Julianne's passion for decoration comes from her childhood when she was thinking all the time about new ways to upgrade her bedroom. All the rooms in her house are amazing, but the kitchen is something absolutely divine. Her cooking space is the best example of using textures and colours in the right ways. She successfully balances the blue kitchen cabinets by using glass panels as doors and tile as backsplash. It is a bold and bright kitchen remodelling idea, but at the same time, it is very airy and light. She has also created an intimate breakfast nook in her kitchen with the help of rattan bistro chairs and a pedestal table. Julianne Hough's kitchen is everything you can dream of. Gordon Ramsay Gordon Ramsay's kitchen is everything you would expect from a world-famous chef. He has multiple ovens, gorgeous oversized cabinets and massive stainless-steel appliances. His cooking space looks like something coming from one of his famous TV shows. Besides being eye-catching, his kitchen is also practical, a must for such a talented cook. He has many sinks, fancy cooking equipment, a huge fridge, and various copper saucepans hanging above his kitchen's island. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher The architecture and interior of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis's house are beautiful and modern. They made a bold move in their kitchen by integrating black cabinetry with wood accents. Although the house has a farmhouse sitting, the modern kitchen works somehow with the other details in the house. The pitched roof, exposed beams and the Hector Finch pendants make their kitchen visually appealing. Miley Cyrus Designer Mat Sanders and Tish Cyrus, Miley's mother, were the brains behind the singer's kitchen. The cooking space of Miley Cyrus is a juxtaposition of colours, patterns and design styles. The kitchen has accents of black and white and a sculptural dining table. The accessories in the kitchen are well chosen and stand out in the white cabinetry. Reese Witherspoon Reese Witherspoon is not shy of showing her kitchen on Instagram. And who can blame her if the kitchen looks amazing and anyone would like to sit there? Her cooking space has a lot of things to be admired, but maybe the most beautiful element is her powder blue cabinets. Dita Von Teese Dita Von Teese has a retro kitchen best described as eccentric and dramatic. Just by looking at the star's kitchen, you would feel like you have a journey in time. Her cabinetry has a deep green shade that perfectly matches the golden pink elements and tiles of the countertops. The beautiful accents don't stop there, as Dita's ceiling also needs to be admired, as it is dramatically panelled. Her kitchen is glamorous, where the Art Décor meets Tudor style and creates a timeless design. Hilary Duff Hilary Duff's kitchen is an eclectic dream. She has some bohemian blue cabinets that pair well with the white and black tiles. Her kitchen also has golden details, beautiful bar stools, and modern mid-century lamps. The statement of her kitchen is the blue colour and the geometric patterned tiles. Dakota Johnson The home of Dakota Johnson is a beautiful lodge. Her bohemian kitchen has vintage accents with home accessories that vary in design and style. Dakota has a sage green kitchen that is absolutely gorgeous. She has natural elements of wood, touches of crystals and tall windows that bring in the natural light. Sylvester Stallone Sylvester Stallone owned a property in La Quinta, a Coachella Valley Californian city. However, he sold the house for $3.15 million. Unfortunately, with his sale, he said goodbye to the beautiful kitchen of the house. Stallone's kitchen had dark wood cabinetry, a wood and stone centre island and stone floors. The kitchen was created to match the other elements of his Mediterranean-inspired house, which is why the cooking space had a cast iron chandelier, wood carvings and vaulted doors. Final words Celebrities are known for having some of the most outrageously expensive homes equipped with designer finishes and the finest amenities, with the idea of a dream home written all over them. In Kerala, people keep cultural values close to their heart, and include traditional values in the elements of their homes.
Generally, kitchens are used for storing, preparing, and cooking food. But nowadays because technology is evolving, people use kitchen space for dining, dishwashing, and sometimes for washing and ironing clothes too.
Traditional kitchen design in Kerala style
Traditional layouts are considered to be simple kitchen designs Kerala style. They give a vintage look to your kitchen and also feel aesthetically pleasing. In traditional Kerala kitchens, everything from cabinets to tables is made up of wood. Unlike a modular kitchen, it lacks automatic appliances.

While a cooking island needs a bigger kitchen, this simple kitchen design takes less space and gives off a sleek and glossy finish. If you believe in Vastu Shastra, then you can design in a particular direction as per Vastu. Stainless steels are used over the wooden cabinets to make a countertop. This countertop gives you the feel of a modern kitchen.

Decent and minimal style
If you are a minimalist, then design your kitchen with cool tones and keep appliances to a minimum. You can choose a modular or traditional style, as per your liking. However, giving it a decent and clean look with pastel shades will give off a high-standard-looking kitchen vibe. For counters, you can use white marbles and for cabinets, engineered wood is the way to go. For backsplash, you can use either tiles or fiber.
