Another one. For the past two hours, you’ve managed to break three scrunchies and your rat tail comb. You groaned in huge frustration, trying to figure out why your hair isn’t working out for you. “What the fuck?! Work with me, DAMN!” You harshly combed out your hair and SNAP! You looked at him and saw a concerned look on him, you asked, “Something wrong Bo?”

Finally, a style came to mind, one that was simple yet he loved seeing you in it. Before starting, he collected all of the supplies that were needed and got to work on your hair. At first it was silence surrounding the two of you until Bokuto excitedly started talking about how practice went.
“Y/N you should’ve seen me at practice today! The way I was hitting those spikes was literal perfection, I barely missed any. Oh, we had this five-on-five game today and I got to be team captain.”
“It brought back old memories didn’t it?” You smiled at the memory of seeing Bokuto in his high school uniform, fulfilling his captain role, putting a smile on his team's faces for scoring, and being one of the greatest aces in Japan of course.

“Anddd done y/n.” Bokuto scooted back the chair and got up from it, giving you room to get up and take a look at your hair. Your eyes widened and your jaw dropped at the work your boyfriend did. “After that failed attempt at doing your hair, your great boyfriend, that’s me, went on Youtube to learn how to do different hairstyles with your hair. I really loved this style and I spent hours learning it, but I say it was worth it.”
You smiled at his answer, it made you giddy inside that your boyfriend takes time out of his day to learn how to do your hair. Your hair! One that was definitely different from his natural spiked up hair. This kind of dedication made you fall in love with him even more than before.
You gave him a large smile and kissed him, “It was definitely worth it Bokuto cause I fucking love it. Plus I think it’s cute that you tried to match with the black and white rubber bands.”

It’s been almost a month now. Almost a month since she was involved in the murder and dismemberment of her professor’s husband who her and her classmates were sure was the killer of a college student by the name of Lila Stangard. A month and she still can’t stomach any of it - a month during which she hasn’t stomached much else either.
It all started the morning after the murder when she was still a distressed and disheveled mess, a nervous wreck that refused to leave the confinement and safety of her home and face the world out of fear of getting that stamp and punishment she knew she deserved. She knew she was basically a criminal in hiding. They all were and it was frustrating as all hell to see them all putting up with it so well like that murder wasn’t their first or their last. They almost came off as though they felt they did the right thing - rid the world of one more disgusting prick which Sam undoubtedly was, but that still wasn’t on them to decide. What they did was still a crime, they were still killers and would get charged as ones if this was ever to be found out by any law enforcement.
And Michaela Pratt could barely live with herself.
That first week her stomach was in constant knots that would tighten at the mere mention of food. Therefore, she lived solely on liquids that supplied her with faux energy and nothing nutritious that her body could work with. Then it became a habit. Well, it had more so to do with the fact that she looked in the mirror one day after showering and noticed the sudden change in her body, how it seemed smaller and, in her eyes, prettier than before. She liked the ‘improvement’ and wanted to hold onto it, linking it to her new eating habits she decided to stick to them. Though, they can’t really be called ‘eating habits’ considering she spent a great deal of time not eating anything at all, leaving large gaps between each tiny meal and drinking significantly more black coffee. She even developed the bad habit of smoking - a way for her to get out of the room whenever the rest of the Keating 5 were on a lunch break.
She hated the familiarity of it all, but there was also a certain dose of comfort to it. She had faced this demonic entity that resides within the very mind of the troubled person and that’s why she wasn’t scared. It felt more like opening the flood gates she had barely managed to shut and keep closed in the first place. Hell, it was almost relieving to open them up again, allow the inevitable to finally happen.
