the 100 wishlist:

-Marcus Kane: she thought the council rediscussed her pregnancy and still kept her in her cell even if it sorta proved her self-defense claim (you can't kill anyway but I assume there is a bit more leniency if you weren't trying to, you were protecting yourself, and you are pregnancy. At least enough not to be in solitary anymore, but as far as Emma is concerned she should have been freed) but he actually knew nothing of this because they were too busy with the Ark dying so there is a weird relationship right there, between the angry pregnant girl who is kinda giving him a pass while hating on all other people with power, and the guy who is trying to do better now on the ground and who later on is visibly !!! about Diyoza being pregnant ??

-a Bellamy to freak out with questions about his mom and then to freak out even more when he realizes why he's being asked these questions, he was working so hard to 'be better' and protect people and lead, what is he supposed to do with this time-ticking bomb

-all the interactions with Murphy to see what happens in an universe where someone is weirdly caring from beginning to end ?? John Murphy having a tiny blonde girl who finds a little too easy to kill who has his back (possible 'trapped in the bunker together' situation there with the added terror of her pregnancy advancing though) (also he can cook, it's canon, which means he'll have Emma's undying love for that alone)

-interactions with Emori who is now around a girl who would never shun her son even if he was born a mutant and does everything for his sake but doesn't judge Emori herself for her crime-lifestyle, and later on Emma actually tries to volunteer to save her from being experimented on, because she's sure she'll be left to die in Praimfaya anyway and is giving her son one more chance it if the nightblood experiment works and saving someone in the process

-Raven having someone who picks her first even if it's platonically ?? Raven getting this big sister bond and helping Emma out too, she hates asking for help but it's a bit different when it's very mutual

-if it's possible for a Jasper not to completely fall apart after Mount Weather because Emma is not staying too close to a constantly drunk depressed guy while 8-9 months pregnant, maybe not losing it completely because he gets to protect/help someone else (Emma), that same Jasper who started to feel a bit of a spark of life again when he bonded for five minutes with a girl in Luna's place, maybe gets to feel better when helping Emma with baby Henry and going with them all to space later on ?

-Spacekru being a weird family unit to baby Henry though, all the aunts and uncles he needs // if Henry is the bunker and Emma is in space they'd have to keep Emma from dying of heartbreak though

-Clarke finding someone who agrees with literally all of her choices except for the one of forgiving and sorta dating Lexa (never forgive! Never forget!) and regardless of which faction Emma belongs to Emma actually agreeing that Madi should have been left flameless, are you kidding.

-I actually want to write with an Abby and fix the relationship because I like Abby, but I think it would be terrible for the other rper if we don't know each other well because Emma would be an ass.hole for a while and refuse to be reasonable about not hating the adults

My swanfire au needs

in Season 1, it's Neal who comes to Storybrooke instead of August and it is a whole bunch of problems as she tries to hide that Henry is his kid, while Henry increasingly tries to get Neal to help him get Emma to believe.

In Season 3, Neal DOES NOT have to leave when the curse is undone and so they go off to New York with the memories of always being together.

NEAL STAYS AND THEY RAISE HENRY

Season 7 au where Neal and Emma are separated by the curse as Henry is from his family and their fake memories include them being together when they were younger but had a messy af break up.

Because this is constantly churning in my head at least 83% of the time, I had the idea that one of the MAJOR villains orchestrating the ensnarement of Dean II could be Emma. Because THEN Dean II would have more shit to unpack, and Sam would have even more to explain.

It'd be grand. No, I don't care how she comes back, only that she's working somehow to destabilize Hell/Purgatory and bring on Apocalypse 5.0 (Leviathan?)

Look, I don't care what ANYONE says. Sam’s son Dean (Spencer Borgeson) looks a STUPID LOT like Eileen Leahy (Shosannah Stern), and no writers or actors are ever going to change my mind that it wasn't cast that way on purpose.

So, what happened? I'll tell ya what happened. Sam kept hunting for a little while, but he and Eileen had an unplanned pregnancy and she and Sam got out...for a little while. Until Eileen had a lone-wolf-hunter freakout and left. Sam's the one who stayed. And it was easier to let Dean think she was dead.

Dean drives the little red muscle car (THE red 1971 Plymouth Valiant) she left behind, "to feel closer to her."

So, you see... Sam becomes Ellen, Dean Jr. becomes Jo.

Except Bill (Eileen) is fucking alive, and Dean Jr. swears he'll never speak to Sam again when he finds out.

"Because you hid all this from me, dad! You didn't give me my own choice!"

There's all these people that know Dean's name and know so many details about his life (a Jody Mills, a Donna Hanscum, etc etc.), but he doesn't know them, and he feels lied to.

His grandparents were killed in a plane crash, or so he thought, and Dad said uncle Dean died in a construction accident (something about rebar).

They all look so normal in their family photos that Dean soon learns Sam has carefully doctored to "sell" the lie even more convincingly.

Dean Jr. doesn't know hunting or angels or about Castiel or Jack.

Sam doesn't want him to throw it all away, because what about college?! Sam would have killed to finish college! He's trying to protect him. It's not manipulation. It's love.

But Dean starts hunting with Eileen.

He starts using “Leahy” and his middle name (Mason?) instead.

And Sam's dying inside over it.

