Pick a Card Reading: Who is your Soulmate
If you are a hopeless romantic like myself and you wanna know some traits, what your relationship will be like and even a possible meeting place you are in like with this pick a card reading.
Below are pictures of some Haikyuu Team banners, look at each one and decide which one you feel most drawn too (it could be the messages or just the colours) once you have decided scroll down and read your reading.
The banners are in order from 1 to 5 (left to right). I would suggest only picking 1 or 2 banners in order to get an accurate reading . The waltzes are taken from waltzing in a ballroom by Lia Wang on Spotify.
I hope this resonates and have a wonderful day
Carla
Itachiyama (Pile 1)
Personality- what type of person is your soulmate
8 of Cups- your soulmate is always on the go, their life is anything but stagnate and they constantly always on the lookout for a new adventure (which they will happily let you join them). BIG TRAVELLERS, they wanna see the world with you, take some cute couple selfies all that jazz. Cups represent the element of water so I think this person can be quite deep and introspective and is constantly trying to become the best versions of themselves. Will 100% go backpacking with you
The Lovers- this person definitely has an equal split between divine masculine energy and divine feminine energy, being good at logic and emotions. I also got the impression that this person is extremely romantic, like a scene that popped into my head is in the Addams Family where Gomez and Morticia declare their love for another and he (Gomez) kisses her arm, that’s the kind of person they are. The lover’s card shows up in readings when you are asked to be your authentic true self so I feel they are naturally themselves, no persona. Also, they have 100% cried whilst watching the notebook and if they haven’t seen it they will in the future.
Ace of Pentacles- very opportunistic, if they see something they just go for it (including you wink). I feel like they have been very lucky in regards to wealth in their life, either they were born into a rich family or are just very strategic with their money. They may swap careers often in their life or just love the idea of a challenge however what I can confidently say is they are pretty damm cunning and resourceful, leave the money-making to them because they have a natural knack for manifesting wealth and abundance into the physical world. Some people may describe this person as lucky however that is not the case they just know which opportunities to capitalise on. Work smarter not harder energy, just very savvy
Astrology Notes - Gemini in their big 3 (Sun, moon or rising) with some water and earth influences
Relationship- what is your relationship like with them?
The Devil- I promise you they are not the devil however they might as well be because of how much they will spoil you. In tarot, the devil is represented by Capricorn (aka the sugar daddy of the zodiac) so of course they have to indulge in their baby girl/boy. I feel like they low key become obsessed with you not in a creepy way but whenever you are not with them they always find themselves thinking of you or dropping your name subtly into conversations. They want to provide for you, make you comfortable, in their ideal world they do not want to make you lift a finger. Also think you are the most attractive thing to walk on this planet like they get flustered at the thought of you, low key a very big simp. Incredibly passionate in and out the bedroom, I feel like in the beginning stages of your relationship they will try and suppress their desire because they are worried they will scare you off.
If you wanna find out more I suggest reading up on Capricorn Venus because I highly suspect that they might have it in their chart.
How you meet- pretty self-explanatory
Page of Swords- out of all the piles I found this pile to be the vaguest in regards to this question. The energy from this card is new ideas, collaborative work and just general communication. You may meet one another simply through a friend of a friend or maybe you are working on some sort of project together. I decided to have a look at the bottom deck to see if I could find any clarifies and drew the Hanged Man, this could maybe be a passion project (not one for work) in which you meet one another whilst embarking on it. The Hanged Man indicates rest so a time in your life where you are taking a break from the world around you, just having fun and socialising with friends. You will meet when you are feeling care free and feel like you no obligations- a spontaneous outing.
Advice
: Blue Moon - “Believe in the Impossible”
You never know what can happen, the universe may be giving you a rare opportunity in regards to your soulmate
Make sure you believe in it, believe that you are deserving of love
Miss the chance and it might not come back soon
What happens may happen once
Believe in your dreams
The person you are inquiring about is a rare find
Affirmation: I am lucky
Your Waltz: Mystery of Love by Hanah Stater
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aoba Josei (Pile 2)
Personality- what kind of person is your soulmate
The Lovers- this card has come up in ⅗ piles which suggest that many people seeing this reading are destined to have very passionate soulmates. I have always the lovers card to be grandiose and romantic so I feel like this is a primary characteristic to sweep you off your feet. This card is ruled by Gemini so your soulmate is gonna be one smooth mother fucker, mr steal yo girl energy. The lovers is a combination of both divine masculine and divine feminine energy so your soulmate is both very good at being logical whilst tapping into their emotional intelligence. They are naturally themselves and are proud of who they are
10 of Cups- this card aka the happy ending card, I think your soulmate has an idealistic stand point on the world , the image that came to mind was Sugawara from Haikyuu shouting Negativity begone. I think this person radiates calm energy, I just imagine them to have a very soothing voice. This is the kind of person you could confidently bring home to meet your parents (in which they would automatically love them). Also I feel like family is very important to them, mummy’s boy or daddy’s girl vibe, I can imagine they are also extremely good with kids too and maybe have some career which involves this. Very protective of their loved ones honestly as I am writing this i am literally gushing, this person is the sweetest bean alive.
3 of Pentacles - all I could think about when I drew this card was how incredibly hard-working your soulmate is. Pentacles is all about the physical world so your soulmate definitely has one hobby they are super passionate about (sports or something creative) which they love to spend time on. This card is an indication of teamwork so your soulmate is a huge team player, making sure that everyone is alright before checking themselves, they naturally bring people together and perhaps others view them as a leader. Also not a procrastinator by any means, they love the feeling of completely goals and ticking off their to-do lists in which they encourage friends and lovers to do the same.
Astrology bits: Gemini in their big 3 (Sun, Moon or Rising) with some cancer and earth influences
Relationship- what is your relationship like with them?
Judgement- I promise you that it does not mean they are going to judge you actually I do believe this is the exact opposite. The judgement is a very heavy card in the sense that it represents spiritual awakening and revolution, your soulmate 100% believes you were the missing piece in their life. You have changed their life for the better. I feel that this soul connection is based more on deep emotional understanding rather than physical attraction. Your romance is that 50k word slow burn fic with the friends to lovers, mutual pining and comfort tags. I know that you cannot see it but on this card you see two people looking up towards this beautiful angel and I am can confirm that this angel is you. Your soulmate views as the person that set them free as you offered them new life perspectives. Perhaps your soulmate uses the pet name “angel”. If I could describe this relationship in one word it would be Ethereal.
This person may have a Scorpio venus or venus-pluto aspects in their chart.
How do you meet?
10 of Wands- The image that I first thought of when drawing this card was like cramming for a final week or something and you both meet one another at a library or something however this might not be for all of you. I can tell you however you will be meeting them under a time of great stress, perhaps you accidentally volunteered to do more overtime or you have a presentation due very soon, you are most likely going to be in a state of fatigue (and be very flustered) when you first meet. Just from their nature, I imagine they will help you carry the wands or in this case the ever drowning work. 10 is the number of completion so you may meet them in a point in your life where you have nearly completed a goal (them being that final push to do it) or it could represent month number 10 like October.
