So like, let’s say the Oracle was outside of the palace and went to an area in the city, or outside the city on an errand or something. Then the Oracle comes back covered in rotten food and dirt, and bleeding from there forehead because the area they went to was not to….lets say welcoming to Oracle. And by that I mean classic middle age fashion, throw stuff at people(demons) that they are weary of to make them leave. But Oracle didn’t do anything. Didn’t react even after getting rained on by garbage and rocks. Just letting them do whatever and went about their day. However when they got back to the palace Oracle tried to rinse off the evidence in like a near by pond or something so as not to offend others noses. Oracle just thinking THEY must have done something to offend them not the bigger problem of getting trash thrown at you😅
What are the RO doing?
This story takes up my thoughts🫶
Omg. That's so sad... But also not out of the realm of possibilities.
Vez, Os, and Laz will find every demon who was on that street and give a threatening lesson to them. For Vez, it's important that you're safe, not just because they care about you, but because it's also their responsibility, and they'll do everything they can to make sure this doesn't happen again with you or anyone else. Laz is doing that solely to protect you and you alone. If they need to put some fear into the general public to dissuade it from making your life harder, then they will. Os's reasoning is both of these.
Ash and Az will focus on you firstly. Comfort you and tell you how wrong those demons were and that this is nothing you should get used to or suffer through. Once your conversation is finished, they'll go to Vez and ask them for a favor, which will lead to the upper scenario with finding the culprits and making them pay for the trouble.
Though, in this scenario Vez would be bound to do some lecturing even if no one asked them. Even you weren't in a good relationship with them, they still wouldn't allow others to mistreat someone like this. The culprits will be brought to court with real charges that will keep bringing them trouble for a long time because Vez wants to make an example out of them and discourage everyone else from copying this behavior. You'll get personal protectors too.
There's definitely some talking they all will need to do with you because you shouldn't consider that incident normal and hide it from them. They all are upset in one way or another because of the unjust treatment you got and how you view it.
Thank you for the ask 💛 I'm glad you like the story!

Hello! i sent you russian recs before and i hope they helped you! this is like the first time i see someone be so enthusiastic about learning russian, im sure your mom will come around and if not the most important thing is what makes you happy, i hope you're feeling better
Утро is so good!! im so glad you liked it! 🥺 and i got more for you
Кино is a legendary band, even though I'm not that big of a fan, you might like some of their songs
there are bands that are generally well-known, like Нервы (i think some of the most popular songs are Самый дорогой человек and Слишком влюблен) and Би-2 (they're not necessarily in the same category though)
the hatters have some good songs but im not sure which ones really to recommend tbh, maybe Танцы or Да, со мной не просто, they're pretty funky
Аффинаж have a unique sound id say, i recommend their songs Солнце and Звездолет
some random songs from my playlist: Черные очки by Комсомольск, Молчи by кис-кис, Не спеши performed by Анна Герман (or Муслим Магомаев, his version is very beautiful too)
also i recently revisited some artists that were popular way back then, so if you want a song to be super sad to Бесполезно by Валентин Стрыкало is perfect
lastly seeing that you like Аквариум id recommend checking out songs from old soviet movies, they all unlock never before known emotions, songs like Нежность, Со мною вот что происходит, Последняя поэма
this is kind of all over the place i apologize hsjakam
Good luck with your studies btw!!!! you're doing great from what i saw on your blog <3
hi !!! i know this is literally months late but i was keeping it bc i wanted to listen to the songs in moments of crisis TM to keep me warm ! that sounds so silly but like the romanticism of listening to new songs recommended by a stranger askdjfh thank you so so much for these !!! i’ll tell you what i think of each of therm !
Кино - theyre not necessarily my style either but Бездельник (the first one) is so good honestly !! i think theyre one of those bands you have to listen to the whole discography of to get to the hidden gems sdhf also i read some of their history and Oh My God ok i get why theyre legendary now sdkhd
Нервы - this isn’t really my style :( i think the voice is too nasally ? idk it’s just not my thing but i can see how it would be appealing !!
Би-2 - sort of similar to Кино sdhds like they have some really good things but not a lot which makes me think i have to go through their songs and find the rly good things !!
the hatters -  Танцы sounds like it has great music video potential omg it almost reminds me of caravan palace by lone digger ? same vibes ksdhf .  со мной не просто is rly good i genuinely like this one !!! it has supervillain vibes in the best way !! it cheered me up a bit :) it’s so upbeat
Аффинаж - the intro for Солнце is so good + it’s so atmospheric !! the lyrics are so poetic too !! Звездолет too !! it has poetically dystopian vibes sdkhf i think in terms of actual sound and lyrics they’re really good !! the неееееебо плечом задев на землю просыпал снег ~ и еееей на снегу пишу - то, что, боюсь, не скажу bit is physically healing me for some reason sdjfj ill add this to my playlist !
Черные очки by Комсомольск - i genuinely dont know why this hits but it does !!!
Молчи by кис-кис - this is very sad and the lyrics are so well written but it also sounds ,, politically charged ? it kind of sounds like what the youth people in my country would sing if they were allowed musical freedom idk how to explain it sjdf
Не спеши makes me wants to dance in the kitchen tenderly with a lover at midnight with it on a record player asjdhf i am having feelings !!
Бесполезно by Валентин Стрыкало - i actually listened to this before ?? omg i didnt realise sdhf i have it saved !! but anyway без меня всё будет так же так же как со мной осколки звёзд сорвутся с неба и исчезнут king im going to cry valentin did that <3 valentin strykalo handshake claude debussy : beat drops !
also this is completely absurd but im listening to Последняя поэма as im typing this and i dont know why but im literally in tears !! like physically i am crying maybe its pent up emotions ?? either way i just ,, im feeling things dkshf its os gentle i want to tell this song “thanks for the hug”
thank you so so so so so so so much for everything !!!! im sorry i was so late w responding :(( i love asks like this so much !!! i appreciate it a lot :)

ok so i've been staring at the ah!love edit for like a good one hour now, i keep coming back to it and i just go 🤩🤩💖💖✨✨ how long have you been editing for? which programs do you use? any tips you would give for people who are thinking of delving into gfx and editing? Hope you don't mind the questions, i'm just curious
omg thank you!! seriously you are too too sweet hehe :”) and i’ve been editing since 2014?? 2015?? I can’t believe time flies that fast LOL
I use photoshop cc 2019!! I also use after effects if I want a specific overlay for gifs or illustrator if I’m primarily working with vectors!
I HOPE I DON’T RAMBLE but here are my biggest tips in the most condensed way possible LOL (I also have a ps tag here~) update: it is NOT condense therefore it will be under a read more <3 I hope this helps!
understand placement (balance, proximity, alignment) - I personally think this is important because it helps guide the viewers’ eyes through your edit in the way it’s intended & can help make an edit look aesthetically pleasing!!
For balance it’s all about understanding how each element carries it’s own visual weight / like for example in this edit the focus on the polaroids but I don’t like too much negative space so I added plants in certain areas to help frame the focus of the panel.
For proximity I just make sure that each element has enough space around it! So if you have a subject edit like this, I put the focus on Joshua and either layer elements behind him or use the gradient tool to make sure the background elements aren’t distracting
For alignment I would just keep note of the different elements you introduce and keep it consistent if things are meant to be center aligned, off-centered, etc.
So if we apply that to the two different edits below:
balance: left edit I keep it consistent with displaying “three” text blocks about their debut, and 3 eras; I also use the same rounded square shape in each // in the right edit I keep it balanced by using a few elements: polaroid + flowers. notice that the smaller flowers are on the right hand side of the polaroid and the bigger flowers are on the left side
proximity: on the left edit I use physical lines to show the end of one section and a new section, Also the rounded square images keep everything contained and since there are a lot of different styles (different seventeen logos and small icons) I use more white space to separate them. on the right edit I just use the contours of the flowers and space them evenly that way
alignment: left edit i use thirds to separate each element and everything is centered, whereas the right edit has a more organic feel??? so I layered elements more to make it look realistic
Tumblr media
play around with colors!!! it helps to know a little about color theory: honestly I just use the colors I like the most, but even knowing how colors look against each other and knowing which ones can be used as accents helps bring the edit together! there’s a bunch of palette generators on tumblr to help you pick colors if you’re indecisive!!
try different styles! I think it’s super fun to dive into a LOT of different graphic design styles like vector art, infographics, manipulation (like my cyberpunk edits), or flatlay styles!
use tutorials!! There’s a bunch of tutorials on tumblr in achieving different styles, AND on behance.net there’s a BUNCH of mockups that can be used to spice up your edits!!!
don’t feel pressured to post everything you make or have an edit out quickly I feel like sometimes we are pressured to post everything we make, but sometimes you can use it as a learning opportunity!! I would say post what you are proud of!!
