Holy shit, today was wild.

So after our previous general manager left, O came in as a temporary replacement. I’m not sure if he’s staying on as permanent at this point or what; idk if anyone knows. For some reason, not all of his managerial privileges (idk if that’s the right word) are working in the system. So like he can’t make schedules and whatever other stuff it is that managers do (I’m just a cashier I have no clue). S, the highest up assistant manager (idk if that’s actually a thing but there’s always been one at our store), decides to do O a favor and make the schedules until things get sorted out. O’s been here around two months, with S still doing the schedule and other duties that O should be doing all the while—with O being paid the general manager’s wages and S getting paid his regular wages—and like at this point idk if O just has decided he’s fine with having S do the heavy lifting or if our company is just having some wild issue that can’t get this system error with his account fixed.

Our last person who worked print on weekends left, leaving us scrambling on the weekends. Finally, we get a new guy who’s gonna take the weekends. Store opens, and the guy doesn’t show up (apparently he misremembered/misread his schedule and ended up coming in an hour or two late). So I’m at the register, assistant manager K is at shipping, and S is at print. All S and K know how to do with print is give people stuff they’ve already ordered, and I know jack and shit about print so I’m staying over in my corner. A woman comes in, and she got her order yesterday, but it’s the wrong size. She’s upset and is on a deadline and needs the right size ASAP. S says he can give her a refund and transfer her order to a nearby store, and we’re all apologizing coz yeah that’s definitely a rough situation.

Idk exactly what happens next, but more customers start coming in and going towards print after a while, with that first woman still there. S is getting overwhelmed, so he calls O and asks for his advice. O tells him that this is all his fault, and that it’s his responsibility to make the schedules and make sure that there is someone at every station. So S just leaves the print station, tells us he’s done for the day, and goes into the manager’s office (which is basically his office at this point because—as we’ve established—he’s doing everything O should be doing), leaving K and I kinda freaking out as we try to figure out what to do. At one point K even goes into the office and starts arguing and yelling at S (K’s super chill and I’ve never heard him yell before).

Eventually S cools off. Between O and that first customer (who I heard another customer refer to as “the devil” on her way out when talking to her husband), he just couldn’t put up with all that shit. S is a very calm and nice guy. When I found out there’d been an error on my part that meant I’d been getting paid for my lunch breaks for a YEAR (this was between the previous GM leaving and O arriving), S told me that it was okay because I’m worth it and now I know what happened I can make sure it won’t happen again.

I’m good friends with another assistant manager, and she received a text from O that we think was meant for S saying that he’s a leader and needs to learn to take responsibility and own up and whatnot. To top it all off, my friend also shows me a text O sent in the manager group chat:

S is still working here, but any GM duties are now O’s problem. He’s done with doing him favors.

What is Hipolink

Hipolink is a service similar to linktree, but with in-built shop for selling/bying digital content or services. At the moment most Russian artists use Hipolink for PayPal payments. It's quite easy to use, it belongs to the same company as Boosty (MY.GAMES B.V / CEBS B.V - you can see these names in the receipts) (actually that's why a lot of Russian creators have hopes for PayPal getting back on Boosty). So, Hipolink is a kind of a backup site that was suggested by the Boosty community managers as an alternative payment method for artists from CIS countries. Hipolink allows you to buy commissions or any private content (tutorials, zines, etc.) using the PayPal account.

How to pay on Hipolink

In this post (as well as is on my Hipolink page) there's an image with a step by step tutorial.

Short version:

Everything is quite simple: go to the author's profile on Hipolink, select the desired product on the main page (or in case of commissions use the link I'll provide), specify USD as the payment currency, so that PayPal or Western bank cards appear in the list of payment methods (this is important, without it the desired payment method will not appear!). Enter your email, get a code there, enter it in the box and you'll go to the PayPal payment page.

Known issues

Hipolink is relatively new service, which is still in beta. Here are the list of known issues/errors that might occur and a few tips on how to avoid/resolve them.

It is better to have the full sum on your PayPal wallet. If at least the part of the money is on your bank card, an issue might occur. This isn't Hipolink's fault: some banks don't allow international transactions, and CEBC B.V. is located in Netherlands. This means that the bank can cancel your payment.

-If your bank allows international transactions but still cancels your payment (if you choose your bank card as your payment method), you might have to contact your bank.

-Sometimes Hipolink has troubles processing larger payments, so it is safer to divide it in a few lesser parts (100USD or lower).

-Sometimes PayPal denies a transaction and in this case, you might have to contact PayPal support. Same with the eternally pending transactions.

If you get an error, please contact me! Please do not try to send the money again, because you can accidentally pay twice!

