What is history of Jordan 4 replicas?
The Jordan 4 is a legendary sneaker originally released in 1989 that has become a symbol of style and innovation in the sneaker world. Over the years, Jordan 4 reissues have continued to skyrocket in popularity, giving sneakerheads an affordable way to rock the iconic shoe. Let’s take a look back at the history of Jordan 4 replicas and understand their evolution.
The Birth of the Air Jordan 4: A Sneaker Classic
Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 debuted during the 1988-1989 NBA season. Its innovative design features visible air units, supportive ankle straps and unique "wings" on the sides. Thanks to its unique aesthetic and cutting-edge technology, the Air Jordan 4 quickly gained recognition on and off the basketball court. From the “Bred” colorway to “Military Blue,” each release has contributed to the sneaker’s status as a cultural icon.
The Rise of the Jordan 4 Retro: A Style Everyone Can Afford
As demand for the Air Jordan 4 continues to grow, so does interest in replicas. The appeal of Jordan 4 replicas is their affordability, allowing sneakerheads to embrace the iconic style without paying a hefty price tag. These replicas are designed to capture the essence of the original design, replicating the visible Air unit, ankle strap, and unique features that made the Air Jordan 4 stand out.
Quality improves over time: aesthetics and craftsmanship
Early Jordan 4 replicas were of varying quality. Some replicas struggle to capture the details of authentic sneakers, resulting in a less than satisfying consumer experience. Over time, however, the reproduction industry has made significant advances in aesthetics and craftsmanship. Reputable replica sites now prioritize attention to detail, ensuring replicas look and feel very similar to the original Air Jordan 4s.
Multiple Colorways: Replica Palette
One of the beauties of the Jordan 4 replica is the variety of colorways available. Just like the authentic Air Jordan 4s, replicas come in a variety of colors and designs. Sneakerheads can explore classic versions like the “White Cement” as well as newer colorways. The variety of options allows individuals to express their own personal style, making the Jordan 4 replica a versatile choice for sneakerheads.
Choose regular online websites to purchase
Since many shoddy and low-quality fake shoes have entered the fake shoe market, fans do not know how to distinguish the quality of the shoes and are deceived. At this time, it is crucial to choose a regular fake shoe website. They have a safe and regular payment platform and services. First-class, high-quality, and cheap, allowing fans to buy with confidence. Replica online is a formal fake shoe website that sells a variety of sports shoes. New products are launched as soon as possible, truly keeping up with the trend in real time.

Masterful Hickman gives Faye Ho silver lining.
After stubborn mist moved away action began several hours late at TT 2023. The solo warm up lap was significant because it allowed Peter Hickman to complete a lap on his Supertwin Yamaha and thereby qualify for the evening’s first race for the class. Mike Browne was out on his Stocker, to test changes made in response to handling so bad that he made an unscheduled stop in the Superbike race. The Sidecar warm up allowed Dave Molyneux /Dan Sayle to test the troublesome KTM on track. The warm-up lap made the riders aware of a small patch of cement dust on the approach to White Gates. Normal weather service had been restored when Davo Johnson led the Superstock away on their 3 lap race. The riders were obliged to have a pit stop at the end of lap 1. Michael Dunlop’s crew chief set out what most were expected to do and that was simply top up the tank and clean the screen and rider’s visor. Starting this race pulled Michael Rutter level with his father Tony on 83. For Josh Brookes the race was over before he reached St Ninian’s on the FHO BMW. Peter Hickman had no such problem; the machine was ready to go after just four laps of practice; this allowed him more time to try to tame the unruly Superbike. Michael Dunlop’s MD Racing Honda machine had similarly been ready to go early in Practice Week. When the Glen Helen was reached, Dean Harrison (DAO Kawasaki) was right behind Davo Johnson (Jackson Honda) and passed him on the Cronk y Voddy straight; Dean remained the pigeon scarer for the remainder of the race. Behind them, Dunlop had nearly closed the starting interval on James Hillier (OMG Yamaha). Passing slower riders did cause some minor delays for the podium riders but tended to even out and did not affect the result. The times at Glen Helen showed that this was going to be a race with close battles throughout