🔥 Bahkauv by @deluxewhump - Three friends traveling to the city stop off at a hunters camp to purchase a vampire for one of them to research at the university he will be attending. They purchase something a little different instead. (monster/vampire-adjacent whumpee, rescue/recovery, caretaker new master, burns, torture)

🧙‍♀️ Demon's Haven by @whumpwillow - Summoning demons for requests with a price far less expensive than one’s undying soul is common practice for witches, especially those who practice dark magic. Haven just wants to unlock a grimoire she found with the help of demonic magic, yet she ends up not in a battle of wits and wills but comforting a tortured and traumatized demon. (demon whumpee, rescue/recovery, desperate begging whumpee, accidental whump, caretaking)

💔 Shattered by @oddsconvert - Years of being held captive, under the vampires brutal persusasion has finally broken Declan, shattered his mind. Not living but not quite dead, paralysed in a comatose-like state. Vince decides his once delicious bloodbag has finally reached its end, selling it during it’s final few days. When August sees the advert for the dying human, he knows what he must do. Taking on the responsibility of nursing Declan back to health - though he is woefully unprepared for just how deep and severe the damage is and the hardships that will arise whilst tackling it. It isn't the foolish sort of idle dreaming that one reads about in adventure tales, no – he doesn't moon about in picturesque arched windows, pressing his hand to his chest and sighing. But he does hope sometimes, furtive and distantly yearning, in the same way he still prays to gods who never listen, every now and again. 3. What is their love language?

Physical Touch but you can really call it squishing tight.

Julia is clingy. It gives her a sense of safety—and of control. She was called a magpie and has her patronus in a form of a rattlesnake for a reason. A caring friend, a ferocious defender, sharp as claws & fangs. Holding onto you to give you comfort—and secure it.

Poppy hasn't abandoned child-like behaviour of giving a tight hug to those she loves; I want to call it the consequence of growing up too fast but I'm not sure if that's a correct assessment. Anyway, she retains that understanding of comfort—of expressing herself in the most basic yet comprehensible, understandable, familiar-to-all way.

Imelda has thick skin. Both figuratively and literally. Hug her. Hugh her a little tighter to let her know you adore and love her. A clever manipulation on her side because just a hug is enough for her to get stunned by the fact she's indeed liked this much; she'll hug back as tightly as if she's carrying a quaffle.

7. Who likes forehead kisses? Who likes hand kisses? Who likes neck kisses?

Forehead: Poppy. She will red from hairline to chin.

Hand: Julia. She craves these kisses after flying the broom in a cold weather. So warm and homely.

Neck: Imelda. Pest control method. A way to tell her to shut up and be unreasonable in a delightful sense without a single word.

23. Who said "I love you" first?

Julia was a useless lesbian to Poppy. That girl is so obvious you will cry at her indecisiveness and tries to understand her feelings. Yet she's so blunt about things it will also make one cry. She is STUPID and Poppy fell head over heels for this adorable fledgling.

Imelda was the first to tell it with Julia. Because Julia was a tease and would not for the life of her read Imelda as being flirty or more, very much love goggles on. Julia is that girl at the club who drinks everything you order and says 'a good evening, we should gather up some day later, bye ^ ^' So Imelda had to sit her down and confess.

Just so you understand the scope of her uselessness: in situations where Julia expects flirting aka in non-friendhsips, she will read the room instantly.

And Poppy said the words to them after Imelda was done with her awkward confession.

24. Who kissed who first?

Julia and Poppy's first was mutually shared.

Imelda was first with Julia.

Poppy looked at it and decided to suck the life out of Imelda. She nearly did.

WiJ Mini-Series Reading Order

Okay, so I actually managed this last year, so let's see if I can do it again! I really liked the way I did it last year, so the way it will work this year is: I'll write all of the prompts and post them, and they will act as a first draft. I will then take time afterward to stitch them all together and make a short fic that I can be proud of and list on my SP masterpost :)

WIJ Day 7 - Favorite Whump Fic

I will not choose a favorite because there are too many to consider, and that would take forever. Instead, I'll share one I really enjoy! Which is the lovely fic Salvage by MuffinLance (@muffinlance)!

