15. The first to cry during movies that don't seem sad

I think we saw Wille cry / display his emotions more openly, so I think the obvious choice here is Wille. However, I think at a certain point in their relationship, Simon lets his walls down enough to cry at the littler things, which Wille doesn't always think are very sad at all. (He denies it, of course, and Wille plays along - maybe it's like their little secret).

30. Pet names, yes or no?

I do see them calling each other Älskling quite a lot, so I think they definitely use pet names. I'm unfamiliar with the most common ones for couples in Swedish, but I'd like to think that in addition to Älskling, they have unique ones for each other. This is just personal preference but to me pet names (like baby talk) are fairly cringe until you get into a relationship, and then you find yourself stuck in it. So yeah, I think that's them.

40. Who is the skilled shopper / who waits for the last minute to get gifts / who gets more stressed out?

They both get stressed but for different reasons. Y'all may disagree with me on this but Wille seems like a planner. I believe he's always thinking about what he's going to get Simon for the next big event, and counts down the days until he can give it, which can make him anxious - what if it's not the right color, or fit, or Simon will complain it was too expensive, etc. I also think he loves surprising Simon but has a hard time being patient. I see Simon struggling more with gift giving because Wille kind of has everything he wants / needs from a material standpoint - we even saw him struggle with Wille's birthday present in canon in s3. I think he overthinks it and has resorted to either homemade / sentimental gifts or making plans for them to do something together, like go to the aquarium, attend art classes, take a holiday somewhere new, etc.

And when it comes to the holidays and getting gifts for other people, let's face it, these two are equally a mess.

32. What cute nicknames do they call one another?

i... am pretty set on "baby" both ways, honestly. or, i think maybe they'd use a whole roster of terms of endearment for each other-- "love," "darling," "sweetheart" i can see (in swedish, ofc), and simon would definitely have a few in spanish for wille such as "amor/mi amor," "mi vida," "cariño," "mi rey" (sarcastically AND not)-- but i think "baby" would be the one they use the most, to the point that it can really be considered a nickname, whereas the others just come up organically at random.

48. How would each of them explain how they met?

well, it depends on who they're talking to, i guess. i think "we met at school" would be pretty standard from both of them when dealing with strangers they just met or people they don't feel fully comfortable around. for casual acquaintances, new friends who weren't there at hillerska with them, or just people they interact with semi-closely on a regular basis, they might go a bit more in depth. i like to think that wille would often say that he fell in love with simon the moment he first heard simon sing (much to simon's chagrin), and then simon would (in retaliation) bring up that one class where he accused the monarchy of being welfare receivers as the moment wille first became attracted to him (much to wille's chagrin). as for when simon first noticed him, it would be lunch after that same class, when wille almost drops his fork because he couldn't stop looking at simon (much to wille's chagrin... again. boy always loses the "first impression" competition because he's such a giant sap, lol.)

28. Who always steals the other's food? How does their partner react to it? simon steals wille's food with the sole intent to be a little shit sometimes, except that it backfires about 7 times out of 10 because it'll only confuse wille ("oh, sorry, you wanted that? i can get you more if you want? or here, you can have mine"). the remaining 3 times if simon's really blatantly teasing he might play at simon's own game and act confused on purpose, just to piss him off.

30. Pet names? Yes or no? i think it was @earlgrey-lateatnight who said yes but only during sex and one ☝️ i agree, and two ✌️ i wish i could share with you the very vivid mental image thinking about this question elicits in my brain of simon moaning wille's name over and over and over with increasing urgency, and wille's reassuring "it's okay my love, you can come" whispered in his ear.

35. What are their tastes in music? i'm so glad you asked this question bc i just know i'm right here, you can't convince me otherwise. simon's an r&b boy through and through, i think there's maybe a couple of rock albums that he grew up with bc they were micke's faves and he might revisit them from time to time for nostalgia reasons, but other than that it's r&b and some hip hop. guilty pleasure: anime theme songs. wille occasionally agrees with simon on the hip hop but that boy loves himself a good pop ballad. that and indie stuff. 100%.