TOOLS FOR EDITORS
photoshop/phone apps - I know a lot of people on twitter use phone apps which is really cool in editing, but for me I think photoshop is my go to since it has so many capabilities!! hint: search adobe zii patch for Mac OS to get it for fr33
USE EDITABLE IMAGES!! - if you use fantakens please check to make sure they allow editing. I think hanwooz has a good tutorial of how to ask for permission, but usually on their twitter profiles they say if they allow editing. There’s also scans you can use from @iiashascans that are editable with credit. I personally use Seventeen’s behind the scene images OR their naver x dispatch photos since its so HD lol
Freepik and Unsplash for free images you can use freepik.com or unsplash.com for free images!! I used unsplash for my cyberpunk backgrounds lol

snr szn ~ advice for high school seniors
it’s not gonna be perfect, and that’s ok. high school movies tell us that senior year is this amazing time in your life where you have all these formative experiences that shape the course of your destiny or something, but in my experience this is not really the case. my senior year was somehow both excruciatingly slow and very fast, and it had ups and downs just like any other school year. so if your senior year isn’t a wonderful collection of instagrammable moments, don’t worry. everyone else is finding “senior season” a little underwhelming too, even the people who seem to be having the most fun. quite frankly, you shouldn’t want your senior year of high school to be the best year of your life.
college apps are important, but you don’t have to kill yourself over them. i know, i can say this because i just finished them, but it’s so true. applying to college is a horrible, tedious process that i’m going to attempt to break down in another masterpost. i went to a high school where people were fucking obsessed with getting into college, and it was sort of horrifying to watch people self-destruct over the process. even i (and i consider myself a fairly private, non-competitive, even-keeled person) went a little nuts towards the end. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, there is no reason on god’s green earth to apply to twenty or more schools. it’s expensive (most application fees are 60+ USD), time-consuming, and stressful. the only reason i can even see why you might be doing this is if you qualify for a bunch of application fee waivers, but even then, it’s just stupid. most colleges make you write secondary essays in addition to the common or coalition app essay, and that doesn’t even factor in scholarship applications, interview prep, and keeping up with school on top of everything. the best thing you can do for yourself is pick around ten-ish schools that you’re actually serious about attending and skip the hassle. you will get into at least one college if you apply smart. trust me. the people i know who went ham with applications were miserable all the time (even the smartest ones) and most of them didn’t even get into their top choice schools. when you’re churning out 3+ essays every month, it follows that they’re not all gonna be winners. additionally, know that life will go on even if you don’t get into harvard. relax. you have an entire life ahead of you. even if it doesn’t work out exactly how you planned, good things take time, ya feel?
you’re still valid even if you don’t participate in every “senior activity” possible. “but it’s your last pep rally!!” “you HAVE to go to prom!!” “let’s go to every football game this season!!”  no. just no. you’re really not gonna remember a lot of this stuff. if large crowds of ppl aren’t your thing, if you’re stressed or tired, if you don’t have the money (a lot of these “senior only” activities are EXPENSIVE expensive or at least they were at my school), or if you just have no interest in homecoming or whatever, IT’S FINE. you don’t have to justify this stuff to other people. i let ppl guilt trip me into doing a bunch of shit for our “last high school memories” or whatever and uhhh i didn’t always have a good time. for one thing, i’ve never had a shit ton of school spirit or whatever and two, being around crowds of ppl is pretty draining for me. the only “senior activity” i actually enjoyed was prom, but i knew ppl who skipped out on that and ya know what? i think they were ok. i never bought a yearbook. it’s fine. you should shape your senior year around what’s mentally/financially safe for you + and what you’re actually interested in, not what people expect you to do.
you don’t really have to do extracurricular activities this year, so don’t do anything you’re not truly passionate about. i stopped doing a lot of stuff like model un and science olympiad this year because i just wasn’t interested in them anymore. and i don’t regret it. to be blunt, you already have the lines on your resume filled by those activities if you’ve done them for a long time. so if you’re not feelin’ it, don’t waste your time. just do the things you wanna do. i did a lot of theater stuff last year and had a great time. it was super rewarding and i had a pretty good time with my castmates, and i was glad i had done that instead of more “academic” activities like scioly.
it’s ok to be unsure about your plans for the future. for some reason, this is the year, every adult in your life is gonna be like, “wHaT’s Ur MaJoR???” and “wHaT jOb Do YoU wAnNa HaVe wHeN u GrOw uP??” as a result, you can start to feel a lot of pressure around having an answer prepared, and if you are on the fence about what you wanna do with your life, you can feel like other ppl have their shit together a lot more and that you’re aimless and stupid. trust me, you’re not, though. i personally think it’s unfair that we expect 18 y/os, who in many ways are still kids, to have their whole life planned out. a lot is still liable to change even after high school, and I think you’ll be remiss if you don’t allow your dreams and ambitions to change with it. if you’re truly unsure about your plans but you know you’re going to college, i’d recommend making sure none of the places you’re applying to are going to lock you down in a major when you set foot on campus. i have friends who are going to large universities who have already basically declared a major, which to me seems like an odd system. if 4-yr college isn’t in the cards for you for whatever reason, try taking a year off, getting a job, or community college. a lot of ppl i know look down on ccs, but to my knowledge, community college can be a great start to figuring out what you wanna do with your life. you have time. don’t rush it.
getting sick of your school friends is normal. it sounds mean, but in my experience, it’s true. i mean you’ve gone to school with these people for 4 or more years now, and you’ve changed a lot. and that doesn’t mean you don’t like them and wish them well, but there can be days where you’re like “omg pls stop talking to me rn!!” especially in that lull after application season. don’t be mean to anyone ofc, but realize that feeling exasperated with your peers is just part of the process, and you’re not a bad person for wanting a little bit of space. in my experience, unless the issue is w regards to toxicity or people being generally shitty, ppl will be able to connect w each other much more normally after school is over.
you will get senioritis to some degree, but you have to push through it. it must be great to be one of those people who literally never stops working. but for the vast majority of us, some kind of senioritis will slap us in the ass after applications are done. you will have no motivation to do coursework but! remember that coursework needs to be completed! to be completely honest, once you’ve been accepted to college, you really only need to maintain a C average to not get rescinded, and i knew plenty of people who screwed around more than i did and they didn’t get their admission rescinded. but like, you don’t want to be one of those people who somehow fails a class because you don’t “feel like” doing the homework. you need to graduate, you need to hold onto your scholarship, and you need to maintain your accepted status. quite honestly, you need to kick ur own ass and make yourself work, whether that’s by turning down invites to hang out, or putting your phone in a different room. also, don’t be that person who’s playing iphone games in every class. your teachers will think you’re an asshole, and that’s really not the move.
you don’t have to take everyone’s advice. this is the year everyone wants to be an expert on adulting, whether that’s your peers or parents’ colleagues or school counselors. in the end, your are the only one who can decide what’s right for you based on your financial situation and what you are comfortable with. i’m not saying “don’t take anyone’s advice”, because i truly believe there are some people out there who have the means to help you succeed. but i think you should pick and choose because you’re about to be fed a deluge of information that may or may not be useful or relevant to what you want to do. for example, people told me that i was limiting myself by not applying to any ivy league schools or very many competitive universities, or that i should lie about my race on my application (!!) because of the bias against ppl of asian descent in college admissions (note: i actually wrote about my heritage in my common app essay so it wasn’t like it was some secret lmao), which were uhhh not helpful. do what feels right and don’t feel the need to humor ppl who don’t have your best interests at heart.
don’t compare yourself with other ppl. it’s natural to be a little jealous of peers who snag acceptances to prestigious colleges on full-tuition scholarships or land dream jobs/gap-year programs right out of high school. it’s a bit of an ugly feeling, but i’m not gonna sit here and say i didn’t wish i was one of those people at a point. that’s disingenuous in the extreme. it’s ok to be disappointed if everything doesn’t all work out, but at a certain point you need to accept what’s happening to you and make the very damn best of it. wallowing in self-pity just because your classmates are succeeding is just stupid. also, recognize that everyone’s ability to achieve their post-hs goals is wildly different based on their own circumstances. if you are less financially able to pay for college, for example, your opportunities are more limited than someone with a six-figure college fund. it’s quite frankly naive to assume that everyone shares your experience. be happy for people who do well. be happy for people who are proud of themselves. don’t try to take other people down because you’re feeling bitter. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again-other people’s success is not your failure.
take time to do some much needed self care. senior year can be hectic, and it’s important to disengage from stressful situations. take a walk. watch a movie with your friends. take a long shower. don’t think you have to be “productive” all the time. you won’t be, and that’s ok.

You’re The Sun To My Shine
As Per Requested
If you’re still taking requests can you do one with Justin where you’re dating and get into a fight because one of them gets jealous about something?
I hope its ok and you like it. :)
Justin Foley X Reader
Warning: swearing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Justin Foley. What a complex guy. Jerky jock at school, broken unwanted boy at home and sweet kind amazing boyfriend to you. You had been dating Justin for roughly a year. You were surprised when he asked you out because you knew that your best friend Kat, was in love with him and always thought they would end up together. You asked her a thousand times if it was ok to go on the date and she kept telling you in was fine. Justin took you out to the cresmont, to see a movie, then you went to Rosies for some shakes. It was a perfect night and that's the night that started your relationship.
You had always been a little jealous of other girls flirting with justin given his history of being the jock that has slept with the most amount of girls. You never told justin about your insecurities because you didn't want to seem like a clingy, jealous girlfriend. None of the girls who flirted with him were too touchy feely, so it made you feel a little better. That was, until you walked into school tuesday morning. You saw justin. He was leaning up against some girls locker, smiling his killer smile, and she was ruffling his hair and giggling. It made you so mad! You don't know what got over you, but you were determined to piss him off and make him jealous like you were.
