⪩⪨ thinking about girl dads <33
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"So...now if you put these numbers here and the x here-"
a pause of silence stretches with a incessant tapping of the pen hitting his chin in thought, "-then x equals to...6!"
The kid sighs, "Dad, it says 0 on here"
"What?! How?", he snatches the book from his daughter's hands, looking at the "0" that was marked as a answer with conflicting emotions. When did he forget 5th grade math?
More silence stretches before he lightly throws the offending maths book down on the table, "this book is clearly shit, i'm gonna teach you my way", huffing confidently he starts looking for the next question when a hand tinier than him takes the book away.
"First, the teacher in school told us to do it this way", sending a sarcastic smile his way, the 5th grader gathers all the books, notes and pencils scattered around the table,
"Second, you're not supposed to swear infront of me....I could tell mom", the last part is added in a joyful singing manner
"Shit- no fuck! wait damn it- ", he quickly slams his hand over his mouth
"I'll just ask mom when she gets back from work", with a small bye, she starts walking away to her room with all her books stacked in her arms.
He makes a deeply offended expression, shouting out a, "What? Why do you need mom?! I can do math!", something that goes unheard by his daughter, leaving him pouting and sulking in the middle of the living room.
Night soon falls as you tiredly make your way to bed and slump under the covers. But as your eyes were just about to drop with sleep, a nudge and hushed whisper stirs you awake from the side.
"Did you help her with her math homework?"
You let out a sleepy hum, "yeah?"
"Was the third answer 6?"
"What?"
"Did x equal to 6?"
You take a moment to think through your sleep hazed mind, "it was 0", instantly a whine rises from your husband causing you to peak an eye open.
"What is it?"
"I can do maths, you know?"
You smile, holding in the urge to giggle at his antics, and rather choose to wrap an arm around his middle to pull him into you, "of course you can"
He really can't.

Really basic study tips. As in, you have no idea where to start, or you've been floundering for X period of time not making progress.
Total beginner?
Go to a search engine site. Whatever one you want Google.com, duckduckgo.com, or a searx.space site will work (I like search.hbubli.cc a lot). I think a non-google search engine will give you less ads and more specific results though so keep that in mind.
As a total beginner, search for some articles and advice to help you start planning HOW you are going to study a language. Search things like "how to learn X" where X is the language, "how i learned X," "guide to learn X." Ignore the product endorsement pages as best you can, you're looking for personal blogs and posts on learner forums like chinese-forums.com and forum.language-learners.org. After reading a few of these, come up with a list of general things you need to learn. This list will generally be: to read, to listen, to write, to speak. The articles/advice you find will likely mention Specific Study Activities people did to learn each of those skills - write them down! You might not do all those study activities yourself. But its good to know what possible study activities will help build each of the 4 skills.
Now get more specific. Think about your long term goals for this language. Be as SPECIFIC as possible. Things like "I want to pass the B2 exam in French" (and knowing what CEFR levels are), or "I want to watch History 3 Trapped in chinese with chinese subtitles" or "I want to read Mo Dao Zu Shi in chinese" or "I want to play Final Fantasy 16 in japanese" or "I want to make friends with spanish speakers and be able to talk about my hobbies in depth, and understand their comments on that subject and be able to ask what they mean if I get confused." Truly be as specific as possible. Ideally make more than one long term goal like this. And then specify EVEN MORE. So you want to "pass the B2 exam in French" - why? What real world application will you use those skills for. A possible answer: to work in a French office job in engineering. Great! Now you know very specifically what to look up for what you Need to actually study: you need to look up business appropriate writing examples, grammar for emails, engineering technical vocabulary, IN addition to everything required on the B2 exam. Your goal is to read mdzs in chinese? Lets get more specific: how many unique words are in mdzs (maybe you want to study ALL of them), how much do you wish to understand? 100% or is just understanding the main idea, or main idea and some details, good enough? Do you want to learn by Doing (reading and looking up things you don't know) or by studying ahead of time first (like studying vocabulary lists). Im getting into the weeds.
My point is: once you have a Very Specific Long Term Goal you can look up how to study to accomplish that very specific goal. If you want to get a B2 certificate there's courses and textbooks and classes and free materials that match 100% the material on the B2 test, so you can prioritize studying those materials. If your goal is to READ novels, you'll likely be looking for "how to read X" advice articles and then studying based on that advice (which is often "learn a few thousand frequent words, study a grammar resource, use graded reader material at your reading level, extensively and intensively read, look up unknown words either constantly or occasionally as desired when reading new material, and continue picking more difficult material with new unknown words"). Whatever your specific goal, you will go to a search engine and look up how people have accomplished THAT specific goal. Those study activities they did will be things you can do that you know worked for someone. If you get lucky, someone might suggest ALL the resources and study activities you need to accomplish your specific goal. Or they will know of a textbook/course/site that provides everything you need so you can just go do it. I'll use a reading goal example because its a specific goal i've had. I'd have the goal "read X book in chinese" so I'd look up "how to read chinese" "how to learn to read chinese novels" "how i read chinese webnovels" and similar search terms. I found suggestions like these on articles I found written by people who managed to learn to read chinese webnovels: Ben Whatley's strategy had been learn 2000 common words on memrise (he made a deck and shared it), read a characters guide (he linked the article he read), use graded readers (he linked Mandarin Companion), use Pleco app and read inside it (he linked Pleco) and in 6 months he was reading novels using Pleco for unknown words. I copied most of what he did, and did some of my own other study activities for theother 3 listening speaking writing skills. And in 6 months I was also reading webnovels in Pleco. Another article was by Readibu app creator, who read webnovels in chinese just looking up TONS of words till they learned (real brute force method). But it worked! They learned. So copying them by using Readibu app ans brute force reading MANY novels would work. Another good article is on HeavenlyPath.notion.site, they have articles on specifically what materials to study to learn to read - their article suggestions are similar to the process I went through in studying and Im confident if you follow their advice you'll be reading chinese in 1 year or less. (I saw one person who was reading webnovels within 3 months of following the Heavenly Path's guide plan). LOOK UP your specific long term goal, and write down specific activities people did to learn how to do that long term goal. Ideally: you will have some
SHORT TERM GOALS: you will not accomplish your long term language goal for 1 year or more. Probably not for many years. So make some short and medium term goals to guide you through studying and keep you on track. These can be any goals you want, that are stepping stones to the specific long term goals you set. So for the "read mdzs in chinese" long term goal, short and medium term goals might be the following: short term: learn 10 common words a week (through SRS like anki or a vocabulary list), study 100 common hanzi this month (using a book reference or SRS or a site), read 1 chapter of a grammar guide a week (a site or textbook or reference book), medium term: read a graded reader with 100 unique words once I have studied 300 words (like Mandarin Companion books or Pleco graded readers for sale), read a 500 unique word graded reader once I have studied 600 words, read 秃秃大王 and look up words I don't know once I have studied 1500 words (read in Pleco or Readibu or using any click-translator tool or translator/dictionary app), read another chinese novel with 1500 unique words, read a 30,000 word chinese 2 hours a day until I finish it, read another 30,000 word novel and see if I can finish it in less time, read a 60,000 word novel, read a 120,000 word novel, read a novel extensively without looking any words up and practice reading skills of relying on context clues (pick a novel with lower unique word count), read a novel a little above your reading level (a 2000 unique word count if say you only know 1700 words), go to a reading difficulty list and pick some novels easier than mdzs to read but harder than novels you've already read (Readibu ranks novels by HSK level, Heavenly Path ranks novel difficulty, if you search online you'll find other reading difficulty lists and sites). Those shorter term goals will give you things to work for this week, this month, this year. An example of study goals and activities might be: study all vocabulary, hanzi, grammar in 1 textbook chapter a week (lets say 20 new words/10-20 new hanzi,1-5 new grammar points - or alternatively you have 3 SRS anki decks for vocab, hanzi, grammar) along with read and look up unknown key words for 30 minutes a day (at first you may read graded readers then move onto novels). Those are short term goals you can ensure you meet weekly, and they also contribute to being able to read better gradually each month until you hit long term goals.
