I've been seeing you post about it, but I genuinely don't know what it is. What is the Walten Files? (Please give as much or as little detail as you like)
OKAY THANK YOU, GREAT START, I’D LOVE TO SPILL SOME DETAILS!
Warning: I’m gonna be spoiling this series (I’d recommend reading if you don’t want to watch scary stuff, but you still wanna know about it.)
I’LL TRY TO MAKE IT EASY TO DIGEST, THANK YOU!
CW: Alcoholism, car crashes, starvation, dismemberment, the like-
OKAY, so TWF is an analog horror series (meaning it’s in an old VHS style) about events surrounding a franchise called Bon’s Burgers, under two companies called “Bunny Smiles Incorporated” and “Cyberfun Tech”. The series is released with hints as to things that happened from 1960 to 1982, and string of incidents in 1974. The way it’s released is not chronological, but it’s very detailed with the timeline of events so to make things easyyyyyy-
Here’s the chronological timeline!
. Jack Walten and Felix Kranken, two business majors, come up with the idea of “Bon’s Burgers” and decide to dedicate a lot of time to this project, becoming the best of friends in the process.
. Jack and Rosemary Walten get married.
. Felix Kranken and Linda Thompson start a relationship, while Jack and Rose have children.
. Jack and Rosemary end up with three beautiful children! Sophie, Edd, then Molly, respectively. This family loves each other very much. Around this time, Felix either takes up drinking, or a small problem turns into outright alcoholism.
. Felix’s alcoholism gets from bad to worse. There are times where he stays at work specifically to drink, and his SO, Linda, isn’t a big fan of this. In fact, according to her, the week before, he’d said something hurtful, and with that in mind, she made the decision to leave him on May 2nd. He’d find out when he got home.
. Jack had asked Felix to do a favor for him that same day: taking two of his children, Edd and Molly, to and home from a school party by 9 PM. Felix (kinda reluctantly) said that he could do so, and so after work, he took the children to the party. At the school party, though, he drank, and left the place late.
. Felix, while driving the children home, never took them home. Instead, he crashed in a place called St. Juana’s forest. He survived relatively unharmed, but Edd and Molly died on impact. Felix, after screaming, worried about Jack seeing the children that way, and what he would tell him. So he opted to bury the children in the forest, recorded something for himself to reassure that it wasn’t all just some nightmare, and went home, likely to find out that Linda had left him.
. Jack called Felix over and over, begging him to tell him where Edd and Molly had gone. He called everyone for Felix, but he got no answer.
. There was more than a month between Edd and Molly’s deaths and Jack’s disappearance. Between those days, a photo was taken with Jack and Felix smiling and shaking hands, causing much confusion. Then Jack Walten went missing.
. Susan Woodings, a technician / the practical builder of the Bon’s Burgers animatronics noticed that the main attraction, Bon the rabbit, was acting stiff and odd (especially in his right arm). She went to check the Bon animatronic, but unfortunately, it grabbed and did (something?) to her. She was put into an animatronic called Banny, in which she would starve to death (or at least that’s implied.)
. Rosemary Walten, while searching for Jack, went to Bon’s every single day, but she never got a response. One day, though, she heard a voice coming from the back saying “I know where he is, Rosie.” She followed the voice, but she didn’t find her husband. She only found Bon, who then proceeded to dismember her alive. Dialogue suggests that the restaurant shut down that day due to the screams, and imagery suggests that someone either saw her die, or saw her get stuffed.
. A man named Charles apparently died, but we know nothing about this man. We only know he doesn’t remember his own visage.
. Years later, a young woman named Ashley Parks, and her friends, Kevin Woodings and Hillary B. are hired as technicians for this thing called “The Relocate Project.” Something apparently started by Felix Kranken, the only founder of Bon’s Burgers, in an attempt to reopen the restaurant.
Note: Everything from Bon’s Burgers and other merch is in a bunker called “K-9″.
. Ashley Parks is, you guessed it, killed and stuffed into a clown animatronic by Bon. Bon is seen in this section with a lot of holes in it’s body, noted as looking intentional, especially around it’s damaged eye sockets and caved-in chest area.
. A few years after this, in our most current year in the story, 1982, Brian Stells is hired to take care of the K-9 bunker! Yaaay! He’s doing pretty good, doing some maintenance on Bon and- oh how weird- Bon’s stiff and odd! Especially in his left arm. So, Bon starts moving on it’s own and-
. Well guess what happens to Brian? He’s killed. We don’t know what happens after that, but he’s murdered, and it’s said by him: “I can’t feel anything. He thought I was her.”
. So “her” is the final Walten! Sophie Walten, who doesn’t remember almost anything from her teenage years or childhood. She doesn’t remember anything about her parents, nor does she recall her siblings.
. Sophie Walten is playing a game called “Bunnyfarm” reccommended to her by her girlfriend, Jenny, right? And she’s having so much fun! Until the game starts bugging the fuck out, then telling her about her own traumatic past.
. It even shows her what happened to her siblings! And yet... It seems to be too much. When you check findjackwalten.com/sophiewalten, it seems like she doesn’t really remember much of what she saw. Still though, she wants to remember more, and Jenny promises to help her in that regard.
And that’s the plot of TWF SO FAR!
I hope this was interesting to those who didn’t know the plot, before. I hope it recontextualizes some of the stuff I’ve posted, too!

ok while we're on that subject do you think if BSI didn't shut down in '83 they would have just abandoned the relocate project altogether and decided to make "toy" versions of the characters like in fnaf 2. would the old robots somehow get into the restaurant. much to think about
hmmm. well the thing about this is there were either two attempted inductions of the Relocate Project, or, the Relocate Project was never actually cancelled/considered a failure. I thought it had been, but rewatching TWF 2 to confirm, what's actually said is that the reprogramming phase of the Relocate Project was considered a failure. And we know that the Relocate Project was either still ongoing or had been reintroduced because Brian mentions it by name in TWF 1, which is as late as October of 1982
So it's totally possible that while the reprogramming idea was canned, the actual Relocate Project is still ongoing, and the original Bon's Burgers animatronics are literally fnaf 2-style being kept around and harvested for parts. That might be why Brian was specifically asked to check what machinery was working, and seemed largely unconcerned with the dilapidated physical condition of the robots.
There's also the fact that the New Bon's Burger's location was, as of 1978, planned to open in 1982. And like that could've totally gone sideways, but i don't know why we would've been given that date specifically if it was completely unimportant. I think it's totally possible that the Relocate Project might actually succeed and a new restaurant may actually be opened. It's a small window for that to happen in, but it's not like we're unfamiliar with the idea of these locations only being open for a ridiculously short amount of time (The original Bon's Burger's location was open for less than a month lol)
#chirps#this is kiiinda wild speculation lol#and there's some holes in it i think. but teehee funny theory lol#ask

Like... COULD roosterteeth fix the Faunus subplot? Is the hole too deep? I’m trying to think of ways of patching this mess without significant retcons and I can’t really think of any good options
They could tbh, if they actually like, did some research on racial issues and tried to tell actual stories instead of their “all violence is bad” philosophy.
Step 1) show more of the racism. Show how bad it actually is. Stop having characters like Blake and Ilia and Marrow and Sun discuss how bad the racism is and actually fucking show it. Show us the cages full of people, show us the starving Faunus begging for food who can’t find a job and won’t be let into a restaurant. Show us the victims of lynchings Adam didn’t get to save. Show us perfectly capable Hunters being forced away from villages who would rather face Grimm alone than be helped by someone with claws. Show us the violent racists shouting slurs and hateful words at Blake- not just one drunk asshole or one snooty guardswoman, but the “nice” people too! RT built this entire subplot about violent, chronic racism but only ever give us the occasional glimpse of it. I can count on my fingers just how many racist things have happened in this show in 7 seasons.