7. Who's clumsier?

Oh this question has layers I feel like. We all know Mr. dropping-his-fork-because-a-cute-boy-looked-at-him Wille and you best believe he gets adorably clumsy when he's flustered. But I also feel like he's very good at adapting a very graceful demeanor when they're in public. Like, frustratingly graceful to the point that Simon finds it very difficult to reconcile that this long-limbed idiot that keeps knocking his elbows on doors and dropping anything imaginable when they're cooking together is the same as that guy that effortlessly navigates through the city without ever tripping.

But ultimately, yeah... it's still Wille. But he's like... domestically clumsy?

13. Stay home/go-out? What are their date nights like?

I really feel like they both looooove a nice evening spent at home, very much casual, relaxed, no need to dress up, maybe a game night together or ordering their favorite take-out and doing movie marathons. I think they would still go out occasionally, but not necessarily for dinner or anything like that, I see them rather going on more active dates, like trying out new sports together (just nothing that involves running for Simon), going on a hike or doing stuff like cooking classes or wine tastings.

28. Who always steals the other's food? How does their partner react to it?

Simon is aaaaalways stealing food. For some reason everything just looks a lot more appealing when it's on Wille's plate, who can blame him? But Wille barely ever complains tbh, just like... in a fun, faux-offended way. Because of course he's learned to adapt and when they cook or order something that he really, really doesn't want to share he just cooks or orders extra so even if Simon steals it he's still got his share.

4. Their favorite show to watch together? 

Simon 100% watches anime. My knowledge of anime is next to nothing but I feel like he likes Deathnote, Attack on Titan, Hunter x Hunter, etc. I think Wille prefers teen dramas (he got a taste for them from Felice/ the girls) and docuseries, because he's hungry to learn more about the world around him. I think together they probably watch whatever anime Simon is into and nature documentaries because they're both kinda big nerds?! Oh, and Avatar.

5. Who is the cheesier one of the two? 

Sorry but Wille. I feel like I see this pretty much confirmed everywhere, from canon to fic. That boy knows how lucky he is and takes every opportunity to show it.

34. How do they cheer one another up during sad times?

I agree with the consensus that it's physical (lol) however I'll try to say some new things. Wille seems to want to talk it out, and Simon has demonstrated that he shows care by listening, asking questions, and offering support. I imagine he learned these skills from living with Linda and Sara. Sometimes when Wille's sadness turns to big anger (like once a year) they'll go to the junkyard and smash a bunch of shit, then go make out. Yeah. 

Simon seems to go within when he's sad, so Wille tries really hard to stop him from spiraling and get him out of his head until he's ready to talk. He'll plan little excursions, like a walk in the park, or get Simon to dance with him in their living room, anything to show him that it's not all bad. Wille also tries to make him laugh. I envision a lot of tickling. He knows not to rush Simon, who will share when he feels safe and ready. 

35. What are their tastes in music? 

I've thought about this one quite extensively. 

So I think Simon inherited a bunch of Micke's taste, because we know Micke exposed him to music and took him to concerts as we see in canon. I imagine it's a good mix of 80's and 90's rock, things like Nirvana and maybe some Swedish bands (like Kent, thank you Wilma @nothingadoaboutnothing ;)) 

As for contemporary music, I feel like Simon likes indie rock, some of it more underground, some more standard like the Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, etc. I see him listening to Lizzy McAlpine and Sufjan to cry and get his feelings out. I also feel like he likes Lady Gaga, perhaps a mix of her vocals and aesthetic. 

Wille likes rap and EDM as we saw in YR. However, much like the TV show thing, I think Felice and company have definitely awakened some love for queer pop / hyperpop in him. I see a burgeoning Charli / Chappel fan. Maybe this is just wishful thinking but I see it. Simon 100% makes fun of him (but definitely doesn't complain when he puts it on). 

