This is such a good question, and I wish I had a definitive answer for you… With ladies it’s a bit more complicated than with boys for us; I’ll share my thoughts. 🤔 I hope it makes at least some sense.

I guess our main thing is that we want the bottom of the ship to get stimulated and dominated, and with m/m ships it also ties very deeply with penetration in our minds; this is why it’s so straightforward and uhh uncompromising. Technically, a top could still suck a bottom off, there is absolutely nothing that indicates that this could never be the case in general, but to us personally this is already a shift in their dynamic that we don’t really like most of the times. So if a top!boy goes down on a bottom!boy, even if he does give some stimulation to his penis, he’s mostly going to focus on his butt lol this is why we have a bunch of ass-eaters among those pervs.

Before I start, I must apologize because I feel I can't make them too good at communication without making them OOC.

1 - This happens during the "Come back to Gusu with me." scene. Instead of jumping to the worse conclusion, WWX, who is absolutely exhausted and whose brain is barely working, looks at those beautiful, all concerned, golden eyes, and asks "Why??? Why would you want me to go back to Hosu? With you?" He genuinely doesn't compute. LWJ explains that he wants Wei Ying to come back with him because he is worried for him. Wei Ying looks like he hasn't slept in six months. He might die. WWX is confused as to why someone would care about him but also kinda moved. He thanks LWJ but explains he must go back to Lotus Pond to see his sister. LWJ nods and informs him that he will accompany him there. They go to the Lotus Pond, informs the shijie that WWX is alive and then WWX, still heavily sleep deprived, kinda follows LWJ back to the Lotus Pond, passes out and proceeds to sleep for the next week. LWJ is elevated.

2 - Now, JC might suck at communicating but he knows a sibling stealer when he sees one. He thought his sister was safe after the soup incident but he apparently should have watched out for that awful Lan! He breaks into Gosu, saying that LWJ cannot marry his brother. To everyone's surprise, WWX is "Why not? He is [lists an endless list of of all of LWJ's qualities and why he would make an excellent spouse]." LWJ's ears are fully red while LQR and JC have passed out from sheer rage, which was WWX's plan all along. He informs LWJ that it's time to go hunt Wens again and he leaves, with LWJ running after him.

3 - There is nothing romantic about a war but WWX and LWJ learn to know each other more through it. They are partners in this war, always by each other side. WWX learns that LWJ doesn't hate him and that he was looking for him during his disappearance because he was worried. He calls LWJ his friend. LWJ learns that WWX cares about him. It's even possible that he realizes WWX doesn't have a golden core anymore (and why).

4 - After the war ends, the other clans are looking at the grandmaster of demonic arts and being "Maybe we should... get rid of him?" The Lan elders are not happy about someone using the demonic arts. But the Lan brothers immediately "Oh, we just know you're not about to throw under the bus someone you were all too happy to use against the Wens during the war. Pretty sure it would break a couple of rules." and pretty much tells them that if WWX is punished, they will share his punishment since they helped him during the war and didn't try to stop him. JC, who can't do less than those two Lans, also warn that the Jiang clan will stand by WWX. Which is very good because WWX rescues the remaining Wens the next day. And brings back his friend back to life. LWJ is too in love to be annoyed but JC screams so much that he loses his voice for a week.

5 - However, since WWX keeps being WWX and playing with dark forces, someone breaks it to him that it would be better if he forged a powerful alliance with a clan. Now that I think about it, it's Wen Qing, so there is a moment of confusion where WWX thinks WQ wants him to play matchmaker for her and JC (he was really enthusiastic about it). WQ had to spell out that he should marry LWJ. WWX is shocked. LWJ obviously deserves to marry someone wonderful and shouldn't be shackled to someone like him. LWJ appears (was he actually near them or did he teleport after sensing someone talking about WWX's marriage? Your guess is as good as mine.) and he informs WWX that if he's not opposed to it, this is actually an excellent idea. WWX is not opposed to it. WWX is under the impression LWJ is doing that to keep the peace. It's okay, though, he will soothe LWJ's sacrifice by being the best cultivation partner he can.

+ 1 - Cue a very ridiculous fake marriage for WWX and LWJ trying to pull a Fake Wedding to Lovers AU. Since it's pre timeskip LWJ, he fails but it's okay, WWX is the first one to kiss him.