Open kitchen
Having an open kitchen attached to your hall is a modern trend in today’s architecture. It has a lot of benefits and you can even add a dining table in the hall beside your kitchen. Corridor-style kitchen
Sometimes we have a very small place to design our kitchen. Small space doesn’t mean you can’t have a beautiful kitchen. One of the layouts for designing a smaller kitchen is corridor design. Storage is usually from upper to lower cabinets and different counter spaces for cooking. You can even keep a microwave under the cook top.

U-shaped kitchen
These days, one of the most popular kitchen designs is the U-shaped kitchen as it gives people plenty of space and storage. All the panels are arranged in a U-shape and leave a good amount of floor space.

You can design it in two ways - either use contrast color to your overall kitchen or make it seamless using minimalist colors. You can even use materials like acrylic sheets, glossy tiles, mosaics, and lights.
Theme-based kitchen
Using the same materials and the same color all over your kitchen can make it look very trendy and stylish. Like using red and white or beige and brown, it can really lift up the aura of the kitchen and showcase your unique taste.
Use traditional elements from Kerala Kitchen
Add elements like kindi and brass bowl to add a cultural aspect to the kitchen. For walls and floors, use natural materials like terracotta and brick. These are preferable and enhance Kerala’s simple kitchen design.
Go futuristic with your design
Take the help of an interior designer and install ceramics or pastel engineering woods for your cabinets. Use some patterns on the wall and invest in lighting, it will make your small kitchen look luxurious.
Design it in an organic manner
Something raw and simple kitchen design yet stylish sumps up as an organic design. Use natural materials instead of fabricated versions. Keep the design very natural and easy. Like the wood wall cabinet with plain backsplash. This is one of the effortless designs for your space.
Lavish and luxurious design
If you don’t have any budget restrictions and a large space, you can go with luxurious designs. It is not very popular to have a very lavish kind of kitchen, but it is unique, and you can give a thought about it. A combination of marble counters, high ceilings, bigger lights, wooden cabinets with glass doors, and showcase compartments with expensive items is what makes a kitchen luxurious and opulent.

Available Modular Kitchen Design Photos That Boom the Kitchen World
Designing a Kitchen in an Indian Home
From our grandparents' generations' use of brick stoves, copper containers, and earthen urns to today's modular kitchen design, Indian kitchen designs have developed over time. Given the level of hospitality we extend to friends and family, a kitchen is essential in any Indian home. In addition, most of our festivals and special occasions revolve around food — Holi, Diwali, New Year, birthdays, and anniversaries all include delectable food spreads.
Because of our specific relationship with the kitchen, this section of your home demands extra attention. You will come across a list of the top 10 Indian kitchen design ideas that can help you create a beautiful kitchen without sacrificing utility or efficiency. We offer everything you'll need to achieve this ideal balance in the interior design of your kitchen by means of Modular Kitchen Design Photos.
· A Straight, Simple Kitchen with Smart Storage
One of the most frequent kitchen designs in India is the straight kitchen. It's straightforward, space-saving, and trim. This kitchen design is ideal for city inhabitants with small flats. To keep your kitchen clutter-free, consider adding skirting drawers, pantry pull-outs, oil pull-outs, and decorative hooks for your spoon and cooking utensils. You must provide adequate illumination in your kitchen so that you can cook comfortably.
·A Kitchen with Two Toned Cabinets and a Foldable Dining Table
We Indians appreciate spending time with our families during mealtime. During the day, the family usually gathers around the dining table for at least one meal. We can see a kitchen design that is suitable for Indian households in this photograph. Without taking up any additional room, a foldable dining table with hidden storage improves the efficiency of this kitchen. You can use the table for meals with your family and friends and then put it away when you're not using it. The hidden storage allows you to stack all your essentials without taking up valuable counter space in your central kitchen. Dual-colored cabinets give this kitchen a contemporary style while providing ample storage for grains, masalas, heavy tools, and more. The foldable dining table allows the entire family to gather around the table for a meal. This design is ideal for parents with children who want to instill sound, traditional values in their children by making mealtime a family affair. Yes, there are situations when you should avoid watching Netflix while eating!
· A Simple Kitchen With A Breakfast Table That Pulls Out
The adage says, "A family that eats together stays together." This is certainly something your grandparents and parents have told you. However, due to the hectic lifestyles of city dwellers, it is nearly impossible for all family members to gather for a meal. And, because of the space constraints in today's flats, homeowners cannot purchase substantial dining tables. We attempted to overcome this problem in this design. A pull-out breakfast counter is included in this kitchen's design. It's a simple yet innovative idea that saves space while providing a much-needed tabletop for you and your family to have a few meals together throughout the day. This design is also multifunctional, as it may be used as a chopping board, a study table for your children, or additional countertop space for entertaining guests while cooking. It is an excellent example of combining time-honored traditions with a modern lifestyle.