When this company was founded, it was run by a bunch of terfs. Their official facebook group is staffed by a bunch of hateful bigots who openly despise men and run targeted harassment campaigns against customers. The 1950s aesthetic isn't just an aesthetic, it's like they believe in the tradwife schtick too. Their customer service and product quality was incredibly poor and they would delete negative reviews on their own platform. Nearly all of the positive reviews are written by employees, which is actually illegal. They had these reviews pre-written and would stack them on top of any negative review on other platforms to hide it down the page.

They are not worth the cost, they can't even produce anything to consistent sizes, they refuse to refund you when you receive something that's labeled with the wrong size or falls apart after the first wash, and their shipping costs last I looked were horrible--$12 for a single belt--this was pre-pandemic, and years before shipping rates were raised. They also don't provide a lot of basic information, like how long is the skirt? what is this material made of? etc. Are the straps adjustable? Often pictures of the back of the thing aren't included. It looks like they may have fixed the pictures issue, but not the other stuff: "this is made of ponte". Yeah, and? Ponte isn't a fiber, it's a weave. Cotton, polyester, silk? A blend? Elastic??? Those all behave differently and have different fit, care and warmth properties. Which is another problem: care instructions aren't listed. Generally you would assume machine wash, but when you don't know what it's made of, you can't assume that, and even then some stuff can't go in the wash if it's a delicate fabric or print even if it's cotton. I have cotton and poly clothing that are dryclean only because of the crepe finish on them, and other things that can't be tumble dried because of the fiber. That's not something I want to be surprised with when I receive it in the mail.

Here's their FAQ on this:

"EXCHANGES - At this time, we only allow exchanges for the same item in a different colorway or style."

Not for sizes. If size was included they would have said that. Or, as we will see in a second, they are just that careless.

"You are responsible for the cost of return shipping charges unless item is incorrect or damaged. If an item or element is missing it can be denied as a return and or deducted from your refund."

This is verbatim, they didn't grammar check this: the "the" is missing. Do you really think people who can't grammar check a webpage that's been up for years are going to pay basic attention to anything else? Simple errors like this are a huge red flag. Errors like this are all over the site, it's even in the owners' bios.

They also say that any return must include all its accessories, which is normal, but also that promo and "gift" items can't be returned. So is a free accessory promo item, like "receive free bag with $100 order" something that must be included with a returned order to get a refund, or is it a gift that doesn't need to be returned? I've seen stores do both, and this isn't clear. That's a very simple thing that needs addressed, and not something you should have to ask about. That's another huge red flag.

A dress that isn't damaged but whose size doesn't match the size chart or was incorrectly described on the website also isn't covered by this description of a "incorrect or damaged" item, so you're on the hook for that. They don't care if it falls apart in the wash, because that's clearly your fault. Their staff literally said to several people who asked for help about this, "suck it up and act like an adult". Again, a dress isn't damaged if it's not sized to the chart right, so you're the one paying to ship it back. These clothes are huge and heavy, that costs a LOT. They don't tell you where you have to ship it to either, so you can't even estimate how much it would be from where you are.

I'm pretty sure this is also the same owner who claimed she "custom designed" a bunch of fabrics but was found to have lied about that, as people found them available for retail on several big sites like Mood. It might have been one of her current or former partners though. The company that the owner was part of before this one was notorious for harassing customers, especially trans customers, and for the same awful customer service.

Stuff looks cool but so does cheap Aliexpress and Wish crap when it gets dressed up nice. Photoshop and staging makes anything look great, but Aliexpress pricing doesn't lie about the quality like this does.

I would not risk giving these people money. With Wish at least it's a few bucks for fun, this stuff you're sinking a lot more than a coffee into it and there's no guarantee you can get a refund or will win a chargeback.

Python and its learning advantages.

Guido Van Rossum the Inventor of the computer language, “Python” ,when began implementing Python as a programming language back in the late 1980s at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in the Netherlands came up with an interesting tale .

This had to do with why was the programming language named after a reptile, Guido back in those days always read the published scripts from “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, a BBC comedy series from the 1970s.

Van Rossum thought he needed a name that was short, unique, and slightly mysterious, so, he decided to call the language, Python.

That is how a name of a reptile was given to a computer language. Unlike the name the language is not dangerous rather it is one of the easiest programming language and can be made further easy by learning basic coding.

Surprisingly today when young minds of 6 -7 years old kids can get a hold of it I am sure that even you, and I can, but let’s first know a bit about Python before we set forth to this enriching learning experience.

• Python is an interpreted, object-oriented, high-level programming language with dynamic semantics.

• Its high-level built in data structures, combined with dynamic typing and dynamic binding, make it very attractive for Rapid Application Development, as well as for use as a scripting, or glue language to connect existing components together.

• Python’s simple, easy to learn syntax emphasizes readability and therefore reduces the cost of program maintenance.

• Python supports modules and packages, which encourages program modularity and code reuse.

