So the Soundwave ship question. You mentioned Soundwave and cycloneus, but have you seen Soundwave and whirl?

Weird ship, but some Whirl/Soundwave headcanons would be nice. I like the idea of one openly loyal boi and one closeted in his heavy loyalty to friends and partners alike.

- Everyone is so afraid of them. Soundwave because of his high ranking in the Decepticons and tactical ability, and Whirl because he’s Whirl.

- Others tend to think that Soundwave could have done better, but if they dare say anything like that, or anything derogatory about Whirl, they should be afraid of him.

- They balance each other out quite nicely, Whirl gets Soundwave to be more spontaneous and extroverted, and Soundwave is good at calming Whirl down and reminding him of what’s important, especially if Whirl is getting upset at something small.

Whirl: What! Of course i know where she is! vaguely. Look I’m not possessive like you, I let my kid have some space. A lot of space. Like a couple galaxies worth.

One Word Prompt for SW and pairing of your choosing : comforting

Soundwave/Whirl for the prompt of "comforting" and under a readmore for length (I know these are supposed to be 5 sentences but I got carried away, as always)

When Soundwave went to Whirl, upset, hurting, instead of hiding in his own quarters, he arrived to an empty room. The first time, he doesn't have Laserbeak.

So he stands alone in the mech's hab, shaking with a barely contained rage, fresh hand-sized dents in the thin plating of his arms that leaves his hands trembling. Even if his reason for coming here instead of hiding wasn't present, Soundwave wasn't leaving. He'd curl up on the couch and wait for Whirl if he had to.

It was better than returning to the cold, dreadful Nemesis and facing his former friend's wrath. It's warm here, at least. There's no reason to go wandering the whole ship, either.

By the time Whirl does get back, he's already dozing off. The door sliding open goes unnoticed by the dark mech, but the loud, semi-amused chuff above him does not. Soundwave just turned his head to stare up at the blue mech. There was no anger left in him; just exhaustion and hurt, a want for comfort. The amusement in that yellow optic vanishes as it catches sight of the dents, and Soundwave doesn't protest as he's promptly lifted off the couch and into Whirl's arms.

He doesn't protest, but a high keen of pain is what leaves him when Whirl eventually seems satisfied with his angry muttering and gingerly looking at the dents and asks him what happened. The soft shushing noise Whirl makes is accompanied by a soft - almost missed - promise to "get that bastard for this" before he's carried away on a mission to either see a medic for his arms or blankets to stop him from freezing.

Later, Soundwave would wake up squished between Whirl and the berth, tangled in blankets with long blue limbs protectively wrapped around him. He's warm, protected, and can vaguely detect Laserbeak recharging nearby - when he feels around with a datacable, as to not wake the other mech, he finds her at the head of the berth.

So he relaxes, withdrawing the datacable and snuggling back against Whirl.

He's out of the wall. He has to travel to go home, but first, a pit stop...