the field of 46 riders left in the contest. Michael Dunlop had been the fastest of all over the first 9 miles; he led by 0.65s from Peter Hickman, with Dean Harrison 1.69s down in third; in what was becoming a recurring theme. Davey Todd (Milenco Padgett Honda), Conor Cummins (Milenco Padgett Honda); heroically back on track three days after being on drip in hospital; James Hillier and Jamie Coward (Steadplan Honda) were the top 7. Just 3.6s covered the four riders. On Sunday Dunlop set the fastest ever sector time from Glen Helen to Ballaugh; today Hickman returned serve with the fastest ever Superstock sector time. This gave him a lead of 2.26s as they hopped over the famous bridge. Harrison was third, but 4s down on Dunlop. Todd, Cummins and Coward completed the top 6. May Hill in Ramsey is a good vantage point; with the bikes powering out of Cruickshank’s Corner and coming close to the low kerb on the left side of the track. The sound of the machines on full gas echoes back from the house walls. Dean Harrison was first, and he was trying; using all of the road. Davo Johnson was next; followed almost immediately by the rejuvenated John McGuinness. Jamie Coward has settled onto the Honda superbly, and he was wringing its neck as he went past. Michael Dunlop has been using all of the road; but he is never out of shape; yet again he was very fast, but very stable. Hicky was rapid and holding a tighter line than most of the top runners; apart from James Hillier. As they started the mountain climb, Hickman had a lead of 3.4s from Dunlop. Harrison was third, 6.74s down on Dunlop. Todd, Cummins and Coward completed the top 6; Hillier was 7th just 0.141s down on Coward. Hickman is normally the fastest over the mountain; but today Dunlop was, and cut the lead to 2.7s as they came into the pits for the mandatory stop. The pits stops saw Hickman and Harrison gain over 1.5s on Dunlop. Dom Herbertson; 11th at the time, missed the pit lane and had to come in via the return road. After some words were exchanged with the stewards, he was allowed to continue, despite his off track activity. Back on track Hickman’s lead was 5.3s as he powered the big BMW up Creg Willey’s Hill for the second time. Dunlop had increased his advantage over Harrison to 10.8s. Todd, Coward and Cummins completed the top 6; with Hillier just 0.2s behind Cummins. Hickman continued to set the best sector times; he led by 9.1s as swept out of Cruickshank’s in fine style; the front wheel pawing the air as he powered through. Coward; Hillier and Cummins were covered by 1.5s in their exciting battle for the final leader board places. With the best time for each sector over the mountain Hickman had a comfortable lead of 15.7s as he headed off for the final lap; the lap that would be the fastest of the race. Dunlop had 10.1s in hand over Harrison. Todd remained under pressure from Coward; but Conor Cummins was starting to lose time; no doubt exhausted after his illness. John McGuinness was riding a fine race in 8th; Johnson was 9th and Herbertson 10th in spite of his pit stop faux pas. Hickman was on outright lap record pace for part of the lap; but lost some time behind slower riders and then eased back over the last two sectors; but still set the best lap of the race at 134.311mph; to seal a 23.17s victory over Michael Dunlop. This win moved into double figures. Harrison; Todd, Hillier and Coward all lapped at over 132mph on the last lap. Conor Cummins took 7th; John McGuinness went out at Guthrie’s handing 8th to Davo Johnson; he lapped at over 130mph on the final lap. The excellent form of Mike Browne and Shaun Anderson continued; they finished 9th and 10th respectively. This was a race of the highest quality and Hickman’s win repaid team owner Faye Ho for her support. The second race should be at least as good; weather permitting. I can’t help thinking that four laps would have been even better. Read the full article

Off White Sneakers timing points back
Although the color-blocking itself can't be connected to an original colorway of the Air Jordan 1, there's no denying its place in the Air Jordan 1 family. The Off White Sneakers timing points back to when the shoe debuted in Cleveland during All-Star Weekend in 1997. Unexpected geometries and hand-made detailing are hallmarks of the new Nike Air Zoom Type. Georgetown colors could very well eclipse the University Blue hype, as its appearance atop the Dunk Low and upcoming Air Jordan 1 '85 have garnered quite the applause. Soon, the Air Jordan 6, too, will pledge allegiance to the Bulldogs, though we'll have to wait until Fall to get our hands on a pair. According to the available mock-up, the Air Jordan 6 Georgetown will feature a dark grey suede across its upper.