Advice
Waxing Moon - “the energy is gaining momentum”
The Situation is full of potential- your soulmate may be near
You may need to take more action on your part
Keep moving forwards
Universe has given the green light so just go for it
Your dreams can come true
Affirmation: I know I’ve headed in the right direction
Your Waltz: Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy
-----------------
Inarizaki (Pile 3)
Personality- what kind of person is your soulmate
6 of Cups- this card in tarot represents nostalgia and familiarity, I feel your soulmate definitely likes their home comforts, perhaps preferring to have quieter dates rather than over the top ones. For some reason I just imagine them being a hoarder of some kind, like any little trinket you get them they will keep it or they might be into scrapbooking. They love to keep their memories close. Again I feel like they are really into history and would love to take you to a museum or perhaps a historical castle, they give me dark academia vibes. I feel like your soulmate had to perhaps grow up too quickly and perhaps through this connection they hope to find their inner child again (which I believe you will definitely bring out in them)
Queen of Pentacles- not be a simp or anything but your soulmate is one of the most caring and nurturing people ever. A scene that plays in my head is that after a really long day you come home from work or whatever and they are just there cooking you your favourite meals and being like “welcome home sweetheart”. Whilst the Queen is a caring figure we do have to remind ourselves of the Pentacle energy. Your soulmate does prefer the finer things in life, taking you to bougie restaurants or having a mini spa day together. They do like to live a luxurious life and believe you should too, never settle for anything less. Your soulmate is definitely a tidy person and knows how to keep their life nice and orderly and finds joy in organisation, also probably quite a private person. Even though the Queen court card represents feminie divine energy I feel like your soulmate has an even split of both masculine or feminine energy they are good at both logic and emotion.
Page of Cups- this is one of my favourite cards in the deck, the page of cups represents someone who perhaps sometimes has their head in the clouds and can be a little bit innocent. Your soulmate is naturally very creative and takes inspiration wherever they go, for some reason I pictured them being into to photography but that might not be the case for all of you. Also I believe they may refer to you as their muse, you know the anime duos where there is the light and the shadow, the shadow helping the light shine and getting inspiration for them to keep going (think Akaashi from Haikyuu or Kuroko from Kuroko no Basket), I feel like your soulmate is your shadow helping you cast you light into the world. I feel your soulmate does have a hard time to express their emotions so doing so using a creative medium really helps them. The type to make handmaid gifts for their friends on their birthday.
Astrology Notes: Taurus in their big 3 (Sun, moon or rising) with some water influence
Relationship- what is your relationship like with them?
The Chariot- this is not the most romantic card in the pack however there is one thing I can tell you about your connection your soulmate is devoted, they are the CEO of long term commitment like your relationship gives me the same energy as Carl and Elle from Up, just very pure and filled with love and support. The Chariot represents self-control and focus and a funny scene that popped into my head was your soulmate being kind of prudish at first when it comes to the more physical aspects of your relationship, they get easily embarrassed however I feel like their love language is acts of service. You will 100% be their focus in their life, they do love to spoil you rotten with attention and want to be your protector. They may be a little bossy but they just want to see you thrive, like they may leave little notes to remind you how much you love them. The kind of people to make an itinerary for a date because organising things for you is their love language. Overall, a very sweet relationship based on kinds acts of service, the married couple before being married.
Your soulmate might have a Cancer Venus or Venus-moon aspects so if you want some further detail you can read up on those
Where you will meet- pretty self explanatory
The Hanged Man- Because this is a major arcana card I feel you meeting your soulmate will be quite a significant event in your life. The Hanged Man represents a time for letting go and a time of delay, perhaps you will be meeting your soulmate during a time where you are letting go of the past, this could be getting over an Ex, letting go of negative thoughts or even changing careers. I also got the image of you both meeting when you are volunteering, doing something for the community as this card is ruled by the planet of Neptune. Maybe be relaxing and doing something creative could be potentially when you meet them, ie: dancing, singing. I do know that it is during a time when you are moving on from something or your life has entered a limbo stage, nothing exciting happening. I wanted to see if I could find any clarifiers to this because I thought it was too vague and the bottom deck was the Devil Card, perhaps when you start to let go of limiting beliefs about yourself your soulmate may finally appear or perhaps getting over an addiction of some kind. The devil is ruled by capricorn so perhaps a creative project more for work may be potentially another place.
Advice
: New Moon in Leo - “Confidence is the Key to Success”
This is your time to shine so show off your talents
Be proud of yourself, you have come so far
Spoil and pamper yourself because you have earnt it (just like how your soulmate does)
It’s your turn in the spotlight do not shy away from it because you deserve the success and recognition
Make sure you work on your self esteem first before seeking romance
Make time for fun
Affirmation- “ I am compassionate towards myself as well as others
Your Waltz: Once upon a December by Emilie Pandolfi
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dateko (Pile 4)
Personality- what is kind of person is your soulmate
The Lovers: this card has come out in ⅗ piles today so you may have been drawn to more than one school banner. With the lovers card I can definitely imagine your soulmate to be passionate and romantic and wants to recreate all those cute couple things you see in the movies. They have a flair for the dramatics and can be naturally creative people. They are smooth operators when it comes to flirting so you might have a couple of pickup lines thrown your way (which by the way are actually good) this is because the lovers card is ruled by the zodiac sign of gemini in which are renowned to have silver tongues, teasing might be there love language. For some reason whilst writing this interpretation all I could think about was the character Tamaki Suoh from Ouran High School Host Club so perhaps your soulmate kins him.
4 of Pentacles: whilst the other 2 piles containing the lovers card are very authentic I feel like this person sometimes uses their flirty persona as a mask, to protect themselves. Your soulmates are very possessive. I can imagine they have only a select few people who they are really close with and hold them near and dear to their heart. However a good thing about the 4 of pentacles is that this is the card that indicates it’s time to save money so as you can probably guess your soulmate is very good at saving money they may even be a money saving expert (martin lewis is that you). You can bet they know where to get the cheapest things from so if you ever need to go bargain hunting they are your person. I can imagine them being really good at DIY as it is a way to save money. I feel like in the past they may have had low self esteem, you may have also been drawn to Shiratorizawa pile because 4 of pentacles feature in this one too. Probably a tsundere
9 of Pentacles: Your soulmates tagline is confident, independent and self-sufficient. I believe they were 100% the gifted child at school and are naturally very intelligent, and may have a tendency to brag about this too. I feel like this person can maybe be a little high maintenance and perhaps they are perfectionists also. With the number 9 it means not quite completion (seeing as number 10 represents completion), this means your soulmate is always striving to achieve more. Looking at the three personality cards as a whole I think that missing thing in their life is an emotional connection, they are extremely talented in whatever field they work in however they do find it difficult to make friends because they may be slightly above average in lots of areas of life (High IQ or plays a high level of sports). Whilst they may be show offs when in a relationship with you my goodness do they love to brag about all your amazing qualities. Words of affirmation may be their love language
Astrology Notes: Gemini in their big 3 (sun, moon or rising) with some earth influence
Relationship- what is your relationship like with them
The Hierophant- this card may represent the strict teacher figure however for you, you will get to see their much soft side. They honestly want you to have all the success in the world and will be your number one cheerleader. With none of the other piles I never really specified ages and such but for this one I get a clear picture that this person may be a bit older than you, they have more life experiences than yourself. The Hierophant represents tradition so of course your soulmate will court you in the proper manner making sure to always respect your boundaries, a true lady/gentlemen. At the beginning stages of your relationship I feel like your soulmate used to excuse of “study dates” to be able to have a proper chance of getting to know you (as we already have established they can be a bit of tsundere). Your relationship is incredible strong and steady, others may describe it slightly mundane however it is the simple things which make this connection really work (every saturday day nights, cuddling whilst watching netflix and honestly the amount of flowers they buy makes your home look like a garden centre). They want to show you the world and want to be relied upon as it boasts their confidence when they can help you with a task.
