I think it might well be the game mentioned in The Satyricon:

"A boy was at his heels with a board of terebinth wood with glass squares, and I noticed the very last word in luxury - instead of white and black pieces he had gold and silver coins."

The notes in my edtion say about this:

"Probably the game called latrunculi - a game something between draughts and chess, although sometimes dice played a part in it. The object was to put an opponent's piece between two of one's own and so capture him. There is at least one Egyptian picture of a solo game, although normally it was played between two people."

So yes, Ludus Latrunculorum seems to fit what we see on screen and even allows for Aziraphale's solo game. Also this would strenghten this scene's connection to The Satyricon, which was written by Titus Petronius Arbiter, possibly the same Petronius referenced later in the scene. (And thus, my hc of them attending Trimalchio's dinner was born lol.)

Today in, "dynamics that were totally present if the writers of The West Wing had just bothered to explore them," Josh and Donna edtion:

In the early seasons, everything Donna does is for Josh, per Janel Moloney, who says she played every scene as being about Donna being in love with Josh. When Donna quits, it's because she's finally tired of that and wants to do something for herself. But what's interesting is Josh never does anything for himself. Everything he does is to serve the president and the administration, and even when he leaves the White House everything he does is for the purpose of getting Santos elected. We've actually seen Josh run into this conflict with a love interest before, when Amy gives a bunch of quotes to a reporter to write a puff piece because she genuinely thinks it's a nice thing to do, and Josh hates the attention being on him. Then they have their argument about the constituency of one: Amy's is herself, Josh's is the president. Josh may beat his chest in private (literally, that one time), but in public he doesn't take credit, it's always about the president.

When you look at it this way, Josh and Donna both have sympathetic viewpoints (although I'm not sure Josh's is exactly healthy). Donna is putting herself first, but Josh doesn't see putting yourself first as something people in their world should do. Of course, Josh has certain privileges Donna doesn't have. He has Harvard, Yale, and a bunch of prestigious jobs on his resume, he doesn't need to look out for himself to be taken seriously. Donna is in a much more precarious position, socially and professionally.

I think viewed through this lens the conflict between them becomes a lot more interesting, because you also have to consider how Josh sees Donna. Everything Donna does is for Josh, but Josh views himself as part of the administration, so to the extent that he recognizes what Donna does for him, he probably sees it as Donna serving the president. So when Donna says "it's the White House," she may not just be using the White House as an excuse for her borderline self-destructive devotion to Josh, she might have absorbed his view of their role.

Interestingly, the first thing Josh really does for himself is invite Donna on vacation. Even the vacation itself is forced on him and pitched in terms of what's best for the upcoming Santos administration (Josh's ability to do his job effectively, and the added motivation that going on vacation means Sam will be willing to stay). He invites Donna because he wants to. That vacation is critical, because Josh has finally been forced to recognize his own needs as an individual, which finally puts him in a position to have a successful relationship. And in recognizing himself, he can also recognize why Donna has to prioritize her own needs, bringing them to a better understanding and resolving a lot of the tension.

The tracks are mixed genre and the position in the playlist is not based on songs, is mixed by me to mix the genres. So the position of any song means nothing, all 25 tunes are there on merit. The bands featured are from 8 differnt countries, England, South Korea, Australia, America, Scotland, Sweden, Italy and Canada.

Hm idk id say more than half her songs are about breaksup and ex as the primary topic

Do you listen to her albums or just to the singles? It is true that a lot of her singles were (were, like 6 years ago) about break ups, but if you listen to the whole albums there's so much more.

I'm actually going to prove it:

TAYLOR SWIFT DEBUT (DELUXE EDITION): 14 songs total. 4 of them about break ups: Tim McGraw, Picture to Burn, Should've Said No, A Perfectly Good Heart. 4/15. 28,6% of the album, not even half of it.

FEARLESS (PLATINUM EDTION): 18 songs total. 5 of them about break ups: White Horse, Tell Me Why, You're Not Sorry, The Way I Loved You, Forever & Always. 5/18. 27,7% of the album, not even half of it.

SPEAK NOW (DELUXE PACKAGE): 17 songs total. 7 of them about break ups: Back To December, Dear John, The Story Of Us, Better Than Revenge, Haunted, Last Kiss, If This Was a Movie. 7/17. 41% of the album, not even half of it.