A reflection of the expressive nature of the modern game and its players, the NBA lifted its footwear colorway restrictions in 2018. Since then, the NBA and its players have taken a leading position in standing for both personal expression and collective progress. The year also marked Converse's reentry to the hoops landscape in signing forward Kelly Oubre Jr. It also coincides with the globe's most well-known Off White Sale sporting event, in which China and Nike share a rich, interwoven history. The momentum continued as the shoe hit 15, 20, 25 and carries on now at its 30th anniversary. The 2021 Be True collection is inspired by the idea that sport can be the setting for radical inclusivity.
The Jordan 4 did not return to stores again until 1999, roughly one year after Michael Jordan's retirement from the Bulls. It returned in the two original White Cement and Black Cement, while introducing two LS or Lifestyle models that boasted a Jumpman logo at the heel and leather panels in place of the netting. This addressed to significant growth in popularity of Jordans as casual lifestyle footwear. According to newly surfaced information, the Air Jordan 3 Fire Red 2022 is currently slated to release on August 6th. 1.The first full-length VaporMax Air unit is made with about 75 percent recycled material. Pink Jumpman logos on the heel match the transparent outsole as well as the interior lining, with orange sharks tooth detailing in the upper.
Jokingly dubbed the Eminem 4s at home for its resemblance to the 2015 collaboration between the Detroit hip-hop legend, Carhartt, and Jordan Brand, this upcoming Air Jordan 4 Retro is not a laughing manner. Easily one of the best colorways of the AJ4 we've seen in a minute, this upcoming August release contains all the classy elements you'd want in a Jordan 4 Retro - even if it doesn't have the Nike Air on the heel. Clad in a black canvas, this Jordan 4 release is accented by a perfect Off White Outlet grey tone on the eyelets, midsole, and logos, while a touch of red on the Flight script and outsole traction adds a necessary pop of color.

(Adam DiMarco, bisexual, male) look who’s been captured; it’s Vasco de la Fuente, a 24 year old prince of Argentina. He has been described as idealistic and entitled. Hopefully he doesn’t cause any trouble. He's is being watched by any male fc. [Chris, 25+, PST, she/her, no triggers]
You never know just how much you value your breath until you can’t breathe...
Vasco de la Fuente younger brother to the crown prince of Argentina Nael de la Fuente, came into the world a bit too early. From then on, he’d never really be known for his patience. It was like it didn’t develop in him, much like the complications his body experienced because of his premature birth.
The worst were the lung complications. Bouts of bronchitis, croup, and pneumonia paved the way for a sickly Vasco. His severe asthma was tentatively diagnosed at a very early age when he responded well to the prescribed treatments. When he was a little older and could do a proper lung function test (as well as describe what he was feeling), it was solidified.
Too young to really understand the implications of the diagnosis, Vasco carried on and, like other younger siblings, idolized his brother Nael and wanted to be just like him. Six years between them meant that Nael was far more active just on size and energy alone but when factoring in Vasco’s asthma, it didn’t take long for the boy to realize he would never be able to do what Nael did.
