Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
6 of 10 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿
Tumblr media
I had no motivation for so long to write an detailed review, but I have a lot to say about this one. So buckle up.
I wish I could say I was touched to the heart by this movie and super emotional, because that is what I expected it to be. But I got disappointed. Again, I must say. Lately that's more often than not by Marvel movies in theatre. And I am willing to like these movies. I want to like the movies. I am a fangirl by heart. It's just missing those little extras, little somethings to make it a wholesome, round experience.
Spoiler under the cut
I am no heartless bitch by any means. I know they tributed this movie to Chadwick Boseman. Respectfully so. And the silence during the purple coloured Chadwick themed Marvel intro was breathtaking, nervwrecking, heatbreaking, everything. I felt that!
What I unfortunately not felt was that they made Chadwick's death to T'Challas death. I was absolutely on board with the fact that they decided not to recast T'Challa. It was the correct and only decision they could make. But T'Challa being defeated by sickness and suffering in silence for a long time - these are just too many simitalaries. Let T'Challa die his own death. Let him die in action, on the battlefield as the hero he always was and tribute this to Chadwick. The Queen's death another thing I didn't really felt.
Namor as the villain was fine. I loved the underwater world. I hated his tiny feet wings. I am missing the logic behind the sideeffects of consuming a vibranium influenced plant. People from Wakanda consume it and are gifted with the power of The Black Panther. People in Mexico consume it and have to suffer and live under the water.
The only thing that got me by suprise and made me squeal was seeing Killmonger again. Haven't expected it. Liked it. A lot. Made total sense because of Shuri's intensions and feelings. And Shuri following his path instead of having mercy at the end, would have been so much more interesting and adventorous to go along with. I would have loved to see this. Let her go rogue. Let her burn this world down as she said at the beginning. Let her grieve consume her. Because why the hell not? She lost everyone. But no, that's not her way, because that's not the typical Marvel way to handle things. Too ruthless.
Too ruthless? Wait... there was someone else in the movie. RiRi Williams, a 19 year old innocent, but genious MIT student being picked up by Princess Shuri and Okoye. She wasn't amused at all that these strangers got her into big trouble with the FBI and she needed to leave everything behind and go with them. But when they were chased by the feds through the city she didn't even hesitated to risk her live by destroying a satelite (which I never actually felt is a real threat) in 30000 ft and loosing all oxygen. She topped that with bombing away several police cars and officers infront of bridge and noone even batted an eye on it including her. (When Wanda did something similar in Civil War her guilt and the consequences consumed a big part of that movie)
On the other side they won't let Shuri kill Namor who started a war with her country and killed her people. They fighting to death at that beach. I mean Shuri is speared through the middle of her stomach and Namor was cut off his weird achilles wing thing and even set on fire. All of that only for them to decide on peace and showing up on the battleship by casually holding onto an airplane onehanded as if they just got back from a honeymoon.
It's all inconsequent. Not logically enough. They put way more effort in these kind of things during the Infinity Phase. But apparently not anymore and that's why we are not feeling the same hype anymore in the MCU.
Besides all that, I was personally offended by what they did to Okoye. I am a Okoye fangirl. She is the badest of the badasses. Not only degrading her, but also putting her in the ugliest suit on planet earth. Midnight Angel my ass. She deserves better.
M'Baku as King of Wakanda? Hell yeah, I'm here for it. He is a fine specimen of a man.
Ross was married to Val who is director of the CIA? What the actual fucking fuck is going on...
Check out what else I recently watched > here.
Cheers, A.

As the cold night of october settled with beautiful autumn leaves and quiet streets, one specific house didn't bother keeping the nice aesthetic at peace.
People were dancing, drinking, making out, all while loud music played in the background. They didn’t care about the complaining, they only wanted to make as much possible of their youthful days. Even though the house was fairly big, every space was crowded with drunk people having the time of their lives. Making the rooms feel small and claustrophobic. As for you, you were standing alone towards a white wall.
Your best friends had convinced you to come, and since one of them kept on insisting, you couldn’t do much but to agree. That one was Choi Yeonjun, an excited extrovert that always acted out on whatever came to mind, as for the other.. his name was Choi Soobin, the more quiet and calm one. Even though they were different personality wise, they complemented each other very well. Always seeming to get along and joke around, Yeonjun pulling stupid antics and Soobin laughing alongside. they were very good best friends. And they were your best friends.
Your first encounter with Yeonjun almost felt unreal. You being a first year and him being one year above, saw you quietly sitting alone outside the school building. you were eating your lunch by yourself next to the school gymnasium. And as he walked past you towards the gym, he couldn’t help but walk up and greet you.
Ever since that day you've been great friends. Even though you had different classes that also were on different floors you managed to hang out with him quite often. And after a few weeks Yeonjun introduced you to his so called other best friend. That person was Soobin. A freshman just as you, who was in a different class, hence why you hadn’t talked nor seen him before. But still, you fell for him, hard. Not only was he intelligent, funny and kind, he was extremely beautiful. His whole demeanor and appearance was breathtaking. You couldn’t help but take notice at his every feature, slowly ascending into a rabbit hole with nothing to stop you. The more you talked to him the more your love grew. And the fact that he actually saw you as his best friend made your heart skip.
You had hoped for this party to be a great time for you and your friends to dance and have fun. But as soon as you stepped through the wooden door and into the sea off people, you understood that, that wouldn't be the case. Yeonjun made his way towards the kitchen talking to his friend from other schools. Soobin on the other hand, awkwardly made his way towards the living room, trying to keep a low profile. You knew Soobin wasn’t very fond of parties, hence the biggest reason he tried so hard convincing you to come.
“Come on Y/N, I don’t want to take care of Yeonjun alone! Plus, I really like your company..” his words stuck with you, he enjoyed your company? He wanted to spend time with you? You couldn’t help but repeat his phrase in your head. Fixating on every word he said, happy that he wanted to have you around him.
You followed behind closely, trying to not bump into all too many people as the rooms were tightly crowded with all the drunken people. The smell of alcohol being unavoidable. Soobin found an empty wall and leaned towards it, inspecting everyone. While you closely snuck your way past all the people and also leaned toward that white wall.
The music was even louder, the atmosphere humid, as all the drunk sweaty people were jumping up and down to the music. But you couldn’t help but feel an comfortable aura as Soobin stood close to you, smiling a bit to himself. Your heart skipped a beat.
"It's not even 8 pm and people are already wrecked." You started casually, as you looked at all the drunk people roaming around, dancing.
"Yeah, And in about 20 minutes, Yeonjun will become one of them" Soobin answered, looking over at you with a small smile. You let out a chuckle at his funny remark, looking up at him and seeing that beautiful smile of his. Your cheeks felt warm as a smile crept up on your lips.
"Oh well, good thing there's two of us cause we all know that Yeonjun is a two-man-job" you replied, which made Soobin let out a little laugh. The beautiful sound ringing so perfectly in your ears.
"Yeah.." he looked back at the people, keeping that smile. Your heart skipped a beat, and slowly, you felt the urge creeping up on you. You wanted to confess. You knew confessing in a party with music blasting and people being all crazy wasn’t the most romantic, but you couldn’t hold back these feelings anymore. this was the time. You wanted to tell him how you felt.