In class, instead of sitting next to Justin, which you always did,  you made it a point to sit with Montgomery or Scott, or Jeff. Which ever other jock, or friend of justin's was in your class, you sat with him. By the end of third period, Justin was livid. He stormed out f class and headed for the cafeteria. When you walked in he grabbed you by the arm and pulled you to the far back where no one ever sat.
“What the actual fuck??” Justin asked angrily looking at you
“What? I haven't done anything wrong!” you said in a matter of fact way.
“Why aren't you sitting with me in class??”
“Im sitting with friends is all, sometimes i need a change.” you said walking away.
You sat at the jock table between Scott and Monty.
“What is going on between you two?” Bryce asks looking at you
“Nothing, i'm not allowed to sit with friends? Just because im dating justin means i have to be with him at all times, not allowed to sit with friends, talk to another guy??” you asked very sarcastically, with a little anger in your voice.
“Wow chill the fuck down, it was only a question.” bryce replied.
The bell rings to signal the end of lunch. As everyone is getting up from the table bryce says “ Party my house tonight”
“Perfect” you thought!
You went home after school did your homework, ignoring justins texts. Roughly half hour to party time you, picked out a casual outfit, black ripped skinny jeans and a red crop top. You walked the 6 blocks to bryces house because you knew that you would be drinking and did not want to drive.  As soon as you got their, you headed to the kitchen to make yourself a drink. Monty and Scott were hanging out drinking.
“What are we drinking boys” you asked hugging them
“Hm for you, how about this maple whiskey and coke?” scott says showing you a bottle of Maple Crown Royal.
“Sure that sounds yummy” you reply as you pour way more than a shots worth of whiskey into your cup.
“Oh My. God. this is too good!!! Try it” you say handing your cup to monty who laughs and tries your drink, and passes it to scott.
“Whats going on here?” Justin asks as he walks up to you guys.
“Nothing, i just told the guys they had to try my drink because it's delicious!!” you said taking another sip.
“Can i try?” justin asked reaching for your cup, taking it and taking a sip. “Oh this os good. Thanks for the drink babe” justin said walking away with your drink.
“Justin give that back!” you whined following him.
He walked outside, to the front lawn, by a tree where no one was.
“So you gonna tell me why you've been acting like a bitch?” justin said getting right to the point.
“Wow you're blunt!”
“Well you gonna tell me??”
“Omg stop acting like me sitting with Jeff, or scott or monty is a bad thing. At least i wasn't letting them get all close and personal!!!!”
“What??? wait … omg are you mad because i was talking to a niner”
“No.. im… uuuurg…. I'm upset that you would let her feel you up.” you said looking down at your feet.
Justin grabbed your chin and lifted your head so you could look him in the eyes.
“Babe. You’re all i want. This morning, was nothing. She walked up to me, telling me her friends dared her to ruffle my hair. I laughed and said she could. That was all i swear! I love you too much to give us up.” with that he pulled you in for a kiss and hugged you tight.
“ im sorry.. I just.. I just for scared that you would find someone better.” you replied your head on his chest.
“ baby, no no no, i love you!!! Only you! You the peanut to my butter, the froot to my loop, the sun to my shine. And i'm nothing NOOOOOTHING without you!!”
You kissed justin and hugged him before you both headed back to the party hand in hand.
Survey #112
“i’m like a jesus crisis.”
Have you ever kissed someone who was drunk?  He wasn't wasted or anything, but I'm pretty sure he was drunk with how ungodly talkative he was, and was way more expressive of emotions than he naturally was. Do you like going to weddings?  I do again now.  Although I haven't been to one since recovery, I'm sure I'd handle it fine and actually be happy this time.  I need to get more comfortable in that setting since I'd actually really like a big part of my hopeful photography career to be weddings.  Such a big celebration of love is something I adore.  I already just like taking pictures of couples. Who was the last person you know who became pregnant?  BECAME pregnant, uh, I think a person I'm actually doing pictures for in January. Beach, city, or mountains?  M O U N T A I N S.  DAMMIT they're so beautiful. You get a call at 2:00 a.m. - your first thought is:  My instinctive answer to this question is, "is something wrong with Sara?"  I live with my mom and sister, so it wouldn't be them, and it's not like Ashley calls me if there's trouble, she'd call Mom.  Dad would call Ashley.  She's pretty much the only thing that would come to mind if someone called me at 2:00 A.M. Future names of your children:  I'm not having kids, but I'd absolutely name my daughter Alessandra and my son probably Luther, Vincent, or Victor. How much does your mother know about your sex life (or lack thereof)?  She's aware I'm a virgin but have "done things." Are any of your siblings married? What are their spouses’ names?  Nick and very recently Joshua.  I don't know if one's married or anything whatsoever, two are in relationships, idk about my brother. Do you think age matters in relationships?  In romantic relationships, yes. What brand of face wash do you use?  Biore. What’s the last letter of your last name?  S Did your parents give you an allowance as a kid?  No, we couldn't afford to do that. Would you ever consider moving to another country for your career?  No, and that's the reason I'm not pursuing being a meerkat biologist. Do you have any lingerie? Lol no, no one wants to see me in that. What was the shortest amount of time you knew someone before dating them?  A few weeks.  Maybe a little less than a month. What is your favorite app on your phone?  Fuckin' thanks Sara, DragonVale.  I love Pinterest more when I actually go on it, but I don't use it a lot. Which of your pets were you closest to in your lifetime?  The dog I have now, Teddy. Who are you most proud of?  Myself.  I don't mean that in an arrogant way, but seriously.  I don't over-exaggerate what I've been through, but I don't make it sound lesser than what it was, either.  I know I should be proud. When you’re eating pizza do you add anything like crushed peppers, parmesan cheese or hot sauce to it?  No.  Jason got me into adding hot sauce to jalapeno pizza (we wanted death, I know), but I don't do it now.  Loved it, but I think it being slightly less hot was more enjoyable. When was the last time that you plucked your eyebrows?  I've never plucked them; I used to get them waxed, but no longer do.  Don't see the point- they're just going to grow back, and quickly, and I'm not wasting money on that maintenance.  It's not like normal eyebrows are hideous anyway. Do you ever argue or debate with people about your beliefs? I will avoid this at all costs.  I hate it. When’s the last time you had Sunny D? Holy moly, I couldn't tell you.  But it used to sometimes give me heartburn, so I could only fucking imagine drinking it now if I hadn't taken my heartburn medication. Would you turn a family member in if you see them commit murder?  Duh. Would you risk your life to save a total stranger? A total stranger, honestly, no.  I don't know anything about that person.  Could be a piece of shit. Have you ever embarrassed someone intentionally in public? I don't remember ever doing so, and I never could now.  As someone with AvPD, I know how fucking awful embarrassment can be.  Plus it's just rude to try to make someone uncomfortable like that. Are you more likely to believe a man or woman? I'm perfectly aware this is wrong, but a woman.  I'm afraid of and don't trust men. Are you satisfied with the picture on your ID card?  Hell no.  Thank God I look like a totally different person now. What fruit did you last eat?  Hmmm, maybe strawberries? What font do you use most? I prefer Garamond for basic things. Are you allergic to anything? Pollen, big time, and silver. Where is your dad from? Ohio.  ... Or maybe he was born in Michigan but grew up in Ohio.  Idk. Aside from your own, whose house did you last set foot into?  Ashley's co-worker's. What was the first thing you learned how to cook? Scrambled eggs.  And it's still the only thing I know how to cook lmao. What are some wild animals commonly found where you live?  Squirrels and birds are the only things you commonly see.  But you'll see a deer sometimes, too, and more rarely a rabbit.  I think I've seen a fox once in my entire life.  Oh yeah, you'll see possums and raccoons sometimes at night. Does it take a lot to make you cry?  Noooope.  Well, yes to physical pain. What’s the longest hospital stay you’ve had? For what?  Uhhh I think I was there for two weeks.  Mental stuff. Do you know any same-sex married couples?  Hm... I actually don't think I personally do. Have you ever had a best friend who was of the opposite sex?  There was a point where we dated, Jason was like my only real life friend lol, so he was.  Now I call my girlfriend my best friend, but if you don't include s/os, then my current one would be a guy. Skim, 1%, 2% or whole milk?  Eh, probably 2%. Was the last person you kissed physically attractive? Personally, I wasn't physically attracted to him.  But he's definitely not an ugly guy or anything. Do you prefer to say “haha” or “lol?”  I'd say I use them just about the same amount... maybe "lol" more? How many stories does your house have?  One. Were you dreams very vivid as a child? Yes. Do you eat meat?  If you do, what is your justification for it? Yes.  One, the human diet is meant to contain meat.  It's much easier for our bodies to receive the nutrients it needs with meat.  Two, it's part of population control.  Yes, I know, you could argue the exact same for humans, but it's not like a sane person's gonna start eating humans.  Three, it's just the food chain.  Humans are on top of it.  The process of killing an animal for food seems horrible and cruel, I know, and I doubt I personally could do it unless it was a survival situation, but I don't see it as morally wrong. Do you think that time travel is a possibility?  I don't think it's possible, really.  And if it ever happened, you can bet we'd fuck shit up. Do you enjoy night or day better?  I've actually gotten to where I enjoy day.  I strangely have a much higher chance of experiencing anxiety at night, which has kinda turned me away from it.  Plus I have more energy and am generally in a better mood over all in the early day. Have you ever been to a protest? No.  But the more and more passionate I get about gay rights, I'd absolutely partake in a *peaceful* protest regarding that subject now if one was nearby. Worst decision you ever made?  