It’s things like this that are why I started this podcast. I’ve always loved Falanghina (a lesser-known Italian varietal from Campania, north of Naples), and I got to taste and learn about this one the other night at a Southern Italian Wine Dinner! It turns out that Falanghina is called as such because the vines are trained on poles, and “falanghina” is derived from the Latin “phalanga” which is derived from the Greek “phalanx.” So basically, this is probably what the Spartans we’re drinking at Thermopylae. #wineeducation #wineishistory #wineisculture https://www.instagram.com/p/Bxp7qIYpyDx/?igshid=267lts1nawum