Hi Dash! I hope you're doing well. I'm writing this ask literally 1 hour before I need to leave for one of my sem finals (which I'll be fine at hopefully, since I studied). But while I was anxiously awaiting purgatory, I read one of my favourite of your works again - Monoma's route in Soulmate Trope. Istg I am not exaggerating, no writing has made me laugh harder than that single scene where he just... wordlessly pulled down his pants. I laughed so hard that my roommate had to come check on me. And the word "cum gutter" had dealt irreversible psychic damage to my brain. Sometimes while doing some mundane stuff, I think back about that scene, or countless other scenes from the book and had to remind myself I'm in public. I've only watched MHA up till season 3 and a bit into 4 but I was kinda already spoiled about the ending, so I'm so in love with the world you build there. I've always kinda wanted to try writing my own work because I sometimes have a budding idea that had me go, 'oh I think that'd make an interesting story', but then I realised I suck at writing. Writing just 1000 words took me an hour or more, I don't know how you wrote 60k words for 1 chapter!! That's absolutely insane. Also also, because your writing is so hilarious, when you get emotional, it hits so hard. "and i've gotta crow" is absolutely one of my all time favourite fan work, though idk what the title means. My writing, just after the first few paragraphs, feels like sandpaper to read. But your work really inspired me to want to at least try, even if I don't post anything. Especially after my finals, I'm going to try shitting this one idea out of my head in the summer (oh I'm in Australia so my summer is almost here). So yeah thank you for making me laughed so hard and also fingerbanged my heart. If you have nothing better to do, would you mind sharing your general writing process with me? As in, is there a forbidden jutsu move that amazing authors use when writing? For me, I feel like I'm typing and deleting and retyping until it forms a coherent sentence, but after putting them together it's dryer than my chicken breast that I forgot for 30 minutes in the oven. writing discussion/advice/process under the cut

okay, who told you you suck at writing? and why do they think so??? odds are you don't. odds are, you're overthinking your own work too much. when i look at stuff i've written, i see the writing process in every sentence, and odds are, you might, too. seeing the process takes away parts of being able to immerse yourself in the writing. so, your stuff probably isn't bad; it's just that you know all about how it was made!!!

writing takes me a long time! mostly bc i have academic/work writing to do all the time, so writing fic as my breaks from work isn't always efficient and fun. and i'm pretty sure some people may get frustrated with me for taking so long to update, but that's just how my life is rn. it's ultimately perfectly fine if you take a long time, though, because this is a hobby. we're not getting paid for this. we're providing art for free.

anyway......my process.....hmm. well. step one is to be haunted by visions.

step one is actually to think about that first idea you have to spark the fic. doesn't matter if it's in the middle or end, or anything. and you want to consider what kind of people would get in this situation (helps define what kind of character reader will be) and what could possibly lead up to it. it's okay if it seems like a bunch of disjointed ideas at first.

i am a big outliner, but i always allow seredipity during the writing process. as in, if something starts happening that's cool that i didn't plan, i'm cool with it, so long as it makes sense for the characters.

so, if i start a fic, i will start with an outline that's just a list of things i want to happen in the fic. sometimes it's specific events, and sometimes, it's something like "and they get romantically closer here through some tragic accident." put those events in an order that makes sense for the emotional progression of your characters.

i also keep running lists of hot lines of dialogue that i come up with, sexy outfits to put people in, sexy gestures, domestic things that would ruin me, or other fic-specific lists--like for tenko's soulmate route, i kept a running list of weird facts that reader could bring up. not many ended up going in the fic, but still.

not all of this happened!! and more scenes got way fleshed out!!! i plan for Large Events and Emotional Resonance, but i am open to strange directions that just happen while writing the scene itself, so long as i get to where i need to go eventually. like.....the only one bed stuff on the undercover mission never happened, because suddenly, the club scene got super detailed, and aizawa would probably be too exhausted to spend the proper time having the argument, let alone sex, with reader that night.

but basically, i always want to know where i'll end up, even if i don't know how i'm going to get there. because the process of the characters getting there is where fun, detailed, character work happens. bc if your characters are distinct enough, they'll drive the story more than whatever plot you have.

i'm not every writer ever (obviously), so i know that more thorough outlining or not planning at all works better for other people!!! maybe try experimenting with completely planning and completely pantsing some shorter stories to see what works better for you.

i don't have a daily routine for writing bc i am Busy All the Time, but i carry a notebook in my purse if i am struck with visions, and when i type on my computer, i usually turn on an ambient mix from ambient.mix.com to block out other stuff. usually, i can find an ambience to fit the mood of the scene i'm writing, too lol, which doesn't necessary help but makes things more fun.

i honestly think i spend more time daydreaming about the story than writing it?? i am a big advocate for daydreaming. it's important that you spend time thinking about everything that could go wrong, bc it often makes for a better story if it's fucked up, somehow. idk it may also be bc of work that i'm away from a computer so often. i like writing in the notebook by hand bc it's less pressure to make it "good," and so i can edit as i type it in a word doc later.

