Whenever someone calls Charles Rowland straight, an angel dies.
What straight guy tells his best friend who just confessed to him that there's no one else – no one – he would go to Hell for. And that they have forever to figure out what that means. You don’t get his repressed bisexuality like I do!
Even modern bisexuals (I may or may not be speaking from personal experience) are oblivious to the fact they're bi because heteronormative roles are so engraved in our minds. When you're attracted to other genders, it's easy to miss a same-sex crush, only then to realise that oh, it wasn’t just admiration, it was attraction.
Charles, having grown up at the height of the AIDS crisis, with an abusive and probably homophobic father, killed by racist bullies? That would make anyone repress any gay feelings. Especially if you experience crushes on people with a different sex to you.
Charles sees Crystal and takes his chance. He's enamoured with this smart, strong-willed, pretty girl who can see him not only in a physical sense, but pays attention to him. He longs to be loved. Then he says the infamous "That sounds alot like you, doesn't it? Maybe that's why I like her so much" line. What an icon. And he compares himself and his best friend to the greatest love story of all time, Orpheus and Euridyce's.
When Edwin confesses to him, he doesn't rule out the possibility of returning these feelings. He knows they're already devoted to each other. They've already had 30 years of companionship and solving cases together.
"As long as I have my best mate and a case to solve, I'm good."
Being with Edwin is simple. They solve cases, help others, run away from Death. It's a simple existance. Charles gave up eternity to be with Edwin, because he was kind to him when he was dying. Charles finds him fun, wants to protect him, knows that Edwin is a kind and good person. One that Charles wants to be.
"Bad guys don't worry about being bad guys. And you, Charles Rowland, are the best person I know."
Crystal's role is very important in changing the dynamic between Edwin and Charles. Not only because Charles falls for her, but because she opens them up. She digs out their repressed feelings and trauma. Charles finally deals with his dad's abuse, his happy-go-lucky mask falls. She points it out to Edwin. Charles kept it up so well because Edwin didn't press it, but Crystal does. And Charles finally lets himself process what happened to him, and how that affects his relationships.
Charles never saw genuine love between his parents, and that affects how he views relationships. It impacts how he forms them, too. But he's a loverboy, he longs to be loved, he falls easily. Why wouldn’t he fall for someone who stuck to his side for 30 years?
Crystal and Monty's roles mirror each other – they help the boys figure out their feelings and desires. Crystal makes Edwin jealous that there's someone else Charles cares about in the same sense he cares for Edwin. The Cat King helps Edwin discover desire, Monty – genuine love. As Charles' and Crystal's relationship kickstarts (albeit ends as quickly) and Monty persues Edwin, he discovers the depth of his feelings.
"These complicated feelings that you have? They're for Charles."
I would love to see their wants explored more in the future season(s, hopefully multiple). Charles giving into desire with Desire of the Endless' guidance? Yes please.
I simply cannot believe that anyone would doubt Painland/Payneland endgame. They're everything to each other. They're a constant presence, reassurance, and love. Platonic, romantic, it doesn't matter. Their bond is so deep and genuine that immortal beings see it and leave them be, in the afterlife they chose for each other. Their love is so deep it transcends planes: from mortal plane to Hell, it leads Charles to Edwin. Charles is not Orpheus, when he turns around to hear Edwin out on the staircase from Hell, he manages to get him out. And they have literally forever for each other.

See You in the Morning, Coryo

The first time you met him you were 12. It was only your fourth day at the Capitol's Academy and you wished you could go home and bury yourself in your bed and never return. You had yet to meet anyone interested in being friends with you, the homeschooled freak who started oh so late compared to her peers. Sure, you had met Arachne and Festus at big lavish parties your parents threw but that didn't mean they liked you.
And then, on your fourth day of school, everything changes. Big blue eyes are fixated on the overly large sandwich and fruit bowl that had been in your lunch bag. A soft gurgle of a hungry stomach fills your ears and you turn to see a boy with the prettiest blonde curls atop his head staring at you.
"Do you want a piece? Our maid always packs too much and I can never finish it. You can have some if you want." You ask, picking up a strawberry and holding it out to him.
He hesitates for a moment but eventually reaches out and takes a small bite.
"Don't you have a lunch today?" You ask
"I already ate it." He said
Something inside you said he was lying and so you offered the rest of the fruit to him. Your sandwich would be enough for today, after all, no one should go hungry if another had something else to give.
You chat with the boy with blue eyes and pretty blonde curls. His name is Coriolanus Snow and he lives with his Grandma'am and his cousin. You smile at him as he eats the fruit, savoring the taste of the grapes that were mixed in. As you sit beside your new friend, you smile to yourself and hope he'll be your friend tomorrow too.
"You're not leaving. I won't let you."
Coriolanus knows how bad it sounds. He knows you're angry when you go to step around him and he blocks your path. Your engagement ring feels like a brick as it sits in his shirt pocket.
"Coryo. Move. I'm going home." You say, determined to get away from him.
Where do you think you're running off to? You have no place in society besides your spot next to him.
"You can't. You have to stay here. With me." He insists, hoping his softer tone will change your silly little mind.
"Please, Coriolanus. Just let me go home for tonight. I'll come back tomorrow. I promise." You whisper.
He hates that. Coriolanus. Why are you calling him that? He's always been Coryo to you why are you changing it now? The way his full name lingers in the air makes his blood boil.
Rage is something that's hard to control. Coriolanus has seen it first hand when the Districts rebelled against the Capitol all those years ago. He saw it Dr. Gaul when Lucy Gray survived her snakes thanks to him. He sees it now, in you as you give him a hard shove to his shoulders and begin moving toward the door.
Rage. That's why he does it. It's something he and so many others can't control. Rage. What a funny concept it is, how it causes someone to think so irrationally.
Truly though, you are to blame for it all. If only you had just talked to him rationally. taking off your ring and throwing a fit, demanding to go home like you're some petulant child who needs a nap.
Perhaps this will change your attitude, after all, you couldn't just run off, he needed you.
There's an ache in the back of your skull when you finally open your eyes. A soft blanket is covering you and the soft scent of apples and cinnamon is wafting through the air.
"This is your favorite, right?"
A voice that used to bring a smile to your face now sends a jolt of fear down your spine as you quickly sit up.
Coriolanus is sitting in a plush-looking chair, with your favorite candle burning on a little side table next to him.
What the hell had he done to you?
"You sat up too quickly. There's some painkillers on the nightstand if you want them." He says
His voice is so calm as you gradually take in your new surroundings.
"Where am I?" You croak, your voice sounds terrible.
"You're still in our mansion. This is the basement. Part of it anyway. Over the past two weeks, I got them to transform a section of it into a room perfect for you." He says, closing the book in his lap.
Weeks? How long had it been since that dinner when you tried to leave? What the hell had even happened? The last thing you clearly remember was shoving Coriolanus and beginning to walk away. Had he hit you with something? But then how did he keep you down for two weeks so he could bring you here?
"You're wondering what happened. I'm not proud of it but I hit you with a serving tray before you could leave."
Your mind briefly conjures up the silver trays that the food you often enjoyed was served on.
"I had a doctor give you injections to keep you asleep until this room was ready. The headache you feel is the hangover from the drugs, not a concussion. I made sure he gave you an exam and he's cleared you from any injuries."
Corionus' explanation is making your brain ache. What the fuck was happening? Why are you in a basement bedroom instead of your normal one? When was he going to let you out? Would he ever let you out?
Your stomach gurgles and you just barely make it to the small garbage can that's sitting on the ground next to the bed.
"Ah, the doctor said vomiting was another side effect. I'm sure it will pass soon." Coriolanus says, unbothered as you heave up whatever gunk he had gotten the doctor to pump into your stomach.
You wipe your face with the back of your hand, wishing for something to take away the burning at the back of your throat.
"Alright. Since you're awake now, I'll be leaving. Lots of meetings today and the arena is nearly ready I just have to approve a few more things." Coriolanus says, standing up and fixing his tie as he begins to walk away.
"Wait." You groan, trying to reach out to him
"I'll be back for dinner. I know how much you love to listen to me talk about my day."
Two months later
There's been a certain warmness about you recently. Perhaps it's the flowers he brought you your maybe the fact that he takes the heavy chain off your ankle when he visits you. He decides it's the latter as he watches thumb through the new books he handed you.
"Do you like them?" He asks
"Yes." You smile as you gently place them on your shelf.
You're so effortlessly pretty, even here, locked away from the sunlight and every inch of society. Here, you're all his, every bit of you hinges on him opening the heavy metal door that keeps you here. It's been so long since you had even tried to argue or fight back against him. Sure, the beginning had been rough, you had thrown things at him and had at one point threatened him with a butter knife but now you we so docile. Almost like he had domesticated a wild animal and now it was trained perfectly.
"Could you bring the little cakes tonight?" You ask
"The ones with the powdered sugar on top?"
You nod as you sit on your bed, stretching out your right ankle which is marked with a heavy bruise from the chain he had to put on you. It wasn't what he wanted but after you tried attacking him when he entered the room on the second day of your enclosure, he knew it was a necessity.
"I'll have the chef make extra. We can eat as many as you like and get fat." He teases
You smile at him but he can see something else behind your eyes.
Sadness.
You remind him of a bird with clipped wings. Freedom so effortlessly in reach but unable to fly to reach it.
If only he could trust you enough to let you back into the main floors of the mansion.
Time passes slowly whenever Coriolanus is gone and it gives you time to think. You were going mad, chained up all day, waiting for him to bring you your meals and sit with you at night. So in an effort to chase your impending insanity away, you thought. You thought about your childhood and if things would be different had you never given Coriolanus that stupid bowl of fruit. Perhaps you'd be head of your father's company now, or maybe you'd be married to some elite capitol man.
Your mind was always racing, overanalyzing every little thing and every little mistake you had ever made.
Perhaps you should've never confronted him about those pictures. If you had just slipped out of the mansion one day what would had happened? Maybe he would've caught you or perhaps you would've made it back to your parents, back to your old life and self.
How naive you had been at that gala years ago, thinking that you didn't need anything but Coriolanus. What a stupid girl you had grown up to be.
The past few weeks had been rough. You had been sucking up to Coriolanus to be let back into the main part of the mansion. You claimed to just want to feel sunlight again. Of course, you also planned on running the moment you had an opening but he didn't need to know that half.
Coriolanus was simply insane, it was a conclusion you had come to after all these long days. Maybe he had always been like this but you were just too blind to see it. Maybe his nice gestures and honey-coated words had disguised the monster that lurked behind those eyes. All you knew was that he was the worst man in all of Panem and here you sat, suffering all because you were his favorite.
"My heart burns for you."
What a load of bullshit.
He stays true to his word and arrives that night for dinner, cakes in hand. Silenced Avoxes serve you your food and Coriolanus sits across from you at the table that had mysteriously appeared one night when you were asleep. The chain on your ankle made an unpleasant sound as you shifted in your seat.
"The salmon is nice, isn't it?" Coriolanus asks as he eats
"Yes, it's wonderful. Very buttery." You say, struggling to find exactly what was good about it.
You didn't want salmon, you didn't really want anything anymore, perhaps you were finally giving into whatever game he was playing by keeping you here.
"I've decided to replace the curtains throughout the mansion. I've found the blue to be a bit ugly. Tomorrow there will be beautiful maroon ones hung." He informs you
You had hand-picked the blue ones, years ago.
"I'm sure they will be beautiful." You say looking down at your lap.
Coriolanus stops chewing and sets his silverware down.
"If you're going to mock me, you shouldn't even open your mouth. You know I hate it when you're full of attitude so why do you still try?" He says
It's a warning. You know it, he knows it.
"I know. I was being serious." You say, "I hope I get to see the maroon curtains soon, Coriolanus."
"Coryo." He corrects, placing a bite of food in his mouth
"Coryo." You parrot.
He smiles, pleased with you.
"You will, soon."
Dinner passes slowly as you finish your salmon to the tune of Coriolanus' talking. Something about the latest games being a wonderful success and that the big finale would be either tomorrow or the next. He suggests you watch on the little TV that sits in the corner, untouched, it was something that was added a week ago, specifically so you could watch the games. You promise to watch and he smiles at you again.
Coriolanus bids you goodnight after dessert. He double-checks your chain before straightening up and gently kissing your forehead.
"Goodnight, darling. I'll see you in the morning."
"See you in the morning, Coryo."
The past week had been going nearly perfectly for Coriolanus. Not only had the games been perfect, but you had been impressing him. Sure, a few days ago at dinner you had called him Coriolanus and he nearly lost his cool after he thought you insulted the curtains but that was behind him now.
He had finally concluded that he'd release you from the basement. He missed your presence in the mansion and at the normal dinner table. He wasn't quite sure about letting you have full roam yet, perhaps he'd sedate you during the days and let you walk around at night, when he could personally keep an eye on you before bedtime. The idea of one of the Axoxes watching you didn't sit right, after all, if you ran what would they do? They couldn't even shout for help to bring you back inside.
He was positively giddy as he walked down the many flights of steps that led to where you were. He wanted to show you the greenhouse first. Sure, you had seen it before but the way the roses were blooming recently was simply too good to pass up. He had planted new ones recently too, blushing pink ones that reminded him of you and your warmness to him.
The metal door was cool against his palm as he opened it to reveal your darkened room. The door let out a heavy groan as it shut behind him.
It wasn't uncommon for you to be sleeping when he entered, he often visited during the night and would watch you, as if you were going to disappear. However, this time the darkness confused him. It was the middle of the day, surely you weren't still asleep?
The soft clink of that ridiculous chain filled his ears as he stepped towards the lamp that sat on your shelf.
"Are you hiding from me, darling?" He asked into the darkness, ready to scoop you up and hold you close.
Silence answered his question as his eyes tried to focus on anything.
The softest rustle of fabric fills his ears as he quickly turns to his right. The slightest shimmer of color reaches his eyes, illuminated by what little light wormed its way under the door. It's you, in that sweater you often wore.
"I see you." He says reaching out to what he thinks might be your arm. "What a pretty shade of blue that is. I'll have a designer make a dress in that color for you."
He swears he hears you whisper his name but perhaps it was just in his head as he steps forward.
Coriolanus feels the smile that was on his face drop into his stomach when he hears it again, the rustle of fabric. You were behind him now.
His hands twitch one, then twice, and before he can react, you're there, in front of him again, anger polluting your pretty face.
His lips form your name but it never leaves his mouth. Instead, the cool metal of that chain he had intended on removing was cutting his vocal cords off.
The chain he hated putting on you, the chain you had desperately tried to claw off many times as he watched through a grainy video feed was rapidly wrapping its way around his neck, ready to destroy him.