I suspect that they might have a Taurus Venus
How you meet
The Emperor- This card being here for me makes a lot of sense just by looking at your soulmates personality (over achiever and incredibly witty). It is also a major arcana card so this meeting will have a great impact on your life or it will be a vivid memory. The emperor represents organisation, structure and achieving your goals. I can definitely see the pair of you meeting in a work setting in which you may both have to do collaborative work. You may meet your soulmate in a time in your life where you are trying to organise it and come up with a long term plan, maybe at a point where you have to pick your college major or perhaps a lots of job offers have just come in. They may even give you advice. If you are planning on going to grad school then maybe you may meet them there. What I can tell you is that your meeting will not be a relaxing one as the Emperor is a bit of a workaholic so after your first meeting it may be weeks before you both have a proper time to wind down and relax. I also got the image that perhaps you see them as the emperor figure when you first meet them, like they could be your boss or a co worker who is top of the class sort of thing.
Advice
: New Moon in Virgo- “A time to give rather than take”
Gradual Improvements are coming in regards to your soulmate
Be of service to others and abundance will follow
Your soulmate is very reliable so try not stress too much
Make sure to stay organised, eat and drink plenty and have a proper sleep schedule
Pay attention to detail
Affirmation: “I am capable, hard-working and ready to complete my goals”
Your Waltz: The Great Fairy Fountain by the Video Game Music Box
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shiratorizawa (Pile 5)
Personality- what kind of person is your soulmate
King of Pentacles- Ambitious, protective and calculated, these are all words to describe the King of Pentacles and in turn your soulmate. Your soulmate is somebody who is extremely driven and has lots of success in their life however this didn’t come from blind luck. They are a very responsible figure and are definitely involved in some leadership role most likely to do with their career. The king is a generous provider so I’d imagine your soulmate has an abundance in wealth, sugar daddy/mummy vibes, gift giving may be their love language because I do feel like they have a serious and aloof disposition. Do not be alarmed by this, they are very caring people however they do an “image” to maintain but if you are close with them you may see them in a more real light. Whilst I was typing this description all I could think about was Kyoya Ootori from Ouran High School Host club so perhaps your soulmate kins him in some shape of form.
5 of Cups- This isn’t exactly the happiest card in the deck but one that means disappointment and having trouble letting go. I feel like your soulmate in the past has been disappointed by people, perhaps they have left them or betrayed their trust, looking at both of these cards I feel like it might have been because they found it hard in their childhood to form emotional connections. This is not to say they cannot do this I believe it just takes time with this person, however you know what they say- slow burns are the best. A message popped into my head when thinking about this aspect of them, I believe they have a hidden creative talent in which they learn to express their emotions through that, the piano was a striking image but it could be art or any other form too. I feel likethey are perfectionists but only because they believe you only deserve the best from them, very touch starved like please give them a cuddle it will make them melt. I feel like over time and as they have grown up they have a realistic kind of approach to the world. Whilst writing this I felt incredible sad for this person, my heart goes out to them
4 of Pentacles- aka the tsundere card, this card makes sense in this in the personality part. This person is incredible protective and loyal to their loved ones as I believe it is hard to get to know them at first but once you do you have one very loyal “bodyguard”. These people are very money savvy and for some reason I can picture them having a career in finance or economics. Can perhaps be a bit frugal with themselves and don’t like to treat themselves often but love to pamper others. This person likes to be in control in all aspects of life and has a very commanding aura about them (which I think is incredibly hot), I believe it brings them a sense of comfort. Lastly whilst they may find it hard at first to be more open more emotionally they are the most helpful souls on the planet when it comes to career, education or even just general organisation, I believe it gives them great joy to help others out in this area as not only does it boast their self-esteem but they love seeing the smiles on other peoples faces.
Astrology Notes: Capricorn in their big 3 (Sun, moon or rising) and may lack water placements in their chart
Relationship- what is your relationship like?
They may have Aquarius Venus or Venus-uranus aspects so check those out for more info
The Fool- the minute I drew this card I literally squealed and had to take laps because this card compared to the personality spread were just so opposite. To but it briefly you make them act like a bit of a fool (not in a bad way), like they are very blushy towards you and at the beginning stages they would get so flustered if you held their hand it is simply adorable. Looking into this card, the fool represents new beginnings, adventure and idealism. You bring new hope into their life, you know those soulmate AUs where everything is black and white until you meet your soulmate and the world turns to colour. I feel like emotionally that is what happened to them forming a union with you. You bring the fun and zest into their life, offering them a chance to relax instead of doing work all the time which they are forever grateful for, you definitely make them feel young again. Not to be sappy but I do believe you have turned their life around, the fool represents new beginnings so your connection will be a massive turning point in this person’s life. Of course, the fool represents fun too so this relationship will be filled with adventures and lots of funny memories, I feel like the pair of your friendship groups will get on really well and that you too will love to tease one another or even give the other a playful kiss. I just sense an incredibly low maintenance light hearted energy and I believe that is a great way to sum up this connection. You free them.
How will you meet
The Tower- looking at this card with the fool card they both make a lot of sense seeing as once rules Aquarius and the other rules Uranus. Whilst the Tower does represent chaos I believe it doesn’t mean bad chaos in regards to your meeting. The tower is very random bringing in live events which change your life, I believe you will meet your soulmate in the place you least expect it the most, like the most random location you could possible think of, a couple that came to my head was the Supermarket, in a Bank or at bagage reclaims (these were just some random locations that pooped into my head when writing this). However this card can also be an indicator of you meeting this soulmate at a time in your life where you are having a massive change, like you could move abroad to a random country, start a completely new career or just when you do something that is a little crazy. Perhaps you are going through something that is chaotic and your soulmate helps you sort it out. With the tower card the possibilities are endless but what I can tell you is that you will very shocked (in a good way) and it will be a meeting you will never forget
Advice
: Mutable Moon - “Nothing is set in stone”
Staying adaptable is the key to success
Make sure you have not become too distracted in your day to day life, stay focused
Stay with it ( don’t lose hope)
Don’t let others lead you estray, your intuition is high listen to that gut feeling
The situation is far from being finalized you have the power
Affirmation: “ I know the best will unfold for me”

Yoru x male reader
Got this idea from a tiktok. btw I have no idea if blunt force can cause a split lip.