and editing is, of course a huge part of the writing process!!! i would say it'd be weirder to write a sentence just right the first time, as opposed to deleting and rephrasing repeatedly! you're doing just fine!

but i wouldn't say there's any secret besides doing it a lot!!!! i know i'm not a great writer, but i know i'm okay, and that's the result of working and practising it for about two decades now. i just have practise, read a lot, and spend a lot of time, academically, discussing written stories.

so!!! if you're feeling like your stuff isn't as good as you want it to be, you just need to start allowing yourself to suck!!! nothing is perfect the first time!!! and eventually, you can edit your sucky stuff into stuff that's compelling.

sorry if you've already answered this, but i really love your art (i LOVE your art!!!) and i was wondering what digital art tools you use/would recommend for someone relatively new to digital illustration (as far as program and/or tablet).

i've had the opportunity to borrow an ipad and a wacom tablet (one with a screen and one without) a few times, and others have told me the main difference is wacom tablets are sometimes(?) used in more "professional"/"company" artwork but ipads are more convenient to some people bc you don't have to be connected to a computer.

i also know the drawing program you use with the tablet is a factor, if you have any advice on this.

sorry this ask is so long -- i'm torn on the decision and thought i should ask some artists i really admire what they use :) i really appreciate any advice you can give me -- and again, thanks for sharing such beautiful art!

i think i have answered something like that before but i can't find it.

there's no such thing as more professional when it comes to tablets or ipads. i know a lot of professional artists prefer ipads, so it's really about preference.

if you prefer ipads you don't have to limit yourself to apple. i use a tab s6 lite ( i will never shut up about it), it's way cheaper in general and support most art apps except for procreate bc they're ios exclusive (which sucks fuck procreate). xp-pen have something similar to an ipad too, it's the magic drawing pad (stupid name) and it's closer in price to samsung (i never used this one so idk if it's better than samsung).

as for tablets they're usually immensely cheaper and xp-pen even have one you can connect to your phone so you don't even need a computer or laptop anymore. so if you're a beginner and don't wanna invest too much money and just test the waters i highly recommend a tablet, xp-pen tablet deco mini 7 is like 30usd i'm not joking. their display tablets are also cheaper than most companies (maybe not huion but idk), i use the xp-pen artist 12 pro on my laptop

as for apps and softwares... you don't have to pay for shit. there's a lot of free options (i use sketchbook pro on my tab s6), and you can also find pirated versions of photoshop and paint tool sai (which is what i use on my xppen). krita is free too.

TLDR: samsung tab s6 or xp-pen tablet deco mini 7. krita, sketchbook pro and pirated paint tool sai

@fucking-leave-me-alone-pornbots requested my thoughts on AA5 so uh. Hough. Here we go. Under the cut bc it’s Long. Also disclaimer I am writing this completely off the cuff so don't put too much stock in it. I didn't edit nor think that hard about it

After flip-flopping on my dual destinies opinions for the entirety of my playthrough I have come to the conclusion that it is a very good game that collapses under the dead weight of its predecessors. It's so dedicated to carrying around the corpse of the games that came before it that the moments it has to itself are few and far between and the entire game is worse for it. I still like it tho :)

So off the bat I'm gonna admit I'm actually a big fan of the 3D. It took me a while to warm up to it in the same way it took me a while to adjust to the more smooth sprites of AA4, but ultimately I think it's just an artstyle and one that was used well. All of the characters designed for these games fit effortlessly into the models, often capitalizing on the new tech and having expressions and animations that wouldn't work in 2D. We get fresh concepts for designs, breakdowns, and animations and honestly I think the artists have a really good understanding of how to use 3D to their advantage to do things that would look Bad in 2D. Uuuuuunfortunatley this goes both ways, and everyone dredged from the 2D abyss looks like a complete dumpster fire. Phoenix, Apollo, and ESPECIALLY Edgeworth look so fucking ugly to me in 3D. Smth smth that is not my beautiful wife etc

As for the gameplay, I actually really like the mood matrix. The dialogue is cheesy as sin and does provide the unintentional comedy of everyone being fine with mid-court therapy sessions run by 18 year olds, but sure, whatever, this is Ace Attorney. I love asking serial killers why they're sad. The mood matrix also looks insanely cool and I love the shift to a more storybook artstyle when it's used. That being said though, I think it could have been utilized a bit better / more frequently-- and that perceive / the psyche locks should have been removed entirely. I understand they were going for the "hear no evil see no evil speak no evil" thing, but Perceive and Psyche-Locks show up like once each and that's it and it feels out of place. Honestly just another example of earlier games stealing spotlight that the new content desperately needed (we will get to that). But honestly, all of this ties back into my biggest issue with the game which is that it walks in the limbo between direct sequel and soft reboot so that it manages to bungle the landing for Both, which sucks. This issue hits the gameplay, the writing, and the art direction and it bums me out big time