+ nagi seishiro x f!reader | wc 3.2k | content: fluff, ngl i was too lazy to proof this, childhood friends to lovers, canon-compliant (i tried), yn’s parents are just bad
notes: me ?? writing someone other than sae ?? wild . but it’s my first try at nagi so pls have mercy :’) feedbacks/reblogs appreciated !! <3
summary: it’s a little more difficult for nagi to realise his feelings compared to the average man.
i. fleeting moment
nagi seishiro was your first kiss, age ten on the swings of your backyard.
you’re only friends by chance. he was a loner on the swings in the public playground and you have a habit of picking up strays. (but until then, it had been limited to animals and not humans.)
yeah, yeah, maybe having a first kiss at the young age of ten is a little alarming, but it’s not like nagi is a bad person. if anything, he was just trying to shut you up. probably, maybe. (and it wasn’t with tongue, if anyone needs the specifics.)
“if you keep crying that loudly i won’t be able to hear my game,” nagi grumbled, eyes glued to his screen. apparently he was playing some pseudo horror game where four fighters run from a single hunter and apparently he needed to listen to the sounds to know when to run.
but really, you were ten and crying because some other boy bullied you in the playground, saying how you were so ugly and that no boy would ever wanna kiss you. given all of that, why would you even care about nagi’s stupid game?
if he didn’t want to be bothered, he shouldn’t have chased you all the way back home.
“but seishiro, am i really ugly?” you were ten and in need of immediate validation while nagi was in need of your immediate silence.
he didn’t even look up. “that’s subjective.”
even when he was young he had a smart mouth that would be able to break you.
“well then what do you think?” because honestly, even at that point, you thought nagi seishiro was handsome; he was the face claim you used to imagine all your scenarios at night before you went to sleep.
he was your knight in shining armor, coming to break you free from the cage which was your life and obligations. he was your prince charming who’d rescue you above all else. heck, sometimes he was mario and you were princess peach.
seishiro groaned when the screen shows game over and honestly, he really did think it was all your fault because he couldn’t hear anything over your incessant wailing. but then he looked at you for the first time after you cried and had the recurring thought that he didn’t want to be the reason for you to keep on crying.
“yeah, you’re pretty.”
and he puts his lips on yours like it’s no big deal.
ii. unreciprocated
fifteen is when you’re most rebellious. it’s a sickness you get from none other than mikage reo.
your family and the mikages go way back. they’d been family friends for such a long time. a part of you feels it’s not genuine, blinded by the fact that they’re always business partners and everything else stemmed from that one simple fact.
you started to play hooky from business dinners, started to say fuck off to rude old geasers who truly didn’t deserve a single dime they got.
all you ever got in return was your father’s temper and your mother’s cowardice and reo’s praises. most of all you at least had nagi’s shoulder to cry on. (he’s learned to bring along his earpiece just in case he had to meet you or accidentally bumped into you.)
“they all sicken me,” was what reo told you when you asked about his family in relation to their business. you could sympathise. sometimes all you could feel from your parents were that they treated you as a next-in-line rather than just daughter. and almost everyone around you made you feel like you were just a moneybag.
what reo felt shouldn’t have been too far off. except you thought he had it better; at least all his parents did was try to spoil him while not-so-subtly training him up to be the next ceo. he at least didn’t suffer at the hands of foul tempers and verbal abuse.
no one should have to.
“oh shit! i gotta go soon,” you realised, noticing that it was almost six and you’d made plans with nagi.
reo cocked a brow, “y/n l/n, you have other friends?”
you knew he was joking, but that didn’t stop you from landing the hardest punch you could on his arms. “hey, i’m not that inept at socialising okay?”
sure, you’d started taking caution with making friends because most of them were just after one thing: money. even at this age. which is crazy to you, at least, but you felt you had no right to think that. not when all the money you wanted was still at your disposal.
but you weren’t actually bad at making friends. it was just that maybe most people weren’t even worth the effort.
“they’re good to you, right?”
you took a moment to decide before you eventually nodded. “yeah, for sure.”
nagi was… weird, for you. but in the good sense. yeah, he’d open his mouth and ask you for money which at least told you he was honest. even if you rejected him, though, he was still beside you.
“man, what a hassle,” he grumbled when you wouldn’t buy any more food. he was broke, which meant he couldn’t eat anymore too if you didn’t buy some.
the two of you still never talked about that kiss. it never happened again, to your dismay.
you were a teen, and screw stupid teen hormones for driving you to ask him.
“hey sei, we’re good friends, right?”
“huh?” nagi was already fixated on his phone. probably some new game you didn’t know about. his earpieces were ready, around his neck. “uh, i guess?”
but that was not good enough for your feisty fifteen-year-old self.
“sei, i’m serious! would you be sad if one day we weren’t friends anymore?”
back then you didn’t know what you were doing. back then you didn’t think to yourself what it was, really, that you were trying to get out of him. maybe it was validation, and maybe it was just boredom.
you really just wanted to know nagi cared.
all he did was shrug, brows furrowed in annoyance. “that’s life, isn’t it? sometimes friends drift and sometimes they don’t.”
throwing wisdom around as if that was what you needed. and it was unfair to expect anything out of nagi as it was, but that didn’t stop you from throwing a tantrum and storming off.
(he watched you as you left, and there was something unsettling about the sight of your back moving so far away.)
iii. turning point
the world is small.
when you were sixteen you realised that the so called treasure reo told you he found was a human, who so happened to be your friend—nagi seishiro.
teeny tiny.
they also both happened to be picked by the JFU to go to blue lock. which you only found out after they’d both been gone for a week.
it didn’t surprise you though—they were both talented. it was only right they got picked. though, they also happened to be the only two people you would hang out with, so by default you felt lonely.
but at sixteen you’d learned to suck it up, hide your feelings. everything was okay—as long as you deceived yourself so. your parents were the same; overbearing and breathing down your neck and now that reo was not around for you and nagi couldn’t be your confidant, it felt much worse than usual.
everything was a transaction and you felt suffocated. it made you appreciate nagi’s unfiltered honesty and reo’s unwavering loyalty to whatever you dedicated yourself to.
“at least that reo boy has some other talents like that foolish soccer he plays,” your father berated over dinner. “and here my daughter is, good for nothing yet expects us to believe her when she says she can make a living outside of our company.”
and if you’d had other close friends, they would’ve told you that sixteen was too young to be sure what you wanted to do for the rest of your life. they’d have said your parents were unreasonable and that they were the fools.
but you didn’t. and the only friends you had weren’t around. so you ate it up. you clenched your fists where your parents couldn’t see and let them run their mouth. or, in your mother’s case, stay silent while your father made unreasonable arguments.
“and that nagi boy you hang out with,” your father turned his focus to him, “all he reeks of is laziness. i don’t get why you have to hang out with him all the time. inviting that oaf into our house like he’s welcome.”
that time your fists hit the table and you didn’t even expect it. it hurt because of how hard you hit but nothing could beat the hurt your father inflicted on your heart.
you found you couldn’t say anything, only because your father’s eyes were wide with rage at your outburst and you were still the same scared girl inside at age four when he first raised his voice at you.
“i-i’m sorry,” you choked out, which was pathetic but you didn’t want to end up murdered in your own house.
your father scoffed. “get your stupid head out of your ass or you’re cut off.”
the only time you could do that was when nagi and reo finally got their first break out of blue lock. you occupied their time for the most of it, listened to them going on and on about the matches that went on inside. though reo seemed a little mad at nagi, a little awkward around him, for some reason you weren’t privy to.
“i’m gonna head home first,” and reo was gone with the wave of a hand, something about having to settle something at home—probably nothing good.
maybe it was the lovestruck idiot in you talking, but you’d made peace with the fact that maybe you had a small crush on nagi seishiro, judging by how you acted around him. maybe it was that idiot that made you want to spend all of his free time together.
“guess i’ll see you tomorrow too?” sue you, you were just trying to shoot your shot.
nagi put his phone in his pocket, for once, and you were struggling to remain standing as he held eye contact with you, calm gray eyes the bane of your existence. “mmm can’t, gotta meet isagi and the rest.”
isagi, a name you’d just learned earlier—apparently nagi thought he was strong and chose his team. maybe that was why reo was mad.
“oh, okay then.” you’d ask for the next day, but you didn’t want to get rejected twice. besides, nagi would probably just prefer playing games and resting at home. you were just friends, after all.
“was thinking we could get dinner though,” nagi told you, hands in his pockets as the both of you walked down the street.
that was the first time he ever extended an effort, you remember. and suddenly life wasn’t that bad anymore.
it was also the first time nagi asked you to feed him, not because he was playing some game but on purpose.
and you didn’t know how it turned out that way, but he ended up taking up all of your time. it was the only reason you had the ability to fill him in on your family, and he actually listened. and, like reo, he said “fuck them.”
maybe that was the point you realised maybe he did care.
but for a girl at seventeen just concerned with romance and happiness, it was paradise—until of course he went back to blue lock, taking your heart with him.
(what you both failed to realise was that he left his with you.)
iv. slow realisation
in the bleachers of his first match out of blue lock, nagi seishiro spots you easily in the front row—wearing his jersey and number, when did you buy that?
doesn’t change the fact that nagi likes seeing it on you. he’s not familiar with the feeling, but it’s equivalent to saying you like him the most, which feels great if he’s honest to himself.
what he doesn’t like is the guy next to you. sharp jawline and spiky hair wearing a business suit and his raven eyes are always peeking at you out of the corner. does he like you?
but the whistle blows and nagi forgets about you for a little over ninety minutes. he’s going to show you he can win this, with you watching from the front row, and he’ll show you why he’s the best and that other guys in business suits don’t matter.
after the game reo makes a big deal out of the fact you’re wearing nagi’s jersey and not his, and nagi finds out the guy with you was someone your dad wanted to hook you up with.
twisted business marriages.
“i’m just going out with him to shut my father up,” you admit to nagi when you’re both finally alone. (aka, after you’ve convinced reo to pry him away and leave you two alone.)
nagi’s not used to this. what’s this relief he feels? “oh, good to know,” is all he says because he doesn’t even understand himself.
he isn’t even sure why he’s here in the first place, walking you home. he’s not sure why reo left when he could’ve driven all of you home instead of just mr business-suit-guy.
“how’s it feel now, to be mr popular?” you’re not even sure why you’re asking. maybe because you feel like the gap between you and nagi grew so wide in such a short period of time and you’d do anything to hear him say that he’s still the same seishiro you knew.
your seishiro.
nagi only shrugs, “dunno. don’t really feel the difference.”
because really, apart from the fact that he’s much more busy, he’s still him—playing games when he’s free, texting you because that happens to fall in the list of things he likes to do now, and well, the only difference he feels is—he takes a peek to his side—you, somehow.
not because of anything you do in particular, but he feels different somehow. and he can’t make sense of it. he never can. how’s he supposed to? no one ever warned him about shit like this.
“uh, nagi? have you ever thought that maybe you like her?” reo tells him over the phone later that night, a little baffled by the things his usually detached friend just told him.
“you like her too though,” nagi retorts.
reo sighs, wondering how nagi ever made it to where he is. “not in the same way.”
“what do you mean?”
“figure it out yourself.”
nagi hangs up, thinking he already has it figured out. he also thinks reo will keep his mouth shut.
he doesn’t.
v. requited
it’s funny how reo rushed to call you that night, right after nagi basically told him (without saying it explicitly) that he has a crush on you.
but it’s also funny how it’s been three months since then and nagi still hasn’t said anything about it. you play ignorant around him, waiting and waiting for him to admit it himself.
evidently it’s not working.
tonight you’re just watching him on the screen, cheering him on from the other side of the world because despite being from a rich family you can’t just up and leave to another country as and when you feel like it.
besides, you’ve made peace with your parents; you’d learn about the family business willingly as long as they stopped interfering with your personal life. they surprisingly agreed.
nagi and reo win, as you expected, and as usual, the cameras trail their team as they celebrate on the field, their captain having tore his shirt off to celebrate that they’d won the tournament. it’s not long before the camera pans back to nagi, a few reporters already surrounding him.
“so nagi, how do you feel right now?”
“great,” he answers, with a sexy amount of enthusiasm. he’s rarely ever enthused, but you find it so much more attractive when he is.
nagi has his phone in his hand, you notice, and you immediately fish for yours. he’d texted you right before they started hounding him.
are you watching?
you smile as you type back.
no. congrats on becoming champions! 🫶🏼
“nagi nagi, who would you like to dedicate this win to?” the reporters are all clambering to get a chance to question him.
“oh i don’t know,” nagi says, and you catch him looking at your message before looking back at the camera. “i guess i’ll dedicate this one to this girl i like.”
you nearly spit out your drink.
“wait, does this mean you’re involved with someone? tell us, who is it!”
all the reporters get excited, and understandably, since nagi’s probably just about given them the biggest scoop for the month. they’re all looking at him, money signs in their eyes, while your jaw drops open as he overshares with the entire world.
“oh, y/n l/n, she’s been my friend since forever and i don’t know… i kinda like her a lot,” he’s saying all this earnestly, a hand scratching his neck and a blush creeping on his face, though he doesn’t look the least bit fazed.
you rush to find his chat thread.
nagi, what the fuck!!!
you did NOT just say my name on live tv!!!
on the screen, he openly looks at your messages before typing a reply as the reporters hound him for more details.
oh shit, m i not supposed to?
“nagi, is she the one texting you right now?”
and like the honest guy he is, he nods. “oh yeah, think she’s mad at me right now.”
you curl up under your blanket, flustered because nagi is way too open and way too precious.
“would you like to say anything here to her now?”
nagi looks off camera and hums in contemplation before finally deciding on a response.
“hey y/n, tomorrow i’m gonna make you mine okay? so just wait for me.”
reo finally drags him away and towards the rest of his team and his interview ends there. you switch the television off, half mortified and half flattered. your phone blows up with most of your contacts gushing over what nagi said.
leave it up to nagi seishiro to have feelings for you, not realise it until years later, not tell you in the whole three months before this and yet announces it and your full name to the entire world on live television.
in spite of how flabbergasted you are, there’s a warm sensation blooming underneath your chest, a comfort that you’ve always been looking for finally fulfilled. there’s a certain endearment in the way nagi realises and professes his feelings.
you pull up his messages again.
you better keep your word, sei.
it doesn’t take him long to respond.
don’t worry, i’ll make you mine.