Having to lie about eating, having to renew her wardrobe with clothes of a smaller size - and some larger ones to hide the sudden change in - and dealing with dry and cracked skin, chipping nails and thinning hair were only few of the hiccups Michaela started facing when her weight loss became more significant and apparent, so much so that the Keating 5 were starting to worry. She was used to lying and making up stories about it. After all, this wasn’t her first time going down the dangerous lane that is undereating and abruptly losing a ton of weight. As mentioned, she dealt with it as a teenager for almost two years. Eventually, her lies started becoming see-through, causing her family to force her into recovery which eventually worked - took her a while to cooperate, but she managed to be convinced her life was to be lived properly. Her success was to be earned in more ways than boney limbs and vertigo every time she stood up. She came to the realization that the world was a crueler place than she had anticipated. It was a warzone she needed to be strong to face and, having become thin as a stick and mentally rattled she was terribly underprepared for facing and battling any of it.
Michaela Pratt decided she deserved better - chose to toughen up and take the bull of her life by the horns and control it properly. She finally became the one really in control - not her self-destructive side, but her rational, fighter side. The warrior in her decided enough was enough.
However, for her, there’s never such a thing as enough.
Sensing it was a delicate and rather triggering subject, the members around the Keating household were more than reluctant on touching the topic and asking at least one of the many questions they always had in mind.
Why do you suddenly wear such wide clothes?
Why do you no longer put sugar in your coffee?
What’s with those bags under your eyes? You haven’t been getting much sleep?
How come you always have a big breakfast even when you wake up late?
Why do you never eat?
Those and so many more questions swarmed the heads of her friends but none of them were brave enough to say anything. No one went to look for her around lunchtime to see where she goes to hide during that period. No one mentions their suspicions and doubts about her statements. No one dares to point out that she’s become a ghost of the Michaela they previously knew. She’s not as fierce as she used to be - not the same way. She just snaps at people, throwing empty insults at them. Her focus has dropped significantly and she often times falls asleep while on the clock, working on the case. They all see it but they all choose to be passive on-lookers, by-standers, no one sporting the guts and bravery to bring it up and ask her or express worry.
Well, no one except the brutally honest and straight forward Connor.
“And here I was wondering where our Shooting Star had fallen.“ He says, making his presence known verbally only after he snatched the pack of cigarettes from Michaela’s hand, startling her to no end. “Since when do you smoke, by the way?”
“None of your goddamn business.“ She hisses back at him, reaching for the stolen pack like an angry tigress. “Give them back, asshole.“
She’s stopped in her futile yet hostile attempts of retrieving the stolen cigarettes when Connor grabs one of her arms and develops a downright terrified look on his face: eyes wide, mouth hanging slightly open, confusion, shock and concern in his gaze. That’s a rare combination for him - someone who’s supposedly super laid-back and careless. That concern is what hits her the hardest. It catches her so off-guard she puts her movements to a halt and just stares back at him for a few seconds, both of them deciding what to say.
“Michaela, what have you done to yourself? What are you doing to yourself?“ He asks her, still not letting go of her arm which feels tiny in his grip. His fingers loosen their hold instinctively, as if afraid that any more pressure could break it. “Are punishing yourself for what happened to Sam?“
Michaela returns to her senses, shaking her head and frowning as she yanks her arm out of his grip. “Nothing happened to Sam!” She whisper-yells, narrowing her eyes, glaring at him with a fiery intensity, “Don’t talk like he died of a heart attack or in a car accident. We happened to him. We fucking killed him, Connor! Come to terms with that already!”
“Scream that louder, will ya? A more perfect confession doesn’t exist.“ Subtly, he slips the pack in the back pocket of his jeans, the movement flying under Michaela’s radar since she’s so laser-focused on his face and the subtle changes in his expressions. “Seriously, what the hell are you doing? Is this the punishment you think you deserve?”
She rolls her eyes, “That’s fucking nonsense. It’s no punishment, I just wanna fit into my wedding dress come the time I have to walk down the aisle.“
“So fitting into your wedding dress is the priority? Tell me, what will your hairdresser and make-up artist gonna say when they see your cracked and bruised skin, your thinned hair, the massive bags underneath your eyes. Also, are you even gonna fit in the dress or is it gonna hang on you the way it would on a stick figure.“

A choked sob escapes Michaela’s throat as a result of Connor’s speech. The last thing she expected was support and help - she was prepared for the mocking, the sympathy and pity, the ‘Seriously? Get over it, will ya?’ or the ‘It’s all in your head. Just eat, damn it.’ she grew used to hearing the first time she was dealing with an eating disorder. If she wasn’t still herself she would’ve probably even given him a hug - one she’d regret later - but she remained in her spot, arms folded over her chest, nodding slowly.
