i like how the game reinforces how subtly WRONG this new world is but at first its SUPER EASY to miss until you get back. undyne not having her eye patch is so easy to overlook.so is asriel being alive at all because why wouldn’t he be??? we all want him to be its fine. alphys not having very much self confidence or assertiveness even though her entire arc was about getting those things?? well that stuffs hard, not that weird. Then going into the library and seeing the glowing review of mew mew 2 from alphys i was like oh game u so crazy haha. but when it starts in IT STARTS. i swear to god undyne asking who alphys was literally stopped me dead i had to click through that option like three times because SURELY i was missing something i had to be wrong i had to be misreading. But then it gets deeper.

Okay this is much lighter but i literally screamed SANS UNDERTALE i could not believe i was actually seeing this in real life and then he told me he fucked my mom and i nearly called the police i hate toby fox

The animations are literally so good i know undertale saved them for big moments but this looks so good and smooth and i love it they��ve all grown so much.

so where exactly is this dark dimension, which what is the official name for that??? the dark world? lorule? nega underground? whatever but i wonder where it is in relation to this new world that chapter one takes place

Okay so as soon as alphys mentions susie i was like???? Because despite clam girl being a corner of undertale lore and theorizing i never dug into i knew of it and i know her dialogue was about getting to meet susie someday so how the hell does that fit into thjis??? Was there literally a hint for this game in undertale.

So this games theme does see diametrically opposed to undertale at the time of this writing. Undertale has over 20 different endings depending on what choices you make because the choices you make MATTER. The choice to be better even though its hard matters and so is the fact that people should always choose to be good when they can, because why wouldn’t you. And from what i’ve seen there is no real route to be found as of chapter 1. You cant actually kill anyone for EXP. people treat you like a hero no matter what you do. 

Determination is also SUSPCIOUSLY ABSENT. other than the fact that you can obviously still save the game and reset i dont think it gets a single mention.

Also lancer’s dad as of now seems like a scumbag, even at his worst asgore loved his children and lancer’s dad was ostensibly going to throw him off of that roof and kill three kids with no real benefit. No closing the barrier and freeing his people. He does keep mentioning his knight???? Which im sure will be touched on later but who is that??? The real mastermind??? Some unknown entity?? Interesting to say the least

they’re an empty shell right. numerous characters mention kris acting out of character when you get back. “why are you visiting my dad in the hospital” “why are you talking so much”. they’re side of the room has no decorations or personalizations. 

SO WHERE IN THE TIMELINE IS THIS??????? the possibilites babey!!!!

is this what the universe was like before gaster fell into the CORE??? a timeline where the war between humans and monsters never happened??? kris seems like the only human in the game or at least the only one we see.

obviously this is some kind of AU (toby trying his hand at creating his own i see) 

WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE FLOWERS IN ASGORES BACKROOM I YELLED WHAT IS THE LORE TOBY

So this was just a thing i noticed but there seem to be a lot of mentions of christianity with kris, asgore, asriel, and toriel which is….different. The book of hymns in the house, several mentions of attending church. You can talk to the minister and he mentions asriel singing in the choir (also he has religious ska CD’s under his bed lol). The biggest being that Noelle’s dad mentions kris and asriel trying and failing to make an angel in youth group. Which…..has to be a reference of the angel who will free the underground/empty it which is what gerson (RIP) said that people thought it represented it OG undertale. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TOBY

where exactly does void dad fall in all this. him being the narrator talking at the beginning of the game seems almost too easy but he’s also clearly there somehow??? (or part of him at least) you get gaster noises when you use the cell phone in the nega underground. hints of his music play. youre in the dark world and the first page of his science log is “darker darker yet darker”. theres also the hint to that one puzzle that i dont have screen caps on hand for but “sometimes the darker it is the more you can see”.

obviously he’s there somewhere but the biggest hint was the seeming theme of this game “your choices dont matter” with some of the only toby confirmed lore we have on him  “you’ve all seen the happiest outome. neither of them could fix the machine, no matter how hard they tried. no one can.” which i just realized isnt explicitly about gaster but i am like a waif in the corner living off scraps goddamnit.
