Half of the names from The Blackblood Alliance (both the original and the reboot) could be Warrior names. Fairstep, Riptide, Sunstride, Whitewind, Greyback, Mudfoot, etc. Even Swiftkill and Bloodspill could work, though they're edgy af.
I accept this!

hyper mirrorve - whitewind
再生ハイパーベルーヴ - ぱんださんようちえん
麹町養蚕館 - マストダイ

Whitewind, Riverton
New map for My Cute Vampir's atlas.
Our protagonists won't be visiting this region until book 4, so consider this an early preview. Enjoy the process. I do use free map building icons from Fantasy Adventures, Blueberry's City Assets, and other free assets, but the map design and layout is fully my own.

warrior cat OCs (part 1 because i have 125+ of these guys)
did anyone ask? no. do i care? no.
IceClan cats! They live in the snowy mountains. They're usually fluffy and tend to have brown or gray coats (because Natural Selection Exists); if cats don't have brown or gray coats, they probably are (or are descendants of) a cat outside their Clan. That being said, IceClan is usually one of the more hospitable Clans (at least, the cats are; the mountains are Not Friendly) so a variety of pelt colors is pretty much a given.
Blazetalon (molly, she/they), Dreamchaser (tom, he/they), and Goldfire (molly, she/her)! Goldfire is the daughter of Goldenstream (molly, she/her) and Nightstrike (tom, he/they), littermate to Blackface (tom, he/it/they) and Wrenkit (molly, she/her, died in kithood). Blazetalon is a former loner, found as a kit, abandoned by the edge of IceClan's territory, by their medicine cat Firestorm (amab, she/her). Goldenstream took care of her since she was practically the same age as her own kits. Dreamchaser was born in MoonClan to Stormbright (tom, he/they, leader) and Milkspot (molly, they/she), but left after Politics divided his Clan (something something Storm died but the deputy was revealed to have kits in another clan and the conservative cats Did Not Like That. (also they didn't like that Dream had gotten Gold pregonat WHOOPS so he was just like "okay but if i join IceClan then nobody will have a problem with this, right?" and then he joins IceClan)
they are bisexual and they have a dumb love triangle but all three ways (+ comphet "im really close to this girl so im just gonna call her my sister even though that feels wrong"). Dreamchaser dies and then Goldfire gets depressed so Blazetalon helps her and then Blazetalon dies and then Goldfire is all sad like "oh they wont want me to die because theyre together in cat heaven" and then Blaze and Dream are like "you absolute dummy. polyamory" and then when Gold dies they are a happy throuple in cat heaven 😌
(dont mind the old goldfire design in there, i dont have the raw file for this one anymore and i just dont wanna fix it)
oh and dreamchaser is heckin SHORT. we stan the short king <3
also out of the three, Goldfire and Dreamchaser are the only ones that have kits. They have three: Eclipseheart (amab, any pronouns, prefers they/them), Elkdapple (tom, he/it/paw), and Eveningshade (molly, she/they). Eveningshade doesn't have a ref yet so have this super-old drawing from back when i drew with a mouse (yikes)
These cool guys are some of the cats in Goldfire and Blazetalon's age group (technically Dreamchaser's as well but he wasn't in IceClan at the time): Duststorm (tom, any non-fem pronouns), Eaglegaze (amab, they/them), and Shadowedmask (tom, he/him). I haven't drawn Duststorm's littermates Lightfoot and Whitewind, but they exist too. Also Duststorm and Eaglegaze are siblings from different litters; Eagle (and their sister Silverheart) is actually the baby of the age group and Dust is the oldest.
And Cloudshade (they/them) is their oldest sibling.
Firestorm (aforementioned medicine cat) is Hawktail's (molly, she/they) mentor, and Skunkbright (molly, they/she) is IceClan's leader. Shiningfur (amab, she/they) is MoonClan's medicine cat. However, because I think the "med cats can't have a mate/kits" rule is Stupid, they are just *strongly discouraged*; it's not ~against the rules~
oh boy dead kits time
Honeybeekit (he/they/it) and Spiritkit (he/they) are Goldfire's kits from her first litter (though Dreamchaser is not their father... oh the intrigue!). Both of them died as kits. Aaaand there's Goldenstream and Wrenkit (hoo boy that art is old and the colors are 😬)
You think this is a mess? ha just look at the family tree
yeah :)
its a mess.
#okay i think thats it#hoo boy ive got SO much lore for these guys you dont even KNOW#warrior cats#warrior cats oc#trials of iceclan#the highland clans