Pre-VALORANT Protocol and Kingdom creation, a short time after First Light. This entire thing is a lot of headcanons
Requested: No
Word Count: 2,305
Warnings: making out, cat cockblocking cause she wants food, sparring, split lip, blood, a bit of sadomasochism, bottom & masochist Yoru, sadistic reader, very very suggestive
16+
His lungs were begging for air, his knees were close to giving in, his skin felt like it was burning, his arms were sore. It was no matter of time before he was on the ground again, your foot on his chest. He was starting to like this point of view.
Though he doesn’t get to cherish it much longer because you’re off of him quickly.
“You don’t block properly.” You state, wiping the sweat off your face with the bottom of your shirt. Yoru, despite all his exhaustion, wolf whistles as he stares at your exposed skin. You ignore him, seeing as this one was on you, unlike all the previous ones. “No offense-only can win in my arena.”
“Manly Jackie?” He suggests. Manly Jackie was once a participant of your arena. As most champions with awful alliances, his reign did not last long.
“He was once a champion, yes, but he was beaten by somebody with good balance. Coerce had both good and offensive qualities. Jackie ate shit that match.” You chuckle at the memory.
Yoru shrugs, standing up. Pain sears on his skin when he gets back on his feet, but he ignores it. If he wants to be in your arena, he has to be ‘eligible’. And boy, did he not meet your conditions. “Another round.”
You had to give it to him, he had courage. After all, he’d asked the boss of an arena to train him by sparring. But the courage blinded him; either that, or he just pushed right through the pain.
That ‘First Light’ event had given him a lot more courage than he already had. He had gotten powers from it, and he figured they’d be useful in battle.
You see, Yoru had a lot of connections. He was the guy on the block that always got into trouble, yet he always managed to weasel out of it thanks to his connections. Though most of the trouble was caused by his connections, because that meant that his connections; enemies were his enemies. He was stuck in a loop, getting beat up by his connections’ enemies, then saved by his connections.
That was why he came to you. He wanted to get skills in fighting, not only to avoid his own demise from his connections’ enemies, but also to gain money. Your champions got rewards, and he was running a little low on funds.
It had been a while since the First Light happened, which gave you the right amount of time to decide whether to invite these new ‘superpowered’ people into your arena. You’d decided on yes, but these new people had to meet the conditions that the normal fighters did, skill and muscle.
He had some muscle, along with potential, but you wouldn't admit that; a big ego isn't a good trait for a beginner to have, even though he already had one.
You raise an eyebrow, “Tenth time I knock you off your feet, yet you’re still getting back up. I can tell you’re tired, Yoru.” He loved it when you said his given name, although it was the only one he gave to you. “This time you might just last 5 minutes.”
“I’m fine with lasting 5 minutes.” He winks.
“Sorta pathetic if you do,” You look him up and down and see him shrink under your gaze. “both ways.” Yoru smirks. He likes when you flirt back, though he can’t tell if you mean it.
“Sure you don’t just want to sit down for a while?” You gesture to the couch at the back of the room.
“I’m sure.”
Your living room was more of a gym than anything. Being the boss meant you got a steady income; you had a big apartment. You had a couch, yes, but anything else that’s part of a lounging area was nonexistent. Although, the room didn’t look quite good, with the couch standing out amongst the gym equipment and the kitchen having barely enough working space.
When Yoru first saw it, he questioned it. As the boss, he expected you to have many visits from ‘business partners’ of sorts. He’d assumed you did them in your own home, rather than anywhere else, which is dumb on his end.
"I don't get many visits.” You’d replied, after clearing up the business meeting part.
"I highly doubt that. With the way you look, I figured you got plenty of feminine visitors." He might just have killed his chances with you.
"Feminine, perhaps." Feminine submissive men, that is. He didn't know that, and you didn't feel like coming out to an acquaintance of yours. "But not all that often. Besides, they don’t stay for long.”
You regretted entertaining his perverted head, since that had sparked many more pick up lines from him. At least you believed it did, you didn’t know if he would’ve otherwise.
Yoru barely manages to dodge your punch, though before he can recover, you take his momentary vulnerability to strike again. He doesn’t have the reflexes to react. The air is knocked out of his lungs, and he doubles over in pain, yet he doesn’t tap out. You expect him to, which is why you don’t punch him again, but it gives him a moment to get back at you.
He punches your stomach, but at this point he’s so weak and exhausted that it barely hurts. You’re not one to take pity though. Over the years, you’d learned that mercy did not make good business in an underground job.
This blow is hard, then again all of them are hard, though this one seemed to do something different.
That something is knocking him out.
When he regains consciousness, he's laying down on your couch. You're on the other side of the room, leaning against your kitchen counter and rewrapping your knuckles.
"How long was I out?" He asks immediately, only to find that his jaw aches when he speaks.
"A few minutes." You reply, you don’t look up at him, nor do you seem surprised that he’d woken up. “A bit uncommon, though you’re only a rookie. In a few months, you’ll eat that kind of blow like it was any other.”
"You have no technique, your punches are too obvious, your blocks are easy to break, and you don't know your limits." You list off his weaknesses. “Don’t let that ego of yours get to your head.” They felt more like insults than constructive criticism.
Yoru huffs in frustration, though mentally taking note of them. Thanks to his arrogance, he thought he’d be a natural. Maybe he shouldn’t have asked the boss after all. He licks his lips as he thinks, it’s only then that he finds his bottom one is split. "Hey, (y/n)?" You look at him, he points towards his lips. "A little help?"
You sigh but gesture him to come to you. You take note of how his walk is a little eager as he walks to sit on the stool next to you.
You take his chin in your hand to tilt it up and inspect his lip, though you have no problem with diagnosing the problem. "Split lip."
"You know, I heard that you need to apply pleasure to a bleeding lip to fix it." His tone suggests he's not going to do it himself, as well as something else you definitely catch yet you ignore. He most certainly wasn't saying it innocently, instead, it was quite flirtatious.
"And what are you suggesting?" You can't help but flirt back. He's handsome, which is part of his charm, but you can't say you didn't enjoy beating up his pretty little face earlier; and not in the 'putting someone cocky down' kinda way.
“Put some kinda pressure on my lips.” Yoru elaborates.
You can’t help but laugh a little, “Okay, let me just get a rag.” You move away from him, but Yoru tugs you back, putting a hand on the back of your neck. Before you can say anything else, he kisses you. He's impatient and it's clear, he couldn’t stand you playing around anymore.