ab. you and wally were inseparable. bared souls to each other but still dancing around the fact of feelings for each other but one night he gathers the courage to tell you how he feels, things don’t go the way he plans and spirals out of control.
1984.
the soft ringing of a phone rouses you awake, your room dark and cool from the gentle breeze coming through the crack in your window. you rub the drowsiness from your eyes before sitting up. glancing at your clock, beside it is the soft yellow landline that rings, a light but repetitive tone. the red glowing numbers reading 11:51 almost made you regret waking up to pick up the phone but the constant ringing means the caller must be persistent to get ahold of you. clearing your throat you pick up the phone, a soft hello emitting from your lips.
“hey sweetheart” you recognize the voice almost immediately, wally clark your best friend since middle school. you two are inseparable, always attached to the hip and despite his reputation, how popular he was. he never let it hinder your relationship. he always joked that you two were high school sweethearts minus the dating part which also always confused people when you had told them you were just friends but your heart hopes, yearns for more.
“hey, did something happen?” there must’ve been a reason why he called you in the first place but he quickly denies:
“oh-oh no, everything is going well… sorry did i wake you?” his voice comes out rushed, as if he’s trying to speed up the conversation. the tone confuses you but you continue.
“not really, i was just trying to fall asleep.” you softly respond. fiddling with the cord, telling him a small white lie but if there was something about wally was that you never wanted him to feel bad at your expense, always saving him the tinge of guilt that affects him more than you thought. he was a soft soul, sensitive but resilient. one of the things that make you more drawn to him. he was someone who made you feel like you had a purpose in life.
“i, i uhm was wondering if you wanted to go for a drive. i-if not thats totally okay!” you can practically hear himself rubbing his neck. a constant habit he had when he was emmbarrased or unsure. you agree almost immediately. hearing the smile plastered on his face, he boasts about having the car for the night so it was the perfect time to make use of it. he promises he’ll come to get you in a few minutes so you rush to get dressed in warmer clothing compared to your sleep wear. as you wait for him, you couldn’t help but feel curious as to why he wanted to take you out at such a late hour. sure he didn’t get the car to himself often but from his tone you couldn’t help but feel something off. ultimately your mind settles on the fact that he just felt spontaneous and just wanted to spend time with your, knowing how the school year just began and he has been busy with the football team and his parents breathing down his neck, so maybe he needed an escape.
minutes pass and you hear the closing of a car door, then rounds of rubble as if someones walking down the side walk. you don’t know how but every time wally comes around, no matter what the sounds are- you always know it’s him and when you confessed this little sense of yours when he let out a boisterous laugh and told you “you have a little part of me then sweetheart.” that made your heart melt. excited, you softly pad down your steps and open the door before he can even let himself in. you had unlocked the door minutes prior to ensure a silent arrival. wally stands still for a few moments. his gaze focusing on your face, your cheeks blush as moments pass and his movement doesn’t change
“uh, earth to wally?” snapping your fingers in front of him, the taller boy jumps back in surprised wondering how you got there so fast, and how you look so effortlessly beautiful at midnight “done gawking yet clark?” laughing, sounding beautiful to his ears he looks away smiling shyly his hand coming up to rub the back of his neck, a repeating his habit. “so where are we going?”becoming the most talkative already, in return there is no response. which is odd coming from you usually commentary filled best friend.
“no hi, how are you? do you not miss me?” lightly shoving his shoulder. you divert the subject to where he could be taking you, the cold air making you shiver as you wait for his response. but instead of giving you one he just leads you to his car across the street, no words exchanged. huffing at the lack of communication you follow him across the street (looking both ways before you cross of course)
the drive to the park is quiet— comfortable silence with the silent play of music fill the air as he drives, you look out the window to stare at the beautiful landscape of the city since wally gives no other form of entertainment to pass time. trying so hard not to stare at him as he drives, you don’t notice obviously since you’re not looking his way but there’s a line of sweat collecting on wally’s hairline but even if you saw you would shrug it off blaming it on his hoodie but no, wally was sweating for a completely different reason. he’s about to change your relationship forever. well, not forever but the outcome can go of two ways, good or bad; with no in-between.
wally clark is going to confess his undying love for you and he feels like he’s gonna throw up from how nervous he is. he didn’t even greet you, that’s how tense he’s feeling he couldn’t even form any coherent word when he saw you, hair ruffled laying in bed with sleepy eyes. it was an image that he wants tattooed on his forehead, dead serious. luckily you didn’t notice how nervous he is because you usually can read him very well additionally, you haven’t asked him anything so he’s relieved to see that nothing he’s done has gotten on your radar yet. well, he didn’t greet you when he picked you up but you just shrugged it off, not thinking to much of it. passing it as oncoming sleepiness from staying up. the ride was filled mostly silence and was also accompanied by mark or your occasion humming, soon you arrive at the park which you immediately recognize as the one where you first met wally, on the swing set late at night when his parent became overbearing. you follow wally out of the car and up a path to a grassy hill out looking the neighborhood and beautiful night sky. he takes a seat and you follow after him, sitting next to him with little space between the two of you.
the scene is quite picturesque, wally wishes he brought his polaroid as he looks up at the stars hoping they’ll talk back to him, talk him out of it or something— maybe some encouragement because he’s been hyping himself up for this moment for so long, okay just for three hours but leading up to this moment he felt like time was moving so slow. the two of you just sit in silence for a while looking at the beautiful night sky until wally speaks up.
“i have something to tell you.” he starts, his voice slightly wavering. you turn immediately to look at him as this is the first thing he’s said to you since he picked you up, a sour feeling rests in your stomach as you process what he said, in fear of hearing what he actually he has to say, you try to figure it out yourself. which you’ll find out yourself was not the greatest idea. sitting up straight you look directly at him with a hand on his shoulder.
“wait don’t tell me, you’re moving? you got early acceptance to ohio state? if so and you’re only telling me now i’m going to murd— or no have you gotten yourself a girlfriend because god knows you nee—“wally shakes his head barely scoffing a laugh.
“no, that is not what i’m gonna tell you! now can you please stop talking? i practiced in front of my mirror for this.” practicing in-front the mirror for what? you tilt your head confused, but turn it upright immediately when another thought comes to mind.
“are you going to show me that stupid dances you’ve been learning because—“
“no! y/n let me say what i need to say before i vomit on your shoes.”
“hold on wha—“
“oh my god y/n! i like you! okay! i like you. god i asked you to not talk and yet you did.”
your heart drops and the sour feeling only heightens. wally on the other hand is frustrated and embarrassed because of your interruptions and his sudden outburst to you. it was uncalled for, he knows. high on his emotions the quarterback stands up from his spot and starts walking down the hill, ruffling his hair in frustration. cheeks red from both embarrassment and the cold. can’t believe you just confessed to her like that! horrible wally clark. now she’s not gonna even want to accept your confession. ‘vomit on your shoes’ what kind of line is that? seriously.
he groans, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he continues down the path. not even bothered to see if you’re following him, he probably just ruined your friendship for life. he’s never going to let himself live this down.
wally is mad at himself, not even you, he’s only a tad bit mad at you for you cutting him off but he’s more mad at himself— he shouldn’t have beaten around the bush, should’ve just told you there and then not have any cheesy climax to it; would’ve gotten it over with quickly. you watch wally walk off while you stay planted in your seat. still processing what happened. wait, wally clark just confessed to you, the man you’ve unknowingly devoted yourself for just confessed and you were interrupting him! what are you doing go after him! y/n go! you scramble from your spot. feeling guilty for cutting him off, you probably sent his confidence down the hill with him. god you felt horrible. “wally! wait!” you call from behind him almost tripping from the decline of the hill but with sportsmen instincts he catches you by your arm. “wally, oh my god. i’m sorry for cutting you off— i’m such a jerk for that.”you say as you pant for breath, your heart racing. you look at his side profile and he’s avoiding your gaze completely, moving his head to look to the side you’re not on. “it’s alright, let me just take you home.” a breath leaves you, take you home? that was the last thing you wanted right now “wally i—“ he cuts you off like you did to him earlier “y/n really, i accept your apology. let me— let me just take you home please.” he is dying from embarrassment at this point, might as well put him out of his misery. “but–“ you start while wally let’s out a hefty sigh and inhales harshly from his nose, rubbing the side of it with his thumb. “y/n can we just forget this all happened? it’s really late i’ll just get you home before anyone realizes your gone.” his tone is distant and really pulls at your heart strings, you didn’t want to forget about this, well some parts of it you wanted to remember like him confessing to you! but you didn’t mean to make him upset; he probably is thinking the worse right now and it’s all because of you, it’s all your fault.
you don’t say another word as you nod when wally briefly glances at you, his light touch on your arm leaves as he continues his walk to the car park. you follow behind quietly, guilt eating you up as you look at wally posture slump as he walks, he’s head hung low. looking small— all because of you.
the drive back to your house was even worse, it was quiet. no music no humming, nothing. just silence— you wanted to say something make it right again but you were afraid to worsen his mood more than you’ve already done. no farewells are exchanged when wally arrives in front of your home, he wanted to say something, anything but he just let the opportunity pass. although, just as you’re about to close the door, he murmurs a soft good night that you wish he could tell you looking in your eyes but instead his eyes stay downcast on the steering wheel. he doesn’t leave right away, he waits until you’re safely inside your house and then some more. he throws his head back wallowing in his emotions, he wished the earth would just swallow him up. when you get into your room, you peak through your blinds and see that wally is still there, you watch as he sits there, eyes closed and head back then he hits the wheel of his car a few times eliciting a gasp from you, feeling more guilty. eventually watching him depart from your street.
wally clark was avoiding you, you knew that much. after what happened that night wally began acting like you didn’t exist– as if you weren’t his best friend; as if he didn’t confess his feelings for you— which you’ve been thinking about for the last few days. it hurts, that wally’s acting so distant. he’s been hanging out with his jock friends— but you can tell his mood isn’t the same. usually preppy and extraverted, practices consuming his time and plans that pop out of thin air that keeps him busy so he doesn’t have to think about what happened with you, to distract him. you’ve tried calling him but it’s all been sent to voicemail or his mother ends up answering the phone, you could tell but it hasn’t been to easy for wally either. he feels like a dick for being this way after what happened but he’s just not ready to face you— face you’re rejection, face the embarrassment, face the spot in his heart for you that he now has to make disappear. he’s just not ready.
this whole wally avoiding you thing has gone longer than you both had expected— you, you were counting the days until wally spoke to you again and honestly you are becoming more concerned with how this is dragging out. you miss your best friend for goddess sake! you miss his corny jokes, his contagious laughter, his habit of running his hands through his had, how excited he gets when he see’s dogs on the street. you just miss him... you miss everything about him, your constant now gone. unfortunately you never end up getting the time to talk to him and by now its been months, now the homecoming game you plan on talking to him after the game. no excuses, no if, ands or buts can interfere with the dire need of bringing him back to you.
the chilly air nips at your cheeks as you stand in the bleachers watching the game. you were never a sports fan especially for football but when your best friend’s whole personality is devoting himself to the sport— not even for him but for his family, you had no choice but getting yourself used to the sport. you went to every game, however far it was you went. distance didn’t hinder your support for him. the game feels aching long and the constant cheering from both schools make it hard for you to focus, you just wanted things to be okay with him. you didn’t want to keep this cold war between the two of you.
now in the second half, you watch from the stands as wally takes a seat onto the metal bench. his mother right behind him. the conversation must be tense because as soon as the finish speaking. he’s up on his feet again. your chest tightening at the thought of how much pressure he’s under right now. you hold your breath as you watch wally catch the ball, running towards the the five yard line when a linebacker runs straight into him, tackling him— wally breaking his fall. you let out a shuttering breath as you watch him, your best friend lie there on the field and it feels as if time stops; you stand on the bleachers in disbelief. praying to some higher up that he’s okay and just being dramatic before getting up like he always does… but that never happens. all air is taken from your chest as you dreadfully walk down the bleachers, hoping this was some sick dream you were bound to wake up from. clamors of terror and commotion fill the stadium as the beloved football player is declared dead on the field. tears are streaming down your face, watching his body being carried in a black body bag that he would’ve joked about it being a tacky way of being taken out.. but theres no room for that you’ve never felt so empty, so helpless as you do in this moment. now never being able to accept is confession, apologize, make a amends. there was no future for you without him.
all wally can see is black, a dark abyss that consumes his vision as he feels weightless, as if he isn’t in his body. an out of body experience that he hopes to recover from. that he’s just in a coma and he’ll be reunited with you and tell you all the things he didn’t get to tell you sooner. his mind is consumed by the thought of you, even before the accident he wanted to see you, talk to you, hold you in his arms but when he opens his eyes he’s greeted by the bright lights of the football field. being completely alone in the stadium. still in his uniform. he sits up dazed and confused. he feels fine, if anything he feels like a whole new person as if he’s been given a second chance in living but what he’ll soon to find out, its not in the way he thinks. he feels a bit light headed as he stands and his eyes immediately landing on a figure when he had thought he was alone. he shouts to get their attention to no avail, confused; he continues to shout walking closer to them. as he gets closer he realizes it’s you with your head in your hands and yours shoulders shaking as you wail to your hearts content. he calls out to you, at first soft but then more desperate as you don’t hear him. he feels frustrated as tears of his own stream down his face.
he cries “yn, sweetheart please, please.” his chest tightening at the sounds of your crying. pleading, begging. a mantra repeating under his breath. he doesn’t want this to be it, to be over for him, for you. he can’t lose you. he doesn’t know where he is, how he got here and he especially doesn’t understand why you can’t hear or see him. if this what death is like he thinks he landed in hell.
wally doesn’t notice the man standing by the entrance. the man that he’ll soon find out is a guide into understanding what exactly is happening and coming to terms with the fact that he’s dead and will never be able to live the life he wanted with you. instead he’ll watch you grow without him as he’ll stay forever eighteen.
‘wallowing wally’ is the nickname rhonda had come up for him. jason chides rhonda for picking on the mourning boy but she insists it was to lighten the mood, the outcome being the complete opposite. when he was first introduced to the group he was quiet, timid, distant. the others understood the feelings and recent thoughts about the afterlife at split river and had assumed he would grow out of it. but no, it continues and rhonda’s continuous jokes about his behavior being the complete opposite to the boisterous quarterback he once was— but that guy since died along with his corpse. he’s now just a shell of who he was.
it was hard for him to watch you at first, he didn’t see you for weeks after his death but when you finally came back to school. you were an entirely different person; you looked paler, bags under your eyes, lifeless as you walked down the halls with soft murmurs about your appearance as you walk by. his heart shatters into pieces watching you, sitting alone during breaks. staring into space during class completely dissociative during class. you distanced yourself from your peers and never responded when someone gave you condolences about your best friend, just nodding then walking away. your were mourning the death of him and he couldn’t handle watching it. you’re hurting at his expense and it’s breaking his already shattered heart that can’t be mended.
so he distanced himself from you. like he did at the end of his life, he couldn’t bare to see you hurt so he spent most of his days on the rooftop. only coming down for snacks or to catch up with the others but then back at his spot. never going to group because he didn’t want to talk about it. how a little of guilt sits in him everyday watching you mourn for him. days blur by and eventually wally extends to the stadium— he’s bitter, yes that he died during a game, without a fight but it was easier for him to get over compared to you. he will never get over you. he takes his time walking onto the field, closer he sees the memorial left for him. his picture surrounded by candles, flowers, notes and other things left by other students. he’s consumed by the notes and messages his peers left him that he doesn’t realize jason joining him.
“wally” he calls, the boy turns with his hands shoved in his varsity jacket. looking over at the latter with a questioning look. watching the male with his hand over his face shielding him from the sun.
“there’s something i think you wanna see.” as much as he doesn’t want to follow jason or be lead into his trap of being forced into group he couldn’t help the feeling of interest that fills him. as expected they’re towards the gym and as wally is about to protest jason interjects with strong statements about something being there for him. for the first time wally feels hopeful, that something happened— miraculously. he follows jason into the gym. the sight of the circle of chairs in the corner of the gym prominent in his vision but now he sees an extra person taking up another seat. he wasn’t aware that another death had happened at the school and if there was he would’ve been there. heard the sounds of death within the walls. he gets closer and closer, expectant of what jason kept hyping him up about. he’s about to inquire what it is when his eyes land on you. sitting in his seat, he stares at you in disbelief. you dont notice him at first and he takes is as a time to take up you appearance. one that he hasn’t seen in a while.
you look healthier, definitely healing from the homecoming game. you’re wearing a stripped sweater he had lent you, slightly oversized and a pair of dark wash jeans and your beat up converse. the only piece sticking out from your ensamble was the beige apron, stained with clay. it’s quiet around the group before mr. martian walks inside greeting the others.
“wally finally joining us i see.” that name catches your attention. you look up from the gym floor to your recently deceased best friend. your breath hitched, blood running cold, were your eyes deceiving you? you had just seen him died moths ago, the vision still etched in your mind and now suddenly he’s standing in front of you like he’s fine. you think your gonna throw up. wally never expected for his to happen, he didn’t expect for you to react by running out of the gym with your hand over your mouth… it was all to much but the feeling in his heart makes him run after you. he doesn't know where you went at first but the rounds of retching in the girls bathroom makes him suspect that you’re in there.
“sweetheart, i know you’re in there and i’m not gonna go in there… for obvious reasons but i-i just want to talk.” wally runs his hand over his face, feeling stupid for what he just said. he had such a habit for blabbering even if it was a serious situation. still he just can’t believe you can see him, as much as he wanted to know how you dies; he pushes that thought to the back of his mind, his main focus was making things right with you. he stands by the door waiting for you to finish. he can hear the toilet flushing, then the stall door and the faucet running. his nerves are through the roof as he hears you footsteps come closer. he calls out your name softly as you walk out, ready to be on his knees begging you to forgive him, for what he did, ignoring you for so long, not giving you the time of day. he’s ready for you to yell and shout at him, slap him if you wanted to. he was ready for it. instead, the second you walk out you pull him into a tight hug. noticing the absence of your apron, shoving that thought behind. he bends over a bit to accommodate the height difference. he immediately wraps his arms around you, relishing in your body heat. he’d missed you so much that he almost forgot what it felt like to be in your presence but now that you’re here, there’s no need to worry for that anymore. the hug lasts for a while and soon the wet feeling of tears coat wally’s neck and varsity jacket as you silently cry into his shoulder. he soothingly rubs your back and gently rocking you back and forth, trying his best to comfort you while not trying to cry himself. your knees buckle and he easily catches you, whispering soft nothings to you. it takes you sometime to calm down. nevertheless he waits. listening to your cries become softer, hiccuping for breath as you slowly depart from him.
"i missed you." you tremble in a whisper. he gives you a sad smile cupping your cheek in his hand, gently swiping your tears away.
"i missed you too, sweetheart. fresh tears form on your waterline, eyebrows scrunched you grasp his face, pulling him into a kiss. he's astounded, the feeling of your lips on his was one he dreamt about for years, now here it is and he's standing there like an idiot not kissing you back. his grasps at your waist, the kiss is different from any he's never experienced. it's slow and passionate. you've been yearning for each other for years, dancing around the potential of where your relationship can go. you're tired of waiting even after death. you relish in the way you lips feel on his after feeling so lost without him with all that emotion you’ve bottled up when you realize that you're in love with him. words cannot express how much he has an affect of you and he can say the same thing about you. you both pull away a little breathless. you've been waiting to do that for years and wally is a bit envious that you beat him to it. your foreheads are pressed softly together, just standing in each others presence. it's a soft, intimate moment.
"i thought i was never going to see you again." you begin looking into wally's eyes. he tucks a piece of hair behind your ear, urging you to continue. “i thought i would've never be able to tell you how i feel. i-i was going to tell you after the football game but... you know.” wally stiffens, he can only assume what you'll say next but whether you break his heart of make his dreams come true. his feelings for you won't change.
“wally, you mean so much to me. you're my rock, always there for me when i need you. no matter what is it— if it was helping me pick out outfits when you hate to shop or picking me up from a disastrous date. i didn't know what it would be like to live without you until it actually happened. i felt lost, i felt like i didn't have a purpose without you. like a part of me died when you did. you give me direction, a purpose. wally clark, i love you. i love everything about you. you're little habits, the things you hate about yourself i love it all." tears are free falling again when you finish and wally's eyes are blurred with tears as he looks at you with all the love and adoration in the world. he lets out a laugh and your face almost twists into hurt when he immediately brings you close by the waist, standing at full height. he reassures you almost immediately.
"stealing my thunder again huh sweetheart?" he jokes, a smile on his face. it's hard to stay mad at him, especially with that face— trying your best to keep a stoic face while he speaks. "i was supposed to say it first." he pouts. and you shake your head, a smile peeking from your lips but you remain. he brings his hand to cup your cheek and the other on the small of your back. "but i couldn't have said it better than you. you're the only one i think understands me the best, you see right through me and can tell if i'm having a bad day or hiding something. you supported me through my football career especially when my parents seemed like they cared more about the sport than their own son. you defend me, protect me— even though i feel like i should be doing that with you. you make me feel special. i love you and i always wanted to tell you that. no matter what you do, make me sad or mad. i'll always love you."
you flush at his words, feeling small in his embrace. your feelings have never felt so strong and it honestly felt a little overwhelming, but seeing the smile on his face eases you. you lean into his touch, your throat tightening at the new thoughts looming your mind.
"what if i'm not good enough for you.” your voice comes out strained, strong with emotion. he interjects immediately. insisting that there was no one else out that that could change his mind. you were it for him. he pours his heart out to you and you the same. a smile graces you face and wally swears his heart melts. he'll do anything to protect that smile on your face til the day he dies... again.
"it's me and you against the world, sweetheart." he kisses the crown of your head, taking your hand and pulling you down the hall. maybe death isn’t so bad after all.