"Soobin I have something to tell you.." you felt nervous, as your voice evidently shook a bit. your heartbeat speed up, as small sweat drops formed on your forehead. This was more nervwrecking than you thought.
"What is it Y/N?” the way he said your name so softly and how he kept that smile on his beautiful lips. You loved it.
Before you could continue your sentence, a sudden distraction occurred when someone accidentally bumped right into Soobin, falling head first into his arms. Quickly, he grabbed the person by the arms, trying to help the person in question finding their balance. Before you knew it, they looked up. She was stunning, absolutely gorgeous. You almost blushed when you saw her beautiful features complimenting her in every way.
"Oh my god! I am so sorry!" She was evidently embarrassed, her voice not sounding slurred or anything, she was probably a bit more on the sober side. She looked apologetic as she kept apologizing for literally launching at Soobin, but Soobin was kind. Giving her that dimpled smile and telling her that everything was fine.
"No it's okay!" Soobin quickly replied, he took a good look at the girl in front of him, even he looked stunned at her beauty, you noticed a small blush forming on his cheeks. You were paralyzed.
"I was just trying to get to the kitchen and suddenly someone came out of nowhere and pushed me.." the girls voice was soft, and she seemed so sweet. Soobin couldn't help but stare at her fondly, inspecting every bits of her. He was truly mesmerized.
You heart took a turn, this was the last thing you wanted. You confession directly flew out the door. There’s no way you could confess now. Maybe this was for the better..? Never had Soobin ever looked at you that way. You felt defeated.
"Don't worry. We all know being sober in a room with drunk people are bound to cause trouble." Soobin said, making the girl laugh.
"Yeah haha, they love coming out of nowhere.." She continued, and to that you were just watching intently as the girl and Soobin made conversation. It seemed so casual, like they've known each other their whole life. And you could see a faint blush on Soobin’s cheeks.
"My name is Soobin, and yours?"
"Yujin, nice to meet you Soobin" they shook hands, looking at each other with adoration. While completely ignoring you.
You couldn't handle the sight and slowly slinked your way out of the situation. Sure, meeting a new person is fine, especially if they seem as nice as her. But why did they have to ignore you? You were standing right there, watching their moves intently. Couldn’t you at least get a ‘hi’ or an introduction from soobin? No, your presence was too invincible.
You could feel tears pricking your eyes but you tried your hardest keeping them in. You didn't want to cause a scene and especially in front of Soobin. You didn’t come to this party for your own entertainment, you came to support Soobin. If he was happy without your company, then you had to accept it.
Slowly you made your way to a new bare wall, a bit afar from Soobin and Yujin, you could still observe them talking. And so you did, occasionally looking down at your phone and texting a few people. You wanted to go to Yeonjun but he was dancing crazy on the dance floor which you had expected. so you just decided to keep leaning towards that white wall. Luckily, you had your phone, you could distract yourself easily by playing on it for a few hours. Still, the growing feeling of sadness didn’t ease of your mind. You were disappointed to say the least, this was suppose to be a night you confessed. But everything changed so quickly, in a heartbeat.
As time ticked, Soobin and Yujin were still talking. for the first time in a long time, you looked over at them. surprised to see Soobin holding a red cup. When did he get that drink? I didn't even know Soobin liked alcohol.. You shrugged it off, knowing that Soobin is a responsible person and you were just too tired to even think straight.
Quietly, you tapped on Soobin’s shoulder, he looked down at you with surprise.
"Oh hey Y/N. What is it?" His voice was a bit harsh, as if he didn't want to get interrupted talking to Yujin at this time. It made your heart sink, you just wanted to get out of there quickly.
"Hey Soobin soo,” you paused and looked up at him more clearly, he was anticipating your sentence, clearly wanting to go back to whatever him and Yujin talked about. Eager to keep hearing whatever she had to say.
“..I'm really tired and I think I wanna go home now so.."
"Oh.." he didn’t know what else to say, but it was enough for you to understand that you would leave this party alone. You felt you hear crumble, tears pricking your eyes. He had promised to walk you home that night, since he knew it was quite a walk and being a Saturday night it might be dangerous. But now you knew that walking home together were no longer an option. You nodded and made your way out the crashed house, ascending into the dark streets of Seoul.
As soon as you had turned a block, tears fell down you soft red cheeks, and a quiet sobbing followed by that. Thinking back, it was good that you never confessed, cause it was obviously one-sided all along. It was clear that he liked Yujin. You couldn't stop feeling such pain in your chest as you thought back to that scene of him and her talking, just letting you stand by all alone. How he never once, looked over his shoulder to see if you still were there, or even hesitating when he noticed your small disappointed face when he waved you off. He said he enjoyed your company, and he’s suppose to be your best friend. How could one girl make everything change so drastically?
Now you were walking home, alone. Crying, freezing and heartbroken.
You were angry at Soobin for letting this happen, but also angry at yourself. For thinking that you even had a chance with him in the first place.
•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
Finally you came home without incident. You locked the door and slipped of you shoes before sluggishly making your way towards your bedroom. The crying had stopped now, but the depressive aura was still there. And so you fell onto your bed letting out a loud sigh.
After playing with your phone for almost 3 hours at the party, it was dead, so you plugged it in and made your way towards the shower. It was nice letting some steam off as you took your time in the warm shower.
You hair now wrapped around in a towel, along with you dressed in a pajamas. You made your way back towards the bed, reaching for your phone on the nightstand and turning it on. Your screen flashes the notification box, showing 5 missed calls and 11 messages from Soobin. You were chocked, why had he so desperately tried contacting you? Quickly you dialed him back.
He picked up immediately.
"Y/N! Aahh, Finally you picked up!” He sounded hysterical, but you heard how his voice tried calmed down, trying to compose his breathing again.
“Where are you? I thought we were going home together." Had he forgotten the whole ‘I want to go home?’ Conversation? This was ridiculous.
"Soobin. I told you that I wanted to go home and you just told me goodbye before continuing talking to that girl.. so I went home alone." You couldn't believe that he actually forgot that conversation because he was so invested in Yujin, which only made you more upset.
Soobin was quiet, probably trying to find his words. After a while, you could hear a tired sigh.
"I- I'm so sorry Y/N. God, I'm such an idiot. Please let me make it up to you.."
You could hear regret in his voice, he felt guilty for sure. but still that sourness didn't disappear,
"I can come over and we can watch a movie or have a sleepover.." you heard the desperate attempt to make his situation better but only silence fell from your lips.
"I don't think that's a good idea right now. I'm really tired so I'm going to bed but, but I guess I'll see you around." You were harsh in your tone, just like he was an hour ago. And to that you hung up before he could even answer you. For some it may seem harsh, but to you it felt like a good start to try forgetting him.
Cause you were now a 100% that being with him would never happen.
•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
Early morning came, and you felt the sun shining on your skin. It was a nice October morning, one that you’d have the urge to sit by a cafe and watch the beautiful autumn leaves flow by as the wind drifted them away. The apartment was quiet. And you comfortable woke up to the sound of the city waking up. As you made your way toward the kitchen, wanting to get started on some breakfast. The doorbell rang. Quickly you made your way to the wooden door. Turning the handle without checking who it was first.