“Thank you, Connor. But it’s not as easy as you make it sound.“ She sniffles, her gaze wandering elsewhere, embarrassed by how she broke down in front of him just now. Lord knows she’ll be even more pissed later, but right now she’s got other things on her mind. Something she hadn’t even brushed upon before this conversation with Connor - recovery. She’s not used to seeking help from anyone for anything, especially not something she saw as her superpower until someone forced her eyes open. Forced the epiphany on her that she’s not living, she’s killing herself.
“Of course it’s not easy. That’s why no one does it alone, you know.“ Hesitantly, very very hesitantly, he lifts his hand, cautiously placing it on Michaela’s shoulder. “People reach out for support and go talk to professionals. You don’t have to do this alone. In fact, you can’t do this alone.“ He pauses, waiting for her gaze to meet his. When it does, he continues, “I won’t let you.“
Never did Michaela expect support from anyone, never did she want or need it. But here she is receiving it from the person she thought least likely to offer it. Never did she think there’d come a day when her arms, as if on autopilot would, wrap around Connor Walsh in a tight embrace of gratitude. While pretty startled, he manages to return the hug after blinking once or twice to comprehend the situation.
“Thank you.“ He hears her whisper and that’s more than he ever thought he’d get from her.
“Don’t mention it.“ He lets a small smile slip onto his face as his hold on her tightens ever so slightly.

Birthdays were never something Lucien had looked forward to before; after his family died, he got taken in by Black Swan to be experimented on and the only celebration he got was singing ‘happy birthday’ to himself in a dark room when he should be asleep instead. This year was different though, Lucien had someone wonderful waiting for him back home. He knew that as soon as he walked through the door, she’d greet him with a bright smile and a warm hug, and that those two things would light up his world. Birthday candles, fireworks, and sparklers are nice, but the way she set his heart on fire is the light Lucien has craved all his life.
This was the first time Lucien was anxious to leave his office - turning off the lights, closing the door, and locking it would signify that he had something worth returning home for, and the entire day while running labs, Lucien kept stealing glances at the watch she had gifted him one day (‘just because’) bound around his wrist, willing the minute hand to move faster. Alas, that only caused the time to tick by slower than he wanted, so Lucien eventually gave up, only looking at the clock to keep track of time sensitive subjects, despite him still wanting to anxiously check the watch every free second of the day.
Once he finished his lab, Lucien had sent a summary to his advisor and logged off, ready to spend the rest of his birthday weekend completely disconnected from work; ready to find his way into her arms and not move until Monday morning, which was the next time either of them had to go into work. She promised him a whole weekend dedicated to Lucien, so he plans to take advantage of every second she’s around him.
Lucien’s walk back to his apartment was mindless, the autumn breeze was turning his cheeks pink but he didn’t mind it; it was almost welcomed since it proved he was actually human, which was something he was convinced for the longest time he wasn’t. She had helped him think differently, helped him believe he wasn’t the machine he was taught he should be, helped him learn to love again - which was something he didn’t think would happen after his parents had passed.
The elevator ride up to his apartment was the best kind of torture anyone could ask for. It was agonizing, knowing she was in his apartment right now waiting for him and he was stuck on a stupid elevator. He should have taken the stairs; with the amount of poorly cooked sweets she was going to push on Lucien this weekend, he knew that by Monday he would probably put on a few pounds. He didn’t mind though, not really, the thought of her caring enough to bake sweets for him put Lucien in the best kind of mood. It was a mood that only she could bring out in him.
The elevator bell rang out, and it was like all of Lucien’s anxieties fell away as the doors parted. Only a few more steps and he would be in her intoxicating presence, he would be able to be himself; no facades, no fake smiles, no more lying to himself - Lucien could just be him, with all his faults and flaws. Despite those flaws, he was loved dearly, and that brought a warm feeling to his chest and butterflies to his stomach.
