dr stone is so funny bc its literally giving the most traumatised people on earth the chance to rebuild the world and what do you know it, they choose eugenics and tyranny (aka nearly all antagonists). the only downside to the series (which also happens to be a hilarious upside) is that we dont know anything about most character's backstories so we're just left to assume that they're murderous trigger happy loons just because ?? a literal let gays do crime moment except the crime is serial murders of underage children

(CHAPTER 4) Z=152: Doctor vs. Doctor
Tumblr media
As Chrome and Kohaku arrived at their designated vantage point, they were immediately struck by the sheer scale of the enemy factory. Its towering smokestacks and sprawling buildings dwarfed everything around it. Chrome, ever the strategist, was already on the line with the Perseus, relaying the latest intel.
"Perseus, come in! We have a new development," Chrome announced, her voice urgent.
On the Perseus, Senku and the others listened intently. "Got it. No more words," Senku replied, his tone equally serious.
"Right, since we're using radio waves, the enemy scientist could be intercepting our signal," Yuzuriha pointed out, her eyes filled with concern. Tsukasa nodded in agreement.
Just then, the Perseus received another incoming call. Magma, assuming it was Chrome, answered without hesitation. However, the voice on the other end was not Chrome's but that of Dr. Xeno, the mastermind behind the enemy forces.
"Greetings," Xeno said, his voice cold and calculating. "I presume this is your preferred frequency for communication?"
A wave of shock swept through the Perseus crew. The enemy had located their communication channel.
"MWAH HA HA! So you're the big bad guy, huh? You got guts!" Magma exclaimed, his bravado momentarily masking his fear.
"I apologize for my limited Japanese language skills," Xeno replied, his voice laced with disdain. "However, this conversation is not suitable for such primitive minds. I demand to speak with your science team leader."
The crew exchanged nervous glances. They knew who Xeno wanted to talk to.
"Put Dr. Taiju on the line," Xeno commanded.
Taiju, still dressed in his Gen costume, pointed at himself in confusion. "Me?"
Minami explained the situation to Senku, who realized immediately what was happening. "Ah, I see. This is Gen's doing," Senku said, picking his ear with his pinky finger.
"Guess I'm tagging in for Senku," Taiju announced, his voice filled with determination.
"Taiju here! That's Dr. Taiju to you! So you're Dr. Xeno, huh? Pay attention, because I've got something to say to you," Taiju shouted into the phone. "Shooting people with machine guns without warning... isn't nice!"
Senku, Ukyo, and Yuzuriha couldn't help but chuckle at Taiju's naivete. 'Well, duh,' they thought in unison.
"My apologies," Xeno replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "My soldiers, Stanley and (Y/N), merely wanted to demonstrate the chasm between our respective levels of science."
"Now, Dr. Taiju," Xeno continued, "as a fellow science-pro yourself, you must surely realize... we already possess a Haber Bosch plant."
Taiju's eyes widened in confusion. "A Haber... thingy? That's awesome, Dr. Xeno!" he exclaimed, clearly out of his depth.
Senku quickly intervened. "Don't talk more than you need to, you big oaf, or the cracks will start showing," he warned Taiju.
Minami asked Senku what Xeno was talking about. "What is he talking about?"
Senku explained. "A Haber Bosch plant is a factory that makes ammonia. In short, with just water and air, they can produce unlimited gunpowder and ammunition."
"So that's how they can fire those machine guns all day long!" Taiju shouted into the phone.
"You get the gist, Dr. Taiju," Xeno replied.
The Perseus crew was impressed by Taiju's performance. "Who knew Taiju was such a performer?" Ukyo said.
Yuzuriha couldn't help but laugh. "More like up front and direct," she replied.
"We are a collective of professional adults," Xeno said, his voice filled with contempt. "Unlike your ragtag band of merry youths playing with science. Now, I hope you'll surrender at once and serve me. Nothing more, nothing less. You see, our population is lacking."
Xeno explained that he didn't have enough manpower to de-petrify the statues and was therefore unable to expand his forces. He offered the Perseus crew a chance to surrender and serve him.
Ryusui realized why the enemy lacked revival fluid. Magma, however, was confused. "What's he mean? They don't have enough people? Why not just wake up the stone statues lying around everywhere?" he asked.
"HA HA! This tells us... they don't know about the revival fluid! Am I right?" Ryusui said confidently.
Xeno, realizing his mistake, asked how the Perseus crew had revived the statues. He was unintentionally revealing his ignorance of the revival fluid.
"Well, we..." Taiju began to explain, but Senku and Ryusui interrupted him. "We'll simply crush your group once we have the manpower to do so," Senku said, his voice cold and calculating.
Senku then revealed that they could have Corn City running with the formula. With that, Taiju rejected Xeno's offer, and Xeno promptly ended the call.
"You're never getting the revival fluid! Request denied, mister!" Taiju shouted into the phone.
"Very well. Negotiations have broken down then. What a shame," Xeno replied, his voice filled with disappointment.
Just then, the Perseus crew heard a noise and looked up to see another enemy plane flying overhead. The enemy had reinforcements.
"<Ooh, that's one whopper of a flagship,>" Stanley remarked, his eyes wide with amazement.
(Y/N), ever the daredevil, climbed onto the roof of the plane and sat in a makeshift seat, her machine gun ready. "<How cute~,>" she cooed, gripping the gun tightly.
Meanwhile, on the Perseus, the crew turned to Senku for guidance. "How can we fight back? We don't have an airstrip," Ukyo asked.
Senku's response was both unexpected and ingenious. "Then we just gotta make one," he replied.
"Where?" Ukyo asked, confused.
Senku pointed at the Perseus. "Here," he said. "We're going to build an aircraft carrier on the Perseus."
The crew was stunned. An aircraft carrier on a ship? It was a crazy idea, but it was also the only way to fight back against the overwhelming enemy forces. Senku announced that he and Kaseki would start building a runway.
"It's aircraft carrier time!" Senku shouted excitedly. "The Perseus is getting a total makeover!"