2) either remove Blake as the vehicle for this subplot or give her a foil in another character. Blake is probably the most privileged Faunus we’ve met in the entirety of this show, and her whole “pacifism to the point of impotence” philosophy coupled with her “I’m willing to fight my own brothers in TWF to force my family’s brand of pacifism” is so fucking disgusting. Of course she’s oh so reluctant to take any meaningful stance against the violence aimed at her- she’s never actually experienced it! She knows she can hide her ears whenever she wants, her parents are practically royalty and never had to work in a Dust mine on the verge of collapse, the “crowded” continent she lives on parts crowds like the Red Sea for her mega-mansion. No one separated her from her family or hunted her for sport or used her for cheap labor. And the one time we actually see her react to racism aimed at her she fucking cowers and begs some drunk asshole to leave her alone instead of defending herself. Blake is a bad vehicle for this plot. The frustrating thing is that we had good vehicles for it. We had Sienna and Ilia and Adam (pre 3.11). We had people who were willing to do the dirty work and fight for their rights. But one was murdered, the other converted, and the last used as a vehicle for a completely different plot. We need a Faunus- or group of Faunus- willing to take up the mantle Sienna left behind. I’d personally prefer to see Sun become radicalized. He was so willing to demean TWF in season 1 back when he’d lived in Vacuo (the one place where racism apparently hardly exists) his whole life after living in Haven for less than a year. I would LOVE to see Sun actually experience some bad racism for a while and decide that someone needed to stand up for the Faunus who couldn’t stand up for themselves. It’d also provide absolutely amazing conflict between Sun and Blake and further their relationship, and possibly even their romance if RT decide to go down the Sunny-B route.
3) Make an actual villain in this racism subplot. Yes, in real life, there’s no one Head Racist that we could fight and defeat which would end racism. But that’s where fiction is made to entertain. The X-Men gave us Senator Kelly, Avatar gave us Firelord Ozai, Transformers gave us Megatron. We need an actual antagonist in this racism subplot. We need someone who’s leading the racist armies, converting moderate humans into angry racists, etc. Otherwise we won’t know who the enemy is or when we’re making progress. It looked like the main enemy would be Jacques Schnee up to season 4 when he just kinda laughed off the idea of racism and disguised it as classism and then got himself arrested this season. We need a target and a goal. Otherwise TWF just looks like a bunch of angry people attacking anything and anyone in sight.

https://sssn-neptune-vasilias.tumblr.com/post/620377137095049216/blakes-honestly-just-a-bad-mouthpiece-for-this
https://sssn-neptune-vasilias.tumblr.com/post/620375255340466176/blake-belladonna-as-shes-been-written-in-the
Remember when I said that RWBY tends to get bitched out by people for basically not adhering to their political views?
Well, who’d like to see some examples?
Blake’s honestly just a bad mouthpiece for this story. She’s a bad vehicle for this entire subplot. She wrapped up her ears for a whole year, knowing that she didn’t want to deal with the consequences of being a Faunus in a human academy. She didn’t want the dirty looks, or the racism, the anger, the resentment, so, like Ilia did initially, she hid. She hid and let Velvet and Sun be victims of racism, because arguing that someone else doesn’t deserve to be called dirty names was easier than arguing about herself. But Blake doesn’t get to come down from her ivory tower, and her giant mega-mansion on an island where “space is a commodity” and tell people who’ve been orphaned from Dust Mine collapses, who’ve had friends and families lynched by angry mobs, who’ve actually experienced the worst that racism has to offer, that their anger is wrong. She doesn’t get to use her privilege to silence those who don’t have any. And I refuse to listen to her for as long as she tries to. Someone who shucks and jives and apologizes to some drunk racist asshole spew his hate and lets a Schnee- another daughter of privilege- stand up for her, is someone who’s story I’ve heard too many times, who I’m too tired to listen to. Where’s my Sienna book, because as far as I’m concerned she’s the only one who ever actually stood for something
... So?
So what Blake hide her ears? No rational person wouldn’t try to hide something that they think would land them in serious trouble? Not to mention it has nothing to do with what Blake fights for (equality for her people.)
She never ‘let’ anyone be victims of racism. She was openly hostile to Cardin and went out of her way to humiliate him. She fought with Weiss because of her racism towards Sun. Nobody got away with it. Unless you mean ‘Blake should have physically assaulted these people’ in which case: that’s illegal for good reason, Cardin could just use it to get Blake in trouble, it would have REINFORCED Weiss’ racism and Velvet and Sun are their own people, who can decide to confront them or not. Just because you’re a violent idiot doesn’t make it right or smart.
And guess what? Not only did Blake never actually say their anger was wrong, their ACTIONS were. (You know, like mass destruction).
Not only does Blake NOT have more privilage than these people (her family being well off doesn’t matter here).
This was Martin Luther King Jr.’s birth home. ... Pretty fucking good, especially for his time huh?
You don’t refuse to listen to Blake because of ‘privilege’: You refuse to listen because you’re a violent idiot, thinking that ignoring some random drunk guy being racist is bad even though he’s fucking drunk and random, why the hell would Blake CARE about him? Reminder that Blake WAS NOT HAPPY that Weiss did that.
Blake was being the bigger person: something you, a real person, failed to be.
P.S. Funny you don’t mention Adam here. What’s wrong, did you figure out Sienna basically MADE Adam?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blake Belladonna, as she’s been written in the series so far, would see what’s going on in America right now, and would leave her gated community to perform a citizen’s arrest on some rioters who were looting an insured Target to show that “we need to hold each other accountable before we can expect the police to stop murdering us in the streets” and that’s exactly the problem with this show right now. The entire racism subplot of this show focuses so heavily on weeding out the “few bad apples” from the White Fang to ensure that it remains completely peaceful to the point of impotency, but refuses to show- let alone prosecute- the racism and racists that TWF were rallying against in the first place.
“Peaceful to the point of impotency-”
You know SSSN, I know you’re conflating “Peaceful” to “Impotent”. I don’t know why you think trying to avoid that is helping anything.
And yes, you should be doing that. You should’ve been rooting out the bad dapples in your fucking movement. Because otherwise you get shit like this, where people of all races are flipping the rioters the bird (including other black people) because they hate the violence and destruction. To say nothing of how white supremacist rhetoric was all but DEAD before this shit started years ago and is now rising up. Almost like being a violent jackass to everyone creates wounded people racist prey upon.
P.S. I guess Jacques Schnee doesn’t exist since apparent there’s no racism. Funny, I swore I could have remembered him being in about 80% of the last Volume.
RoosterTeeth has been targeted for a LOT of issues the past couple of weeks, and have come out and actively apologized for their tonedeafness and their inaction and their compliance. But if RT really wants me to believe that they’re trying to change- besides standing up for their black employees first and foremost- they NEED to take a closer look at this show and realize that the message they’ve been sending isn’t a good one. It’s the message of people who see any disruption of “peace” as more egregious than the racism that’s gotten more people killed than the rioting or looting ever could.
Yeah, I don’t know what happened there so I don’t care.
And that wasn’t the message. Disruptions of peace that didn’t involve harming the innocents was shown as good and progressive. It was the massive amount of violence that was shown to be the problem. It was made pretty fucking clear, they’re not masters of subtly here. You’re just violent.
I was willing to come on this journey while Blake was leaving the White Fang behind because she couldn’t agree with their methods.
Proof.
I was hurt when the show kept using TWF as base level grunts for nearly every major altercation that we’d seen up to season 3.
If I said “I’m hurt when they portrayed all the humans in this conflict as racists with no redeeming qualities”- Guess what you’re reaction would be? because I’m pretty sure it’d be what I’m thinking here.
I still hugely disagree with the “reveal” of Adam’s character, and I’m still extremely upset that they would choose to write someone like Adam as not only a high ranking lieutenant, but then the LEADER of the White Fang with nearly ZERO dissent from the rest of the group.
*points to the riots* Is it really that hard to believe?
Murdering Sienna Khan before she’d even gotten to explain her stance on violence was a godawful choice.
SHE DID.
Sienna: I was one of the first to suggest violence where violence was necessary. Peace bred complacency and acceptance of our place in the world. I will not allow humanity to push us down without pushing them back. But the destruction of the Huntsman Academies crosses a line! The loss of the CCT has brought global communication to a crawl! And the White Fang is more of a target now than ever before! You have justified humanity's campaign against us, and for what?! Empty promises from a group of humans? Humans we still know nothing about, and come and go as they please! These are not examples of strength, Adam. They are examples of your talents being diminished by shortsightedness!