· A Kitchen in the Indian Style with Brick Cladding Walls
This kitchen design has a lovely rustic appeal. It has been designed with a brick cladding wall and is earthy and inviting. Indian design sensibilities are reflected in sustainable design and decor. The rustic feel of this kitchen appeals to a wide range of people. The historical attractiveness of this kitchen's interior design is enhanced by warm wooden cabinets, brick cladding walls, and the rough texture of the shelves. It transports us to a time when our grandmothers used copper vessels while maintaining the utility of today's modular kitchens.
· A Wine Rack in a Modern Indian Kitchen
These days, urban Indians are well-traveled and have been exposed to western lifestyles and culture. So, if you're willing to trade a glass of lassi for a bottle of well-aged wine with your meal, this is the one for you! A breakfast counter is featured in this design, which is flanked by an open wine rack unit. It's an ideal location for preparing meals or enjoying the notion of wine and dine with friends and family. In addition, you won't have to worry about finding storage for your wine collection if you have a designated area to store it. Because not everyone can afford a wine cellar, this is a must-have design tip for any urban Indian!
· An Indian Kitchen With Plenty Of Natural Light
If there's one thing an Indian kitchen needs, it's plenty of natural light. Because of the complexity of Indian cooking and the long hours spent making food, having a well-lit kitchen is essential. It keeps your kitchen light, breezy, and perfect for cooking multiple meals throughout the day. When you design your kitchen, make sure the space delineated has a large window with glass panels to bring in sunlight. White-tiled flooring and glossy laminates for kitchen cabinetry are additional options. White reflects light, making your room appear larger, airier, and well-lit at all times.
· An Island Countertop in an Indian Kitchen
An island countertop is a versatile piece of furniture that improves the efficiency of your kitchen layout. It becomes the main architectural point of your kitchen while also providing ample space for meal preparation, storage, and consuming meals on the go. To add more storage and working space to your kitchen, consider installing a hob, an in-built sink, shelves, and drawers at the bottom. Then, with a few nice-looking high chairs and pendant lights, you've created the ideal hangout spot for friends and family.
· A Single Or Coupled Small Indian Kitchen Design
You are looking for a subtle Indian kitchen design that isn't too complicated? We've thought of everything! This Indian kitchen design appears minor, but it contains all of the necessities for daily life. It includes a mix of overhead and base cabinets, a breakfast counter, and an open wine rack unit. This kitchen's practicality is enhanced with internal appliance space, a hob, and a chimney. This compact Indian kitchen design features a relaxing color scheme that is perfect for small spaces. If you live with or with your partner, this is the one for you!
· A Chalkboard Backsplash in the Kitchen
This kitchen design is perfect for you if you enjoy bringing creativity into every room of your home. Turn your backsplash into a blank canvas and let your imagination run wild. It's a great place to keep track of your grocery list, the daily menu or let your kids doodle as you cook. Make a list of your favorite recipes, diet charts, and motivational quotes. This will give your Indian kitchen design a sleek appeal while also adding a fun aspect.
· Natural Stone Flooring and a Countertop in a Kitchen
Natural materials are an essential component of Indian kitchen design. Natural stones such as marble and granite are pretty popular among Indians. Natural stones like marble and granite, no matter how modern we are, have a timeless charm. Try marble flooring and countertops if you want to add a traditional touch with a dash of luxury. While this material requires a lot of upkeep and is pricey, the beauty and luxurious effect it provides are worth every penny.
We hope our Indian kitchen designs inspire you to create a one-of-a-kind design for your kitchen. Are you still undecided about the layout or materials to use? In that case, you can visit any of our experience centers to see our stunning modular kitchen ideas.

Top Home Millennial Trends
Millennials are today's trendsetters in everything from food to fashion, and even interior design.
It’s also the reason we have put together this list of 10 millennial renovation trends that everyone should embrace. Even if you aren’t a millennial, we’re sure that these few ideas are a perfect fit for everyone.
Interior firm: Urban Habitat Design
1. Efficient, open-plan kitchens
Interior firm: Adroit ID
Yes, it’s true, Gen Y homeowners do cook.
And the first step to making good food? Having an open kitchen with plenty of natural light, appliances that are both stylish and efficient as well as joint dining spaces for social interaction.
2. Concrete
Interior firm: Free Space Intent
All sorts of indoor features, from flooring to even kitchen islands, can be created from this edgy, grey material, due to its versatility both as a surface coating and a building material.