Let a heavily flawed person essentially become God to me. Do you like to hang out with friends one-on-one or in groups? Eh, depends on the mood of those who would be involved, including myself. Bambi or Nemo?  Nemo.  I've actually never seen Bambi, but I love Nemo.  Lil cutie. Do you have any of your exes as friends on Facebook?  Don and Aaron, yeah.  Well wait, Juan too, but I barely even consider him an ex. Has your partner ever accused you of cheating, when you actually didn’t? No. If your hair is long, would you ever think about having it cut short? Or, if it’s short, would you like to grow it long?  I have a short portion on the left and then the rest is shoulder-length.  After seeing myself with a bit of short hair, I'm thinking of getting a purely short haircut eventually.  Built my confidence up when Mom said she thought I'd probably look nice with a short hairstyle after seeing my new haircut.  It'd be something different. What area of science interests you the most?  Genetics. Have you ever been in an inflatable bouncy house? Yeah. Do you think there will be a WWIII?  Yes, eventually.  I don't think humanity's going anywhere too soon, and there's too many militant people. What are things you’re exceptionally good at? Uh.  Going into full-blown panic mode over stupid shit??  That's my specialty. Do you have any good book ideas?  I think a ton of the stories within my friend group's RP would make amazing novels, but I highly doubt any of us will ever actually make books about it. In all honesty, can a person be too nice?  Mixed feelings.  I just don't think some people deserve being nice to, but a part of me says you should treat everyone with kindness regardless, all the while not letting people get away with shit. Is mental abuse really as bad as physical abuse?  Fuck yes it can be.  Some people will take one worse than the other, but both are fucking awful.  Both can ruin someone's life. Zelda Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time? I have zero interest in Zelda. Do you own a rosary? I'm sure I have one somewhere.  I was raised Roman Catholic, and essentially every Catholic has one. What's the hardest game you've ever played?  Fucking Dark Souls.  I gave it a good effort, but did nooot get that far.  The difficulty honestly drained all the fun out of it.  The hardest game I've ever beaten, uhhh... omg.  Maybe it was just my age/when I played it, but "The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night" was so.  Fucking.  Hard.  It literally took me a year or so playing it on-and-off to beat it.  Fantastic game, but my god it was hard.  "Parasite Eve" was also pretty damn hard (mostly thanks to the last boss, jc), but I definitely beat it faster. Would you ever try Fear Factor for one million dollars? Why or why not?  No, wouldn't see the point in wasting the time.  I KNOW I would never get past the second day where you eat some crazy shit.  Nope.  Couldn't do most things they do due to me being a germaphobe, either. If you have a camera, when do you use flash? I never do because I hate the lighting personally, plus the red eyes are just no.  I'd need to learn more about properly using it. What do you call your grandparents? Grammy and Grandpa. What color do you usually paint your nails? I don't paint my nails. Do you look better with red lipstick or black lipstick?  I personally think black.  It fits me better. How many times have you actually been in love?  Once.  I'm not to that point in my current relationship, but I most certainly love her.  There's a difference. How many pills do you take a day?  Five. Have you ever been around someone who was high?  Yeah. Do you want a church wedding?  Definitely not, that's way too traditional for my taste. Have you ever met any celebrities? Lol you don't meet celebrities among my interests in NC.  One day. Have you ever tried archery?  No, but I was interested in it once. Favorite foreign food? Hm.  I'm not sure. Were your ancestors royalty? I only know of Queen Victoria. Does your house have air conditioning throughout, or do you have one that sits in your window? Throughout. Would you ever move to Canada? Sure.  I mean it wouldn't be my first pick for sure, but there's beautiful landscapes, and it at least seems to have way less drama than here. What about Kansas?  Tornado Alley?  Fuck that shit. When you go swimming, do you put your hair up or down?  I keep it down. What do you think is the coolest piercing on someone else?  Ohhh.  This really depends on the person.  Coolest... probably collarbone dermals.  If mine were actually prominent and dermals didn't make me nervous, I'd probably have them.  They're beautiful, but seem super painful.  And risky. Are you attracted to girls?  I've pretty quickly realized I'm more attracted to them than men both physically and emotionally. Growing up what were your favorite cartoon characters?  I loved both Pikachu and Ash. Do you know anyone in a wheelchair?  I don't believe so. If heaven or hell didn’t exist and wasn’t a reward would you still make an effort in being a good person? Duh. Do you want your kids to go to church, synagogue, temple, mosque? Why?  If I had kids, I wouldn't force them to go.  I don't even go. Do you think starting a gofundme is begging or helpful?  It can be either depending on the reason and person's honest intentions. Could you put your dreams on hold to support your bf/gf pursuing theirs? On hold?  Yes. How long should sex last?  It depends on the couple and how they're feeling.  But once one person wants to stop, you stop. Five year plan? Go!  Move out and have a stable job.  Those are the main two things.  Other things will fall into place. Can you be content if you are physically uncomfortable?  I couldn't be. Do you have pictures of your friends, and family in your bedroom? No. How old were you when you went on your first date?  That was like 7th grade, don't know age.  Me, Aaron, and I think two other friends went to a roller rink.  It was enough of a date for middle schoolers lol. Have you ever had surgery, if so for what?  Tubes put in ears when I was 2, pilonidal cyst surgery July this year. Have you ever seen a shark, and if so, were you scared? Never in the wild, just in aquariums.  They never scared me.  Such majestic creatures.  Now if I saw one in the ocean, yeah, I'd be scared. Have you ever gone fishing, or is that totally yucky? Fishing with Dad may just hold my all-time favorite childhood memories.  One of my most cherished memories is this time Dad, Nicole, and I woke up really early to go out on the boat at the nearby river to fish 'til around noon, when activity slows down.  So peaceful and beautiful out there, I'd love to fish there again with him.  I remember it so clearly that I can recall I packed those tiny 3 Musketeers chocolates and Nicole brought Snickers, lol.  Didn't have breakfast since we left so early.  Man... so many good memories related to fishing. Do you enjoy museums, or think they are totally boring? I.  LOVE.  Museums. Do you think illegally downloading things is wrong?  My conscience says yes.  You're stealing.  Yet I still download music.  Oops. Have you and your friend ever liked the same guy/girl?  Not that I know of. Do you tell your best friend everything?  I tell Sara just about every little thing. Ever taken any lessons for anything? Guitar lessons, yeah. Do you call it pop, soda, or fizzy drink?  Soda. Do you like french fries, cheese and gravy mixed together? Uh, that sounds horrid, even without the fact I hate gravy. Do you live in a house, apartment, or what? House. How hot does the temperature get in the summer where you live?  Mid-high 90s, low 100s.  Sometimes high 80s. When was the last time you had a headache? What about stomachache?  Headache, a couple days ago or so.  I get them a lot.  Stomachache, not since I got sick two or so months back. Where is your second home?  Uh.  I guess my dad's? Honestly, could you live without your computer?  Honestly, after being exposed to one for so long, I couldn't live happily, no.  Not unless I just adjusted to not having one after a very, very long time, but I don't even know if that would happen. What is more annoying, people who take forever to reply to texts or when they only say ‘K’? I stg do not reply to me with just "k." Is family the most important thing in your life? If not, what is? My definition of family is different than the traditional.  Just like friends, for me, you pick "real" family.  Say I'm related to an absolute asshole; by actual definition, they'd be family, but to me, nope.  I can put other people above "actual" family, so to answer the question, not necessarily. After taking a shower, do you change in the bathroom or the bedroom?  Bathroom. Are you completely over your last relationship?  There was nothing to get over.  I never got to where I loved him and doubt I ever could.  It was just awkward. Last 3 movies you watched?  "Monster House," "Corpse Bride," and uhhh... pretty sure "Coraline." Do you get stage fright?  Well, when I used to dance, it wasn't that bad since I was with others.  Now, I'm not so sure how I'd be. When was the last time you read a whole book, to the last page exactly?  February. Did you ever actually have a rubber duck? Pretty sure yes. Do you love your computer? MY laptop, yes.  The one I currently have to use, ew. Is there an outdoor movie theater where you live?  No. Have you ever seen your mom or dad drunk?  Both.  Mom claimed she wasn't, but I think she was. Do your parents vote? Mom does, idk about Dad. What’s your favorite thing to eat during a movie? Popcorn. Do you like cherry Pepsi? I like cherry Coke. Would you rather live without your Facebook or Tumblr? Facebook. What Lisa Frank character is your favorite?  Ohhh, the angelic cat. If you inherited a large sum of money what is the first thing you’d buy?  A train ticket. What did you do with your baby teeth when they fell out?  Mom kept them. What is the last thing you took a photograph of?  My snake. <3 Do you have a bookshelf? If so, just one or how many?  It's technically a bookshelf I think, but we store our DVDs there. If you answered yes to the above, are your books ordered in a special way? The DVDs are in alphabetical order. If dinosaurs could be tamed, would you want one as a pet? If they were guaranteed to not attack their owners/be docile and I could care for it appropriately, sure, I'd keep a smaller raptor. What type of souvenir do you usually purchase when on vacation? It's not consistent. If you could choose only one thing from Walmart, what would it be?  Hot fries or Takis, depending on my mood. Would you rather get highlights or dye your whole head?  Dye everything.
iOS VS Android
I recently got an iPhone and with WWDC come and gone I thought I'd reflect on some of the differences between the two devices. Because I've seen a lot of comparisons between the two devices and they always talk about the superficial things that no one really cares about.
