I walked out of that theater even more in love with Captain Marvel and Bri Larson than I was before. Heh. And I am Iman Vellani’s biggest fan, and Kate Bishop is coming back and I am so excited for Kamala and Kate interactions

"The Best Cast/Ensemble Film"
The Breakfast Club (1985):
Tumblr media
It was great feat and spectacle back in the day to see the silver screen filled with your favorite movie stars - films like The Great Escape, The Towering Inferno, or It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World - heck the big cast ensemble films are still alive and tearing up the box office today (mainly in the superhero genre).
Most recent ensemble films jam pack their features with "A" list stars and it can be tightrope act of presenting a film that balances equal screentime, story arcs, and chemistry amongst its cast and still turn out a palatable film - the more balls we add to juggling act can intensify performance, but sometimes it can make it a muttled mess- just look at Marvel v DC and how both parties handle their characters.
I am not saying any or all of these movies are bad - I enjoy them immensely - but when we see the massive blockbusters where the spectacle is more the story and action it almost seems we could easily replace the actors portraying these bug roles - look at Terrance Howard in the first Iron Man movie, Rachelle Lefevre in the first Twilight movie, or hey, how about any of the Batmans or Spidermans that have been cast in the last two decades.
Hell, there is a horde of internet trolls currently who are clamoring to have Bri Larson ousted from The Captain Marvel title role to better fit a demographic.
There are entire YouTube channels and blogs dedicated to recasting superheroe movies.
To be honest, myself, I go to see the Iron Man suit and not so much Robert Downey Jr.

So, why I am I bagging on Marvel and DC?
I guess in a way to bring emphasis to the simplicity and purity of The Breakfast Club - the cast was relatively small and not quite well known names, but their collective performances launched them into Brat Pack stardom.
Just take a moment and attempt to recast The Breakfast Club....
You cant... Unthinkable...
You probably don't want to because the onscreen relationships formed an unbreakable bond that will be forever burned into your memory - You need Nelsen, Estevez, Sheedy, Ringwald, Hall and even Paul Gleason's Principal Richard Vernon to make that story work.