Finding out just how privileged Blake actually is due to her family’s status was my final nail in the coffin for Blake’s roll as a mouthpiece in this story.
It’s almost like standing against racism has nothing to do with privilege, it has to do with making things better for other people and empathy.
Blake’s conversion of Ilia to her “peaceful to the point of impotence” stance on this issue despite Ilia’s very real and valid reasoning for being THROUGH with peaceful protesting was TIRING.
That being she thought there was no other way even though it doesn’t seem like it was active for very long.
Having characters like Marrow and Sun and Neon and Velvet and all the other Faunus we’ve seen thus far who aren’t a part of TWF be completely silent or dismissive of the issues they’re facing- as if they couldn’t give half a shit, as if it was all happening to other people so standing up for their community isn’t a top priority- is really getting tired.
Because it was. They're not a collective, they’re individual people with their own lives and shit to deal with.
And Sun wasn’t dismissive: he was hostile towards the White Fang. Probably because they were violent and cult-like.
We’ve had more “racism” aimed at Penny for being a robot than we’ve had aimed at all of our Faunus characters since this show started
Number of times penny has been discriminated: ... Uh... Zero.
It’s officialy: SSSN doesn’t watch the show.
And if RT really wants me to believe they’re trying to change, they need to look at these issues and decide where on the side of history they want their story to end up; because right now, it’s on the same side as the people who just wanted MLK to stop marching because he was “upsetting the peace.”
As opposed to you, who would call his movement ‘impotent’ and become a walking example for the KKK to use to make black people look like thugs?
This shit is why I hate you: you only defend Sienna because she’s the closest to your position, never realizing how close Sienna and Adam really were. Reminder that Adam became the way he was because SIENNA USED HIM to push her methods, YOUR methods, forward. Adam becoming a racial supremacist and radicalizing the orgnazation towards endless violence? That happened in the real world, with it becoming a belief that everything in US is racist, causing people to lash out, making the government stop them and using that as proof that the US is racist.
Instead of becoming better people, both the fictional White Fang and the real life movements became walking cesspools.
And before you try calling racism: One look through my blog shows I’m against the police in this issue and I recently tried talking down one of my friends who tried to imply white people have it worse. Face facts: you’re an entitled brat, thinking that reform should be immediate despite how unrealistic and dangerous that is and you think your media is owed to be on your side.
Grow the fuck up.

Tennis can be such an extraordinary vehicle for human and personal growth
youtube
In addition to providing a unique service, available in several languages, for all tennis fans all over the world, Tennis World wants to do more. A non-profit organization, the Tennis World Foundation, has recently been created, thanks to the collaboration and support of all our tennis websites. The TWF aims to bring tennis where only few people have the chance to play and - who knows - discover rising stars that may be play in the future in professional tennis
Tennis is a wonderful sport. Being able to love it is, however, a privilege not anyone can afford. We are in the heart of the 21st century but the world is still burdened by inequalities, poverty and injustice. Sport is an extraordinary way of bringing people together and can play a key role to help build a better world, but we need to have the courage to overcome the laziness created by wealth in today’s society. That is something not granted for those who have a roof above their heads, food and the chance to cultivate their own hobbies. Having the opportunity to do something big, together with the huge love for tennis, is what drives Tennis World Foundation, a non-profit organization with a wonderful goal, better than a Grand Slam title or a Davis Cup Trophy: give a tennis racket to those children who otherwise would not have a chance to play the sport we all love. Nowadays, there are still too many places where children are not even allowed the right to dream, but where all they can hope for is just to survive one more day. Several research projects have shown that poverty often leads to collateral damages including alcohol and drug abuse, risky sexual behaviors. This happens first and foremost because there is a complete lack of recreational and sports facilities. Children go to school but parents can afford them no more than that. In such a complicated environment, where the potential is however very high, Tennis World Foundation aims to play a key role, with the aim of taking tennis where children don’t stand a chance to even hold a racket, like primary school and orphanages. Tennis can be such an extraordinary vehicle for human and personal growth. Together with its partners, TWF is currently developing a programme that wants to support the growth and development of these little human beings.
Tennis particularly fits this process because it develops several qualities including education, leadership and social skills. Actually, tennis is more than a sport, it’s a tool to help them develop what they will need in their life: discipline, resilience and fairness. This is the primary goal of the TWF, as well as finding also emerging talents and giving them the chance to keep playing and - who knows - start a career in professional tennis. To sum up, the goals we hope to achieve are the following:
* Take tennis as an extracurricular activity to places where it never arrived
* Form high-level trainers and teachers
* Offer children an additional chance to develop useful skills for their everyday life
* Identify potential talents
TWF ideal partners should be collaborating with tennis institutions at different levels, from local to international, including also companies who cover commercial aspects. In addition to that, a collaboration with governmental organizations and media representatives would be desirable. This is a brave and innovative project, in which it is really important to believe. Several VIPs, including tennis players, have launched over these years commendable initiatives, starting their own foundation. However, in the majority of these cases, the purpose - noble as it is - is mainly connected to education. Tennis World Foundation, on the other hand, aims to put tennis at the heart of the project. Through our beloved sport, it is possible to raise better people, more involved in our society as well as contribute to the creation of a better world. And that is the only way to discover a new talent, a new story that may be told in a future, hopefully, not so distant.

Castiel the Demon Slayer
Pairing: Platonic TWF.
Prompt: Something with BAMF!Cas By a cutie pie nonnie.
Words: 1,607.
Warnings: Like there’s actually some fluff in this and then suddenly there isn’t. Demons. Almost dying.
A/N: I just kind of just went with my gut here for this extended drabble. Fic 3 for my followers celebration. Halfway through, are you proud of me?
Ao3 link if you prefer.
Hunting wasn’t always, as Dean put it, awesome. You loved killing bad guys but that didn’t mean it wasn’t a mess, like, ninety percent of the time. Too many hunts you’d come home stained in blood that wasn’t yours and had to scrub your skin raw. On more than one occasion you’ve been injured because, you know, everything is trying to kill you. And the worst part is when you don’t, or can’t, save everyone.
It’s really exhausting sometimes.
So, you have to make the most of the little things. You start getting way too attached to creature comforts like your favorite cereal because it’s a constant in your life that you can rely on. You splurge on shampoo fancier than Sam’s because you’re worth it. And you treasure every second you get to spend with the boys.
The best part is they’re giant softies. They once told you about a big ol’ teddy bear they’d dealt with as part of a wishing well case and to this day you kind of suspect they were talking metaphorically about themselves because they are the giant teddy bears.
Sam loves romantic comedies. He’ll never say the words, but he goddamn loves them. You’d discovered this completely by accident while you’d been thoroughly enjoying some mashed potatoes and he threw out a, “I’ll have what she’s having.” Now you were at the point where neither of you needed to discuss it. After a bad hunt, you’d find each other and watch something cheesy and ridiculous together just to let the obvious happy ending put huge, dumb smiles on your faces.
Dean is a bit of a foodie. He hides it behind eating too much pie and too many cheeseburgers. But he’s a total slut for the kind of fancy food that has a home on Instagram. Not that he understands Instagram. You’d been working in New York, well actually you were in New Jersey hunting werewolves but close enough. After the furries were taking care of you were exhausted but he’d wanted to drive through the city. You hadn’t questioned it because you both deserved whatever the hell you wanted after all the killing. The lights made the drive seem like a movie and you’d quickly fallen asleep against the window. Then you’re woken by Dean slamming the driver’s side door except now he’s got a bunch of takeout boxes filled with things like raclette, which you describe as cheesy heaven when you try it. Since then he always shares his new food discoveries with you.
But neither of those two compared with Cas. Cassie Cas Cas. The times you’d spent with Cas may have been limited to what you call ‘peacetime’ but that was how you liked it. You didn’t have some big story about discovering a secret little quirk of his because his quirks weren’t a secret. That honesty might be the cutest thing about him. And the fact that he’s so game for anything. Sometimes you could have real dire needs. Like watching videos of cats and dogs being friends and needing to hang out with some cuddly animals. Cas always understands. He goes with you to the animal shelter and helps you pretend you’re looking to adopt just so you can hug the shit out of as many dogs as you can. He seemed to enjoy it too, everyone wins.