Like this phone has a 120 Hz display. This phone has feature X. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But what is it like to use?
Things I Like About The iPhone
In short the iPhone is just nicer than Android. Things are just designed a little better. Things work a little better. Like the bottom navbar. It's a complete joke on Android.
I wrote about it here. On my custom rom all of my complaints have been addressed. But it is a highly tweaked rom so I'm not sure if this applies to the base Android 11.
But still there is a black spot under the navbar in most apps including mine. I haven't figured out how to remove it in Flutter just yet.
Taptic Engine
OMG. The Taptic engine is amazing. And going back to my previous Xiaomi phone; that phone's vibration is complete trash. And apps know the taptic engine is amazing because they'll use it all the time. Android apps will never use vibration. Probably because they know it feels just meh.
Although I think I tried a Samsung phone once and it had similar haptics. Only the flagship. Apparently the A-series still has the garbage haptics that most Android phones have.
This begs the question though: why doesn't the default iOS keyboard support keyboard haptics. Instead you get this terrible tapping sound. What year is this? 2005?
I installed Gboard to try to get around this problem and it has an option for haptic feedback on the keys but it doesn't work that well.
Raise To Wake
This is a pretty neat feature. On an Android phone to wake it you need to press the power button. On an iPhone it just wakes up whenever it senses that you lifted the phone up basically making the power button redundant.
It took a little time getting used to. I'd turn off the phone's screen just for it to wake right up.
So I guess you're supposed to just let the phone's screen time out to turn it off. It's really weird. It's a nice to have but I don't think Apple really thought this one through.
Oh, yeah, you can also wake the device just by tapping on it. Which is cool I guess. Some Android phones let you wake them by double tapping. It's just a single tap here though.
Truetone
I love truetone. It looks so good. Although to be fair you can't really notice it unless you're comparing the iPhone to an Android phone. But then you really notice it.
FaceID
I'm filing this one under the things I like category although I don't really have that strong feelings for FaceID.
Android phones usually have a fingerprint reader. Most of the new phones have an under display one. It's alright but if your finger is wet it won't work which can be annoying.
So FaceID will work with a wet finger. But now you have a new problem. If you're wearing a mask it won't work (although I think they might have fixed that). And if you're not looking a the phone it won't work.
I'm talking about when the phone is on the table and you power it up while it's still lying flat. It won't be able to find you. Not the attention feature which you can disable in settings.
Lack Of Back Button Wasn't A Problem
I thought it would be, I even enabled the back shortcut where you slide from the left. But every time you need to go back there's a context button in the top left. So you really don't need that button anymore.
Things I Don't Like About iOS
So I really think iOS is beautifully made. But it's also flawed. In my short time with iOS I'd have to conclude that ultimately iOS is a beautiful toy. It looks nice but it's not really intended to get any serious work done. So I will not be using it as my primary phone OS. And here's why.
The Notifications Are Terrible
OMG. How do you make notifications this bad? And in 2021 too! I would have thought a mobile OS would have figured this out. But no. Android's notifications were lightyears ahead of Apple's... 5 years ago. Now they're even better and Apple is stuck in the stone age.
OK, where do I begin. Well for starters your notifications only appear until you unlock the phone. Then they go to this weird limbo you can only get to by swiping down from the top left.
Oh, that's another thing I don't like. The quick pull down. I always hated it when some Android roms did it by default and I hate it here too.
Then what's next? How do you close notifications? By swiping? No! That's how you open the notifications. You have to press on the X button. One by one.
And notifications don't work that well either. I think I'm not receiving notifications while I'm using the phone. I'm not exactly sure that's the reason but that would explain why I don't receive a notification for 2 factor code messages.
Too Many Notification Badges
OK, I don't need to know I have over 3000 unread RSS stories. I'll get to them when I have time.
And yeah, sure, you can disable them. But then you have to go through them app by app which is annoying.
No Battery Percent In Status Bar
Now on Android it's more of an afterthought with only one small option which screams that some developer put it in for debugging and no one bothered to take it out. But I still wish it was there.
Some Apps Don't Allow IAP's
I opened the Audible app excited to be able to see the daily deals. Nope. Not on iOS. Sorry.
The Notch
OK, look. My previous phone was a Mi 9T which had a pop up camera and no notch or cutout of any kind so I may be a bit spoiled. But the iPhone's notch is really big and annoying. Not really in portrait. But in landscape games you really notice it.
You sort of learn to live with it, but it's still annoying.
Long Pressing The Power Button Doesn't Turn Off The Phone
This opens Siri instead which maybe I might get used to. But every other phone brings up the power down option when you long press the power button so this is very weird.
Even old iPhones brought up a power down slider when you held down the power button. I mean, it is called a power button y'know.
Square Corners On The Phone
OK, I have a case so this is a non-issue for me. But if you don't have a case it's very difficult to pick up from the table.
Square Corners on a phone are nice, but impractical.
Doesn't Have Android's Rotate Button
Android recently introduced this option that brought up an icon when you rotated the phone while you have rotation lock on. And I really love this feature.
Too bad Apple doesn't have it. How do you rotate the device? Go to the settings and disable rotation lock and then re-enable it again later. Like a barbarian.
Oh, well, at least the rotation animation is prettier than Android's. It seems to be the same animation though. Maybe it's played slower or something.
A Roundtable of Hackers Dissects ‘Mr. Robot’ Season 4 Episode 3: ‘Forbidden’
We asked for more hacks, and Episode 3 of Mr. Robot’s final season delivered. We discussed [SPOILERS, obvs] SS7, breaking and entering, social engineering, multi-factor authentication, and getting into Olivia’s machine. (The chat transcript has been edited for brevity, clarity, and chronology.) This week’s team of experts include:
Emma Best: a former hacker and current journalist and transparency advocate with a specialty in counterintelligence and national security.
Bill Budington: a long-time activist, security trainer, and a Senior Staff Technologist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
Jen Helsby: SecureDrop lead developer at Freedom of the Press Foundation.
Jason Hernandez: Solutions Architect for Bishop Fox, an offensive security firm. He also does research into surveillance technology and has presented work on aerial surveillance.
Harlo Holmes: Director of Digital Security at Freedom of the Press Foundation.
Trammell Hudson: a security researcher who likes to take things apart.
Micah Lee: a technologist with a focus on operational security, source protection, privacy and cryptography, as well as Director of Information Security at The Intercept.
Freddy Martinez: a technologist and public records expert. He serves as a Director for the Chicago-based Lucy Parsons Labs.
Episode Titles
Micah: This season's episode titles are named after HTTP error codes. The first episode is called "401 UNAUTHORIZED", the second is "402 PAYMENT REQUIRED", etc.
Bill: Also documented in cat form.
Micah: And this episode, 403, the HTTP error is forbidden, and the episode had a specific FORBIDDEN theme in it. Mr Robot said, "Every time I talk to Eliot about it, he puts up a wall. Like he's flat out throwing me a FORBIDDEN error. Denying me the chance to even bring it up."
Bill: Are they tracking the episode numbers? is the next one 404? OMG.
Retro IBMs
Yael: Do you guys think it's worth discussing the part of the plot that's essentially about China stealing IP from IBM? This is a big thing even now.
Jason: You can steal or clone a mainframe, but running one reliably without support from IBM is pretty hard…
Yael: Yeah, and in the meeting, it sounds like they were paying them money in this partnership, so I'm not sure what the plan was.
Trammell: On the retro IBM: was there ever a mouse available with that model? Because I’m that sort of nerd, the microsoft Mouse wasn't introduced until 1983. The rounded one that I think is in the photo wasn't until ‘87 or ‘93.
Retro Mouse, Image: USA
Jason: Yeah, it might be an XT (1983) or an IBM Personal Computer from 1981. The exterior looks similar for both models.
Trammell: I'm not 100% certain, but I think that predates the XT and is a 5150, the "original IBM PC." Because that is the sort of minutiae that totally throws away any credibility… IBM PC XT has a label that says “XT.”
Location Tracking
Harlo: The Krysta scene—at the end, we see a dude tailing Elliot, and, unlike the Whiterose gang, he's absolutely wayfinding (tracking a nearby signal) on his device. We see that again later on.
Trammell: Didn't Elliot install a hacked version of Signal that leaks his location?
Micah: He did. Allegedly, it only leaks his location to Darlene though, but who knows what she put in that APK, really.
Harlo: Hmmmmmm. Darlene, you FINK.
Bill: I'm not sure if he installed a hacked version of Signal or he just was using the Signal API.
Harlo: Darlene did force him to install a modified version of Signal that lets her in.