If you are very bad at making your own schedule and study plans: look for a good premade study material and just follow it. A good study material will: teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, all the way to intermediate level. You may need to find multiple premade resources, such as 1 resource for writing/reading (many textbooks that teach 2000+ words and basic grammar will suffice) and 1 for speaking/listening (perhaps a good podcast, glossika, a tutor). Ideally formal classes will teach all 4 skills to intermediate level if you take 4 semesters of classes as an adult (beginner 1, beginner 2, intermediate 1, intermediate 2). Especially if the classes teach in accordance with trying to match you to expected defined language level skills (so formal classes that have syllabus goals that align with HSK, CEFR, or national standards of X level of fluency). So formal classes are an option. The same tips as above apply: make short term goals do do X a week, like study 30 minutes to 2 hours a day, to learn 10 new words a week, to get through X chapters a month, to practice speaking/reading/writing/reading oriented activities to some degree.
My short advice for picking a premade resource if totally lost: pick a starting material that covers 2000 words, basic grammar, and has dialogues if you don't know where to start. That will be enough to cover roughly beginner level language skills. I suggest you study by: studying the vocabulary and grammar of each chapter, listen to the dialogue with and without translation repeatedly until you understand it (listening skills), read the dialogue with and without translation (reading skills), write out example sentences using the new vocabulary and grammar (writing skills, the textbook exercises usually ask you to do this), speak your example sentences out loud (speaking practice), record yourself saying the dialogue and compare it to the dialogue audio - repeat this exercise until you sound similar in pronunciation to dialogue (speaking exercise - shadowing). Most decent textbooks will allow you to come up with similar activities to those listed above, to study some writing reading speaking listening. I like the Teach Yourself books as an example of the most basic version of what you need. Many languages have much better specific textbooks of that language. But if you're totally lost, get a Teach Yourself book and audio free from a library or for 10 dollars (or ANY equivalent book that teaches at least 2000 words and grammar) and go through it. If you buy a language specific textbook: keep working through the series until you've learned 2000 words and covered all basic grammar. For example Genk 1 and 2 cover 1700 words so you would want to work all the way through Genki 2 and ger near 2000 words before branching off to a textbook for intermediate students, or into native speaker materials. (Another example is I found a chinese textbook once that only taught 200 words... as a beginner you would not find that book as useful as one with more vocabulary)
Another adequate premade resource option: if you lile SRS tools like anki, look up premade decks that teach what you need to learn as a beginner. For Japanese you might look up "common words japanese anki deck" (Japanese core deck with 2k or more words is likely an option you'll see), "japanese grammar anki deck" (Tae Kin grammar deck is an option that covers common grammar), "JLPT kanji deck" or "kanji anki deck" or "kanji with mnemonics anki deck" (to study kanji). Ideally you study vocabulary, vocabulary, kanji, and ideally some of these anki decks will have audio and sentence examples for reading practice. Like with a textbook, you would attempt to do exercises which cover reading writing speaking listening. For reading and writing you may read sentences on anki cards, and write or type example sentences in a journal with new words you study and new grammar points. For listening you will play the sentence audio of a card with eyes closed until you hear the words clearly and recognize them, and for speaking you'll speak out the sentences and compare what you say to the audio on the card.
Keep in mind your specific long term goals! If your goal is speak to friend about hobby, you may follow a textbook and still need to ALSO make yourself practice talking weekly (on a language exchange app, with a tutor, with yourself, shadowing dialogues, looking up specific words you wish to discuss). If your goal is to read novels, you will likely need to seek out graded readers OUTSIDE your textbook and practice reading gradually harder material weekly. If your goal is listening to audio dramas, you will want an outside podcast resource likely starting with a Learner Podcast (chinese101, slow chinese, comprehensible chinese youtube channel) then move into graded reader audiobooks, then listen to audio dramas with transcripts, then just listen and look words up.
Once you hit lower intermediate: I'm defining that here as roughly you have studied 2000+ words, are familiar with basic grammar and comfortable looking up more specialized grammar information, and if you used a premade material then you have finished the beginner level material. If you desire to stay on a premade route then pick new resources made for intermediate learners. Do not dwell in the beginner material forever once you've studied it, continue to challenge yourself and learn new things regularly. (No matter what, continue to learn new things regularly, if you do that then every few hundred hours of study you WILL make significant progress toward your goals). Once you have hit intermediate it is also time to start adding activities that work toward your Very Specific Long Term goals now if you didn't already start. If you want to watch shows one day, this is when you start TRYING and get an idea of how much you understand versus how much you need to learn and WHAT you need to learn to do your goal well. If you want to read novels then start graded readers NOW if you havent already and progress to more difficult reading eventually into reading novels for native speakers. If you want to talk to people, start chatting regularly. If you want to take a B2 test, start studying language test specific study materials, practice doing the tasks you must be able to do to pass the test (so you can see what you need to learn and gauge progress over time), take practice tests. Intermediate level is when SOME stuff for native speakers will be at least understandable enough you can follow the main idea. Or at least, if you look up some key words you'll be able to grasp the main idea. Start engaging with stuff in the language now. For several reasons. 1. You need to practice Understanding all the basics you studied. Just because you studied it doesnt mean you can understand it immediately yet, you have to practice being in situations that require you to understand what you studied. 2. You also need to gauge where you are versus where you want to be, in order to set new short term goals. Once you do things in the language, you will see what specifically you need to study more. 3. By doing the activity you wish to do, you will get better at doing it. This is also a good time to mention that: if you wish to get better at speaking or writing now is the time to practice more. Just like listening and reading, you'll have to Do it more to improve.
The leap from using materials for beginners to materials for intermediate learners is harsh. It just is. The first 3 to 6 months you may feel drained, like you didn't learn much after all, annoyed its so much harder than the beginner material catered usually specifically to a learner's language level. Push through. I suggest goals like "listen to french 30 minutes a day" or "read 1 japanese news article a day" or "chat with someone for 1 hour total a week" or "watch 20 minutes of a show a day" or "write 1 page a day" and look up words you dont know but need to understand something or communicate to someone. Do X for X time period or X length of a chapter/episode type goals may be easiest to stick to during this period. Gradually, the time spent doing activities will add up and it will suddenly feel EASIER. Usually around the time you start understanding quicker and recalling quicker what you studied as a beginner. Then it keeps improving, as you gradually learn more and more. At first, picking the easiest content for your study activity will make the transition to intermediate stuff slightly less drastic. Easier content includes: conversations on daily life that only gradually add more specific topics (so you can lean on the beginner daily life function vocabulary), podcasts for learners entirely in target language and podcasts with transcripts, novels with low unique word counts (ideally 2000 unique words or less until your vocabulary gets bigger), shows you've watched before in a language you know (so you can guess more unknown words and follow the plot even when you don't understand the target language words), video game lets plays (ideally with captions) of video games you've played before, playing video games you already have played before and know the story for, reading summaries before starting new shows or books so you know what the general story is, reading books that have translations to a language you know (so you can read the translation then original or vice versa for additional context). Using any tools available (dictionary apps, translation apps like Pleco and Google Translate and click-translate web browser tools, Edge Read Aloud tool, reader apps like Kindle and Readibu, apps like Netflix dual subitles stuff).
Last mention: check in with your goals every so often. You might check in every 3 months, and say you notice you never manage to study daily (if that was your short term goal). That could be a sign it might be better to change your study schedule to study a couple hours on the days your life schedule is less busy, and skip study on busy days. Or it may be a sign the study activity you're trying to do daily is Very Hard for you to stick to, and maybe you should switch to a different study activity. (Example would be: I can't do SRS flashcards consistently, so when I got tired of SRS anki after a few months as a beginner, I switched to reading graded readers daily to learn new vocabulary then reading novels and looking up words. Another example: I love Listening Reading Method but could never do it as it was designed, so after a month of only doing 15 hours of it instead of the 100 hours the method intended at minimum in that time, I decided to modify that study activity into something I could get myself to do daily and enjoy more).
And, of course, its okay if what works for one person doesn't work for you. Everyone's different. As long as you are regularly studying some new things, and practicing understanding things you've studied before, you will make progress as the study hours add up. It may take hundreds of hours to see significant progress, but you Will see some progress every few hundreds of hours of study. I made the quick start suggestions for beginners above, because I have seen some people (including me) get lost at the start with no idea what a good resource looks like and no idea what to study, or how to determine goals and progress on those goals.

One Night (19)
Kagome glances at her phone and then looks around for Ayumi. It was a last-minute invitation. She lifts her hand and waves when she spots Ayumi in the crowd. "You made it!" Kagome slides her phone into her purse.
"Of... course." Ayumi holds up a finger. "Hold on. Can't breathe."
Kagome laughs. "You didn't have to rush here."