If you’re not a fan of actual concrete, go for the tiles and wall panels, which perfectly replicate its neutral look and smooth feel.
3. Bold Hues
Interior firm: Home Philosophy
Bold colours, such as emerald green and navy blue, are now the trending colours because of their flexibility.
These hues are the perfect choice of colour for any stylish home, conveying sophistication through their richness and edgy statement charm. They are perfect for room accents or serving as the perfect foils to simple, minimalist white walls.
4. House plants
Credit: House of Chais
Having some form of greenery indoors is another common thread that ties millennial homes together, and it has everything to do with the near-effortless, natural feel that plants bring to any interior.
A pot of succulents for your home work perfectly as well. Plus, they don’t demand much attention either; water them once a week and you’ll have a beautiful subject for all those Instagram moments.
5. DIY elements
Credit: Herman Yap
DIY projects are getting popular in millennial homes: just take a look on Pinterest, or check out our story on how one lecturer styled his 3-room flat with self-made dividers, murals and Japanese paper screen doors.
6. Hexagonal Tiles
Interior firm: IN-EXPAT
Looks familiar? Hexagonal tiles have been around since the retro days, and they are now making a huge comeback in today’s homes. And while these tiles may seem basic by millennial standards, they are anything but that.
Belying their simple six-sided form, modern-day hexagonal tiles can be embossed with a wide variety of patterns and colours (e.g. stone, marble) and are frequently used to spice up bathroom flooring and kitchen backsplashes alike.
7. Unique hardware and fittings
Interior firm: Aart Boxx Interior
Regular handles, knobs and just about any piece of hardware are no longer an option. Instead, replace with them with sleeker, fancier options, like leather pulls and matte-black taps, that’ll capture the attention of all who enter your bathroom/kitchen/bedroom.
8. Spherical lamps
Interior firm: erstudio
Spherical lamps are a must-have in any Gen Y-ers’ home in need of elegant lighting solutions that look great anywhere, whether displayed alone or against a calming neutral backdrop.
Style tip: Juxtapose these lamps against clean lines (like those of a rectangular headboard) to create an eye-catching contrast between different forms.
9. Herringbone
Interior Firm: Happe Design Atelier
A huge part of herringbone’s appeal lies in its simplicity: Any rectangular form , can be laid together to create a low-key fancy look for everything from walls to flooring.
Want to get in on this trend fast? Either check out local furniture store Commune’s Bruno collection online or drop by their showrooms IRL.
10. Thoughtful storage and furniture
Interior firm: Neu Konceptz
We all love a space that looks as good as it functions, who wants a storage feature that isn’t designed without intent? Think oversized wardrobes that are too tall for their users or drawers that are too small to fit anything.
Get a bookshelf that doubles as a display table, build recessed racks, or create a dedicated nook for personal belongings. But whatever your idea of a useful storage solution is, you do you. After all, it’s your home that we’re talking about here.
Create a space you love

Ikea movable walls
Ikea movable walls full#
Ikea movable walls portable#
Right above it is a stainless steel pendant lamp for accent.
Ikea movable walls full#
The movable kitchen island at the center of the kitchen stands on carved legs and has a full cabinet base with dark walnut top, matching the wood tone of the flooring. The kitchen cabinets are all in an of-white color, making it stand out against the dark walnut floors. This lovely kitchen uses neo-classic inspired motifs and applies it on the kitchen design. The result is a very unique kitchen island, which can even become a conversation piece.Ĭlassic-inspired interiors calls for classic-inspired kitchens. The base of the island is made from two wooden wine liquor barrels, while its top is from an old dining table with its legs removed. In the middle of the kitchen is a very unique movable kitchen island which is made of salvaged/re-purposed materials. Rustic finishes and elements can be found throughout this kitchen, combined with other modern elements/finishes, creating a rustic kitchen which looks light instead of heavy. The slim framing and construction of the narrow kitchen island gives it a light and modern look, while the open shelves underneath helps make the kitchen look open and bright. For the kitchen island, instead of similarly styled fixed island, this kitchen uses a movable kitchen island in solid pine wood. To counter the bold color of the walls, the kitchen used white cabinets with gray counters and white backsplash tiles. Yellow gold walls gives this transitional style kitchen a bright and cheerful vibe. This island is made purely of wood and has a long rectangular shape with one open shelf below. Similar to the wood finishes of the walls and ceiling of this space, the movable kitchen island uses solid oiled teak wood, keeping the natural beauty of its color. The over-all interior of the spaces has that classic cabin-like feel, using natural finishes in their natural earthy tones. It provides a nice break from the uniform finish/color of the walls and the kitchen, adding more personalty to the kitchen. Using large pieces of solid wood and a thick wooden slab for the top, it has a slid and heavy look, but has rustic look. this movable kitchen island stands out with its natural weathered wood finish. Surrounded by classic style kitchen cabinets. This small kitchen island perfectly complements the kitchen and completes the look. Antiqued white painted legs with open shelf topped with a block of salvaged wood in its natural finish really gives that rustic appeal. Matching the modern rustic style of the whole kitchen space, this mobile kitchen gives that authentic weathered look.