1989 (DELUXE): 16 songs total. 5 of them are sort of about break ups, but not really. This album was more difficult bc even the ones that talk a little bit about a previous relationships are not "break ups" song perse, but anyways, the closest: Out Of The Woods, Style (?), How You Get The Girl, Clean (?), I Wish You Would (?). I would only consider Out Of The Woods as a "break up" song, the rest of them mention a previous relationship but mostly talk about moving on and growing and healing, that's why I wrote the "(?)". But anyway, if we count them as break up songs: 5/16. 31% of the album, not even the half of it.

REPUTATION: 15 song total. 1 of them about break ups (sort of, not really): Getaway Car. 1/15. 6,7% of the album.

So... What did we learned today? Oh yeah, that the "Taylor Swift only writes break up songs" or "Taylor Swift only writes about her exes" is only another example of sexisim in the industry and the media that we should recognize and fight against it so we can let very talented women continue creating amazing pieces of art.

And just for the fun of it. Not counting the upcoming album (Lover) , or EPs, or Demos (I'm sorry I don't have time), she has written 99 songs, and only 30 of them are about break ups or exes. 30/99.

So, (Hey kids, MATHS ARE FUN!), that means that only 30,30% of her songs are about that.

Selena gomez revival album buyibng

Even if it’s not even that, it’s like love drunk in a way. You gotta get through the other side as best as you can, and everyone has been in that situation where you can’t help it. It’s easy to run away from your feelings, but I have to understand, and people need to understand, that you have to go through everything. Selena spoke about “Sober” with iHeartRadio saying: “Sober”-“Sober” is the fifth track on the album. Now this song is about Justin Bieber, but Selena also had a different meaning to the song, and it had nothing to do with Justin Bieber, with lyrics like, “I’m so sick of that same old love, that shit, it tears me up”. Charli XCX wrote the song “Same Old Love”, but also Selena tweaked it up a little, also Charili XCX is also in the song, she sings the “ Oh’s”. “Same Old Love”-“Same Old Love”, is the fourth song. With lyrics like, “I want you all to myself/You’re metaphorical gin and juice”. I really appreciate that it’s kind of different from everything else.” It’s really different, and it’s fresh, and it’s kind of got this Prince-y vibe to it. I thought the album was done, and then I kind of went in, and I felt like I was ready for the next chapter, whatever it is, and I just knew that it had this sass to it. It’s the second to last song I recorded, and we wrote it in a day, and it was incredible because I had this sass. It’s actually one of the last songs I recorded for the album. The song is about a celebration of love overcoming inhibition. “Hands To Myself”- “Hands To Myself”, is the third song on the album. I mean, that lyric couldn’t be any truer then that! One of my favorite lyrics in this song is, “Your lies are bullets/Your mouth’s the gun”. This is one of her more inspirational songs on this album and she also has another one called “Rise”. “Kill ‘Em With Kindness”- “Kill ‘Em With Kindness” is the second song, and it’s about using peaceful actions to overcome our everyday obstacles and limitations. Her intro to the song, starts off by her saying, “I dive into the future/But I’m blinded by the sun/I’m reborn in every moment/So who knows what I’ll become”. “It’s one of the most important tracks on the album, because it’s an introduction to “what I’ve been spending the past two years experiencing, feeling and going through.” During a track-by-track interview on Twitter, she said that: Standard Edtion Songs- “Revival”- “Revival” is the first track on the album. Standard Edition with 11 songs and it’s in color.ĭeluxe Edition with 14 songs, with a black and white album cover, and she is naked. Also there is a Target Exclusive Version of this album and it’s the same album cover as the Deluxe Version. Now with “Revival”, there are two album covers for it, there is the S tandard Edition and the D eluxe Edition. Also the sound is different, and she is a little bit more mature with this album than any of her other albums. “Revival” though is better than “Stars Dance”, in my opinion. She recorded this album with Interscope Records.In my opinion I think that Selena Gomez’s vocals are way better than her previous album “Stars Dance”, and I can’t blame her for that because well, “ Stars Dance”, is a very EDM driven album but I still really liked it. “ Revival” is Selena Gomez’s second solo album.