Cas was the fluffiest cloud in the sky. Logically you know he’s this ancient, powerful being but at the same time, he once let you paint his nails the same colour as his eyes.
Or, at least, that was your opinion until today.
Today you’ve fucked up. It happens to the best of us, it just so happens that today it’s on you.
Dean and Sam aren’t back from their hunt yet, they’re on the way home and driving as fast as they can because they know you’re an idiot, but they’re still not here. Dean told you repeatedly to leave it alone, ordered you actually, but you’d told him it would be easy, and you never responded well to orders anyway.
It’s just a little demon to take care of. All the signs are there, and this black-eyed son of a bitch has already killed three people. You have an angel blade, it’ll be fine. You already stayed home on bed rest because you got cut up a week ago but now you’re fighting fit again and the last thing you want to see is this demon kill any more people.
But Dean, and Sam in the background, tell you to wait. Knowing that you won’t. You’re feeling pretty sure of yourself. It’s not like you’ve never snagged a demon before.
The problem is you’re so gagging to get back out there that you hadn’t noticed that two of the victims died in different locations at the same time, which already spells more than one douche. You'd stormed ahead anyway.
It’s how you end up tied to a chair with one of them balancing you over a tenth-floor balcony for fun. The only thing keeping you from a loony toons style death is the back two chair legs teetering dangerously near to the edge and the demons hand around your throat.
You’re pretty sure you’d be dead by now if Sam hadn’t called. His name flashing up on your phone was a blessing and a curse. Being associated with the Winchesters means they haven’t killed you immediately because they’ve decided to keep you as leverage. But it also means they’re playing with you. The big guy says he likes to hear your screams through the dirty material gagged in your mouth. Unbeknownst to him, you made a snappy comeback about hearing his screams soon enough but through the gag, it’s just a series of noises.
Unfortunately, you’re one slip of his hand away from becoming a human omelet when the door to the apartment flies off of its hinges. Literally flies. Not kicked in, the wood just propels forward like a bomb has gone off behind it. The demon holding you is so shocked that he lets you go and you’d swear that’s it. You can feel gravity clinging to you now that nothing is holding you in place. You chair spends a slow-motion moment wobbling like it’s not quite sure what to do with you.
Gravity wins. Wind is the only thing at your back and even the rancid material in your mouth can’t completely deafen the scream that’s ripped from your throat. You’re falling.
You’re meant to die saving someone. Not this bad action film death.
Then there’s a hand, it wraps into the material of your shirt and yanks you forward, to safety, and just like that, you’re not dying today. When you look up you’d never expect to see the face attached to the hand that saved you.
Cas. But not your fluff ball Cas.
This is someone you’ve never met. This is Castiel and he’s furious like he carries thunder in his chest. Every muscle of his body is tense but moves fluidly at the same time, as if he was created for this one purpose. To fight. The blue in his eyes is as dark as the night sky and there are these angry lines carved into his face that you’ve never seen, contorting him into a caricature of the angel you thought you knew.
You see all of this in a second because as soon as all four legs of your chair hit the floor he’s moving again. Slow and measured as if there’s no urgency in the world towards the first of the three demons. You’re not sure why they’re still here but at this point you wouldn’t be surprised if that is Cas too, forcing them to stay somehow.
Even from outside and looking through the glass double doors the sight is awe-inspiring. He clamps a hand over the demon’s head with such force that his meatsuit might have gone through the floor. Instead, the demon burns, smote in a flash of light that’s both stunning and terrifying. You have to squint so as not to be blinded by it.
All you can do is watch as Cas saves you and finishes the job in the time it takes you to remember how to breathe. One by one they’re all ended, not an ounce of mercy or remorse in his actions. Not that the black-eyed bastards deserved mercy it’s just, Cas is so… you’ve never seen him so…
He’s a fucking badass.
When he finally turns back to you, still standing amongst the husks of the demons he’s just slain, there’s a second where you worry that it’s your turn next. He’s still primed and ready to kill at a moment’s notice and he’s looking at you.
It's only as he takes steps towards you that he melts in front of your very eyes. You see the warrior get locked away moments before he reaches you and unties your limbs.
With your hands finally free you both remove the cloth from your mouth and wrap your arms around Cas in one motion. He hugs you back like he always has, firm and safe while you shake a little in his arms. He didn’t just save you from demons, but you’d been falling. He saved you from dying tonight.
“Cas, that was amazing. I mean I’ve never seen you- you’re…” And there’s nothing that quite sums it up like your previous thought, “buddy, you’re a badass.”
He cocks his head at you when you pull back, maybe it’s because of the wetness you’re trying to blink away, “seriously, thank you.”
His face is a shadow of the soldier that saved you but there’s still a threatening flash of it as he speaks. “Nobody hurts the people I love.”

My Top 10 Twelfth Doctor Stories
I’ve seen other people do this, so I decided to make my own Top 10 of Twelfth Doctor stories.
10. Flatline
I have a soft spot for stories in which the Doctor gets in a bit of a situation and putting him in a shrinking TARDIS was a hilarious plan. I have to admit, I wasn’t that fond of the episode when I first watched it, but to be quite honest, I love it a bit more with every rewatch. I think this really is one of those episodes that you have to watch a couple of times to really appreciate it. I’m also glad that the Boneless were picked up again in one of the comics because who doesn’t love a recurring monster? They were creepy, they were threatening and quite difficult to defeat - which the Doctor eventually did while giving an amazing speech. I think it was the first Twelfth Doctor speech that really struck me because of how fierce and powerful it was. And a cute bonus: Doctor Oswald. All of these things definitely put Flatline in my Top 10.
9. The Zygon Invasion / The Zygon Inversion
Another thing I love about Doctor Who? Kate Stewart! So it would be a shame not to include one of her stories in my Top 10. I have always preferred two-parters over single episodes because of that little heart attack causing “to be continued” thrill and these episodes do it quite brilliantly. The Zygons as monsters aren’t exactly my favourites, but they were really well used in this case. I really enjoyed the storyline and the many jokes that were put in the episodes (Why do you have a Union Jack parachute? - Camouflage. - Camouflage? - Yes, we’re in Britain.) There really are so many things I love about this two-parter: the Doctor’s emotional speech, Jenna marvellously playing two different characters, Kate tricking the Zygons, . . . The final product is a thrilling episode and wonderful entertainment.
8. Dark Water / Death in Heaven
The finale of S8 has to be on this list for one reason alone: Missy. Michelle Gomez really, really rocked that part and I will love her forever for it. I never really liked the Simm!Master because of various reasons (mainly cause his version of the Master collided with the version in a book I’ve read and loved). Yet the Twelfth Doctor and Missy really brought that “true friendship gone horribly wrong” part across. There was also the storyline of Clara losing Danny and later losing the Doctor by letting him go which I think shaped her S9 character to a large degree that I really, really love. The Cybermen were less creepy in this episode than in others (the S2 two-parter has scarred me forever), but this story wasn’t about the Cybermen or an invasion at all, at least it’s not how I see it. This two-parter is about loss and friendship. And it contains yet another Twelfth Doctor speech that I will love until the day I die. He’s my idiot with a box and a screwdriver.
7. Oxygen
I feel obligated to put at least one episode from S10 on my list and since this was the only one that really stirred something in me, here we go. I loved the space station setting (because I’m a sad sci-fi nerd), I loved the dystopian “oxygen on sale” bit, but you know what I loved the most? The Doctor going blind. Oh my God, how I loved the big reveal in the end when he said he still couldn’t see. The Doctor is a Time Lord surrounded by humans, he is always superior to them simply because of the fact that he’s (like he said to Clara in FtR) “less breakable”, but finally, we get to see that he is breakable after all, that he’s vulnerable, that he’s no longer the superior hero. I love that bit. Sadly, the episodes that followed didn’t really put this plot twist to use in my opinion.
