I have been going over the seasons looking for all the evidence of the whole epic primary color theory connected to El, Mike and Will. And ngl this moment right here had me spiralling.

THE SAD PAUSE UPON THE REALIZATION WILL IS STILL MISSING AND THAT EVEN THOUGH HE HELPED THIS GIRL WHO WAS LOST IN THE WOODS AND HOPED IT WAS A SIGN, IT PROBABLY DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING. WHICH MEANS HE'S STILL FOCUSED ON FINDING WILL. LIKE WHY DID HE NEED TO TAKE THAT YELLOW CLIP WITH HIM UPSTAIRS?!?!? WHAT WAS THE REASON? WHY IS THE MF RAINBOW IN FRAME?!?! Parallels

I was working on this post and saw these Willel parallels. I took a couple of screenshots, because I noticed something.

Here. Axel mentions schizofrenia as he touches his neck, like Will and Henry (more at the end of the post (*)

In psychiatry, the name Soteria stands for "an alternative low-drug milieu-therapeutic approach to acute schizophrenia".

Also, interesting tattoos, Axel.

Brain damaged. I've talked about this one. I think it's not a coincidence that we only get a close up of it during the police chase in 2x01, because later Axel wears this mask. Same mask at Melvald's, and it's also a parallel to how Brenner Senior looks when he comes back from Dimension X (in S3 Mike says that using too much power could damage El's brain)

I could be wrong, but that little tattoo on his cheekbone reminds me of the blood stain on Henry's cheeckbone. The one that keeps changing, from an X to a Y

And then there's the claw scratching Axel's skin. They're definitely hinting at something, here.

More parallels

In S3, Steve and Robin are the "twins", Dustin calls them Tweedledee and Tweedledum, characters in an English nursery rhyme

And in Through the looking glass, the sequel to Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. The man who fries Terry's brain is Ray Carroll.

In the TV show Ray is watching, a kid wakes up from a nightmare, hugs his dog and tells his father that he dreamt that his doctor was giving him his shot in his arm. Will being drugged in S2, yes, but the mention of the dog also makes me think about Chester and the vanishing scene.

In fact, El opens the door of Ray's house, like the Demogorgon opens the chain lock in S1.

Another interesting thing is that Ray Carroll did three tours in Vietnam as a MSC officer, so there's also a connection to Hopper (here). And speaking of drugs, Carroll and Alice in Wonderland,

in the 60s and 70s, Alice became a slang term for LSD

There are many references to rabbits and Alice in the show. Alice Creel says that their new house is like a dream. Her brother kills a rabbit, in S1 Jon says that his father forced him to shoot a rabbit. I could go on (and talk about the cigarettes), but here I want to focus on Hopper, Ray, El and Terry.

Carroll->Alice in Wonderland->Alice->slang for LSD (Kali's powers and her nickname K are also connected to drugs/mind control)

All the times someone mentions LSD or the word psychedelic, they're talking to Hopper

Powell in 1x03: "LSD mind control experiments"

In 1x06 Becky talks about LSD and psychedelics and then says that Hopper and Terry would've gotten along

Owens in 2x02: "These patterns here are really pretty. I like the design. It's almost psychedelic."

I doubt this is a random line. Look at the orange books behind Owens. In S4 Hopper says that Uncle Sam wanted him to fight in some jungle, and in Vietnam he was exposed to Agent Orange. Yeah, it's all connected to Will, El, Terry, Hopper and Joyce.

(*) There's so much in this shot. The fire and the car make me think about an accident (here, here and here). And Axel touching his neck while mentioning dream circles seems to hint at powers and timeloops

Later in the episode we actually see a burnt car and, imo, a hint at One. No. Ace-> Number One.

Is it meaningful that the colors associated with them (when they are most themselves) are all primary?

It feels meaningful.

Or maybe it's that purple is my favorite color, so I think I would have noticed if there was a lot of it in significant contexts, but I do remember a lot of green, and THAT feels meaningful.

but I was thinking that the color theory fits with the idea that El is red? also El likes purple I think and it makes sense with Mike being blue.... and Will being yellow of course

and we keep seeing the pattern of colors through the season of red, blue and yellow... but also white!

Also the white is "outside" and doesn't mix... meaning El being finally... indipendent?

El has been wearing a lot of white too in the end of s4 🤔

Comparing WillEl to Mike x El or even Mike x Will is a pointless and silly effort.

Will and El are not a romantic ship. They're not even just friends at this point, they're brother and sister. What do you gain by insisting "SO AND SO ARE CLOSER!"

It really doesn't matter, this is not a battle of the ships. Will and El ARE close, they are close in a way that can't be compared to a romantic ship.

Put it this way. Would you ever claim that Lucas and Max MUST be closer than Lucas and Erica? I mean, doesn't that just sound stupid? You simply cannot compare those two entirely different relationships.

Another example. Would anyone say Mike and El are closer than Nancy and Mike? I mean, I'm sure some people would, but isn't that weird to even bring up??? Mike and Nancy are SIBLINGS.

The relationship you have with your sibling can be distant, close, or even negative. But it is still different than relations you have with your friends or romantic interests.

If you even start trying to compare a platonic sibling bond against a romantic one, stop. Please acknowledge you're feeling insecure about your romantic ship and please realize you're trying to compare apples to oranges. Please realize your efforts are fruitless and a waste of time and energy.

All the time people spend arguing about who is closer to who could be spent making fanart, fanfiction, or anything else useful for actual fandom enjoyment.

Something about Patrick and the parallels with Will and El.

They are at Benny's here, a place connected to El. Jason's outfit is white, like Henry's. Patrick's t-shirt is orange (Agent Orange), and there are #12 and Christmas lights behind him. All things connected to Will.

Also, Jason and red and yellow lights, Willel colors, above the letters W and E!

I always found strange that they ignored this poor kid and his story. We never even saw his Vecna visions, only the grandfather clock. But after my S4 rewatch, I have a theory.

Patrick has many parallels with Will, and him being ignored might be one of them. Patrick is empathetic, like Will. He has a violent father, like Will. And if my theory of the car accident is correct, even his death in Lover's Lake could be a hint at Will/Willel story.

A lot of people have pointed out that they never showed his visions. But if you think about it, we don't know what Will saw in the UD either. And in S3 and S4 he's been sidelined too. So maybe that's another parallel. I actually made this connection because Patrick is the only victim whose story was never explored.

It's also interesting that the only vision they show is of the grandfather clock, at a funeral. They had a funeral for Will...

And since Will has some big parallels with the Turtle, a character of IT and The Dark Tower series (here, one of my favorite theories) maybe the name Patrick is a reference to Patrick Danville, another character of The Dark Tower. An artist who (SPOILER) has the ability to draw pictures that become or alter reality. He draws the Unfound Door (Will and all the door and key imagery!) that allows one of the characters, Susannah, to leave Roland's world. Hmm. Patrick's death in ST opens a gate in the lake...

Patrick Danville also plays a critical role in the defeat of the Crimson King. He draws a picture of him, only to erase it from existence. The only part of the King that he can't erase are his red eyes.

The chess club scene in 4x01 is foreshadowing of El and Henry playing chess in the lab. And I noticed another black boy with an orange shirt, so I rewatched the scene in 4x07.

Since the writers love to invert things in their parallels, I think this is very interesting. Imo, it's evidence that there are indeed paralles between Patrick and Will/Willel.

El, a girl with short hair, plays black. Henry, a man, longer hair, plays white (plus, the yellow, orange and red of the rainbow)

In this shot, a black boy with an orange t-shirt plays white. And a girl with longer hair plays black.