Chapter 198 Trivia (Part 1)
🎵A whole new world A new fantastic point of view No one to tell us, "No" Or where to go Or to say "stop shooting kids"~🎶
Tumblr media
We've established that death by injury can be stopped by the petrification device, so the next challenge the KoS faces is once again time, and aging.
I'm sure Kaseki will make it to the end of the series, but Inagaki is very good at making us worry for everyone's safety.
Tumblr media
Senku jumped and Tsukasa didn't, but he looks concerned. Luckily Tsukasa's chilled out since Stone Wars, so he didn't immediately sense danger and stab Chrome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like the petrification device, Whyman is also in a moral gray area. Whyman themself (themselves? It could be more than one person) may be working against Senku's goals but their message did just save everyone from certain death…
Tumblr media
It'll. Be. Fine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The depetrification started from where it was poured again. Sometimes this doesn't happen, and there's still been no explanation for it…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rather than fully healing, Xeno's scars have changed. On his statue, they're still visible unlike Senku's, and when depetrified, the solid section has disappeared and the lines have faded a little.
The part under his eye is now similar to Stanley's double lines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Xeno's scars also remind me of tartan fabric.)
Tsukasa has incredibly long arms when he needs to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are who I believe all the old people are meant to be. I could be wrong, and the ones I'm not sure about I've added "?" to.
Tumblr media
I sure hope this isn't foreshadowing…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Senku says the broadcast was nonstop. I wonder if it means that it was similar to the "WHY" in Morse code which was continuous, or if the "nonstop" was an exaggeration.
They didn't seem to wait long to confirm there was radio silence it so I presume it was the former?
Tumblr media
Stanley's statue is still covered in black stuff. What is it?
The placement looks consistent between panels so it's definitely deliberate… Did Joel only partially fix the petrification device?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Carlos' hat changed color, and it changed after everyone got their outfits back already, so maybe he changes it according to his mood?

It seems there have been misconceptions of Senku's "favourite type of people" in the fanbook because it's not "assistant" in that sense, it's "people who do what needs to be done" (read it on his official Wikipedia page), which you can read either as
• He enjoys the company of efficient people who prioritize missions above their feelings (like Stanley, Ryusui, and Tsukasa)
or
• He enjoys free workers and free labor (which is quite exploitative, but not surprising lol)
Which brings me to my next point:
This seems to refer to a general which type of person each character enjoys rather than a romantic attraction towards them or else it would have specifically been called out as it usually is; especially since most statements are very casual not very indicative of romantic or sexual attraction and almost everyone refers to "people" with the exceptions being those in the series who are notorious for their romantic/sexual attraction (Moz, Ibara, Ginro, etc), Ryusui who just likes everyone lmao, or happen to be in a relationship (Chrome, Ruri, and Taiju).
Stanley's "capable guys", Gen's "anyone who finds something cute", Tsukasa's "people who respect the wishes of others", Xeno's "rational people", Matsukaze's "people undeterred by hardships", Hyoga's "people who do things properly", even Sai going "people who enjoy each other's company without over-interfering" (which is a very clear call out to Ryūsui who likes to interfere with whatever Sai does, it's basic older sibling stuff, he likes being left alone lmao) and Mirai’s “older brother types” (very cute because it shows what a good big brother Tsukasa is). The list goes on.
Which looking at the series are characteristics that everyone has displayed very much as general statements, especially Hyoga's (he complimented his enemies on being efficient and doing their jobs properly after all).
More specific examples for this are Taiju, Yuzuriha, Kirisame and Homura's type.
Taiju said Yuzuriha is his favourite type of person, but Yuzuriha's favourite type, although fitting Taiju, is not Taiju specifically, but just straightforward and kind-hearted people (which also very much fits Senku), just how Homura's type, although she has an IMMENSE crush on Hyoga, isn't Hyoga specifically, but cold and beautiful people.
Kirisame who canonically is stated to never wanting to get marry likes honest people (clearly a call out to Ibara who betrayed her trust).
Long story short:
The favourite type category has nothing to do with actual romance. Senku's still not romantically or sexually interested in anyone. Senku 10 billion percent doesn't give a crap about dating. He's a loveless AroAce.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Spoilers up til chapter 193)
I've seen a lot of opinions on Dr Xeno and Stanley recently, so I'm here to explain my own opinion and maybe question what I've read a bit.
I love Dr. Xeno as a character, and I really like Stanley as well. Now don't get me wrong ; I don't condone killing and I'd be terrified as hell to be their enemy. But as a person reading a story, I do like them.
Xeno isn't wrong when he says he and Senku are similar : science is their prime interest, and both of them would never give it up. From my point of view Xeno isn't building a dictatorship for power, but to secure his freedom to do science without being shackled by politics, morals and disinterest or ignorance (see his conversation with Chrome in the tunnel when he was kidnapped, or with Senku in chapter 193). And while his lack of morals is something I do not share, it's very easy for me to understand where he is coming from. Thing is, today, scientific research is limited, because all research involves founding. Thus, you are obliged to research something someone will have an interest in, otherwise your project will never even cross the starting line. Add to that restrictions due to politics and/or public opinion who isn't always accurate because the average person is not very knowledgeable when it comes to science, and Xeno's frustration becomes very understandable.
Maybe I'm in a bit of a particular position because I've experienced something similar in the past. I remember my mathematics class in 2nd year of middle school. You must know that I've always loved maths, and it's always been an easy topic for me. What's more, I' ve always been really "behaved" in class. So spending my entire year in a class in which I could barely hear the teacher over the noise my classmates would make, with airplanes and other objects flying all over was pure torture for me. More than once I nearly ended up in tears or spent the entire class internally begging I could explode and make them shut up. But I think the worst was that the day I did explode - for the first time ever in all my years in school, and it only happened once again ever since - and raised my voice at my classmates - no insults or screaming, just speaking very loud and covering every other voice, for one or two sentences - the teacher obviously asked to see me at the end of the class. I expected him to be on my side, to tell me he understood my frustration, but no. He told me not to do it again and left it at that.