"Are you kidding me?" Ayumi sucks in a breath. "You invited me to the Ritz Carlton!" She pauses. "Not to be a buzz kill, but Kagome, I can't actually afford this." She frowns and wipes her hands on her jeans. "Did you want to go somewhere else?"
Kagome shakes her head and links their arms together. "I'm paying. Well, Satoru is footing the bill, but same thing. Kind of."
"Oh," Ayumi says. "Well, in that case. We should get the cheapest option."
"... I got us the Sakura package." Kagome opens the door and lets Ayumi's arm go, so she can walk in. "Don't worry about it." Even though she says to Ayumi, she's really telling herself not to worry about it. Satoru was insistent on her treating herself today. "Hi. Higurashi," Kagome tells the woman at the desk.
"This is really nice," Ayumi murmurs. Kagome slides the black card to the woman and then looks around. The hotel is huge. The floors look freshly polished and there is an overall grandness to the lobby. Perhaps it is the large windows and how the natural sunlight lights up the area?
"Right this way," a woman says, smiling at Kagome. "I will lead you to our spa area, where you can get changed." Kagome takes the card back and follows the woman. "It is a bit early, but we have champagne, if you would like a flute."
"Oh, that's okay, we'll be fine," Kagome answers.
"No worries." The woman points to a room. "You can place your items in one of the lockers. Please wash quickly and then go through the door on the right. The masseuses will be there waiting for you. There are robes for you to change into if nudity is a concern."
Kagome blinks. Wait, so they are to put on a robe but not a towel? Ayumi nudges Kagome to get moving. "Thank you," Kagome says to the woman right before sliding the door close.
"We're gonna be butt ass naked."
Kagome snorts and then laughs. "I've never had a professional massage before. I didn't know." The massage she got from Satoru does not count. "It'll be fine. The Sakura package comes with everything. Full body massage, scalp, facial, and I think foot as well." Kagome strips out of the simple blue V-neck dress. "Besides, I think we are both overdue for one."
"I hear that," Ayumi agrees. "You didn't want to invite Yuka?"
Kagome shakes her head and closes the locker. "No. I wanted to talk to you, and we haven't really hung out with just the two of us." Kagome bites her bottom lip and turns to look at Ayumi. "I wanted to ask before we go out there... did you know about Satoru?"
Ayumi doesn't say anything for a moment and then sighs. "I don't know him, know him. But I know he works for the government." She wrings her hands. "I... uh... can see those things. Curses."
Kagome nods, indicating for Ayumi to continue. So, her intuition was correct. Ayumi knows more than she let on.
"That's my real job. Scouting. I get paid more than I did at the office, but I've seen him at sites from time to time. So that's about the extent of how much I know of him."
"So that's why you weren't upset with me? About Koushi and Shippo?"
Ayumi chuckles. "Kagome, I knew there was something different about you back in middle school. InuYasha's cap came off once. I thought I was crazy, but Eri and Yuka could see InuYasha too. And the curses tend to hide whenever you're near." Ayumi wraps the towel around her and heads towards the showers. "Not that they saw his ears. But just that they could see him and not the other things told me that InuYasha was different." She stops and sighs. "I don't blame you for never bringing it up... I did once."
Kagome presses a hand to her mouth. "Back in sixth grade? Is that why you were gone?"
"Yeah... turns out telling trusted adults you see curses lands you in the hospital." They head into the showers and wash off.
"But how did you get caught up working as a scouter, then?" Kagome asks, raising her voice to carry over the water.
"That's, uh, a longer story." Ayumi shuts the shower off and grabs a towel. "But to keep it short so they don't come in here worried we're dead or something. I got attacked by one. Stared at it too long. A man, a sorcerer with dark hair, saved me and got me set up with the managers. I can't fight them, but I can scout them out and give that information back to the managers. And I learned my lesson about staring at them."
"Wow..." Kagome towels off and then slides the robe on. She walks over to Ayumi and pulls her into a hug. "I wish I had known back then. There was so much I didn't tell you because—"
"I get it. Really." Ayumi pulls back. "What matters now is you're back, and this means I can see you more?"
Kagome smiles. "I'm not going anywhere." They link arms again and head for the door on the right, like the woman said.
Maybe she should make Ayumi a charm or something? Especially if she's going out of her way to feed information back to the school.
"Just curious. How much did this package cost?"
"Around 72,000 yen each."
Ayumi stops and stares at her. "Okay, next movie night is going to be at your place."
"Oh! I forgot. We're getting a house. I'll throw a housewarming party, but I don't want Eri there." One of the first things she did when she got up was to block Eri on everything. Normally, Kagome gives people second chances and maybe even a third, but she does not have the energy to do so with Eri. If Eri was truly sorry, then she would have apologized or said something, but she never did, and some things Kagome just can't forgive. "I think it's for the best I do not speak with Eri again."
Ayumi nods. "She wants your man, and she would double down if she realized how rich he is, too." She scoffs. "I wouldn't tell her shit."
If the masseuses are offended by the crass language, they don't show it. Instead, they instruct Kagome and Ayumi to go to the massage tables. The full body massage with the rose quartz crystals is heavenly. When the massage is over, Kagome is so rejuvenated she sets up another appointment in two weeks.
"Is this about to be our thing?" Ayumi asks, patting her face. "I've never felt so soft."
"I think so," Kagome agrees. She blows out a breath. Maybe she should have consulted with Satoru first before booking a second appointment for her and Ayumi. She'll talk to him during lunch about it. "We'll catch up. I'll need some help with furniture shopping."
Ayumi's eyes light up. "Ugh, you know I love shopping." They hug and then wave goodbye. Kagome gets to the restaurant before Satoru and the boys do, so she opts to wait outside for them. She chose somewhere close to Satoru's missions so they wouldn't have to go far and a place that has private rooms for them to dine in. Kagome shifts her weight to the left. Her breasts feel heavy. It is about time for Koushi to eat.
"Mama!" Shippo yells, drawing some attention. Satoru picks up his strides. "Look what I got!" Shippo holds out a tablet because, of course, Satoru got him one.
"That's great, Shippo," she says, trying to ignore how Satoru is staring at her. She can just feel the heat coming through his blindfold. Best to not make eye contact with him for now. Kagome ducks her head and kisses Koushi's forehead.
"I don't get a kiss?" Satoru whines.
"You look like you want more than a kiss," she says.
His smile is instantaneous. Damn it. Kagome tucks her hair behind her ear just to give her something to do with her hands. She blinks and looks around Satoru. "Oh, is Ijichi joining us?"
"No."
"He likes Shoko though," Shippo says. "And Shoko is meeting us."
Satoru frowns and then turns around. "Oi! Hurry up."
Ijichi points to himself and then bustles over to them. "I... was going to get food over there."
"Shoko is joining us," Shippo chimes.
"I am so honored you invited me to lunch," Ijichi says to Kagome. He doesn't look at Satoru. "Kagome-san, you look amazing. Glowing."
"Aw thanks, I went to a spa."
"We should go in and get our room," Satoru says, grabbing the door for Kagome to walk in. The door slams. Kagome jumps a little and looks back. "He's fine," Satoru says, placing a hand on Kagome's lower back. Shippo snickers.
Kagome presses her lips together. These two are going to be trouble together, she can tell. Satoru gets them a private room and takes a seat closest to the door. Shippo sits at the head of the table, and Kagome sits between Satoru and Shippo. Ijichi sits opposite of them, but across from Satoru. He looks at the door every so often.
Aww, he must be smitten with Shoko.
"She said she's almost here," Satoru says, placing his phone on the table. "I got you something while we were out."
Kagome nurses Koushi with the nursing scarf pulled over them and reaches into the bag. "You didn't have to get me anything."
"Mhmm." Satoru rests his cheek in his palm as he watches her. "You do look beautiful." He slides a hand under the table and touches her thigh. "How are you softer than this morning?"
Ijichi coughs and hits his chest with his fist. "I'm okay," he wheezes out.
"You're like a walking disaster," Shippo chirps.
Kagome pulls the box out of the bag and her eyes widen. "Satoru..."
"You like it? Noticed you didn't have a lot of purses."
"This is a Birkin." While she does not keep up with all the designer fashions, she knows that Birkins can cost as much as a down payment on a house. Kagome holds it up a little longer and then puts it back into the box. She sets it down on the floor between her and Satoru.
"Sorry, I only got one since space is limited right now, but I sign the paperwork on Thursday." He squeezes her thigh. "Which means Shippo and Koushi get their own rooms."