How could he even think of playing sports when walking up the stairs sometimes triggered an attack? The incident when he was five would cement the realization in him permanently.
He didn’t remember the details, maybe there was a party or some sort of function that his mother and father were hosting or maybe it was just a normal afternoon, but Vasco got restless and decided to go on an adventure. Nael caught him sneaking out to the gardens but Vasco was nothing if not determined and took off after his freedom, his brother hot on heels. He managed to get quite far before the attack hit and if he could have breathed he would have been proud of that. As it was, he couldn’t and collapsed to his hands and knees, wheezing and unable to breath.
If Nael hadn’t have been there to go get help, Vasco would have died.
The whole fiasco, the ambulances, the reporters, his parents, everybody shouting and fussing over him, it embarrassed the little prince. Even after it died down, the boy had a chip on his shoulder the size of Argentina itself and he often wished he had died.
During his less stubborn moments, he knew he owed his brother his life and usually did appreciate that Nael had been there to help him.
The less stubborn moments were few and far between, however, and Vasco’s resentment with the world only grew the more things he discovered he’d not be able to do. No fun party drugs, no exciting adrenaline things, there was nothing for a young, wealthy boy to do with himself (nothing that was cool anyway) that wouldn’t likely kill him and, despite appearances, he did not have a death wish. The only thing he did, giving a finger to the medical community every time he did it, was drink.
Vasco is a study in contrasts. He loves and hates Nael, loves and hates his status as a prince, loves and hates his parents, his country, his life. Everything is one extreme or the other with very little middle ground.
He’d been away when Nael was taken and came home to a distraught mother and a father angry at him as if Vasco’d had something to do with it. The prince had stormed out in a rage and gone to a local club where he had proceeded to get drunk off his tree making his kidnapping a cake walk.
Now, stuck on an unknown island with an inhaler that was 3/4s gone and no idea where his brother is, Vasco’s going to have to learn right quick to curb his temper if he wants to survive.

SHOE HAUL
Time to talk about what I love the most after food (ofcourse).. SHOESSSS!!! This year I have been purchasing shoes from time to time.. And I need to stop, eventually I will.. Maybe hahaha. Lets start!
Nike Dunk Photon Dust - $280 bnd
The Nike Photon Dust.. my first ever dunks.. how can i not love them! They look FRESH & CLEAN. Saw this shoe release was trending on twitter, and let me tell you when I first laid my eyes on them, it was love at first sight. I. Had. To. Get. Them. These retail for 100 usd (exchanges to $136 bnd) but i copped them for $280 bnd from someone else who sell resell. The $144 bnd difference kinda hurts but I would not mind getting hurt by this one! The shoe looks all white but is actually a Light grey plus White combo, which is why I really like these the most out of all my shoes and it is why I am talking about these shoes FIRST! HAHA. This colour combo works with many outfits and I really recommend other to cop them! ;)
Nike Dunk High Game Royal - $180 bnd
The Nike Dunk High Game Royal... I have mixed feelings about this one. I like them.. but I don't like them... do you guys get what I mean? I'm just kidding. I love these. The Royal Blue colour looks elegant and add a pop of colour to any plain outfit. Copped these for $180 bnd which was not so bad considering that high dunks are relatively cheaper than low dunk (the shoe I talked before this were low dunks).
Birkenstock Arizona - $100 bnd (I actually do not remember the price anymore but it was around this price)
Copped my first ever Birkenstock. I am so glad these are available in stock in Brunei now. I have always wanted one ever since 2015, and now 2021, I finally have one bought with my own money :D These are sooooo comfortable, I must say way better than fitflops (I have been wearing fitflops for years now, and I got tired of them, they look weird anyways). I checked google, and google says that these sandals are rated number 1 most comfortable sandals to exist. Throw your old sandals and buy these when you can as SOON AS POSSIBLE! I bought mine at Run Trail Nation at One River Side. :D
Jordan 4 Retro White Cement - $150 bnd (used)
These shoes are the cutest! Look great with any street wear outfit. I bought these used from online and the condition was okay but I am refraining from wearing them too much as the soles are starting to come out. I honestly wish I saved this money I spent to buy a new pair of Jordan 4s than buying a used one. Now a days Jordan 4s resell up to a thousand dollars. ITS. CRAZY. Which was the reason why I bought a used one, which again, I regretted but I still enjoyed wearing these!