So I know what it's like to be surrounded by people you deem ignorant, I know what it's like not to find support in people who should be on your side - and Xeno's eagerness to kill other scientists and not work with them despite the fact that scientific advancement is quicker that way tells me that was probably the case for him too. I know what it's like to feel lonely because of your intellect, and to resent others for not respecting your need to learn. Because yes, it's not a wish, it's a need and not being able to fulfill it is painful. So I can't condone Xeno's methods, but I sure as hell do understand where he's coming from.
As for Stanley - I must say what I like the most about him is his relationship with Xeno. It's not clearly stated whether they are an item or not - and while I like to believe that they are, his loyalty would be even more admirable if they weren't. He's that support and acceptance Xeno must surely long for. An unconditional ally. And yeah, he kills people - but honestly, he's a soldier so I'm not sure what you expected.
And since we're on the topic of killing people, what I'm surprised about is that some people condemn Xeno and Stanley on the topic but not Tsukasa. Because I fail to see the difference.
While I understand Xeno, Tsukasa's ideology never made much sense to me. More precisely, while I agree that today's world is far from perfect, the whole "adults are evil, young people are innocent and science must be abolished" speech is so incredibly naive and ignorant that I could argue against it for thirty minutes straight. And for the critics, I'm the same age Tsukasa was when he was revived, and I was younger when I started Dr. Stone, so don't tell me that's the problem here. In any case, while I don't think dictature is a viable long-term solution in either Xeno's or Tsukasa's case (because you can't tell me Tsukasa wasn't a dictator when he reigned alone and didn't accept differing opinions), at least the reason Xeno started his was logical.
And Tsukasa killed too, for the sake of imposing his worldview. He killed Senku, killed a lot of statues - yes, killed, because he didn't know they could be saved just like Stanley and Brody didn't know the beam would save the Japanese. All things considered, Tsukasa probably killed more people on his own than all the Americans since the beginning of the arc. Not to mention that the Americans only killed people who were an active threat, not people who are not even conscious. So I don't understand why people are so eager to hate Stanley and Xeno but accept Tsukasa no problem.
In the end, the only antagonist I truly dislike is Ibara, because he only wanted power. (And Mozu too, I guess, but he's been playing nice so I'm reserving my opinion for now). Tsukasa, Xeno, and even Hyoga in a way, are all defending their own values from honest concerns that originate from the world we experience today. I truly believe it's important that the Kingdom of Science consider all of those issues while reviving humanity.

My thoughts on Dr. Stone’s Chapter 199 (“Superalloys”)
My thoughts after reading Chapter 199:
01. Suika looks powerful in her chapter art armor! :D Her bare feet look funny, though XD
02. Are we REALLY sure we want Dr. Xeno awake?? I’m on Ginro’s side here!
03. Poor Kohaku... now there are THREE scientists in the “party,” which means more confusing scientific words XD
04. Or maybe we should say FOUR scientists? After all, Suika did work on her own for years to make revival fluid (even longer than Senku did); she’s curious about what Dr. Xeno just showed them; AND she’s using her own scientific terminology as well... “electricity’s zap-zaps” :D
05. Making a Geiger counter in the stone world... :O Granted, I have no idea how complicated it is to make them in the modern era, but still!
06. I wonder if Dr. Xeno’s comments encouraged any Dr. Stone-reading schoolchildren to make their own Geiger counters from lighters? :O Safety first! :O
07. Kohaku and Chrome worked together to transport the ores the (mini) power team found! :)
08. Ilemenite ore, molybdenite, chrome ore, pyrochlore ore, nickel ore... I wonder what colors they all are? And from the size of those crates in relation to Gen, they found a LOT of each! :O
09. The Perseus returns! But... it’s all rusted... will there be enough iron left for them to use? And they showed us what the kingdom of science used to salvage it - round floatation devices! I wonder if the balloons were filled with a specific type of gas, or if they just used plain old air for them?
10. Poor Kaseki... :( Reunited with his beloved ship, only for everybody else to immediately tear it to pieces... XD
11. Senku really knows how to hype Kaseki up! :D
12. Smashing rocks once again... must be nostalgic for Kohaku; she looks mischievous XD
13. Don’t worry, Suika, Dr. Xeno doesn’t mean Chrome the human! He’ll be just fine! :)
14. Kohaku and Suika (and everybody else) were excited to know what they were going to use the stainless steel for... but it was just for canned food XD That’s still really useful too, I suppose :D
15. Interesting how a small frame shows that Tsukasa got four animals, and Hyoga got three - like showing us in a subtle way that Tsukasa is the superior of the two :D
16. Adding zirconium and tantalum... food cans... 3,700 years?! This isn’t foreshadowing, is it? :O
17. Ooh, stainless knives for making sashimi! :D (Speaking of sashimi, I’ll be eating some today, mmm! :P)
18. Kohaku’s excited about what’s possible because of stainless steel! :)
19. Do we REALLY have to revive the rest of Dr. Xeno’s crew? They were horrible to the kingdom of science! I don’t like them :(
20. A fatal toxin... that Dr. Xeno will be in charge of... That’s not good... :O
21. I like Chrome’s insight and Kohaku’s declaration! :)
22. So many people celebrating the founding of Superalloy City! :D
23. This chapter showed more about their aims and their ways to get there... the necessary work of the scientist of darkness and the guidance of the scientist of light. I know this isn’t going to happen, but after Senku and the others leave, Dr. Xeno could just revive Stanley and try to take over Superalloy City... Also, I looked something up and spoiled myself a little bit for something that will apparently happen in Chapter 206. Oops... :O But it wasn’t a huge spoiler, so no worries! Anyway, on to the next chapter... Chapter 200! I wonder if there will be special, colorful art in that chapter to commemorate the milestone? :D

Yeah you're probably right. Senku is the forgiving type, he believes in moving forward. But it might be a bit more complicated than that.
One thing Tsukasa was right about, is that when the old elite (and the adults in general) wake up, they will try to restore the old order, especially if they see how much tech was already developed. In the end Senku won't rule anyone ; not only because the adults won't accept a bunch of 20-something years old (since the protagonist probably won't be much older than that by the end of the story) ruling them, but also because Senku does not have any interest in being a leader.