"Can I have a TV in my room?" Shippo asks while drawing something on his tablet.
"Yes."
"No."
Satoru clamps his mouth shut. Kagome unlatches Koushi and fixes her dress. "No, you do not need a TV in your room. You'll just stay up and watch movies."
Shippo pouts, but doesn't argue.
The door slides open and Shoko walks in. Kagome flashes her a smile. "Sorry I'm late," Shoko says, sitting next to Ijichi. "I've been trying to sort out Nanami and the others all morning."
"Cool story," Satoru says. "I'm ready to order."
"Satoru." Kagome squints at him. "Be nice."
The tips of his ears burn pink. "I'm always good."
"I doubt that." Kagome directs her attention to Shoko. "Is it anything I can help with?"
Shoko brightens. "Well, actually, if you don't mind taking a crack at it. I can't get Nanami to change back to his normal self. And Panda is still a zebra. Yuta hasn't moved from that spot."
"Kagome doesn't need to do your job," Satoru grumbles as he pushes the button for the server.
"Ignore him. He's protective," Kagome says. "It's just one thing."
"You're supposed to have the day off and now you're about to do work." He leans over and rests his head on her shoulder. "Oh, you smell nice." He inhales. "I can't stop touching you. You're so soft."
"They're always like this," Shippo says. "Papa is a pervert."
Shoko chokes. "What?"
"Can't you just help them tomorrow?"
"You're serious about me not lifting a finger today?" Kagome wets her lips. "As long as it isn't a life-or-death situation, then I guess I can look at them tomorrow if they still need help." She elbows Satoru right as the server comes in. He makes a big show of being offended, but takes delight in ordering for them. "You know, Shoko, I might be able to help you without having to go on the campus," Kagome says, after the server leaves.
"Oh? How so?" Shoko leans forward. The bags under her eyes are terrible and Kagome feels slightly bad for coming to this lunch fresh off a spa treatment.
"Well, your energy is a little twisted up. Probably because of stress. I could help loosen it, and that might give you the breakthrough you need."
Satoru makes a choked noise in the back of his throat. "I don't think—"
"I would LOVE that," Shoko says, smiling. She makes a face at Satoru and then flutters her eyelashes at Kagome. "Love that. You have no idea," she repeats.
Kagome nods. Ijichi's shoulders slump and he seems more interested in his glass of water. Kagome tilts her head. Ijichi needs some kind of oomph.
"Provided no one reacts like Satoru, I can give you both an energy massage."
"OH Hel—"
Kagome gives Satoru a look.
"Oh, how wonderful," he chokes out with a grimace.
Kagome looks at him and mouths, "Behave." The hand on her thigh tightens before easing up. Satoru swallows and nods.
"How did you do that?" Shoko asks.
Do what? Tell Satoru to behave? Kagome shrugs. She doesn't see what the big deal is. Satoru is just being Satoru, but since Shoko and Ijichi are looking at her, as though she has two heads, she answers with a simple, "Trade secret."
Honestly, she doesn't get what the big deal is. All she said was to behave. It's not like she did the impossible. Satoru can be reasoned with.
***
A/N: Are some of you mind readers? How did you know Kagome was gonna offer an energy massage to Shoko lol.
I've been going back and forth about this death in Wish I Could. I might just put it in one of those random draw pulls (don't judge me).
I think, well I know Naoya is going to do something to tick Satoru and Shippo off, but I'm thinking of them sneaking into the Zenin clan and giving Naoya some nightmares. Just seems like something a fox could do.
Take care. Stay cool. Stay safe. Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of water.

Rapidly tapping on the floor with my heels as anxiety took a hold of my body. "Y/n, are you alright?" I look over to the golden covered dean for the school of good who seemed to notice my strange behaviour. "Yeah of course" I reply with a fake confused expression but to be honest even I wasn't okay, but as a assistant to the dean of evil I wouldn't want to let my weakness to show towards the Ever Queen. "Listen I know that you're an Never and I'm an Ever but that shouldn't interrupt the relationship between us as friends of course" she says placing a hand on my shoulder and I tensed up while giving her a death glare as she slowly took her hand away placing it on her lap. "Do you know where Lesso is?" I say turning my head to her with a clear pissed/worried expression which I'm sure she noticed but chose not to bring it up. "No I haven't seen her all morning" I sigh in disbelief and get up from my seat making an exit back to the school for evil. "Wait Y/n why are you leaving you haven't even taken a bite of your food" "None of your concern goldie-locks" I reply.
After a long walk of painful walking finally arriving at the school for evil. I made my way into Lesso and my office but she wasn't there. 'Where the fuck is she?' I thought to myself. I decided to forget about her absence presence and took a seat at my desk while trying to grade the work of some students. As I marked the papers I heard commotion from outside and got up from my workspace and made a way for door, opening it I spot two of Lesso's wolf guards. "Miss Y/n" they both bow down to me and I can't help but cringe at the site, cause of Lesso every one of her guards are meant to treat me with extreme respect unless they hoped to be turned into wolf fur coats. "Rufus, Trevor where is Lesso?" I ask abruptly. "She's in the doom room, ma'am" "Doom what? Whatever just take me there" I say sternly. "Yes ma'am follow us" I follow till we reach a sceptical dark area that seemed abandoned and I couldn't but feel a sense of home, I mean this is a never's literally dream house or secret bunker. "Alright you may leave, I'll take it from here" they left and I started walking around trying to find Lesso.
After an eternity of you groaning of irritation you hear the sounds of screams, to be specific a young female scream. 'God help me if Lesso's killing someone without me, I'm gonna murder her' I say to my self and start speed walking towards the source of the scream. "NO!" I heard someone most probably a teen girl shout. "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT BAD!" Sophie?
"Which is precisely why you're down here" I heard a woman say most likely Lesso. I tried my best to follow the voices even though my feet where dying due to fact that I have been up and down in heels for god's sake. HEELS.
I spot the room that Lesso and Sophie were in and from the looks of it, Lesso was just about to torture the girl. I slowly but silently make my way towards them. Being unseen by the both of them as Lesso was distracted by a bunch of weapons and Sophie was concentrated on Lesso with a clear frightened expression written all over her body and face. I was finally close enough and Sophie realised my presence. "Mistress Y/n!?" she screams in both relief and confusion. "Ah, isn't it Sophie of Galavadon" I say eyeing her "I always expected you to be a trouble-maker but I didn't expect you to already be punished on just your first day" I say with a fake disappointed expression. "Make sure to keep it up" I say with a cheeky grin sending a thumbs up her way Lesso finally turned around once Sophie screamed my name and hearing my voice "Y/n? What are you doing here"
"Wow, I understand that by all means your the dean of evil but a simple morning or hello wouldn't kill you" "Actually it would" she says while playing with the sharpness of an axe. It only came to me that she wasn't wearing her coat that she usually does 24/7 but instead her suit with her sleeves rolled up and a chain still on her outfit with the lighting of the room reflecting on her hair and face making her look even more sexy than she usually does in a daily basis. "Are you done staring darling? I wouldn't want your eyes falling out" I was pulled out of my trance and made eye contact with the smirking woman who was miles away from me. "Really, wow, the dean turned soft for a second" she huffs at my comment "Oh please, that will never happen"
"So what's the little blonde doing here?" I ask her referring to Sophie who sat still with her hands tied up including her legs to a chair. "Funny how I asked you the same thing" she replies with a sarcastic attitude placing the axe down and walking towards me slowly but with that seductive walk that she usually does. "Well, I wanted to see my girlfriend after so long cause already I woke up to a stinging headache and a lot of never kids lacking common sense and asking ridiculous questions" "Aww, sorry, baby" she says with a little fake pout while wrapping her arms around my waist pulling me closer to her and right then I was intoxicated by the smell of her ravishing perfume that caused wasps in my stomach.
"Yeah you better be sorry, cause I walked my ass all over the entire school in heels, Lesso, fucking heels!" I rage at her "Well let me making it better to you okay?" she says with a seductive tone in her words. "H-how?" she leans down to my face and I close eyes but feel her cheek on mine as she whispers in my ear. "Don't worry I'll help you get all of your nerves out and when I do you'll be roaring my name at the end of time. I felt heat rising towards my cheeks and my eyes shoot wide open. She pulls away and places a small peck on my lips and licks them before completely moving from my body.
I stood in shock not knowing what to say or do. 'Well I'm getting fucked tonight' I mentally slapped my mind from trying to think of all the ways she could please me especially with her hands. Fuck her hands. If her hands were her special skill I would made sure to get on her nerves all the time just to feel those things on me.