Name Calling
Shadow The Hedgehog x Female Reader
A/N: I've been eating up all the Shadow content lately and it all came together into this fic. I know I try to stay in the GN category but something within me just wanted to write Female, so I am sorry to those who will be put off by that, but tbh, it doesn't really have anything to do with the fic it's just the pronouns I used, they can be inalterably changed for those who prefer.
_______________________________________________
Shadow The Hedgehog had been called a lot of things in his life, monster, villain, thug, traitor, the list goes on and on. But he supposed he deserved it, after all, he was a freak of nature; a piece of science moulded by alien goo and crazed mathematics. He was made with pure intentions but was messed with, he deviated from his chosen path whether it was his choice or not.
On some particularly bad days he was known as the hedgehog that would end the world, who would bring destruction and chaos to everything he set his hands on, a single breath of his was thought to level a city. Shadow felt forever alone. He had no family to turn to, no friend to comfort him like Maria once did, to him no one compared; they were all beneath him.
Maria was the only person who could ever understand what was going on in his confused mind, she often sought to help him, she gave him a purpose:
"W-why was I made? Why was I created into this world if I was only meant to cause destruction?"
"That's not why you're here, Shadow. You are here to help people, to help me and the other humans who live down there! You were born to protect mankind from evil."
"But, Maria, I was created with this evil inside of me. The humans would only fear me-"
"You were born from love, Shadow! My grandfather made you for me, he made me a best friend and he made someone who would spread love and kindness wherever he went. Humans only fear what they don't know, or so I've been told, but they will love you, Shadow, they have to!"
Painful images now plagued those pleasant thoughts, tainting her memory like mould on a rotting fruit. After Maria's death, Shadow became a machine, too hard to produce emotion, too cold to think about the actions he took. All he knew was humanity was to blame for Maria's death, humanity took the only person who understood him; they had to pay.
Bases were burnt down, G.U.N soldiers were hunted, and civilians became hostages. Nothing was too much for him at this stage, all he needed was to quell the anger that burned inside of him, the vengeance that fueled his very being. That's where the names started coming from, parents warning their children about the boogeyman that lurks around the corner at night, the feral beast that kills in the darkness and leaves no witnesses.
Through his rage, he forgot what Maria told him, he forgot what his purpose was: to protect, to spread kindness and to love. He only came to this realisation one night after a particularly gruesome fight. It was in a small village, somewhat far from the big towns and cities, cobbled streets and large green fields. It was here where Shadow had tracked down a retired G.U.N agent, he was there on that night and therefore he had to pay.
The struggle had led from the agent's house to the cobbled streets, a single gunshot ringing out into the silence of the night, the moonlight tracing over the man's lifeless body. As Shadow pulled back, his ears flicked, a small sound: a gasp. Quickly turning around his eyes caught another human, deep blue eyes and long blonde hair. Shadow flinched, shaking away the similarities he tried to focus.
The young woman slowly shuffled back into the alley they were hiding in, the moonlight dancing over her clothes as she moved. Shadow gripped his gun tighter, the sound of his gloves creasing was as loud as the gunshot from before.
"I'm sorry I have to do this," he mumbled, pulling the gun up and aiming it at the woman. She cowered slightly, eyes dancing between the unconscious man on the floor and the ebony hedgehog in front of her, "Then don't."
Shadow perked a brow, amused by how forward she was, "Do you know who I am?" he wasn't cockey, it was a genuine question. The lady shook her head, "You're the boogeyman."
"Then you know why I have to do this."
"Then before I die, may I ask you a question?"
Shadow thought it through, although he didn't want this to drag on any longer and daylight was soon approaching, what harm could one question do from a dying woman?
"Why do you do this? Why do you go around killing people and burning houses? I've seen newspapers talking about you, calling you a monster-"
"Because I am a monster!" He struck back, cocking the gun. "A real monster would have pulled the trigger by now, a real monster wouldn't even entertain a stare with me."
Now that was good. Shadow felt like he had been pushed away into another reality, one where all of a sudden he didn't have to kill people anymore. A reality where he didn't have to skip town and live in trees or under benches, one where we didn't have to hide and feel so angry all the time.
Snapping back into reality, Shadow adjusted his hand holding the gun, foolishly he had dropped his arm just a little, "Enough, you don't know me."
"No, I don't. I don't know you, the papers sure seem to think they do, but no one just goes around doing what you do for fun. I'm not trying to help you, but don't you think you should step back a little and think about what you're doing? Is this really what you want?"
"Of course it is! This is all I've ever known and it's all I'll ever be!" he cursed out, anger swelling deep within his mind; this was just meant to be a simple job and now you'd gone and made it confusing.
"Is that really what you want?" The one simple question had broken Shadow, he dropped the gun to the floor, staring hopelessly into the ground. He had failed Maria, looking at you had reminded him of her, the promise he made to her, the purpose he was supposed to have.
He was meant to protect mankind, to help them and instead, he led them to an earlier grave. Another sound rang out, snapping the pair's attention from each other onto a random doorway. An elderly man emerged from the house, looking up and down the street until his eyes landed on you both and then on the body.
"The boogeyman! The boogeyman's here! And he's got an accomplish!" he screamed out, suddenly more and more lights started flashing on, the whole village was nearly illuminated in bright yellow light. Shadow saw the panic on the young girl's face, he recognised that look all too well: Fear.
Her life as she knew it was crashing down all because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it was all his fault. Taking what Maria said to heart, Shadow saw this as his second chance at life, his second chance to protect humanity and it all started with her. Swooping the lady into his arms, Shadow ran as fast as he could, he had to go somewhere where they'd both be safe.
The past few years after that had been a blur, things have changed since the old days, Shadow gets called friend, bud, hero and most importantly, he gets to be called the love of your life. Perhaps it was one of his best ideas to save you on that day, even if it was his fault. After that night, Shadow never left your side, perhaps it's because he felt guilty or that you reminded him of Maria; who knows?
But what you do know is that he's free now, free from all the negative thoughts, free from the names, and free from his past life.

