Day 14

Had a very nice flow science session

Called a friend afterwards

Caught anxiety and cried a couple of hours in bed

Then I’ve shoot a couple of photos of me on camera with remote control, thought it’s a nice idea to picture progress of my health because I don’t even really look into mirror or engage in any social activities beside work so I don’t really feel that I have a body

Then a friend came over and we talked a lot, ordered a pizza and played Wii

But then I got headache and fever in the night so Sunday will be f*cked…

what would you say your best theatre going experience is? :)

i can’t pick just one so i’ll list some of my top ones

OOTI revival: i went to the Circle in the Square theatre and asked them what their cheapest seat was for that night (it was a Friday). i got the last $100 ticket for the performance and it was probably one of the best things i ever spent money on

Frozen Broadway: getting to see the full OBC

Curious Incident Tour: it was Easter Sunday and when i went to buy my student ticket, the box office attendant said that someone couldn’t make the show and asked whether i wanted their ticket, free of charge. ofc i said yes and it was like a fourth row ticket. now only was it free but it was an amazing show.

Hamilton Chicago: someone i’m not friends with anymore and i went to Chicago for a conference. the day we got in we went to the box office who said the cheapest seats they had were like $120. we left the theatre and looked on ticketmaster. someone had put resale tickets up for $50 (orchestra tix!) for the matinee, which was starting in like 30 minutes. that was a great show.

Groundhog Day: when i saw this show on my birthday (day of the eclipse in summer 2017) and during “Hope” there was a tech issue and they had to pause the show for like 10 min. i stagedoored after and the cast said that it hadn’t happened since previews.

the college production of Heathers i got to see as a member of the press (they sold out the run so they let me see the dress rehearsal). it was so fuckign good omg.

For the first few weeks back, the Queens had made a point to travel in a group and go on outings together, never leaving less than half home together. 

There were a few reasons for this- if they wandered out alone or in a pair, they were bound to be lost and confused within minutes. Teamwork had turned out to be the only way for them to adapt to this new society, much to their annoyance. 

On the same vein, the other large reason for this rule was that leaving any pair of Queens alone would most likely lead to an argument. A few times, they left a Queen alone at home, but after they returned to Kitty in a full-blown panic attack on the kitchen floor, they decided that it was most definitely best to stick together when at all possible.

Of course, this could only last for so long as their lives became more chaotic and different Queens gained different responsibilities outside of the home. Slowly, they began to entrust different Queens who didn’t argue often with staying home together or allowing a Queen who agreed to stay home alone to do so. This worked well for several weeks, and by the time their schedule with the show became so chaotic that more... unfortunate pairs were left together, all of the Queens had had basic reconciliations and all the necessary apologies had been made.

As such, the first time Seymour and Boleyn were left alone for the evening, the others barely hesitated to embark on their separate journeys. Even the two themselves were looking forward to a night to themselves rather than dreading a possible impending argument. The two had become somewhat close as the cousins connected over shared family trauma and found similarities between the three of them. Even considering their past controversy, any issues had been mostly resolved and they were prepared to continue building a good relationship.

Not long after the other four Queens went their separate ways, promising to be home by eleven, the two eldest cousins found themselves lounging in the living room and falling into more genuine conversation than they had had since the early days of reincarnation and reconciliations. 

“Annie-” Jane suddenly became meek and soft as she turned to the older Queen. Anne frowned softly but tilted her head as a signal to continue. Jane hesitated and smoke again, this time much quieter than the preceding relatively light conversation. “You- I- You know I never meant it, right?”

“Meant what, Jane?” Anne asked softly, though she already had an idea.

“You know...” The third Queen shifted awkwardly in her seat, “Back then. I never meant anything that happened.”

“Oh, of course not, Janey. I thought we already settled this.”

“Oh, we did, we did!” Jane hastily reassures, “I just wanted to make sure that you knew that I would never, ever, do anything to hurt you, even back then, when I didn’t know you as well.”

“Jane, love,” Anne sighed, resting a hand on her leg, “I know full well that you would rather give yourself up for any of us Queens before purposefully hurting us.”