"Now if you'll excuse me my love but I have a patient that I have to attend to, and seems as if they have a really serious illness" Lesso says referring to Sophie, and it only came to me that she had heard and seen everything. "And don't worry my love, Sophie won't say anything about our relationship, is that clear, Miss Never Ever?" she nods aggressively "Words" "Y-yes Lady Lesso" "Good, now if you don't mind my love I have some problems to attend to" Lesso says while she picks the axe she had placed down earlier and turns around to face Sophie. I walk away knowing that Lesso was found I was getting a hot, rough and steamy wild sex from by beloved. How nasty of us.

You said that you didn't like watching Scorpy for "reasons"... are you able to elaborate on that? I get it if not.
He just went through a phase of being weirdly aggressive about wanting to make loud noises. Like yelling into the mic so loud it creates static, that kind of stuff. Which I've heard from other RTVS people "that's just how Scorpy is" and that's fine, I guess. Let him live his truth. I'm not here to control anyone.
There's a whole generation of people 10 years younger than me that are like him and think "loud noise = funny" and I've never vibed with that. Never ever.
For one, when people do that stuff, it actually causes me pain. For two, if it stops hurting, then that's permanent hearing damage. My mother had hearing damage that as she got older rapidly went from "mild" to "severe" over the course of about ten years, and being with her for that was incredibly difficult for both of us.
She'd put the TV up to 70% because it was the only way she could hear anything, and one time I asked her to turn it down and she practically burst into tears because she knew it was a burden, she worried about it constantly, and she was even afraid the neighbors were going to start complaining. But there was nothing she could do.
In her own words, "What am I supposed to do? Just sit here in silence until I keel over dead?"
That kind of hearing damage compounds on itself. That's why it got so much worse, so fast. You damage your hearing once and now you're creeping up the volume dial just to hear normally, damaging your hearing more, and more, and more, like a multiplier.
Living with her, I bought construction site grade earplugs and wore them to bed every night. And I could still hear the TV from all the way across the apartment.
For three, I've actually had people who had to buy new phones because some kid blasted them with an extremely loud sound in a "funny" Youtube video and it actually blew out their speaker and ruined the phone.
So you're costing me money, you're costing me my health, and you're costing me my well-being.
Y'all are gonna need hearing aids before you're 50. And, for four: hearing aids are not a good fix for hearing damage. My mom actually tried multiple different types of hearing aids in the hopes they would help and she did not like a single one of them. And she's not the only one; I've read posts from at least one other person (with a listening disability, not just hearing damage) who said they went through years, decades even, of trying many many many different hearing aids, and all it did was make them tired of having to deal with it. Ultimately they decided they would rather embrace deafness than having to try yet another hearing aid, because none of them were a comfortable substitute for what normal hearing is like.
So if Scorpy is going to buy another awful Rock Band microphone, and use it to get weird and indignant and "ON THIS STREAM WE JUST MAKE LOUD SOUNDS!!! THAT'S JUST WHO I AM!!!! DEAL WITH IT OR LEAVE GRANDPA!!!!" then, yeah, I don't have to watch. So I haven't. I've cut back on just about all of my RTVS viewing as a similar result, too.
And I can all but guarantee that I will have better hearing at age 75 than Scorpy will have at age 45
Which is a bummer. I like Scorpy. He's a good entertainer. We're on very similar wavelengths sometimes. And I like RTVS as a whole. But there's always this worry I could be stepping on a landmine where somebody tries to eat their mic and the rest of the chat goes "yes they jingled the keys for me, do it again."
You only get five senses, folks. Don't willingly cripple any one of them, because once they're gone, they aren't coming back. Don't live to regret something you can't reverse.
Sorry to be the bummer, but I gotta look out for my own health.

Forever --- choso X f!reader
Tumblr media
summery: choso has a new partner and she seemed to have interested him in more than one way.
warnings: sexual themes, ooc choso, fast paced storyline
a/n: This is my first time writing smut and I'm dying on the inside
When choso agreed to work for jujutsu tech he didn't think they'd pair him up with someone. As much as choso loves company, that fact applies only to his siblings which is exactly why he agreed to work for the school in the first place. Choso just wanted to make up for the time he lost with his little brother and stay close to him but now he has to go fight some stupid special grade with this strange sorcerer.
"Hello you must be Choso. Pleasure to meet you" he turned around to put a face to the voice and came face to face with you hovering around. "And who are you little insect" his question made you gasp dramatically "I take it back. It's not a pleasure to meet you" Choso's annoyed expression deepens as he awaits your introduction. "Y/N" you extend your hand "we were supposed to go get rid of the special grade curse together" choso accepts your hand shake which makes you smile widely. This expression of yours makes him feel all warm inside and he is confused by what just happened.
As ichiji drives you both to the site, you can't help but eye his features. "pretty" "what" you curse yourself for saying that out loud. "nothing-its nothing" you stammer trying not to throw yourself out of the car window that exact moment.
Choso's face is as red as yours. He swore he felt his heart in his throat. But in that moment, both of you were pretty much in the same boat.
Soon you people reached the site and the both of you got down to business. The veil was down and the curse was out. The problem raised when the curse started to clone itself and you couldn't identify which one is the real one. While choso was taking down as many clones as he can, you were doing the same while trying to figure out where the real one hid. unfortunately for you, the curse took you by surprise making you lose balance and falling to the ground. It took this as an opportunity and started pushing you into the ground. The pain of being crushed was lifted off of you and as you look up, you stare into Choso's worried face. "I'm fine" you say meekly and fall limp into his arms.
When you wake up again you find yourself in a strange room. As you look around, you notice that you are in a hotel room an the shower was running. Upon recalling the events of the fight, you came to a conclusion that the person inside shower might be Choso and that made your heart skip a beat. While you were lost in thought, Choso came out of the shower with just some pants on. "oh you're up little insect" his comment brought you back to reality "what happened" "you exerted yourself and we are stranded in this hotel until Ichiji picks us up in the morning" his answer seemed to relax you in a way "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" he looked a little shocked at your statement "you do not have to worry dear insect" his smooth voice sent a rush of heat through your body "I-I'm not an insect" your response earned a deep chuckle out of him "stop it". Your blush is increasing by the minute and he seemed to have noticed it.
"You mind removing that shirt off of you my dear" the questio caught you so off guard "WHAT" "the shirt" he motions to you "its mine and I want it back" the request made sense except that was the only clothing article on your body "where are my clothes" "they were bloody and battered so i took the liberty of throwing them away" "WHATT" You looked like your eyes would pop out of their socket. Your thoughts were running wild he saw me naked. If you thought you were red before, now you were maroon. "Do you mind that" "Of course I do I mean I did want you to see me like that but the circumstances was weir-" "Oh so you did want me". He sits at the edge of the bed and motions you to come and you obey. His mellow voice eases your anxiety "My dear little insect you got me feeling all warm inside and I don't think i can control myself" "then don't" you say as you climb onto his lap.
His hands caress your thighs as he looks at you with admiration "I'm 150 years old dear and I've never seen such carefully crafted face". This pushed you to kiss him and he retorted by picking you up and throwing you onto the bed and proceeded to kiss you like you'll fade away if he didn't. "My sweet porcelain doll" He kisses your inner thighs and keeps getting closer and closer to your heat. "I'll be gentle, I promise" he's driving you crazy. He kissed your clothed pussy and removed your panties "every inch of you is gorgeous" he said as he dived into it causing you to arch your back and moan wantonly.
The combination of kissing and licking is sending you over the edge "s-so so c-close" at this, he attached his whole mouth onto it and sucked on it making you come all over his face. He swiped his finger over his lips and licked them "perfect". The haze of the orgasm left you thoughtless. "Remember how I said I'll be gentle" he said as he removed his pants and aligning himself with you "I lied" he whispered in your ear seductively and rammed into you. The pace was tear inducing. He was cursing loudly watching you come on his cock. After a few more thrusts, he pulled out and came on your stomach.
He cleaned you both up and tucked you in the bed with him. His hands roamed around as he pulled you even closer if that was even possible. "Stay like this forever" you look at him and give him a small peck before nodding "I'd be glad to".
a/n: I wanna continue on this by writing Yuuji's reaction to his big bro getting a girlfriend.

The Reluctant Professor: Part 2
Annie finally gets a chance to talk to Professor Hunt about that night. But not in the way you remember.
