How many times have you played yttd at this point. Considering that you have a google doc analyzing almost every line in the game it's gotta be a lot

I've only played it through entirely twice.

I've made it halfway through or played a single chapter, then got distracted by something else, about seven times.

I love YTTD but it's a very long game for someone with ADHD.

oh boy, these two ... gotta say, it feels strange to read it as anything other than a toxic friendship, because ... that's what it is? it's obviously an unhealthy dynamic that greatly skews the power in Midori's favor, but they both have things to gain from it that keeps both of them around.

Midori's reasoning is obvious - he's there to monitor Shin, plus I'm sure he finds him and his minuscule percentage intriguing and worthy of a closer look at this candidate - but Shin's is a bit more subtle and a lot more tragic.

I forget if it's canon or just very popular fanon, but Midori seems to be Shin's only friend. Shin is very much aware of Midori's more toxic tendencies, but it's either this, or just. have no one. Shin understands there's strength in numbers even now.

but with enough time and distance put between them, Shin is finally able to shake the 'friendship' he must have felt chained to, and it's quite satisfying to see him so callously refuse to humor Midori in the Death Game - though that doesn't stop him from trying to appeal to the human part of him by calling him Hiyori at desperate times.

How do you think the trades in 2-2 would go if q-taro never made a deal with shin? I have an au in my mind for something like this but I don't really know how things would pan out without shin

This is interesting because I could see a lot of ways that could go!

A: Sara might've not gotten the sacrifice. We know that Shin got the extra coins to give her the card from Q-Taro, so he might've held onto his tokens if he had limited to spare. Instead of giving the card to Sara, it seems more likely that he would've kept the tokens to save himself or Kanna if they got traded the sacrifice.

B: With Shin being limited on making card trades, Q-Taro would need to figure out what to do with the sacrifice. I think Q-Taro would still try to get rid of it at this point, but it's debatable whether he'd be able to send it to an ally. If he sent it to anyone, I think it would be Shin, but even him I don't know if Q-Taro could kill. Nao would still end up with the sacrifice in the end, though, because of Gashu.

C: It seems like there would be a lot less confusion about the card trades overall. I think most of the cast is pretty open about what happened expect for Shin, so if you take him out of the equation along with any deals then the second main game would likely be less of a mess to figure out!

So I think the biggest things would be Q-Taro needing to decide to hold onto the card or send it away, and the second main game would be less complicated.
