i'm a bit UMmm about alcaraz vs jarry (in case he wins) cause i was on their previous three maches and carlos struggles against him (i'm rooting more for carlos in this). i don't know if you gave it any kind of thought or you liked more other draws. hope you have a nice day/night in you timezone!

you are right i did not have any thoughts about that. i will preface this by saying i don’t follow jarry too well so i could be wrong about many things. but i am personally not too worried because nico jarry is a clay merchant and also incredibly inconsistent. you’re right carlos has never beaten him in straights so yes there is that edge. the one time he beat carlos was when carlos was kind of in flop mode during the wimby23-iw24 era. the only other thing that is against carlos here is that it’s indoor hc and he is kind of bad inside lol. but i couldn’t say that jarry is better at indoor hc. so carlos will be fine im sure? but i will put the match in my mental matches to keep an eye on category

Badminton

Alright my country, Malaysia, was considered as one of the powerhouses of Badminton back then, historically speaking. We have the legendary Sidek Brothers, who are still active in the industry being coaches and mentors for badminton players. Sidek Brothers are famous badminton players with one of the best, if not the best, records ever as siblings and led a golden badminton era of Malaysia in late 1980s to 1990s. They were THE legends of Malaysia's badminton players as they popularised badminton in Malaysia.

The eldest and the most famous sibling, Misbun Sidek, is known for his forbidden S-Serve and eventually it was banned because it was too effective against his opponents lol. You can read the rest of the lore here. The Sidek Brothers even have comics published, so when I was a kid, I used to read and watch the animation a lot!

And almost every kids here grew up watching badminton on tv. It was everywhere. So I got to know about the sport basically since I was kid. I also played a lot of badminton after school and now when I have the time. Badminton courts are almost everywhere here so it is easy to play. Then how I got INTO it.

I watched badminton a lot, regardless who played, all disciplines. But, what got me hooked the most was this legendary Olympics semifinal between Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan

Using tennis-terms, they're the Fedal of Badminton. They respect each other SO MUCH, despite Lin Dan (in red) led their H2H count, they dominated the sport so much and everything about their gameplay is just so so good. This match was PEAK badminton to me. Badminton had a solid Big4 during their era and they were Lee Chong Wei (MAS), Lin Dan (CHN), Taufik Hidayat (INA) and Peter Gade (DEN). There are the legends that I used to watch a lot on tv as a child.

Then I got into Kento Momota (retired this year) and enjoyed his games so much, but he was involved in an unfortunate accident in Malaysia that costed him his career. He bloomed when Lee Chong Wei was about to retire and honestly I love his game. Calm, collected and very very good rally players. In contrary to tennis, badminton THRIVES with rallies. We play with speed and precision, so if you watch any badminton rallies, you'll understand me.

Then we move to my very dear Lee Zii Jia.

I started watching him after he won the All England 2021 (easy term; it is like the Wimbledon/slam of badminton). He is the only second Malaysian to win, and the first Malaysian to have Super 1000 title since the system was reintroduced in 2017. It is a never-ending story if i'd explain as to why I like Zii Jia but hey hagsjsshs i love him sm as a fan.

Tennis

Well, tennis was easy.

They were the reasons. LMFAO. I watched Prince of Tennis when I was 15 and my curiousity about the game spiked when the reality hits; "Is there really a 'Tezuka Zone' (move) irl?" And boy i was not impressed HAHAHA BUT I experienced the beauty of the game in the originality of it. I learned about the rules, players, and a lot more. Eventually, I started watching a lot of tennis with my family. My peak watching year was 2016-2018. Then I was busy with uni and I didn't enjoy it as much. So I left it behind, but I still watch occasionally.

Then I watched this match.

Jannik got my attention. After watching this match, I manifested that he should get into semifinal in 2023. Then I started following him right when the clay szn starts. Can you imagine I watched him lost to Altmaier LIVE LMFAO that was like years ago can't believe we reached here now. I already Carlos at this time because I watched that match of him vs. Tsitsipas at the USO21. He was A BABY that time what the heck. Then it came back to me oh they are YOUNG young. So maybe I could check them, maybe they had some matches and yeah, Miami23 you will STAY FAMOUS!!

And after that Wimby23 sf against Novak, I was lowk so heartbroken lmfao but that's alright. The entire saga of Carlos avenging Jannik in the final was so funny bcs it was one of the reasons why I start to actively watch tennis again. Yes, what cemented and drove me to watch tennis often again was because none other than Wimby23 final,

Carlos winning his first Wimbledon title. I love the match till this day. Still one of my favourites. And the rest is history hahaha