6. Mummy on the Orient Express
Who wouldn’t want to go on a trip on the space Orient Express with the Twelfth Doctor? This episode was beautiful from start to finish: the setting, the costumes, the dialogues, the storyline, the tension between the Doctor and Clara. Every moment of this episode was wonderful and a pure joy to watch. It was also a big turning point in the relationship between the (new) Doctor and Clara because, for the first time, she saw him for who he really was. Now, a couple of weeks ago I bought Doctor Who - The Complete History and I read about the making of this episode and I have to admit that I probably would have loved the original script (in which the Mummy is a life-extending body suit that won’t let people die and Clara briefly gets turned into one) a little bit more because it contains more sci-fi elements than the version they ended up using. But hey, I’m not complaining. The episode is awesome.
5. Into The Dalek
“I see into your soul, Doctor. I see beauty. I see divinity. I see hated.” Just hearing these words in my head gives me goosebumps and I think that is a very good sign that this episode definitely belongs in my Top 10. A lot of things have been done with Daleks over the past 50+ years, but miniaturizing the Doctor and putting him inside one is definitely one of the more brilliant ideas. I also really love the early version of the Twelfth Doctor, I love my grumpy, old alien and he’s at his peak in this one. But he’s also still struggling to find out if he is a good man or not and I really enjoyed that conflict that we saw in Peter’s first season. Rusty the Dalek plays a big part in that conflict and their dialogue makes me shiver even after watching it about 30 times.
4. The Magician’s Apprentice / The Witch’s Familiar
The Doctor riding a tank into a medieval castle while playing the electric guitar! Do I need to say more? Yes, I’m definitely going to say more, but, oh my God, that was probably one of my favourite moments of the entire show. I sat in front of my telly, gawking at the screen. There will never be a season opened better than this. You won’t believe how much I enjoyed watching it the first time and how much I am still enjoying it every time I watch this episode. The rest of the two-parter is anything but a let-down. I loved the Twelfth Doctor/Missy interactions in this one because up until the end of the episodes you can really see the former friendship, you can see just how long they have known each other, how much they meant to each other back then (I live for this kind of thing). Also, bringing back Davros is always a nice touch. Bringing back Skaro was amazing (and seeing the fear in Missy’s eyes when she realized where she was). The Clara/Missy duo was amazing. The Doctor pleading for Clara’s life on his knees when he thinks he’s about to lose her. Honestly, there isn’t anything that I don’t love about this two-parter. Add “The Doctor’s Meditation” to this and you’ll get 10 minutes of pure, silly fun as well.
3. Listen
This episode was the one where I decided that Twelve was my Doctor. In fact, it was the pre-intro scenes with him that showed him sitting on the TARDIS roof and talking to himself by candlelight that got me. But that’s not why I loved the episode. It was properly creepy. I love the creepy episodes the most and sadly, there has been a bit of a lack in those in recent years, but Listen was definitely one of the best. I first watched the leaked black and white version and even then it gave me chills. This episode also showed how much of an impact Clara really had on the Doctor (apart from getting him to save Gallifrey and asking the Time Lords to help him). She saw him as a young, frightened boy and she put those thoughts in his head that would accompany him for the rest of his life. It was a wonderful, little twist. I also really enjoyed the fact that we never got to know what the monster actually was. I love that some people believe it’s a kid under a bedspread and some (like me, cause I’ve paused and seen a screenshot of what looked like Voldemort) think it was an actual monster. Whatever it was, I’m glad we never got the solution handed to us. That makes it even more interesting to me.
2. Under the Lake / Before the Flood
I don’t think I’ve said it enough, but this two-parter is actually perfect. Everything about it is perfect. The Doctor and Clara are at their peak, they’re having their “glory years”. It’s very likely that there was a large time span between TMA/TWF and this two-parter because we see them in full action, we see them incredibly bonded, we see them trust each other completely. This is the first time we see how intense their relationship actually is (“If you love me in any way, you’ll come back”, “I’m changing history to save Clara.”). They are the perfect TARDIS duo in this one, but we also get a sense of foreshadowing as to what is going to happen to Clara in the future. The minor characters in this story are all perfect as well, I can’t say a single bad word about them. I normally don’t care about minor characters because I’ve learned that many of them end up dead anyway, but in this one, I can’t help but feel for them as well. As for the storyline and plot twist, it was a two-parter full of exciting moments and surprises with a lot of laughs and emotions thrown in as well. And the Fisher King was a great monster. Perfect television entertainment for a Saturday night that almost ended up being Nr 1 on my list.
1. Heaven Sent / Hell Bent
Heaven Sent is, in my opinion, Steven Moffat’s masterpiece and always will be. It felt like he was working his way up from The Eleventh Hour to culminate in the S9 finale with two episodes that actually managed to blow my mind. I am very critical when I’m watching TV and I’m not so easily impressed, but Heaven Sent actually blew my mind. Heaven Sent, an episode that is longer than usual, that features only one actor in only a handful of rooms and it’s the best damn thing I have ever seen on TV. During S10 I often complained about seeing the “plot twist” coming, but this one took me completely by surprise and broke my heart in the process. Oh, the tears I’ve shed over Heaven Sent! It’s that moment the Doctor realizes what he’s doing, what he’s been doing and for how long that always breaks me and it’s underlined by the most perfect Murray Gold score I’ve ever heard. And of course the big reveal that Gallifrey was waiting on the other end.
I think Heaven Sent / Hell Bent are the perfect depiction of the stages of grief in the Doctor’s 4.5 billion years quest to save Clara. And oh, how he did it! It’s not a secret that Clara has been my favourite companion from the moment she appeared on screen and after watching her become more and more like the Doctor over the course of the seasons, it was such a satisfaction to see her get her own TARDIS and run away. There is something so bitter-sweet, so emotional about this series finale and at the same time, it’s so full of twists and turns and surprises. It’s devastating and uplifting at once. In one word: perfect!

Exactly! The thing about FNaF was that the plot was a) really convoluted and hidden behind a lot of paywalls so you never knew what was going on, and b) was set in the past so there wasn’t much to actually be invested in as a narrative other than getting answers (which I don’t think we ever got?)
The Walten Files has a similar vibe and has that creepy Chuck E Cheese factor but you’re actually able to be invested in the plot and it isn’t hidden behind 50 paywalls! I’m genuinely worried about what happens to Sophie! I didn’t really care about what happened to the kids in FNaF because we already knew they would be dead!
This is why I don’t like it when people call it a FNaF ripoff - if FNaF were made tomorrow people would call it a TWF ripoff because it’s honestly lower in quality (aside from the gameplay)
Anyway I was a FNaF fan when I was 12 and this series has been great to turn to for that vibe but much better in story and quality
Damn, FNAF but it's a multimedia series that makes sense and has a story that actually builds to something? sign me up.

https://churchofthecreamygoddess.tumblr.com/post/165753460727/on-how-racism-is-portrayed-in-rwby
I’m just going to assume op isn’t going to respond and I’m not going to ask for one, so I’m not going to address them directly. Don’t take this as me going behind their back, because that’s not my intention, my intention is simply to address this in a broad way while not trying to pick a fight with someone that is trying to get away from rwde.
That being said, this isn’t an uncommon argument. However, this is the argument of someone who is biased on the side of rt and mkg.
First, the unusual assumption, that volumes 1-3 are from Ruby’s pov when in reality, it’s from a third person perspective, as this is supposed to be focused on the ensemble cast. Even if it was from Ruby’s pov, it’s not done well because we get outside scenes that Ruby would not be privy to. The Jaune arc comes to mind here as well as his focus on V2 and the Blake/Yang discussion, also in V2.
Next, talking about how racism is portrayed vs how it’s talked about and how our characters interact with it. The worst offender is Cardin picking on Velvet, because the characters do nothing but talk about how it’s bad and a shame and Cardin is terrible, while sitting there and doing nothing about it. It’s not like this scene happened quickly, there was a good few moments where someone could have stood up and shouted. And if it was supposed to be just a split second, they could have gone after Velvet and talked to her, comforted her or something.