“Really?”

“Well, you would, wouldn’t you?” Anne tilted her head knowingly.

“I mean... yeah, but any one of us would.” Jane shrugged.

“Perhaps that’s true but that doesn’t make it any less meaningful. We had a rough patch in the beginning but now we’re basically a family. Why were you even thinking about that?”

“...no reason,” Jane broke the brief eye contact and began to fidget restlessly with the hem of her shirt. Anne simply raised a disbelieving eyebrow and the younger woman sighed. “Just... rough nights and the like. Nothing you did, I promise, I’ve just been having a few... off days.”

“Nightmares?” Anne asked sympathetically, to which Jane nodded. “I’m sorry, mon amour. Katherine and I know all too well of nightmares- we all do. I promise we’d all understand and be more than willing to help if you needed half of the support you give us.” Anne squeezed the younger woman’s hand and smiled. “Now- not to awkwardly transition, but how do you feel about a movie night?”

Jane smiled widely and nodded, allowing herself to be pulled into Anne’s arms as she extracted the remote from between the cushions and flicked on the television.

By the time the other Queens returned home, just as the clock turned eleven as promised, the two were fast asleep in each other’s arms.

Say what you want about Nintendo being so family-oriented that it’s borderline saccharine, but its top dogs will go out of their way to make sure that the employees don’t have to make compromises to their own health or mental stability in order to meet a quota, let alone deliver a high-quality product. (Before anyone brings up Sakurai and Smash Bros Ultimate, he chose to do crunch for the sake of his admittedly hard-to-please fans. Developers themselves choosing to do crunch is another discussion entirely.)

Need I remind that, in the wake of the Wii U’s dismal sales, Satoru Iwata cut his total pay in half in order to avoid lay-offs and decreased paychecks? All the while, the top videogame companies in the US (that aren’t Nintendo of America) have its CEOs siphon the majority of the profits whilst the employees have to scrape by. That is, if they aren’t immediately laid off the next day.

It’s a really f*cked-up industry when most videogame companies based in the US consider this kind of crunch-perpetuating work environment the norm, and the company that treats its employees like they’re human beings with basic needs that have to be fulfilled in order to function is considered the “weird” or “baby” one.

A stupid headcanon about our beloved rat...

Even if he wants to hide it from everyone, he enjoys arts. He hides somewhere a sketch book full of doodles and some unfinished works. Also he hides a collection of paint brushes and he uses them for vandalism.

This is the only thing that can explain why he brings paintbrushes (in my opinion).

9. favorite food? least favorite? are they a picky eater? do they have any dietary restrictions? Well um. She ummm. She likes to eat meat ♡ JCJGKSKC her diet WOULD consist mainly of human meat if she weren't trying to stealthily live amongst humans, but aside from that! She LOVES fish, which is kind of a given ig but if she gets to pick what kind she REALLY likes it'd be freshwater fish like catfish or bass! She'd say its bc she's bored of saltwater fish (but she'd still gladly eat them if offered hehe) she's not very picky and is willingly to try/eat anything if necessary! Though if she's not desperate for food she'll avoid sour/bitter stuff, gives her The Ick. No dietary restrictions! Sirens are VERY hardy!

12. how long have they been around? do you know their birthday? is their birthday the day you made them or another day? what do they think of celebrating birthdays? Oh geez... in terms of being created? She (and Gregor, they were made as a pair!) has been around for... at LEAST 7 years! I may have given them special birthdays back then, but I only remember the signs I gave them now lol (Caelan is a gemini, Greg is a sagittarius!) In universe she's roughly 45-ish? Sirens live for a pretty long time, and she didn't start keeping track/celebrating birthdays until she met Greg! Caelan didn't really celebrate any holidays with her original siren school, they didn't see the purpose of celebrating the birthing of large clusters, but when she got ran off and forged a found-family bond with Greg she learned to appreciate it much more. She thinks they're silly and overhyped sometimes but she's never NOT enjoyed her brother's goofy b-day antics and does like being overly-pampered for a day hehe
