A low chuckle slipped past his lips when Cordelia conceded that washing dishes would be more than enough reason to cook dinner for someone. Which, absolutely fair -- Cage didn't mind cooking, he loved cooking, but he could understand why people relied on take-out and going out to eat when he stood in the middle of his kitchen and looked around at all of the dishes that needed scrubbed, the ingredients that needed put away. "Anything for you," he murmured, "I hate laundry, though -- but I suspect you choosing laundry over dishes is because you don't have a teenaged son at home," and that meant that she wasn't having to pick clothes out from under a bed without knowing when they were last worn, or what the hell happened to them. Especially when that kid was also an athlete. "Yeah, well," he let out a low laugh when she pointed out the dirty talk, lowering his voice to a gravelly rumble, "wait until I tell you all about how I'm going to take out the trash and clean out your gutters," which actually sounded like a horrible euphemism, but that was the risk that you took when trying to seduce your partner.

A slow, steady smirk slid across his face, thinking that his mission was accomplished the moment that she mentioned her knees being weak. After all, it had been a few days since he had gotten to spend time with her, and truth be told, they had both been busy enough that they didn't get to spend as much time doing exactly what they were doing… even with the kids in the next room. "Mhm, I know," he scoffed, rolling his eyes, "raccoons and bears are not friends, just Willie, Twix and the chickens. Everything else is friends from afar," as long as she wasn't rushing up to a moose and declaring that it was her best friend ever, they would probably be okay. … or cross that bridge when they got there. "All you have to do is look at me to get me hot and bothered, Cor," his laugh was heated, desperate, because it was true. And had very little to do with her talking about farmhouses, but she knew that. And she knew that telling him not to stop was a dangerous game, too, that look in her eyes even more deadly. "Go upstairs," the words didn't come out as a suggestion, but they weren't quite an order -- she was always free to tell him no. "I'll put a movie on for the kids, something with lots of music," his brow quirked the tiniest bit, knowing that the more occupied they were -- although Colton's nose would be buried in his phone -- the better. For reasons. "Make yourself comfortable." He leaned in to kiss her quickly, entire body brushed against hers, letting her feel how much he wanted her, mouth hard, not relenting until he pulled back, not giving her a chance to argue as he started for the living room.

The slight burden of dating your high school sweetheart? He knew everything about her, even when she tried to pretend like she was different, or would be different. Sure, they had changed through the years but the fundamentals of who they were, what they believed in, that didn't change and Cage could call her out on it if he wanted it. "Well now if you're offering to wash the dishes I can't even complain about cooking you dinner." A smirk tugging across her plush soft rosy lips, "You do know dishes are like my most hated thing to do, I even rather do laundry." she gasped as if that was almost sacrilegious to think such a thing, but to her dishes were far worse than laundry. "Oh and he talks dirty to me." she teased when saying he would even put the dishes away when he was done washing them. Of course, that would be their joking foreplay, tell the other person you'd feed them or take care of chores and fall right into their hands like putty. It was the simple things these days, not always the big grand gestures. A soft throaty noise came from parted lips when he said about it being their future, not just his, not just hers, but theirs.

"If you're trying to make me go weak in the knees you're accomplishing things all too well." she husked softly keeping her voice low while the kids entertained themselves. "Not all animals are friends, even if they are friend shape, Cage." she giggled, "and we have to teach her that before she thinks she can make friends with every animal." she pointed out, because her luck she would absolutely try and make friends with something like a raccoon or something more dangerous. "What can I say after how many years I know how to turn you on, would be pretty bad if I couldn't get you hot and bothered." The teasing smirk on her lips all too amused by their conversation. "Mm good." Another throaty sound of words fluttering from deep in her chest, "Don't stop." she breathed, a hitching catching in her breath as his mouth warmed against her neck, feeling the brush of each part of his lips against her skin causing goosebumps to erupt on her skin. When his eyes met hers, that familiar clouding in them of lust she knew hers mirrored his as her supple tongue darted out and licked over her bottom lip wetting it some. "Oh very caveman and manhandle moment, I wouldn't say no to you doing just that to me at some point. Might even make it worth your wild once upstairs."

im rewatching jatp instead of studying for the 3 tests i have tomorrow and i thought i would share my thoughts and reactions with each episode so enjoy!!....

wake up

- hearing the “1, 2, 3″ at the start of the episode gives me more serotonin than my antidepressants ever will

- julie’s slippers...that’s it...that’s the thought

- that dry ass pasta the molina’s are eating for dinner??? someone needs to give my man ray some cooking tips or a cookbook... something

-the looks the boys give julie when she says it was an OLD cd she found. as if they could be old??

