I really adore how the characters and conceit of Mistria are handled so far.
I think it is really clever to have the plot hinge on your character coming to the town, specifically to fulfill work for the community. It differs from something like Stardew, where the character is very much not only an outsider but someone without a defined place in the community. Certainly, the character in that game is taking over their grandfather's old farm, but what does that mean for Pelican Town?
So, it makes sense there for the characters to be more weary, or uncertain about what your future will be like there. Contrasted to Mistria--you arrive specifically to fill a purpose. And the characters want to make sure your character fits in, feels comfortable, and has the community resources you need to do what you've been brought into do.
There's still secrets and intercommunity drama at play, but it is softened. It slips out here and there, but the majority of the town is focused on trying to get you to help, but also stay and help rebuild, revitalize, and grow Mistria.
I just really like it. I think the writing is one of the strongest parts of the game thus far, and I am excited to see where it goes once we're past this early stage and get into more of the middle stage of the characters and town past 4 hearts.

So excited for the pastel hair colours added today. Finally a proper pale dusty pink for Faeriebell's hair. I do wish the eye colours could feature some that are a bit lighter, but I am happy to finally have the little swatches in the corners to see what colour they're meant to be.
#fields of mistria //#willohwisp rambles#i just want light pink eyes for faeriebell but the red/maroon tone is nice for now uwu

I have had the outline of an alternate universe for Fields of Mistria I'd really like to get into for awhile now (since about the first week the early access opened). I want to draw and write for it, but... I am still on the edge of like: I probably should wait for a bit more of the game before deep diving into this (I say as if I haven't already written like 6 pages of notes).
I love the world of Fields of Mistria and how much we already have to work on that it can spawn this sort of thing even this early on...
