Cat
~ If you guys have any requests you should send me some. Now that I actually have motivation to write I have no ideas đ
~ Fluff, WC: 1,070
~ Reader finds a "cat" ~
Matt is only two blocks from your shared apartment when he notices something is different. Something he canât quite figure out. Thereâs a second heartbeat alongside yours, but it is smaller than a human's. A lot smaller.Â
He is one block away when he notices that a window is open. Why would you have the window open? Itâs December, and you seem to run cold at all times. Thatâs when he hears little paws running across the hardwood floors. Now, it makes sense. You guys have been talking about getting a cat for a while now. But the animal doesn't smell like a typical cat.Â
It all comes together when he finally goes down the stairs to enter the apartment. It is not a cat. It's a raccoon. You let a wild animal into the apartment. And youâre currently trying to feed it marshmallows.Â
âHey, baby.â You greet him happily when you see him standing in the corner. You give him a beaming smile, one he does not return. You knew it was a bad idea, but what else would you do when thereâs a raccoon on the windowsill? Not let it in and feed it marshmallows?
Matt pulls his helmet off and walks over to the coffee table, where the raccoon perches. âWhat is that?â That is all he asks. You both know he knows, but he asks more for an explanation.Â
âIt's a cat..â Your voice is quiet and full of held-back laughter.Â
âThat's not a cat.â
âHow do you know? You can't see it.âÂ
âI can smell it.â
âMaybe itâs friends with a raccoon,â You stop and collect your breath before continuing, trying hard not to laugh. âAnd the smell rubbed off on it.â
âOh yeah? Then why are you feeding it marshmallows? Cats canât eat those.âÂ
âUhh, 'cause this is a special cat. It can eat marshmallows.â
âAnd by special cat, you mean raccoon?âÂ
âPretty much yeah.â Matt stares at you, nodding softly at your words, before grabbing the bag of marshmallows out of your hand.
âWe are not keeping it.âÂ
âBut you said we could get a cat!â You yell out in despair, standing from your place on the couch.
âThatâs not a cat!â He motions towards the raccoon that has started standing on the coffee table on two legs.
âItâs practically a cat!â
âIt's on two legs!â
âBut it's adorable!â
âHoney, itâs a wild animal.â You watch Matt run a hand through his hair in frustration. âWe canât keep a raccoon as a pet.â
âWhy not?â
âIt's illegal.â
âWell, good thing I know a lawyer.â
âSweetheart,â He steps forward to put a hand on your face, âI love you, but we canât keep the raccoon.â
âFine.â You mutter in defeat. âCan I at least leave marshmallows out for it?â
âYeah, you can do that.â Despite having to release your new friend, a big grin breaks out across your face to mirror his.Â
âGood, I don't want him to be lonely.â You tell him and lean onto his chest.Â
âHoney, it's a raccoon, he won't get lonely.â He laughs at your concern for the raccoon. You carefully place marshmallows in a path from the coffee table to the open window.
âHow do you know? You've never been a raccoon.â Matt sits on the couch and pulls you into his lap.Â
âBaby, they're animals that eat trash. I don't think they have very high thinking skills.âÂ
âYeah, you're probably right. Anyway, why are you back so early?âÂ
âBecause my crazy girlfriend let a wild animal into our apartment.â You chuckle at his words.
âDoes that mean you're going back out?â
âNo, I think I'll stay in. Someone's gotta make sure you don't open that window again.âÂ
âHm, in that case, maybe you should change into your comfy clothes, and we can watch a movie?â Even though Matt can't watch the movie with you, he always insists on sitting with you and listening.Â
âThat sounds like a good plan. I'll go change.â He kisses you on your forehead and gets off the couch, pushing you off his lap and off to the side.
While Matt is in the bedroom, you watch the raccoon still making its way down the marshmallow trail. You only had the small ones you use in hot chocolate, so it's taking longer.
Matt enters the living room again as the raccoon leaves through the open window. On his way to the couch, he shuts the open window. You jokingly pout at the loss of your new friend.Â
âI bet it'll be back soon, sweetheart. No animal is going to forget the window that gives them marshmallows.â He chuckles as he sits by your side.Â
âYeah, I know, but what if it forgets?â He laughs at you again.Â
âHoney, you're thinking too hard about this. What if we go to the shelter and look for a cat tomorrow.âÂ
âNo. We can't do that.âÂ
âWhy not?â Confusion covers his face with laughter in his voice.
âBecause if we go down to the shelter, there's gonna be tons of animals begging to go home with us, and then we'll have to choose between all of them, and then when we do, all the other animals will be sad, and wonder why we don't want them.â You explain, speaking a little faster than usual.Â
Matt lets out a hard sigh, âI don't even know how to respond to that.â
âUh, you're supposed to agree with me 'cause I'm always right.â
âOh yes, of course.â He gives you a big smile, almost taking your breath away. No matter how much you see it, his smile will always be the most beautiful thing in the world. âWhat?â
âWhat?â
âI can feel you staring.âÂ
âI have no idea what you mean.â
âMhm.â He pulls you closer, leaving you unable to look at his face. âHow do you expect to get a cat if we can't go to the shelter?â
âWe had one a few minutes ago, but you didn't like that one.â
âThat wasn't a cat!â He exclaims.
âIt was close enough.â You cross your arms over your chest. Matt doesn't like that as he pulls your arms away from your chest to hold your hand.Â
You sigh happily into his chest as you lean against him, your legs over his lap with his arms around you. You both forget about the movie, too focused on each other to care.