"Soobin?" Was the first word that came out, you were chocked to meet eyes with your tall friend. He looked tired, had soft eyebags and messier hair, but he stilled looked stunning. You imagined if that would be how Soobin looked like waking up next to him. Feeling his soft skin and touches.
"Hey can I come in?" Soobin looked at you with sweet eyes while holding up a bag of snacks. You knew this was his way of redemption, trying to make it up to you.
Before you could answer Soobin spoke up again,
"Please, I really want to make it up to you.." his voice still calm, but showing so much emotions. And his eyes pleading with guilt. You couldn't resist him. You were close caving in, inviting him inside and letting him win over you once more. But you had to refuse,
"I'm sorry Soobin, but I'm busy today.." you didn't look up at him to see his reaction, but you noticed how he let out a loud sigh.
"Okay then.. well you can just call me whenever you're free." And with that he set the bag of snacks down and made his way from your door. You promptly closed the door behind him and sighed to yourself. You didn't want to reject him like that, but you also couldn't handle being so hopelessly in love with him. This the best way to dismiss your feelings, in better words. Stop loving him.
•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
"Hey Y/N! I’m waiting for you by the ice-cream store already!" Yeonjun’s positive tone made you feel better.
"Okay sure, I’ll be there in 10 minutes." A faint chuckle let out from your lips.
"Okay! Bye!" And to that you hung up the phone.
It has gone by a few weeks since that party. And your terms with Soobin wasn't the best at the moment. He had stopped trying to make it up to you, which seemed like a good thing, but he started seeing Yujin more and more. Apperantly they exchanged phone numbers and they've been going out together. Jealousy overcame you, you didn't want this to happen. But still, you can’t control how Soobin felt towards other, this was your problem to bare. Your selfishness was the reasoning for this. So you had to make up for it by yourself.
You quickly slipped on your shoes before heading out the door.
After a 5 minute walk you saw the mentioned Ice-cream shop that you and Yeonjun wanted to try out. Yeonjun stood outside the shop, tall and handsome, and along side him was... Soobin.
You cursed Yeonjun for not telling you that Soobin also were invited, you were in the middle of operation-forget-Soobin and it was impossible if Soobin was in your presence. You knew that as soon as you met his beautiful eyes you were bound cave in once more. But there was no turning back now, Yeonjun spotted you and loudly shouted for you to hurry. And so you did. Soobin looked at you, his eyes inspecting your every move. you could feel your heartbeat quicken. This was awkward, you haven't answered any of Soobin’s texts or phone calls and now you were on your merry way to meet him face to face.
"I'm so excited, I've been craving Ice-cream the whole day!" Yeonjun put his arm around you before happily entering the shop. It was a lot of people there, hence it being a new place. You stood at the queue and waited. Soobin was behind you. you could feel his gaze watch over you as you tried your best to ignore him. His presence was unbearable, and your heartbeat kept quickening.
Slowly he leaned closer to you and bent down towards your ear.
"You look nice today.." his tone was sweet and soft. Your breath hitched at his action. Dammit Soobin. You tried your best to continue ignoring him, instead looking over at Yeonjun and tried starting a conversation.
“Should I get Oreos or caramel as a topping?”
......
After 10 minutes you all had finally gotten the ice-cream you craved and stood outside the shop in the nice October sunlight. Digging in immediately. Yeonjun enjoyed his ice-cream loudly, complimenting it every second he got. Soobin on the other hand was gentle and licked small portions, not making any sound at all. It impressed you that such different people can become such good friends.
There was an awkward silence between the three of you, which only you and Soobin noticed. Yeonjun was too invested in his ice-cream to even notice the tension you and Soobin had built up.
It was uncomfortable, feeling Soobin’s eyes pierce onto you, trying to get your attention. At this point you knew he was desperate for winning you back. He missed his best friend. But you didn't oblige, you kept the determination to ignore him and stared at the ice-cream, trying to wave off his intensive stare.
Yeonjun finished of his ice-cream with a loud sigh and looked at you with a big smile.
"Best mint chocolate ice-cream I've ever had!" He chuckled as he made his way towards the door.
"Wait, where are you going?" You asked quickly, he pointed towards the inside and mumbled about tissues. Before you could intervene and follow him inside he closed the door behind him.
Making you and Soobin stand outside there all alone.
Curse you Yeonjun for being so ignorant, there's no way you can make it out of this situation without awkward tension.
You let out a loud sigh and looked down at the ground. Continuing to lick your ice-cream. Soobin was quiet, but he kept his stare. You just wanted this situation to end as quick as possible.
"Y/N, I know you're angry at me.. I know I screwed up.." he started, you could hear his voice cracking a bit. But you didn't dare to look up at his expression. You kept listening,
"But please, listen to me when I tell you that I am genuinely sorry. I miss you, you know.." his tone was desperate, he truly meant every word. You knew him long enough to know how he sounds like when he's at the point of breaking.. At this point, you couldn’t take it anymore. The feeling of neglecting everything you have inside your heart was breaking you slowly, and you just couldn't take it.
You were quiet for a bit, but you let out a small sigh before starting,
"Soobin, I just feel so betrayed and disappointed.. you left me.. because of this girl, like this new girl was more important than your.. best friend.." you sounded so selfish and pathetic as your strong voice ended with a quiet whimpering as tears prickled your eyes. Soobin looked confused, his lips were trembling, so were his hands. But slowly he reached out to your hand. His soft touch feeling your cold hand. He held onto it and started caressing it with his thumb.
"I am sorry.." his voice was low, and he cursed at himself for not giving you a better respond, but he didn't know what to say. For being such a cool headed guy, he never knew what to do in situations like these. When someone was deeply hurt and the reasoning for it, was him.
As he looked down at you, something in his mind wasn't adding up. He still couldn't put a finger down why you were so disappointed as you were. Sure, the situation at hand was not something to just look past, but your demeanor and reaction was a bit different for a thing like this.
"Y/N, I am truly sorry.. I'm sorry for leaving you, ignoring you and forgetting you.." you just nodded as a response, keeping your head low.
“I will never do that again, ever. You are so important to me, and I don’t want to hurt you again.” He once again sounded desperate, but you knew his words were genuine. He really did treasure your friendship. Before you could respond, he started,
"But I need to know.., is there something else that I've done towards you?" His question took you by surprise. You knew Soobin wouldn't be satisfied with nothing but the truth. So you opted the only option left, It was time to say it. Your voice was trembling, and you slowly looked up at his eyes, tears prickling at your own. Slowly you opened your mouth, wording.
"Soobin.. I'm in love with you.."
you voice was shaking, and your heart at this point was about to burst. His eyes widened at the statement, and he let go of your hand.
It fell quiet between the two of you, only the city ambiance filling the quietness between you.
Say something dammit.. this was nervwrecking. He was just staring at you with wide eyes, not expecting to hear such deep words coming from you. You couldn’t help but fiddle with your fingers, waiting and waiting for his answer.
Just say something! Anything..!
He was quiet, shocked. You couldn’t take it anymore. You spoke up, tears now falling.
"I know you don't like me back, because of the way you.. look at her, I just know.." Soobin was quiet, his mind was in chaos trying to register and analyze what you just said.
"I'm.. sorry.." his voice was trembling, just like yours. He once again cursed himself for not giving you a better answer, here you are spilling you heart out, being vulnerable. And all he could do was say sorry. idiot.
you gave him a small nodded, as a appreciative smile crept up on your lips. You were grateful that the answer was clear as day, and that you could finally move on. You backed away a bit.
