Man it really just hit me that if the Shadow Dragons existed in a modern our world city just how fast the magisterium and mass media would be out there propagandizing and pushing the narrative that the Shadows are dangerous terrorists who want to overthrow the state (and probably speculate that they intend to implement all kinds of terrible reforms that threaten only the powerful should they succeed). No doubt the Magisterium on the whole and the Venatori ARE pushing a narrative like that across Tevinter. Probably what your Average Antivan or Nevarran knows about the Shadows IS the propaganda. (Dangerous, Looking to impose their own views on the People of Tevinter by force).

Part of the struggle for Resistance Fighters IS how consolidated and interconnected systems of power are and what that means for how people understand them. Even the Shadows Allies like Dorian or Legatus Mercar aren't doing so openly. The Shadows are dangerous to be affiliated with. The heat Rook takes on the Nesus job probably got them branded the lore appropriate equivalent of domestic terrorist. There is undoubtedly a price on Rook's head in Minrathous. The stakes for any Shadow in getting identified are Very High.

I think if we really saw much of Minrathous outside Dock Town the reaction to the Shadow Dragons would be very different. Rook would probably be very on edge about being recognized.

Rook is infact probably very politically inconvenient for the Mercar family, even if the Mercar's agree with them entirely because of how much resisting oppression from within a system of power is a game of optics.

Fun Fact 101: Yuliya Moroz

We’ll now get to know the chef that received the title of “Stargazer” and is also called “princess” by several students of Totsuki! 

Her character was built on certain aspects of culture, an astrology and surprise- her love life with Shizuya would also be a part of this!

First of, as always- let’s start with culture. I’ve always like the idea of incorporating some ideas of culture inside my ocs depending on what cuisine they pick. However, just to take note, not all of them are entirely “blood related” with the cuisine they pick. But certainly, Yuliya is one of the people who were based on their cuisine.

Of course, as people know, she specializes in Ukrainian cuisine and that she comes from a rich family who didn’t actually make her grow up to be a chef. She was actually expected to grow up a movie actress, which is a large coincidence since her cooking partner [Sung Yong-chol] used to want to crow up as a stunt double. She originally wanted to succeed in her parents wants. Why an actress? There was an article that I’ve read about the very rich history of the country she used to live in.

Ukraine possesses a wealth of cultural talent and a considerable cultural legacy. Numerous writers have contributed to the country’s rich literary history. Impressive monuments of architecture and museums displaying works by generations of Ukrainian artists can be found throughout the country, and art galleries featuring contemporary Ukrainian artists have become commonplace in larger urban centres. The country’s strong tradition of folk art also continues to this day. In addition, high-calibre performing artists and ensembles appear regularly in Ukraine’s numerous theatres and concert halls.

This single paragraph heavily influences me to make a character be wealthy and has a lot of talent- and this was Yuliya. This was the start of her making because i thought the concept of a very rich person wanting to be a chef instead of an actress which was her previous dream was something that could have been interesting.

Yes, Yuliya might be considered as one of my most mutli-talented oc. She knows how to do several things, and this mostly focuses on “Performance Art”- something that is seen around Ukraine- and yes, they take pride in this. Also take another note- this aren’t her only talents, she has much more. She grew up in a rich family and a lot is expected from her.

So you may be asking why she left her previous dream as an actress to be a chef, and we’re going to get to that later once Shizuya comes in the picture.

You may also ask why she is extremely nice despite being rich and she has never showed any sign of discrimination, even to someone who worked for her before, but from what I researched- they’re extremely generous, and probably by far, she’s probably one of my most generous ocs.

Ukrainians are extremely generous and hospitable. All social occasions include food. Visitors are always offered something to eat as well as a beverage. It is considered the height of rudeness to eat in front of another person and not offer them something.

She allows people to get close to her, she will offer help if she can- and what can I say? She grew up in Ukraine and she got several morals from them. She’s also shown to treat people equally even if people do consider her as “superior” in a way, and she gives time to anyone and everyone- even if she doesn’t know the person completely.

Also I hope you remember that she believes Santa Claus is real, and she even makes him some food... that’s because she’s generous and also...

Ukrainians exchange gifts with family and close friends on birthdays and the Orthodox Christmas.

This. People in Ukraine are used to exchanging gifts with one another, so she believes that if he wants a gift from Santa Claus, she has to give something back to him in return. She also grew up believing in him, and the main reason she she still believes in him is because until now- she always gets what’s in her wish list.

Although direct communication is valued in the Ukraine, there is also an emphasis placed on delivering information in a sensitive manner. Often, the level of the relationship will determine how direct someone is. Obviously the newer a relationship, the more cautious people will be. Once a relationship has developed, people will then feel more comfortable speaking frankly.

Also this is something I want to point out- this is one of the main reasons why she’s so polite around new people, but once you’re close enough, she’s still polite but her speaking habit can change quite a bit. 

Next part, is why she loves stargazing! Well to make it simple, I have to tell you that there’s something interesting about the Ukrainian horoscope because the information about it is about history and the future. I’ve wanted to add her love for stars from this kinds of things because I found it really interesting!

Yulia Tymoshenko is a Sagittarian, who was born on November 27 1960.  She is very charismatic, and she’s famous for wearing her blonde hair in braids.

These were the traits. I didn’t completely copy her looks, of course- but it was lowkey based on this.

Now, her love life with Shizuya? Have you ever watched “A Million Dreams”? I first thought that a servant being in love with the person they serve under was cute, but this song leveled up my love for the ship and it made me see SO MUCH possibilities for them. [I love this movie a lot]

Ever since Shizuya was small, he wanted to be a chef. Normally, he’d serve food to Yuliya and they’d actually eat together by her request. He would tell her his dreams about being a great well known chef, and this started to inspire her to become one as well.

This part, it has been only sang by the boy and this heavily implies that Shizuya was the first one to fall for her, and then later on in the song, it becomes a duet. This shows that they’ve started to want to make their own world together basing it on the dreams they talked about together.

Remember the time when I have stated that Shizuya was the main reason why she began becoming happier? [She was happy from before, but once she met him her whole life got brighter because she was always so closed because she was that highly protected]

The special things I compile Each one there to make you smile On a rainy day

He keeps every single thing that he heard that makes her happy and every time she was sad, he would always come up to show her these things to make her smile- sometimes, he even retells memories he has with her.

Last part but the one that STROKE me most about the song, and how I loved how it perfectly matched Shizuya and Yuliya’s story which I used to be pretty histant about back then. This was a part of the song which the girl had a solo in and later on becomes a duet. She wanted to make Shizuya’s dream come true and she ended up following his steps. From there, her dreams started to change since she wants to be a part of his success- and she wanted to stand beside him as he followed his dreams.
