Dear Rozie, i hope you’re alright ik how emotionally exhausting it is navigating what’s the “right way” to feel your emotions especially when you haven’t had good examples of self compassion nor empathy shown towards you in ur times of need & it’s especially frustrating when your inner voice betrays you by sounding like someone else with less patience but I’m glad other people have been able to offer you words of comfort i’ve decided to not be such a stranger this time just so you could know who’s been writing you these terrible letters lol if you would like i could stop writing them entirely? idk if they’ve been amusing like I’ve wanted them to be or just annoying haha

yk from the start i did wonder why you decided to write san so calm and stoic. it didnt seem very reminiscent of the san he's supposed to be based off of, but i was curious to see where you went with it - especially since you said early on that he was your favourite character at the time. n now i get it. i figured he'd have some sort of tragic past but they all do, but now im realising he just... still is so soft hearted, sweet, and sensitive, but he just had to bury all that behind a stoic exterior to keep himself safe. idk why this didnt click earlier but smth abt him telling woo he needs all of him just fucking broke me i was like MY SAN.... [SOBS] but yeah i was very much wondering why he started off so calm and neutral and then when they finally talked about it ohhhh my fucking goddddd oh my gODddDDDd hjgnhGNHNNNNN

He thinks of those nights he spent dreaming of your entire family’s demise, of what he would give to be the one to set that kingdom on fire.

But he also sees the broken girl crying over the horrors she committed. He sees your worried gaze lifting him from the sauna’s fog and casting him a trusting glance across the table when trying to trick the mimic.

He sees you knees deep in the mud, begging him to understand that you never knew about the orphanages. Tears in your eyes as the two of you were at death’s door, whispering about how sorry you were.

How can you be both of those people at once? How can you be his greatest enemy, but also the only person he’s been able to tell the truth about his past?

He hates you. He also doesn’t.

Communing with the Virtual

The internet is such a vast collection of incredible time sinks. There are literally millions of different ways to waste your time on the internet or distract you from accomplishing something productive. I am just as guilty as the rest of us when it comes to letting the virtual world distract me from the real world. Instead of combating this bad habit instead I have tried to use it to my advantage. Why not waste your time learning something new? To accomplish this I tend to waste my time in areas of the internet that explore some of my favorite subjects, one of which is history. It has always been fascinating to me to learn about the human history and how in many ways reality is much more entertaining than fiction. Reddit’s r/AskHistorians is perfect for this. If you hadn’t guessed I spend a lot of my time on Reddit. But back to r/AskHistorians, in this community users can ask a question to the whole community, and users can make comments trying to answer the question or further the discussion. The thing that makes this community different however, is the rules put in place to ensure quality comments. The most important rule is that all comments used to provide an answer to the question must be properly sourced with citations used. This eliminates almost all of the low effort comments, incorrect facts, and biased answers to questions. In addition to sourced answers, users who are experts in their fields can verify that with moderators and can receive special flairs to denote their fields of expertise. This lets you feel assured that your answer is usually coming with somebody with some level of education in that particular field. This also draws many academics to this subreddit, which has the wonderful side effect of having many obscure or difficult to find source material being presented in the answers. Professors will answer with excerpts on papers they have published or material found only in their University library. Small things like that make the community much more engaging and easier to navigate. The benefits the community can provide to users with questions is important, but eve.n more important than that are the questions. In a typical reddit fashion any question about a historical topic can be asked, and the more interesting questions are upvoted, less interesting downvoted. This creates a system that self selects for the more interesting topics and removes your exposure to many stupid questions. Many of the questions asked are ones that you would never think about on your own, but once you hear them it sparks your interest. At the time of this writing the top question of the day is “Was there a reason American adults stopped dressing so formally in public?”. Obscure questions like this one are what make this subreddit great. This subreddit also has ties to many other “ask” reddits that specialize in more specific fields like chemistry or physics, but others as well like law enforcement or military. This connection to the rest of the reddit community helps bring in a wide group of people to both ask and answer many interesting questions