Ikea movable walls portable#
Whether you want a butcher block countertop surface for meal prep, stainless steel, granite or concrete surface you can find it in a portable island. From portable carts, or tables and islands with legs or wheels you can find a style to match your specific kitchen style. There are a variety of types of movable kitchen islands. The lower part of the base is open instead of having a fully-enclosed storage space, making it look lighter. It has a solid oak wood base, matching the floors of the kitchen and has a thick slab of marble on top. In the picture above, this movable kitchen island is quite small in size, with proportions and form reminiscent of console tables. The variety of portable kitchen islands means you can have fun and add your own personal style to your kitchen space. Rolling kitchen islands can be ideal to give you extra food prep space as well as give your kitchen a little more design flair. A movable kitchen island is ideal for those who don’t want a costly remodel or have a small profile kitchen. In this gallery we share a variety of portable kitchen islands with rolling and movable designs.

15 Kerala Simple Kitchen Design Tips for Small Homes
A kitchen is the heart of any home; it is where food and memories get made! That’s why designing the best kitchen for yourself can be challenging. A simple kitchen design Kerala style can offer both beauty and functionality. It will also compliment your home interiors in the best possible manner.
Kitchen with suspended cabinets
For small homes, suspended cabinets are undoubtedly quite efficient.
Modular kitchen
If you think you need a very spacious kitchen to make it modular, then you are wrong. Modular designs are flexible for both big and small kitchens. It is basically a modern way of designing cabinets and compartments so that they provide you more comfort. In modular kitchen designs, cabinets have smooth sliding features and have well-designed internal sections that keep your utensils organized.
This design also makes space for a cooking island with cabinets. Cabinets need to be very intelligently designed so that they can complement your living room.
Add a retro look to your kitchen design
This is one of the most affordable designs for small houses. In Kerala, people prefer this kind of design because it looks classic and vintage. For designing this kitchen, you can use the other furniture of your home as well. Like using a table as a kitchen island, oversized lights, and a vintage-looking floor.
Contemporary kitchen
A contemporary kitchen offers a mix of traditional and modern interior design. It is an inexpensive transformation of your cooking space, and adds style and class. This design involves horizontal lines, asymmetry, and other ornamentation that help to create a walk-through around the dining table.
U-shaped kitchen
These days, one of the most popular kitchen designs is the U-shaped kitchen as it gives people plenty of space and storage. All the panels are arranged in a U-shape and leave a good amount of floor space.
Trendy backsplash
Mostly the center of your kitchen is the backsplash, so styling it may create a unique look for your kitchen.
There are many ways in which you can use simple kitchen designs Kerala style to make your kitchen more functional and decorative. Whether you want a natural look or a modern look, it’s all possible and customizable. Moreover, having a comforting and aesthetic kitchen can uplift the value of your home.

New Year, New Beautiful Homes of Instagram
Hello, my wonderful friends! How are you in 2019? Did anything happen? Did a switch turn on, bringing more Light into your heart during this first week of this New Year? It’s been terribly cold, gloomy and dark out there. The weather is miserable and it’s easy to feel the winter blues insistently knocking on my door, but I am not opening it… instead, I decided to take a small break during the Holidays to do what I love the most in life; which is spending time with my family and work whenever I feel inspired. I took a small break and I am finally feeling like myself again… nothing makes you feel more centered than being able to slow down and hear your own thoughts, and that was exactly what I did.
During this New Year, I certainly hope to continue to listen to what’s inside of my heart and that goes to what I want to share with you here on Home Bunch. I have to be completely honest with you guys. I am tired of cold homes, everything looks the same these days. Although I will always bring the latest trends to my readers, one of my main goals this year is to share homes that feel more like real homes, homes that have character and feel loved, and that starts with this year’s first “Beautiful Homes of Instagram”. Please, get to know Erin from The Heart and Haven. She’s someone that will inspire you to transform your current home into your “home-sweet-home”!
Hi, my name is Erin @theheartandhaven and I’m a home renovator, home décor enthusiast and mother. I have always enjoyed staring at all the pretty things, but I never realized how much joy I would find in creating them until my husband and I bought a 1950s fixer upper about five years ago.