I hardly even remember getting back into the Uber. From holding back tears for so long and trying to stay calm as I fought my way back through the masked crowd, or maybe it's the 2 extra champagnes I decided to down on the way out. My dorm room door is a welcome site as I fumble for my key out of my clutch.
What isn't really a welcome sight right now is Addison and Ethan eagerly awaiting for me on my bed.
"Okay, I know you must be tired and possibly tipsy from your big night at the ball, but we've seen pictures and videos of 'The Peacock Waltz' trending everywhere. The woman happens to look just like how you're dressed up now..." Ethan shoves his phone at me. Sure enough, clips of my waltz with Hunt from just a while ago are in fact trending. "Deetz, sister. Who is that man and why is he not with you?" Addison snaps a finger at me teasingly.
I stammer, looking for words at their sudden barrage of questions. Their mischievous grins shift to concern, though. "Annie? You okay?"
"Huh?" I blink, then wipe at my eye. My hand comes back wet. "O-oh, um... The night went great! The dance was... m-magical. But..." And then I can't keep my composure anymore as the shock of the night wears off.
I'm sobbing into my hand as Addison jumps up and wraps her arms around me, guiding me back to the bed. "Hey, hey, what happened? Are you okay??" She soothes my back, then twists me around so she can start taking my hair down. Ethan brings tissues and takes my heels off for me. "Take you time, you can talk when you're ready."
After a moment, I'm blowing my nose and laughing at myself, my now-loose curls bouncing around my face. I take a deep breath and nestle between my best friends. "Um.. in all honesty, the night was actually... wonderful. I met the man you saw in the video, the one I danced with. We hit it off. He came off as a snob at first, but once I was able to start cracking that icy wall... he was a gentleman. Sweet, fun to converse with, an amazing dancer... ticked all of my boxes."
"Then what happened? Was he someone's husband?" Addison's icy glare could kill a man. I laugh. "No, no, as far as I know he's single. After we danced, we went outside, and he took off his mask."
"Ugly? A relative? Liam Hemsworth?" Ethan prods. Addison and I both snort. "God, no. But even more out of reach." I take a deep breath as they both wait for the reveal.
"... It was Professor Thomas Hunt."
They both go "Ohh shit." simultaneously.
I laugh at the ridiculousness of all of it. "We didn't know! You guys know my Uncle Moh, right?" "The hard-ass cop that wants you to remain 'anonymous' at events he gets you into because he's worried he's going to put you in danger or get himself in trouble even though he literally gets those tickets for free?" Ethan asks. "The same one. I kept my promise, didn't give my name, and we were all in masks, of course." "But he gave you his name, right? He's not under the same rule." "Yeah, but he introduced himself as Thomas. I don't know him as Thomas! I know him as Professor, or Hunt, or Professor Hunt!" Ethan pats my head. "Oh, you sweet, beautiful blonde." "Hey!" Says Addison.
I stand up and begin pacing, hugging my waist. "It's just... for one night, I meet a guy that just... I don't know, understood me? Or at least wanted to. Without knowing who he really was, I was already crushing hard. Being around him was just... easy. So when he took my mask off and I saw that disgust on his face and he stormed off..." I furiously wipe at unwelcome tears.
Ethan and Addison exchange a look. I sniffle. "..what?" "...Addison and I have kind of... discussed it before. Not you! But Hunt. And how he might not be as 'disgusted' by you as you think." I scoff. "We're talking about the same Hunt, right? The professor that singles me out every lecture? That grades me more strictly than everyone else? Even scrutinizes my appearance at times if I'm having a bad hair day??"
Addison has the gall to smirk. "Oh, please. The constant criticizing? The stern glares? Why he singles you out? We're a thousand percent sure he's had a thing for you since before tonight." I laugh. "Right, is this like that whole rule we had as kids? 'If boys are mean to you, it means they like you!'" "Yeah, pretty much. Playground-view of it. But bottom line is, there's always been some attraction between you two. He's just bad at hiding it." Ethan explains. I can't help but roll my eyes. "Guys, I don't know why he hates me, but I honestly doubt it's that. Tonight only happened because he didn't know it was me. But..." I chew on my thumb. "I have to admit. It was... nice, getting to see the side of him that doesn't hate me. Until the end, at least." My cheeks turn a rosy pink. Addison giggles and claps her hands in delight. "You have a crush on Hunt! Gasp, a professor! The scandal!" I grab a throw pillow from my armchair and throw it at her.
Ethan throws his hands up and stands. "Alright, pillow fights are where I'm out. Cinderella, glad you're home safe from the ball." He hugs me and turns to leave as Addison boos him and throws the pillow at his butt.
Once he leaves, I un-fancify myself and collapse on my bed in my cozy pajamas. Addison plops next to me. "Sooo.... anymore steamy details?" I glare in response. She doesn't budge. I sigh and resign to tell her everything. From our conversation at the bar, to the magical dance, to the goosebumps he gave me at the table, then to everything on the balcony. Even our almost-kiss, which has me burying my face in my pillow.
Once Ads is satisfied, she gives me one final hug and turns in for the night on her side of the room. I'm exhausted from the night, but my mind keeps replaying everything in my head like a movie. And one scene sticks out to me. The very last one.
"Don't be..."
I didn't see his face. I couldn't look at him. But something in his posture and how gently he said it... Did he not regret tonight? Was he telling me not to? Or was he telling me to forget? While I hang myself on his words, there's one thing I can't deny. I really, really wish I could, but my stupid heart wants what it wants.
I have a stupid crush on my professor.
******
It's about a week later. Thursday classes are wrapping up for the day. Professor Hunt has been oddly resigned with me this week. Still glaring, but he's not singling me out as much, and even seems to be avoiding me. I'm trying to be cordial, but I'm met with side glances or sneers. So much for being a gentleman.
As usual, once class is over, he's stuffing his briefcase and trying to bolt. Addison nudges me and glances at him. I shake my head. "It's probably best to just let this go." "Okay, look. What happened, happened. There's been so much tension in this classroom this week that you could probably cut it with a knife. Hunt's been on edge, and not in his usual way. He's like a bomb about to go off. You have to talk to him." "And what is that going to do? It'll just make him angrier! I am the last person he needs or wants to talk to." She sighs angrily. "Because he wouldn't be so affected by this if he didn't have feelings for you! For your sake, his sake, and your classmates, talk. It. Out. Please." She shakes my shoulders on the last few words. I chew on my lip for a second in thought. "...okay. Okay, fine! If only to get you and Ethan to realize that this is dumb! He hates me!" I shrug and sling my bag over my shoulder. "Yes! Give me the deetz as soon as you're done! 'Kay love you bye!" She boops my nose and then darts out of the room. I roll my eyes and grip my bag strap as I walk into the hallway. Hunt's office is right around the corner, and I ram straight into him as we both round it. Hunt is knocked back into the corner and I lose my balance and land on my bottom.
"I am so sorry! I was lost in thought and I wasn't looking where I was going-" "It's fine. Just be more careful." Hunt rubs his shoulder from where it collided with the wall and walks right past me on the floor. "W-wait, sir, I-" "THOMAS!"
We both freeze. Professor Misha Llewellyn's heel clicks fill the halls as she rushes over and helps me to my feet, brushing off my back and bottom. "That was incredibly rude, sir! She could've been hurt yet she was apologizing to you!" Hunt looks downright sheepish. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but I really must be-" "Absolutely not!" She swings me in front of her so I'm standing between both of them. "To her." Hunt glances between us and sighs. "I'm sorry, Miss Anneka. Are you alright?" Both of us are uncomfortable. She's got Hunt in a death stare and a death grip on my shoulders. Sweetest professor, but she is formidable. No one messes with Llewellyn. "Y-yeah, I'm okay." I nod. "Excellent! That wasn't so bad was it?" Llewellyn claps her hands. Hunt looks like he might puke. "Well, since I've got you both here, I have a little favor to ask, if you'd be so kind?" Hunt turns to go. "Well, I actually must be going-" "Oh, this won't take long at all! Come along!" She gestures for us to follow. I shrug at Hunt and go after her. I hear one of his signature sighs as he tags along.
