In a world where anything could be made possible with a simple thought, Kokomi finds enjoyment in the simple things. The gentle sparkle of her vision, followed by a wave of her hand, summons a small fish made of pure hydro energy. A small joy, but still one that makes her smile as her creation does slow laps around her hand. What was one fish soon becomes two, then three, four, and five until she conjures about a dozen of them, each more different than the last.
Now a parade of fish circles her, small bubbles accompanying them as she admires them. However, their happy little swimming march soon turns out to be much more than she bargained for, as they soon start to wander. Off they float to an unexpected observer, one whose head they now encircle and blow bubbles for. Kokomi only stopped to realize this once he cleared his throat and what fish remained near her suddenly scuttled close, just as timid as their creator. "Oh, I'm--" words have never come easy to her, but they became harder still when caught doing something embarrassing.
"It was…tempting to create them. Better these than whatever else everyone else seems keen on dreaming up, don't you think?" It's a poor attempt at lightening the already awkward mood, followed by nervous laughter to boot. The fish that circled his head continued to blow bubbles in response.

Tmp tmp tmp~!
Splashing through the rain in her pink rain boots, Mary Sue hums a tune to herself as she twirls an umbrella above her head. It's a fine, wet day for a summer storm. Abruptly, lightning flashes. As she blinks through the light, she sees a suspiciously handsome man standing near some traffic lights...
BOOM. The visual impact hits her heart at the same time as the thunder. More importantly, where was his umbrella?
The light turns red. Mary Sue's not sure if he's going to cross the street, but she starts running towards him anyways.
"Waitwaitwait!"
"Don't leave just yet, we can share!"
#windbornestrike#windbornestrike1#ic#sometimes i forget i can control the weather in threads hehe#my other idea was her attempting to put stickers over his tacet mark but i think he's a bit too tall for that... :p

Her lips pursed contemplatively — unfortunately, his sentiments on individual hearts did come with that fact: some were simply unkind. There need be no explanation or excuses — it was as if those who sought discord were born as a natural counter to those who wished for tranquillity. Two sides of the same coin, like two opposite faces of the moon, where one bathed in darkness, shrouded in mystery and regarded with caution.
"You have a point. It does allow them to part on ordinary terms— as ordinary as they can. If advance warning was given, the atmosphere might become strange between friends, like mourning the absence of one before they were even returned home.
in the end, there isn't a 'kindest' way for this to happen, but I want to think the Stars, for whatever reason it might be they release some back beyond this land, do so with consideration for those left behind in mind".
❝ It would depend on their character. Which is difficult to say when we don't get a chance to know them. ❞ for obvious reasons, most likely, but still a hindrance to understanding one's predicament. ❝ I can't say. The frequencies within people's hearts are different between one another in some ways. I'd like to believe in the good of humanity, but there's indisputable proof of those who would like to sow discord... at least it's better that some know upfront than finding out days or more later. ❞

"Well, I guess I can deal with an assistant if you insist." The guy seemed serious enough, and without any awareness of the technicalities, he could certainly be put to work without bothering him about his processes. His aversion to having to deal with well-intentioned but dim classmates, and then collaborators later once he graduated had led to his general avoidance of academics.
...Besides everything else he wished to avoid in association.
"A local biome isn't entirely inexplicable. Plenty of islands end up with some measure of local diversity. It really depends on a few key factors," holding up one gloved finger, he starts, "One would be our relative place on the planet we live on. Two," a second finger, "Would depend on the type of ocean currents surrounding the island. Even discounting the dangers of the Gulf, we would need to take seasonal ocean temperatures. Three, well, there's the obvious fact that whoever is lording over this place has an unreasonable amount of power."
There was always the chance they could be in some complex and orchestrated 'dream', too.
"Either way, I've been starting the process of documenting this. It'll take a long while, and have some trial and error, but I'm not a bad person to ask. Although," he wipes some sweat off his brow, "If we could move this conversation inside, somewhere cool, and maybe with a table, I could properly explain what I'm thinking."
NO NEED FOR COMPENSATION, he says, even when he's well aware of all the work it would take to be put into it. he had heard enough from mortefi to understand the complications that could arise and, well... ❝ Then consider my assistance payment. I'm diligent enough in work, even if I'm not aware of all the technicalities, ❞ he offers, hoping that might be satisfying enough, even if it was beneficial overall for the environment.
❝ Yes. When I arrived, I had assumed that it would be more unlike what I knew. But from what the locals say, it passes by every season as one should expect. It makes you wonder what kind of climate they're fostering here to allow it on an island out at sea. ❞ and why not leave it as something more tropical than meddling with it, were that the case. ❝ The flowers I'd like to tailor are ones that would persevere through every season. A difficult request, I know, but an important one, ❞ he adds, hoping the other would understand.
though, seeing him in this state... had he only his abilities fully unlocked, he could alleviate it a little with a well timed breeze. ❝ I'm used to a milder climate, though campaigns can lead you anywhere. If you need a change of location, we can walk and talk. ❞

