DP x DC Prompt: "City of Ghosts"

Gotham is a part of the Infinite Realms.

It's a bit of a mythical place really. Ghosts don't go there, and Gotham ghosts don't venture out of their city haunt. Everyone in the Infinite Realms knows that Gotham is a lawless place. They avoid it like the plague. Skulker doesn't hunt there. Walker ignores all the violations of the rules and laws of the Infinite Realms that happen within city limits. Pariah Dark didn't touch that area with a ten-foot pole, in spite of being king of everything within the Infinite Realms. Even Dan hadn't bothered with that place in his own timeline, its inhabitants too twisted and feral for him to fight (he had scars from when he fought some fucked up guy with a shadowcore that somehow powered bright flaming swords bc what's the logic in that?). Gotham is its own brand of crazy not even the bravest and most power-hungry ghosts touched.

Unfortunately, nobody thought to tell Danny this.

Now, you can go so many ways with this. Danny could catch the attention by everyone's favourite serial adopter who sees a baby ghost in need of training and make him a ghost-bat. You can have shipping fics between Danny and any of the bats. You can have Gotham's insane rogues set their sights on the new halfa and enter Amity Park through the portal.

I'm a ho for Jason Todd and I love to ship him with just about anyone, so what if when Danny enters Gotham, he meets a ghost boy by the name Robin, who talks about reading books and protecting people and who saves Danny from a mob of feral city ghosts and is just generally really cute and oh shit, Danny might have a crush.

And then Robin's existence is wiped away by a crazy clown who tortures the boy and shatters his core into so many shards he fades away, and Danny believes the love of his life death is truly gone

Jason's resurrection would be fascinating to explore bc what kind of bullshit could damage a core so beyond repair and what cosmic fuckery actually pulls all those shards back together? (my shipping heart says "Danny accepting the crown caused a power surge and brought Jason back" for drama)

Or maybe Red Hood already exists, and you can pair him with Dan, do an enemies-to-lovers kinda fic, where they were at each other's throat in the initial timeline, but end up falling for each other in the second timeline

Or explore the first timeline and write a tragedy in which Jason has to watch how his partner gets more twisted and warped as time goes on and ends up becoming his enemy

Just Gotham as a ghost town. Literally.

Understanding Amity with Hunter realizing (he already knew, but seeing it) that Amity DOES care about him. Also seeing Luz from Amity’s eyes, especially how she would ask Amity if she thinks Hunter is okay, if he isn’t too stressed/unhappy or etc. Also Hunter and Willow seeing just how infatuated Amity is with Luz, Hunter not really understanding while Willow is like oh wow ok it’s real and not just some power grabbing move

yessss. much as i like "everybody gets to see everybody else's worst moments," there IS also a lot of softness to be had here. it wouldn't be interesting if it was just a montage of everybody being awful.

it would be fun for willow to see amity's memory of hunter finding out about belos's death. i think hunter would try to avoid that particular one for obvious political reasons, but if he Couldn't.... hunter seeing how much amity was acting out of Genuine Concern for him (even if she'd only acknowledge it as "not wasting a perfectly good rival"), hunter seeing Himself from a third-person perspective.... it's all delicious.

and then other, more mundane memories. amity getting him coffee and invading his study space to annoy him. amity falling asleep really fast and really easily when she knows he's keeping watch. amity thinking of him as a friend and someone trustworthy before she thinks of nearly anyone else save, like, lilith....

also the infatuation angle is delightful. willow getting to watch amity's memories shift from So So So Terrified of luz to desperately worried for her. and all the staring at her autism creature style while she sleeps.....

Ok maybe that person was onto something in the sense that. Yes. Hunter probably has trouble disentangling his feelings of wanting someone good to follow and believe in, while getting used to asserting his autonomy and agency. Meanwhile Willow wants to lead and be strong, and struggles w vulnerability and emotional needs. So maybe the TENSION is there's this risky potential for them to get what they want but not what they need, at least at first. But i find that dynamic quite interesting?? Idk??

There are SO many feasible reasons why hunlow potentially could be unhealthy but the haters usually don't think about them deeply enough to ever come up with the correct reasons. I'd feed them airtight hunlow critiques if they'd pay me for it. I'm pretty sure any hunlow enthusiast is capable of doing so.

Like YES they are both so traumatized and sometimes their respective trauma conflicts with the other's and results in a complicated mess of a situation.

I think that fucks honestly. I think we should mess around with hunlow's dynamic being a little unhealthy every once in a while. Maybe I don't want smooth sailing from first meeting to death. Maybe I want problems.

