That would make sense, especially concerning the naming pattern the Hallownest has for its locations. Dirtmouth, Greenpath, and Deepnest, are all made up of two words. Fungal Wastes and Kingdom’s Edge also fit this pattern if you stretch it to include names where the two words are sperate.
The pattern of a location's name being made up of two things that describe it would make sense for Dirtmouth, but instead of the mouth being the well, I think it has to do with the town being the mouth of the kingdom, that you have to pass through it to get to the rest of Hallownest. Besides the well, travelers could also take a stag downwards, or go up the elevator and through the Crystal Peaks; almost every way into Hallownest has you pass through Dirtmouth first.