Yael: Well, she took his phone and put it in. He could’ve said no or removed it, but he didn’t.
Bill: You can script signal messages using the Signal API, and he might have just been doing that to notify Darlene of his location.
Freddy: I don’t think this existed in 2016, but I’m not sure.
Harlo: Yo maybe Darlene is working with the drug cartel because she gets a good deal on blow in exchange for Elliot.
Bank Security
Yael: So they're meeting on Christmas and Elliot and Darlene are planning to hack them to…steal the money? I think?
Jason: Yeah, I think that's the plan. Hack them and wire a ton of money out of the Bank of Cyprus.
Yael: Okay, so say this hack works, which it looks like it did, and they drain the money. Does Cyprus National Bank not have fraud protection?
Jason: Usually there's an approval flow with multiple users to initiate a substantial wire.
Harlo: Should be, right???
Jason: Yeah, probably need to hack some more people/social engineer.
Micah: It might be different if you have Olivia's access, though.
Yael: I've had my bank tell me when it thought there were unauthorized transactions or freeze my account because I was traveling, though.
SS7
Yael: When Darlene and Elliot were arguing about who got to do what, Darlene said Elliot was supposed to get the SS7 license; anyone wanna talk about SS7?
Jason: SS7 is a shared network that virtually every cell carrier has access to. Karsten Nohl / srlabs.de is a good technical reference on SS7.
Freddy: SS7 is a signaling system that handles things like when you are in your car and moving but on a phone call. When you switch from one cell tower to another, you need to be able to handle that without dropping the call. That’s what SS7 does. It’s also notoriously insecure and you can use SS7 exploits to take over someone’s phone. It enables you to steal text messages to bypass two-factor authentication.
Jen: And/or track people’s locations.
Harlo: Or to intercept messages, calls, and know which tower a phone is connecting to via its IMEI [unique identifier assigned to mobile devices]. Actually, you don’t even need the IMEI, I think.
Micah: I think all you need is a phone number.
Jen: You also need an SS7 license (or to somehow otherwise get access to the SS7 network) in order to do any of this as an attacker.
Jason: If you can convince carriers that you're a new cell carrier with paperwork, you can get access.
Olivia’s Machine
Yael: But then Elliot is also trying to get into Olivia Cortez's machine. Are these just two approaches for the same thing?
Micah: The SS7 hack and getting into Olivia's machine are two separate things. Elliot needs access to Olivia's machine in order to access the Cyprus National Bank account.
Harlo: So, ultimately, Elliot and Darlene are yak-shaving. Ultimately, they just need to hack the human.
Trammell: I'm a little disappointed that Elliot setup the breaking and entering as some sort of elite thing to leave Darlene at home, but in the end the target had zero special effort required. Darlene has also shown her expertise at social engineering.
Bill: The hack on Olivia's laptop is again a 2015 exploit. Basically, Elliot uses a hook that triggers the sticky key executable (sethc.exe). It is a helper process that is executed when you press the sticky keys combo at the login screen. Only, by replacing sethc.exe with cmd.exe, which is the Windows command line executable, he's able to press the sticky key combo to get shell access.
From there, he is able to reset Olivia's admin password and log in as her from the e-OS login screen. That allows him to steal the Firefox profile, which includes VPN access credentials from her laptop, which he then transfers to an instance of Kali Linux and runs.
He then runs ffpass to extract those credentials into his own Iceweasel (Firefox clone) profile, and gain VPN access. It's only then that he notices he needs the physical OTP module in order to complete authentication.
It looks like from the git history that ffpass didn't exist until 2018. This is the first time I've seen a tool which is newer than the time period, though.
Micah: First, he picks the lock in her drawer and finds her work laptop. Then he needs to reset her password, so he boots into "E Operating System Error Recovery", which is literally exactly the same thing as the "Windows Error Recovery” screen; they just replaced "Windows" with "E Operating System."
Jason: It's kind of amazing that a bank's corporate laptop wouldn't have full disk encryption.
Micah: Actually it might have full disk encryption, but it's Windows. If it uses BitLocker, then the encryption key is stored in the Trusted Platform Module [a dedicated processor used for encryption] and is passwordless, which means this hack could still work even with disk encryption.
Harlo: PSA: you can definitely enable passphrases in BitLocker. You would need to modify your group policy.
Micah: True, but it's not the default behavior, therefore, no one does it.
Jason: That’s terrible.
Harlo: It's a slog because Windows hates you, but it's possible.
Trammell: Bitlocker TPM + PIN seems like the right way to do it, although there is also the recently (end of 2018) discovered issue with self-encrypting disks and BitLocker. BitLocker will trust the SED, which in some cases turns out to not actually use any encryption.
Harlo: It's advisable to ALSO enable software-based encryption in your group policy.
Micah: I also like the rest of the password reset hack, where, from an "open file" dialog in Notepad, Elliot was able to manipulate the filesystem, to rename cmd.exe to something else, to ultimately get a [command line] shell.
Multi-factor Authentication
Yael: When Elliot gets Olivia's machine, he can't get into it because she uses MFA. So if you wear one of your factors on your wrist, do you need a special secure locker for your hookups? Though I guess Dom had a locker and that didn't work for her.
Bill: This reminds me of the scene in Season 1 where Tyrell sleeps with some guy to get access to his cellphone, in order to install some custom malware on it.
Harlo: This part made me really double-think how we normally keep our keys so accessible. How many folks do you know keep their 2FA on their literal keychain? (Raises hand.)
Emma: I may or may not keep my hardware key on a necklace rated to support up to 150 kilos along with a Kali USB key and an encrypted one for all my goodies.
Image: USA
Harlo: But can we talk about the social engineering?
Yael: My favorite part was when Elliot said people held him down and forced him to do heroin.
Trammell: It is interesting how Elliott's social engineering was a tag team with Mr. Robot—they had such different pickup artist techniques.
Harlo: Love to have my dad as wingman. Ghost dad telling me to get it. My dead dad, like "go for it, son."
Yael: Olivia got stood up (sort of) on Christmas and there was Matthew Sweet playing. She didn’t even stand a chance. I guess this hack wasn't all that complicated? Would you agree? Like the password part was more technically difficult and the social engineering was pretty easy. And then poor Cyprus Bank practices, I guess.
Bill: I would say the reverse. Especially for introverts, the social dynamics stuff can be exceedingly difficult. The technical hack just takes time and persistence. The social hack is kind of a one-shot thing.
Yael: I don’t know. I think people are sadly easy to manipulate. Even people who should know better. We are just very trusting, in general.
Trammell: It is interesting how much better his turned out than Darlene/Dom, which ended with Dom delivering possibly the worst curse on Darlene. (Although Olivia doesn't know she's been hacked yet…)
Yael: "Finding" the Oxytocin after he got what he needed was a nice touch. But like she could've caught him with her security key, and didn't. Some of this was luck. Sorry, Elliot. Literally if her date had showed up on time this wouldn't have happened.
Trammell: Yeah, serious plot-armor on the luck between the date not showing up, not getting caught with the token, etc.
Jason: Elliot could have hacked her OkCupid and cancelled the date without her noticing. And done some additional research to improve his odds. A nice shirt also helps. 😉
Harlo: By the way, I told a couple of folks, but I don't mind telling literally everyone: one time I literally burned my whole infrastructure because a handsome man was nice to me at a conference and i was so suspicious that it was an op.
Yael: Haha. I always get suspicious when people want to talk to me instead of me wanting to talk to them.
Harlo: Hack the human.
Trammell: Given the short time frame, I'm also curious why he didn't burn the bridge and make a quick exit with the keyfob (and maybe wallet, etc) to make it look like a more normal theft. As in, the meeting is tomorrow, so they need to execute on the results of the hack RIGHT NOW.
Harlo: It's worth noting that this shows how important multi-factor authentication is! The fact that Elliot had to go as far as he did to gain access to an account even when he already gained someone's password is really, really important for viewers to understand!
Yael: Yesssss all he needs is to break both factors. They had this in the first season, when Elliott had to get Gideon Goddard’s phone for his RSA SecureID pin.
Emma: Elliot sent him a bunch of junk MMS messages to drain the battery and force him to charge it, then hit him with the distraction to get him to leave his office. Both instances though highlight an important point—the biggest threat are the people close to you. Elliot was able to do it to Goddard because they worked in the same office. Elliot had to get close to Olivia to get her fob. Like Harlo said, multi-factor authentication is super important and remote hackers can have to go to extreme lengths to compromise it (although it depends…. phone based MFA is a lot less secure than the fob).
Harlo: Especially when you're dealing with a hacker with an "SS7 license." This is why we go for apps or even better, hardware tokens for 2FA wherever they’re available!
Yael: There's also Tyrell's stalkerware. So, uh, password protect your phone, I guess.
How To Upload Video On Youtube In 3 Easy Ways
Original Post: Click here to read the Original Post
How To Upload Video On Youtube: Good day! Hope you are cool? YouTube is here to stay, the Google empire keeps expanding, statistics show that over 1.5billion videos are streamed via YouTube in a month.
That’s really huge and lest you don’t know, people are making MILLIONS from YouTube. YouTube is not meant for leisure alone it could,
in fact, help shoot your business over the skies by posting videos that educate, review, inform and teach your users and targeted customers.