My husband and I are high school sweethearts from the Jersey Shore. We dated long-distance throughout college and upon graduation, we decided to move across the country to start our life together in Los Angeles. I worked in television before deciding to become a stay at home mom when I had my first son. I now have two boys, ages 7 and 4.
After getting married, we purchased a newly-built, builder-grade condo in Los Angeles and while the finishes were not exactly my taste, I was excited to just have a place to call our own and honestly never thought about changing anything. Two years after having my son and really craving some private outdoor space to have him run around, we searched our neighborhood to find a house. We found a corner house only a few blocks away on a beautiful, wide tree-lined street. It was custom built in 1950, and nothing had been updated since then. The house was head- to-toe covered in orange wood (floors, ceilings, walls, you name it!). The bathrooms had parquet linoleum, the staircase had scrolling wrought iron and each room had ceiling fixtures hanging so low that it made the 8 ft. ceilings feel much smaller. Having no reno experience under my belt, I still felt that this 2400 sq. ft. house had potential. Thus began our renovation journey, and we lived through all of it! I don’t think I knew what my style was when we started renovating our home and decisions often had to be made quickly. There are some things I would change, but I have learned so much throughout this process. And five years later, I think I have found my casually modern, beachy-boho style through decorating it , and it has truly become a passion of mine.
New Year, New Beautiful Homes of Instagram
Our kitchen was the last major renovation. After living in what felt like a wooden cave, I wanted our new kitchen to be light and bright. We took down the wall that separated the kitchen from our playroom to open it up. I had always wanted an island but, due to building codes, the island would have been very small. So, I adjusted my vision and was able to have the counter space and seating area by making it into a peninsula instead.
Peninsula measures 6 ft x 4.5 ft. and counters are Salt White Marble.
Paint Color: Valspar Mountain Mist.
Kettle: Crate & Barrel.
“Let’s Stay Home” sign: Here.
Runner & Flooring
This pink kitchen runner is one of the cheeriest pieces of home décor I own. I paired it with the wallpaper to make our kitchen more playful.
Runner: Here.
Flooring: Wickham Hardwood, Maple (color Walnut) – similar here, here & here.
Cabinet Paint Color
Kitchen cabinets are Maple, painted Benjamin Moore White.
Canisters: West Elm.
Backsplash is Daltile Subway Tile, 3×6 in Arctic White – similar here.
Appliances: Thermador Range, GE Café Series Refrigerator.
Marble Clock: Sur la Table.
Cabinet Cup Pulls: Hickory Hardware.
Sink & Faucet
While it might not be the most picturesque faucet, I love how we can turn the faucet on and off without dripping on our marble counters. Definitely a functional win!
Kitchen Faucet: Faucet, Moen Motionsense Chrome.
Kitchen Sink: 33” Farmhouse Fireclay Sink.
Kitchen Towel: Kate Spade.
Lighting & Barstools
When choosing the pendants over our peninsula, I didn’t want to compete with the chandelier in the nook. These cone pendants with their antique brass interior echoed the glam of the chandelier without overwhelming the space.
Barstools: Serena & Lily.
Lighting: Visual Comfort – 15 Inch Wide.
Utensil Holder: West Elm.
Breakfast Nook
I loved the idea of a breakfast nook and wanted to make it feel special, so I went with wallpaper and a statement chandelier. I think the wallpaper adds so much personality to this otherwise all white kitchen. I then paired it with a more rustic feeling table and chairs to contrast the crisp, geometric design.
Table is RH – similar here, here, here, here & here.
Chairs are RH – similar here & here.
Pillows: here, here, here, here, here & here.
Chandelier & Wallpaper
Wallpaper is from Serena & Lily in Denim.
Chandelier is Visual Comfort.
Playroom
After taking down the wall between the kitchen and the playroom, this is now our view. Since this is the room my sons hang out in the most, it had to be functional for them but also flow with our kitchen.
Sofa is from HD Buttercup
Window Treatment throughout home are plantation shutters by American Vision Windows
Paint Color
The barstools had to become part of the design for the playroom because of the open concept, so going slightly more coastal in this room with the oversized beach print and using blue accents in the room helped tie things together.
Paint color is Valspar Mountain Mist.
Inspired by this Look:

Sofa
Some might think a white sofa and children do not go together. And they would be right! However, I love the crisp look of a white sofa so I chose a slipcover that can be removed and washed.

Our sectional is actually a recliner and the chaise lifts up for hidden storage. I love how functional it is for our family.
While there is still updating to do to this room, we recently removed the metal stair railings and replaced it with a wooden banister. Painting and staining the banister was a beast! But it was well worth it.

Tropical plants fill indoor courtyard at Casa Las Vistas in Costa Rica
Design studios Zürcher Arquitectos and Taller KEN took cues from the lush forests around San José while designing this courtyard house.