And you can’t use the excuse of them being afraid of confrontation, because they’re all warriors and even if some are timid, we more than see them stand up to Cardin in later episodes or they blatantly revel in fighting. Weiss is the only exception, because we find out later she’s a huge racist anyway.
And coming to Weiss, op is right in that she moves past it. Except that she moves past it too well. There’s no struggle, no reality. Hell, there’s no apology! Its just never spoken of again.
Ask any recovering racist and they’ll tell you it’s not easy. Hell, I grew up in a “the south will rise again” household and my mom and I both still struggle with casual racism. It’s hard, HARD, to just not slip up when your childhood has been steeped in racism. That mindset is diffused into you for years. Maybe forever.
I will allow only a little leeway here because I truly believe that Weiss is a special kind of stubborn in that she has ‘decided she won’t be racist’ and just…. Does it. Does that thing. As though she can will herself to not be. As though she can study it and just force herself to not say this thing or that. However, that still doesn’t excuse the fact that we never get an on-screen resolution to her racism.
Volume 4…. I hate it. Only Weiss’s arc was complete, everyone else was stupid. I can get into more detail later, but this is already getting too long.
Finally, onto the portrayal of TWF. Don’t mistake complaints of mishandling with woobifying a terrorist group. Twf has turned into this fake woke bullshit of ‘oh this just proves the oppressed can become the oppressors’ while ignoring the real life context in which groups like this begin and exist. Yeah, terrorist groups are bad, no one is saying they aren’t, but the fact that the terrorist organization is wide spread and a minority race in your fictional universe is bad and the ‘we gotta take it back’ is incredibly naive and feeds into the narrative going on with BLM groups and the New Black Panther Party (and the old Black Panther Party, for that matter). More articulate people than me have wrote beautiful essays on why TWF is a bad thing as a concept and a villain group. If you can still misunderstand the difference between disliking a writing concept and apologizing for a terrorist organization, the problem is with you, not the people you speak out against.
#the white fang problem#i should tag this as rwde#because it is#but i don't want to seem like i'm attacking op#because i'm really attacking the whole concept#this is just the post that kinda got me to this point#so that's why i'm responding to op's points

Just cause they're partners doesn't mean they're going to be automatically be the romantic pair or is whit* ros* going to be romantic too? They said why they partnered them up in the commentary. The mansion thing was in a DVD extra & yes it was in the commentary & her not liking him classic korra/Sami where what happened later o ya? wb has a similar sl. Win/gs was played after their make up scene after 2 episodes dedicated to their relationship problems so of course it's going to do with them.
And arry/n did say wb still have those issues they need to address so which are about twf & her being the heires/s. not everything is about bb.
Being partners doesn’t mean they’re automatically going to be in love, but if the “storyline partners” are going to be Ruby/Yang and Blake/Weiss, why bother making the team partners different? Why not just start straight off with the “storyline partners” so you can develop those relationships, the ones that would matter more and affect the overall story, as much as you can before the fall forces them apart?
I don’t see the point of spending so much time with Blake and Yang’s relationship if they’re just going to completely drop it after the fall.
They didn’t explain why they paired up the partners the way they did on the commentary. What they said was that the partner pairs in RWBY ended up being a pair of opposites who clashed because of their differences, and a pair of opposites who got along really well because of their differences. That’s not the same as “We made Ruby and Weiss partners for these reasons, and Blake and Yang are partners for those reasons.”
I don’t have time to go hunting through the extras for this mansion thing, especially when I don’t understand what you’re trying to prove with it.
Weiss not liking Sun has nothing to do with Blake though. She was ready to accept Blake back because Blake was her friend and teammate before Weiss found out she was a faunus, and she decided Blake being a faunus didn’t change that. On the other hand, Weiss only knows Sun as a stowaway, so a lowkey criminal, and that’s why she still doesn’t know how to feel about him even once she decided the faunus thing doesn’t matter.
I never watched LoK, but I’m pretty sure Korra started off not liking Asami, so if you’re going to draw comparisons using that, doesn’t Weiss not liking Sun mean it’s going to end with Weiss and Sun?
I already made my case about Wings, and I’m not budging on that. I’m not trying to change your mind on that, but what you’re saying isn’t making me change my mind either.
Wings also isn’t a makeup song. There’s nothing in it about the singer being sorry or anything, so it doesn’t really apply to that specific situation.
Blake and Weiss can address those issues without a romance between them though. They can do it as friends and teammates.
If you want to get technical, Blake and Yang could also resolve their issues without a romance, but the decision to parallel Yang with Blake’s ex and the emphasis their relationship got starting in volume 2 make me believe there’s a much higher chance of a romance between them.
Not everything has to be about Blake and Yang, but what you’re proposing is that Blake and Yang’s relationship doesn’t matter at all, and that doesn’t make sense either. The scene with Blake, Yang, and Adam was one of the biggest things that’s happened with Blake and Yang so far, and it’s silly to assume that’s going to be the end of their involvement with each other and Yang is going to go off with Ruby to deal with Salem stuff while Blake and Weiss deal with “dust/faunus” stuff.

Yeah, Sure.
https://criticalrwbysideblog.tumblr.com/post/165774136389/httpschurchofthecreamygoddesstumblrcompost16
Too bad I’m not convinced.
Yeah...I might believe if your next words wasn’t:
That being said, this isn’t an uncommon argument. However, this is the argument of someone who is biased on the side of rt and mkg.
Which tells me you don’t want to risk being seen by anyone who would disagree with you.
While the general idea is correct: Mind you that the series is focused on Ruby in particular so they couldn’t go into more detail at the time since the show needed to establish the main plot first and foremost.
What can they do? Cardin is clearly stubborn and obnoxious so why would anything short of physical retaliation work? And no, physical retaliation is NOT an option: it would get THEM in trouble and allow Cardin to play the victim. Bullies do it all teh time.
And even so: They had their own problems to deal with since Jaune was defending his bully and they couldn’t make him see what the problem is. “I can’t fight your war until I’m finished with mine.”
And even so there: They DID call him out in Oobleck’s class in the NEXT EPISODE (https://youtu.be/M_Loqu0jo7k?t=2m7s).
And you can’t use the excuse of them being afraid of confrontation, because they’re all warriors and even if some are timid, we more than see them stand up to Cardin in later episodes or they blatantly revel in fighting. Weiss is the only exception, because we find out later she’s a huge racist anyway.
And look how he conveniently overlooks the option of :They’ll get in trouble if they attack someone” IE the thing kids get in trouble with in EVERY SCHOOL.
And coming to Weiss, op is right in that she moves past it. Except that she moves past it too well. There’s no struggle, no reality. Hell, there’s no apology! Its just never spoken of again.
There is no apology...because A.) Blake wasn’t any better because she was judging Weiss for being a Schnee instead of who she is and B.) Weiss made it clear she didn’t care (https://youtu.be/3b1gs8KrM-M?t=10m46s)
Except that her life WASN’T steeped in racism: Her father is never shown being outright racist towards Fanaus and Blake shows that there are Fanaus outside of the White Fang, which was her ACTUAL issue.
PS: “The South Shall Rise Again” is not racist: It’s just talking about the Confederacy and diluting that into just racism ignores all the issues and problems the North and South have had in their past. So unless you were also raised to think that Black people are inferior or whatever: That’s not proof or an example.
I will allow only a little leeway here because I truly believe that Weiss is a special kind of stubborn in that she has ‘decided she won’t be racist’ and just…. Does it. Does that thing. As though she can will herself to not be. As though she can study it and just force herself to not say this thing or that. However, that still doesn’t excuse the fact that we never get an on-screen resolution to her racism.
https://youtu.be/3b1gs8KrM-M?t=10m46s
“never get to see an on-screen resolution of her racism.”
Volume 4…. I hate it. Only Weiss’s arc was complete, everyone else was stupid. I can get into more detail later, but this is already getting too long.