Nike Dunk High Panda - $260 bnd
The last (for now) and most recent shoe purchase of mine. It is the Nike Dunk High Panda!!!! Finally got my hands on these babies. And again.. almost all dunks retail for 100 usd (exchanges to $136 bnd) and I copped these for $260.. so.. a $124 bnd difference. hahahaha but its okay! These shoes are bomb, they are a basic and a staple and goes with a lot of outfit combinations. Although I have not got to used these shoes as much as I want (because of covid, we barely can go out), I still used it out once when I was out for groceries and that made me happy hahahaahahah.
That is it for this post. Thanks for the read, see you in my next one!

Ruins, Rocks, & Tiny Roads
Our first really exploring day in Ireland was a jam packed one. Guy AJ has very kindly planned this trip for us so you can bet there is a ton of cool features for the archaeologically and geologically inclined. After a fuel stop where we had to use charades even though we were both speaking English (our accents were so incomprehensible to each other) we were ready to go.
Our first stop was the Dysert O’Dea Castle (pronounced diesert o dee) and archaeological park. Located at the edge of the Burren, this was a tower house built in the late 15th century by the local ruling family. Tower houses are all over the country, and their design and condition reflect Ireland’s tumultuous past. Unlike the large castles of England or the fairytale fortresses of Germany, Irish tower houses are small and unadorned, built only to protect the family inside. Ireland was never really ruled by a central government, so each local ruler built a tower house to defend himself against his neighbors. In the 16th century, England doubled down on its efforts to add Ireland to the empire, and many tower houses were destroyed from this violence, including part of the castle we saw. The Irish put up fight after fight, and the murder hole above the entrance, where defenders would drop boiling water and stones on the attackers, was a gruesome reminder of the death to occur here before it became such a picturesque tourist location. Seeing sites like this, and the many other ruined forts that dot the countryside, make you appreciate the raw feelings here toward England.
It was rebuilt in the 1980’s and 90s by a descendant of O’Dea- an American from Ohio with the last name O’Day. It was really well done for a private archaeological site. I particularly enjoyed pursuing the top tower and looking out at the rolling green hills. In the surrounding fields there are several other sites you can walk to. The first site we saw was the High Cross or “St. Tola’s cross.” It was created by monks in the 12th century, and local people would make pilgrimages out to it. One side has a relief of a Bishop (possibly St. Tola) and the other side has a crucifixion scene. For centuries locals would remove and use the head of Jesus to cure tooth aches until one of the later owners cemented it on to prevent theft. We could also explore the overgrown Victorian Synge lodge (this family got their name after Henry VIII heard them sing in church), and peer at the Dysert church from 734 ad. We couldn’t enter there because there was a funeral taking place. This highlighted how alive the history is here- the ruins are public places that are still in use.
Next we went on a hike in the Burren National Park. We didn’t much know what to expect from this area because we couldn’t find much online but it was BEAUTIFUL. Otherworldly, with grey limestone rock jutting out at odd angles like a lunar landscape with a serene pale blue lake at the bottom of the hill. It didn’t look much like my mental image of Ireland, no rolling green hills, forests or pastures, but if you’re in the area I’d highly recommend it. My only recommendation would be to drive past the first trail head, to where you can see the mountain. There is plenty of parking on the side of the road and it saves you about a 3/4s mile walk on the gravel road without much of a view.