This tutorial here will be showing you one of the basic things every Youtuber should know, that is how to upload videos on YouTube.
Our post here will teach you three different methods to upload your YouTube videos, this methods cuts across all forms of devices possible including your Mobile and PC device.
You’ll be learning How To Upload Youtube Videos ;
With The Mobile App
With your mobile device
With your PC.
Terms To Note When You Upload Video On YouTube
Below are some terms you may come in contact with when you go on your mission to upload YouTube videos.
This terms cuts across your mobile device, your mobile app, and your PC.
TYPES OF VIDEO UPLOAD
Go Live: This option here is mostly good for those who have massive followers, here your subscribers watch you as you record a live event. The video doesn’t store.
Record: This option is almost similar to “Upload” here you can make a quick record of something and upload it immediately. It makes use of your camera this videos are seldom clear, you can’t edit it or add anything to it. Videos here are rough.
Upload: YouTube doesn’t give an option called “Upload” all it does is show you your most recent videos, in this case, if you have the video you wish to upload stored on your device, you should find it easily.(FOR MOBILE)
YouTube Privacies
Public: When you set your YouTube video to be public you allow the video to be seen and suggested to basically anyone who has access to YouTube. Public videos can be seen in your channel’s section.
Videos that you upload for the purpose of education, call to action, advertise your brand and looking for ways to attract an audience should be set as private.
Unlisted: When you set your video to Unlisted, only people who you shared the link to or who can access the link can watch it. It wouldn’t be visible in your channel video’s section,
therefore, wouldn’t be suggested or discoverable to users. The Unlisted settings work best when you wish to share a particular video to those you deem fit for it.
Private: YouTube videos set to private can be seen by you and the Gmail users you choose to see this video. They don’t show up on your channel and are not discoverable to users.
Scheduled: The name gives it up. A scheduled video is a video that goes from “Private” to “Public” when you upload a video and set it to schedule, you inform YouTube that
“The video shouldn’t be visible until a particular date you choose”. The interesting part of this method is, you could set up series like this.
YouTube Metadata
Description: The name says it all, here you describe the video, I suggest you give a short and concise description, you don’t want your users to know every information in the video before they watch it. That’s bad business 🙄
Tags: Tags are kind of brief summary about your videos, I’ll call them keywords this could burst your video up in search. Assuming you are posting a video about “Annoying Cats” OMG! I really love cats 😉. Your tags will be something like “Cats, Funny, Playful, Pets,” you get huh?
Annotations: This is a kind of edit mostly carried out with your PC, the additional notes, points, pauses, etc while your video is playing.
Video Format YouTube Accepts
YouTube accepts the following formats:
AVI (Audio-Video Interleaved)
3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project)
MOV (QuickTime Movie)
MP4 (Motion Picture Experts Group Part 14)
MPEG or.MPG (Motion Picture Experts Group)
FLV (Adobe Flash)
M4V (h.264)
WMV (Windows Media Video)
WEBM (HTML5) – Source from wikihow
How To Upload Videos On YouTube With The Mobile App
These steps are mainly for Mobile Phones, YouTube has an app that could be used to not only watch videos but also to control your YouTube channel.
Step 1: Locate your YouTube mobile app. Google owns YouTube, Google also owns android os, they seized that opportunity to embeds YouTube to most android devices.
So if you have an android device, there’s an 80% chance that you have a YouTube app already, if you can’t find it then head to the Play store.
iOS users, on the other hand, need to get the app into their devices via their app store. So this step is all about installing or finding the YouTube app.
Step 2: Open the YouTube app and sign in with your Google account. Youtube videos might be free to watch, but only google account users have the liberty of uploading YouTube videos and also to post a comment.
The moment you register for a Google account by opening a mail with google(Gmail) you automatically have a Google account.
YouTube accounts for its users are called channel, if you wish to step up your Vlogging career a notch, you should go check out and I edit your YouTube channel.
Step 3: Above you, YouTube app, at the top right-hand side is a video camera sign “🎥📽️” click on it. You’ll be prompted to accept a few things which you should do.
Step 4: YouTube presents you with three options here; You can either “Go Live” “Record” “Upload”
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Step 5: Once your video is uploaded its time for the description, this entails the video title, a brief description, hashtags and any other metadata you want.
You should also choose if you want the video to be Unlisted, Public or Private.
Step 6: You should now wait for finishing touches, here the metadata you created is being embedded in the video.
I’ll really advise you upload your videos with a Wi-Fi connection cause trust me, it consumes data.
How To Upload Videos To YouTube From Your Mobile Device
You can’t find the mobile app? You came across a video in your gallery and you’ll love the world to see it? You are on track. It is convenient sharing videos to YouTube FROM the app it is also possible sharing videos to YouTube directly from your gallery
Like I advised earlier, I hope your data is enough? Also, you need a Google(Gmail) account to use any Google service.
Step 1: Open the video you wish to upload, i.e view the video with your video player. It is also possible to upload it without watching it, most devices have an option that works like this “Tap and hold the video to bring up a menu”
Step 2: If you decided to watch the video, look for and click the share button, if you didn’t the ‘Tap and Hold’ pattern, look for the share button also.
From iOS 7 and above, your share button should be at the bottom-left corner of your screen. Do you see that box with an arrow going out of the top? That’s it.
For Android users, the share button is visible on your screen, or you press the menu. The idea here is to look for the share button.
Step 3: When you press the share button, your device presents you with a number of apps that have the ability to share digital stuff, navigate too and locate the “YouTube App”.
If your Gmail isn’t locked on to your YouTube account, you’ll be requested to sign in your Gmail account.
Step 4: Fill in your videos PROPER metadata including its title, description, #harshtags, etc. Trust me everything here matters, this section could either make or mar your video.
Step 5: Choose your video’s privacy settings; this was explained up there. The options presented to you are “Private” “Public” “Unlisted” and “Scheduled” this means a lot when you Upload Video On YouTube
Step 6: Press the “Upload” or “Publish” button. Your video size will determine how long it will take to upload.
How To Upload Video On YouTube With Your PC(Mac Os and Windows)
This is the ideal way to upload videos on YouTube reason being that you have the opportunity to customize a lot of things.
Serious Vloggers and Youtubers prefer to use this method, again you should have enough data to do this.
Step 1: I presume you have already edited and gotten your video ready? So what you’ll do here is to move the video to a folder that could be traceable by you easily, I’ll suggest copying the video to your desktop.
Step 2: Open your PC browser and log in to your Google account(Gmail) that is linked with the YouTube channel you wish to use. Visit gmail.com and sign it
Step 3: Type “https://youtube.com” in your address bar.
Step 4: Click on the “Upload” button at the top of your homepage. This can be found at the top right of your desktop screen, close to the search box.
Step 5: YouTube gives a pop up which requires you to choose the video you wish to upload, click on “Select Files To Upload” then navigate through till you get the video file. Drag and drop feature also works here.
Step 6: When you find and choose your video file, uploading will start. If you haven’t verified your account “Via an SMS” you will be limited to 15 minutes videos only.
Step 7: YouTube then takes you to a page where you’ll fill in your metadata this includes your description, your tags, and Annotations.
Step 8: Its Privacy things. Here you get to pick your video’s privacy, do you want it Public? Private? Unlisted? Or do you want to schedule it? Scroll up for more details.
Before the final upload, YouTube gives you the opportunity to either auto-share your video to any of your social pages.
It gives you options to Monetize your videos with AdSense, click the monetization box for more details.
YouTube also allows you to adjust some advanced settings like disable comments, notify your subscribers, transfer or change ownership rights, etc.
YouTube allows you to choose your thumbnail, they give you options to pick from or there do it themselves, it’s better you do it yourself.
Step 9: Click on “Save” and Viola!!! You, My dear friend, have successfully uploaded a YouTube video.
I hope you were able to Upload Video On Youtube?
So you’ve learnt How To Upload Video On Youtube how about you learn how to download videos from youtube?
What It's Really Like to Be a Disney Princess
By Michelle Ruiz (September 9, 2014)
Growing up, I was always the smart girl. I was valedictorian of my high school class, but deep down I always wanted to be an actress. There were no opportunities in the small town where I'm from, until one day, when I was in college and a commercial came on the radio saying, "You could be a Disney princess!"
My best friend had just passed away two weeks before. I was in a really bad place and wanted to drop out of school anyway. I went to the audition in my hometown in flip-flops and gauchos, and I was surrounded by musical theater girls stretching and practicing dance moves. I was completely out of my league. They taught us a cheesy dance — I remember a ballet move that was like holding a beach ball. I was pretty sure I was out because I'm a terrible dancer, but then they called my number. I was shocked.
They sent me to hair and makeup and put a Belle wig on me, then had me read the part from Beauty and the Beast when Belle is talking about her papa. I could imitate her high-pitched voice pretty easily. The casting lady was like, "OMG, that was fantastic!" She didn't even say that I was hired. She just went straight into, "So, typically we order contacts for our girls and make sure your roots are done." I later learned you can't work at Disney if your hair isn't "Disney standard" — part of that was no roots. They handed me a piece of paper and said, "In order to get the relocation package, you have to move to Orlando by the end of the month."