The blood from his busted lip would be discouraging, if you weren't lowkey sadistic. On the other hand, Yoru feels pain with every move of your lips against his own. He seems to like it though. He's had his fair share of hook ups, but never had pain been a part of them. It was new and thrilling to feel a sting of both pain and pleasure.
You, with all the experience you have, bite his bottom lip to ask for permission to deepen the kiss, forgetting Yoru's situation. You pull back, fully expecting a whine and complaint, but you find a moan instead. You'd never expected to find a masochist to your sadist, least of all him, but you took the opportunity.
"You liked that?" You chuckle. “Pain?”
"Oh, shut up." Yoru groans. He doesn't like to be on the receiving end of teasing, which is an unlikely pair to his masochism. “But, yes.”
You laugh again, only to take his lips moments after. You're heated in lip lock when you decide you're tired of this position, leaning down is a little tiring. With seemingly no effort at all, you lift him up. Yoru wraps his legs around your waist instinctively, pulling back from your kiss with a gasp. "Hey!" He whines, only to be interrupted by a moan when your hands dig into his ass.
"Now where do you want to go?" You give him a flirtatious smile. "Bedroom, traditional but I can't blame you; couch, more comfortable for the both of us; or counter? High chance of getting bent over." Your words send a shiver down his spine.
He liked this new, flirtatious you. Before, you were a mere connection which he’d gotten from running errands for you every now and then. They were mundane tasks, and as boss, you had to keep your intimidating, serious composure. Naturally, it made him want to crack you, see who you were when nobody was looking at you. Obviously, your personality was not flirting, although at least it wasn’t the aforementioned. Hopefully he’d find out more the next morning.
"Counter." Yoru mutters. He hopes to god that you don't make him repeat himself with the fake excuse that you hadn't heard him.
Thankfully, you don't, instead bringing him to sit on top of the counter. Your hands are no longer on his ass, something he disliked, but he can't really blame you for it. He starts kissing you again, hungry and yearning. His fingers tug at your hair restlessly, legs still around your waist pulling you closer to him.
He wants more, and you’ll gladly give it to him.
You bite his bottom lip again, making him open his mouth with a gasp. You take advantage of the moment, sliding your tongue in his mouth. Your hands slip under his shirt, caressing his skin absentmindedly. The rough feeling of your hand wrap contrasts against your soft yet calloused fingers, yet it felt good all the same. Yoru finds your touch leaving a burning feeling, suddenly finding himself hot and bothered.
He pulls back, much to your mutual dismay. Before you can ask, he takes off his shirt, clearing your confusion. “Oh.”
Yoru laughs, “Oh.” He mocks you.
You tsk, silencing him with your lips before he can tease you further. Yoru’s disappointed by the fact you don’t play with his chest anymore, seeing as he discarded of his shirt for that purpose. He takes your hands and slides them up his abdomen, leaving you to figure out the rest. He’s disappointed when you pull back just to laugh.
“That eager, huh?” Yoru, instead of avoiding your gaze like other people would, looks you head on with a look that says ‘so what?’. It makes you laugh again, “Alright, alright.”
You peck him on the lips, which confuses him a little, until you pepper kisses down to his neck. He groans as you do, hands trailing up to your hair and tugging your head further down. “Jeez.” You mutter, but continue anyway. Meanwhile, your hands trail up to his nipples and play with them. Once again, your hand wraps cause different textures and feelings.
You kiss and bite at his neck, leaving marks. Some of them are stained with blood, though that comes from kissing his cut lips.
Before you can continue doing anything else, though, you hear a meow. Both of you stop and turn to look down, seeing your cat looking up at you two. Immediately, the mood dies down, because you can’t just make out in front of your floofy child.
Yoru unwraps his legs from your waist, allowing you to bend down and reach out to pet her. Instead of accepting the pets, she reaches out to swat you with her claws. Unfortunately, you don’t react quick enough, even with those reflexes of yours. You hiss, clutching your hand. Yoru laughs while you give him side eye with a huff, “It’s her dinner time.”
You move towards the cabinets, where you keep her food. He watches you as you prepare it from the counter.
For a moment, you sit in silence, but he doesn’t like that. "If you can't make fun of me 5 seconds after making out with me, who even are you?"
You chuckle and comply. "You know, if you had chosen the bedroom, the cat wouldn't have bothered us." You think it over for a few seconds. "Well, she would've, but the sound of her slashing at my door would've been drowned out by the bed creaking."
Yoru flushes red, even though he’d actually asked you to tease him. “Then let’s go there afterwards.”
You shrug, “It depends on if you get me in the mood again.”

Femininity in the Harry Potter books
I started writing this essay over a month ago, before (as it felt like) all hell broke loose regarding JK Rowling’s transphobic tweet. As a genderqueer person myself, her comments hurt. I have loved the Harry Potter novels since I was a teenager and have often found solace in both the magic of the story and the magic of the community around these books. So, in immediate aftermath of Rowling’s comments, I struggled with how to engage with this community and these books. At first, I really did not feel like continuing to write this analysis. Now, however, I felt like I at least owe it to my love of this series and fandom to finish it. So here we go:
Last year I wrote a post about how several of the villains in Harry Potter seem to be coded as queer. In that text I also wrote that I sometime would analyse the way femininity is portrayed in the Harry Potter books. Well, studying, work, and writing other stuff got in the way, but now I’m finally getting around to it! This post is definitely inspired by some of the conversations from the excellent podcast The Quibbler, where they lament some of descriptions of feminine characters in the books. So, shout out to them, do go check them out! In this analysis I’m going to lay out several different aspects of what I see as problematic portrayals of femininity in the Harry Potter books: the silly girls, the villainous feminine men, and the (queer coded) feminine evil women.
Now, I first want to focus on what I describe as “the silly girls”. When reading descriptions of girls in the Harry Potter novels, I can’t help seeing how many of them are portrayed in a way that Julia Serano might call “traditionally sexist” (2007, 326). Serano describes traditional sexism thusly:
Traditional sexism functions to make femaleness and femininity appear subordinate to maleness and masculinity. (…) For example, female and feminine attributes are regularly assigned negative connotations and meanings in our society. An example of this is the way that being in touch with and expressing one’s emotions is regularly derided in our society. (…) in the public mind, being “emotional” has become synonymous with being “irrational”. Another example is that certain pursuits and interests that are considered feminine, such as gossiping or decorating, are often characterised as “frivolous”, while masculine preoccupations- even those that serve solely recreational functions, such as sports- generally escape such trivialization. (Serano 2007, 326-327)
That is to say, that which is deemed feminine is seen as silly and irrational. Unfortunately this fits quite well with how a lot of the girls are portrayed in the novels, such as in the fourth novel before the Yule Ball: “Girls giggling and whispering in the corridors, girls shrieking with laughter as boys passed them, girls excitedly comparing notes on what they were going to wear on Christmas night …” (Rowling 2000, 338) This motif of giggling girls returns many times, with Harry even thinking about Parvati that: “[He] was relieved to see that she wasn’t giggling.” (ibid 358) Speaking of Parvati, her and Lavender are continually portrayed as silly girls throughout the series, such as in this moment in Order of the Phoenix:
‘I’ll bet you wish you hadn’t given up on Divination now, don’t you Hermione?’ asked Parvati, smirking.