While on this hike AJ taught me about the histories of the Irish people, the Scottish people, and the English people and how they diverged. I knew they didn’t like each other, but from an American’s perspective I feel like they often get lumped together and I wasn’t sure why England was the one to eventually take over both Ireland and Scotland. AJ explained that England was conquered by Romans, who were obsessed with order and as such they turned into a more cohesive entity with a central ruling government. On the other hand, Ireland and Scotland remained more or less unconquered with smaller local clans. Then they battled for centuries, and when the English did overtake Ireland and Scotland they tried to stamp out a lot of culture as well as people. An example of this is how they made it illegal to speak Irish or hold office if you were Catholic. It reminds me somewhat of what white American settlers did to Native Americans, although we would kidnap children. This conversation helped highlight some of the remaining animosity. An much less intense analogy could be if people thought that all the people who went to school in LA got along, when in reality USC and UCLA hate each other.
Up next we went to
Poulnabrone dolmen, a Neolithic portal tomb. I had actually heard about this from one of my good friends from here visit to Ireland. She had mentioned being disappointed by it because all the marketing material make it appear 45 feet tall, when in reality it is only 6 feet. Since it was on our way anyways we stopped by and having our expectations appropriately lowered, it was cool to see the evidence of people occupying this area between 4200 BC and 2900 BC .
Next was Ailwee cave, which was well marketed and well staffed (our tour guide had a PhD in Paleontology). It was in the news recently for the discovery of a 10,000 year old Bear Skull. My favorite part was the Goonies like cave waterfall and AJs might have been all the fossils.
Last but not least were the Cliffs of Moher. These are one of the most famous sites in Ireland, and as such I was glad AJ had planned ahead. He had gotten us tickets online the day before (which is cheaper), with a visiting window of 4-9 and the idea that it might be slightly less crowded and have nice light later in the day. It was still crowded, but we were able to get some good unobstructed views by hiking to the right along the cliff, past the official site. There is a trail there, but I still had a couple of mini heart attacks just seeing AJ so close to a 700 foot cliff. However it did live up to the hype, and it was STUNNING- dramatic sheer golden faces going straight into the sea and extending for 5 miles. It would be easy to believe in magic with views such as that.
We stayed until it closed at 9:00, and despite our worries actually made the hour drive home without our gps(aka my phone, whose battery had died) because Ireland has surprisingly good signage. The only problem was all the restaurants had stopped serving food. I normally eat at 5:30 pm and fall asleep by 8:30, so this usually wouldn’t be a problem. But lots of people were still out and about and the sun wasn’t fully set so this was a surprise. Luckily we were able to find an open Chinese take out spot, and after several runs through the Dromoland inn’s labyrinth like halls due to a demagnetized key card we were able to eat and crash. It was a wonderful exploring day.

Iran, US Clashes: What You Need to Know Now
The U.S. airstrike that killed a prominent Iranian general in Baghdad raises tensions even higher between Tehran and Washington, after months of trading attacks and threats across the wider Middle East.
How Iran will respond remains in question as well, though its supreme leader warned that a “harsh retaliation is waiting” for those who killed Revolutionary Guard Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani early Friday morning. That could include anything, from challenging U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf, firing ballistic missiles or deploying the asymmetrical proxy forces Iran has cultivated to cover for its long-sanctioned conventional forces.
Soleimani’s death is the latest in a series of escalating incidents traces back to President Donald Trump’s decision in 2018 to unilaterally withdraw America from Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers. However, overall enmity between Iran and the U.S. date back to its 1979 Islamic Revolution, as well as a 1953 U.S.-backed coup in Tehran that cemented the power of its ruling shah over an elected prime minister.
Here’s where things stand now:
THE GENERAL’S KILLING
A U.S. airstrike near Baghdad’s international airport killed Soleimani, 62, as well as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias in Iraq known as the Popular Mobilization Forces, and five others. The Defense Department said it killed Soleimani because he “was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region.” It also accused Soleimani of approving the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad earlier this week. Soleimani led the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard’s Quds, or Jerusalem, Force. That included overseeing forces fighting in Syria, as well as militias that targeted U.S. forces in Iraq with deadly bomb attacks after the 2003 invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.