When his hand was resting on the door knob, Lucien took a deep breath before opening the door. On the other side, he heard pots and pans clanging around, as well as some off key humming. She wasn’t expecting him back so soon and the picture of surprise on her face that he had conjured up in his mind made him feel more at home than he’s ever felt in the tiny apartment he’s been calling home.
As soon as he walked in, Lucien headed towards the kitchen, where he knew he would find her. Sure enough, she was standing over his oven, pouring some cake batter in a round pan. Making his way over to her, Lucien wrapped his arms around her middle, right where her apron was already tied, and rested his chin on the top of her head.
“Hi love,” she didn’t turn to look at him, still focusing on not over pouring the pan and making a mess in his otherwise clean kitchen. “You’re here early.”
Lucien could almost picture the pout on her face, upset that he had come back earlier and ruined her ‘surprise’. “I couldn’t stay away from you.” One thing he had promised was to be completely honest with her, so he answered with the first thing that came to mind. “I was actually excited for my birthday this year, because I get to spend it with you.”
She turned in his arms then, her already pink cheeks even more colored than normal. Lucien’s arms went from around her waist to his hands resting on her hips, pulling her as close as possible. “You came back too early! You spoiled my surprise!”
“Oh, because you’ve never made me sweets before on special occasions?” He was teasing her, only because he loved to see her blush and wanted to prolong it. He leaned down so his nose was brushing hers, her sweet breath dancing over his lips alluded to her taste testing some of the cake batter. “Can I help you with anything?”
She bit her lip, something she always did when she pretended to think. “You can sit down and relax. You deserve it, birthday boy.”
Lucien then leaned down and pressed a chase kiss to her lips before pulling away and shaking his hair from his eyes, smiling softly at her. “Yes ma’am, I’ll be in the living room. There is a book I was looking forward to reading and haven’t gotten the chance yet.”
As he left the kitchen, she called for him. “Lucien!” When he turned and met eyes with hers, she winked at him. “Take a shower first, you kinda smell like outside.”
He nodded his head in acknowledgement, grateful she told him. If he smelled like that now, most likely later on his skin would begin to itch because of the irritation and he didn't want that, he wanted to spend the whole night with her, as comfortable as possible.
Slipping into the bathroom, Lucien stripped down, letting the shower water heat up while he took his time to wash his face in the sink and take out his contacts. As he slipped in the warm water, he felt his muscles relax; the warm water was comforting, it was somewhere Lucien always felt safe. No matter where he was, he could always find some comfort about standing under scalding hot water. Knowing that she was just a few rooms over was a bonus and made him feel even more safe than normal.
“Lucien?” Her voice rang through the bathroom door, bright and clear, and Lucien shut off the water, toweling off his hair before wrapping the towel around his waist. He opened the door so rather than talking through a wall, they could talk face to face. “Oh… I was just going to ask if you wanted me to grab you some new clothes to wear.” She kept her eyes locked on his face, refusing to look down and lose her composure. “Thank you darling,” Lucien replied, reaching for his glasses. When he glanced back at her, he found her eyes travelling over his bare torso. “I think I’ll stay like this, if you don’t mind.” He wouldn’t stay like that, of course, but Lucien wanted to see her reaction and how she would respond.
“Of course I don’t mind, I’ll just have to make sure to look only at your face.”
She swallowed hard as Lucien stepped closer to her, leaning down so his breath danced over her ear. “I’m only joking… I wouldn’t be that much of a tease. Yet.” He nipped at her earlobe before pulling back and moving to leave the bathroom. “I’ll be in my room getting dressed. Meet you in the living room after?” She nodded, stepping aside to let him through the small doorway and Lucien grinned to himself at the shiver that ran down her spine as he squeezed her shoulder affectionately.
Dressing himself in some joggers and a black turtleneck, Lucien quickly made his way back to her, sitting down on his small couch by her feet. Once he settled, Lucien pulled her feet into his lap and started massaging them. “Tell me about your day.”