It was breakfast time, two days after the sacking of Professor Trelawney, and Parvati was curling her eyelashes around her wand and examining the effect in the back of her spoon. They were to have their first lesson with Firenze that morning.
‘Not really,’ said Hermione indifferently, who was reading the Daily Prophet. ‘I’ve never really liked horses.’
She turned a page of the newspaper and scanned its columns.
‘He’s not a horse, he’s a centaur!’ said Lavender, sounding shocked.
‘A gorgeous centaur…’ sighed Parvati. (Rowling 2004, 528)
Here Parvati and Lavender’s apparent crushes on Firenze is portrayed as silly, and their focus on their appearance is probably meant to be seen as frivolous. It is also starkly contrasted with Hermione’s apparent rationality, especially as she is sitting reading a newspaper in the scene.
Now, how about the men in the story, are they not portrayed negatively as well? Well, yes, of course. But when looking at some of the male “villains” of the story, many of them are described as quite feminine as well. In my previous text I noted how this was the case for Lockhart for example, who is described like this when the reader first meets him:
Gilderoy Lockhart came slowly into view, seated at a table surrounded by large pictures of his own face, all winking and flashing dazzlingly white teeth at the crowd. The real Lockhart was wearing robes of forget-me-not blue which exactly matched his eyes, his pointed wizard’s hat was set at a jaunty angle on his wavy hair. (Rowling 2010, 49)
Lockhart is here (and throughout Chambers of Secrets) described as both vain, and quite feminine with his stylish outfits. These traits are part of what marks him out as an unlikable character. I noted above how Julia Serano writes about traditional sexism that traits and interests that are deemed feminine (such as caring about clothes) are devalued. Serano also writes about oppositional sexism, which she describes as the idea feminine attributes are seen as natural in women, and unnatural in men (2007, 326). Similarly, Lockhart’s “feminine” seems to be perceived as abnormal/bad in the story.
Another male villain that is described as feminine is Quirrell. When Harry sees him at the welcoming feast in the first book, he is described like this: “Harry spotted Professor Quirrell, too, the nervous young man from the Leaky Cauldron. He was looking very peculiar in a large purple turban.” (Rowling 1997, 134). Both the nervousness and the turban later turn out to be part of Quirrell’s disguise as one of Voldemort’s agents. The nervousness making him seem less capable of evil deeds, and the turban hiding the fact that Voldemort is living as a parasite on his head. Both of these disguises are interesting in relation to femininity though. Stephen Whitehead writes that as a man one is expected to embody strength, toughness and control over physical space (2002, 189). He contrasts this with how women are expected to embody caution, restraint etc. With Quirrell’s nervousness (and re-occurring stutter) it is quite clear that he comes off as more feminine than masculine. Another thing is this turban that he wears. Based on his physical description Quirrell seems to be a white Englishman (he is described as “pale” when he is first introduced) (Rowling 1997, 80). Later he claims that this turban was a gift from an African prince for helping him get rid of a zombie (ibid, 147). So, it seems established that this turban is seen as strange on him, and that is connected to Africa. The way this is described makes me think of orientalism. Now, what is orientalism? It is a term that is meant to describe the way Europeans have viewed “the Orient” historically and to this day. This often entails seeing people from this region as savage, sexually depraved, but also viewing the men as emasculated and week (Carroll 2018, 121). (I’m referencing this specific book because I happened to have it on hand, but a lot of different people have written on texts on this theme). In story, Quirrell claims that he (the white Englishman) got this turban as a gift from helping an African prince (it should be noted that “Africa” is very vague, I’m here choosing to see it as part of “the Orient”, but it’s not necessarily that). The other characters doubt this story, but it does tie in with the perception of “oriental” men as week (and in need of help). But Quirrell wearing a turban also ties him to this image, and perhaps makes him seem even more effeminate.
Finally, I want to touch on a theme that I wrote also about in the text about queer coded villains in the Harry Potter books, that of the female villains. Here I’ll focus on Dolores Umbridge and Rita Skeeter, and how their femininity is part of what is meant to make the reader think of them as bad. When we first meet Skeeter, she is described like this:
Her hair was set in elaborate and curiously rigid curls that contrasted oddly with her heavy-jawed face. She wore jewelled spectacles. The thick fingers clutching her crocodile-skin handbag ended in two inch-nails, painted crimson. (Rowling 2000, 266)
So, the description makes her sound feminine, but there’s also something off with her rigid curls, heavy-jawed face, and long red nails. This reminds me of how feminist theorist Ulrika Dahl describes that being femme can be queer (2016). By doing femininity wrong, for instance in a way that is seen as trashy, one can come off queer. Another way of seeing this is to analyse the way that Umbridge is described:
She looked, Harry thought, as someone’s maiden aunt: squat, with short, curly, mouse-brown hair in which she had placed a horrible pink Alice band that matched the fluffy pink cardigan that she wore over her robes. (Rowling 2004, 183)
I want to note two things here. Firstly, that she is described as a maiden aunt, that is a woman who is of an age where she should be married with children but are not. Clearly, she’s breaking the expected life pattern of a woman here. Secondly, the way her clothes are described makes her seem girlish, which is the same way her voice is described as on several occasions. Her appearance is not what is expected of a woman of her age. This puts me in mind of what Elizabeth Freeman describes as temporal drag (2000). Freeman writes that when we as children learn how to perform our gender properly, mainly by imitating our parents, we must also learn how to adapt this to our own time. So, while a woman is expected to learn from her mother how to be a woman, she cannot simply copy the mother’s look. Freeman points out that if she herself were to copy the way her own mother looked during Freeman’s childhood (ca 1970) she would not look normative at all. But we can play with this temporal crossing for queer effect if we wish. I do not think this is was Umbridge consciously does, but her femininity does have a somewhat queer effect because of the way it does not fit her age.
So, in conclusion, we can see that throughout the Harry Potter novels, several feminine characters are described in a negative way. Both “good” characters such as the silly girls, and more “evil” ones such as Lockhart, Quirrell, Skeeter, and Umbridge. These latter ones also have a somewhat queer coding. With Quirrell there is also a sort of racialised femininity, with the description of his turban. It is unfortunate that these characters are described this way, however, it rings true to negative stereotypes from our own world.
I’m not sure how to finish this analysis to be quite honest. It makes me sad to find all of these elements in the books that I have loved. But, to be quite honest, it’s possible problematic things in most works of fiction when you start looking. Nonetheless, this last month or so has been tough on my love of the Harry Potter novels and community. Going forward I want to try to focus on the more positive aspects of them, such as the magic this community makes together (while remembering the more negative things of course). I’m not sure how. But I felt like I had to get this text out there first. So here it is.