Bonus / free question: 

39. Do they get along with each other's family? 

I want to say I'm hopeful on this one. Simon seemed to do fine with Kristina and Ludvig, although I'm sure there's going to be plenty more awkwardness and discomfort now that Wille has stepped down. Overall I think they're pleasant towards each other with occasional moments of connection. 

I think Wille is very invested in getting to know Sara, Linda, and possibly Micke. Post S3, I think he starts to form a closer bond with Sara; I'd like to think she becomes like another sibling now that he doesn't have Erik anymore. Wille tries hard with Linda in the beginning, and eventually realizes that all she wants is for him to treat Simon well and be happy, which for him is easier than ever. Perhaps Wille is the bridge towards a better relationship with Micke - he understands shitty family dynamics and is neutral where everyone else is scarred, so maybe he can help them be in each other's lives again in small ways. Like I said, wishful thinking.

I think Simon actually pushes for Wille to spend time with Wille's parents more, because Wille definitely prefers holidays at the Erikssons. S3 made me feel very hopeful about both fronts.

2. What is something that they gave one another that has a lot of meaning?

well, simon already gave wille a song, didn't he? (even if the giant doofus wasn't aware it was about him. xD)

as for what wille would give simon, i'm thinking the most special, genuine thing would be something erik-related, something that simon knows holds a special place in wille's heart. i've actually been toying with an idea about this-- don't expect me to write it anytime soon because i'm so busy and cannot work on more than one fic at a time, but i still don't want to say much just in case i do manage to write it at some point.

3. How would one another describe their partner?

oh god. do y'all have seven hours to waste here reading? xD in all seriousness, i think this is one of those things where the answer starts all teasing and amused for both of them, and then veers off into earnest sentimentality to the point that whoever's listening starts feeling like they're intruding on an entirely too intimate moment. in wille's case, mainly, because he's the biggest sap out of the two of them. simon does get sentimental as well, but he's more succinct about it-- less "it's like the sun rises out of the darkness whenever he smiles" and waxing poetic with full sincerity, and more "he's so caring, and so brave, and i'm so proud of him and i love him so much, and he's everything."

9. What is something small that they would randomly pick up for one another?

wille often gets simon flowers. not like the really ostentatious bouquets of red roses or anything, but just a handful of flowers, different kinds/sizes/types/colors each time, every once in a while. he also might get him any music-themed trinkets he comes across-- nothing super expensive, because he knows simon wouldn't approve of that, but probably unique pieces.

simon gets wille clothes/accessories/toys for their puppy (nalle, if you've been following my interview-verse) (oh, and their kids, i guess, eventually). i know, i know, but this is a headcanon dear to my heart so let me explain: so wille loves buying stuff for his children (furbaby included) and simon is always trying to rein him in. so they'll be at some store or fair or flea market or something and wille would find something adorable and be all "simon! look! wouldn't nalle look so cute in this?" and simon would be like "he doesn't need that, you're going to spoil him" and wille would pout but relent. and they'd move on as intended, but then simon would come back, or send someone to buy the thing afterward, and wille would tease him about how he loves to spoil nalle just as much as wille does. wille may be the biggest sap, but they're both suckers when it comes to their babies.