This fic made me fall in love with the ocean/ship setting, and absolutely gave me a love for ship-crew:outsider dynamics. I love the emotional relationships between the characters, and I thought it was fantastic how Zuko and Hakoda really change their views and relationships with each other throughout the story. This FIRMLY made me a Hakodad enthusiast. Lovely angst and wonderful comfort. And beautiful writing! A very good fic overall :)

Somohardjo staat stil bij campagne tegen gendergerelateerd geweld

Op 25 november start de jaarlijkse Sixteen Days of Activism Against Genderbased Violence Campaign. Tijdens deze wereldwijde campagne wordt aandacht gevraagd voor gendergerelateerd geweld. Ook in Suriname wordt stilgestaan bij deze campagne van 16 Dagen van Activisme tegen Gendergerelateerd geweld Campagne. Twee belangrijke data hierbij zijn: 25 november, de Internationale Dag ter Uitbanning van Geweld tegen Vrouwen en 10 december, de Internationale Dag van de Rechten van de Mens. Minister Bronto Somohardjo van Binnenlandse Zaken (BIZA) zegt dat deze data zijn gekozen om te benadrukken dat gendergerelateerd geweld één van de meest voorkomende schending van mensenrechten is. “Gedurende deze periode wordt wereldwijd extra aandacht geschonken aan het geweld dat vrouwen en meisjes wordt aangedaan. Tijdens voornoemd campagne wordt doorgaans de kleur oranje gebruikt om hiermee te symboliseren dat vrouwen en meisjes, net als elk ander, ook recht hebben op een toekomst die helder en vrij van geweld is”, aldus de bewindsman. Het thema van de Verenigde Naties voor 2023 is: “UNITE! Invest to Prevent Violence against Women & Girls”! Men zal zich richten op het belang van het investeren in verschillende preventiestrategieën om geweld in eerste instantie te voorkomen. Hierbij zullen belangrijke platforms worden gebruikt om daadkracht te vergroten en collectieve inspanningen te stimuleren om geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes te voorkomen. Minister Somohardjo: “Het is inderdaad belangrijk, zoals het voornoemd thema dat aangeeft, dat wij ons dienen te verenigen en nu meer dan ooit moeten investeren om geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes tegen te gaan, want de onderstaande feiten spreken voor zich.” De bewindsman zegt dat meer dan 1 op de 3 vrouwen in de wereld tijdens haar leven te maken krijgt met gendergerelateerd geweld. In het Caribisch gebied schijnt het voorkomen van geweld tegen vrouwen hoger te zijn. Uit surveys die tussen 2016 en 2019 zijn uitgevoerd in vijf Caribische landen, namelijk in Grenada, Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago en Suriname is gebleken dat gemiddeld bijna 1 op de 2 oftewel 46 procent van de vrouwen tussen 15 en 64 jaar die ooit een partner hebben gehad, tijdens hun leven minstens één vorm van geweld: lichamelijk, geestelijk, financieel, en seksueel hebben ervaren. Specifiek voor Suriname kan worden aangegeven, dat van de vrouwen en meisjes die ooit een partner hebben gehad en momenteel 15 tot 64 jaar oud zijn, ongeveer 1 op 3 op enig moment in hun leven minstens één handeling van lichamelijk of seksueel geweld van een intieme partner heeft ervaren. Eveneens blijkt uit voorlopige data van de Dienst Criminele Informatie Voorziening (DCIV) dat het aantal meldingen van femicide over de jaren 2020, 2021 en 2022 respectievelijk 10, 7 en 10 zijn. Geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes brengt volgens de BIZA-minister economische kosten met zich mee voor individuen, gezinnen en de samenleving als geheel. Verschillende landen hebben een schatting gemaakt van de kosten van geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes om te begrijpen wat de economische impact van geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes is op de nationale economie en te bepalen welke investeringen nodig zijn om dit te verminderen of zelfs te elimineren. Wereldwijd onderzoek wijst uit dat de kosten van geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes ongeveer 2 procent van het bruto binnenlands product (BBP) zouden kunnen bedragen. Uit recent onderzoek in Jamaica is gebleken dat de totale geschatte kosten van geweld tegen vrouwen in 2018 meer dan 1 miljard dollar bedroegen of 6,49 procent van het bruto binnenlands product. Daarnaast bevestigt wereldwijd onderzoek ook dat ongelijke machtsverhoudingen tussen vrouwen en mannen geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes aanwakkeren en in stand houden. Het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken, met als werkarm het Bureau Gender Aangelegenheden (BGA) draagt voornamelijk door middel van bewustwordingsacties bij aan deze internationale campagne en tracht partners zoals overheidsinstanties, de media, het bedrijfsleven, religieuze organisaties, vrouwen en gendergerichte organisaties ook te betrekken in de aanpak van dit vraagstuk. De preventie van geweld tegen vrouwen en meisjes is uiteindelijk de verantwoordelijkheid van ons allen om ervoor te zorgen dat alle mensen, in deze in het bijzonder, elke vrouw en elk meisje een leven kan leiden dat vrij is van geweld. “De geschetste situatie en de uitdagende tijd waarbij fondsen steeds schaarser worden, verplichten ons om meer dan ooit samen te werken om zo op een efficiënte wijze strijd te leveren tegen het geweld dat vrouwen en meisjes wordt aangedaan en een leefomgeving te creëren dat vrij is van geweld”, zegt minister Somohardjo verder. “Als minister verantwoordelijk voor genderaangelegenheden roep ik eenieder op om samen te werken aan een samenleving welke vrij is van gendergerelateerd geweld. The Fighter by @hold-him-down