What form will the new society take, I don't know. But I doubt Senku will be the one to implement its rules. Not even Tsukasa's threat and charisma (which they rely on to build their cities) will hold once 7 billion people are revived. And they won't be able to "convert them" to science, as adults are 10 billion times more stubborn than young people regarding their ideals. Also, 7 billion is too much.
Honestly I'm still trying to figure out how this will not end up in a bloodshed. The only thing I can think of is using scientific knowledge as a bargaining chip for people to listen to them. But while Senku and Xeno are leagues above your average scientist, others will have enough knowledge combined to achieve the same progress, if more slowly, so it might not be that efficient.
However, whatever form this society takes and whatever rules are implemented, they won't have any reason to condemn Hyoga or even Tsukasa unless they are told what happened.
Which brings me to the thing that has been bothering me since I started obsessing about Dr Stone a few days ago: History.
I was wondering what I would do if I was part of the story. And very quickly came the need to record events.
I love both science and history. Those two topics are closely linked of course, as science cannot progress beyond a certain point without records.
So my answer was that I would try to record all I could, on paper once that was possible. First, everything I could recall having ever learned. Then ask others for their own knowledge. Try to gather as much knowledge as we could, lose as little as possible. (After all, science literally means knowledge. Knowledge is one of the things I value the most.)
Then, the events, starting from Senku's revival. Ask for testimonies, be objective and so on. Write down the process for each invention. Record History.
But the protagonists haven't done that - only some photos and a couple records.
When the old world wake up, people are gonna ask for the story. Maybe not immediately, but at some point. People will want to know what happened.
Then the question is : what story is the Kingdom of Science going to tell? The truth, but risking their friends receiving judgment from the public even if they are not condemned? (After all, you cannot say someone broke a law when it didn't exist. [Or did it still, after thousands of years? Can we claim anything from the past is still relevant? Are we going to condemn them all for foraging and such when they are the reason humanity was revived?]) A lie, going against their own principles, and having to trust that 150 people are going to stay quiet on the matter?
I'm going to bet on the truth.
The question of how they will tell it will matter. Fortunately they should have enough influence and intellect to turn the narrative to their advantage.
Honestly, the story could be extremely beneficial for the future of science.
Then, finally, the question : how will people react to the truth about Tsukasa and Hyoga (and Stanley, and Xeno)? Well Tsukasa raised a good point so he might end up better off than the others. Still, public opinion will probably be harsh. As I said, it won't be possible legally speaking to condemn anyone, but public backlash cannot be avoided.
Hyoga, Stanley and Xeno can still change a lot by the end of the manga. Their future actions might change the outcome.
So who knows. I'm not even sure how much the manga will show us about the return of civilization - it might end soon after the mystery behind the petrification of humanity is uncovered. Stories often let the rest to the imagination, once the Big Mystery is solved.
So, I've been re-reading the part of dr. Stone where they're going to America, and I was talking with my mom about it after. More specifically Hyoga and the crimes him and Tsukasa have committed. Now, Tsukasa has pretty much been forgiven and Hyoga is on a path to redemption but one of Hyoga's comments got me thinking.
I don't have a screenshot of the panel put the important part is that he says whatever justice system Senku implements won't forgive his crimes, more specifically the murder. And I might be reading characters wrong, but I don't think Senku will deal any punishment to Hyoga or Tsukasa.
Tsukasa because he's pretty much been forgiven, but I think he'll also forgiven Hyoga as long as he keeps helping them. By the time they get a justice system up and running, I feel like in Senku's eyes Hyoga will be redeamed and as long as no one objects he won't give Hyoga any form of sentence.
My thoughts probably came out a little muddled here, I don't like typing out my thoughts. But I'd love to defend this if anyone has a problem or just wants to discuss!

What are your thoughts on the recent manga developements? Like the climax of the vs stanley arc and the suika mini arc etc, idk ive just been loving the recent chapters and wanna hear more talk about it and your rants so far have been really entertaining ^^
Tumblr media
ANON FCGB;;;😳
WELL i did make an entire playlist based off those 3 suika chapters so i guess you could say i’ve been enjoying the current arc gfgfh. ok here are my VERY extended thoughts on the last 10ish chapters under the cut (manga spoilers obv) (LUCY DON’T READ THIS ONE FR) (also cw for like.. discussion of diseases and stuff tho i dont go too much into detail, i’m not an actual doctor obviously dfgdfg)
Tumblr media
this ended up being way longer than i expected so i tried breaking it into a few sections and adding images to make it easier on the eyes, i’ve really loved the south america arc as a whole but these last few chapters have been especially amazing
vs stanley climax
first of all, i gotta love how you called it the "vs stanley fight", and i mean, you're technically right since he is the antagonist of this arc, but it's interesting how they never have a direct faceoff with stanley, it's more like stanley and his troops attacking super one sidedly in a way the kos can't really fight against, so they use communication between their different teams to trap stanley & co in a situation they can't run away from and win in the long term
Tumblr media
i love that dr stone "fights" are most often won strategically rather than in a straight up 1v1 brawl, in fact those more standard fights are most often used as a way to keep the enemy at bay until senku & co can figure out a way to actually win, also it's just really cool that the team that delivered the final blow was thousands of miles away from where the actual fight was taking place, or even hundreds of thousands if you count whyman as the "person who delivered the final blow"
stanley theorizes at the end that the kos will probably keep his statue as a hostage to make xeno work for them on the rocket if he wants stanley back (lmao gay), but considering their track record of letting past enemies join the crew, i have a feeling we’ll have both xeno and stanley (and the rest of the americans) back rather than just xeno
Tumblr media
the only antagonist so far that hasn't been redeemed is ibara, who is just being kept as a stone statue somewhere, but you could tell that would be the case based on his design alone, he just screams *irredeemable villain*
Tumblr media
xeno and stanley, while antagonists, are also clearly designed to be likeable characters, so i don't see them getting the same treatment
the only problem would be keeping a constant watch over xeno to make sure he doesn't do any Side Projects™ and develop firearms again, but it could also be that xeno was actually convinced of senku’s philosophy in their last talk before the beam hit, so maybe he will be willing to help even without having stanley be a hostage, but i guess we’ll just wait and see
Tumblr media
as a side note, whyman periodically sending the petrification command was basically a chekhov's gun now that i think about it, so it makes sense in a meta way that a second worldwide petrification would happen, why establish it if it wont come into play later in the story? i actually felt kinda dumb for not seeing it coming fgdfg
Tumblr media
aftermath/suika chapters
the first strategy they had for defeating stanley was a good one, but it wouldn't really make for good storytelling if it just Worked and they won just like that, it would be pretty anticlimactic after running from him for almost 20 chapters, so it makes sense then that what they had to go with in the end was the same strategy, but on a much bigger scale
Tumblr media
suika being the one to be depetrified first and have to save everyone is also a good choice both thematically and to make sure the victory isn't too easy
having someone like senku or chrome who understands the platinum method to make revival fluid and then have it done in less than a day, or having suika simply find some extra revival fluid lying around like she was initially planning would, again, be anticlimactic, it would've lacked impact after everything they've been through
these 3 chapters also nicely bring back the theme of science not being exclusive to the “pros”, everyone can use it as long as they have the proper steps to follow, the most impressive example before this was the corn city crew managing to make a diamond by following senku’s instructions despite not having any scientists on board (and before that, gen and the villagers making a telescope)
Tumblr media
and now suika is even more impressive, being a literal child and all, even though she wasn't able to understand the more complex methods, there was still a way for her to succeed, all she needed was to be patient and diligently go at it step by step, i adore these 3 chapters and i love suika so much now it's insane
Tumblr media Tumblr media
suika being the one to get revived serves another purpose as well...