“Spring rain— parting ways from a guest, I visit another”
—
Hijikata Toshizo
Original: 春雨や客を返して客に行
Read all of Hijikata’s haiku poems here: https://shinsengumi-archives.tumblr.com/post/683071924948058112/hijikata-toshizos-haiku-poems
fushigi-dono:
Under each haiku, the character 寿 - “longevity” - is signed in red ink. Hijikata Megumi explains that it’s most likely the “excellent” marks that Hijikata received for these poems at haiku meetings. I hope that Toshizo didn’t make these “A’s” by himself. But in general, it seems strange that five poems in a row on the same page get an excellent grade. One of the previous ones has such marks, too, but I don’t have a good quality image. And there are again three poems in a row, or maybe four (Nos. 13, 14, and 15 - all of them about the years):
And there’s also a squiggle that looks like the letter Z under each haiku on each page: it’s 玉 - gyoku (a part of the pseudonym “Hogyoku”). In some places, it says “Hogyoku” in full or 豊, the first character from the pseudonym, at the beginning of the page. That is the author not only signed the collection on the cover, but also each of his haiku. I don’t know, maybe it was a custom. So I doubt very much that Hijikata was that shy about his poems, as he is usually portrayed in anime and movies :)
WhiteWind歴史館:
Spring rain. Going back from visiting a guest I go out to be a guest myself.
In fact, the “Hogyoku Haiku Collection” also includes some masterful and tasteful phrases that could be called the “Spring Rain Trilogy”. Phrases such as "I return a guest and go out to be a guest” could have been written by Kobayashi Issa.
On a lightly rainy spring evening, Toshizo, having dropped off a guest, is in no mood to go straight home, and is about to visit somewhere as a guest himself.
Perhaps he has just finished a formal conversation with his guest and is going to visit a place where he can finally stretch his wings. Perhaps it is a friend’s house, or perhaps it is a lover’s house.
This was such a peaceful time for Toshizo, too, surrounded by the gentle “spring rain”. It is a phrase that makes us feel relieved to know that not all of his days were bleak.

its late at night the perfect time to post art uuuuUUUUUHHHHHNNNN
au where Fireheart and Graystripe don’t bring WindClan back for anon!
please excuse the hideous lineart and shading
- long story short, WindClan basically all died off in twolegplace (monsters, dogs, rats, sickness, starvation, and maybe BloodClan) except for four cats
- Ashfoot (cause we stan), Gorsekit (cause he didn’t deserve to die) , Onewhisker (because any au where he doesn’t become an asshole is good), and Whitepaw (because YES WHITETAIL IS GREAT AND SO UNDERAPPRECIATED SHE WAS LIKE ONE OF THE ONLY ACTUALLY DECENT WINDCLAN CATS SHE WAS AWESOME I LOVE HER!!!!)
- Graystripe and Fireheart (especially the latter) are pretty depressed abou this because it was an important mission, and their first mission as warriors as well... and they failed
- Ashfoot, Gorsekit, and Onewhisker all move to ThunderClan, but Whitepaw chooses to stay at the barn with Ravenpaw and Barley (she may or may not think Ravenpaw is kind of cute) Ashfoot also gives her the warrior name Whitewind before she leaves, to honor her orgins
- Ashfoot raises Gorsekit, who later becomes Fireheart’s apprentice because :)))))) maybe she mates with some other cat in ThunderClan..
how old are Frostfur and Goldenflower
- Onefire