-the entire julie and luke kitchen scene i mean there are no words to describe how much i am in love with scene. the banter, the flirting, luke giving this girl he literally just met an actual PIECE OF HIS SOUL so she can get music back into her life. not a single time have i watched that scene and not felt my heart literally grow cause of how cute they are. 

-the entire scene when julie is singing wake up. that scene is what made me literally CRAVE watching the other episodes. like of course i was going to watch them cause i wasn’t gonna just stop watching a show after one episode, and yes the show was good already but seeing the lighting and her voice, and just everything about the scene,,,,*chef’s kiss*

We’re still working through the whole group reshuffle, at least in part, so yet another talking session. Still a lot of fun.

Upon returning from town and the Moose Incident, Clarity got hugged by kids. Then went into Hearthhome and got hugged by parents.

Farideh is learning magic and has managed to pick up Prestidigitation. Be afraid.

Darvin asked to spar with Froseth. Following in a grand tradition of “other party members trying to spar with Froseth”, this did not end particularly well for Darvin, who didn’t even get a hit in since Froseth ended the spar in one move.

Remi and Alisaie went to pick up Riswynn from the quartermaster. Riswynn stated that she would not be accompanying them to Star Coast, or afterwards; that instead she would go to the Cathay Farm with the rest of the Hearthheart family to help safeguard them, and then go on to try to see if she could infiltrate Cragvere for information about what’s going on underground.

Hazel cooked dinner. It went well! Clarity baked Hazel a cake for her birthday. This did not go as well because the Hand of Fate decreed that Evan, who Geloe had turned into a raccoon for moving her furniture again, tried to get into it while the others were eating the regular dinner and managed to drop it all over himself, and on the floor.

Riswynn had arranged for the green dragon hide that Alisaie brought in to be turned into armour for a taller person than a dwarf, but Clarity still had to go in for measurements. Apparently Clarity is still uncomfortable about even the most clinical comments about her bust.

The quartermaster gave Hazel some presents - a Hat of Holding and an assortment of candy that’s basically somewhere between Willy Wonka and Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. It was fun. Might even be useful in combat. They actually have plans to find the shop the next time they’re in Egref.

Hazel shared some of the less ... active candies. This resulted in some cheekiness of the Evan variety. Evan’s going to be dangerous when he’s older. (Hell, he’s dangerous now.)

They sat down to discuss some plans for going forward, which started as trying to figure out what they had to do in town before they left but turned into way too much planning of a battle they can’t entirely anticipate with a foe that may turn up or may send something else entirely. For in town, they need to check in with the baron of Goldendale / rightful king of Baronsvere, get Darvin’s chestplate back from Jenna - and Alisaie wants to get a good solid length of chain to make the best use of Heat Metal - and check in with Lanark for a ranged weapon for Clarity, and possibly a new one for Hazel so they don’t have to take the crossbow off Riswynn. Meanwhile Froseth is going to keep meditating to see if he can get any sense of what they actually need to do in order to revive the heart of Star Coast. Then they head for Star Coast as soon as possible to Do The Thing.

     One Piece has hundreds of characters, and over the past year I’ve celebrated the birthdays of only about a few hundred or so of them. So I’d like to take the time to mention every One Piece character without a birthday. Some don’t have birthdays because they’ve debuted too recently, some have no birthdays because they have been forgotten. Some have no birthdays because we haven’t gotten to that yet, even though they’ve existed for a long time and we remember them.     I used the names that they are given on the wiki, as opposed to their Official English names, if they even have one. I did this so that you can simply search their names on the One Piece Wiki and learn about them, if any interest you. However, a couple of them are so obscure that they don’t even have their own pages, in which case you will only be able to fine them here.