Willow was thankful that she locked the door to her well-decorated office. The new younger teacher decided to visit her and a few things led to another now she was lifted on a small table, being pounded by the other, small moans leaving her lips as she gripped the other. "We should not be doing this here." She whispered and glanced up at him, but her body only pulled him closer.

Wilson never fancied himself a masochist, and believed the pleasure he was experiencing was in spite of the pain, not because of it. Her claws tore at the back of his vest and dug into his neck, small trails of blood trickled down.

Regardless, nothing could compare to the high of kissing Willow.

His eyes opened when he felt her pull away, breaking the kiss but staying tantalizingly close.

"You're getting better at this." Her breath brushed against his tender lips.

He tried to think of a reply, but if he was being honest with himself, his mind was clouded with the desire to kiss her more. With his eyes closed, he could almost forget, could almost imagine it was Willow–his Willow!–wrapped in his arms, and not Their Queen.

When they first met, he wondered what was her influence, and what was Theirs. Now he was better at telling. Willow–his Willow–seemed content to share longing looks with her companion, whereas the Queen had the confidence of Their throne. Willow could be brash, but she appreciated when someone met her at her level. The Queen preferred submission from her subjects. Willow, he guessed, would be an enthusiastic partner, but perhaps the need to draw his blood was Theirs. He hoped so, though he couldn't know for certain. His silence, or perhaps his body, betrayed him, because her lips curled into a wicked smile.

"Thinking naughty thoughts, Higgsbury?"

He wavered between a lie and the truth. "You hold my every thought captive, your majesty." That was another thing. Calling her Willow 'pissed her off,' as she would say. He would, occasionally, try it anyways–but he had learned it was safer to do so when her hand wasn't on his neck.

Her eyes narrowed, though she was still smiling. "Cute," was all she said.

Willow would never take such a comment without deflecting in some manner–he could almost hear her laugh and ask if he said that to all the girls. The Queen seemed to enjoy knowing how much power she held over him. Furthermore, she seemed determined to bring him both pain and pleasure in equal measure. Hmm. Pain for pleasure; he surely proved he would make that trade, and that was dangerous.

Truly, this entire affair was ill-advised. He should be spending his time finding a way to free her from the throne without becoming its captive, not... consorting with the shadow Queen, no matter how familiar a face she wore.

okay, you're pretty cheesy. you love big romantic gestures, and dramatic confessions of love. but you also love the little moments, like going grocery shopping together. to put it simply, you love love. you have such a big heart, and it overflows with affection - not just romance, either. you make everyone you talk to feel loved. you're quite the optimist, and believing in true love and soulmates and forever. you're probably a little insecure, but i promise you are beautiful, inside and out, as cliche as that sounds. i hope you know that.

Hold on this just came to me. Princess AU version of Understanding Willow but Flipped to Understanding Amity instead. Where Amity is so unbalanced by Willow’s arrival digging up old memories that she keeps fucking up at her job in ways that make her even MORE unbalanced. But she’s not in school anymore and she can’t just Talk to Willow about it, so she simply decides to remove the problem at its source and get rid of her memories of Willow.

It goes bad. Of course. Amity’s found with a scorched but largely in tact memory photo of her and Willow, and then a shitton of other burnt up ones. Luz drags her over to Eda’s for help (under the excuse that mindscape diving is more of a wild magic specialty) along with Lilith, Hunter, and Willow. And Luz makes the call to send Willow and Hunter in there to fix things. (Willow because she seems to be at the heart of this and should know Kid-Amity well enough to piece her early memories together, and Hunter because he’s Amity’s BFF and also to make sure Willow doesn’t see anything too sensitive in there. Like a memory of Luz’s scars for instance.

OOH.... OH I LOVE THIS CONCEPT SO MUCH. ALL OF THIS IS SO GOOD.

like. absolutely 100% she would do this. but GIRL.

also, picturing hunter and luz arguing about him going into amity's mind is making me giggle. him being like "why ME??? of ALL PEOPLE?? her inner self will just attack me first and ask questions later" and luz being like "she will not and you Know It >:("

thinking about the memories willow could see is JUICY. obviously there's a lot of empire-related political stuff in there, but there's also like. god. i would Love for her to see the memory of amity challenging hunter to fight staffless with them both using their "natural talent." knowing full well he'll only have hand-to-hand combat. against her abomination magic.

this would not even remotely be a nice memory for willow to see. but it Compels Me. amity blight at her worst, everybody!!!

also, hunter seeing baby amity is just very cute. i'm not sure if anything about her childhood would take him by Surprise, except maybe that she has a softer side than he initially thought. he's already intuited that her parents aren't Great, so.