Hey! So, I was totally stalking your account the other day (please don’t ask why, lmao), and I came across that one-shot you wrote for your last fandom. It got me thinking—could you write something like that, but with Donna?
I changed it a bit, but it’s still kinda the same. It’s about the reader having an identical twin who’s basically better than her at everything and way more popular. Like, people in the village are obsessed with her.
Somehow, Donna meets the reader, and they start getting closer, which is a big deal because, for the first time, the reader feels special—Donna, the powerful lord, likes **her** and not her sister!
Then, there’s this moment where Donna finally tries to ask the reader out, but she’s SO stressed that she doesn't even notice she’s talking to reader's twin instead! The reader overhears the whole thing, and when Donna realizes what’s happened, she goes into full-on damage control mode.
If this isn’t your thing or you think it sounds boring, PLEASE , just ignore this!
LOVE U xx
Yessss!!!! Thank you for... Stalking my account? I'm joking, thanks for your support, and for your request!!!! I hope you like it and sorry about the language mistakes!!!! :))))
Identical, but different
Pairing: Donna Beneviento x Fem! Reader
Warnings: Fluff, Donna being Donna
Word count: 7,925
Summary: You want to be more than just "her sister"
N/A: Sorry about the language mistakes!!! Requests are open!!! I'm waiting yours!!! I love you all!!!
You never liked going out on errands, and you knew exactly why.
“Hey, Ivana! Ivana!” a voice called out a name that wasn’t yours, but you knew the words were directed at you.
Rolling your eyes, you turned around, seeing a young villager running up to you.
“Ivana, listen, I want to…” the boy said hurriedly, placing an unpleasant hand on your shoulder.
You pushed it away, growling in annoyance.
“I’m not Ivana,” you said, repeating the phrase that, every time you left your house, you were forced to repeat over and over again. “I’m (Y/N)”
“Oh, wow. Sorry,” the boy said, scratching the back of his neck nervously and embarrassedly. “Um, hey, could you give this to your sister?” he asked, handing you a piece of paper with horrible handwriting on it.
A love letter, again?
“Why don't you give it to her?” you asked, taking the envelope in an unpleasant manner and putting it together with the ones that you had obtained on your walk through the village.
“Well... You are her sister...” he stammered, to which you made a face of displeasure and shook your head.
“Yes, I’m her sister, not her errand girl,” you said with a hiss, walking away from the boy.
“Don't forget to tell her that it’s form Marco!” he yelled, making you shrug and hiss a few curses.
Every day was another occasion for contempt to appear in front of you.
Being born in that dark village, under the tutelage of the Black Gods, Mother Miranda, the Lords... None of that could compare to the bad luck you had in your life. Bad luck with your family? Not exactly.
Your parents were hard workers, humble but normal parents after all. That wasn't the problem, just like living in that place wasn't the problem either. The problem was the whim of fate that hung over you at birth.
You could have been an only child, but you weren't. You had a sister, but not just any sister, completely different from you, no. Ivana was your twin sister. Physically you were identical.
But physical resemblance had nothing to do with personality. All the charisma, the ease of talking to people, of attracting attention, seemed to have been sucked out of your body and belonged only to Ivana.
She was popular, everyone in the village knew her, almost adored her (not like Mother Miranda, of course). There was no young villager who didn't notice her stupid smile, one that belonged to you, but that didn't have the same effect.
Always Ivana, always your sister was who stole all the limelight from you. You simply existed, but nothing else. You existed because you were her sister. People talked to you because they mistook you with her. It might seem like a desperate situation, and it was, but you had already gotten used to it.
Well, you weren't really excited about talking to people either. It didn't matter that your silence, your shyness and isolation were caused by a genetic error that made your sister steal all those abilities from you. You never really liked talking to people. You had other hobbies that were more peaceful than making a name for yourself in that sinister place.
Still, every day you left your house was a new torment, a new parade of refusals and corrections. Maybe one day you would play pretend to be Ivana, maybe that way you could get revenge on her. You just rambled. She stole even your courage.
“Hi,” you whispered when you got home, moving towards the kitchen where your mother was waiting for the shopping like every day. “Here you go, mother.”
“Thank you, (Y/N),” the woman said, giving you a tip much smaller than the one they gave your sister.
You didn't want to think about that. You still had hope that your own parents loved you equally.
“Hey, (Y/N),” your sister said, making you close your eyes slowly to give yourself patience. You didn't know exactly why she was that popular. You loved her, but you couldn't help but think that your sister was a bit… Unbearable. “How were the errands?”
“Very well, I love going out to freeze while you sit there,” you said ironically, passing by her. “Oh, now that I remember… Here, this is for you.”
With a sigh you took all the notes out of the pocket of your dress and threw them at her in an unpleasant way.
“Have you met Marco?” your sister asked, reading each of the letters with amusement.
“Yes, and he mistook me for you, just like all those idiots,” you commented, letting yourself fall into an armchair, taking your knife to continue with your greatest hobby, carving wooden figurines, something your grandfather taught you and that, along with reading, helped you to spend the time.
“Don't be jealous,” Ivana mocked, sitting on one arm of the sofa, getting on your nerves. “Look, he says I'm the prettiest girl in the village…”
“That's great. How many girls are there in the village?” you said with irony.
“Mm, it smells like envy,” she murmured, crumpling the letter and throwing it into the fireplace.
“Envy? Please, we are identical,” you said, shaking your head and looking at the fireplace. “Hey, why did you do that?”
“I'm not interested in that boy,” Ivana commented. “Are you with your figurines again?”
“You're not interested? Wasn't he your boyfriend?” you asked, preventing the girl from reaching your wooden work. “Leave me alone.”
“You said it... He was... I think I need to start aiming for a higher level,” she murmured, looking at her nails in a smug manner. “What about you?”
“What about me?”
“When are you going to leave your stupid wooden figurines and look for a handsome boy to hook up with?” Ivana asked, making you roll your eyes and snort tiredly.
“I'm not interested,” you whispered, polishing that wooden cat.
“You're weird, huh?” the twin mocked, getting up, making you stare at her.
“Am I weird for not wanting to break the hearts of half the village?” you asked, leaving the cat on a table and getting up in a bad mood.
“That's because you can't, you don't have my charms,” she said with a haughty tone, pointing at herself.
Your patience was at its limit.
“Whatever you say,” you murmured tiredly, glancing sideways at your mother, who seemed attentive to the conversation. “Should I help you, mother?”
“No, honey,” the woman said kindly.
“Are you running away from the conversation? That's because you know I'm right,” Ivana said, crossing her arms in satisfaction.
You had lost your patience at that point. After a whole morning of being mistaken, your mood was rather delicate. With a groan, you got up from the couch and walked towards the door.
“Hey, loser, where are you going?”
“Where you don’t care,” you said abruptly, bumping her with your shoulder as you passed and walking out the door. “Stupid…”
Going out for a walk around the area could be comforting, you always did it. Relaxing with your sister always present, walking through the village was impossible but… If you went further away, where there was no one, at least you could be calm.
Walking through the trees you cursed and mumbled about the bad luck you had to be born with someone, running your hand over the rocks, looking at the sky, where the cawing of the crows also seemed to want to make fun of you.
“Ivana is perfect, isn't she? To hell with her…” you whispered, shaking your head, walking aimlessly without paying attention. “Oh, Ivana, it's nice to see you, Ivana, I'll give you a discount for being you, Ivana… I can't believe it.”
When you got tired of walking in circles, you stopped in a small clearing that wasn’t familiar to you, siting at an old tree’s feet, along with some of those branches that fell due to the passage of time.
“Ivana is the best, the prettiest, the smartest,” you mocked with an amused expression, picking up a piece of branch and taking out your knife.
“Look at me: I'm stupid Ivana, the one who can't keep a boyfriend for more than one night, the best in the whole world… Damn it.”
Between grunts you began to carve a small wooden figure hoping that time would pass faster. After all, you would have to go home sooner or later.
“Are you Ivana? You're so pretty Ivana…” you continued to murmur, shaping that little figure that looked more and more like a deer. “I'm sick. Oh, Ivana, it's you, isn't it? Of course it's you, you're so beautiful… Oh, it's (Y/N), wow, what a disappointment… Always the same, damn it… I hate you … I'm not damn Ivana… Do I have to cut my hair so you can stop confusing each other? Stupid…”
“Oh, you're Ivana, aren't you?” a different voice said, one you hadn't noticed. It was a mocking voice that you identified with a treacherous subconscious, or a stupid villager.
Either option was irritating enough to make you get up from the tree and turn around furiously.
“Do I have to put a sign on my forehead? I'm not Ivana!” you shrieked with your eyes closed, squeezing the figurine in your hands.
“Wow, what a bad mood you have…” the same voice said.
You opened your eyes sighing, ready to tell another villager to go to hell, but when you did, your face paled.
It wasn't a villager. It wasn't even a human being. A sinister doll stood in front of you, laughing amusedly. You didn't need to think about who it could be, you knew perfectly well: the Angie doll, inseparable companion of one of the four Lords, Donna Beneviento.
The lady in black stood behind the doll with a cold and stoic pose while the puppet laughed amused by your carelessness.
You immediately lowered your head at the sight of the dark lady, your body shaking in terror.
“Lady Beneviento,” you murmured in fear, knowing you were completely defenseless. “I’m sorry, I…”
“What are you doing here?” the doll asked, causing you to look away from the lady and stare frightened at the puppet. “You’re in our territory, stupid.”
“R-Really? Oh, I…,” you said in fear, looking around.
You were definitely angry that day. You hadn’t even realized where your irrational anger had taken you.
“Don’t you know you can’t come here?” the doll insisted, pointing at you with her finger in amusement. “Ivana?”
“I-I'm not Ivana,” you said, ignoring the anger that came over you when she said that name. “I'm (Y/N), her sister…”
“Oh, her sister, I didn't know she had a sister,” Angie said with her hands on her hips. “Well, I actually knew, but I'd never seen you. Ha, I thought I was seeing double...”
“W-We're twins,” you said, still scared, looking up to see the lady, who seemed to be watching you in silence.
“Twins, how cool,” the doll said, getting a little closer to you, fixing her porcelain gaze on the small wooden deer. “What's this?” she asked, snatching the half-made figurine from you.
You made a timid gesture to take it back, but when you felt the lady's gaze on yours, you stopped.
“It's…. It's…” you stammered, controlling the incipient trembling of your legs. “It's a wooden deer.”
“Oh, a deer… Did you make it?” the curious puppet asked, pretending to play with the figurine.
You nodded nervously, clasping your hands in front of your body.
“I, I like to make wooden figurines, I, I carve them myself,” you explained in a small voice.
Angie looked at you and turned around, approaching her owner.
“Look, Donna, look, look,” she said excitedly, handing the lady the deer.
She picked it up slowly, making you notice her hands, which immediately caught your attention. After all, that black veil didn't allow you to see anything.
“Mm,” you thought you heard a murmur coming from the black fabric, but you were so scared that you didn't even pay attention while the doll maker calmly observed the figurine.
She was dangerous, very dangerous. She was a disturbed woman who had no mercy on anyone who came snooping around, someone like you.
“Hey, silly, are you looking for a job?” the doll asked, observing your work of art alongside the lady.
You froze when the lady in black extended her hand to kindly return the figurine to you. You had no answer to that question.
“Um…” you stammered, avoiding making contact with that hand that seemed so soft. “Job?”
“Uh-huh, my Donna is quite the doll artist,” Angie said, pointing at the lady in black, who moved her hand, returning it to the side of her waist. “Maybe your skills as a wood artist could be useful.”
“My skills?” you asked curiously, pointing at yourself. “Uh, actually this, this is a hobby. I'm not a carpenter or something like that.”
“That doesn't matter to us, you have talent, girl,” Angie said, walking around you like a carrion bird. “I assure you that my Donna values talent very much…”
“Oh, I…” you stammered again, scratching the back of your neck. “I-I don't know what to say…”
“Well, don't say anything, silly,” Angie laughed, being picked up from the ground by her owner, who began to walk away from you, passing by your side like a ghost, one that smelled of lavender… “Anyway, think about it, come to our mansion tomorrow so we can get to know each other better, okay?”
“I-I… W-Well, okay,” you said confused, nodding, while the lady turned her head to look at you for the last time, continuing her way towards the wooden bridge.
That encounter with a Lord was strange, but the strangest thing of all was being able to get out of that place alive. You had heard so many rumors about the lady in black that you didn't know if you could believe them.
You survived, and on top of that... You had a unique job opportunity. You, the scorned sister, had been chosen by Donna Beneviento herself.
You should feel special, but what you had was fear, fear of what could happen to you. The job offer was, however, tempting and on the way home, you could not stop thinking about it.
It wasn’t something you could keep quiet and, during the meal, you told your family what had happened.
“What do you mean?” your father asked after a few seconds of deathly silence. “You say that Beneviento wants you to work for her?”
“Yes, father,” you said, lowering your head, drinking a glass of water. “It seems that she needs help with her dolls.”
“Wait, are you telling me that a Lord has taken an interest in you?” your sister asked, her eyes wide. The trouble of going into the forest was worth just to see her face.
“Yes, it seems that my figurines are not a waste of time,” you said with a haughty tone, making your sister frown.
“(Y/N)…” your father sighed. “I hope you're not thinking of accepting that offer.”
You shrugged.
“I don't know, it could be a good job,” you whispered indecisively, picking up a piece of bread.
“A good job? That woman is insane, do you hear me? I won't let my daughter risk her life like that,” the man said, pointing at you sternly. “No.”
“But, father…” you protested with a sad look. “She didn't seem so… Insane to me…”
“Seriously, why you?” your sister added, envy oozing from every pore.
“No… No wa…” your father repeated, interrupted by your mother's hand.
“Vlad… Wait a moment,” the woman said in a cautious tone. “Maybe it's a good opportunity. That horrible woman is a Lord. She’s rich…”
“My daughter isn't worth all the money in the world, Ingrid,” your father said, crossing his arms.
You couldn't help but smile. At least for your family you were something else than Ivana's sister.
“Think about it Vlad, if (Y/N) works for Beneviento, we'll be protected in some way, besides, we have a lot of debts… It could be the miracle we're waiting for,” your mother commented, making the whole family look at you.
“Well… What do you say, (Y/N)?” the man asked, pointing at you with his fork. “Do you want to work for that crazy woman?”
Again, you shrugged, nodding slowly.
“I don’t think it’s a bad idea,” you whispered, eating calmly.
Your sister snorted, crossing her arms.
“I can’t believe it, you?” she protested with a nasty look.
“What’s wrong, Ivana?” you said with an evil smile. “Are you jealous?”
The next day, after enjoying your sister’s protests, you decided to accept, walking, this time with a sure course towards the lady’s mansion. Internally you meditated on your options.
Well, your parents needed money and… Your sister was jealous. There was no harm in trying your luck with that woman. Maybe she wasn't as horrible as everyone thought. You certainly didn't think so.
“Okay…” you muttered, entering through a red door that led to an elevator. Just getting there made you feel lucky. You wondered if you could go back.
When you finally reached the the mansion, your eyes widened in awe at the sight. A splendid waterfall rose to the side of the old house, one you had only seen in photographs.
“It's great,” you said with a smile, pleased by the beauty of the place, by feeling that, somehow, you weren't in danger.
But your face changed when you saw a figure walking towards the house, one that looked suspiciously like you.
“It can't be…” you muttered, walking faster and shaking your head. “Hey, you! What the hell are you doing here?” you asked annoyed, pulling your twin sister's arm.
She smiled at you arrogantly.
“I see that punctuality is not your strong point, huh?” she mocked, breaking away from your grip and walking towards the entrance of the mansion. “I'm here looking for work, (Y/N)”
“What? You have to be kidding,” you said indignantly, pulling her arm again. “Go away, Ivana, this job is mine.”
“Oh, please…” the girl sighed, rolling her eyes. “Don't be naive, you're good for nothing.”
“Well, it turns out that Lady Beneviento needs my talent for wood carving, one you don't have,” you said mockingly, climbing the stairs with your twin, who laughed ironically.
“Don't talk nonsense, you're useless, (Y/N), I can do many more things,” she said satisfied, putting on her dress before knocking on the door, something you prevented by grabbing her wrist.
“What things? Are you planning to seduce this woman too?” you asked unpleasantly.
“Please, I'm not into women, that would be you,” Ivana said sarcastically, releasing herself from your hand and bringing her fist closer to the door again.
“You're unbearable,” you growled, kicking the ground, furious. “This job is mine, Beneviento wanted me, not you. Can't you let me be the protagonist for once?”
“You? Protagonist? Don't make me laugh,” your sister mocked, crossing her arms.
“I really want to pull your hair...” you threatened, approaching her with a dark look.
“You are so vulgar, and you want to work for a Lord?”
“I'm going to…” you growled, reaching out your arms towards your sister, who struggled with you until, with an ominous creak, the door opened.
“Well, well, well…” Angie the doll hummed, in the arms of the lady in black.
Comically, the two sisters separated, adopting a formal and respectful pose.
“Look Donna, has anyone ordered a two for one?” the doll mocked, laughing amusedly while pointing at you effusively.
“Lady Beneviento,” you and Ivana said at the same time, with a frown.
“Am I seeing double?” the puppet mocked again, shaking her head.
“Lady Beneviento,” your sister said, taking a step forward and extending her hand towards the lady, who lowered her gaze but didn’t return the greeting. “Um, I have come looking for work.”
“You?” the doll asked, with a suspicious tone. “(Y/N)?”
“No, no, (Y/N) is this one,” Ivana said mockingly, pointing at you while you kept your head down. “I’m her sister and it is wrong for me to say it, but… I’m better than her for this job.”
“Shut up,” you hissed in an angry whisper, glancing sideways at the lady in black. Unfortunately, you couldn't know where that mysterious woman was looking.
“Oh…” the doll murmured. “Do you also carve wood?”
“No, my lady, but I… Well, I have other talents,” your unbearable sister said.
The lady sighed loudly, but made a gesture for both of you to enter the house.
As expected, your sister's charisma made her not want to keep quiet, making kind comments about everything in the mansion, she even had the audacity to comment on the beauty of the portrait hanging on the wall of the stairs, one that you also noticed, but you didn't say anything.
The two of you sat on a sofa following the vague and silent instructions of the lady in black, who did the same on an armchair located in front of you.
“I think that color suits the house well, and it has a beautiful floor and…” Ivana said tirelessly while you simply lowered your head, occasionally looking at the stoic lady, who, you couldn't be sure, but you thought was looking at you.
“Hey, shut up,” Angie protested, making your sister close her mouth immediately with a cocky smile. “Let's see… You are Ivana, right?”
“Yes, my lady,” your sister said, blinking petulantly.
“And you (Y/N),” Angie repeated, pointing at you.
Your response was an elegant nod.
“Well, I already know what (Y/N) knows how to do, but you… I've heard a lot of things about you in the village,” Angie said, speaking in a slightly strange way, as if she wasn't really the doll.
The woman didn't speak, she just looked at you.
“It's an honor, my lady,” Ivana said, bowing ridiculously. “Yes, I'm quite well-known in the village.”
“Uh-huh, okay, why do you want to work for us?” the puppet asked.
“It would be an honor for me to serve you, my lady,” Ivana said, making you look at her with a disgusted face.
“What can you do?” Angie asked again, without looking at you, the complete opposite of her owner, or so you thought.
“Well, among my many talents… I know how to cook…” the girl began petulantly, placing herself in an informal posture.
You didn't move, you simply maintained that mysterious look.
“My Donna also cooks, what else?” Angie said, her tone seeming impatient. “We don't need cooks.”
“I'm very good at washing clothes,” your twin continued.
“That's good, hey, haven't you heard of washing machines? You should try them,” Angie mocked, making you unable to contain a smile.
“I-I can also… I can…” your sister stammered, revealing with her voice that she was starting to get nervous. “I'm very good at conversation.”
“Oh, did you hear that, Donna? She likes to talk,” Angie said, looking at the lady who did the same with a serene pose. “What do you say, Donna? Oh, of course, you don't like to talk…”
“Um, um… I can, I can be your maid, my lady, I'll do anything you ask me to,”
Was that a desperate request? Your discreet smile widened.
“We don't need a maid, silly, why don't you try the castle? Surely there you are useful,” the doll said.
You suppressed an amused laugh, glancing sideways at your trembling sister.
“Get out of my house,” a hoarse, unknown voice said, one that came out from the black veil, which had a soft and melodic accent. It was Donna, you were sure.
You, thinking she was talking to you, lowered your head with sadness in your gaze, getting up from the sofa.
“Yes, get out, you're bothering me,” your sister emphasized with a satisfied smile.
“No, not you, (Y/N),” the hoarse voice spoke again.
You stopped with a cautious look.
“You stupid fool!” Angie shrieked, pointing at your sister. “Didn't you hear my Donna? We don't need a fool like you, you're useless.”
“What?” Ivana asked with a frown.
“Go away, go away, come on, out, out,” the doll insisted, gesturing with her hands while your sister, scared, looking at you with fiery eyes, ran towards the exit.
“Sit down,” the dark voice spoke again and the hand of the lady in black moved towards the sofa.
You, amused watching your sister leave the mansion, obeyed, calmer. A moment of silence tensed the atmosphere. There was no one else the lady could be looking at, there was only you.
“Your sister can't be quiet, right?” the lady asked, with that very special voice, with an almost inaudible whisper.
You smiled kindly, shaking your head.
“Yes, she's an idi... I mean, she's, she's... Like that,” you said, swallowing the insult. She was a Lord, after all.
“She's an idiot, you can say it,” Angie said, amused, getting off her owner's lap and sitting on the couch next to you. “We don't like idiots...” she whispered in your ear.
You smiled again, lowering your head when you felt those invisible eyes looking at you again.
“Do I scare you, (Y/N)?” the lady asked, making you briefly look up and shake your head, lying shamelessly.
“No,” you said with a sleepy, broken voice, playing with your hands and wishing to carve wood to release the stress. The Lord tilted her head slowly, searching for the truth with that simple gesture. “Well, a, a bit... I've never been that close to... One of you.”
“So, what do you think? Is it as horrible as you expected?” Beneviento asked again, running a hand over her knee, as if she were nervous too, which was impossible, of course.
“Not really,” you said in a sincere tone, smiling at the ridiculousness of your perfect sister. “You’re the… First one who doesn’t… Who doesn’t think my sister is… Well, great.”
“She’s not great,” she said in a sharp voice. “You have a talent I need. She’s just a stupida…”
“Oh, well, I…” you said, scratching your head, blushing at the compliment, which was unusual if it wasn’t accompanied by: Oh, you’re Ivana, aren’t you? “It’s, it’s a hobby.”
“A hobby that I find very useful,” she murmured, gesturing to Angie and getting up from the sofa with a tired sigh. “Come.”
You stood nervously on the couch, your legs deciding they didn't want to move. You were terribly nervous. No one had ever paid you so much attention, much less... Someone like her.
“Didn't you hear me, girl?” Donna asked impatiently, turning around to look at you, making her veil dance hypnotically. “Come here.”
“Y-Yes, sorry,” you said hastily, getting up and walking next to her, again, in silence, a terrifying one.
After going down an elevator, you walked through a dark basement that gave you chills, until you reached what looked like an old workshop, surely the place where those porcelain dolls were created.
All the children in the village had one, and you were no exception, although your sister's was much more detailed, as always.
“I suppose you're wondering what I want you to do for me,” the lady in black murmured, walking towards a table, where there was an old sewing machine. You nodded with a formal pose.
“Yes, my lady,” you said in a dry, respectful tone, as much as you could.
“Do you see these dolls?” she asked, pointing at the objects, impatiently indicating for you to come a little closer. “Don't just stand there, come closer, girl.”
You walked slowly, taking the porcelain doll the lady offered you and examining it carefully.
“I've known how to make these dolls since I was much younger than you,” the lady began explaining while you played with the doll's clothes. “It's easy for me.”
“I-I see, my lady, it's a magnificent job,” you said with your best smile, giving the doll back to her.
“Save the compliments. If I wanted someone to flatter me, I would call your sister,” she said in a cold tone, leaving the doll in its place.
You swallowed and nodded, regretting your words.
“The thing is simple, (Y/N)… Wood was never my strong point,” the lady whispered, gesturing towards the restless Angie, who climbed into her arms, as if she had hypnotized the doll. “Look at those joints, the details of the fingers…”
You obeyed, craning your head to look at those hands… And also at the wooden fingers.
“It's very well done,” you said, touching the puppet unsteadily, moving its fingers.
“Don't touch it too much, or she will bite you,” the lady said in a dark tone, which made you move your hand away immediately, making something like a nervous laugh come out from behind the veil. “Sorry, it's a joke. Angie won't do anything to you.”
“Oh, okay…” you sighed, playing with your hands.
“Angie was created by my father, and he was good at wood, a talent that, unfortunately, I didn't inherit,” the lady continued, giving life to Angie again and lowering her to the ground. “I would like to recover that part I lost, to make these moving dolls again, and for that, I need you.”
“I understand,” you said pleasantly, nodding.
“Will you be able to help me, or am I wasting my time, (Y/N)?” she asked, crossing her arms in a challenging pose.
“I will do what I can, my lady,” you said elegantly, smiling, knowing that you had gotten the job, one that your sister was not able to achieve, one in which, at last, you would surpass her.
“My lady…” she whispered, with a nervous laugh, indicating for you to sit on a nearby chair. “Don't call me that, you remind me of your sister…”
“Oh, okay,” you said laughing shyly, taking a piece of wood that she handed you. “Lady Beneviento?”
“Donna, it's much shorter,” she said, sighing and sitting next to you. You nodded nervously. “Well, it's not that I doubt you, girl, but I'd like to see what you're capable of. I want a right arm, more or less like Angie's, can you do it?”
And so, by a terrible coincidence, a new part of your life began. A much better one, one in which, finally, you didn't feel inhibited by your sister's abilities.
You had a job. You worked for a Lord, an achievement only reserved for the privileged or well, for any young girl who dared to approach the castle, and who didn't plan on getting married.
The days passed quickly in the old mansion. Silence always accompanied you as you manipulated that wood, always next to the lady in black.
Yes, she could be many things, she could be a sick and dangerous woman, but she didn't show it with you. She wasn't very talkative, quite the opposite of her doll, but she was kind in her own way, grateful for your formality, for every thing you did well, and understanding if you made a mistake.
You certainly felt better than ever. Finally there was someone who preferred you over your sister, something you never thought could happen. The days, weeks, months passed and those little conversations with the doll maker increased little by little, as did your smiles.
Donna was a fascinating, mysterious woman, but completely different from the other Lords. Surely that was what caught your attention, yes, yes, it wasn't at all her sweetness, her melodic and seductive accent, or the beauty of her hands…
Maybe you were a bit confused, maybe that attraction (yes, attraction) you were starting to feel for the lady in black was simply a thank you from your heart for feeling important, for feeling that, for once, your sister wasn’t the protagonist.
“Good job, (Y/N),” Donna whispered, running her slender fingers through the wooden ones you had just polished while you looked at her satisfied. “I can give this little hand a manicure, don't you think?”
“Yes, thank you, Donna,” you said with a smile, sighing at the work that wooden arm took you.
She nodded, making you understand she had heard you and, surprisingly, she brought her hand to the black veil that covered her face, removing it elegantly.
You looked away at first, but you couldn't help but glance at her face out of the corner of your eye, getting very nervous. Donna was, just as you feared, a beautiful woman. You didn't even pay much attention to the scar, which was probably the reason for wanting to hide her face.
Your mouth opened slightly and your gaze became bolder, going straight to the lady, who was searching through an old glass for a suitable brush to paint your creation.
“Che stai guardando?” she asked without looking at you, knowing that you had become petrified, and why.
“Oh, no-nothing,” you said nervously, returning to the table to play with the leftover pieces of wood.
The lady frowned, glancing at you out of the corner of her eye, putting the brush back in its place.
“Did you understand me?” she asked curiously, turning to look at you, to confirm the beauty you had noticed. “Do you know Italian?”
“Um, yes, no, um, I don't know,” you stammered, turning abruptly to look at the table again. “It's just that... I, I've read a lot of books...”
“Do you like to read?” she asked, taking the brush and smearing it with paint.
“Um, yeah,” you said quietly, playing with a piece of wood, carving it to calm your nerves.
“Mm,” she murmured, concentrating on the arm, not caring too much about you had seen her face. She didn’t really have to. One bad word and you would end up at the bottom of the waterfall. “Your sister likes to read too?”
“My sister?” you asked with a mocking smile. “I doubt she even knows what a book is,” you said, forgetting about the beauty next to you.
Donna laughed softly, but kept her face serious.
“Excuse me for asking, but… Why do you hate your sister?” she asked in a soft voice, curious but distracted at the same time.
“I don't hate her,” you said sighing, shaking your head. “She's my sister and I love her, but it's just that… Ugh, she was always the most… Popular… Everyone approaches her, sucks up to her, wants to flirt with her… It seems like I’m nothing but her shadow.”
“There's no one who doesn't know her,” the lady commented, painting in a disinterested way. “But I don't understand why. She's stupid.”
“Yeah, well…” you said amused, rolling your eyes. “But even if she's stupid, I don't know how she does it, but she has a natural talent for people, she has a lot of charisma, and joy and... Well, everything I lack... She's like a double... Or rather, I'm her sinister double...”
“Mm, so you think that being popular makes you a better person,” she commented distractedly, making you reflect.
“Yes, no, I don't know,” you said, nodding and suddenly shaking your head, not sure of your answer.
“Do you think she's better because people want to flirt with her?” Donna asked again, making you blush.
“W-Well, that doesn't matter too much to me, we don't have the same interests,” you said with a shy voice, not wanting to reveal an important fact about yourself, one that you didn't know how Lady Beneviento would take it.
“Mm, that's obvious,” she murmured without looking at you, making you startle.
“Why do you say so?”
“You're not scared of my face,” she said in a darker voice, controlling an incipient tremor in her hands.
“The-there's nothing to be scared of,” you said, nervous, uncomfortable.
The lady stopped painting, smiling strangely.
“Surely your sister would run away terrified,” she murmured, sighing sadly, something that caught your attention.
“No way,” you said amused with a gesture of your hand. “No matter what she thought, she would surely try to seduce you to take some of your fortune. She always does the same with everyone.”
“Seduce me?” the lady asked amused, letting the wooden arm go and turning to look at you.
“Yes, I think so,” you said, looking away. “She would do anything to gain fame...”
“Even seduce a monster like me,” she said in a different tone, pressing her lips together.
A bad choice of words.
“I didn't mean that,” you said regretfully. “I, I just, I mean that, seducing you is not what... Well, I think that... Well, anyone with eyes in their face could see how beautiful you are and... Well, I... Well... I-I better shut up...” you said nervously, red as blood, looking at the old clock, wishing it was time to leave.
“Do you want to seduce me, (Y/N)?” she asked, in a whispery tone, looking at you with a frown.
Your heart couldn't take it anymore.
“Oh, I... I'm not like my sister,” you said avoiding that poisoned dart, avoiding saying what you really thought.
“That's why I like you,” the lady whispered, bringing a soft hand surprisingly to your face, caressing it gently, almost automatically.
Your breathing quickened and your eyes danced nervously, locked on hers, on that bright and beautiful eye as her skin made contact with yours, a sensation you didn't know felt so good (although you shamefully fantasized about it)
“Y-You-You like me…” you stammered, bringing your hand to hers, leaning in the same way as her until the lady, clearing her throat, withdrew, surely embarrassed.
“Yes, um, um… I think, I think you've done enough for today. You can leave,” Donna said, shaking her head and frowning more intensely, gesturing with her hand.
“Okay,” you sighed with an exaggeratedly sad tone.
Nothing was the same after that strange conversation.
You finally admitted that you feel something for the lady in black, that it wasn't the simple illusion of being valued more than your sister. It was something different, a kind of tension, of tense and uncomfortable moments that became routine.
The smiles, the casual contact of your hands with hers became something more and more frequent. You couldn't be more in love, but neither of you ever mentioned it.
There was never any talk of those subtle caresses or those glances. You didn't dare to say what you thought, and neither did she. It was better this way after all, you could be misinterpreting things.
“That's it... Slowly...” the lady said, on one of those days when you weren't working with wood, but you were learning to sew instead, thanks to her advice. The smile was always in the lady's eye, and on your cheeks, the red color settled as definitive.
“Like this?” you asked, showing her the piece of fabric. She nodded amused, without stopping to look at you. “Good, now I know how to sew.”
“Yes,” she said, with a wider smile. “It's not complicated, (Y/N), it's a matter of practice.”
“I see…” you sighed, going over those clumsy seams.
Silence returned to the old workshop.
“(Y/N)… I, I've been thinking,” Donna murmured, moving away from that comfortable proximity, playing with her hands while you continued sewing. “Maybe it seems hasty but… I have, I have to tell you something.”
You looked at her with wide eyes as she grabbed one of your hands. She was sweating, shaking visibly. She seemed terribly nervous.
“Okay…” you sighed, dazzled by her soft caresses.
“I…”
“Hey, you two!” Angie's shrieks interrupted that tense moment, that moment you had been waiting for so long.
“Angie, this is not a right time,” the lady growled, having seen her attempt frustrated.
“What were you doing?” the doll asked in a mocking tone, dragging out her words. “Well, whatever, there's a knock at the door, Donna.”
“I'm not expecting anyone,” she said, frowning again. “Who is it?”
“What do I know?” the doll answered, shrugging.
“Cazzo… Dov’è il mio velo…?” the lady murmured nervously, searching for something on the table.
You put a hand on her shoulder and stood up with a smile.
“I'm coming, don't worry,” you said in a kind voice, making her nod with a weak smile.
“Thank you”
When you got to the door, your smile instantly vanished.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, crossing your arms when you saw your clone, your sister, dressed the same way as you with an almost furious look.
“It turns out that thanks to you I have become the new errand girl,” Ivana said with a cocky tone.
You raised your eyebrows, with a triumphant smile.
“It's a pain, huh?” you mocked. “I've been like that for years.”
“Yes, whatever you say…” your sister said, making an unpleasant gesture with her hand. “Mother gave me this for you.”
“Oh, cookies…” you said with a tender smile.
“Yes, she says she wants Lady Beneviento to try them,” Ivana commented, looking at her nails with disinterest.
“Okay, thanks,” you said, entering the house and closing the door, something you couldn't do, since your sister prevented it.
“Hey, you ungrateful witch, don't you know how much it cost me to get here?” she rebuked you, with a finger on your chest.
“What do I care?”
“You could give me a glass of water, at least,” Ivana protested, lowering her gaze.
“Ugh, fine,” you said sighing and shaking your head. “Stay there and, don't, touch, anything.”
“Whatever you say,” the young woman said, crossing her arms as you went up the stairs.
Grumbling and mumbling you went up to the bathroom on the top floor. You would go down to the kitchen for no reason. Your sister would do nothing but snoop around.
“Oh, there you are,” a familiar voice caught your attention, along with the unmistakable sound of heels.
You leaned over the railing, watching as the lady in black dangerously approached your sister, her face covered.
“Mm?” your twin murmured, blinking in disbelief when the brunette uncovered her face again. She seemed very, very nervous.
You wanted to intervene, but you didn't, you stayed glued to the railing with the glass in your hand, shaking more and more.
“Who was it?” Donna asked, getting a little closer to Ivana. “W-Well, it, it doesn't matter…”
“Um, I…” your twin stammered, surely surprised to see her face.
“W-Wait, let, let me tell you something…” the lady interrupted, moving her hand to reach your sister's, joining it with hers, interlacing their fingers. Ivana didn't move; she remained open-mouthed.
“Um, um…”
“I know it's crazy and I know your answer will probably break my heart, but I can't keep quiet about what I feel, (Y/N),” Donna whispered, making a great effort to speak.
You fidgeted nervously on the railing, a smile appearing on your face, a smile that hid the evidence of what was happening downstairs.
“I… I've, I've been alone all my life until… Until you showed up and… With you I feel, I feel like I wouldn't want to be alone again…” the lady continued, squeezing your sister's hand tighter. “I-I'm, I'm in love with you.”
Your jaw dropped at the same time as your sister's. You couldn't believe it, it was the happiest day of your life, was it?
“Y-You don't have to answer me now, but, but I would like, I would like...” the lady said, still nervous at the lack of response from the stunned Ivana. “I would like you to help me discover what love is... Together, next to you... What...? What do you say?” she whispered, caressing your sister's hair, her face pale from those words.
She gently pulled her, lightly placing her lips on your twin's, kissing her slowly.
That was too much for you.
Your hand became weak, dropping the glass on the floor, breaking it into a thousand pieces with an unpleasant sound that attracted the attention of the two women.
“Donna!” you shouted, rushing down the stairs. “Donna, wait, that's not...”
“W-W-What?” the lady stammered, blinking in confusion and letting your sister's waist go.
“Hey, I'm not (Y/N)…” Ivana said amused. “But if you share you money with me I'll be whoever you want…”
“What? You? You?” Donna said nervously, running a hand through her hair and breathing heavily, pointing at one of you each time. “You, you're not… You…”
“Donna, she's my sister,” you said, arriving at the hall in a hurry and pushing your twin away. “Are you an idiot? What are you up to?”
“Hey, hey, I didn't do anything,” Ivana protested amused and nervous. “It was her… Boy, (Y/N) you were so quiet about that.”
You growled, looking at the lady in black, who had a lost look on her face while her body suffered nervous spasms.
“You're…. You're… (Y/N)…” Donna stammered, unable to control her anxiety. “You… You're, you're…”
“Did I miss something?” your sister asked, frowning.
“Oh, you stupid moron…” you muttered, putting your hands on the brunette's shoulders.
Donna was unable to look at you.
“No… No!” she shrieked furiously, pushing you away as she ran off, kicking all the furniture in her path.
“Hey, wait!” you shrieked, chasing her.
“Sis, you're such a flirter,” Ivana mocked, laughing amused. “Who would have thought that a Lord was so stupid as to be interested in you?”
“Shut up,” you hissed as you held the brunette, who struggled against your grip, sobbing. “Donna…”
The lady apparently calmed down, looking at your sister with a furious eye and pushing you away again, walking hurriedly towards her.
“Hey, hey, hey, I didn't mean…” your sister said, running away from the doll maker, who was chasing her furiously. “Hey, I'm sorry…”
A dull thud silenced your twin's complaints. Angie, who had slipped among you, hit your sister with a piece of wood, leaving her unconscious.
“Right in the head,” the doll said, laughing sinisterly.
“Stronza…” Donna growled, approaching you twin’s unconscious body. “How dare you to fool me!?”
“Hey, Donna, wait, wait, leave her alone,” you said, grabbing her shoulders again. “It's not her fault, wait, please…”
“(Y/N)…” the lady sighed, changing from anger to sadness. “What have I done?”
“Eh, eh, it's okay…” you said, glancing at your sister. Of course, she was still alive. “You got confused, it's normal.”
“I, I made a fool of myself… (Y/N)…” she sobbed, throwing herself into the shelter of your arms as she lowered herself to the floor, burying her head in your chest. “I'm sorry!”
“Shhh, Donna…” you said in a comforting whisper, caressing her hair, kneeling. “I've heard everything…”
“I'm sorry…” she sobbed again, clinging to your dress. “You don't know how much I…”
Her apologies were silenced by a kiss, one from your lips, a bold, brave one, the first of your life, but not the last. It was a sudden and disastrous kiss, but it served to silence the sobs of the lady in black, who slowly pushed you away, calmer.
“Those things you said...” you murmured smiling, wiping away the tears of the brunette. “Do you really have feelings for me?”
“Yes,” she sighed. “Yes, (Y/N), I... I, I love you...”
“You know what? I've been wanting to hear you say it for so long, that I don't care that you said it to my sister,” you joked softly, cradling the sobbing lady in your arms.
“Cazzo...” she lamented again, burying her head further into her chest.
“I'm going to take my sister home and... When, when I get back I want us to... Well, talk about this... Maybe over dinner?”