The room she takes us to is an equipment storage room on the other side of the building. Old cameras, lights, clapboards, tripod stands, all kinds of film stuff. She gestures to the far wall where boxes overflowing with goodies line the shelves. "Now, there is an old camcorder in one of these boxes. For nostalgia's sake and for a project for my students coming up, I need your help finding it. Don't worry about putting everything back where you find it, there's no specific system in here. And just drop it off in my office when you find it!" "And why do you need my help? You do realize that I am also a busy professor myself?" Hunt asks. "Hmm? Oh yes. But I also know you don't have class on Fridays. Thanks for your help!" Llewellyn gives a little wave and then leaves us to our own devices.
Hunt sighs deeply. "I loathe that woman sometimes. Let's get this over with." He weaves his way through the equipment and begins digging through the boxes. I follow suit. "I don't know, she's definitely pushy, but she usually means well?" I chance. To my not-surprise, he's giving me the silent treatment. "I like her. She grades fairly and doesn't play favorites." My response is shuffling of boxes and clattering of items being tossed.
It only takes a few moments of awkward silence before I've had enough and slam the box back onto the shelf. "Okay, look, we need to talk." "No, we don't." He says nonchalantly and moves to another box. "Yes, we do. I get that you don't like me, you never have. And I'm not sure why you don't, but whatever. Shouldn't I at least get treated like a human being?" "Would you rather me treat you like an alien? Pretend like you're from outer space and just learning about Earth?" He deadpans. From anyone else, that sarcasm might have been funny. "I'd almost prefer it to being treated like I'm the most annoying thing in existence." "And you're not?" I blink. He glances at me in my moment of silence, and for a moment it looks like he regretted saying that. He shakes his head and goes back to his box with a sigh. "What do you want to talk about?" "That night-" "No." "Look, it happened. We did have a good time, but it-" "Anneka. Nothing. Happened. I told you that nothing changes." He glares daggers at me. "But things did change, Hunt. You changed them! Everyone has noticed. There is a palpable tension in that classroom and I didn't put it there. I'm actually trying to move on from that night, but you're the one who is actively making it awkward!" I pause to let it sink in. "It doesn't have to be. You can go back to hating me like normal, for whatever I did to you. Whatever, this, is-" "I've never hated you."
"You.. what?" "I'm not repeating myself. I don't hate you, I'm hard on you. As any good professor should be." "Then why do you single me out?" "I don't. Whatever fantasy you've created where my focus is on you doesn't exist. But you disrupt my class, fail an assignment, make a foolish decision like trying to pry out feelings that aren't there-"
"I never mentioned feelings...?" He freezes and keeps his gaze on the box. "Hunt, this isn't about a school girl crush or anything. I'm not trying to make this romantic because I know you don't feel that way. Far from it." I grimace. "I just didn't want things to be awkward between us. More than they already are. We can have civilized conversations, be around each other without itching to get away... You know, be cordial?" He doesn't move. It's a long pause before he talks again. "Fine. We can be 'cordial'." I nod and sigh in relief, then go back to helping dig through old dusty stuff.
A couple of boxes later, and I come across one full of sleeping bags and newspaper pillows. "Huh, bet these come in handy for long shoots!" Hunt looks over at the sleeping bag I've pulled out. He chuckles. "Brings me back to when I first started out. I pulled a lot of all-nighters. Sometimes I'd get so tired, I'd just fall asleep on set."
"Really? It's hard to picture The Thomas Hunt hunkered down in a sleeping bag in the middle of a movie set." He takes the bag from me and rolls it back up. "There were some tough times back then. But it was worth it. Anything's worth it when you're doing what you love." He gently brushes his hand across an old film reel beside one of the boxes. "Agreed. Every dream is worth fighting for." I smile and look at the film reel he just touched.
But when I glance back at him, it's not the film reel he's looking at. Hunt's eyes are on me. And unless I'm seeing things, he looks almost sad.
The moment quickly passes as he shakes his head and stuffs the sleeping bag back into its box. We go back to hunting for the camcorder in silence, albeit much less awkward.
About 10 minutes go by when we hear the storage room door open and Professor Llewellyn pop in. "Hello? I'm not interrupting anything am I?" I let one last sneeze out. "-Onbly by sneezhing fit." I sniffle. "Phew. Little dusty in here. We're still looking for the camcorder!" Llewellyn looks almost disappointed? "Ah, don't you worry about that anymore! I found it in the bottom of my desk a little while ago!" Hunt slowly rises from the boxes he was crouched over. "And you didn't bother to text or call me about this?" "Ah, no, sorry! I got sidetracked." Something tells me by the huge grin she's wearing, she definitely didn't get sidetracked. What is she doing?
Hunt grunts and kicks the box back to the bottom shelf. "Well, thank you very much for wasting my afternoon." "You're ever so welcome! Now let's get out of this musty old room, shall we?" Hunt looks as if he might be about to hide a body, but we follow her out into the hallway. "I'm sorry for the wild goose chase, but I do appreciate the help! Have a good night you two~" And Llewellyn's heels announce her swift exit.
Hunt and I dust ourselves off. "Well... it was cool to see a little glimpse into college-days Thomas Hunt." I smile at him. Hunt doesn't return it and sighs. "Honestly, I don't know what she was trying to accomplish, other than wasting my time and almost getting you sick... but if you wanted to hear more about my college days, all you had to do was ask." "Wait, I could do that before?" He blanches. "I-I meant as a student you could learn from the previous experiences of your elders. Don't read into things." I laugh. "Okay, fair enough. And if you ever want to go diving through a storage room with your favorite student again-" "No." I snap my fingers. "Ah, darn. Worth a shot."
Hunt turns away as if to stifle a cough, but I swear it sounded like laughing. "It's getting late." "That it is. I'm going to go make sure I don't have spiders in my hair. Have a good night, professor." I turn to go.
Hunt does the same. "Have a good night, Annie."
Annie.
He called me Annie and not my full name. He never does that.
Huh. Progress.
(Disclaimer: The original story, places, names, some dialogue, and all characters except for Annie and Llewellyn belong to Pixelberry from their game Hollywood U: Rising Stars. Thank you for reading!)

Hi!! I'm so sorry to bother you <3 But I have nobody to ask who can give me some real advice... so: In the U.S., would you say a degree majoring in English is useful? Or will I just end up jobless in a box :/
Thx for your time/attention!!!
Cheers
Barring a serious health issue, you will get a job. My English degree jobs have included:
theatrical wardrobe mistress
retail
office temp worker
web site developer (I learned Perl for this. Why, God?)
teacher
photographer
Not, to be sure, a stellar looking career. Because it never was. I was a bit of a failure professionally.
Well, more than a bit, I guess.
Is it a useful degree? Probably not. All the technical things about grammar I know I learned in 7th or 8th grade (thank you, Mrs. Bishop) or from @medievalfantasist (who got comma usage into my head.) My creative writing classes were so bad it's appalling they had the gall to charge $25 for them, much less charge private college costs. Anything I know in that arena has been self-taught.
Should you do it? The general value of liberal arts fields has never been that they are job training. They are meant to teach you to think or (if you're in an elite college) give you something to do while you network with the sorts of people who go to elite colleges. An English degree can be a good springboard for a lot of things, of course, but you should probably do a better job than I did about having a clear goal and stacking up internships and job experiences to get you there.
Good luck!

So here's something mildly terrifying. Anyone feeling nostalgic for the color of the sky? Tumblr polls have the goddamn color of the sky potential. There is a symbol limit on answers, but seemingly no symbol limit on the actual questions.
What's more, doesn't matter how long it is, it does NOT count as a long post, on mobile or on web, so it will display fully on your dash. Absolutely wonderful. You can really feel the 2013 vibes.
So here's a poll with the entire Bee Movie script in the question. Enjoy. I'm putting it under a readmore line because I'm not a goddamn animal. But believe me that I've tested on a sideblog without readmore, and it absolutely displays as an unshortened scrolling disaster on your dash.
@staff my dudes. What the hell. Don't you know your site is full of trolls and gremlins?
@staffs-secret-blog you guys are totally secretly running the hellsite so I'm tagging you as well.

Hello fellow enraged Tumblfolk!
This is a sideblog where I verbally defecate on the most laughably awful, offensive, bizarrely targeted, vague, clickbaity, low effort, hideous, and otherwise shitty ads on Tumblr.
As the transphobic and ableist pissbaby coward CEO drives Tumblr into the ground, the advertisers that are being platformed here are getting weirder, more unhinged, and more comically misplaced. I hate it, but I feel compelled to mock it.