• The Python interpreter and the extensive standard library are available in source or binary form without charge for all major platforms, and can be freely distributed.

Often, programmers fall in love with Python because of the increased productivity it provides. Since there is no compilation step, the edit-test-debug cycle is incredibly fast.

Debugging Python programs is easy, a bug or bad input will never cause a segmentation fault. Instead, when the interpreter discovers an error, it raises an exception. When the program doesn’t catch the exception, the interpreter prints a stack trace.

A source level debugger allows inspection of local and global variables, evaluation of arbitrary expressions, setting breakpoints, stepping through the code a line at a time, and so on.

The debugger is written in Python itself, testifying to Python’s introspective power. On the other hand, often the quickest way to debug a program is to add few print statements to the source and the fast edit-test-debug cycle makes this simple approach very effective.

Cry of a Lost Soul

This unusual narrative recounts the revelations of a lost soul to a former acquaintance. It is a powerful record of the steps which led a young woman to lose her soul in Hell for all eternity.

Although it has several times been printed with imprimatur, this in itself does not guarantee the authenticity of the story.

An imprimatur merely indicates that the subject matter is free from error in faith and morals.

Is it true?

Obviously, it cannot be "guaranteed" because the only evidence is that of the girl herself.

It certainly may be true and its instructional qualities would pertain even if the story itself were not true.

In the July apparition at Fatima a vision of a Hell of fire was given to the three little children, and significantly, its existence was confirmed by the great public miracle on October 13th.

Yet Hell is little spoken of in the pulpits. Because of this, the special intervention of Heaven, may, as at Fatima, be necessary to restore this sobering doctrine to its important place in Christian dogma.

It is well to remember that the Hell spoken of here is the Hell which has a significant place in Catholic doctrine, the Hell described vividly by Christ Himself, the Hell seen in all its livid horror by the children at Fatima on July 13th, 1917.

The names of persons and places are omitted because of the nature of the Article.

Clara and Annette, both single Catholics in their early twenties, worked adjacent to each other as employees of a commercial firm in Germany. Although they were never very close friends, they shared a courteous mutual regard which led to an exchange of ideas and, eventually, of confidences. Clara professed herself openly religious, and felt it her duty to instruct and admonish Annette when the latter appeared excessively casual or superficial in religious matters.

In due course, Annette married and left the firm. The year was 1937. Clara spent the autumn of that year on holiday at Lake Garda. About the middle of September she received a letter from her mother. "Annette . . . is dead. She was the victim of an auto accident and was buried yesterday at Wald-Friedhof."

Clara was frightened since she knew her friend was not very religious. Was she prepared to appear before God? Dying suddenly, what had happened to her?

The next day she attended Mass, received Holy Communion, and prayed fervently for her friend. The following night, at ten minutes after midnight, the vision took place. . .

"Clara, do not pray for me! I am in hell. If I tell you this and speak at length about it, do not think it is because of our friendship. We here do not love anyone. I do this as under constraint. In truth, I should like to see you to come to this state where I must remain forever."

"Perhaps that angers you, but here we all think that way. Our wills are hardened in evil - in what you call evil. Even when we do something 'good', as I do now, opening your eyes about hell, it is not because of a good intention."

"Do you still remember our first meeting four years ago at. . .? You were then 23 and had been there already half a year. Because I was a beginner, you gave me some helpful advice. Then I praised your love of your neighbor. Ridiculous! Your help was mere coquetry. Here we do not acknowledge any good - in anybody."

"According to the plan of my parents, I should not have existed. A misfortune brought about my conception. My two sisters were 14 and 15 when I was born."

With reluctance do I force myself to make you understand."

"The blessed in heaven must love God because they see Him without veil, in all His dazzling beauty. That makes their bliss indescribable. We know this and the knowledge makes us furious. Men on earth, who know God from nature and from revelation, can love Him, but they are not compelled to do so. The believer - I say this with gnashing of teeth - who contemplates Christ on the cross, with arms extended, will end by loving Him."

"But he whom God approaches only in the final storm, as punisher, as just avenger, because he was rejected by Him, such a person cannot but hate Him with all the strength of his wicked will. We died with willful resolve to be separated from God. Do you now understand why hell lasts forever! It is because our wills were fixed for eternity at the moment of death. We had made our final choice. Our obstinacy will never leave us. Under compulsion, I must add that God is merciful even towards us. I affirm many things against my will and must choke the torrent of abuses I should like to vomit out."

He caused us to die before our time, as in my case, or had other mitigating circumstances intervene. Every step bringing us closer to God would cause us a greater pain than that which a step closer to a burning furnace would cause you."

They must first commit some mortal sins. Then the white Particle will not do so much damage to our cause as when faith, hope, and charity - oh, these things! - received in Baptism, are still alive in their hearts."