Bullies || n.s
pairing: bff!nick x fem!reader
summary: Nick is there for y/n through thick and thin. When he finds out sheâs getting bullied at school, he does his best to help her.
warnings: mentions of bullying, name calling, crying, use of y/n, swearing, blood/injuries, random name for bully
a/n: âď¸purely platonicâď¸, y/n is in her last year of highschool, nick is still 20 (2 years between them), I wrote this at work so itâs not entirely proofread, also sorry to all the Mayas đ
pink=y/n
purple=nick
orange=chris (heâs only in the beginning sorryđ)
ŕźťââ˝ŕźş
âOh my god, look what Emily posted on her snapchatâ Chris turns his phone around to show Nick a video. A girl stood in shock, teary-eyed as she reads horrible insults that have been scribbled onto her locker.
âslutâ
âwhoreâ
âclout chaserâ
âfuglyâ
The insults go on until the entire locker door is filled with the black sharpie. At the end of the video, the girl turns and runs out of frame, her face just catching the camera as she escapes the laughs.
Nicks heart drops to his feet when he recognises the broken girl. âChris, thatâs y/n.â
âWhat? No way. If someone was picking on her, she wouldâve told us, right?â
Nick doesnât even spare his brother a reply as he grabs his phone and orders an uber. Five minutes away, great. He pulls his shoes on and gets a hoodie from his bedroom.
âGoing to y/nâs! Donât know when Iâll be back!â He calls to his brothers as he makes his way to the front door.
â
Nick jumps out of the car before the uber even stops fully, thanking the driver on his way out.
He rushes to y/nâs front door, her parentsâ cars arenât in the driveway indicating that sheâs home alone. He knocks on the door constantly, calling out her name and calling her phone.
The door opens a crack, when the person on the other side realises that itâs only Nick, y/n opens the door the whole way. Before he can even register the bruise on her cheek, she rushes to him, hugging him tight.
âHey, hey. Itâs okay. I saw what happenedâ He rubs soothing circles on her back. âLetâs go insideâ
Y/n nods and turns into the house. It isnât until Nick has walked into the house and y/n has closed the door and turned to face him, that he sees the black eye and busted lip.
âHoly shit, y/n! Did someone beat you up?â
âNo, I threw the first punch⌠Iâm suspended for a monthâ
âYou got in a fight?â She nods âWhereâs your first aid kit? Thatâs gonna get infectedâ
âI already cleaned it. You didnât have to come all this way for me, you know. Iâm fineâŚâ
Nick sighs and grabs his best friends hand, pulling her to the living room and plopping himself down on the couch, pulling her down to sit next to him.
âY/n listen, you are my best friend, and I love you. So, if you are sad, or hurt, or even hungry! I will always be there to help you out, got it?â
The girl nods and laughs at his words. âI got it, thank you⌠How did you see what happened?â
âSome girl on Chrisâ snapchat put a video on her story⌠you know those things arenât true, right?â
âI know, it just hurts that people think that of me, you know? I used to be friends with her and now sheâs just-â
âHorrible? Awful? A total mega bitch?â Nick fills in the gaps
âYes, yes and yesâ She laughs.
âWait, you used to be friends? Who was it?â
âRemember Maya? I told you about her a while ago, we were practically attached at the hip in middle school?â
âHer? Really? What the fuck is her problem?â
Y/n knows the exact reason why Maya hates her. She doesnât want to tell Nick, as it might hurt his feelings.
âShe- uhmâŚâ
âItâs because youâre friends with me, Chris and Matt, isnât it?â His words are soft, as though he blames himself.
âSheâs just jealous that Iâm friends with you and she isnât. Iâm sorry.â
âWhy are you sorry? Itâs her fucking problem. Dumb bitch canât even keep her jealousy to herself? Thatâs pathetic! I hate bullies.â
Nick notices y/n biting at her lip in worry, re-opening the cut on her lip in the process. A small droplet of blood falls from her lip, Nick winces at the sight. He hates blood.
âYouâre bleeding again, you want a tissue?â
Y/n dabs her lip with her finger, looking at the blood that transfers. âOh shit, yeah. Sorry Nick.â
âItâs no problem, Iâll be right backâ
Nick leaves the room and comes back with some toilet paper, he hands it to the girl and she daps at her bleeding lip again. âThank youâ
âI have an idea. I donât know if youâll like it thoughâ
âYouâre ideas scare meâ
âThis oneâs good, I promise!â
âThen why wonât I like it?â A skeptical tone laces the younger girls voice.
âWhat if you did the rest of your school year from home? Like we had to during covid. Iâm sure the school would let you after what happened today.â Nick sits back down next to his best friend.
âMy mom would kill meâ She lets out a dry chuckle at the genuine thought.
âCome to my house to do itâ He shrugs. âDonât tell her youâre doing it. Come to my house every school-day and do your schoolwork there. Then we can hang out more too.â
Y/n genuinely thinks about it for a few minutes. âItâs not a bad idea⌠Do you think theyâd let me do it without talking to my parents?â
âYou donât know until you askâ He shrugs.
âOkay. Yeah. Iâll talk to the principle when I get back to school.â
âAwesome! And for nowâŚâ Nick smirks as he pulls out his phone. âWe stalk Mayas socials, get dirt on her and talk shit. Order some pizza, itâs gonna be a long night.â
âYouâre my soulmateâ The girl shakes her head, looking at her best friend in awe.
âYou wishâ He scoffs
âSoulmates can be platonic, weirdoâ
âOh. Then yeah, weâre definitely soulmatesâ