I have changed my opinion on the writing probably a dozen times at this point, originally hating it at the beginning of the game for being so far divorced from AA4, then loving it when I stopped thinking of it in comparison to the other games, then hating it again when I got to the finale. Now I'm just mixed on it, mostly because I've started to be able to pinpoint exactly where the problem is. Everything new is fantastic. Athena's ability? Great. Athena's banter? Great. Athena? Great. Simon is hilarious and adds a fun prosecutor / defense dynamic (which I will get to in more detail later), Fulbright managed to grow on me by the end of the game (lol. lmfao, even.), and the prosecution/defense shared backstory brought back all the drama and intrigue I loved about Turnabout Goodbyes. In terms of the new, more original content, I think they really nailed it-- with the exception of having absolutely zero subtlety whatsoever with the themes, which were also really fucking stupid but whatever. I think this image just about sums it up

The entire premise of the dark age of the law being tied to two specific events when we have had 4 villains in a row be part of that metaphorical dark age before it was supposed to happen is like. Insane? It's insane. There's no reason for that particular point to be pushed so hard or made this explicit when previous games did just fine with them. However I don't actually judge this That harshly because other games in the series are also ham-fisted as hell with specific morals and lessons, especially in the final trials (I am looking at you JFA.). This one was especially annoying, but not the only one I personally found lackluster. Even the gameplay this time around was a little less vague (the characters outright tell you where to investigate, what to present, and who to talk to at times) but it's not something game breaking for me. It's slightly worse than other games, but it's far from egregious. it's, as Mr. Justice would say, Fine.

However speaking of Justice and being fine, his writing was decidedly Not Fine. Clay has got to be the worst example of telling rather than showing I have ever seen, and is one in a Very Long List of issues I have with the writing of this game. A lot of Dual Destinies feels like it was made for reveals, with all the legwork and lead-up coming as a bit of an afterthought. It's especially painful to see in Case 3, which feels like a series of loosely connected Mini-Reveals without much interesting progression to connect them. Robin is revealed to be a girl, but that reveal is used in a way that makes Zero Sense and then deemed irrelevant before that trial day is even over. So many decisions in DD feel this way, where characters act in ways that don't feel true to their characters to service a reveal that oftentimes doesn't even matter to the final trial. The sense of cohesion is just Not There, and so much of the cases feel like they're there for the shock factor and not in service of any kind of narrative. I felt myself going through cases wondering why the first half or third or 3/4 felt like a waste of time, like the trial could-- and should-- have been wrapped up in 15 minutes of gameplay instead of spinning its wheels. Luckily Blackquill carries that game on his broad, emo shoulders so even if the writing infuriates me, the character dynamics and voices manage to keep things entertaining

I am not going to talk at length about the issues I have with Apollo's characterization because we would be here all day and also I would make myself angry. Also Phoenix should barely be in this game. this sums up my thoughts nicely

I think a good example of the issues I have with the previous games preventing this game from reaching its potential can be summed up pretty well by the interactions of the prosecution and defense. While I adore Apollo (he's my favorite aa character) I also understand people's hesitation with him as a protagonist because he is, in a vacuum, very similar to Phoenix in a lot of ways. Athena, my beloved, does not have this problem. She is EXTREMELY distinct from every other defense attorney we've seen and it gives her incredible banter with every prosecutor she comes across which feels extremely distinct from Phoenix. She has a really unique way of engaging with the process of Being A Defense Attorney that really separates her from other characters and I think that makes her trials shine. Apollo, meanwhile, doesn't always make himself stand out from Phoenix when they're dealing with specific prosecutors. I think Klavier carries a LOT of AA4 because of his incredibly unique approach to prosecuting in the same way that Athena does for defense. The friendliness and dynamic between him and the defense attorney is totally unique, it's a complete shakeup of the formula, and it brings out aspects of Apollo that make him lovable and distinct. DD takes him away from that lifeline and as a result he ends up becoming a little muddled with Phoenix in certain cases. Meanwhile, the new and unique dynamic we DO get with Athena doesn't reach its full potential because they barely let her do anything. As much as I adore Apollo and wish he got another game before DD to properly expand on everything from AA4, I think his role in DD should have been drastically different than it was because he does Not Work in this formula as well as he should. Apollo and Phoenix take up far too much space in this game that Athena and Simon desperately needed

