As part of our annual Walpurgis festivities, we undertake a ritual known as Dressing the Wishing Bush. Here are some pictures of the preparation and aftermath of that rite.

Our consecrated scion from the Matron Whitethorn of our land was re-potted, and her root growth is looking very good so far. We should be able to transplant her directly into our yard by next May Day!

Where is Aelin? Where is my wife?

Whitethorn's wife—-and his mate. Only this mission of theirs, this endless quest to find her,

kept Lorcan from plunging into a pit from which he knew he would not emerge.

Perhaps if they found her, if there was still enough left of Aelin to salvage after Cairn's ministrations, he'd find a way to live with himself. To endure this ... person he'd become.

It might take him another five hundred years to do so.

He didn't let himself consider that Elide would be little more than dust by then.

A fool— he was an immortal, stupid fool for starting down this path with her, for forgetting that even if she forgave him, her mortality beckoned.

i'm definitely not currently thinking about how perfect it is that the starlit siblings' eyes are grey, the color of lodestones, which were used in the first magnetic compasses and so crucial to early navigation. (lodestone, which is a Middle English word meaning "course stone" or "leading stone", from the archaic meaning of lode as "journey" or "way") (y'know, according to Wikipedia)

i like to think it's a family trait. no matter who or where you are, the descendants of the founder of Whitethorn will always help you find your way.

My part for the Davy Jones Whitethorn map!! I love when people make their own WC OCs, whether they stick to canon lore or make up their own. It's honestly one of my favourite parts of fandom, so I'll always try to join OC maps when I can!

Fresh shoots, already with the promise of flowers to come

Okay so you know how we have this big multi dimensional war about to happen? My biggest (well second biggest) hesitation to have Aelin there is; control of her court.

Rhysand and Feyre have a chain of command that is clear and does not leave their court defenseless. Rhys+Feyre, then Amren, followed by Mor. So for them to leave their world and their court it go likely to Amren to take leadership due to her loss of powers in ACOWAR. (Though she is still highly skilled in battle and with her mind - however I have a feeling this war will be very power driven.) Basically The Night Court/Court of Nightmares will be fine, all the while letting the duo take their best, that are suites from the job, with them.

Now that brings me to Aelin, now do NOT get me wrong I want to see her. I wanna know how her life is going, if she’s making her losses have a meaning. How is the gang? But I am on the side to also say that she has been through more than her fair share - more than any of the others. We would be taking her out of the first time in her life she’s not fights, where she’s in control of her life. Mind you her powers are also diminished.

That said my worry is about the control of her court as well as Dorian’s in a way. Dorian less so cause he probably has a plan in place due to being the largest kingdom, it likely does not include our people but still.

Aelin on the other hand;

Aelin would go, she would probably feel like she has too. Rowan if Aelin goes so would he. That takes out both rulers of the kingdom. Then we have Aedion who would demand to go with his cousin, one cause he has leadership and fight training - plus he has The Bane. Fenrys and Lorcan I’m hesitant to say what they would do. Fenrys would probably want to go due to his connect with Aelin, as well as Rowan. Lorcan I would want to say would stay with Elide unless ordered other wise, I do think I’m staying would be a good idea so there is a fighter left back home to protect. Now that would likely leave Lysandra and Elide to stay - I want to note I think Lysandra would be a great asset in the fighting but I also think Aelin would leave her court to someone she trusts beyond all else. Lysandra and Elide could joint rule with some help from Lorcan. But that’s best case. Also Lysandra has Evangeline to think about.

Aelin could call in some of the people from the past, the ones who came to help in empire of storms and kingdom of ash

My best case idea for what should happen is that Dorian and Manon go, Aelin can help in strategies but leave the girl alone. I honestly think she might going into PTSD upon the sight of another god like war.

She would live. She would live, and they could all go to hell.

A better world. With no gods, no fates.

A world of their own making.

An Amplemas Miracle

May 4th marked our Cardinal Sabbath of Amplemas, and on this holy day, we experienced a small and simple "miracle" that I have since been given leave to share publicly.

In the past, as part of the lead up to Amplemas, we celebrated the traditional Spirit Night of Walpurgis/Beltane/May Day by gathering and decorating a branch of flowering Hawthorn that we brought back to our home. Last year, certain omens moved us both believe that we were meant to establish a "permanent May Bush" of sorts, by harvesting a large "thorn-broom" from the Matron Hawthorn of our land which we could dry and reuse. We did all this, but in the days following, we had multiple omens leading us to believe that we misunderstood and were actually supposed to root a scion of the Matron Hawthorn, which we could then tend on our own property as a living May Bush. This was confirmed for us by a single green bud appearing on the thorn-Broom, over a week after having left it in a warm room to dry with no water or soil. We did everything we could to try and rescue this scion tree, feeling quite worried that our misunderstanding would lead to her death, but amazingly, she managed to survive.

Fast forward to this year, and we were working with the Scion Whitethorn as its own tree for the first time, which was lovely. But then, on the astronomical cross-quarter of Amplemas, she put out her first flower buds. The timing of these first buds was quite beautiful already, but the fact that it is even managing to put out flowers right now is a bit surprising, botanically speaking.

This small treasure gave me so much joy and hope, and I just wanted to share that with all of you.