Reach and Flexibility 3
[[Summary: Chapter three of my regency/Pride and Prejudice Shakarian AU. In which Mr. Vakarian’s feelings for Miss Shepard get complicated. Like the chapter? Consider buying me a Ko-Fi! Previous chapter
AO3]]
Occupied as she was of late in observing Mr. Kryik’s attentions to her sister, Elizabeth Shepard was far from suspecting that she was herself becoming an object of interest in the eyes of his friend, Mr. Vakarian. The party was milling, and it was difficult for her to keep track of individuals, resigning herself to trying to keep an eye on Jane and talking with Liara at the same time, stiff and uncomfortable in the dress that her mother had insisted she wear, Nihlus’ offer remaining firmly in the back of her mind the entire time.
Mr. Vakarian had first scarcely allowed Lizzie to be pretty; he looked at her without admiration at the dance; when they next met, he looked at her only to criticise. But no sooner had he made it clear to himself and his friends that she hardly had a good feature in her face, than he began to find it was rendered uncommonly intelligent by the beautiful expression of her green eyes, animated as they were by discussion of past battles. She had kept in shape even during her ostensible retirement, running in the early mornings, heaving her own body weight to and fro until she had a figure that even Garrus had to admit was both trim and pleasing to the eye. His observations went completely unnoticed for most of the evening, until a turn of his body, the light on his facial markings, revealed him to her.
“Liara, don’t look, but Mr. Vakarian is watching me. Why?”
Much to Lizzie’s consternation, Liara looked, entirely obvious about it, giving the startled turian a wink before turning back to her friend, trying to soothe ruffled feathers. “Only Mr. Vakarian himself could tell you.”
That seemed as much of an excuse as any, and brushing off Liara’s protests, Lizzie marched over to Garrus, looking him square in the eye. “Did you not think, Mr. Vakarian, that I expressed myself uncommonly well just now, when our good friend Mr. Foster was asking me about the Battle of Akuze?” The battle of which she had been the sole survivor, as he would have no doubt found out by now.
A ponderous blink and a flick of his mandibles accompanied Garrus’ careful reply. “With great energy, certainly, but I should think it’s a subject you always warm to.”
Despite mounting annoyance, Lizzie kept her voice admirably calm. “You are so severe, Mr. Vakarian. Is that a turian trait?” She knew full well that it was, but that she was also falling back on ugly stereotypes. He even looked chastened, if just for a moment.
Liara sought an opening and found it, tugging on Lizzie’s sleeve to get her attention. “Colonel Foster has a few more questions about military history, if you don’t mind. I’m sure Mr. Vakarian can spare some time for you later.” Their verbal sparring, short as it was, had brought color to her cheeks, a pink that contrasted sharply with her red hair.
“We have a saying here, on our colony. It’s a provincial one, of course,” and her breath lingered long on that word, “but one I find adequate. ‘Keep your breath to cool your porridge.’ I shall keep mine for a more welcome audience.” She couldn’t resist a final jab, one as spirited as anything else she had said this evening, and then she was whisked away.
The evening quickly passed over to music and dancing. The youngest Shepard sister, Mary, was fairly proficient at piano, taking over the keys and happy to soak in the attention. Lizzie cooled her heels, huddling with Liara and discussing Prothean artifacts, rumors that there could be one on their own little colony homeworld, one that Lizzie dismissed with a snort but that Liara believed in.
“They really did miraculous things, the Protheans, and we still know so little.”
“But why here? What do we have here that would recommend them to our fair soil?”
“Well, we don’t know Lizzie. That’s the point!” It was likely they would have continued that way the entire evening had not a conversation between Mr. Vakarian and Mr. Foster drifted their way.
Drinking something strong enough to make her head pleasantly light, Lizzie was surprised to hear Mr. Foster beckoning her over, a scowling Garrus lurking near his shoulder, looking thoroughly put out, perhaps even embarrassed by the coming conversation. “You’re so light on your feet, Miss Lizzie,” Foster began, “that you surely wouldn’t begrudge the whims of an old man to see you dance again. Though our companion here dislikes all amusement, I’m sure he cannot have an objection to doing the same.” This time, Foster’s broad gesture took Garrus in as well, making him complicit in this… whatever this was. Unpleasantness.
“Mr. Vakarian is so polite. I, unfortunately, am not. I’ll have to pass this dance for now. I find my feet still pain me from our last sojourn across the floor.” Quite unexpectedly, her refusal seemed to relieve Garrus, rather than making him angry as she had planned, and Lizzie turned her head away with an arch expression, hurrying back to Liara.
The eldest Miss Kryik, meanwhile, had joined Garrus after overhearing the exchange, thoroughly amused. When she had met the Shepards the previous day, the Kryiks had gotten on well; they found Jane perfectly charming, though they kept their mouths shut tight against the matriarch of the family, and spoke little of Lizzie. “I can guess what you’re thinking about,” she teased Garrus with a familiarity born of years of acquaintance.
“Am I so open?” He was used to her, even faintly amused by her company.
“You’re thinking how intolerable it would be to spend many further evenings like this, in a crowded colony home, far from Palaven or the Citadel. This nothingness- the self-importance of all the people! Especially of the Shepards.” Her words dripped with venom, hidden behind a face pretty by turian standards, facial markings mirroring Nihlus’ but more distinctly feminine.
“Unfortunately, your conjecture is completely incorrect. I was thinking of the effect of intelligent eyes in a lively face, and how pretty they could make a woman.”
“Surely it’s not someone here. They’re all so very human, Garrus. I trust you wouldn’t share my brother’s tastes. Tell me who.”
“Miss Elizabeth Shepard,” he said, not without trepidation.
“Miss Shepard! And how long has this been going on? When should I congratulate you? Your mother-in-law will not lack for charm.” She tittered behind a clawed hand, searching out for the victim of her jibes, eyes settling on the enormous hat Mrs. Shepard wore and the width of her skirts.
“I have no intention of marrying the woman.” But the rest went uncommented on; it seemed as if Garrus was taking in Miss Kryik’s words, giving them due consideration. His relative composure reassured Nihlus’ sister that her wit was correct and well received, and that they would soon be free of this place.

Narwhal females lack the distinguishing tusks we are inclined to affiliate with the species and are an identical measurement and form to belugas. So it’s simple to think about a beluga male complicated a narwhal feminine for its species, however within the a few years we’ve studied the 2, we haven’t seen different situations of intermingling. Trendy DNA checks are a lot better than the checks scientists used previously (one researcher known as the earlier checks “awful”), they usually even narrowed this specific whale to a 50/50 mixture of the 2 species, making it a first-generation hybrid. Due to their location within the distant Arctic, we monitor the 2 species sometimes at finest, so it’s doable different hybrids exist we haven’t come throughout. However researches suspect it’s a uncommon prevalence at finest. Introductions? Aight!
Hi! It’s so very nice to know that someone out there is taking the time to visit my little corner of the interwebs. Since I am new to blogging I figured it’s simply easier to handle this introduction ‘‘interview’‘ style! Who are you?