28. How do they playfully roast one another?

in any and all ways. ;D

i've always felt the "your majesty" jokes are plentiful on both sides. simon affectionately ribs wille about his music taste or his playlist titles or any number of music-related things. there are also a lot of "mama's boy (but for my mom, not yours)" and "you're only with me for my mom" jokes from simon to wille as well (because lbr, he's basically been linda's third child since season one).

i think wille's way of teasing simon is probably to lay the affection on suuuuper thick when they're around other people, like the absolute sap he is, but mostly because he knows simon thinks it's really cheesy and gets all bashful about it.

as an aside, if you've read my interview-verse series, there's a whole running joke about wille loving their puppy more than simon that i'm very attached to, lol. xD

44. What do they love about each other the most?

i think wille loves how simon understands him, or at least is open to understanding him, to the point that he's pretty much the only person around whom he can be himself, without simon judging him or expecting him to be "better" than he is (simon thinks he's more than good enough as he is). he loves simon's voice and musical talent, of course, and how he gives all of himself to help the people he loves, even to his own detriment. he loves how confident simon is, and how he doesn't take shit from anyone.

simon loves how earnest wille is. he loves that wille is the only person who will take care of him when he's running himself ragged trying to take care of everyone else. he loves how supportive wille is, whether over a choir solo or his political views. he loves that wille trusts his opinion even on situations outside his expertise, and trusts him to make his own decisions. he loves that he's the first person wille comes to for advice and comfort, even on matters unrelated to him, even though given his position in the social hierarchy, he doesn't need to involve simon at all-- but he still wants to.

("everything." that's the real answer to this question.)

45. How do they comfort each other when they are helpless to do anything about the situation?

so. let me get my nerd glasses on for a second. 8)

the concept of "love languages" is a very romantic notion but not really scientific at all. people are too complex and their personalities too plastic to reduce them to one or two ways of showing affection, and the research on this is pretty much inconclusive.

that said, fictional characters, especially ones with such limited canon as wille and simon have, are a bit easier to fit into a simple classification, and it can be fun to play with it. so i 10000% subscribe to the idea that wille's go-to (but not only!) form of showing affection is physical touch, and i think for simon it's an even combination of acts of service and words of affirmation. but they also have come to know the other, or at least the other's personality if not their life details, very well in the few months since they met in canon. so i think they have also come to know how to adapt to the other's needs regarding those love languages.

so basically, simon knows to give wille a hug or a caress when he needs support, on top of reassuring him with words. and wille knows to ask what simon needs, how he can help, and to show his support with actions on top of just offering physical comfort. it really is rather remarkable how we can already see this even in just the twelve episodes we've had in canon so far. and while the love languages might not be truly testable, reproducible, or falsifiable, it's fun to make such observations about fictional characters, in a "jane goodall studying chimpanzees in the wild" kind of way. ;)

33. Who would they love to go on a double date with?

i think double dates would be tricky for them, or for wille mainly because of the whole crown prince thing-- their friend's date would have to be vetted and stuff, and you don't know how they might react to being in a semi-casual setting with royalty, so it could get real awkward, real quick. but i could see them going on double dates with sara, or felice, or madison and their respective partners once their relationships have settled enough that the partners become trustworthy. perhaps rosh or ayub if they end up living relatively close to stockholm. maybe henry or walter if those friendships mature enough.

out of the first three i mentioned, i'd say madison and her partner would probably be the most fun, while a double date with sara or felice would probably be comfortable and familiar for them -- just a nice evening of good conversation and relaxation. so i guess it'd depend on what they want out of the date, really.

36. Who knows the most obscure facts?

i'd say wille. i think as part of his princely life he's probably been made to read (or otherwise absorb) information from a wide variety of areas, not to mention all the different flavors of events he would be required to attend as a representative of the crown. and i doubt he finds all of it interesting but i think in order to not be bored to death by most of it, he kind of picks out individual bits of knowledge that he DOES find interesting and keeps those in mind. and then he's awkward enough to just bring them up out of the blue years down the road, perhaps as some kind of awkward attempt at flirting (think "i got a haircut" energy) or just to have something to say when conversation putters out.

when he does that, most people just go "uhhhh... sure, that's great, i didn't know that" but simon finds it endearing and eventually learns that showing interest and asking him to tell him more about it actually gives wille a boost of confidence, even if whatever the topic is might not be simon's cup of coffee. always feed your loved ones' geekiness, y'all. 🤓