"It was nice while it lasted, you were a good friend Soobin.. and I hope you treat her well.." you couldn’t be there anymore, there was no reason to keep seeing that face he made. He looked shocked, almost in disbelief. It was too much to bare.
you turned around and threw what was left of the ice-cream into the trash bin. Before quickly walking away, leaving Soobin alone. He knew following you was pointless, it would just make the situation at hand worse. But he couldn’t help but to feel guilt and regret creeping up on him. Why couldn’t he say what he really thought..?
Yeonjun finally came out after a couple of minutes.
"Sorry for making you wait so long, I went to the restroom as well soo.." he trailed off when he noticed that you had left.
"Where did Y/N go.? Did they also go to the restroom?” Yeonjun looked over at Soobin, who was now looking down onto the pavement.
"They didn't feel well and went home.." Soobin said, a very blunt and obvious lie. Yeonjun sensed it, but he didn’t want to further question, this wasn’t his business. A loud sigh escaped his lips.
"That’s too bad, I really like hanging out with them.." Yeonjun was visibly upset. Scratching his head roughly.
"Yeah, Me too..”

A/N:
God I absolutely love pure angst, and I’ve always had a thing for unrequited love. Idk why
I wanted to end this in a sad note once again, hope you don’t mind :,)
I’ll probably do a more fluff next time and I was leaning against Yeonjun or Hueningkai. But I’m not sure.
If you have any ideas or suggestions, go ahead and send them in my ask box! I’d love to hear your ideas!
Either way, I want to say thank you for all the amazing response I got from Rainy Days. I was so nervous when posting but you all are so sweet!
Ty for reading, Byeee❤️

Hi o(*^▽^*)┛ Soooo, this will be a lot (13), but... these questions are really nice, so take as much time as you need to answer, or answer only a few of the following : Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Pom Poko, Whisper of the Heart, The Cat Returns, Howl’s Moving Castle, Tales From Earthsea, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, Secret World of Arrietty, From up on Poppy Hill, Mary and the Witch’s Flower, Studio Ponoc, Studio Ghibli.
Oh my, thank you very much for so many questions! (I'm sorry to have left you waiting this long, I'd more on my plates than expected the last few days...) They're super nice indeed, so once again I thank you for the fun they brought. (o゜▽゜)o☆
Castle in the Sky: If you could live in any fictional place what would it be? (laputa, atlantis, narnia etc.)? Probably Earth Sea for the possibilities to travel through the sea and encounter so many cultures per island. And dragons. Or Lyra's World when it begins to establish the Republic of Heaven, just out of curiosity to know what shape and personality my daemon has.
My Neighbor Totoro: Favourite mythical creature? Dragons! I loved them since I was a child, and my dracology book remains on the shelf!
Pom Poko: Favourite animal? Wolves and donkeys. (Donkeys are underappreciated (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ))
Whisper of the Heart: What are you most passionate about? Why? Currently a lot of things I enjoy like traveling around the world are rather limited so at the the moment meeting friends from aboard, it's tending my parent's garden. (although it's more a warfare against weed at it's current state)
The Cat Returns: What is the coolest adventure you’ve ever been on? Hmmm, wouldn't know what would qualify for an adventure but mounting Piton de la Fournaise the early morning, passing through different kinds of forests, one entirely quieted from the moss, stars splashed over a midnight silk sky, the first sunrise illuminating a city of clouds in coral rim. Simply breath taking!
Howl’s Moving Castle: Which movie adaption do you prefer to the book? Hmm, there would be two titles: Stardust and the talented Mr.Ripley. Admittedly, Stardust much more closer to a classic fairy tale formula and remarkably less melancholic than Gaiman's original story. But the jokes (the noble ghosts, the witches bickering, Victoria and Humphrey being played up to an 11), the small creative details added within side characters, and of course the brilliant, brilliant casting of Robert de Niro, and Michelle Pfeiffer were a delight. For Anthony Minghella's adaptation, in my opinion he elevated the original material into a more concise thrill rather than Highsmith's novel simmering down the nervwrecking circumstances Tom has to navigate. The end of the book is a bit too smooth for my liking. And of course, the added material of Marge actually being bright adds to the tension as well as contradiction Tom's misogynistic opinion about her, and the very explicit bisexuality of Tom's was my first concious indulgence is ~*problematic queer media*~. ;) Of course, the cinematography and direction of photography is just *chef's kiss*. If anything, a lot of the queer themes in the movie appear, in my eyes, like an explicit "fuck you" to Plein soleil.
Tales From Earthsea: Tell me about something that everyone else hates, but you love. Hmm, most of the times it's the other way around. xD Dunno, maybe it's enjoying doing household chores to make a living space more spacious, more proper, like sorting out old stuff, seeing my space becoming gradually more neat and clean. As the dusty saying goes "cleaning on the outside is cleaning on the inside". (Ever since living on my own I transform into a 1950s advertisement house wife in which a perfectly functional (and silent!) vacuum or something that helps me to get rid of annoying spots on white laundry makes my day better.)
Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea: Favourite fairytale? Oh, so many! If I really had to choose, it woud be the gallant tailor, Donkey skin, and the Frog Tsarevna.
Secret World of Arrietty: Tell me about the most beautiful place you have ever been. Oh boy, you have it in for me with complicated questions. ;) If I had to choose... Baden-Baden as this city seems to fulfill every fairy tale machination possible. Lushly the pituresque city arises with it's shadowy parks in the middle of the dense, deep Black Forest. As for landscapes, the actual nature, nothing can beat Ireland or la Réunion to me - at least the places I've been to before. Granted, I lived in Ireland for a year, and the people I met there certainly influenced my liking for this country but I swear, never have you seen this much rich emerald around you. Especially the more untamed landscape of Killarney are a wonder to behold. And la Réunion is just breath takingly beautiful, especially the parts where forests grow on cliffs by the seas.
From up on Poppy Hill: Tell me about an experience that changed your life or your worldview. Hmmm, perhaps some small things coming together all the time when you meet new people exchange stories, share ideas and opinions, some talks leave you reconsidering truths one held before. But pinpointing part of my life during which I watched myself grow in a sense of becoming more considerate of different needs, beginning to gradually working on my anger issues, was my year aboard in Ireland, working in a field I never thought I would work in, meeting earnest, direct people (I can't stress how good as well as important it is to have older friends in your life), this was an experience I will always hold dear.
Mary and the Witch’s Flower: What is the last movie you watched? What are your thoughts on it? Bad genius directed by Nattawut Poonpiriya (rewatch). And my thoughts couldn't be any simpler: AWESOME!!!!!
Studio Ponoc: Do you like change? Kinda. Change is inevitable, a neutral process. How good or bad it is depends on my attitude towards it possible outcome and how I would see myself in these circumstances.
Studio Ghibli: Top three Studio Ghibli movies? okay now... my personal Top 3 are: Porco Rosso, Kaguya-hime no Monogatari, and the always beloved Mononoke Hime.

@meepishme deceided the first one who’s backstory I should elaborate on (in the pirate au) is Virgil! @alias290 idk if you still wanna be tagged in this stuff just let me know if not
(I’m doing this in fic form (which is why this too so long, sorry) it’s jumping a bit in the timeline (only after the deathday) All in all I’m not sure how happy I’m with the end result but whatever.)