I might throw more stuff in the reblog if I think of it / decide I want to ramble about case 5 (because I could ramble a Lot about case 5) but honestly? Love DD a lot, love the designs, love the banter, LOVE the new characters, I just think the best parts of the game don't have their chance to shine because Some People (glances at Apollo and Phoenix) show up just a bit too often. Worst part of this game tho? Simon doesn't get confetti. Seven years in prison and they can't even give him confetti. For Shame.

in canon — i think eren harbors a lot of self loathing and when him and mikasa go to the cabin, he finds it really hard to believe that she truly forgives him for all of his transgressions, so it's hard for him to accept that a lot of it is real (kind of makes me think of the real/not real thing in thg but in a different way - everlark is so engraved into me lol) so he's just a big weepy sap lol

in a modern au — he's probably a music lover, he makes playlists a lot and makes them for everything. i bet he makes mikasa playlists all the time too

i wouldn't say i hate annie, but at one point i used to lowkey be an annie hater LOL (now i actually love annie), so i guess in s1, i really enjoy eren and annie's dynamic (prior to the ft arc), especially bc you can see how much eren clearly admires her. i think it's funny how even tho she clearly beats his ass he still wants to learn from her, i think thats kind of noble of him tbh! also i think bc he admired her sm and considered her a friend it sucks to see him so hurt by the reveal of her betrayal

favorite — i love writing eren's dynamic with carla, i think it's really special bc of what happened in canon. i imagine eren as such a mama's boy (in an endearing way) so it's so sweet to get to write their bond and imagine how that dynamic would be as eren would've grown up

least favorite — i think in a canon universe, i don't like writing some of the more sad scenes, like in the ema au, when i think about eren harboring all the pain of the memories to himself, it literally makes me so sad LOL like im genuinely such a fucking sap so i just cry and cry bc i hate thinking about it 😭

hiiiiii i was catching up and saw the Soldedad drawing you posted a little while ago and 🥺 so so excited to have more magi scura lore if you're up for it !!

what are retainers, is the name from a power / object they'd have or a function ? would they hunt down Sol because of their use of magic, their potential crimes, or because of something linked to the scorch maybe ? are Cyril and Lucius retainers ? (based mostly on their "bad guy" status elknr but also because Cyril studies arcane magic... possibly scorch related ?)

reading back a little i realised Odette has the same markings on her hands as Agnis, is she also affected by the scorch ? what does it do ? Corvid is the only one wearing full gloves from what i can find, is he hiding scorched hands, did he die from it ?

if i could read correctly the letter is from Junipero, did he leave it somewhere only Sol would find because he trusts they're not dead ? does that mean he wasn't implicated in the incident and potential death cause, or is he on the run ? (is he ok ? u_u i hope so)

i’m unapologetically using this post to dump some worldbuilding content and some redesigns for a couple of characters (cough cough odie) plus i get to share some june & sol tidbits which… i love them… i think of them always,, they are my pride and joy honestly 

as i wrote this i realised that i’ve barely touched on how the magic system works,, so as a brief preface for this post all you guys need to know is that

magic and magic use are extremely taboo in this world. the laws surrounding magic use are… extremely convoluted and ever-changing, but being an open magic user in this world is an experience, leading most magic users to go out of their way to hide away their abilities. 

 while it is most common for mages to be born with their powers,, people born powerless can strike a deal with one of the world’s gods to gain certain abilities. this is incredibly rare, though, as seen above, most people born without powers would really like to remain that way. only six known people in the main story have made one of these deals. Those who have succeeded in making these deals are known as ‘patrons’. 

oh! and it’s theorised in-universe that every mage is descended from a patron in one way or another. people have been making these deals for thousands of years so at this point, being born with or without magic is left entirely up to chance. how exactly this inheritance works is still heavily debated, and some of the more controversial scholars (ie cyril) dedicated years of research to figuring out the origins of magic, to little success. 

now onto the questions!! art + lore below <3

what are retainers?

retainers are essentially a large and elite group of soldiers in this story’s world, hailing from the nation’s capital. as the story progresses they gain more and more power and influence to the point where, at the point in the story when this piece would take place, they could be considered the main enforcers of the law. which… guys. they suck. needless to say they are the worst, and one of the main groups of antagonists. 

i specifically named this group “the retainers” because of the group’s almost pathological collective desire to keep possession of their own power and influence. opinions on these guys in-universe are… very different depending on who you ask. if you were to ask sol their opinion on the retainers their blood would boil on instinct. needless to say they aren’t a fan, and hell, i wouldn’t be either! 

would they hunt down sol because of their use of magic? their potential crimes?