Why thank you, precious blog-owner (*wink wink*), for taking interest in me! Let’s see, hmm... My name is Sam (short for Samantha), and I am but an unknown 27 year old from the colder parts of Europe, namely Sweden.
Tell us about yourself, you fabulous thing, you!
Oh, I’d be delighted to. I think first of all I should say that I am not actually this stuck up! It’s just fun to write things in a silly way, after all :)
So, to answer the question: As I said I am 27 years old and from Sweden. I’ve been a transwoman in active transition for 3½ years, but I’ve known for almost two decades. Being a shut-in has been the story of my life for years, but I am trying to reach out into the vastness of cosm-, uh, internet in hopes of meeting others like me and, more importantly, provide help and comfort to those who may struggle with their gender identity, or identity in general! If I am to be perfectly honest I am far from finished in my own transformation and it would never even occur to me to pretend that I know everything there is to know about gender, identity and all that comes with it. I do try though, and I think I’ve picked up my fair share of knowledge over the years. In my spare time I play a lot of PC games, mostly online games, although I do dabble in the occasional single player game that I might stumble upon through a luckly Humble Bundle deal here or there and, well, now I am trying to do some blogging as well. Being creative is something I love, although I never considered myself to have a particularly activate right half of my brain. I tend to lean towards writing when I need a creative outlet, but the occasional (and frankly quite poor) attempts at drawing and painting do happen.
Oh, and most importantly: I absolutely adore dogs and aim to have a mansion with dogs like in the live-action 101 Dalmatians!
So, why the blog?
Marvellous question, darling! Sorry, I can’t help laugh at my own stupidity when I write stuff like that! :) So, there are a couple of reasons why I decided to start this blog. I’ve been thinking about doing a transgender related blog for years, primarily to track my own transition and perhaps find some much needed support to lean on for my dark and gloomy periods. There has also always been this desire to help other transpeople figure things out, be it gender, identity, coming out to family or other things that often is a struggle. Personally I wish I’d had some help early on, other than the over-the-top videos on Youtube. Summing up: I am hoping to help transpeople in all stages of their lives and transition find ways through tough times through down-to-earth and reasonable means, the way a close friends would help each other. To that end I’ll post both serious and silly posts. Some might be basic reminders about our own selfworth, some might be political and some might even be a bit hard to handle. I wholeheartedly believe that to become the person you want to be, and move on in your life when things may seem stagnant or tough, you need to hear things that you don’t want to hear. Some of my posts are certain to cause bad reactions, and I am okay with that as it’s part of the package. As a side note I should probably mention that I am still dreadful at make-up and fashion. I have my own very particular style that I like, but I have very little knowledge when it comes to what clothes help hide masculine or feminine traits, what makes certain features pop and so on. When I write posts for this blog I’ll make sure to do my research first!
Can people approach you through private messaging for advice and questions?
Always! I welcome it. Just remember that as a transwoman I’ve worked hard for years to be treated as a woman and not something in between and I’d appreciate that you show respect and understanding when you speak to me, which seems to be something many struggle with. ----------------------------------------------- A couple of final words, as the ‘‘interview’‘ has been concluded: I don’t use a whole lot of emoticons, other than the occasional smiley face or heart, and sometimes my way of writing may seem stiff or emotionless. Trust me when I say that a lot of thought goes into what I write, and I’d rather seem dull than try to decorate serious posts with ribbons, flowers and fireworks. Power to those that do those things, but we all have our own style. ♥ Thank you (all, I hope) for reading this, and I hope you’ll come back to read my future updates. See you all around!

‘Ocean’s 8’ looks the part but doesn’t have the sparkle
Like a cubic zirconia knockoff of a priceless diamond necklace, this feminine “Ocean’s” replace looks the part but simply ain’t acquired that sparkle. That is irritating, given the glittery solid, headed by Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean (sister of George Clooney’s probably useless Danny). Right here’s a thought: Perhaps generally the concept of a film is sufficient. Bullock teaming up in a heist flick with Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson? I’d virtually slightly depart it at that — all potential, no disappointment. An early cameo right here by Elliott Gould’s Reuben Tishkoff, from these Clooney-led motion pictures, appears to wink at this notion. It’s sufficient to know the job may work, he warns Debbie. You don’t want to really undergo with it. But right here we’re, going by way of with it. Director Gary Ross (“The Starvation Video games”) capably, if predictably, channels the swingin’ soundtrack and magnificence of the Steven Soderbergh “Ocean’s” movies as Debbie sob-stories her approach into parole from a previous con and jumps instantly again into the life. Her associate in crime — and seemingly in love, although solely nodded at in the vaguest, most uncontroversial phrases — is Lou (Blanchett), a nightclub proprietor who focuses on having the coolest bangs ever and watering down the vodka. Quickly, Debbie’s long-planned jewel theft, tied to the Met Gala (and its many superstar cameos: Kim Kardashian! Heidi Klum! Anna herself!), is underway. The method of assembling the workforce of execs is the first trace you’ll must decrease your expectations; it’s the place all earlier “Ocean’s” movies had the most enjoyable, but this screenplay, by Ross with Olivia Milch, depends extra on our familiarity with personas than precise wit. Cool, it’s Rihanna as a blunt-smoking hacker; sure, Helena Bonham Carter’s designer, Rose Weil, does appear an terrible lot like Betsey Johnson, doesn’t she? Newcomer Awkwafina is the most participating, as a card-sharp pickpocket, but even she doesn’t get any memorable strains (and should undergo by way of some Awk-ward Subway sandwich product placement, in addition). Blanchett is usually lowered to slouching round, chewing gum and looking out fierce. Paulson, as the fence, and Kaling, as the jeweler, have few discernible persona traits, but it’s at all times good to see them. The true MVP is Anne Hathaway as the heist’s unwitting aide, preening actress Daphne Kluger, from whose neck the coveted necklace will likely be purloined mid-gala. The orgasmic noises she makes as six kilos of Cartier jewels are latched onto her whereas getting dressed are funnier than any of Ross’ dialogue. (Runner-up is James Corden in a third-act look as a canny insurance coverage investigator.) A plan falls into place, although this one’s acquired some implausible shifting components, like “Get a job at Vogue” and “get employed as a star’s designer.” Maybe the supposition is that ladies simply know how one can get stuff like this carried out. But the movie makes solely occasional overt nods to the gender flip: “A ‘him’ will get observed, a ‘her’ will get ignored,” Debbie says, dismissing the concept of bringing a man on. It’s a effective level, particularly in a movie that includes a whole lot of not-terribly younger girls (none below 30, I consider) sneaking uncommon jewels out from below a throng of youth-obsessed stars and onlookers. And Bullock’s Debbie does give an amazing inspirational speech about doing it for all the little ladies who yearn to be jewel thieves after they develop up. Honest sufficient, although I doubt “Ocean’s 8” will encourage any of them to be.
