bruhhhhh i played dnd yesterday and we had this puzzle where we had to pull cards from the deck of many things to open a door and we needed a specific type of card (i think it went off of like hearts diamonds spades etc) and we kept pulling the wrong type of cards so we kept pulling. and my beloved, dumb, magic wary percy got a plus two to strength (22 strength!!), some white feathery glowing WINGS with a flying speed and all, and he aged ten years from this experiance. literally. a card made him AGE UP TEN YEARS. the dm said these dont take effect until after we complete the dungeon though. so he just DOESNT KNOW WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM. goodbye human fighter percival hello bird boy percival ig.
#technically they are celestial wings#which is really funny because percy isnt religious#yknow the gods disappearing for a few hundred years has that effect on belief#my dnd characters#new mental image of percy with feathers all over. like that girl from dungeon meshi my mutuals keep putting on my dash.#just ripping off his shirt.#god i need to do a redraw of that with him

I'm trans myself (as made evident by my pronouns....) and I won't be reblogging any harry potter stuff, only this to take an advantage to get my thoughts in one place.
Unless she who must not be named somehow does a major Uturn and donates a considerable amount to trans charities like mermaids, gendered intelligence or the Trevor project I will no longer give her a cent. I am still not sure what to do with my books and am leaving it to a less chaotic year. Harry potter meant a lot to me and got me through a rough time.
I'm trying to move forward as best as i can, which is up to the individual. :)
However, i do believe it is important to engage critically with some of the more problematic areas of the book alongside the praise. Recently people have been doing a lot of disecting and have come up with many ways in which harry potter is problematic. That does not mean it isnt the world we love.
Im not sure if i can enjoy it as that world anymore. I dont want to re read it and found its lost its spark. I do not believe i can seperate the art can be seperated from the artist but am very happy for any who can :) .
I will not support her in any way. Through increasing hype, recommending her books and any conversations i have about her moving forward will remain within closed doors. I am still figuring out how ill interact with the fandom.
Because she's done irreparable harm to trans people and the fandom. I also would like to point out that she was ableist too as its not something i see discussed.
And
There are so many authors that need lifting up.
(less lifting up and more great, funny author)
Rick Riordian, great author, great books and the diversity increases as the books go on. His first book series is Percy Jackson, which explores greek mythology and features a character with adhd and dyslexia. Later series have genderfluid, bi, lesbian and gay characters just off the top of my head, so please forgive me if ive missed some :). Also, religious diversity and people of colour. They are also absolutely hilarious books.
He gets things wrong, but always defers to the group. Also he has explicitly said that his interpretation of the book is nul as soon as the book is published. Its between the reader and the book.
He does his research and through riordian presents aims to uplift marginalised authors. Which, check those out too! Theres great stuff there! His blog posts and twitter account can be a joy. With some hilarious take downs of homophobes and transphobes :).
Also: the musical is great for any exsisting fans.
I havent read it but ive heard good things about dreadnought. Which is about a trans superero :). Own voices too as far as im aware.
Id recommend checking out own voices trans, queer or POC authors.
I know this is tough. It really is. But there are so many books that are waiting out there to be explored.
To all my fellow trans people.
Your beautiful and amazing.
It really makes the world feel insurmountable. But so many people have called she who must not be named out.
To the potterheads
Im sorry, this sucks. Harry Potter is an amazing series that a lot of us used as an escape. But there are so many other books waiting there. And however you choose to take this information and move on, wether through death to the author or erasing her completely, thats your choice.
To the allies.
Thank you so so much for standing up. You dont have to but you do and thats huge for us :)
To the undecided
Hi, have a nice day :)
Trans women are women
Trans men are men
Nonbinary people are Nonbinary.
-A random tiny blog that has very few followers (although do appreciate all... 19 Of you. Thanks for sticking around :)
Some thoughts as an angry Harry Potter fan: I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be a Harry Potter fan, and fan artist lately. My #1 priority right now is supporting the transgender community. Therefore I plan to never make any purchase that will support JK Rowling ever again. After all the hateful things she’s said and done, especially with the news about the subject matter of her next book, I can’t, and won’t support her anymore. Where does that leave Loquacious Literature and my comics? Does hating JKR mean I can’t like Harry Potter? I don’t know, honestly. This magical world that brought me joy, comfort and solace for over 20 years… suddenly feels tainted. My plan for now is to finish Obliviate Volume 3, which I’ve already been working on all year. And then to donate a large chunk of the profits to a few Trans charities. For now, I still plan on drawing comics, but I may switch gears to more original work, or other fandoms occasionally in the months and years to come. I hope that is ok with you. Let me know what you think - how have you all been coping? Are you trying to separate the author from the work? Are there any books you’d recommend to read that you wish there was more fanart for? 😅 I hope you’re all hanging in there. ❤️Katie