honestly, already around 188/189 i was starting to get really worried about how the story would handle the emotional aftermath
shonen jump manga has a tendency to just gloss over the psychological consequences of traumatic events (one moment i remember finding really frustrating was in bnha, when kirishima gets really fucked up during the overhaul arc but the next time we see him he’s just joking around about looking like a mummy because of all his bandages🙄), so i was worried they wouldn't treat the aftermath of an event like this with the gravity it deserves, (i think LITERALLY DYING could be considered a traumatic event but i'm no psychologist🤔)
Tumblr media
suika’s time alone shows a nice contrast to senku, while senku is definitely not emotionless, during his time alone before taiju was revived he is still very cool and collected, not showing any emotional weakness like the king of repression he is
suika is a whole different story, she’s a kid, she doesn't repress her emotions like senku does, so during her time alone she is scared and lonely, especially at the beginning, we see her breaking down into tears multiple times, imagining her friends statues talking to her, hugging kohaku’s statue for comfort etc
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this really provided the emotional catharsis i was hoping for, through suika, the audience is genuinely able to feel the gravity of what has happened
i do wish more of the older characters could be allowed to show emotional weakness like this, but i guess having suika serve as a proxy for everyone works well enough
on that note, senku was alone for only 6 months and even then its implied in treasure island that he may have a problem with loneliness
Tumblr media
suika on the other hand was alone for YEARS, i can only imagine how that affected her mental state, tho honestly i can't say i expect the story to delve into something like that too deeply (or at all) since this is a shonen manga after all..
immortality
i’ve seen some people interpreting hyoga’s resurrection in 197 as “they can revive somebody that died from an injury, but people will still die eventually due to old age”, but i don’t think that's really the case, people don’t just die from “old age” by itself, they die because their body slowly degrades over time, which makes it harder to fight against numerous diseases, one of which will eventually get you and kill you
but dr stone (aka the combination of medusa+revival fluid) can nullify that degradation and bring your body back into a healthy state, we’ve already seen this with kaseki on treasure island where senku explains that dr stone healed his arthritis, a disease which probably would have lead to his natural death sooner or later
Tumblr media
while we already know kaseki was in better shape than most people his age, it’s still surprising to see an old man like him jumping around so energetically, thats how much the restoration improved his health
we also know it healed mirai who was brain dead before being revived, so i think it's a pretty safe bet that it can heal other brain related diseases such as alzheimers
if so, then dr stone can heal injuries, diseases and even death as we’ve seen with hyoga, i think it’s pretty accurate of senku to say that humanity has gained immortality with it
Tumblr media
honestly this development has been a long time coming, the idea of dr stone being able to bring back the dead was introduced as early as the first arc when tsukasa killed senku but taiyuzu were able to bring him back, but it really does seem like such an out there concept so i’m interested to see how they will base it in science... (and also how they will handle the whole… moral dilemma of immortality but i ain't ready to even attempt to think abt any of that)
my favourite theory that has sprung up from this is that if people really can live forever thanks to dr stone, it could be that whyman is actually a normal human who has been continually petrifying and reviving themself to live for 3700 years
wat will happen nixt?
back when 196 came out it kinda dawned on me just how much the crew has been set back in the progress they've made so far that it was giving me anxiety for real gfgdfg
seven years have passed, and in that time a lot of the tools they've made must have degraded, along with that, everyone they've revived so far has been turned to stone once again, there was nobody to upkeep the wheat fields and sundial and basically everything they've left in japan, and after all this time even the perseus must be in bad shape and in need of repair, as chrome suggests
Tumblr media
how long will it take them to repair the ship? to repair all the tools they've lost? their original plan was to go around the world building cities where they can get all the materials to work on that rocket they’ll be making eventually, they already kinda started up corn city, but that has been out of commission for a while now, they were planning to build superalloy city in south america and have barely started on that
so they need to keep building these cities but also need to go back and revive everyone if they don't want their progress to go to waste, how will they go about this?? will they just tackle it one by one or split into teams, so one team can stay behind and work on superalloy city and the other can go back and revive everyone? who knows?? ryusui certainly made it sound way easier than how i've been imagining it dfgdfg
Tumblr media
other than that, i gotta wonder are the kingdom of science really the only humans left on earth now that there's been a second worldwide petrification, or has some other group revived somewhere during the timeskip, OR maybe there might be another group out there who also devised the revival formula and was able to escape the 2nd petrification, which would then give them 7 more years to develop while senku n co are just stuck in stone 🤔 dr stone has always had some human antagonist so i wonder who’s next now that xeno and stanley have been dealt with
honestly my favourite arc has always been age of exploration precisely because it doesn't have any human threat and the characters are just left to craft and work on rebuilding society without the pressure of a looming war or a crazy american hunting them down, so honestly i'm hoping we will get another arc like that now, i think the crew definitely deserves it dnjd
random bonus ramblings
-using poop and shells to create nitric acid and it being a process that would take a long time is something that has already been mentioned multiple times in the series, so it’s really cool to see it actually utilized in the story rather than being random throwaway info
Tumblr media
makes you wonder what other seemingly throwaway lines could actually be foreshadowing...