Welcome esteemed guests to chapter four of my still unnamed fanfic! Please place your suggestions on a name in the comments if you feel so inclined. :)
Bruce massaged the bridge of his nose as he turned on the coms, hopefully one of his family members would have one in right now.
“Team, Constantine will be here in five to visit our guest. Either be in gear and in the bat cave or make yourselves scarce.”
“Understood Father.”
“Why is Constantine coming here?”
“You got it, b!”
Bruce did his best to answer Tim’s question as he surveyed the confiscated items from the self proclaimed guys in white, eyeing the vials of bright green liquid he had yet to finish analyzing.
“The infinite realms sounded familiar to me so I posed some inquiries about it to Constantine. This apparently set off the alarms for him as I attempted to elaborate. Now he’s on his way.”
Bruce made no efforts to hide his exasperation as he headed towards the zeta tube entrance of the bat cave.
Jason sat in a large ornate chair vigilantly as the boy he was tasked to watch slept in the plush guest bed. He looked no older then seven. Who could hurt such a small kid? The thought made Jason sick.
Dick entered the room after knocking gently. “Hey little wing, did you hear Bruce earlier? Constantine is really gunning it over here. We need to either get lost or put on our dominos at least.”
Jason scoffed at the cutesy nickname and made a move to get up until Danny stirred in his sleep. Jason stopped in his tracks.
“Can’t” Jason uttered
“What?” Dick said inquisitively
“Can’t leave him.”
Jason really couldn’t. It was like he was glued to the chair at the bedside of this kid.
Dick looked with concern at his younger brother. “I see… how about this! I will go get your gear and keep an eye on him while you change in the en-suite. That way you aren’t far!”
Jason squinted his eyes at the proposition.
“Jason, I promise Danny is safe here. You don’t have to worry.”
It ended up working out perfectly.
“Hey Disco boy”
“hm?”
“I don’t know what came over me, thanks for not giving me a hard time.”
“Aww you’re welcome mama bird!”
Jason met this teasing with a myriad of expletives that were whisper-yelled at his brother.
“Try not to be a helicopter parent!” Dick laughed as he retreated from the room.
Danny stirred once again as his eyes flitted open. He sat up groggily and surveyed his surroundings. Jason could tell panic was seeping into his veins as he saw his unfamiliar environment.
“Hey, it’s okay”
Danny’s head snapped towards the source of the voice.
“You’re safe” Jason continued “ someone named CW sent you here to heal”
Jason’s soothings seemed to reach him as he relaxed and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
“Where is he?!? Bats, this could be the catalyst of an inter dimensional war! A war against a people who’s base power set is comparable to Martian Manhunter do you understand?”
“Constantine”
“This literal child usurped Pariah Dark Batman.”
Batman blinked as that name held no weight for him.
“Pariah Dark was a ruler so cruel and powerful that he was banished by his own subjects. The only way for power to change hands is via single combat but no one could do it.”
“Constantine?”
“Until the new king broke him out of his sarcophagus and promptly handed his ass to him! Rumors are that he’s not even full grown yet!”
“Constantine!”
The magic user paused, snapped out of his hasty exposition.
“The boy is still resting and hasn’t woken up yet. In the letter we received we were told that this is the safest place for him to recover. I’m sure that whoever is in charge is doing everything they can to keep the child safe.”
Just as Batman was about to continue to explain how he managed to get in this situation Jason exited the elevator to the bat cave.
“Yes I promise he’s nice. No, he dresses like a bat to scare bad guys.”
Danny who was holding tightly to Jason’s continued to rattle out questions.
“Who is that?” Danny asked as he pointed towards Constantine who looked thoroughly confused.
“This tiny tyke is the Ghost King? Oh come on you’re pulling my leg or something spooks.”
Constantine then addressed the boy
“You defeated Pariah Dark single handedly?”
Danny replied to his questioning with a crinkled look of confusion.
“… Ghost King? …Pariah Dark?”
Realization dawned on Constantine.
“Was he reduced to his core?”
Jason replied with another question.
“Is that why he looked like a fancy rock?”
A beat of silence filled the room.
“I can’t help you with this. Let me know when he remembers enough for me to grovel for the sake of this dimension.”
Constantine made his way towards the zeta tube and swiftly left.
Danny blinked a few times, processing the strange man and his strange questions before letting go of Jason’s hand.
“Where are you headed kid?”
“I’m thirsty.”
“There’s not much in terms of refreshments down here how about we- hey woah don’t drink that!”
It was far too late Danny had phased his hand through the container holding several large ampules of a glowing green liquid. He snapped off the top at the scored break point and began to drink it.
“Danny! Danny spit that out right now!” Jason hurriedly approached.
“Why? It’s good! See?”
Before Jason could protest Danny offered some of his drink to Jason.
Despite his best efforts he smelled some of the unidentified liquid. It smelled … really good. Before he himself or Bruce could stop him, he took a small sip. It was sweet, citrusy and effervescent. He took another sip before finishing the whole thing. It lessened a headache he forgot he had.
“Heeeey! That was mine!”
Jason regarded the boy who looked at him with intense betrayal.
He reached into the containment unit and uncorked another ampule with some effort and handed it to him absently, still confused as to what just happened.
This is the second time this week Bruce has been genuinely shocked by something. He did not like this feeling at all. He looked forlornly at his samples that had just been raided like a fridge. He let out a long sigh.