both! they do NOT like sol!!! partly due to sol’s status as a social contrarian and open magic user, and partly because their continuous survival makes a complete mockery of the group’s authority. sol has been in trouble with the law since they were a young teen, although they didn’t get mixed up with the retainers until falling in with the corviday gang. regardless, by the climax of the story the retainers are desperate to finally capture them and put an end to the chase, but no such luck. believe me though, sol’s name is on file somewhere in the capital and their face is plastered onto many a town’s notice boards and lamp-posts. not to mention the massive bounty on their head, or the ‘wanted dead or alive’ disclaimer written in bold on each and every poster… they’ll be fine. totes. i could talk about bounty culture in this world forever but i’ll spare you for the moment!!

so, about sol’s magic… remember earlier i mentioned those patron guys? and how in the modern main timeline there are only six? …yeah, sol is one of them. to go on about sol’s godly sponsor would extend this post even further so all i’ll say is that (on brand) they managed to strike a deal with this world’s god of the sun & the hearth, which was a whole thing since their late family worshipped that god (something something ‘sol reconnecting to and embracing the past they tried to bury after returning to their chosen family and realising they don’t have to be alone anymore’) but i digress anyways!!!! (i love sol) (i think of them constantly) anyways!! though!!! 

at this point in the story magic is not technically illegal, but using any magic abilities to attack capital officials and retainers very much is. which… sol totally did that. they did that, with several witnesses, out of necessity mind you, but this already biased military only used the incident to further turn the public against them. 

are cyril and lucius retainers?

the short answer is no for cyril and (technically) yes for luci!!

cyril is an elite academic scholar who works closely with high ranking officials in the capital city, which means he comes into contact with the retainers’ commanding officers often. their jobs do not overlap much though, since cyril is moreso focused on well, academics as opposed to the more hands on tasks that the retainers are subject to. 

as a side note, you’re right about cyril having some connection to the scorch! he isn’t afflicted with it, don’t worry, he’s collaborating with the chief alchemist and the city’s doctors to investigate both a cause for the disease as well as possible treatments & cures. 

luci, however, is both a high-ranking city official and the adoptive son of the big bad™. So he has quite the influence over the officers, should he choose to use it. although technically a retainer on paper, he often is only assigned to smaller, covert missions, the mortality rate of which is honestly impressive. rumours abound when it comes to luci, some soldiers claim he posesses a rare and deadly kind of magic. 

odette & agnis’ hands?

funny story actually! odie’s hands have since been un-blackened and her ears un-lynxed. I decided against lynx people being a thing in this story i’m afraid,, nowadays her hands are just permanently stained with either charcoal or paint from her various projects! not scorched (good for her!!) (cyril nags her constantly about ‘just buying gloves! it isn’t that hard!’ but odie refuses to suffocate her hands like that.)

corvid, luckily, isn’t scorched either! he’s fighting fit, he dies from just… good old fashioned murder, poor guy :( 

as for agnis, though… i think it’s time i talked about the scorch a little bit. 

so the scorch is sort of a big long love letter to various bits of zombie media that i was obsessed with as a kid, coupled with the sharp teeth and bloodlust of vampires, with the treelike markings of a being that is intrinsically linked with nature itself. how? hmmm… we shall see. 

rumour has it that the scorch first originated centuries ago deep underground, miners accidentally disturbing a strange root system deep beneath the earth. it’s a disease that is highly unpredictable, capable of turning anybody into an unrecognisable and feral monster. 

the disease is spread through the bite of a turned scorched one, patients, after turning, are afflicted with the uncontrollable urge to attack and maul those unaffected. those who survive such attacks have about a one in ten chance of turning. some recover, albeit scarred, and others succumb later to the poisonous effects of the bite. unfortunately the third option is the most common.. as the years passed, the problem persisted until it reached the capital, then and only then did research begin in earnest. 

the disease normally spreads slowly, once again the speed of the disease’s progression once a person is turned seems to be, well, random. some lose all control in mere weeks, others, like agnis, get years.

the research on the condition is still in its early stages, although the retainers and their employers seem to be very interested in just how this ancient affliction works. that doesn’t bode well. 

junipero’s letter?

you read correctly, the letter is from him! you’ve hit the nail right on the head i fear,,, i couldn’t have said it better myself! They did leave the letter for sol to find,, and in the letter is a gentle reminder that junipero has faith in sol’s ability to not get themself killed, and reassurance that he isn’t worried. 

the incident that leads to sol’s Extra Wanted status happens pretty much right after they get their new powers, they are confronted by, well, the head retainer. their boss, if you will. his name is tempest. and a group of his men. he does this for reasons honestly unrelated to anything sol actually did, tempest has unfinished business and the person he is looking for, corvid, has been dead for like two years at that point. the encounter goes south quickly and sol escapes after injuring some of their attackers and lays low for a couple weeks. this whole encounter makes sol’s life quite a bit harder for a loooong while, considering they end up having to work with tempest’s wife later on but that’s another story for another day. at this point in the plot, doing what sol did is practically a death sentence, and if they weren’t in danger before they definitely are now. 