It's amazing. I've reread it several times, and it's one of the few series I've actively remembered and searched for to reread, without it appearing on my dash again first. I'm... not sure what to say about it really. But I love Leo, and Luke, and their relationship. And Rob, obviously. It's so good!

A Show/Movie/Book/Series that Gives Me Whumperflies

Honestly? I'm far too picky about whumpees and I don't consume all that much media (especially not these days since i have my own purpose-built character who is capable of hitting just about EVERYTHING I like) to have many items to rave about ^-^'

HOWEVER.

That does not mean that there is nothing :)

I'll go right back to the start, in fact (in rough order)... just keep in mind that I don't watch for whump, and these aren't whump recommendations except for one lmao, they're just what have managed to give me whumperflies in the past.

Cybergirl (2001-02)

An Australian sci-fi superhero T.V. series that was airing in the morning when I was a young kid, maybe 6 or 7, back before I understood how T.V. scheduling worked lol. I don't often get whumperflies from media, but I think this time, I did, and it's actually my earliest memory of whumperflies.

Cy ended up trapped in a Big Fancy House by the Big Bad, Rhyss. It's been many years since I last re-watched the show so I don't remember a whole lot except there was a lot of urgency and a zappy barrier that Cy couldn't pass through, and I definitely got some kind of feeling about that :)

The writing was very average, not very substantial for an older viewer, but it was excellent for a kids' show. There was so much lore that just never got expanded on, and it didn't go particularly hard with the whump :')

H2O Just Add Water (2006-10)

To no one's surprise, I ADORED this series as a kid. My obsession with mer had just started, and honestly, this shit FED ME. This was another Australian show that I watched when I was fairly young (again, 6-7 and onward), but I don't recall watching it when it aired. I instead had a collection of DVDs.

The girls and co got into some pretty interesting hijinks while trying to guard their fishy little secrets, but shit got REAL in season 6 when a marine biologist coworker of the friend of the girls' Lewis managed to leave a sample of their skin/scale in the lab... OOPS.

You can guess where that lead-- the scientist trying to track down the owner of the magic scale that could turn back into skin (somehow lmao, ~magic~), and she eventually trapped the girls in their little grotto with a gate that she had installed at the underwater entrance of their grotto spot on Mako Island.