Maybe because RWBY is a serial story with long running character arcs. Not like RT doesn’t do that already *cough* RED VS. BLUE *cough*
A. BLM and the New Black Panther Party ARE like that: They incite violence and cause fear and terror to get what they want. It’s at the point taht ACTUAL members of the CRM AND Black Pathers have outright said they can’t agree or condone their actions (http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-new-black-panthers-20160714-snap-story.html / https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/08/24/i-was-a-civil-rights-activist-in-the-1960s-but-its-hard-for-me-to-get-behind-black-lives-matter/)
B. The show doesn’t say FANAUS are bad: In fact, the show outright says the White Fang were originally the good guys. It just says the White Fang NOW is bad: There are Fanaus outside of the White Fang who disagree with them.
B1. Assuming all Fanaus are members of the WHite Fang is exactly what WEISS did. Congrats: You’re now a racist on par with how she was.
C. The narrative...Sure, just a narrative. All those reported incidents with BLM breaking laws and causing riots: Yeah, just a narrative. Can’t possibly be your trying too push YOUR narrative.
D. Mind giving a link to these “beautiful essays”? No? Then I’m gonna assume they either don’t exist or you’re over blowing them to push your narrative of “uwu oppressed people can do no wrong.”
So whose at fault? The person who goes in depth or the person who ignores facts and tries calling bias because it doesn’t agree with them?

Entry 8 - Progression and changes
Last time we had just escaped the city for now and were hiding out in one of ninja-sans safehouses until we were all set to go to the next city as part of our ongoing mission to prevent a coup. We had spent this time buying new equipment, training new skills aka levelling up stuff.
Session 8, part one, the level up
I (Jaune) gained my next level in ninja and had gotten my hands on various supplies such as various alchemical weapons, a few potions, and plenty of new clothes for disguise purposes. For more magical equipment I finally got my hands on a ring of protection and an amulet of natural armour to bump up my AC, a masterwork kusarigama for twf/reach, a belt of dex and headband of Cha for stats and a sleeve of many garments for more outfit choices. My most important item was the circlet of persuasion, which combined with my level seven feat of deceptive meant that my face skills went through the roof.
Occelot had gotten his hands on an endless bandoleer and a beneficial bandoleer covering most of his gun needs. He also got his hands on a revolver and rifle (home ruled advanced firearms with only one range increment touch AC) meaning he could finally fire multiple times a round without reloading and have some ranged options respectively. Aside from these he got a hand of the mage (in another game this item ended up breaking the game slightly so he really wanted it) a set of boots of leaping a striding (making his jump in the 20’s) and ammunition. As for his level seven feat he chose far shot, meaning he could shoot at ridiculous ranges with his rife and still get pluses on his rolls.
Draspher had initially really wanted to get craft wondrous items, but upon reflection he found that the list of items he could make was really limited as a sorcerer, so he instead went for lifeless gaze, both for the boosts and in character the horrors he had both seen and been blamed for had taken their toll on him. He went for a ioun torch, the travellers any-tool, a ring of spell knowledge (to get unseen servant), bracers of Armor +1, a hat of disguise (to hide the mad bombers face), a ring of sustenance, a headband of Cha and a handy haversack. As for spells, he finally got his hands on some fire spells in fireball and burning hands with summon swarm for more harassing spells. He also still has most of his cash to the DM’s annoyance.
Yurion retroactively got the noble scion feat giving her Cha to initiative. She also got a few pieces of equipment, most notably a ring of revelation, giving her, the brain drain ability for interrogation, and the lore keeper ability from oracle level up giving her Cha to knowledge checks.
Sim got a few items. She followed my lead with a set of boots of the cat, a belt of str and a headband of wis to boost her stats up, a handy haversack for storage and a cloak of elvenkind to help her stealth score. Most of her focus went to her new feat, brew potions. She spent most of her free time making cure potions and any other ones we requested (for the cost of making of course).
Part two, the setup
One morning about a week after we had arrived ninja-san approached us at the breakfast table. He was in the awkward where he had been asked for help but all his own operatives were too busy to do it themselves. The fact that he was approaching us, as I pointed out, despite our track record was a sign of how desperate he was. A short trip from the safehouse was a mountain with a nature preserve protected by a few druid sects. The problem is that the druids had seen the signs of poachers but despite their best efforts they had not been able to locate them, nor how they had been getting in and out. Ninja-san wanted us to go in and try to sort the problem out. We would also not be going in alone
A new Player has entered the game!
Draspher IRL had gotten a new girlfriend. She is a nice girl, a bit anxious but with a perverted sense of humour. Needless to say, we all immediately took a shine to her. Our DM had a few sheets prepared (so that we could just pick one and jump straight back in if he did kill us) so she chose one she liked and got stuck in. Introducing, for your reading pleasure, Vex Shinesword, Half-Orc Paladin/Samurai. The DM made this character initially as the samurai class, but after deciding that its class features sucked so badly he just made him a paladin with samurai armour, and a katana and wakizashi for twf. She is also notable for being the only party member aside from Draspher who likes fumbles the raccoon. IRL I got Draspher a raccoon plush and he has enjoyed taking this with him to the sessions. This time it spent the entire session alternating between sitting on Draspher head and being cuddled/petted by Vex. She also has a perverted sense of humour. Although she is but a Padawan in comparison to my mastery of the perverse side, we played off each other well (to the horror/irritation of the rest of the table).
Part three, steam boat Ocelot
After re-acquainting ourselves with our old guildmate, we get to logistics. We decide that, as we will be mostly dealing with nature and druids, Sim should be in charge for this mission. We find that the best way to the mountain is to take the boat upstream directly to a lake at the base of the mountain. (Truth is I don’t think this lake or river was originally supposed to exist. When the DM drew the mountain Draspher started pointing out that the way he had drawn it there should be a lake there. I think the DM just added it then ad-libbed it into the story). As we are riding along we quickly spot dark shapes in the water. We ask the captain and it turns out there have been sahaguin (water lizard/frog people) attacks recently, but we should be fine. Don’t start killing them unless something happens. Ocelot spends this entire trip staring down the sights of his new rifle. At one point an eye looks out above the water, so he takes a pot shot. Unfortunately, one passenger was on the poopdeck, by which I mean two planks of wood off the edge of the boat with a gab in between and a guard rail enabling them to “relive themselves” directly into the water. This guy was not expecting the gunshot, and falls straight between the gap into the sahaguin infested waters. Sim and Draspher try throwing a rope to him, but flub there rolls. Just then a dark shape comes up under the water, grabs him and they both disappear.
Occelot, immediately upon seeing this holsters’ his rifle, pulls out his dagger pistol and uses his insane jump score to dive in after him, downing a potion of water breathing he got off sim. Vex uses her +1 enchanted +5 compound longbow to fire upon the creatures in the water and hits one. I decide to run over to the captain to let him know what’s happening, (since, as I jokingly put it, what kind of idiot would jump in the water to fight opponents that have such huge advantages over them in such conditions) and he stops the boat and engages the man overboard protocols. Yurion decided it’s not worth bothering over and never looks up from her book the entire time and Sim starts planning.
Upon jumping into the water Ocelot is confronted by two regular sahaguin’s, one with an arrow through his shoulder and one diving down lower with the poor guy heading towards the bottom. The two healthy ones engage Ocelot while the shot one decided to go after the annoying people on the boat, jumping up onto the deck. Draspher successfully summons a dolphin which charges past the first two sahaguin, going after the one with the one with the captive and successfully knocks him out of his grasp. Sim seizing her opportunity, jumps off the boat and transforms mid fall into a giant squid, then uses it jet ability to charge 100’ straight at the poor sap, grabbing him in her tentacles before just managing to stop herself hitting the riverbed. Seeing this, the first two sahaguin break off their planned attack on the one in the water and go after the squid stealing their captive. Luckily Draspher still has spells and uses one to summon a smaller squid to occupy them. Ocelot meanwhile has just had a great idea, and positions himself for next turn.
Meanwhile the first sahaguin is eying up the weak and squishy crew when he hears a voice shouting at him “hey you stupid calamari, why don’t you try picking on someone who can fight back”. Turning to face the ninja running towards him, he fails to notice the large samurai half orc come up behind him before his head is removed from his shoulders in what you could call a single ‘critical’ blow. As his head hits the floor, the last thing it hears is the ninja saying “well I didn’t necessarily say that meant me”.