MONTHS OF ATTACKS
Citing an unspecified threat from Iran, the White House in May ordered a U.S. aircraft carrier to rush to the Persian Gulf. Soon after, explosions the U.S. blames on Iranian-laid mines targeting oil tankers near the crucial Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of all oil passes. Iran denied being involved, though it did seize oil tankers in response to one of its tankers being seized off Gibraltar. Iran also shot down a U.S. military surveillance drone. Trump pulled back from retaliating for the attack. Meanwhile, attacks on Saudi Arabia’s energy industry escalated to a missile-and-drone strike in September temporarily halving its oil production. Israel meanwhile has repeatedly struck Iran-linked targets in Syria in recent years and has warned against any permanent Iranian presence on the frontier. The attacks culminated with American airstrikes hitting Iranian-backed militias in Iraq and those militiamen attacking the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
IRAN’S FALTERING NUCLEAR DEAL
The attacks came after Trump’s decision in May 2018 to withdraw America from Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers. The 2015 accord saw Iran agree to limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions. Trump re-imposed American sanctions and levied even harsher ones, crippling its crucial oil industry. Iran initially proposed a policy called “strategic patience,” hoping to wait Trump out. But as Europe largely hasn’t been able to offer Tehran a way around American sanctions, Iran has begun taking steps away from the deal. That has included breaking enrichment, stockpile and centrifuge limitations, as well as restarting its program at an underground facility. Tehran appears poised to take a new step away from the deal beginning from Sunday.

IRAN’S MEANS OF RETALIATION
Iran’s conventional military force is limited. The backbone of its air power remains pre-revolution American F-4s, F-5s and F-14s, with a mix of other Soviet, French and aging aircraft. That fleet is outgunned by the modern U.S.-supplied fighter jets flown by Israel and the Gulf Arab states. To counter that, Iran has put much of its money toward developing a ballistic missile program operated by the Guard. Iran could fall back on its regional militant allies or proxies to launch an attack, like Iraqi militiamen, Lebanon’s Hezbollah or Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The U.S. has blamed car bombs and kidnappings never claimed by Iran on Tehran as well. The Guard also routinely harasses U.S. Navy vessels in Persian Gulf and surrounding waterways, while Iran has surface-to-sea missile batteries along its coast as well.
AMERICA’S BROAD MIDEAST PRESENCE
The Persian Gulf hosts a series of major American military installations. The U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, which oversees the region, is based in Bahrain, an island nation off the coast of Saudi Arabia that is home to over 7,000 American troops. Kuwait hosts over 13,000 American troops and the U.S. Army’s Central forward headquarters. Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is the largest port of call for the U.S. Navy outside of America. The UAE hosts 5,000 U.S. military personnel, many at Abu Dhabi’s Al-Dhafra Air Base, where American drones and advanced F-35 jetfighters are stationed. The forward headquarters of the U.S. military’s Central Command is at Qatar’s sprawling Al-Udeid Air Base, home to some 10,000 American troops. In Oman, the sultanate allows thousands of overflights and hundreds of landings a year, while also granting access to ports and its bases. Meanwhile, U.S. forces are in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

A HISTORY OF ENMITY
Tensions between Iran and the U.S. trace back decades. For Iranians, they point to the 1953 CIA-backed coup that toppled Mohammad Mosaddegh and cemented the power of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Pahlavi served as a key U.S. ally for decades after, buying billions of dollars of weapons and allowing America to spy on the Soviet Union from his country. Over time, however, he eliminated all political opposition and seized all power in the country. By 1979, the fatally ill shah fled the country. The 1979 Islamic Revolution and the hostage crisis soon followed, a history the two countries remain captive to until today.