Here's where I mention that I did not actually get whumperflies from this lmao, but it was a close one (the scientist didn't go far enough lmao). That's okay though :) One self indulgent decision just under 10 years later sure fixed that :))

Vampire Knight Anime (2008, English Dub aired in Aus in 2011)

The whole show. Every episode. I'm not even kidding. (Well, just about every episode lol, there was maybe only one where I didn't). As many problems as I have with the series, (mainly that every time I see Yuuki or hear her voice I want to strangle her), Zero was just so. fucking. scrunchy-- almost the perfect whumpee ^-^ And the English voice actor does such a glorious job of voicing Zero's pain, the whole series is ABSOLUTELY worth enduring Yuuki's stupidity.

Iirc, my favourite episode was Crimson Chains-- full of spoilers, a lot of plot bits come together at that point, so I can't say much other than that Zero's lost his shit and has a whole big scene where he writhes and pants on the floor with the agony of his hunger. I am convinced the author ALSO liked that XD

I would sit at night and watch that episode over and over and over because man, those whumperflies were something else, super intense, 11/10 lmao

Doctor Who (1963-present)

Nine had that one episode where he got caught by some collector dude and tortured to figure out what made him tick, or rather that he had TWO hearts that made him tick... Fun times, that DEFINITELY gave me whumperflies and had me furtively returning to the episode to keep watching that scene.

A lot of Ten's run had me by the throat, most memorably his regeneration at the start of his run, and his regeneration at the end directly after an hour (approximately) of whump was. AMAZING. I kept coming back to the start and end 😅

There were a couple more times I got whumperflies throughout his run. The main episodes that come to mind are Midnight, set on the planet of sapphires and lethal radiation, and 42, involving a spaceship hurtling toward a sun.

There was only one more whumpy instance, and that was that one movie they made. I forget who, when... EVERYTHING except the dude that played looked like Gene Wilder and it took place on NYE of the new millenium. It was another shitfight with The Master. ANYWAY. The whumperflies were at the START of the movie when The Doctor wasn't doing so well, I think he got shot?? And then rushed to the hospital, all while trying to avoid that and trying to communicate that they'll kill him

Supernatural (2005-20)

Ok. This one is weird in two ways. I forget which episode it was, but it was season 2 where Sam and Dean were trying to kick a group of vampires out of a town, but they were actually cool/chill vampires...?

Or at least some of them were...

ANYWAY.

This other hunter had this vampire chic tied to a chair baaaasically torturing her...? Memory's a bit foggy on what exactly what they were doing (the brainworms wouldn't stop wriggling about AUs), but I got these itty bitty whumperflies from that vampire lady getting hurt. That was weird because 1) I've only had whumperflies off the ladies once before watching Cybergirl which was SO long ago, and 2) I never have had them from watching a side-character, I usually have to be emotionally invested.

Weird right?? Absolutely wild though!

Anyway, that's pretty much everything, even though I've seen and read a fair few things lol, hope you enjoyed my rambling!

Day 7: Brag about a creator or piece of whump you think is underrated.

There’s a fic about a character’s PTSD from the anime Psycho-Pass that so brilliantly captures the horrifying before-and-after of a character who went through 4 years of ruthless captivity. It’s like the word and phrasing eerily creep up on you as the reader and it leaves me going “Well sh*t, so this is happening..” many times throughout the story. legs swept out from under them, knees knocked out from behind them, shoved backwards unable to stop their fall. their arms or ankles being tied makes it so hard to balance or slow their descent to the floor and it hurts every time

forced to stand on an edge, teetering. they can’t see and don’t know how long the drop is. could be a yard, could be a mile

Jolting awake with the sensation, heart thundering in their ears and unable to quit trembling even though they know it’s just a memory.

WIJ Day 7: Underrated Content and Creators

I love love love Suffer the Little Children by Brihana25 on Ao3. It's a fantastic piece of Stargate SG-1 Daniel whump that got me to read the actual plot around it and enjoy it almost as much as the whump itself. When I need a comfort fic, this is the one I go to. I don't think she has a tumblr, but she is still active on Ao3 and her most recent fic was posted early this year.