The "inspiration" for this blog was an ad for a WordPress blog written by an incredibly ableist quack claiming to "heal spiritual autism." That's part of a trend of ads which are some combination of anti-science, right-wing, evangelical christian, or the worst kind of appropriative new-age quasi-religious fuckery. In other words, Tumblr is actively promoting misinformation, dangerous pseudo-science, ableism, hatred, and cult-adjacent bullshit. Because of course it is.
*heavy sigh*
There are vulnerable people on this site and many of these ads are run by predatory people and organizations who are looking to fleece, defraud and indoctrinate. Those ads are the worst of the worst, and I want to dunk on them like an enraged English teacher - bleeding red pen all over a half-assed attempt at cleverness.
There are also a lot of people without a lot of resources and yet tons of ads promoting *ridiculously* expensive and useless products and services that I seriously doubt anyone on this site would ever buy, especially not when shiilled through the poorly designed and written ads on here that just seem so laughably out of place. They're still predatory and some seem downright fraudulent, but they are at least more amusing.
There are ads that are hilariously terrible in that they don't even make it clear what they are trying to sell. These are just plain hilarious because why bother paying to run an ad and not even get someone to write decent copy? Is it just farming confused clicks from people asking themselves "what the hell is the point of this?"
And finally, and most rare, there are ads that are okay, or even (shockingly) good. They advertise things people might need, or even things that are socially positive and that fit Tumblr's demographic. They are like Unicorns though. I won't be posting those for now because Matt and his sycophants will probably take any praise as proof that they're not horrible bigots doing a massive disservice to the userbase. Fuck that - I'm going no quarter.
Grades will be on the A, B, C, D, F scale, with + and - as appropriate, and with edits, critiques and commentary. One caveat: You're not going to see any A's or B's until things change here. This is a no positivity zone. The highest praise here is "C+ - It's fine, I guess"
Grading is entirely subjective and fully informed by my very conscious biases. These biases include but are not limited to:
- I hate advertising and marketing on general principle and see it as inherently manipulative and cynical. It's also full of bigotry and is a field populated by some of the most cruel and exploitative people on the planet.
- Every fucking platform being ad-filled garbage is one of the main reasons that all techbros should be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.
- I also hate buzzwords, trends, and am appalled by the enshittification of the Internet.
- Stupid rich assholes should all take short trips to the bottom of the Atlantic in imploded submarines.
- AI content generation is ruining two generations of a free and open web crafted by humans and is a self-defeating bubble waiting to explode.
- All authority is harmful. The worst abusers in the world insist on being called "Doctor", "Father", "Pastor", "Officer" and especially "CEO". Telegraphing your power is a warning of the harm you can inflict.
Extra points off for ads for WordPress blogs because fuck Automattic. Extra points off for shilling religious bullshit.

Happy 500 to youuuu!!! You deserve each and every one of them and more! Can’t wait for 1k, 2k, 5k…. 10k…. HEHEEEE IT WILL HAPPEN I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT!! You write the BEST fics, nsfw alphabets, headcanons and drabbles on this whole site and I love reading (and re-reading) every piece you put out! Cheers! :D <3<3
Can I request Hurricane (Johnnie's Theme) for Klitzy?? Maybe it’s extra angsty because of his self-esteem issues making him think he’s not worthy of you </3
Author's Note | thank you dearly, anon! I am overwhelmed at your kind words and I do hope that my work continues to impress!! thank you for the request (I hope you're okay with me making it equal parts angsty and a little bit...freaky).
Warnings | mentions of masturbation, nothing else I can think of!
Tumblr media
Timothy Klitz spends an ungodly amount of time getting ready in the morning. Analyzing every part of himself in his bathroom mirror, he specifically avoids the sight of his bare chest. That pale, lanky expanse that really makes him cringe.
Today he's finally going to talk to you. And, for once, he's not going to overthink it.
It’s ridiculous being this worked up over a single, measly little person. But somehow, he managed to do it. That’s why his bathroom routine has extended from a leisurely ten minutes to a grueling hour. That’s why he made his mom splurge on soap this time around, opting for a musky cedar wood scent that he figured would drive you wild. He doesn’t actually know what you would like.
So of course he has to resign to Eli’s advice on girls.
Eli tells him that he’s got the face of a God; “You could do porn with that face, if you wanted.” Eli had once reasoned with him.
That sounds like the joke of the century. He's nothing special. And a girl hasn't complimented him on his looks since he was in the second grade. And even then, that was from his mom when she dressed him up for his elementary school's Christmas choir performance. He can still hear her coo, "Oh, you look so handsome, Timothy!"He hopes that if you ever call him that, it's in a more mature tone. Not like he's a baby.
But if he can't just suck it up and actually talk to you, he's never going to hear that.
All he knows is that he has to stop living his life through the Sims. That is another matter entirely.
Yes, he may have possibly made you into a Sim. And yes, he possibly also made himself a Sim. And sure, he pulled the strings to make the pixel people fall in love with each other and eventually move in together.
At least he doesn’t…he doesn’t…oh, fuck it. He can’t even pretend that he doesn’t like to watch them woohoo with each other.
He wants to feel ashamed of himself when he jerks off as if he was watching actual porn. But he isn’t. Weirdly, it feels like he’s cum harder just from fantasizing about what might go on underneath that silly sheet than from actual porn. Something about those happy little Simlish babbles he hears as little you and little him mess around under the covers in the digital realm gets him going.
If you were his, he’d make you make those sounds all the time. Now that’s something Eli would truly laugh at him about. Klitz might not be ugly. But he sure as hell is pathetic, gross, and a coward.
He’s an absolute wreck as he walks past you in school, hands shoved in his pockets, shirt untucked (because only nerds tuck in their shirts, reasoned Eli), and hair combed perfectly.
And you looked at him first. Almost by accident really. But the second you caught his nervous little glance your way from behind those oval lenses, you couldn’t get over him. He was just...pretty. Almost bug eyed and innocent even though they only lingered for a few seconds.
You'd seen him around a little bit; vaguely remembering that he hung out with the teacher's pet and that one weird kid who's obsessed with porn. But he stands out from them, not only in height but in his quiet demeanor and little, side sweeping glances. Yeah, you decide, he's very pretty.
“Looking good today, Klitzy!” You call as he passes by.
And Klitz has to clench his hands in his pockets and stifle a barbaric yawp when he replies, “Oh, thanks. You too!”
But that doesn’t stop the smile that oozes onto his expression, growing so wide that he swears he feels his entire face caving in from how much his cheeks ache.
He’s never said a word to you before now. And yet you knew his name.

studying tips
(from somebody with adhd)
HIGHLIGHT!! i know that sometimes highlighting can't be done (i.e. image files or textbooks that you've rented), if this is the case, i suggest writing a note of the thing instead. then, write why it's important, why you need to remember it. i've found that this helps me with memorising things easier.
don't write down complete sentences if you're reading through. it takes too long and means you'll be getting less done in your study sessions. i've found that making sure i know ALL of the context at only 50% is much more effective than knowing 1/7 of the content at 100%. of course, you can go into further depths once you know the basics, but it's better to do step one of all the tasks than completing just one task.
reward yourself for studying! sometimes it can tiring to study, which i understand. i keep a bag of snacks with me, and for each couple of pages, i have a handful. this one relies on your self control and it can be difficult at first, but i promise it works after a while.
flashcards! this doesn't work for everybody, but if it does, quizlet is a good site to use. they have user made flashcards, all you need to do is type in your curriculum/board and topic, e.g. "physics, grade 10, *board*". double check the packs you're using, though i've found most to be very reliable. however, you are able to make your own too!
small tests on yourself! doesn't have to be serious, but pick out a handful of questions, answer, then check! it's a good way to see which topics you're more confident at, therefore allowing you to spend more time on your struggles!
most people would suggest against this, but - passive learning. this works best if you're too tired to continue studying, and something is better than nothing. i use youtube videos a lot (same wording as the quizlet example (: ), and sometimes hearing somebody physically say it to me helps it stick easier. youtube often uses images and demonstrations too!
i already mentioned this but please do not copy word for word from the textbooks. i know it can seem most effective because it's in terms that you understand, but it usually leads to forgetfulness over the longer sentences. instead, read it once, write it down quickly without looking, read again, then update your definition. keep testing yourself on the shortest possible definitions that have all the information. fancy filler words are unnecessary.
make sure that you aren't dreading every moment of studying. it can be boring sometimes, yes, but god, romanticise it! i've found that making some coffee, listening to orchestras and settling down have made me much more excited to study and learn because i feel fancy. whatever works to make you in the mood is great!