one thing i want to mention, though, is that june was sort of implicated in sol’s ‘cause of death’ since the retainer ambush & sol’s fake death are two different events, one of which (the fake death) happening before the story starts and the other (retainer attack) happening closer to the end of the story. 

the absolute shortest retelling of sol (& june’s) false death is that they (and also pandora) kind of destroyed a dam, caused a fair bit of damage in an attempt to flee a crime scene and the public, after hearing about that whole debacle, accepted that the two probably drowned together. needless to say the retainers get the shock of their lives when they get word that nope, sol still isn’t dead yet. this isn’t the last time they ‘die’ in this story either, but i’m getting way ahead of myself.and that story is how june winds up on the retainers’ radar, not for his work as a literal hitman, but for being in the area when pandora broke a dam. he didn’t even break the thing! he was just an accomplice. injustice, honestly.

speaking of june!! sol and june have been through a lot together, this isn’t their first brush with death, alarmingly enough. and although the two weren’t together when sol was confronted by the retainers, these two have experience escaping dangerous situations and he knows, in his bones, that sol is fine. that they have to be fine. sol returns to june (also the protags) shortly after the piece and they get to reunite again and all is well (briefly)! give them a break, i say, like i’m not the writer.

a final cliffhangy note is that… june is on the run, but not just from the retainers.

aand that’s it!!! the dystopian aspects of mgsc really jumped out this time,, i think it goes without saying this story can get DARK. thank you for the kind words at the end there, that my work evokes anything at all is all i could hope for hehe! i’m so glad people like sol & junipero,,, i love them so so much i can’t even find a proper english phrase to describe it.

I’m not too good at describing myself, but I’ll do my best 😭 I’m kinda bad with zodiac stuff but I’m a Capricorn (whatever that means) which is fun since I don’t share that sign with any of them I think lol

Personality wise I’m a very loud person, I have terrible volume control, and I tend to be very cheery!! Think glitter and sparkles and rainbows personified basically. However because god hates me I’m also really awkward and terrible at social interaction so I sorta just end up making a fool out of myself a lot 😭😭😭 I don’t really go out much or have a lot of irl friends so it’s a STRUGGLE and I’m constantly worried that people think I’m weird or come across as like, creepy idk, it kinda sucks cause I do love to talk to people but I can’t help that I’m bad at it!!!!!!

also, fun fact: i'm actually a polyglot, languages are sort of my natural talent but i haven't been learning any new language for quite some time because i've been really busy dealing with random stuff that comes up my way all the time (thank you mercury and venus retrograde), i'm a native english, italian and russian speaker (i might elaborate more about this on my introduction post) but i also speak spanish, french, portuguese and a bit of swedish and japanese and latin (dead language but i simply love it). my hobbies beside tarot include a terrible hunger for knowledge, scaring those around me with said knowledge and rewatching my favorite shows over and over again (specifically hannibal and succession <3). i'm a huge fan of psychology, medicine (related to mostly psychiatry and dermatology), astrology (ofc), drawing, art history, reading and beauty related stuff! i actually got certified as a makeup artist at 15 and i won some silly competitions so here's that, my love for makeup and skincare knows NO bounds.

eh whenever I play therapist to my friends i always end back up saying something like "it sucks ass, it's fucked that it's happening, but stop biting back you're just gonna make everything suck even more" which is like. not necessarily always very comforting or empathetic, and sometimes inefficient bc emotions need to get out, but like. idk. Avoid, circumvent, check out, etc. Deflect, distract, find other stuff, etc. Wallow, exorcise, bitch about it, etc. i try to practice it too. You can really alienate people by letting your feelings out ON them instead of in their presence and with their support.

I think I often don't take enough care of properly splitting and connecting clauses and sentences together. I can end up following my mental image and not describing crucial in-between frames that clear up events and allow for a smooth reading that doesn't leave the reader confused.

I'm very much a one-shot short form writer, by taste as much as lack of ability to write further, and it's in part because I leave a lot of warranted descriptions and explorations of concepts on the cutting room floor because it's challenging, long, and difficult to sequence and put into words. There's lots of themes that would warrant more exploration in my writing, that would need to be played out simultaneously with plot events, that would need to follow some kind of frame at least, and I forego building this skeleton so my fanfics are thinner than the theme could be.