Tumblr media
😬😬😬
-since joel managed to fix a medusa im very excited for him to be revived so we can learn how he did it and how the petrification works in the first place!! (and for joel and kaseki to finally meet in general)
Tumblr media
-drst has a habit of introducing a character in one arc and having them be Just kinda There for some time until they finally have their time to shine in a later arc, examples being minami and of course yuzuriha, so i'm wondering if the same will happen later on with some of the americans, charlotte seems like a good contender for this (the girl that suika saved in 185, i gotta wonder how she felt having to shoot down the people who saved her life)
Tumblr media
-on that note i feel like matsukaze also still hasn’t had his time to shine or contribute in any unique way yet (other than exposition gdvdj)
-i was also really liking dr brody as a character so i was kinda disappointed that he just blindly decided to kill everyone in corn city instead of talking and trying to come to an agreement w them like he has been up till then (though i guess it was necessary for the plot🙄), interested to see what they do with him as well
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-i wanna see stanxeno on screen makeout sesh 🙄!
-will senku not losing his petrification cracks be explained? if he still has them, will xeno, stanley, luna etc still have theirs too? (honestly i hope so, i don’t wanna have to stare at xeno’s big shiny forehead for the rest of the series gsdhgfd)
ok i feel like i've finally exhausted all the numerous thoughts i had sdfdfd thank you for giving me an excuse to ramble on for so long and congratulations if you've managed to make it til the end <3
in conclusion

warnings:. all characters are 18+!!! violence. language. FICTION!! don't like it? scroll away!! first ever post on this app. english is not my first language, so ugh.(Dr. Stone x Reader)(Dr. STONE : New America City Arc) MANGA SPOILER
(CHAPTER 5) Z=153: War game
Tumblr media
"C'mon, everyone! Let's evaluate the state of this war, okay?!" Magma exclaimed, a cocky grin plastered across his face as he pointed at himself.
"Here we go—it's prettified Magma again," Yo said, tilting his head in amusement. "But the way you're talking is almost too polite. It's freaking me out."
"Shut your freakin' trap or I'll kill you dead." Magma began, his voice trailing off as he said a suitably threatening retort.
"You showed your true colors in five seconds flat! Try committing to the act a little longer!" Yo responded, feigning surprise.
"No way, cuz I'm out to kill that piece of crap they call Dr. Xeno!" Magma declared, his eyes narrowed in determination.
"We came here for corn, right? And Dr. Xeno's the guy with all the corn. So the quickest solution is to kill that guy! Duh!" Magma said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Then, Magma, eager to enlist Yo and his weapons, started cajoling him into joining the plan to take down Xeno before anything else could happen. Mantle joined in, and eventually, Yo agreed. They were about to run off to shoot Xeno when Nikki stopped them.
"What kind of numbskulls think they can face a machine gun head-on?!" Nikki scolded the trio.
"Yeah, well, we got a superweapon of our own!" Magma shouted back, his voice filled with bravado.
"Too bad theirs has about ten billion percent more power. It'd be another story if this enemy was willing to wait around while we built our own gunpowder factory..." Senku said from the back, carrying a basket.
"Right. Let's evaluate the state of this war," Tsukasa agreed.
Meanwhile, the Perseus crew was gathered around a war table, their kingdom of science war leaders discussing their next move. With the stolen aircraft, they decided to convert the Perseus into an aircraft carrier, just in case the Americans decided to come back with planes. They began the crafting process, improving the plane with features like twisted bamboo wheels. Ryusui had a distinct feeling that by remaining stationary, they were unintentionally assisting the enemy.
"Ha ha! Exactly! If they come at us from above, then so be it!" Ryusui said with a confident smile.
'A dogfight! Aircraft versus aircraft!'
'We're turning the Perseus into an aircraft carrier! All hands on deck for this quick construction project!'
"Wow. We're really building a runway on the deck? Will it actually allow us to fly?" Minami asked the duo, Senku and Ryusui.
"Hmph, an ultra-light airplane... only needs 20 meters to take off," Ryusui said to Senku, discussing the carrier project with glint in his eyes.
"And for landings, we'll use wires to stop the plane by force! Just like on real aircraft carriers," Senku concluded.
Meanwhile, on Dr. Xeno's side.
"<No, they cannot escape. Hence the reason why we deployed the spy plane—to discourage them,>" Xeno said.
Suddenly, a gigantic woman walked past Gen while eating meat.
"<Are we gonna hunt 'em down with the plane and beat 'em into submission? Is that it?>" Maya asked.
Xeno answered, "<These poor youths are too clever for their own good. They'll be wary of such tactics and stay rooted to the spot! But no—I have a solution in mind that's more elegant.>"
"<Keep them pinned down... and eliminate the enemy scientist,>" Xeno finished, a sinister smile playing on his lips as he glanced back at Maya and Gen.
When Gen heard these words leave Xeno's mouth, he looked at Xeno's back, his face flushed with anxiety.
"<According to our new friend, Mr. Gen, there's a single superhuman science-pro among them. As such, to bring this kiddie kingdom of science crumbling down... we need to only eliminate their leader,>" Xeno said.
"Dr. Taiju...!" Gen thought, his face shooking in panic.
Gen continued to stare at Xeno anxiously, but...
