so far in the hell apartment i live in:
- there’s an old vent from the victorian era when the house was originally built that leads to a disused chimney that is full of bats. i have had to get rabies shots due to a bat bite from when my old roommate’s cat caught a bat that wandered in
- the shower water was electrified at one point. not the shower faucet. the water itself. the landlord called a plumber and electrician and neither of them could figure out exactly what is going wrong so they regrounded some shit and said “¯\_(ツ)_/¯ good luck”
- the wood panel that they had to cut away from the shower to get at its innards is now blocking the bat hole, along with a shitty packing tape cover job that i put on there before the wood panel.
- there’s a decomp stain in the bathtub. i have tried everything to scrub it off more than it already has been but it is very much a stain so it’s not going anywhere. her name is susan and she’s our third roommate. she doesn’t do much and never bothers anybody so it’s fine.
- the city finally condemned the shed out behind the house, which is great because its so collapsed in some places that you can see through it to the back alley, and it’s full of rats because the rest of the block has been gutted and renovated since i moved in, so all of the local rats have been funneled into this damn shed. the local stray cats are a big fan of this, i am much less of a fan of it
- the electrical outlets keep breaking. last night i tried to use my blender and found that i couldn’t because the reset switch that controls the outlet i was trying to use was broken, like the spring mechanism had broken through the plastic button and out of the wall.
- the old dryer used to shriek constantly when in use. the new dryer worked for a couple of months but now the circuitry that makes the heating element work is fried so we can only use it to air dry shit, which takes all day. at least it doesn’t shriek though