Also the other four crew members are half other characters belonging to Thomas Sanders with two minor OCs sprinkled in.
Word count: 2340 (not betaed)
Warnings: abandonment, memory issues (not really but issues with forgetting shit), abusive parents (no violence in fic, but mention of parent wanting their kid dead)
Virgil leaned on the wood of the railing, his post in the crowsnest long abandoned.
It had been five days since they had spotted this island and discovered that once the low tide set in the Eye of God was stranded on the beach, free to leave as soon as the high tide came back.
It had been four days since Remus, Roman, Nija, Kai and Elliott had gone to scout the island.
It had been two days since Logan had gotten so restless he couldn’t wait anymore and had gone out to search for them together with Janus, Patton and Muk, leaving Virgil behind with those so familiar words.
“Keep watch over the ship, okay?”
Just that Logan always followed it up with “I’ll be back soon.”
He did it since he’d gone to pull the last lever and Virgil had broken down. They all made sure to promise that they’d be back since then. That they wouldn’t abandon the ship and him with her.
Logan didn’t really have to say it with the request.
Virgil would agree anyway.
He always watched over the ship.
He had to.
But it had been two days since they’d left.
The island wasn’t that big.
At least the first group should be back by now.
Unless something bad had happened to them.
Virgil anxiously glanced to the horizon, where the sun was steadily moving closer to the sea.
Soon it would be six and three days.
“I should do something...”
Nobody answered.
“But I need to watch the ship... I could take the ship with me. It would be hard on my own but I could do it. But then I’d have to...”
His gaze wandered towards the steering wheel and he swallowed past the forming clump in his throat.
“No...”
Virgil sunk down until his head rested on his arms.
“Sundown,” he decided. “I’ll wait till sundown. Then I’ll go look.”
He looked down at the sand.
“If I can.”
The twins both like to wonder what he was. They never listened when he said human, but they did listen when they asked if he could leave the ship and he didn’t answer. They’d listened and taken it as a no.
But it wasn’t.
It was an “I don’t know.” An “It’s been so long since i tried that I can barely remember.”
Maybe Remus was right. Maybe he was a ghost tied to the ship and he had just never noticed that he’d died.
What would happen then if he tried to leave? Would he just disappear?
The thought scared him.
But the thought of losing yet another crew was scarier. Because how long would it take this time before their faces became too blurry to recall? How long until he didn’t know their names anymore or couldn’t be sure if they’d been part of this crew or one of the others?
He sighed.
About an hour later the last rays of sunlight barely tinted the horizon orange, lingering even though the sun was already gone.
Carefully Virgil climbed down the strick ladder. Inches above the ground he stopped.
Just underneath his foot was the sand.
He bit his lip and stared down at it.
Taking a deep breath he scrunched his eyes shut and lowered himself to the ground.
The sand was soft and shifted under his bare feet. Virgil curled his toes into it and opened his eyes again.
Slowly he let go of the ladder and took a step back.
A mix of anxiety and exitement swirled in his stomach.
He could leave. He wasn’t a ghost. That was good, very good, because that meant that he could find the others and be back before anything happened to the ship.
“I’ll be right back,” he told her. Then he turned and ran towards the forest.
The rough ground, sticks and stones felt strange but at the same time brought back echos of memories he’d long forgotten.
At another time he might’ve stopped and chased these echos, but right now he had to find his crew, before they became nothing but an echo as well.
It took him less than an hour to find a building hidden between the trees.
Well, that was an explanation at least.
Virgil snuck downhill to the gate and looked around uneasy. He didn’t like this place and the longer he was away from the ship the more he felt like it was a bad idea to leave at all.
-_-_-_-_-
Janus cursed and let the lock fall back against the metal bars.
“I can’t open it,” he muttered, stuffing the toothpick back in his pocket. He muttered something about “If I had an actual lockpick-” but no one was listening anymore.
Logan sighed.
“Great. So we’re stuck here,” he rubbed his temples. “I fucking hate cults.”
“If they at least wanted us for our bodies,” Remus spoke up, sounding genuinely disappointed. “But nooo... We’re just human sacrifices. I’m too hot to die.”
“Bitch, you’re gross,” Roman elbowed him in the ribs. “I’m the hot one.”
“Guys, we’re about to be killed, can you argue about who’s better looking some other time?” Nija groaned. “Besides, I’m obviously hotter.”
The door to the hallway opened and Logan tensed.
A guard fell to the ground with a chatter.
“What the-?”
A small figure slipped inside.
“Virgil?” Logan stepped up to the cell bars.
“You can leave the ship?” Janus raised an eyebrow. “That’s new.”
“Are you okay?” Virgil’s voice shook slightly.
“About to become god sacrifice but other than that okay,” Roman smirked. “Can you break the lock?”
“I can try,” Virgil raised his knife and took the lock in hand.
It fell just moments later and the cell door slid open. Nobody listened when Janus muttered that it was easier with a knife.
They only encountered two people on their way out but they didn’t even get the chance to shout before they were knocked out.
Logan let his gaze linger on Virgil.
Even though it had been over ten years he was still a teenager. Maybe a bit older than back when they’d met but barely.
He was shorter than Nija and didn’t even have that awkward lankyness most teens had, as if he hadn’t even reached his growth spurt yet.
Logan heard Remus chuckle behind him which was usuall a bad thing, but before he could react Remus had swooped past him, taken his hat and dumped it on Virgil’s head.
It slid over his eyes and Virgil stumbled before pushing it up slightly.
He shot Remus a confused look and went to take the hat off but Logan stopped him.
“Keep it for now. It suits you.”
-_-_-_-_-
Logan pulled the grip slightly and watched the ship pass though ‚the curtain‘ as Roman had named it. There was something nervwrecking about sailing through the very fabric of reality into another world.
He also had to be ready for any terrain they might end up in and had to be ready to adjust as needed.
„Sky!“ Virgil called and immediatly everyone was moving.
The main mast was split in half into wing like constructions in seconds, far quicker than the first time they‘d flown.
Logan streered them higher until they broke through the clouds and were under the bright morning sky of another world.
„There‘s something starboard!“ Virgil called. „I think it‘s an Island!“
„Can we check it out?“ Patton turned to Logan with a wide smile.
„Sure, why not?“
It didn‘t take long for the island to come into view and Virgil climbed down to lean against the railing.
„How…?“ Logan heard him whisper and he leaned over it, nearly falling. „It is!“
„Do you know this place?“ he asked.
If Virgil heard him he ignored him completely. He dashed over the ship towards the bow.
“The island has a harbour,” Janus called over to Logan. “Should we land?”
He glanced over to Virgil and back to Logan.
“Yes, let’s land.”
“Can I come with you?” Virgil asked as soon as they landed in the harbour. “Please?”
He had left the ship only two times even after the cult island, usually refusing when Patton or anyone else offered to take him on shore.
“Of course,” Logan answered. Virgil still hadn’t answered how he knew this place, but if it was this important to him, Logan couldn’t exactly say no.
While Patton, Janus, Mul and Nija stayed behind, Logan, Virgil and the twins wandered away from the ship, and Logan watched Virgil grow more and more restless, looking for something.