He is. He goes out to the garage, slips into the impala's front seat, and he sobs.

alright, pokemon day in a week, and i've got some thoughts! mostly about what i hope to see from plza here, but some other stuff, too

plza predictions:

i think this game will be a sequel to xy, not another past adventure like pla. that reveal trailer did not give off past vibes to me. (plus i think a sequel just sounds more interesting to me for a variety of reasons.)

regardless of whether it takes place in the past or future, i don’t think time travel will play a particularly large part in this game. kalos just isn’t a region that has a lot of ties to that stuff, especially compared to sinnoh.

eternal flower floette. since we know it was in the xy files but never distributed, i have a feeling they had more plans for it that never came to fruition, and i think za is probably gonna reincorporate some of their scrapped plans for z. admittedly this is the one prediction i feel least sure about, but hey, you’ve gotta have at least one of those, right?

i don’t think it’s gonna have the same sort of action-adventure gameplay as pla did. it doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that would adapt itself well to a city environment. i feel like this game gonna do something fresh.

i do think the pla quest system will be retained, however. that just feels like a natural fit, since i assume we’re developing lumiose city over the course of the game like a larger-scale version of jubilife village.

i don’t know if this is the sort of thing we’ll get in this trailer, but i think abilities and maybe held items will make a comeback after being absent in pla. i feel like it would be weird to bring back megas without abilities, since those are what make or break a lot of them. held items are a coin flip - they could just do the mega stones like they did in pla instead.

summer release seems reasonable, right? uuuhh, let’s go with june. sure.

plza wishlist:

i want alternate forms besides just new megas. regional variants or something of that sort. i don’t want every new design in this game to just be another mega evolution that’ll get left behind when we move away from megas again.

i don’t want any mega evolutions that aren’t for third-stage pokemon. now that the game have started giving old pokemon new evolutions again, i would rather they stick with that as much as they can and use megas solely when normal evolution isn't a viable option.

show us that megas are actually important to the story. it’s crazy to me how you only ever fight like three megas in the core xy story and most of the mega stones are locked behind the post-game. if you’re bringing back mega evolutions, make them front and center!

customization! if we could combine the facial customization of sv, the unisex clothing options of pla, and the fashion of kalos, that sounds like the recipe for the best character customization of the series.

i don’t want another fully open world. i’d prefer the segmented areas like pla had.

assuming my sequel prediction is true, more emma please?

other general predictions:

honestly i haven’t quite been in tune with the mobile/side stuff lately. probably a bunch of go/masters/unite/cafe remix/sleep/tcg pocket updates as usual but i don’t really know what specifics to predict/expect here.

seems like we may be getting anime news here? we’re at an interesting point in the series right now since we’ve just reached laqua and so this would be the perfect time to tease whatever direction the series is about to take, but given that the dub is still only at the paldea arc i’m not sure if they’d want to pull that out yet (not that it’d surprise me if they did, considering the way they treat the dub marketing sometimes). let’s just go with a safe pick and predict a shiny zygarde distribution for cross-promotion between horizons and plza (or alternatively friede’s charizard or captain pikachu).

they’ll probably point people towards that dragonite web animation since that’s coming out on pokemon day.

new sv raids, probably. something big for the presents. tbh i don’t really follow the raids too closely either so i’m not sure what would be a reasonable guess for this. i would say a walking wake/iron leaves rerun but i think we just had one? maybe a shiny gimmighoul rerun instead.

given that they just dropped a bunch of the home rewards in pretty quick succession, i feel like they’ll probably at least give them a mention here. tbh i expected them to be spaced out more, so maybe they were trying to keep our focus on home for an update or something? (probably just copium, please ignore me)

switch 2 will not be acknowledged in any way.

i don’t particularly expect any big new thing here, like a new mystery dungeon or something. since we already had the plza announcement last year, i expect this to differ from the usual pokemon day formula and be more akin to an august presents where half the time is dedicated solely to a game overview.

pokemon picross 2, baby!!! i’m gonna keep predicting this every year and eventually i’m gonna be right. it's gonna happen one day, just you watch.

The Vanished Birds by Simon Jimenez

This is my second Jimenez book for this podcast. I anticipate it will not be the last. I think I mentioned in my episode on his book The Spear Cuts Through Water that I got maybe 1/3rd of the way through it before I added The Vanished Birds to my wishlist. The Spear Cuts Through Water was beautiful and I was very pleased to find that the Vanished Birds was also really good. They’re such different books in terms of content and what Jimenez is doing with them but he has such a way with words that carries across both novels.

Here's a challenge for the fandom.

How about we try NOT to come up with "predictions" that include Ripper, Julia, Priya, Zee, Wayne, and Caleb as the first six boots, and then include any combination of Emma, MK, Axel, Nichelle, Damien, and Raj in the final 5?

This is S2 all over again except a few spots are moved around.

Just had a thought. Marie can probably sense heartbeats, right? My thinking is that she’ll eventually be able to tell peoples specific heartbeats. Like, for example, she can recognize Emma’s heartbeat from Andre’s.

The way I imagine it, something happens and Marie and Jordan get separated- and it’s one of those high risk, tense situations where they don’t know if the other is alive - and Marie finds them through their heartbeat.

oooh yes i love this! it makes even more sense when you remember that she is able to distinguish other people’s blood from each other, so the next obvious step would be recognizing heartbeats/distinguishing heartbeats from one another.
