I went through a big Evelyn Waugh kick in my later college years, starting with Brideshead Revisited and continuing through his humor - the Bright Young Things film came out around this same time - and the idea of writing some new BR fic is appealing... But the idea of a reread is less so. I'll never forget, ever since I read an anecdote about him from his son Auberon describing how his family had received an allotment of bananas from the government, and none of the kids had ever had banana before, but Waugh ate them all himself, I've been put off him. Seems minor but just rubs me the wrong way, lol. Like seriously, what an asshole.