They didn’t meet a single person in the narrow streets of what looked like had once been a rich town. Remus wondered aloud if they’d find corpses anywhere, earning himself a playful smack from Roman.
The sudden sound of footsteps made them stop on a crossroad.
Logan let his hand rest on his cutlass.
“It’s been a while since I’ve had guests around here,” a man’s voice spoke up behind them.
Virgil swirled around in a heart beat.
“Dad!”
He dashed towards the man and tackled him in a hug.
“What?!” Roman blurted out.
The man looked down at Virgil slightly confused. He had a scruffy beard and dark tanned skin. He looked like someone who worked outside in the sunlight a lot.
He reached up to put his hands on Virgil’s shoulders and pushed him off slowly.
“Virgil?” he asked, sounding just as surprised as Roman. “You’re alive?”
“I watched over the ship,” Virgil smiled up at the man. “Just like you told me to!”
But the man didn’t even seem to listen.
“How are you alive?” he asked, louder this time. “I sent you out of this world into time so you could age. You shouldn’t be alive!”
“What do you mean?” Logan could hear the smile slip off Virgil’s face.
“I put you on that ship to die. What are you doing back here?” the man nearly growled this time.
“What-? You said you needed me to watch over her,” Virgil sounded so much more like the kid he was, than Logan had ever heard him.
Following an impulse he stepped forward and put his body between Virgil and the man.
“Who are you?” the man hissed at him.
He was intimidating, sure, but Logan had messed with gods before. He wasn’t afraid of this asshole.
“I am Captain Logan Conley. Who the fuck do you think you are?”
-_-_-_-_-
Virgil heard Dad answer but he couldn’t really hear what he said. His ears were ringing.
Here on the Island there was no time, he knew that. It was why Dad had taken him elsewhere a lot when he had been little. Just so he would actually age.
But this time Dad had wanted him to stay gone.
He’d sent him away to die.
Suddenly everything was too loud.
The Captain was yelling and Dad was yelling and Dad had lied, he’d lied to him, he’d wanted him dead!
He had to get away.
Virgil ran past the twins, through the familiar paths back to the ship.
Muscle memory wanted him to climb up into the rigging - “You have to watch over the ship, it’s important” - but that was a lie too, wasn’t it?
“Hey, kid-” he barely heard Patton as he rushed past and down into the ship’s hold.
Down in the cargo bay he curled up, hiding behind a crate.
For a while he was alone. Long enough for him to catch his breath and stop crying at least.
Then he heard footsteps.
“Can we sit down by your side?” Remus asked, his voice softer than usual.
Virgil glanced up.
The twins stood a few feet away, waiting for an answer.
He nodded.
Remus sat down to his left, Roman to his right.
“Hey, kid,” Roman said.
“Hey,” Virgil’s voice sounded brittle even to his own ears.
“So, this is where you’re from,” Roman nodded. “It’s a nice Island... How long did you live here?”
Virgil shrugged.
“There’s no time here,” he said even though he was pretty sure they had gathered that much by now. “Physically,” he added after a moment of thought,” I think I was... six?”
His voice wobbled on the last word as more tears threatened to spill.
Remus sighed.
“You know, family is pretty complicated sometimes,” he spoke up. “You always think, and people tell you, that family is your blood and the people you grow up with. Like your dad for you, my father and mother, so on and so fourth. But... That’s bullshit. It’s absolute crap. Family has nothing to do with blood.”
Virgil glanced up at him again.
“But you and Roman are brothers. You’re blood. You’re family.”
“We are,” Roman nodded. “But we’re family that just so happens to also be blood.”
Virgil frowned.
“I don’t get what you mean.”
“Family are the people you choose. The people you feel safe around, who you trust and who just... feel like home,” Remus tried to explain. “I know this sounds cliche but I don’t know how else to put it.”
“What we’re trying to say is... It’s hard when the people who you thought were supposed to love you don’t and you don’t know why, but it’s not your fault. And it doesn’t mean you’re alone. There are people who will love you,” Roman put an arm over Virgil’s shoulder. Lightly enough that Virgil could easily shake it off if he wanted to.
He didn’t.
“If you want us to, we could be your family,” Remus suggested.
“I-” Virgil’s breath hitched. “I’d like that.”
“Come here,” he could hear Roman smile and the next thing he knew he was being hugged from both sides.
He couldn’t stop himself from crying again.
“Don’t tell him I said this,” Remus spoke up again after a while,” but I’m pretty sure the Captain thinks of you as his son.”
“Patton definitely does,” Roman nodded.
“Patton thinks we’re all his kids,” Virgil managed between sobs.
“And honestly, I think we are.”

Tenma Tenma Tenma Tenma Tenma. that was my entire thought process, i just love beach!tenma so much and i went a little crazy. sorry about that~ tenma has such a specific, chaotic energy to me and i had to write about it
word count: 3,632
music: lightning in a bottle – the summer set (please mel this is the most perfect song ever, you’d love it!)
summer nights.
🌻☀️ sumeragi tenma
school was out and life never felt so good!
the moment that last bell rang, tenma sprinted outside of the academy with his emerald green uniform blazer flying behind him
“freedom! no more school!” tenma shouted into the horizon, ignoring the judgemental looks he got from students who were, you know, leaving normally
“tenma! wait up!” you sprinted after him, jumping onto his back as tenma instinctually caught you with his arms supporting your legs around his waist
(you did this so much, he started purposely turning his back towards you so he could catch you)
looking over his shoulder, tenma grinned as he adjusted his grip and started heading out to the sidewalk to walk home
“how was your day?” tenma asked, feeling you hum as you rested your head against his shoulder. tenma almost tripped over nothing, his cheeks burning as he averted his eyes to the clear, sunny blue sky
“okay, better now i have my boyfriend to carry me wherever i want.” you held onto his dress shirt loosely, your nose fitting perfectly with the curve of his neck. he smelled sweaty, he obviously tried way too hard in gym and it showed
tenma grinned, pretending to yawn as he lightly loosened his hold, making you slip down out of no where as you squeaked, tightly holding onto his shoulders
“my bad, sunshine. seems like i’m a bit rusty at piggyback rides.” tenma nonchalantly teased, but tensed when he felt you freeze against his back. did he say something wrong?
