God so true about how the misogyny really drags down and robs The Sopranos of genuinely interesting opportunities. Yes the main characters, including some of the women, are misogynists themselves. But like, whether or not they see women as people with inferiority, and whether the story itself does are two separate things. But I see the former dragged out as an excuse so much. "Oh, the show's just telling a story about people who view the world like that. It doesn't think women aren't people, it's a story about characters who think that."

MANY SUCH CASES ‼️ it annoys the hell out of me like if you don't want to tell a story about women who are fully realised people then i can't make you but let's not play coy here ‼️

I've been pocking and prodding at the last chapter of Watermelon Sugar which is mostly an epilogue to the story. Here are some words from it:

"It was amazing. You were amazing." Henry confirms with a kiss to his shoulder. "Sam was amazing and surprising." "She really was. So, you liked her?"  “No Alex, I was performing all night. I’m such an exceptional liar that you never realized.” Henry says, dryly and Alex rolls his eyes, elbowing him on the side. “Ouch.” he complains but chuckles and kisses Alex’s cheek.  “I’m trying to be serious here.”  “All right. I’m sorry love.” Alex feels Henry’s arms squeeze him a little and press him more against his chest. He goes easily, relaxing in his arms. “I did like her, yes. I feel like I could talk to her for hours about books. You were right. She reminded me of myself which was— odd.” “Gross H, that’s so masturbatory.” Alex jokes, scrunching his nose but in reality, he thinks it’s really hot that Henry liked Sam.