“Mine?” He nodded, his eyes never leaving her face. He wanted to take in everything about her, every expression was so intriguing and he loved seeing new ones he hadn’t discovered yet. “Well… I slept in, and then I snuck over here after making sure you were gone. I was hoping to get your cake done before you got home, but someone had to come back early.” She took the foot that wasn’t currently in his hand and prodded his stomach with her big toe.
“I was excited to spend the rest of tonight and all of tomorrow with you, I’m sorry.” Lucien dropped his hands from her foot and she frowned before crawling over to him and straddling him.
“Hey,” she took his face in her hands and forced Lucien to look in her eyes. “You’ve got nothing to be sorry about. I was just teasing, I love every second I spend with you.”
Without responding, Lucien closed the distance between the two of them, his mouth reaching for hers while his arms encircled her and pulled her body so her torso was flush with his own. Her gasp was quickly swallowed as Lucien captured her bottom lip between his own and suckled softly.
Running his hands up and down her back Lucien eventually slipped his hands under her shirt and explored her bare skin, his fingertips skimming the edges of her bra before returning to her stomach. While his hands were occupied, she took advantage of hers being free and she rubbed up and down slowly on his chest, her warm palms continually brushing Lucien’s nipples and igniting a heat in his lower stomach that only she could start.
The timer on the oven let out an obnoxious sound and she pulled back from Lucien. Taking a deep breath, Lucien opened his eyes and couldn’t help but laugh. His glasses were completely fogged up and he could hardly see the woman sitting on his lap. Pushing them up on his head, he reached out and smoothed down her mussed hair.
“I should, um… I should go check on the cake.” She stood up and smoothed out her shirt and glanced at Lucien once more, biting her lip.
“I’ll come with,” he responded cooly, pulling his neck on his sweater back in place. It had moved while the girl was kissing his neck, not that he was complaining. “I want to help frost the cake.”
“Darling,” she brought the cake out of the oven and the delicious smell washed over Lucien. He had to admit that it was turning out better than he had originally expected. “The cake has to sit in the fridge for quite some time before we frost it, it has to cool down first.”
Lucien glanced past the girl who’s back was turned from him, his eyes zeroing in on the frosting sitting on the counter. Silently, he grabbed it, opening it as quietly as possible. Dipping his finger into the sweet creamy substance, he rubbed it on the exposed part of her neck. “Guess I’ll have to find something else to frost in the meantime, huh?” He was taunting her, waiting to see her next move before continuing.
She turned towards him, a mischievous look twinkling in her eyes before dipping her hand in the frosting jar that Lucien was holding tightly. She smeared it on his jawline, trailing a line up to his lips. When her fingers reached his lips, he opened his mouth and sucked them in, slowly licking the sweetness off of them before pulling off with a pop.
Without saying anything, Lucien then leaned down and licked the frosting off her neck, the saltiness of her sweat from standing by a heated oven had mixed with the sweetness of the frosting and was mouthwatering; the taste of her was so intoxicating to Lucien that all he wanted was to taste even more of her. Lucien could feel her heartbeat stutter and she started giggling once his lips grazed the back of her ear, the spot right behind her earlobe that he knew drove her crazy.
Lucien tapped the back of her thighs, right under her butt and she took his signal, wrapping her arms around his neck as their lips connected, wrapping her legs around his waist as he gripped her body tightly. He sat her on the counter and broke apart to brace both of his hands on either side of her, one of them resting firmly on the counter, the other sinking into something sticky and soft. The cake. “I might have just ruined your cake.”
Her eyes widened and followed Lucien’s gaze to his hand, covered in warm, sticky yellow batter that had yet to cool down from the oven. “Lucien!”
Her tone called his name so disappointedly, unlike how she had called it only a few brief moments ago. Hanging his head, Lucien didn’t meet her eyes. “I’m sorry. It was a mistake. We can go out later and buy more batter… and frosting, for that matter.”
Silently, she reached over and grabbed a dish towel and took his cake covered hand in hers and gently started cleaning off the mess. “It’s alright. We had fun, and that’s what matters. It’s your birthday, we do what you want… You did have fun, right?”