tenma puffed out one cheek, wondering if he should push aside his pride and apologize before you reached over and pinched his cheek, smiling sweetly
“sunshine?” you watched as tenma’s face turned red and he nudged your hands off. tenma huffed, wanting to die and fall into a black hole on the street so bad. he could say he didn’t mean it—
“i like it.” you whispered, returning your head on his shoulder. you couldn’t stop smiling; tenma was so precious even if he acted like he was some hotshot. tenma was just so cute when he acted like he didn’t care about romance (he did, very much. he tried very hard)
“it’s been so sunny recently, too. i miss going to the beach.” you mumbled, absentmindedly playing with his tie. you two reached the part of town with plenty of trees, providing shadows to cool down from the summer heat
tenma slowed down by the vending machine, popping in a coin to pass you your favorite drink. you couldn’t see his face, but you knew it was blushing as his hand slightly shook passing you the can
(he remembered, how cute)
“let’s go then.” tenma coughed into his arm, rushing the words so they were hard to hear. you tilted your head, staring at his face as he stared directly ahead of him. tenma pressed a button at the crosswalk, waiting for the walkimg light to let him pass
“what?” you asked, pretending like you didn’t hear him the first time just to poke fun at his shyness. tenma kicked at a stone beneath his shoe, rolling his eyes as he looked at your shit–eating grin
“you heard me the first time. we can go now if you want.” tenma raised his eyebrow, knowing he had you hook, line, and sinker. the predicament was perfect: there was no more homework to keep you both up stressed, no more finals to cram for, and certainly no more classes keeping you guys apart. it was time to catch up on all those dates you missed from school events
“have i told you you’re the most perfect man ever?” you teased, but genuinely laughed when his face got even redder. of course, child star tenma, who got compliments and praise everyday couldn’t handle it when you said something nice. it was endearing to see what an effect you had on him
“shut up.” he muttered, letting you down gently as he phoned his private driver an update to his plans
you sat down on the bench, innocently drinking your drink as you glanced around at the sunlight streaming through the leaves
(tenma mid–conversation blanked, turning to see you completely at peace. he softly smiled, admiring the way you glowed in the summer sun before his driver called his name, making him jump slightly before stammering back a quick response)
(you caught his eye and you both tried your hardest not to laugh like two crazy teens in love)
you arrived at the beach with excitement to match your beloved boyfriend’s rare enthusiasm
(tenma kept asking if they were there yet, backing down when he noticed his driver send him a sharp glare. he leaned on you for reassurance, pouting like a little kid)
tenma wore his classic pair of oversized sunglasses that did nothing to hide his identity, passing you your own, from the trunk
(yes, you even had matching ones! he had bought them one day after throwing a whole tantrum about losing them. when they arrived, tenma acted like he just found his “lost” pair when in reality, he just liked matching with you)
(he’d never admit it, though. no matter how much evidence you had against him, he was a stubborn soul)
in case of long rides, you two liked singing your heart out to the top 50 songs on the radio. the driver always turned it up so he could block out tenma’s terrible attempts at hitting the high notes as you hyped him up
(yes, it hurt your ears. but you were just as bad just to make him hold his stomach, hunched over laughing and wheezing)
this time, you two fought to see who would get out of the car the fastest just because. you made a rule to wait until the driver completely stopped the vehicle at the beach’s frontier
“i don’t want you to die on our beach date, tenma!” you reasoned, seeing him internally malfunction from realizing it was really a date
(he agreed, like immediately)
(“you’re so right.” tenma said, like he wasn’t aware of his own actions and nodded very, very seriously)
“alright kids, we’re here—” the driver started before both of you immediately lunged for the car handle like 5–year–olds. screw the rules!
“last one to get out is a loser!” you yelled, trying to open the door before you felt your window hit something very tenma–like
“why?!” tenma yelled as he fell back onto the fence, pretending to pass away as he stuck his tongue out, laying his arm across his forehead
“leave me here... don’t look back... even though you’re a loser for getting out last.” he choked out, coughing for the dramatic effect. all he got was a kick in the shin
(“ow! will you do this when i get best lead actor?!”)
“come on winner, time to not embarrass me in public.” you joked, pulling him up by his jacket collar and—oh. you frowned, looking down at your own uniform
“tenma.” you said carefully, watching as he owlishly blinked up at you. this kid was seriously the embodiment of “no thoughts, head empty”
“yeah?”
“we’re still in our school clothes.”
tenma quickly grimanced, letting out a very loud “ew!” as he shook off his blazer and threw it behind him without thinking. it tumbled into the sand dunes, rolling away
“and that’s for making me feel stupid, school!” tenma yelled, standing proudly on top of the stone ledge as you slapped your forehead. this kid...
“tenma... you still need that for next year.”
(you two had to spend five minutes running after a blazer that seemed to have a mind of its own. tenma winced when he pulled it out of the ocean and it dripped with sea water. his parents weren’t gonna be happy)
(you didn’t have the heart to point out his wet pants as well)
you two came to an overpriced beach shack as you thumbed through hawaiian–themed dad shirts and revealing swimwear. you decided to choose something for tenma, finding the most questionable denim jacket that would fit tenma’s taste perfectly
you snuck behind him, about to give him the biggest scare of his life before you saw a flashy shirt in his hand. tenma seemed to have the most oblivious face ever, furrowing his eyebrows as he looked over the design
(he was holding two shirts and you realized it was in the couples’ section)
“would they like this? maybe i’m being gross...” tenma sighed, about to put the shirt back before you tapped his arm, holding the denim jacket in front of your face
“ta–da! we can match!” you cheered, knowing you would wear this very peculiar jacket if it meant tenma would be happy
(it did. his entire face lit up like it was christmas in july)
“yeah! i mean, yeah.” tenma lowered his voice, clearing his throat as he debated between showing the shirts before tossing one to you like it was the most coincidental thing in the world
“i mean, only because you want to.” tenma pretended like he didn’t care, but only looked away when you didn’t buy it
you shrugged, tucking the clothes under your arm as you gestured towards the mannequins wearing snapbacks
(tenma loved snapbacks)
“oh? you don’t want to? i thought maybe we could’ve gotten matching snapbacks but...” you were about to head to another display before he grabbed your shoulder, his eyes wide and face about to have a breakdown from admitting his own feelings
“don’t make me say it...” tenma begged, but you weren’t backing down, just smiled as he dramatically refused to say what he wanted and went to go retrieve two snapbacks without another word
you two went in opposite changing rooms and he came out first, smacking the beach hut door against the wall loudly as he struck a runway–worthy pose
he looked ridiculous. the denim jacket was luckily thin so it was breathable, the patches were just too loud and had so many out of date slang terms that were only popular in 60s america. the shirt was white with a neon rainbow palm tree with a wave and the snapback had a rim around it like a hula skirt. it was very fun in the sun
tenma was about to complain about how much he looked like an idiot and you had no fashion sense before you stepped out, and he was breathless
you looked just as dumb, maybe even more, but the fact you two were matching was enough for tenma
(tenma didn’t even say anything. he just stared, came back to his senses, and quickly shuffled to the cashier)
(he paid willingly. your jaw dropped. he didn’t even flinch when he heard the price)
you two strode out onto the sand confidently. seconds later tenma started hopping up and down
“why is the sand so hot?!” tenma yelped, forgetting he was wearing sandals in deep sand as repeated, “ouch. ouch. ouch.”
you sighed. he was such a big baby
you moved closer until you swept him over your shoulder, carrying him fireman–style with ease as you marched through the sand to an available umbrella the driver reserved in advance
tenma recovered from his moment of shock before he started smacking your back lightly, kicking his legs wildly
“let me down!!! i can walk!” tenma tried to roll off, but you just laughed. better this than hear him complain the entire walk over
you suddenly noticed the ocean that wasn’t very far away
you tried to walk normally to avoid suspicion, but tenma started connecting the dots when he saw the umbrella and towels in his view
why were you were going further away?