Casa Las Vistas is set into a hillside that overlooks the landscape surrounding Costa Rica's capital city.
Casa Las Vistas is set on a hill overlooking San José
The residence was designed by local firm Zürcher Arquitectos, while the interior design was overseen by Taller KEN, which has offices in San José, Guatemala City and New York.
It was created for a couple – Hector Anchia and Indiana Trejos – and their three young boys. Anchia is the owner of two companies: Kamalio, a retailer of furniture and finishes, and AIE Construction, which built the house.
The house is set over three levels
Encompassing 743 square metres, the rectilinear home rises three levels. Exterior walls are made of poured-in-place concrete, with steel framing incorporated into certain areas.
Generous windows frame expansive views of the terrain, while deep overhangs provide shade. Warm-toned iroko wood wraps the underside of the roof eaves.
A green courtyard sits inside the house
Within the dwelling, interiors are arranged to keep the focus on exterior views. Earthy materials such as slate, wood and marble help tie the home to its site.
"The refined material palette and curated furnishings draw attention to the natural surroundings, bringing greenery into the interiors of the home," said Taller KEN.
The living area is open plan
The ground floor encompasses an open-plan living and dining area, an adjoining kitchen, a small bedroom, and laundry facilities.
In the kitchen, the team incorporated porcelain tile flooring and an island topped with Nero Marquina marble, with side counters made of a white quartz composite.
Exterior walls are made of concrete
Cabinets have a black lacquer finish or walnut veneer. Backsplashes are covered with black-and-white tiles with a zig-zag pattern.
The double-height living space features tile flooring, leather sofas and a wood-and-metal coffee table. The airy room is "dominated by the long, arching line of a tropical plant that reaches up toward iroko wood ceilings" added the studio.
The kitchen island is topped with dark marble
Just off the lounge area is an indoor garden filled with lush plants, including the pacaya palm and several umbrella plants.
The courtyard is surrounded by walls wrapped in grey porcelain tiles. A stretch of skylights brings in natural light.
"Here, in contrast within its minimal surrounds, nature is presented as a striking sculptural statement," the team said.
A wooden staircase ascends past the indoor garden
A staircase made of wood, metal and glass leads to the upper level, which houses sleeping areas. A bridge traverses the courtyard and separates the master suite from two additional bedrooms and lounge space.
Like the lower level, the top floor maintains a connection to the home's tropical context. In one of the corner bedrooms, bamboo plants press up against tall windows.
Bamboo pressed against the bedroom window
The master bathroom is fitted with round mirrors, walnut-faced vanities and a glass-walled shower. A glazed opening connects to a patio with potted plants and an outdoor shower.
The home's lowest floor holds a lounge, kitchenette and dining area, which are fully open to the outdoors. A large canopy offers protection from the sun.
The bathroom features an outdoor shower
Just off the lounge space is a tented hanging chair and steps leading down to a verdant lawn.
Known for its scenic terrain, Costa Rica is a popular spot for homes that embrace the natural context. Other dwellings there include a residence by Studio Saxe that is covered with charred teak wood, a concrete villa in the jungle by Formafatal and Refuel Works, and a treehouse-inspired nature retreat by Olson Kundig Architects.

With glints of metal, Somerville condo shines
$795,000 Style Condo Year built 2020 Square feet 1,264 Bedrooms 2 Baths 2 full Taxes To be determined Fee $250 a month for water, sewer, master insurance, and exterior maintenance
Located between Somerville’s Winter Hill and Magoun Square neighborhoods and designed to evoke a visual connection to a New England barn, this unit is one of four in a new-from-the-ground-up condo building on the raised section of Broadway.
Constructed in 2020 behind a Civil War-era home, the condo is reached via a wooden stairwell and a door that opens directly into the unit. The condo has an open floor plan encompassing the kitchen and living and dining areas. These three vital spaces together total 410 square feet and showcase both the staging of the unit by Larissa Santana and the elegant choices made by interior designer/Compass realtor Erica Covelle and Lavelle Development.
The walls and ceilings are a welcoming white (a lovely departure from the typical builder’s white), and the flooring is oak with a natural look. The living area currently holds a couch, three armchairs, an end table, and a clear coffee table.
The dining area is defined by a chandelier that looks as if it were created out of copper piping. It ends in six candle-like glass bulbs. A bank of four windows floods the space with light, while recessed lighting awaits the flip of a switch when the sun sets.
The kitchen itself is about 140 square feet and defined by an island that has seating for four, a deep sink with a gold-tone faucet, and two white cone-shaped pendant lights with golden interiors. The appliances are stainless steel, and the backsplash is made of stacked subway tile and a slab of dolomite. White custom cabinets continue the precious metal theme with gold-toned pulls. The counters are super white dolomite.