  Next we will honor all non-canon characters. These characters appeared in filler, movies, specials, OVAs, one-shots, video games, or any other material that was officially made but not part of the manga. These characters are gaurunteed to never get a birthday, and that is a curse they bear. Now some non-canon characters, such as Gion and Tokikake, debut in non-canon and then later appear in canon, making them canon characters, and thus giving them a chance to have a birthday. However, this is such a rare case, that I wouldn’t count on it, especially for non-canon characters that debuted years ago.

    Lastly, I want to honor all characters, canon and non-canon, with no names. The majority of these characters are just extras that only appeared in one panel or shot. But there’s a couple that are actually memorable, such as that one guy that was in Spandine’s group, or the masked CP-0 members. Some of these people can actually get names eventually. For example, Don Quixote Mjosgard was a nameless character for the longest time, until in the Reverie he became important and was given a name. I cannot list these nameless characters, as they have no names, but I do still want to honor them, and hope that one day they will be given names and have birthdays.

Fiction - Lobster Claws

A set of circumstances, mine domestic, yours geographical, had led to us to cook a Christmas Lobster together. We had had to buy a new pot from the Pakistani commercial cooking store down the road because none of the pots I owned were big enough to house a live crustacean. As we were walking down the street, you almost started skipping in excitement. The dark, depressing cold and our thick down parkers that would normally only allow for michelin-man-style movements were briefly forgotten and you started telling me about your family in Australia. How every Christmas your dad would cook lobster on the bbq and your sisters would fight over who got the tail. But you prefered the claws. You would break them open carefully so that you could pull out the white, tender flesh in one go.

Inside my tiny basement kitchen, the combination of sub-zero degrees on the outside and hot cooking steam on the inside had completely covered the windows in meandering ice flower collages. It was as if we were in our own private iglo, entirely cut off from the world. I lowered the lobster into the salty water that was boiling inside the comically oversized pot. I didn’t want to do it. The lobster looked helpless, his imposing claws incapacitated by two absurd rubber bands. Sad and defeated, he reminded me of Free Willy. But you stood behind me rubbing my shoulders as if I were Adonis Creed convincing me that nobody could cook this lobster better than me. You had never actually made boiled lobster before and you admitted you were kind of scared of it. When I picked up the lobster, his legs dangled lifelessly from his body. I wondered whether he had just accepted his faith or if he was hoping I might carry him to freedom. Once immersed, his subdued blue colour turned an unnatural tomato red and the air escaping his shell let out a bone chilling scream. I wretched inaudibly. All the while you were tapping your Doc Martens in an eager dance, rubbing your delicate palms together, like a shaman conjuring a monsoon during dry season. As we were both gazing into the pot my glasses steamed over and all I could discern were your ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahhhs’ gently brushing my ear and your velvety perfume penetrating the smell of boiling seafood.

Shoulder to shoulder, we waited in complete silence for 12 minutes. I felt grateful the lobster had given his life for this moment. Suddenly my phone alarm snapped us out of our trance. You clapped your hands, picked up the plastic tongs lying on the kitchen counter and waved them at me, your eyes big with anticipation. It was time for me to retrieve the lobster carcass. In death, it turned out, the lobster had regained his fighting spirit and magically freed himself from my grip each time I managed to lift him just an inch from his scorching bath. I twisted my arms like an extortionist with impaired mobility in order to maneuver the lobster out of the pot but before I could even reach my  grandma’s porcelain plate, he once again wriggled himself free and landed on the kitchen tiles with an inelegant plonking sound. I froze. I stared at you, my cheeks as red as the christmas dinner on the floor. I could feel hot tears forming at the edges of my eyes. I didn’t want to ruin the evening. I didn’t want to disappoint the lobster.

That’s when you started laughing so hard I could see your teeth. Usually, you would cover your mouth whenever something made you smile, a video of fat raccoon trying to desperately jump up a fence or a sarcastic punchline in a New Yorker comic. But in this moment you forgot your inhibitions. Your eyes were reduced to tiny slits, pushed out of view by your bulging cheeks. You hunched over with painful delight nearly spilling the red wine in your hand. A laugh so honest and visceral it gave me no choice but to join in. As we both stood in my kitchen crying with laughter, the lobster sprawled out between us, I knew he had not died in vain. ’Come on’ you said ‘I show you how to crack the claws.’