“hey, isn’t that—” tenma got cut off by a loud splash! as he quickly resurfaced, a defiant determination to his face for a split second before he faked a convincing frown
(you were doubled over losing your mind, unable to believe he fell for it)
“sunshine~ it’s so cold, help me!” tenma whined, reaching his arm out as he pretended to shiver. you paused, considering your options before you sighed (you definitely didn’t do it because of the endearment). you swam out a little more, putting your hand out. tenma grabbed your wrist with vengence
splash!
now both of you were in the ocean as you gasped in air, about to accuse him of tricking you before more water splashed in your face
tenma swam across from you, his snapback at the coast and denim jacket very heavy now
“tenma. stop.” you warned but more water hit your face, again
he watched you with a mischevious grin, you wanted to wipe the smirk right off his face
you smiled, moving in closer as tenma’s breath hitched, your lips just inches away before you dunked his head underwater
he pulled you with him, laughing even though he was supposed to use as little oxygen as possible
his hair floated around his head, the bright orange resembling coral and vivid purple eyes gleaming with childish euphoria
(you finally gave him the kiss he deserved when he made a heart with his hands)
(he made a surprised sound and bubbles floated out of his mouth when you pulled away)
(you literally made him speechless)
when you two came back to land, you insisted on drying tenma’s hair as he spluttered, unable to form intelligent words for the life of him
(you dried his hair with a crab towel, liking the way he sighed comfortably and leaned into your touch)
after settling down, you chilled out on the beach chairs with fresh coconuts
(tenma insisted he could crack one open. you didn’t bother telling him they already had holes in them)
lazing about on the beach, you two talked about how awful school was as you ate tropical fruit that came in the bag the driver took out from the back
(tenma denied ever planning a beach date, but you gave him the “really?” face when you held a beach ball up to him)
(he just shrugged, looking at his nails. “i love playing volleyball anywhere, what can i say?”)
it was so relaxing to spend the whole day on the beach! you went looking for seashells and tenma trailed behind you obediently, holding your pail out every time you excitedly yelled “look!” when you found something
(tenma didn’t get the hype, but he tried to match your energy)
tenma liked the sea glass though, proudly showing it off unprompted and believing 100% it came from a secret, undiscovered civilization like atlantis
(tenma must really not pay attention in school if he didn’t know about littering)
you two even had a sandcastle collecting competition! it was clear tenma didn’t know how to make one for the life of him, so you two worked together to create one
(he fantasized about mermaids. when you wrote your name and his at the base of the castle, he swore sirens were real when you sang off–tune a random melody while putting seashells on the sand)
later on in the day, you two were chatting about your plans for the summer as a seagull came up, staring at the bag of chips in your hand
tenma was about to point out the bird (he never noticed them before) before it snatched your chips, happily waddling away with its newfound treasure
before you could even react (or tell tenma this was normal), tenma used his athletic skill to absolutely outrun the seagull, yelling nonsense about rights to food as he nearly jumped onto the seagull
“tenma!” you called his name, wide–eyed as you watched tenma chase a singular seagull around the beach shouting profanities about giving back your chips. yep, that was your boyfriend
(at the end, tenma got them back even though most of them fell out when the seagull tried flying away. tenma caught the seagull with his two hands, holding it tightly as he shook it, demanding it released your chips)
(it didn’t, and tenma had to yank them from the seagull’s beak)
everything after that, went smoothly. definitely a lot more relaxing after witnessing your boyfriend almost fight a seagull in your honor
you guys even had a friendly game of volleyball at the beach’s public net, forcing his driver to be the referee that seemed to be in your favor
(“the ball was totally out!” tenma protested [it was] as you scored the point, leaping up to high–five the driver. stick it to the man!)
(you won with a landslide. you got a double popsicle as a prize, and you split it to offer tenma the other side. it made you smile seeing your favorite orange–haired boy with a popsicle that looked exactly like him)
time passes when you’re having fun! night began to settle in, as you yawned and rubbed your eyes tiredly. you were dozing off in the beach chair, trying your best to stay awake after a long day at school
“tenma, maybe we should go home?” you suggested before you heard two sticks being scraped together. oh no, tenma was up to something again
you weakly opened your eyes, seeing a very frustrated tenma trying to create a fire
“tenma?” you questioned, sitting up from the chair to see a bunch of sticks surrounding your boyfriend who looked just as confused as you were
“uh... i don’t know how to start a bonfire.” tenma admitted, rubbing the back of his neck as he stood up, kicking the sticks with no remorse
“that’s okay! we can just head back—” you started but tenma furiously shook his head, very opposed to the idea
“no! i mean... let’s stay a little longer, okay?” he offered no explanation as he tried again, but to no avail. you didn’t know what to do when he kept glancing at his watch and up at the sky
“ok, you know what.” tenma held your hand as he pulled you to the coastline, stopping as the water surrounded your ankles
you were about to ask if he was okay, before a boom! electrified the sky
it was summer, alright. colorful fireworks exploded before you out of no where as you couldn’t help but gape at the sight
(the timing was too convenient)
“you planned this... for me? why?” you were amazed by the fireworks show, wondering how many contacts tenma had to reach out to
your face was illuminated by every color possible, the fireworks reflected in your eyes as tenma stared, wondering how he got so lucky to share his first summer day with you
(tenma would have gotten you fireworks everyday if it meant you were this excited)
you were about to say something, anything to remember the moment before tenma squeezed your hand
“i like you so much.” tenma whispered, staring at the way you impulsively blushed, turning to look back into his eyes
tenma got on one knee
“oh my god...” you were shell–shocked. was tenma proposing? you guys were both still in high school, how would this affect his career? you were about to pull him up before he popped back up with a seashell between his fingers
“look! it’s a big one, too!” tenma shoved the sand dollar in your face. you blinked. and took it out of his hand, flabbergasted
“thank you.” you slowly said, trying to wrap your head around his denseness as he proudly rambled about how he was able to find such a cool seashell
“kidding.” tenma teased, giving you a thin ring with your birthstone in the middle. you froze, staring at the jewelery as he looked up at the sky, listening to the distant booms and wondered how many people were staring up at the same sky
(tenma sneaked a peek at your face. he knew he had the best view, though)
“i saw this and thought of you. maybe it can be our promise ring, to be together.” tenma’s words left his lips hesitantly, ignoring the one thing he wanted to finish with. he wanted to promise to be together, forever
you were about to respond, speechless from the romantic gesture before a rather large wave almost knocked you off balance
you let go of the ring and heard it drop into the ocean as you and tema stared at each other
“um. the promise is still on right?” you asked, nervously laughing as he looked back down at the ocean and up at you
“uh... this kinda ruined the moment, didn’t it?”
(you two bent down immediately, digging through the sand for the ring as the fireworks began to die down. as a firework blew up, tenma breathed a sigh of relief as the ring glinted in the orange light)
(he wouldn’t admit it, but it was very expensive)
he slipped it onto your pointer finger, admiring how your hands perfectly fit his. it was like he was born to be in the ocean with you, watching the summer night sky
tenma was about to say something about how he actually got the ring size right before you pulled him towards you, grabbing his god awful neon palm tree tee shirt. you kissed him under the glow of the last firework of the night
tenma squeezed your hand again, smiling into the kiss as you ran your thumb over the palm of his hand
(if mermaids weren’t real, they were super jealous of him right now, they had to)
(the most beautiful person alive had two legs and was walking on land, and was kissing him! out of all the people!)
you leaned back, savoring the moment as the stars shined above you in the deep blue sky
“sparklers?”
(tenma looked like he was having flashbacks)
“i really like you, but no.”