Thing do not look good for the captive though. It was shocking enough when he was dragged under, being punched out of the sahaguin grip by a dolphin didn’t help and then being grabbed and dragged by a giant squid was the last straw before he lost consciousness and began to drown, so the heroes are going to have to act quickly. Realising Ocelots plan, Sim angles herself before launching full force at him. Thanks to a slight miscalculation though, rather than passing by him, grabbing him and leaping clear of the water, she instead slams into his stomach before launching him and herself out of the water. Ocelot, pulling back his composure, lands gracefully on the floor in a daring pose. Behind him, the unconscious man falls with a thud, followed by a giant squid with a splat. We all gather round and all utterly fail at CPR. Taking matters into her own ‘hands’, sim slithers over and uses her tentacles to perform chest palpebrations and brings him round. Upon one look at his rescuers oversized squid pupil he immediately faints, but he is alive.
The trip back is relatively quiet after that, except for Yurion deciding she wants to dissect the sahaguin for any information she can gather about it (none) and Jaune standing alongside with a bucket, picking out any good-looking parts to cook afterwards. Ocelot realises his powder and ammo is wet, and so Draspher offers to dry him with magic. Vex turns to ask her old friend Draspher a question, but sees him rubbing his hands all over Ocelots body, and decides to ask later. A little while later, Ocelot realises he should check his guns, make sure nothing got water damaged and Draspher offers to magically repair them. Vex goes looking for Draspher, deciding that he must have had enough time to finish whatever he was doing before. She now finds Draspher rubbing his hands up and down Ocelots ‘shaft’, and turns away.
Part four, the wooden bar in the wood
We finally make it to a small town at the base of the mountain next to the lake. We decide the best place to start is the inn. We go in and find the place mostly empty. It has an unusual style, the bar is a tree chopped in halve vertically, and the only person in there is a barmaid with a spring of mistletoe in here hair. I had previously mentioned to sim that we should try to keep on the down low and find out as much as we can about the druids without letting anyone know we were here about the poachers. Ocelot immediately announces we need to meet the druids since we are here to stop the poachers. (OOC he apparently is just enjoying being the one to get us in trouble this time round rather that Draspher, I have decided to go for him in his sleep one day). This actually works out for us, turns out the barmaid is a low-ranking druid in one of the local groups, and she recognises that we must be the guild they requested help from. She doesn’t know all that much, just what we had heard before, but also that some of the druids were setting up to look after nests near the top of the mountain.
She can contact one of the other members to escort us up there though, so we wait around for a few hours. Draspher keeps pestering the barmaid about whether she has any cups or other items to mend (he wants to feel useful, failing to realise that as a druid she can do it herself) until I walk over, take a wooden mug and smash it on the floor, telling him he can repair that. Ocelot get bored and: Ocelot – I shoot the eagle DM - …….. Ocelot – ok, not really DM – the eagle flies down and lands, shapeshifting into a woman Jaune – oh, hahaha, you nearly shot the druid Turns out that it would have been a terrible idea, since the eagle lands and turns into the druid, also the barmaid’s sister. With that crisis barely averted, we set off up the mountain.
Part five, mountain scaling encounters
As we begin the trek Ocelot has an idea. Sim has now gained the ability to turn into large creatures, so she turns into a giant vulture to scout above us. The DM turns down his plan of ferrying us two by two up the mountain as the transformation wouldn’t last that long and splitting the party like that is a bad idea. Instead, he uses rope to tie himself to the back of Sim while he carries his revolver so he can shoot freely from his back. This works for the most part except for one thing. We are all traveling up a mountain so high that the top is constantly covered in snow and blizzards. We haven’t gotten that high yet, but the two of them are traveling much, much higher so Ocelot starts getting dex penalty’s for not having warm enough clothes. Luckily, he had a dex boosting potion that sim gave him, so he chugged that to compensate.
We end up approaching a small cliff in a sparse woodland area, with the only way forward being a small valley that leads to the higher area, only about 20-30’ long. As we come out of the bottle neck, two arrows smack into me and the druid who were at the front of the party. Luckily Sim had spotted six figures in the tree above us and made to attack (Ocelot failed his roll, mostly distracted by how cold he was starting to get), three to the right, two to the left and one right at the back. Combat had begun.
I turned invisible and went to ambush the nearby archers on the right I could see while Vex decided to shoot back after dropping a lay on hands on the wounded druid. The first archer is very satisfied with his shot, up until a giant vulture and drops on him, tearing out a huge chunk of flesh before getting grazed by the bullets of the top hat wearing guy on his back. Just as Sims cheetah moves up to join in Yurian drops an obscuring mist on their position helping stop further arrows from coming in.
By this point, the other two on the right gather their wits and start shooting at the massive bird, so Sim starts to take a beating, but she kept on ripping into the guy while Ocelot just keeps firing at them. Draspher meanwhile has some trouble deciding the right thing to do. After both my own and the DM’s reassurance that starting a wildfire up here is virtually impossible (IRL I start playing psychotic jiminy cricket to him, telling him “this entire game you have been ridiculed and had the crud kicked out of you, its time you started kicking back”) he strides out of the mist, takes careful aim at the bandit at the back and proceeds to blow him to hell with his newly acquired fireball spell. He is both horrified at what he is becoming and astounded at how big a blast he pulled off. I just carry on the jimmy cricket part, “Pinocchio, you want to save your friends and family don’t you? The only way is to burn the whole world down”. He survives but the tree he was in sure didn’t, and getting blown away by a fireball into a 10’ drop certainly makes an impression. As the second bandit on the right turns to see this massive explosion, he gets one of his own in the form of a flask of alchemist fire to the face, curtesy of the already disappearing ninja.
Vex also decides now is the time for action. She charges at one of the trees to the left and in a single, you could say critical, blow she rends the tree and the bandit has to leap to safety from his now falling cover before facing the samurai. It’s at this point the DM realises what he’s done. When the DM made this samurai, he wanted to give him some damage output in combat, so he decided to, against my own advice when we were talking about it, give her a +1 keen katana and a +1 wakizashi for duel wielding. He failed to realise the effect giving someone a 15-20 critical range, especially a strength based fighter, would have on combat prowess and damage output. This is made even clearer when her next blow on the bandit is a non-confirmed critical. Every attack roll she has made so far with this sword has been a crit, and it doesn’t look like it will be ending any time soon.
Part six, you have got to be kidding me
The DM starts asking for perception rolls. Sim and I are the only ones who get high enough, and so he passes us both a note with only one sentence written on it. “You hear a loud rumbling in the distance”. Turns out that he had rolled survival rolls for both Sim and Ocelot but both had failed to realise any loud noise could set off an avalanche, and the combination of gunshots and fireball explosions had been enough to do it. Sure enough, over the last few turns, a few of the bandits start breaking off and just legging it along the mountainside. I shout out “run for it avalanche”, and make to follow them. Only a wisdom roll tells me that I won’t make it, and the bandits won’t either. Our best bet is to get to the bottom of the cliff, let the initial part of the avalanche flow over the top of us thanks to the lip, then try and dig our way out afterwards.
I shout this to the others. Yurian takes the druid down the valley and starts planning. Myself, Draspher and Vex quickly follow. Ocelot cut himself loose of the ropes, and leaps for the very damaged bandit we had been attacking previously. He tells him that if he comes with them he will live, hoping to use him for interrogation purposes. He and his new friend also follow us down the valley to the cliff. Ocelot, Draspher and myself all pull out equipment and latch ourselves to the cliff. Yurian pulls off her own plan, to levitate the druid, sit on top of her then use the extra Hight to get grabbed by Sim and flown over the avalanche.
Days on mountain – 5 Disasters blamed on Draspher – 1, DM gave some lip service about how it was Ocelots rapid gunfire that did it, but we all know who still has blame on his plate Incidents caused by Ocelot – 3.25, he got a guy dragged overboard, he blurted out our plans immediately to the first person he met (.75, malicious intent but it worked out), nearly shot down our guide (.5, malicious intent but didn’t go through with it) and helped start the avalanche