Things I like to think about for Keegan
(Huge ass ramble, so be aware of a yapping session 🗣🔥)
Even though we don't know what the Ghosts members' parents look like, I like to think that Keegan looks a lot like his mom
Keegan P. Russ, a man born to a beautiful mother and average ahh dad (/j)
I actually feel like maybe Keegans parents were actually pretty good-looking. Or at least leaned towards being attractive, like seriously take a good look at Keegan and tell me he has bad genetics (he doesn't)
Prob got his facial structure from his dad or sum, however genetics work. But his eyes? Hair color? Definitely his mom. So imagine Keegans mom, a rough image of her, then Keegan standing right next to her. Just 2 pairs of blue eyes staring into your soul.
They look like twins, man 💀
Nah, cause imagine blue-eyed Keegans mama holding baby Keegan himself with eyes that are grayish-bluish (babies can have different colored eyes when they're born. I had gray eyes instead of brown in the beginning in my case) and they're both just...staring.
Okay maybe Keegan got his emotionless stare from his dad, or maybe it's the aftermath of the whole Sand Viper mission he experienced back in his early days (bet ya forget the mf is basically old compared to most of us). I think his mom's eyes may have carried a type of confidence, a type of softness in them (that's why his Keegans dad fell in love with Keegans mother fr /j)
And yeah Keegans dad has brown or hazel eyes lololol. Plus brunette or very dark colored hair. (He and his son do look related, he's not completely the odd one out)
Great, now I wanna hold a baby version of Keegan in my arms 😔 (I feel like he was lowkey a very vocal baby. Always whining and babbling, not crying, just making sounds. Definitely loved his mom a lot more than his dad though)
Can't be too sure about his childhood though. I think maybe he came from a semi-broke family, yeah his parents loved him and each other (maybe Keegan even had some siblings. But he strikes me as an only child due to how quiet and mature he is, an only child like me fr). But yeah, I feel like he had a bit of a rough upbringing in terms of a financial situation. Makes sense as to why he would be in Sand Viper as a barely 15-16 year old highschooler.
Speaking of which, how could Keegan even be 16 at the time of Sand Viper? You have to be at least 17 to even be able to join. Like, for the National Guard, you can join as a junior in high school, but only when you turn 17. So, in a way , it doesn’t make sense as to how Keegan happened to be there at an age below 17.
(maybe he got stuck there and decided to fight with the others cause they weren't able to evacuate him like everyone else or sum, or make him go back to the hospital where all the civilians were. I forgot a good portion of Sand Viper)
(And during this time he maybe met Ajax who was of a proper age to even be there, since he was 17-18 or so)
I know the devs didn't pay too much attention to his birthdate, so it's pretty messed up when someone does actually pay attention to everything and his life timeline 💀
Could it be possible that they accidently messed up his birth date (head)canonically? Like, my mom's birth date is messed up on her drivers license, and I'm pretty sure her ID also has the same thing.
Imagine some guy accidently inputted the wrong date for Keegan in some sorta military database and didn't even realize nor bother to change it 💀
Stupid I know but yeah, the devs fault on that part to mess up his age like that cause you literally CANNOT be on the battle field as a 15-16 year old, especially in the USA since I'm pretty sure child soliders don't exist here anymore.
But yeah, that's pretty much it
Thanks for reading

Able strikes me as… the kind of person that does things right naturally. Like for the carnival AU, I bet in real life he was just good at everything without even trying. Everyone likes him, he’s just great in his own, I bet him and Caine even look similar, like the kind where the real only difference is maybe height, and style.
Caine is the younger brother that is jealous, he is extremely jealous even if he doesn’t want to be. He wants to be content with himself, but it is so damn hard with a sibling that even unintentionally looms over you. Getting mistaken for them at places, and when people meet you it’s always “Oh you’re Able’s brother” or “oh I hope you’ll be like him” and it’s a little flattering but mostly discouraging mentally. He wants to be like Able, but he knows he can’t.
Like a couple years back when my sister graduated a year early in high school, literally a cyber expert by the time she got out, and already years in on collage work, meanwhile I was your average struggling student, so even though she’s my favorite older sibling, we look similar, sound similar, hell, some people have mistaken me for her but with shorter hair. I know that having someone loom over you like that, someone everyone likes, everyone loves, and is just better in every way, it makes you go to the darkest places at times.
And that’s just me— from what you’ve said of Caine’s family, they just seem toxic. Caine if five times better than me and even my older sister who’s amazing, he knows so many languages and is so awesome in general, yet his parents have the nerve to do his. Sometimes I feel like I’m in a fucked up yin-yang sibling story, so I can really sort of relate to what u assume Caine is going through. It’s hard when you have similar interests, looks, and so much more with someone, yet everyone just loves them, and not you, and you have no clue why. And you want to be proud, you are proud, you’re happy, but some part of you deep inside just wishes you didn’t exist, or that the person you’re always compared to didn’t exist, so then no one would be able to compare you. Sometimes it’s obvious, people saying the differences, other times it’s fully a mental thing, I never was compared to my older sister by parents, but it’s a like a part of me knew that I was insignificant.
If it’s anything like the personal relationship I have with this person in my life, Caine and Able are close, but there are moments where it just bubbles through, the destain and/or harsh thoughts finally get to the surface of the water. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an argument because Caine snapped at Able and started talking about how damn great Able is to everyone. My older sibling seems a bit like Able, and she never was forced into being perfect, it’s just natural for them. It’s a rocky relationship, when you know you love that person, that sibling means the world to you, but there’s that envy in part of you. I would sort of like it if this is expanded on more, maybe just a bit because I find it somewhat personal, you don’t have to, but I think it would be interesting if this was specifically shown somewhere. Siblings relationships are tough, but I personally know that… this particular style, the kind of sibling relationship I have with that one older sibling and the relationship Caine and Able have, is extremely hard. Because it never goes away, that spite and the small bit of hatred, but you just have to live with it, you blame yourself for your shortcomings, it never leaves, but you still stay close. They’re still your favorite person, still someone that you feel like you can share everything with, and you learn that you can’t get over those bad feeling, they just exist.
…I really need to stop writing when I’m half asleep. Might continue on how Carnival Pomni is similar to me, next time I’m half asleep and typing/j
*pat pat* it will definitely be touched upon... Im too proud of Caine's writing to leave him in the dark... Im so happy you relate to him that way, and Im sorry to hear how rocky your relationship is with your sister. Best of luck to both of you <3

hi, I saw that you came back and if you don’t mind, I also want to ask you to write a one shot with seong taehoon x reader where the reader admits to her boyfriend that her stepfather (maybe someone else, it’s not so important) sexually harassed her and maybe tried to go further (if you know what I mean), how he would behave (this is a pretty tough request, so if it’s too much and you want to write it, then everything is okay)
⩇:⩇⩇ — finding out
⤿synopsys﹕ seong taehoon finding out that his lover's stepfather sexually harassed them and even tried to go further.
⤿character﹕ seong taehoon x gn!reader
⤿genre﹕ hurt/comfort(?), angst-ish
⤿warnings﹕ lower case, tons of cursing, upsetting themes/topics, mentions of sexual harassment and neglectful parenting, reader's got a bad relationship with their family, used the word “manipulated” once at the end but not really in a bad way?(pls inform me if I forgot something)
⤿note﹕ hello, I'm back! (again) I'm sorry this took so long. I honestly didn't know how to write this. I wrote a fanfic format but I can't seem to write it so I changed to this hc type of writing instead. I find this quite hard to write but I managed to finish it. kinda rushed. not proofread.
→ you were staying at his place for quite some time now.
→ before, you'd only come crashing by every once in awhile, but lately, you have been staying the night, and would often hangout all day at his place recently.
→ he knows that you didn't really have a good relationship with your mom and step-father, but never asked why. taehoon thinks that he should wait for you to open up instead of trying to force you to because he didn't want to push you away and possibly make you close yourself off even further.
→ ever since he learnt that your family situation isn't the best, he started being nicer to you compared to before, although he was still the same teasing and condescending jerk, he held back from bullying his sweet little lover.
→ just like the past few weeks, you're currently laying beside him on his bed, soundlessly asleep in his arms. taehoon was nearly about to doze off, when all of a sudden, he heard you whimper in your sleep, sounding like you were in pain.
→ taehoon froze, observing you for a moment just in case he was only hearing things, but you did it again, this time, with a sniffle following it.
→ he immediately pulled you closer against his chest and began whispering comforting words by your ear, accompanied by soft pecks on your head and temple.
“It's okay, you're safe. I'm right here.”
→ once you calm down, he sighs and starts caressing your upper arm, rubbing soothing circles on your skin.
→ when you woke up and finally registered that you were safely tucked in his warm embrace, you couldn't help but begin to cry, letting out all your pent up emotions.
→ he didn't say anything besides the occasional sweet words he'd whisper against your hair as he hugs you tighter than ever.
→ it lasted for a while. your cries and sniffling were the only sounds resonating within his quiet bedroom.
→ when you calm down, you apologize for crying to him, but he just pinches your cheek gently, telling you not to worry about it.
→ the moment you feel your chest lighten a bit and his warmth, you slowly spoke up, finally letting it all out in the open for him to hear. you told taehoon about how shitty your stepfather is, how terrible and vile that man is to the point that he didn't even deserve to be called human.
→ you basically poured all the things you've been bearing alone, telling your boyfriend about how your stepfather tried to force you into things you didn't want, things that made your skin crawl and your stomach to crunch in pure disgust.
→ and let me tell you, the moment you told him about the horrible and disgusting things that bastard did and tried doing to you, he only saw red, his mind going blank, only thinking of different ways to make that shitty asshole pay for what he made you go through.
→ of course he held back, at least, for the time being, only listening to your words and letting you open up to him while holding you protectively. all the stories you were telling him made his blood boil. he just wanted to beat the living daylights out of that stupid stepfather of yours.
→ the moment you're done, he comforts you for the rest of the night while simultaneously trying to calm himself down.
→ be ready for what comes next after he finally found out about what you've experienced. he will, without hesitation, march into your house and beat the shit out of your father.
→ one day, you'll just find out from your mother that apparently, a "burglar" had broken into the house and your stepfather was "unfortunately" the only one home and got beaten up when this person had caught sight of him and decided that he should be threatened to keep shut about what happened.
→ you had an inkling feeling that this mystery person was somehow linked with your lover, but when you went to ask, subtly of course, he seemed to have not known anything so you just dropped it. (of course taehoon was only acting innocent from all of it, thinking that it would be better for you not to know.)
→ it was also safe to say that you have been practically adopted by his father and now, you were going to start living with the seong family, no buts, no excuses. that decision is final and already set.
→ hansoo considers you as his child now, even if you and taehoon are not married yet, he says that it'll happen someday anyway so it was no problem having you live with them.
→ when you stopped rejecting the offer and began living with them, finally, taehoon would sneakily manipulate you into cutting off ties with your shitty stepfather and your neglectful mother without you realising it. he may or may have not also threatened them into not contacting you ever again.
→ not to mention that if he was soft with you before, he became even more so now. He would still tease you but he stopped throwing rude remarks. he started showing you more that he does care and how he loves you. even if he found it quite embarrassing, he'll gladly say “I love you” more frequently if it makes you happy <3

Spoiled Memories
The sound of your favorite song drowns out the sound of your heavy breathing. Life in Haddonfield had become too much once again. Your mind was clouded with thoughts of what happened earlier.
"Do you know Michael Myers?" Dr.Loomis asked Y/N as she sat across from the 'shape' as some call him. "Yes sir.." Her voice had gotten quite like usual. "Would you like to elaborate?"
"We were friends in Elementary."
"Good friends?" This has peaked the Psychiatrist's interest; the only friend Michael was known to have was his mother.
"I guess he was my only friend besides family. We spent all our time together if that's what you're asking."
Your head began pounding from the lack of oxygen, as you rest your hands on your knees to catch your breath a deep sense of sadness washes over you.
Michael wasn't someone you could forget, he was your best friend. After leaving Haddonfield you weren't the same for years. Once you finally got your grounding your brother had gone missing and no one seemed to care. You'd gotten your breath of fresh air and you suddenly began drowning once again.
Slowly you started to jog picking up the pace as your nose tingles and you feel tears coming. It wasn't fair why did all of this happen to you? Wasn't your parents leaving you bad enough? What did you do to deserve such pain?
'Everything is going to be fine. I'll find him and leave this town and it's dark past behind.' You told yourself in order to not lose all the progress you had made over the years.
Your quick run had come to an end at your doorstep where Elvis was waiting.
Sitting in bed Y/N began to think if everything was truly worth it. Her phone showed 4:25 AM which lit up her dark room. Deciding the money was worth it she dragged herself out of bed.
"Hey Isabella." You say with a yawn as your friend groans loudly while setting her bag down. "I just wanna go home." She whines while leaning back against the wall. "What if we just quit and leave?"
"You have to meet Michael again today don't you?" You nod while sighing loudly. "Don't get murdered shit girl. You aren't getting paid enough for that."
To start the work day the girls made their way down the hall towards the dining room. Like usual it was mainly empty, breakfast wasn't a popular meal in this place. Most people preferred to sleep instead of eating the mush they serve.
"So where are you took next week off right?" Y/N nods while setting a cup in front of a patient. "Yeah I'm leaving town for a couple days. Can you still watch Elvis?"
"Absolutely I've been dying to see your house. I heard you moved into that two story out on Benlumpkin road. That place is massive compared to my apartment."
Y/N's palms start to sweat as she stands outside the double doors.
"He's in his room today."
"Hm?" She turns around to see Dr. Loomis with his hands behind his back. "He wouldn't come out of his room. So I was hoping you could speak to him. It might encourage him to speak once again after such a long period."
"I guess I could.." Picking at the skin around her nails while walking next to the doctor. "Don't worry I'll talk to Mrs. Shalley to give you a raise." The silence between the two grew loud as they reached the end of the hall.
"Ladies first." Y/N walks through the steel door and into Michaels room. "Hey.." The room was more silent than ever. Y/N takes the opportunity to look around the room. Masks cover the walls, each one different from the last. "Remember that one you used to wear as a kid?"
Tracing her finger along a mask before walking over to the desk where Michael was sitting. The one on the table before him was solid black. "What's up with this one?" He doesn't even notice her or pretends not to.
Moments of silence pass before Y/N walks over to the door. "Doctor Loomis I don't see this benefitting anyone." He'd been standing in the doorway watching the awkward one sided interaction. "Do you think he'd harm you if he had the chance?"
Thinking about it Y/N answers. "Probably not but I haven't seen him since her murdered a bunch of people, so maybe. Why?"
Dr. Loomis shuts the door with her inside. "We're going to try something new!" The demented man says through the thick metal door. "What?! I didn't agree to this!" She whisper yells in anger in the sudden betrayal. "Don't worry the guards are right outside. Try to get him to speak! We'll give it thirty minutes or so and see what happens."
"If you don't let me out of here right now I'll sue." The doctor puts his hand to his ear to gesture that he can't hear. "You heard me two seconds ago! Let me out!" She slams her hand on the door before noticing the shift in the eyes of the man in front of her.
Y/N turns around to be met face to chest with Michael. "Damn." It was an automatic response to the giant in front of her. "Shit dude. You can't sneak up on people like that."
Going around the side of him Y/N takes a closer look at his room. "These people want us to talk y'know? Like that's gonna help you barely spoke when we were kids." After not receiving a response as expected, she turns around to see the monster in the same spot.
"I don't know what to say.." She trails off with a sign. "I never do."
Attempting to keep the silence at bay Y/N speaks up again. "Do you remember that day we met, when I snuck into the boys bathroom?"