"<Great idea, brilliant-bay, truly. B-b-but can you pull it off?!>" Gen asked, his voice trembling slightly.
Stanley and (Y/n) were leaning against the door, listening intently.
"<We can,>" (Y/n) confirmed without hesitation.
"<How EXACTLY?!>" Gen asked anxiously again.
(Y/n) glared down at Gen, her eyes narrowed with annoyance. She couldn't believe he was questioning their ability to handle the situation. Her disdain was evident as she took a step closer, her heels clicking against the hard pavement.
"<Ha?>" she scoffed, her voice laced with sarcasm. "<Are you underestimating us? Well, don't waste your time doubting us because simply—>" She paused, her expression turning serious.
Gen shook his head vigorously, his eyes wide with fear as he met the woman's intense gaze. "<N-no! Of course not, Miss (Y/n)! I didn't mean to doubt you. I was just—>" He trailed off, unable to find the right words to justify his earlier skepticism.
Stanley turned to answer, interrupting the two bickering.
"<We. Can.>"
"<Mr. Gen! When Stan and (Y/n) claim they can get the job done, there's no need to question it!>" Xeno said, placing a hand on Gen's head, startling him.
Then, Stanley and (Y/n) hurriedly dashed out the door to carry out their mission.
"<Because, they can,>" Xeno finished.
'I'm... terribly sorry... dear Taiju,' Gen thought, offering a silent apology to Taiju in advance.
Meanwhile, on the Perseus crew...
"We could give up on the corn... abandon Gen, Chrome, and Kohaku, and sail out to sea. That would save us," Hyoga suggested to the crew.
Taiju panicked and shouted, "Like we'd ever do that!"
"Of course not. But the enemy doesn't know that, that's my point," Hyoga replied.
"So we can expect them to attack without delay," Tsukasa added.
"Ku ku ku, where are our manners? Let's not make our hosts do all the work, when we can take the fight to them instead," Senku said, amused.
"A small elite unit. In that case, since Dr. Xeno is the source of their science... then our goal is to capture him!" Tsukasa concluded.
"This unit will include..."
"Tsukasa."
"Hyoga."
"Ukyo."
"Suika."
'Neither side can move its base of operations, neither side can flee. It's a science siege that could turn into a...' Gen thought.
"For one side to win..." Senku said with a terrifying smile, mirroring the one on Xeno's face.
"...It's gonna put the other's leader in checkmate."
'...Kingdom of science versus kingdom of science battle! This fight'll be determined with a breakneck attack!'
As Senku selected Tsukasa, Hyoga, Ukyo, and Suika to venture forth, Stanley and (Y/n) were also making their way through the dense forest, their weapons drawn and ready to confront any threats that might arise. The crisp autumn air was filled with the sounds of rustling leaves and the occasional snap of a twig underfoot, creating a sense of both tranquility and unease.

My thoughts on Dr. Stone’s Chapter 187 (“Cyber Guerilla”)
My thoughts after reading Chapter 187:
01. (CHAPTER PARALLEL.) Chapter 187 shares interesting similarities with Chapter 151 (the chapter right after “Dr. Taiju” spoke with Dr. Xeno) 😲 Both chapters have: (1.) a cunning, intelligent person in enemy hands who gave misleading information (Francois with Stanley, Gen with Dr. Xeno); (2.) both had combatants who intended to go out on their own mission (Kohaku to rescue Suika and the others; Yo/Magma/Mantle to be heroes; (3.) both showed warriors being sent out on a specific mission (Tsukasa/Hyoga/Ukyo/Suika to capture Dr. Xeno, Tsukasa/Hyoga to help Kohaku); (4.) both showed Hyoga providing information on what actions the enemy might take (build a pirate vessel to capture the Perseus / potentially harm Nikki and the others in Corn City); and (5.) both of their last pages showed that the kingdom of science was about to fight enemies who had very advanced guns 😲 Not all of them are exactly the same (Nikki stopped Yo, Magma, and Mantle from leaving / it wasn’t specified whether Tsukasa and Hyoga were sent to Kohaku or if they decided to follow her without being told to do so). But still, there are so many parallels… impressive! 😲😁
02. (ENEMY GROUP.) They know how to track footprints? I didn’t know they taught that in the army… then again, Stanley’s the only confirmed soldier, I think. Maybe he or Dr. Xeno or somebody else taught everybody how to do that? When we see the enemy through Kohaku Vision… there are SO MANY of them! 😲 Or, wait… is she imagining them moving and that’s why it looks like there’s a lot of them even though there are actually only four enemies? Like if you were to put still video frames on top of one another? How many people does Stanley’s group have? Did the enemy group just HAPPEN to stop that close to one of Chrome’s traps? Seems like a big coincidence to me… That “FOUND… YOU!” SO reminded me of Krone from The Promised Neverland! 😲 It was even in really creepy font and speech bubbles!)
