The true comparison we need. I love seeing the difference between 4kids and the Rai dub. But this is the one we really need.

already at episode 2 and they made Stella so unbelievably more rude when in italian she's very gentle and polite and always formal to adults and authorities.

the one time she's rude in italian (to Knut) they make her nicer. the one time the Trix are much more rude, they make them nicer. the one time Griselda is relatively neutral they make her unprofessional! what the fuck?

This is shameful! Cinelume dub is a mess in fact im making a compilation of most of their errors through season 2, which is the least faithful to the original dub.

in general think about it. witches are mostly never opponents of the winx, just in season 1 and season 6 (those girls were freshmen manipulated by the trix). In the rest of the cases they help the winx or are neutral (or get controlled). Ms. Griffin herself is a good person who likes to make pranks to the fairies, that's all.

I watched an episode of the English dub of Winx today, what a horrible thing, there's no feeling, no sound, the voices don't match, it was torture, I'll continue with my good old BR Portuguese dub

Thanks for the reply! I'll clear a few things up to give more insight into my comments.

In the RAI English dub, some lines have been very obviously altered from the original Italian dub. I think one of the quickest ways to find out whether a dub is based on the English or Italian dub is to check those specific lines in different languages. I'll put an example from 2.09 below, roughly at the 3:30 timestamp.

In the RAI English dub, Bloom mentions that purple is her favorite color by saying, "Thank you, Professor. Purple is my favorite color." In the Italian dub, however, she doesn't mention anything about her favorite color. This is what Bloom says, "Thank you for the flower. It was a very delicate gesture." (I got this translation from a native Italian speaker.)

I looked into several non-English dubs and found that most use the English script for the clip in 2.09. I feel like this is a clear indicator that those dubs are most likely derived from the English dub, as the script involves complete line changes rather than just style or tonal differences in translation. I also checked some other scenes in other episodes and noticed that the translations, as well as the timing of the dialogue, matched the English script.

Winx Club Español and Winx Club Português channels on YouTube have episodes in Spanish and Portuguese, which also appear to follow the English script.

EDIT: It appears that the European Spanish dub follows the Italian script in season three.

European Spanish is 100% translated from Italian, it gotta be since the lyrics and a lot of dialogue sounds translated from Italian and not from cinelume's english (it's the SAME exact dialogue). The only times I've checked some scene differences and it was just... extremely specific italian stuff that couldn't be translated, I guess.

Brazilian and Portugal also seem to be translated from italian, but this is based purely on the vibes. I don't speak Portoguese. Yet

For Latin Spanish ...no idea. The translation is frankly really awkward compared to european spanish. Could be translated from english cinelume but the songs pitch is correct. I don't know.

I think Rainbow offered either the Italian script or the cinelume script for dubbing companies to choose to translate from. The only way we'll know who got from who will be once I'll sub S1-3 and international fans come forward to bring their differences.