Max Fox x Reader - Headcannons
this is for all the max fox girlies out there. if you're a mikey madison fan and haven't watched better things just for her, shame on u.
this is likely going to contain max snippets from every season, so don't read if you care about spoilers.
GO WATCH BETTER THINGS!! seriously it's a really good show about a single mother raising three daughters.
also, LOOK AT BABY MIKEY. LOOK AT HER.
Pre-relationship
when max isn't with paisley or her boyfriend of the week, she's with you
you're the most chill of all her friends so she hangs out with you mostly when she doesn't feel like causing her mom an aneurism
sam loves you more than max's other friends
you always thank her for her hospitality and do the dishes for her if she cooks when you're around
max's favorite thing about you is that she doesn't feel the need to worry about if you think she seems cool or not
you love watching old movies with max because she always has such thoughtful comments on the cinematography
you always arrive early to her band's gigs just so you can cheer her on from the front row
you are max's personal Lyft driver when you get your license (sam is thankful that the bill has gone down significantly)
How you catch feelings
you fall for max first
your feelings for her start when she begins opening up to you about her dad and how much her parent's divorce has affected her
she tells you about the jealousy she holds for how much she has to share her mom with her mom's job and her two sisters
she also opens up about how she has no clue what to do once she graduates
you tell her that sam loves her just as much as she did before her sisters were born and that there's no rush to decide what path she wants to choose post-graduation
you realize your feelings for max when she surprises you by playing your favorite song on the guitar
the smile she gave you after she finished playing made your heart leap into your throat
you knew you had it bad for her after that
Unrequited feelings
you're too much of a chicken to admit your feelings to max because you don't want to ruin your friendship
you are horrified when she starts dating the 34 year old man, you tell yourself that it's not because you're jealous, but because max is only 16 (it's definitely because you're jealous)
max cried on your shoulder when she learned her dad had stood her up on her graduation day
you threaten to train chewy to bite him for the next time he shows up to interrupt her life
she laughs and your heart skips a beat at the sound
when max tells you about her decision to go to college in Chicago, you try not to cry (let's pretend you chose to go to college somewhere in LA)
you do cry when you drop her and sam off at the airport on their way to Chicago (cry is putting it lightly, you full on sobbed into max's shirt)
Other people notice your feelings
with max off at college, you have a hard time figuring out what to do with yourself when you aren't attending classes
you take to moping around the fox's house
frankie is the first to catch onto your feelings for max, after seeing you sniffle pitifully into a carton of ice cream for the third weekend in a row, they figured you must've loved max more than you let on
frankie doesn't say anything to you about their realization, concluding that you probably hadn't yet registered that you harbored more than friendly thoughts for max
sam doesn't question why she keeps finding you fast asleep on her living room couch, so she remains none the wiser about your love for her daughter
when max calls you crying one night and tells you about how she doesn't think college is right for her, it takes everything in your willpower not to encourage her to hop on the next flight back to LA
you tell her she has to make the decision on her own but that you will wholeheartedly support her either way
when she does return, you don't even hide how ecstatic you are
the pain of hiding your feelings for her does return, but it's nothing compared to how heartbroken you felt while she was away
when she starts dating olivier, you feel more depressed than you do jealous
max notices your more frequent sad moods and her heart pangs dejectedly whenever she asks if you're okay and you brush her off
you feel lost and decide to confide in rich about your love for max, you always thought he was such a good second dad to her
he isn't fully surprised at your feelings for the other girl, having sensed that something more was likely going on between you two
he's so happy that you decided to tell him and offers you words of advice that he had picked up from being in similar situations to yours
from that moment on, he's silently rooting for you and max to get together
Max realizes her feelings for you
with her new love for photography, she innocently invited both you and paisley to model for an idea that she wanted to shoot
paisley agrees excitedly while you agree with more reluctance
the pictures with paisley turn out great
when it's your turn, max is in utter awe at how gently your beauty comes across in the photos
you fit the image she had wanted to capture so perfectly and as she continues to photograph you, her heart thumps wildly in her chest
the slow groundbreaking realization of the love she so deeply holds for you creeps up her spine
she pushes you away the next week and the week after that, filled with panic
now that she has figured out how she feels about you, she knows she'll never be able to hide it from you
you feel hurt that max is avoiding you, but you figure it's because she's spending more time with her boyfriend (max didn't tell you that she had broken up with him directly after the photoshoot)
max tells rich about her feelings for you and he only just barely manages to hide his joy at the news
he reassures her there's nothing wrong with the way she feels about you and that her family would accept and support her regardless
after a week of gathering up her nerve (and a third week of avoiding you), she reveals her feelings for you to sam
sam is shocked but reassures max that she is so happy and proud
when max falls asleep for the night, sam rushes to frankie's room for advice on ways that she could be there for max
Confession
one morning, frankie urges max to confess to you
needless to say, max is pissed at sam for telling frankie
a big fight starts between the three of them (max upset with sam for telling frankie, sam mad at frankie for telling max that she had told them about it, and frankie yelling at max to just tell you how she felt)
you, completely fed up with being avoided by max, stomp into the fox household to give the girl a piece of your mind
the fighting comes to a halt when you walk in the door, frankie and sam quickly scurry away
just as you're about to speak, max gently grabs your arm and tugs you outside with her
she shushes all your attempts to talk and apologies for avoiding you
she looks nervous and so uncharacteristically max as she takes your hand in hers
when she tells you she was avoiding you because she realized she was in love with you, you nearly forget how to breathe
she looks at you so worriedly while she waits for your response
when you tell her you feel the same, her eyes crinkle in happiness
max leans closer and the two of you share a soft kiss
max lovers you better cause some commotion in the comments!! she needs more love and I won't be silent about it anymore!

Anything for you • Jude Bellingham
Request: one where jude takes care of you when you feel off/bad and the feeling comes out of Nowhere. Like you start to reminisce abt your childhood and it ruins your mood
Genre: angst then Fluff
Don't repost but you can reblogs it
Request are open but I'm a little slow while writing
Enjoy
--
The feeling came out of nowhere. One minutes you were fine the next you were curled up in your bed bawling your eyes out.
Your childhood was filled with so many bad things. Your parents were absent most of the time and when they around they treated you so poorly. You grew up to have a lot of trauma. After you started dating Jude you’ve rarely had any days where you remembered those moments so it was a surprised when you got one today.
The tears wouldn’t stop falling from your eyes. You had no idea how long you’ve been crying for but it was a while. Long enough for Jude to come home.
He had no idea what you were going through. The last time he talk to you on the phone you were fine.
Jude walked into the house; The first thing he noticed was how unusual quiet it was which was rare. Most days you would be blasting music or watching a movie on the couch but you weren’t today. It was just quiet and dark.
“y/n” he called out as he dropped his bags. When he got no response he knew something was wrong.
Jude walked up the stairs quietly just in case you were asleep. He made it to the bedroom door, he pushed it open softly.
Jude was meet with the sight of you under the covers all balled up. He could hear the sound of your soft whimpers coming from under the pile. His heart hurt hearing that.
“baby, what’s wrong?”
He made his way over to you, lifting the blankets so he can see you better.
“no, I don’t want you to see me like this.” You tried pulling the blanket back but it was practically useless compared to Jude’s strength.
“Tell me what’s wrong. Why are you crying? Did someone hurt you?” a million negative thoughts went through Jude’s mind as to why you were crying. He hated seeing you like this and would do anything to see you smile again.
“I had another flashback.”
Jude knew all about your past. You made sure to tell him early on because you trusted him more than anyone.
“Oh darling I’m sorry.”
Jude pulled you into his arms and hugged you close. You sobbed a little as he placed soft kisses on your head and held you close.
After a few minutes your cries turned into hiccups.
“you ok?” he asked as you pulled away from him. You nodded softly and sighed. “yeah, I’m fine.”
Jude smiled at you, wiping your wet cheek with his thumb. “ok. How about we relax? We can watch a movie and eat a lot of junk food, but just don’t tell anyone on the team ok?”
Your laughed filled Jude’s ears making him smile. That’s was the sound he’s been waiting for all day.
“ok.”
Jude got up and went down stairs to grab a couple of things while you picked out something to watch. When he returned he had an arm full of snacks and two spoons in his mouth.
“I got everything I could possibly find.” He said while placing everything on the bed. You smiled and grabbed a couple of bags of candy and brought it over to your night stand.
Jude got under the blanket with you and sighed loudly. “so what are we watching?”
“Lilo and stitch!”
“Oh a classic. I like how you think.” . Jude put his arm around you and pulled you close to him making you giggle.
“thank you for this. I really needed it.”
Jude pouted as he leaned over and kissed your lips.
“anything to make you smile my love.”

"It's not an ability. Yokohama wasn't broken. We are broken. We are fictional characters, who gained self-awareness. Try to remember your lives. Parents, friends outside ADA, what you did yesterday. Give it a try"
🌨️ Junchirou wanted to run away. So, when a few hours passed and Yosano still hasn't come back, Junchirou volunteers to go and look for her. Naomi quietly follow after him.
🌨️ Junchirou was thankful, that the streets of Yokohama weren't mixed up. At least, they won't stumble around like blind kittens.
🌨️ Yosano was at the old warehouse. All crates were destroyed with her cleaver. She goes after Tanizaki siblings without questions.
🌨️ During the search for Yosano and their walk back to the office, Naomi was silent.
🌨️ And then Junchirou felt entity's gaze.
_____________________
Atsushi was asking others if they felt strange presence. Junchirou felt it, but he stays silent. He was ignoring it. He has more important things going on. Naomi looked broken. He needs to help her.
Junchirou managed to make Naomi talk with him. And Naomi told him everything. About feeling less than a human. About been less than ordinary fictional character. That she is sure she never has any connection to reality.
They have a long talk after that. Despite everything, Naomi was his little sister. They were siblings. They cared for each other. And that was the most important thing.
And the entity doesn't matter. It can continue staying outside Yokohama.
And then time resets.
And Junchirou was pretending to be the bomber, holding Naomi as the hostage.
______________________________
When they start feeling your presence
🌨️ Tanizaki was angry. Did you get angry, because he and Naomi reconcile? That's why you reset time? Were you the reason, why Naomi hasn't been considering herself to be a human?
🌨️ But, for some reason, Naomi looked calm. She seems not minding having entity presence in her life.
🌨️ While pretending to be a bomber, Junchirou heard a voice.
"Junchirou [|||||||] good actor. Maybe, [|||||||] not in ADA [|||||||||] become an actor"
🌨️ Why the entity's emotions felt like gentle breeze? Does supernatural entity's have feelings? What are you?
🌨️ After Atsushi's entrance exam, ADA gather in Uzumaki café. The owners looked like puppets with empty eyes.
🌨️ Atsushi, who looked happy and calm, asked if they heard you talking.
🌨️ Naomi and Junchirou nog. But Junchirou hoped that he will never hear your voice again. What if you were the one who almost broke Naomi and then brainwashed her into liking you? And, besides, you were confusing.
🌨️ You don't sound bad. The whole situation were just bizarre. Junchirou hopes he will have some time to think about it.
🌨️ And then, Higuchi lead them to a Port Mafia trap again.
____________________________________
"But to me, Naomi is an entirely different matter. Compared to things like good and evil or selfishness and selflessness...no. There's no comparison to begin with. Just as nobody would compare God with anything, right?"
And there was the voice again.
"good brother" "Naomi is lucky" "Tanizaki siblings do care for each other"
"Junchirou, everyone would be lucky to have you as a brother. You are a good person, brave and kind"
Junchirou felt like someone was petting him.
[In reality, it was you, who touched the manga panel]
______________________________________
🌨️ After Yosano finished treating Junchirou and Naomi, the siblings have another long talk. At the end, Junchirou realised, that you are not a bad person.
🌨️ When ADA and Port Mafia start working together, Dazai start working on training Atsushi and Akutagawa. Junchirou learned, that Dazai try to make Atsushi and Akutagawa your bodyguards.
🌨️ And Junchirou decides that he will find a way to help to protect you. Because you are nice. To him and to Naomi. To their friends.
And then, one day, the purple moon shined above Yokohama.
When you installed BSD Mayoi Inu Kaikitan
🌨️ If earlier Junchirou consider your good, after you try your best to get a SSR Naomi card, now Junchirou is considering you one of the best people in the world.
"Ok, Junchirou, let's clear this stage"
"This Tanizaki siblings card is so powerful"
"Junchirou stamp is so cute"
🌨️ After BSD gang gain access to the game code, Junchirou ask Ango, Fyodor and Katai add something new to the game. Now, Junchirou has his own menu, where he shares recipes with you.
🌨️ One day, he, Naomi and you will have dinner together. And he will keep you safe.
___________________________________
You finish cooking the dish. You recently got Fried Tofu recipe from Junchirou. All his recipes were easy and dishes were tasty.
You saw a notification from your Gift box. It was a note from Junchirou with level up materials attached to it.
"[Y/N], hope you are enjoying the recipes. I hope that one day we will taste each other cooking. Until then. Junchirou Tanizaki"
You smile and choose Junchirou's card. You carefully poke the sprite.
"Thanks, Junchirou. Maybe, one day, we will eat something together"
You didn't notice that sprite looked hopeful.

Some Newsies Headcanons
Jack:
This man 100% pretends to be all brave an tough and then proceeds to cry himself to sleep
Probably afraid of thunderstorms but hides it
Had a horse phase when he was younger (So did Race but not as bad)
Sometimes forgets words for things and decides to make them up (couldn't remember the word for cigar so he yelled at Racetrack not to let Les use his "fire leaf stick")
Still has nightmares about the refuge
That Santa Fe pamphlet is more important to him than most of the people he knows (with the exception of Davey, Les, Crutchie, and Race)
Has threatened to use a lasso to tie Racetrack to the wall at least once, and no, it didn't work
David:
Talks to himself when he's doing things
Can see right through Jack's bullshit/knows when he's pretending to be okay vs when he actually is
Cannot dance but tries
Fidgets with literally anything he can get his hands on
A modern David would cry after watching Dear Evan Hansen
Genuinely doesn't know how to smoke and legit inhaled the smoke and started dying the first time Jack offered a cigar to him
Dresses very formally literally no matter where he's going
Talks about Jack to Sarah because he is very gay and doesn't want advice from his parents
Sometimes questions his gender identity but always forces himself not to think about it because of what his family might think
Crutchie:
I will die on the hill that Crutchie is probably an age regressor, but keeps it a secret because this is Newsies and nobody tells anyone anything
Will beat you with his crutch if you insult his friends
Will apologize after hitting someone in a fight
Claims to hate being carried but does kinda like it
Will go to work even if he's dying of an unknown deadly sickness because he feels bad about others helping him
Race:
This is pretty much canon at this point I believe but Race is transmasc
Spot is the only one allowed to call him "Racer", he will protest if anyone else calls him that
Always has a cigar purely for the sake of having something in his mouth, not because he smokes it
Got his harmonica taken away by Jack after playing it nonstop at all hours of the night
Spot has offered to let him live in Brooklyn and he just kinda said no because he's fine making the walk every day
Acts like an idiot but is actually really smart
Probably hates basically everything about himself but acts like he's the best to hide it because this is Newsies and nobody tells anyone anything
Seriously all of these characters just need to sit down and have a heart to heart
"I can't wait for anything! The doctors call it ADHD- I call it RDHD, because my name is Racetrack!" (Bonus points if yall get that reference)
A modern Racetrack would show Spot that one song from Raggedy Ann, "It's hard to be king when you're short" and get yelled at
Spot:
Gets teased constantly for being short
Constantly looks like he wants to unalive the next person he sees
Steals Racetrack's hat to annoy him
Racetrack compared him to one of those small yappy dogs once and Spot now thinks about it constantly
Aggressively kind to the people he cares about ("DRINK WATER AND GET SOME FUCKING SLEEP, I FUCKING LOVE YOU")
Refuses to explain why he ran away from his family
Despises his real name because "it sounds like an old man name"
Anyways that's all :)