2023 update/reblog of a reblog: Something I would like to add that I didn't consider at first, but I reread some of the old BBA pages out of curiosity, and my god Swifty was so unlikable... "Inaria has sealed its own fate. You know nothing of what Whitewind did to me - what your entire pack did to us." She seemed more angry that Whitewind exiled her than she was at herself for accidentally murdering the pups she was tasked with protecting... She didn't even worry about whether or not she was going to lose control and hurt her friends in the future, all she cared about was herself and the fact that she had been exiled. "You know nothing of what Whitewind to me"? Ugh... And the fact that the Inarians didn't give her the chance to explain everything was stupid, too. It reminds me of when Kargo in Home killed the merchant dogs after suffering from a PTSD trigger, only to then loot their corpses and walk away without batting an eye, then later tried to justify his killing of them, then tried to make it all about himself when Roamer confronted him over attacking Rogio (as justified as it was, since Rogio is a pos character). I understand that Kique was trying to write Kargo as recognizing that he has a problem, is afraid of himself, and needs help before he hurts anyone else, but he still wrote it in such a way that it made Kargo sound like he was painting himself as the victim. That, and it was too little too late, since he always had anger problems and controlling his emotions and blacking out in the past but there it was portrayed to show off how much of a strong brave warrior Kargo was... until Kique decided to stop liking Kargo x Roamer and went on to shipping the more toxic Roamer and Rogio. Fucking hell, Ferah, as Kargo's friend, should have known better about his trauma, but alas Kique (to quote Stephen King about Stephanie Meyer) "can't write worth a damn." But back to old BBA. It also had a habit of telling rather than showing. We were told Swiftkill was this amazing captain and that she earned her skills, we were told the """alphas""" were going to pass the leadership of Inaria to Swiftkill before she was banished (because she was such a Mary Sue that she didn't even have to earn the position herself and the ""alphas"" ignored their own firstborn daughter to do so), but we were never shown it. And the sequence of her being exiled was so rushed. I still think its funny that WolfComicReviews' list about potential struggles for Swiftkill (her fears of losing control and hurting her friends again, even going as far as to lose sight of reality/think she's a bad guy who let everyone down, etc) is almost exactly like the struggles my half-hellhound protagonist Kairo goes through, minus the self-loathing he initially has over his hellhound-side and his trauma at the paws of my main hybrid villain later on, before he overcomes it via character development.
It's no wonder the comic underwent a reboot. XD The new Swiftkill seems less of a Mary-Sue (thank god) and more like a Tsundere type of character. Someone who pushes others away because they don't want get attached to others for fear of hurting them and getting hurt in turn, and she seems resentful to the Rubicund dires and the Inarians for their ways of life. Considering how Bloodspill is her half-sister and bullied her in her youth, and considering that Swiftkill is the hybrid offspring of a forbidden relationship between a pureblood direwolf and a gray wolf, I wonder if she was looked down on by the Inarians or if they wronged her in any way that created the current resentment she holds towards them. If she's not from Cricket's pack, I wonder which pack in Inaria she came from. Maybe she's not from a pack in Inaria, but a pack from somewhere far away from Inaria and they mistreated her due to her hybrid status. Maybe that's why she hates the idea of pack life? And maybe when she hangs out with Cricket, Sunstride, and somehow reforms her and Blood's bond (probably through Blood getting character development?), maybe Swifty will open up and soften more and her growing bonds with her new friends will make her realize that they are their own kind of pack? Who knows?? I also wonder if "Blackblood" is a term for hybrid Rubicunds, wolves that are not pure-dire, kinda like "Mudblood" in Harry Potter? Or maybe its just a name used for the Rubicund themselves, maybe its a name given to Rubicund that work for Inarians, hence why they're called "Blackblood warriors"? I don't remember, as its been a while since I read the reboot. So many ideas to think about, and I hope Kay Fedewa will be able to continue and finish the story once she is in a better state, health-wise.
The Blackblood Alliance: Flesh Out Your Swiftkill
Fixit #1
To start this new little section of what I’ll just call Fixits (original name do not steal), I figured I’d begin with the most well known wolf comic in all the land - and the first one I ever reviewed - The Blackblood Alliance. Though widely celebrated by droves of aspiring pros and 12 year old wolf fans alike, I’ve taken issue with several main elements in BBA since I reread it only last year, and I feel it may be beneficial to deconstruct and offer alternatives to the bits and pieces of the story that just didn’t work for me and others who have criticized the tale.
This is more text heavy then originally intended, but it took me waaay less time to write then you may think. Don’t fear the text dump.
Original review can be found here.
[Warning for mentions of death, specifically infanticide.]