Also, the crucial problem in everything I do, I know I won't go back to it so I do it LITERALLY one-shot. I tend to edit as I write and correct my formulations on the go A LOT, I don't force myself to that's just how I think whenever I write literally anything even simple as a post-it note, even though I know for creative writing it's bad practice. I'm also (related to that or not) deeply bored by and out of practice with editing and proofreading, so even when I force myself to I can't seem to focus on it and I catch nothing. It's easier to go back a few weeks or a few months later, rereading to refresh my memory and suck my own dick (or be horrified at what the hell i must've been thinking to write this bullshit), and then realize I left abominable errors and typos in important paragraphs.

This is not the full paragraph, as I'm trying to write in proper french formatting and thus without dialogues those paragraphs as chunky as all hell. I started writing today with "de son cher ami" (yeah i had left that sentence hanging, i was clean out of ideas okay). YES omg okay so I can’t talk too much about things because spoilers but i can talk some (...a lot apparently) about it for sure :3 

so the premise of the game is that you are the new “godp.oke” which means you’re the human that goes around delivering messages for the gods with your handy-dandy “megapon” (a megaphone that sucks up dialogue and spits it back out at ppl). the megapon and nodding/shaking your head are the two ways of communicating w characters in the game! you have to go around solving mysteries before the apocalyptic rift opens up and ends the world - the rift opens every 33 years and the gods close it before it opens too much (and have the chance to appoint a human to become a new god in the process), but this year the gods seem to be in disarray after King, the previous godp.oke, sent all the gods nasty letters and ditched the job - and the rift is only opening wider and wider… it’s up to you and Ins.pek.ta and his biz.zyboys to solve the mystery and save the day!

(actually in reality, you’re on vacation LOL and the megapon falls from the sky and lands in your hands, so you’ve been thrust into the role somewhat unwillingly ^^;; BUT THAT’S NEITHER HERE NOR THERE)

IT’S SUCH A FUN GAME. if you like story games and interesting characters, it is definitely worth a play (shaking everyone by the shoulders PLEASE PLAY THIS GAME)!! the art is fun, the characters are AWESOME, and the character dynamics are fascinating…. I love it all so much :D during both of the friend playthroughs I’ve been following along with, I couldn’t stop saying “oh i love this character” to … almost every single character that showed up HFDSJKL, they’re all just so charming and interesting and well-designed both visually and in terms of personality/quirks/etc …. I LOVE THIS GAAAAMEEEEE.

it took me about eight hours to play through, and I was going fairly slowly because I wanted to explore a lot of dialogue options! not a long game by any means!!

I’ve been exploring about a 50/50 balance of pre-game/in-game timeline and post-game timeline for my ship :3 I cannot talk about post-game because I fear it would spoil things LOL, so I’ve only been letting myself share pre/in-game timeline stuff!! I’ll start sharing post-game stuff on or after valentines day though, I’ve decided! I cannot keep my mouth shut forever FHDSGJKL

so my ship is my self-insert (Junebug… again) and Ins.pek.ta (and uhmm maybe there’s some characters in the mix too idk yet dsfjkl this game is… so good. so good. i love these characters so much. i just haven’t decided on the “canon” of my ship yet LOL). I think what happened is that Junebug saw the biz.zyboys pre-game but never worked up the courage to join, and then they ended up in Buz.zhuzz for art reasons (they tried going to Hob.byhoo but got too anxious LOL) and met up with the biz.zyboys pre-game when they’d been gathering for the Rift parties that were going to take place (before everything went to shit). They made fast friends with P and Gr (it’s hard to not make friends with P honestly), and remain kind of nervous around the rest of the biz.zyboys. P ofc invites them to join the biz.zyboys and Junebug thinks about it but before they can really come to any sort of decision then everything goes to shit and they don’t really get a chance to make a decision. 

beforeeee everything goes to hell though, Ins.pek.ta meets Junebug (I am diverting from canon a little bit bc I don’t think Ins.pek.ta actually interacts w the biz.zyboys much fdsjkl) when Junebug is being introduced to the rest of the biz.zyboys, and they’re like. terrified of him LMAO. P has hyped up S.pek so much that this is the most nerve-wracking experience of their LIFE for them. and then there’s a lot of shenanigans and everything yayyy and feelings develop and they start actually interacting romantically juuust before everything goes to shit and then the Rift stuff happens oops but post-game has more stuff BUT I CAN’T TALK ABOUT IT BECAUSE. SPOILERS. 

anyways the pre/in-game ship is mostly a lot of S.pek trying to be so niceys and get on my good side and me being so so so scared (accurate to life tbh) and eventually i warm up to him and just. a lot of fun and silly shenanigans tbh. this worldbuild is so fun and it's got so much to play around in dsfjkl I am having the time of my life messing with building of this ship honestly !!!