He said yes!
Mary Sue beams as she hands the umbrella up up up to the handsome man, then finds the best place to stand beside him. Whoa...he looked really fit!
"Um...are you...are you a..." Policeman? Outfit was too strange. Assassin? Not chilly enough. Bodybuilder? But he was so stylish!
Look at his picture-perfect peacock blue locks—the shade was almost unreal! That flawless skin that only beauty filters could give you, the impeccable clothing details designed to show off his best assets, and the out-of-place aura he exuded while standing on a 21st-century inspired street!
Hmm, then that only left...
"Are you a professional cosplayer, mister?"
RAIN NEVER WAS A BOTHER TO HIM, especially when it came to the element which he controls. where there was a storm, there was wind 一 it was almost like it was natural. and yet to say he had planned for this, well... being drenched had not been a part of his plan at all. not that he can help it, given his lack of umbrella and, well, no place to pick one up at this time.
so, he carries on as usual, figuring it was best to make his way back to his place of stay before the torrent became too unbearable. and just so, the light turns red, signaling it was time to head over.
until the sound of an urgent voice calls to him一
turning his head, he takes note of the girl, her own umbrella keeping her safe from the weather. in contrast to him, with droplets trickling from chaotic tufts, it must have been like night and day.
❝ Share? ❞ it wasn't unheard of, though he hadn't expected a stranger to offer out of nowhere. ❝ I wouldn't want to inconvenience you. But if we were heading the same way, then it should be no issue. In terms of sharing... ❞ his eyes motion between the difference of height, apparent in his expression. ❝ It'd be best if you gave the umbrella to me as we walk. ❞

Though still a little flustered at the initial awkwardness of their encounter, Kokomi eases once she sees that he's unfazed. She's always been uncomfortable around people, though less so lately. It can't be helped that she feels the need to coil back each time she's in the presence of another. This is remedied, however, when a creation of his own comes to greet her, and the priestess holds out her hand to guide it forward, fingers brushing against its essence.
Kokomi hums thoughtfully at his words. "It could, yes. Seeing a dearly departed comrade could cause more heartache if anything, for example." Index finger moves to scratch underneath the dragon's chin before it settles into coiling around her arm. "Why not something that could make you happy instead? A harmless thing, maybe. Something that would bring you peace."
"Like this little one," she's talking about the dragon, of course. "I can hardly see how it could cause any harm. Or these fish that I've created." Simple creatures such as these could hardly hurt a fly even if given the opportunity.
Soon enough, a jellyfish made of the same watery essence pops into existence, joining the small herd of animals. "…Though maybe you think me childish for being entertained by something so simple." even still, she can't help that things like these give her a content feeling.
DREAMS WERE SOMETHING OFTEN HAD, whether bad or good. times of peaceful moments amongst his parents and, in turn, the weight of all those who have been lost amidst tragic resonances in his command. to experience an area where one can control such... he isn't exactly certain what to think. and yet one seems to be not so adverse to the idea as golden gaze turns, taking note of a pink-haired woman with a school of watery fish swimming happily circling her. until they saw a new target 一 him.
whatever drew their attention, he can only assume it has something to do with him, given how embarrassed she seems from the incident. lifting a hand, he keeps one of the bubbles from finding his face, though hardly seems annoyed.
❝ I agree. Some of the creations I came across were more dangerous than beneficial, ❞ he speaks, seeming more judgmental on those particular decisions.
danger was always rife within the world, yet to call upon it for a selfish whim without consideration to other people was something he would never be able to agree with. ❝ In all honesty, I don't even know what I would wish to call in. There are a lot of paths one can take, but the consequences of them could be irreversible, even if this all is just a dream. ❞ such as recollecting a lost comrade or manifesting them to be happy. all it would do is lead one to another parting and another stone to carry in their heart.
moving his hand over, a finger holds itself to help guide one of the fish back to its creator, in turn manifesting a small, teal dragon of wind so that it could help heard them back, too.

"'To check'? you mean to verify those we are close to remain — or as one final taunt to those who could not make it in time to give their final goodbyes to someone before they're whisked away? That interpretation hadn't come to mind, but... it certainly would rub salt into the wound of being separated. Do you truly believe they could be so malicious?"
❝ Even if it's a silver-lining, the fact they alert us to new arrivals and those leaving through this eclipse is... interesting. But what's the purpose of it? Is it to forewarn us to check? If so, there's a certain kind of cruelty to it, if one were to ask me... ❞

"In theory, yes." Tighnari nods, tapping his chin before he looks back at the flowers in question. There should be no reason they shouldn't be able to be crossbred. Not at a cursory glance, anyway. His ear twitches at the mention of compensation, and he shakes his head.
"No need for compensation. While this island has plenty of biodiversity, there are many benefits to creating hybrid plants." Pulling out the vials he had collected over his own time here, he starts working to extract some of the pollen.
"Consider that it's summer at the moment - the qualities that make a flower bloom in summer will cause it to wilt in the cooler seasons." He pauses, looking up at his companion. "That is, there are multiple seasons in this place. I've only been here since the start of Spring, but from what I understand, it's a relatively temperate climate experiencing four unique seasons. To be honest, Summer is the worst it has to offer."
While he's sticking to the shade, it becomes obvious upon a second glance that he's a bit like a wilted flower himself in the heat.
WHEN IT CAME TO THIS CITY, there were certainly more important matters to be faced. to a newcomer like him, there were bound to be an endless expanse of questions as deep as a raging sea, ones that, for better or worse, had no response at all. time and again he would ask someone who might be able to help guide him home in some way, only to be met time and again with the same answers, plunging him into an echo chamber with no escape.
so, when the topic of botany found him, it was as if it were a breath of fresh, crisp air sweeping over him for the smallest reprieve.
❝ You would be able to crossbreed and create these flower hybrids? ❞ that was what it had sounded like, hence him wanting to make certain. as it were now, perhaps it was fortunate that smiles on him, given the idea he wishes to carry over from home to here, too. ❝ I'm a newcomer, so I have little funding to my name right now. But come a time when I could afford it, I would be willing to compensate you for your work if you'd welcome it. ❞
