Reasons for Submission

Boat-tailed Grackle: When I was younger I dreamed of seeing one of their breeding colonies - and males in their pretty iridescent blue - in real life. I moved into their range a while ago and have since learned that these colonies are LOUD and kind of annoying when they set up shop right next to your house. So I'm mostly submitting to complain. But I do still think they're pretty and very fun to watch, very goofy birds.

Brown Thrasher: Brown thrashers are the state bird where I live (Georgia)! I've been around them my entire life, and I think they're beautiful with their distinct red-brown topcoat, and their four-part calls are one of my favorites to hear (I especially love to listen and figure out if it's an actual thrasher or if it's a mockingbird, the latter almost always gets the song wrong at the end!).

It's always great when new birds appear, especially after the bird drought I had here for months now… (I still put my photo setup out every day but there are only Blue Jays, MoDos and Chickadees right now.) The White-throated Sparrows visit in the mornings. They are such pretty birds, and it is nice to see them up close. Have a great Thursday!