So I dropped out of college and went to Disney World. To start in any character role, you have to go through training for the "fur characters," like Goofy or Mickey. I did Chip and Dale for two weeks — and it was really exhausting. The costumes have no ventilation and you sweat out a ton of water in the Florida sun. There are certain heat indexes that allow for shorter "sets" out in the parks, but some people pass out because it's so hot inside the costumes.
I learned that the fur characters hated the face characters, the princesses and princes who show their real faces, because the face characters make more money. Back at home, I was working at 7-Eleven making $11.25 an hour. At Disney, when I started, it was $7.15 an hour with a face character premium of $2.50 an hour. So, $9.65 an hour — not great, but you go through a whole training where they show you all these mushy movies about Walt Disney and his life just to make you feel like, "OMG, I really love this company!" And the perks are pretty fantastic: 40 percent off at Disney stores, 50 percent off the cruises, 40 percent off food in all the parks and free passes for your friends and family. A lot of people stay for the perks.
I moved on to princess training, which was about a four-day process. I watched Beauty and the Beast with a trainer and spied on girls greeting guests as Belle in the France pavilion of Epcot. I did worksheets about Belle — "Who's her favorite person?" "Maurice!" Ironically, I didn't really like Beauty and the Beast that much as a kid; I thought it was really dark. But watching it a ton for the job, I connected to the song about how Belle wants to get out of her small town and thinks that there's got to be more to life — that's exactly the type of stuff I was writing in my journal. And she's the only princess that really shows that academics are a good thing and there's no reason to be a damsel in distress. I started to really love her.
I got a crash course in Belle makeup from the cosmetics or "cosmo" team, because the princesses have to learn to do their own makeup. They check your makeup and sign off on you before you go out "on set," which is what we called the different locations at the parks. All of the princesses sit in cosmo together getting ready. They ordered brown contacts to change my eyes and a brown wig. Some girls were jealous because I was allowed more freedom with my makeup because I already naturally looked so much like Belle. I realized why it didn't matter that I couldn't dance — everyone just kept saying, "Wow, you look just like the cartoon."
Most of the drama in cosmo happens when someone gets disapproved, or not allowed to go out on set. One girl got disapproved because her arms got too chubby. Another girl had a very bad acne breakout all over her face, and they disapproved her. Then everyone talks about whether she should or shouldn't have been disapproved — it's awkward. Some of the princesses did cleanses to stay fit; a lot the girls were naturally thin. We'd go to the gym after work or do workout videos together during our breaks. The fur characters are running around all day so they can eat crap like funnel cakes. The refrigerator in our break room was literally Lean Cuisines and those sugar-free Jell-Os with 10 calories.
I'd never been popular before; suddenly I was a literal princess. I was Belle for six, sometimes seven, days a week, all day, at Epcot and Magic Kingdom. Kids would line up to take pictures with me, or I'd be part of a parade in a huge, glittering ball gown. It was prestigious to be Belle — she and Cinderella are the two top princesses at Disney.A ton of girls are hired for their roles, and they're stationed at the most locations. Ariel's a good one too, but she isn't in as many locations and neither is Mulan. Pocahontas and Jasmine aren't out very much at all. One of my friends was white, but she's very, very tan, and she does Pocahontas.
It was a lot of fun, but emotionally, it was tolling. You have to smile for an hour straight; you can't drop your smile until you go on break and are behind closed doors because Disney doesn't want any pictures of us not smiling. The first few weeks, my face literally hurt. But I really love kids, and it was amazing to have kids that were really into Belle coming up to me, and I would just make up this elaborate story about waking up that morning and having oatmeal with the Beast.
We couldn't spend too much time playing with the kids though, because we had to greet 172 guests per hour. Disney decided that was the magic number. An attendant would have a clicker to count the number of people we met, and if we went under, we would get a reprimand. If you get four reprimands, you get fired. It sucked to have a really sweet kid that's waited in line for three hours come up all excited and have to say, "OK, let's hurry and take our photo" and shove them out the door. When they left the room where we greeted kids at Toontown, they went straight into a massive princess store. I think Disney felt like, "Well, we want them out of the room and into the princess store to buy some stuff."
The one time that I got really, really angry at work was one of the only days that was actually really cold in Florida — so cold you could see your breath. I had to stand in a doorway welcoming guests into a restaurant at Epcot in a sleeveless formal dress that was supposed to have a coat that came with it. I was freezing and my eyes were watering, but the location managers wouldn't let me go get my coat. When I went on my break to go pull the coat from the costume department, it was gone. I guess they'd hidden it. I started bawling. I had to take pictures with kids in the freezing cold, crying. Later, I was talking to the photographers, and they told me that that restaurant sold the photos of Belle and the guests for, like, $35 — and when Belle was wearing the coat, they sell 30 percent less pictures.
Another tricky thing was the creepy dads who would whisper in my ear when their kids were taking pictures with me. They'd say, "When the Beast goes to bed, I'll be waiting for you in the library." All I could think was, God, I'd hate to be your wife. I couldn't break character, but I would always address it and say something like, "Um, I go to bed when the Beast goes to bed." One of my friends, an Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, her skirt was unzipped and one of the dads stuck his hand in the zipper. Luckily there are petticoats underneath, but he was totally feeling her butt outside of the petticoat.
But amazing stuff happens too. My absolute favorite thing was meeting the Make-A-Wish Foundation kids. Belle would be in her village dress and ride the carousel or have breakfast with kids in their last months of life. They were so excited and amazed, and behind them were parents just falling apart. Their child is dying, but their child that's dying is incredibly happy at that moment. It's a very strange feeling — complete joy mixed with complete heartbreak. Things like that made me happy to be Belle, especially after losing my friend and being so miserable at home.
I met really good friends being a princess. We came from all over the country and had no one, so we all bonded really quickly and really strongly. My best friends were an Aurora and a Cinderella. Underneath Magic Kingdom, there's a really smelly concrete tunnel system — we would walk through the tunnels joking that we were like the three Mean Girls, just Cinderella, Belle, and Aurora marching down the hall.
We weren't finding romance at work, because most of the guys were gay. I don't remember any specific gay romances, but I'm sure there were. Prince Charming might have been hooking up with Prince Eric. My roommates were gay and dancers at Animal Kingdom. We spent many nights hanging out in our apartment watching classic Disney movies like Dumbo together.
They call it the "Disney bubble" — you listen to the soundtracks on your way to work and watch the movies at home. Even when we weren't working, a lot of times we'd just go into the park and watch the fireworks or watch Tinkerbell come down from the castle. Sometimes we would go get drinks at Animal Kingdom. Looking back, I was there for three years and I went to the beach once. Disney just draws you in.
After three years as Belle, I started to feel like I was in limbo. I didn't finish college. I didn't know what I was going to do next in my life. I still wanted to be an actress, and there's no market in Florida. I took a trip to a bigger city for an acting intensive, and my teachers told me I could have a real shot if I moved and started auditioning. I decided to give Disney my three-week notice. I gave them notice but said I still wanted to do a few shifts every year — back then, all you had to do was work five shifts a year to keep the Disney perks.
When I came back to Florida not long after leaving to pick up a few shifts, the casting department called me and said, "We need to speak with you about your role." I went to meet with them and they asked me how things were going with my move and if I planned to stay away for a long time. I said it was going great, and I was excited to be pursuing acting. I didn't realize I was being baited. They had me dress up as Belle, and I came back in and they were like, "We've just been noticing that your mouth is very different than all the other girls." It was the most bizarre thing ever, and it very clearly had nothing to do with my mouth. If my mouth was that big of an issue, they wouldn't have paid for me to move to Florida and be Belle in the first place. It was merely about the fact that I wasn't going to be there working every week, and they didn't want to dole out perks to another person like that. I got canned — and it hurt.
The shelf life of a Disney princess really depends. A lot of girls take themselves out before casting has to. People go on to work in musical theater at local playhouses or be teachers or do princess parties. Some never want to leave; as soon as they get disapproved, they just want to become a princess trainer so they still get to be part of the magic.
There's a little bit of bitterness for the princesses as they get older. I just got back from Florida actually, and seeing all the new girls, it sucks. People used to be that excited to see me, and cry to see me, and now it's these little girls who don't even have as much integrity as we used to have. We used to only speak words that princesses hundreds of years ago would speak. We wouldn't say, "Oh, those are cute shoes," or, "Oh my gosh." Princesses didn't say that. They would say, "Oh my goodness," or, "Oh, how wonderful."
Now that I live in a big city, it's a bit of culture shock. I still smile at everyone, even the guys who catcall me. I probably come across as such a naive idiot, but it's from being at Disney for three years, and being around people that all speak with such pep and optimism and watch Disney movies in their spare time. Smiling all day just makes you believe that everything's fine. It didn't occur to me that I would miss it as much as I do.
Nothing big has happened for me as an actress so far. I'm also working on getting my college degree. Despite some of my issues with Disney, I'm super glad I got to be a princess. I've gone to auditions where people have been like, "I think I have a picture with you as Belle!" It blows people's minds when I tell them. I don't want people to think I'm bragging. I say that I lived in Orlando and then they pry some more and I'm like, "I was Belle," and they're like, "Oh my gosh, that's so cool. And weird." When I tell guys, they think it's really cute.