03. (GEN.) Gen, wow! 😁 Gen and Kohaku haven’t been interacting THAT much lately, so I don’t really think of him when I think of Kohaku. And while I wish it were Senku who had thought of it first, at the same time, it makes SO much sense that Gen was the one who realized that Kohaku was likely to run off by herself to rescue Suika. The two of them go way back (she threatened him when they first met, and he saw from when they made the magnets how fast she was), and he was there when Kohaku wanted to rush off to defend Kinro (after he was stabbed by Hyoga), rescue Chrome from Tsukasa (when he was in the bamboo prison), and avenge Chrome’s broken statue during the Treasure Island arc. In fact, in that same chapter (Chapter 107) Gen and Kohaku’s wrists were connected with rope, and later on, Gen deduces what Kohaku meant with her wordless written message. Because they both have really strong connections with other characters, and because they both have their own very important roles in the kingdom of science, it’s easy to sleep on (or overlook) their own unique dynamic, but Kohaku knows just how talented Gen is, and Gen knows Kohaku well enough to be able to deduce her thoughts and predict her movements. Gen impressed me in this chapter, and what’s great is that his anticipating this makes so much sense because of the groundwork that’s come before. I’ll be paying MUCH closer attention to Gen and Kohaku’s interactions from now on, that’s for sure! 😲😊
04. (KOHAKU.) I like Kohaku so much and I’m so happy whenever I see her in chapters that I’m surprised the thought of her running off after they got the news didn’t cross my mind 😲 But it’s just like her to be so concerned for her comrades, especially Suika! 😊 As she said, finding them was easy peasy because of her eyesight :P It’s so cool how she was analyzing the different enemy soldiers and their functions (leader, comms man) and their physical positions and movements! 😊 And she probably knew that person was their communications guy because he had a pack on that was similar to what the kingdom of science made in the Stone Wars arc 😁 Her vision was shown as all black, with waves emanating from everybody… wow! 😲 It reminds me of sonograms or echolocation! She looks so happy to see Tsukasa and Hyoga, which is so funny given her histories with both of them 😆 (I was looking up past chapters while writing this and while I was searching for something about Hyoga in the Stone Wars arc, Kohaku’s short scene after Mirai was depetrified made me cry, like it has ten billion times before. I LOVE that scene…) In the next frame, where Hyoga is saying that they came prepared too, Kohaku looks cute 😊 Of course, after hearing about Hyoga’s hypothetical scenario, Kohaku’s worried for the others’ safety! 😭 She’s determined for them to at least destroy the transceiver before they “die,” but… I don’t want Kohaku to die!!! 😲😭 And after Maya finds them, Hyoga thinks they’re going to die, Tsukasa thinks they’re going to die, and… Kohaku thinks they’re going to die 😭 Kohaku’s gritting her teeth, and the thick line on the right side of her mouth makes it SORT of look like she’s confident and ready for battle, but usually when manga/anime characters grit their teeth and you can’t see their eyes, it’s a bad thing, right? Like they’re stressed or scared or about to cry? 😔 She looks much more confident on the next page when she talks about how she never imagined that the three of them would march into battle together 😊 But I’m still worried about them, especially Kohaku… 😔
05. (HYOGA.) Hyoga, who defied Kohaku’s expectations before when he helped her up like a gentleman, noticed that Kohaku was evaluating the enemy 😊 I don’t think he will, but imagine if Hyoga betrayed them at this critical juncture. They’re not using a cable car in the middle of nowhere anymore; he would be a very useful informant for Stanley AND Hyoga’s likely to get along with Dr. Xeno and Stanley’s group because they really do things properly 😲 He has a really good point about destroying the enemy’s transceiver! “Please think about it for a moment.” I can just imagine Hyoga saying that in a really posh, polite way (with “kudasai” at the end), even in the situation they’re in 😆 Of course, I could be totally wrong, haha! When Hyoga started talking about slicing off Dr. Xeno’s body parts… WOW 😲 And look at his eyes – they’re open JUST the TINIEST bit, which makes him look even more menacing – and that’s taking into account the previous page where him with his eyes open looked scary enough ALREADY… and he got creepy speech bubble borders to go with his chilling plans! When they heard what he said, Kohaku looked “whuuut,” but Tsukasa kind of seems like he’s rolling his eyes, like, “Ugh, here we go, he’s talking about slicing off fingers and toes, AGAIN…” 🙄 Hahaha! 😁 He’s not even really horrified or anything 😆
06. (SENKU.) Senku had his finger to his lips, like he wanted them to be quiet, even though they were firing a literal GUN 😆 And the plastic container thing was a good idea! 😊
07. (TSUKASA.) Tsukasa’s pretty familiar with twenty-first century fighting and warfare (he was a melee fighter back then, so he wasn’t using guns or anything, but he DID know what materials Senku needed for gunpowder), so he knows that their chances of defeating enemies with guns aren’t very high… 😔 Tsukasa knows combat theory… wow! 😲 Oh… I never thought of the Corn City people as hostages! 😔 Can somebody explain to me the advantages of using Tsukasa’s weapon? Um… I guess if you’re fighting somebody in front of you and somebody behind you, you can swing it at both of them? Or if you’re whirling into a group of enemies like a hurricane, it prevents anybody from reaching you?
08. (UKYO.) Ukyo looked so cute when he was holding up that fluffy boom microphone thing to record the gunshot sound 😁 And it’s cool to see him in his element (like him explaining sound effects in movies… to a stone age person like Chrome, of all people 😆 But to Senku too, I suppose, haha!) (and like him saying to layer the sounds on top of each other; very smart!), because his skill is really unique! 😊
09. (FINAL THOUGHTS.) I liked this chapter! 😁 Kohaku played a major role AND I got to see characters I know and care about (instead of getting so many no-text panels of the enemy group) AND those characters were conversing intelligently about their situation! 😊 But, at the end… the kingdom of science’s warriors three MOST POWERFUL WARRIORS, all three of them, are leaping down to battle enemies that ALREADY have GUNS pointed at them. GUNS! Held by PROFESSIONALS! How…? I mean… I know I shouldn’t worry. Hyoga’s too interesting a character to kill off now; Tsukasa has been in the story so long and had those moon-related conversations with Senku; and Kohaku has been such an important character since she made her first appearance – if I remember correctly, she’s only been far away from Senku twice since they met: her infiltration mission on Treasure Island and when she, Chrome, and Gen were looking for Dr. Xeno’s fortress. I KNOW Kohaku’s not going to die. I KNOW that. But… look at the situation they’re in!! 😭 They’re not civilians or prisoners of war… they’re combatants, and not only that, but they’re THE combatants who stormed Dr. Xeno’s fortress and captured him! There will be NO mercy for the enemy for these three! 😲 So… hmm… well, what’s coming to mind now is that if Hyoga pretends to betray them, he could buy them time… or will the Medusa be used? Either Senku’s group will petrify everybody fighting using Chrome’s trap (good thing he made those!), or Tsukasa and Hyoga actually have the Medusa with them right now (we saw Senku holding it, but he could have given it to them before they left) and it just hasn’t been revealed yet. Ah… okay, I feel better now 😊 There are ways that this can turn out fine, and we’ll all find out next week what happens next! 😁