A door off the kitchen opens to a full bath with a shower/tub combination, a single wood vanity topped with white quartz, a pill-shaped mirror trimmed in gold, gold-toned hardware and fixtures, open shelving, and a two-shaded sconce with golden arms. The shower surround is a white subway tile, while the flooring is a hexagon porcelain tile that mimics Carrara marble.
Another door off the kitchen opens into one of the unit’s two bedrooms. It’s about 132 square feet and flooded with sunlight, compliments of a slider to a private balcony. The room has a ceiling of 9-plus feet and a double-door closet.
The owner suite is down a flight of stairs with black steel railings, locating it in the most private space in the unit. The bedroom — at 168 square feet, one of the largest spaces in the home — has engineered flooring that mimics hardwood and a walk-in closet. At this size, there is plenty of room for a desk. Natural light comes from a pair of windows. The en-suite bath offers a shower with a gray ceramic tile surround installed in a herringbone pattern, a rain shower head, and a floor of round penny ceramic mosaic tile. The shower is doorless.
Somerville is ruthless on parking violators, but fear not, the unit comes with a parking space — and it’s an assigned spot. The home also comes with exclusive use of the patio.
Erica Covelle, the interior designer, is also the listing agent. As of press time, an offer with a contingency had been accepted on the property.

Innovative Ways To Use Luxury Marble For Designing Home Interiors
Marble has made a modern comeback in the world of interior designing. Some might picture it as a cold stone, but this is far from the truth. Like diamonds, marble is one of nature’s most astonishingly beautiful creations. With a rich heritage, the stone is associated with luxury and worldliness that brings elegance and sophistication in your homes.
Marble comes in rich colours like blue, black, brown, beige, green, red, white, pink and so on. With distinct veining patterns, the stone creates a beautiful environment for living and work spaces. Popularly known as luxury marble, the stone is used for various applications such as floorings, walls, countertops, vanities, sinks and basins, home accessories, wall claddings, mosaics, staircases, tabletops and others. Also, adding small doses of it as accents and statement pieces will not overwhelm the eye, but will create a classic modern look.
Let’s take a walk through some innovative ways to use marble for contemporary home decor.
Columns and dividers
Nowadays, open-concept living is becoming a trend. Whether it is a small studio apartment, loft or a spacious family home, open spaces make the place look less stuffy and confined. The idea of open space living is quite liberating. It gives you ideas and inspiration to use space in different ways. These spaces may lack walls, and you want to delineate the room space to keep everything organized.
Columns and dividers are a great choice to give an edge to any room space. Marble will add decorative touches to both columns and half-walls, making them stand out in the interior.
Interior walls and flooring
For a luxurious look, marble is an excellent option for both interior floors and walls. Luxury marble flooring gives a sophisticated look into any space, especially when combined with other modern materials. Floorings are a great way to add a luxury feel to a dining space or master bedroom.
Adding marble backsplash with a matching countertop would incorporate a modern look in the kitchen. For a contemporary living, the minimalist look is refreshing to live a neat, organized and clutter-free life. Light colours such as white, beige, neutral greys and pastel shades are used to create minimal homes. Especially, lighter shades of marble provide perfectly well-lit spaces.
If both walls and floors are covered in marble, space might end up looking too cold and empty. However, by just choosing one, you can tie just the right touch of modernism to your home.
Modern furniture
Luxury marble makes an excellent material for furniture. It is strong, sturdy and will last a lifetime. A coloured tabletop could add just the right pop of colour needed to bring your space to life. Tabletops and countertops made of marble, create stunning visual appeal that will elevate the interior look instantly.
Italian marble is a popular choice for manufacturing elegant and sleek countertops, bar tops, vanities and tabletops. The stone is an excellent choice for kitchen islands, coffee tables and even outdoor tables in patio areas. Marble furniture in the interiors majorly features clean lines and curves to enhance the visual appeal of the space.
Home accessories
Installing luxury marble flooring, walls and countertops can be an expensive commitment. The same effect can be achieved by using decor items and smaller accessories instead. A pair of marbled lamps would be a nice focal point by your bedside. Candles and accessories holders can add a minimal touch to your bathroom. Also, kitchen accessories such as fruit bowls, cutting boards, and spice holders would offer the same pop of classical style without the hefty price tag.
Final Thoughts
Marble as a building material is doing huge favours on interior designers all around the world. To incorporate a luxurious look for interiors, Italian marble is more preferable over all other building stones that are available in the market. Try these interior design trends in your home and uplift your interior look instantly.
