the first thing we see in the movie is stylized hyper violence and then after that each of the 2 remaining instances of gore are brutally realistic and i think that is sooo tasty. it sets a precedent and then subverts it in a way that makes benson’s murders seem even more vicious and cruel <3

#bc we don’t immediately know that it’s the nightmare of a man who feels intense guilt abt smth he did as a child #so it’s like oh okay they’re getting a little silly w it. that’s fine #and then benson shoots chris and the training wheels have been removed. and we can have fun <3 #the passenger #text #i was soooo happy when we got a close up of sheppards face after benson pistol whipped him #his broken jaw and detached lip and exposed teeth…. so perfect #whoever did their practical sfx rlly gets it fs