Her soft eyes finally caught his and Lucien’s breath caught in his throat. She looked so beautiful in that moment, her chest moving up and down with every breath and her cheeks were flushed, which went well with the sparkle in her eyes. “Of course I had fun, I’m with you.” Lucien ducked his head and captured her mouth with his own in a sweet kiss. “I think we’ve got a bit of a mess to clean up.”
She grinned at Lucien before pulling off his glasses and setting them to the side. Stretching her body up, she took Lucien’s face in her hands and his immediately flew to her back, tracing her spine up and down, repeating those movements as she obnoxiously licked the frosting on his jaw, her hot breath and tongue on his skin caused him to let out a loud laugh when her tongue met his lips.
She pulled away from him and nodded in satisfaction before holding out her arms in a silent way of asking Lucien to help her off the counter. Once her feet had landed on the floor, she reached up to pluck an invisible thread off Lucien’s shoulder. “Do you want your regular order from the ramen shop down the street?” She pinched Lucien’s butt as he bent over to pick up some of the broken cake pieces off the floor.
“Yes, please. Thank you, darling.” Lucien dropped the pieces into the garbage before heading over to the sink to wash off the cake. He watched as his love exited the kitchen, already dialing the ramen shop’s phone number. Lucien’s heart warmed as he heard her greet the person on the other end before rambling off his rather complicated order from memory. The fact that she took the time to memorize it meant the world to him, and he wasn’t particularly sure how to express that out loud. Lucien’s only wish this year was that he could finally figure out how to share every emotion he felt towards her.
Lucien finished up in the kitchen and headed back to the living room. She was sitting on the couch, her feet propped up on the coffee table and as her eyes met his own, she beckoned Lucien over. He sat down and she took his hand, guiding his body to lay along the length of the couch, his head in her lap. She immediately took to rubbing Lucien’s scalp and he felt the tension melt away, his jaw unclench, and he sunk more into her body.
“I wish every single day could be like this.” Lucien mused, turning his body so his face was buried in her stomach. She leaned down, pressed a kiss to the top of his head before resuming the patterns she was tracing. “No responsibilities, no cares in the world. Just me and you, two people who love each other.”
She didn’t respond at first, just hummed in response to Lucien’s wistful thinking. “If we did this every day, it wouldn’t be special anymore.” Lucien started tracing patterns on her thigh, trying to match what she was doing on his scalp. “I like the fact that this is only something we do sometimes because then we never get sick of it and take advantage.”
“I suppose you’re right.” Lucien moved to sit up and she slowly let go of her grip on him. Once he was upright and his thigh was pressing against hers, he settled an arm comfortably around her shoulder. “Still, we should do it more than twice a year.”
“I think we can manage that,” she agreed, leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to Lucien’s lips. No matter how many times she kissed him, it always felt like the first to Lucien. He always wanted to savor the taste of her, not that it was a taste he could ever forget, it was one that was ingrained in the back of his brain.
The doorbell rang and she and Lucien pulled apart. She motioned for him to stay, holding her hands out like you would a dog or toddler. “Don’t move. Let me get the food.”
She returned with a plastic bag filled with an abundance of food and she set it down on the table before setting everything out. “So, I ordered your ramen, but I also ordered some extras. Figured we could eat leftovers tomorrow.”
Lucien smirked at her, nudging her side. “Who says there’ll be leftovers with you around?”
Her cheeks reddened and Lucien found a genuine smile forming on his face. “I’ll have you know I have some restraint! Especially since I don’t think either of us will want to leave this apartment tomorrow...” She looked down into the noodles on her lap, grinning to herself.
“Oh, and what will we be doing that we won’t want to leave?”
“Eat your ramen and stop teasing! You don’t want it to get cold.” She slurped up a noodle and Lucien let out a bark of laughter as it flew up to hit her nose.
The rest of dinner was quiet, both of them lost in their own heads. Lucien continued to reflect on his past while he sucked down the noodles, but he was not looking back in a negative light. He thought about how if everything was different leading up to this moment, he might have never met this girl again after meeting as children. And Lucien would go through hell and back if it meant having his only source of color in his life.
“If you want to go wash up, I’ll put away the leftovers.” Lucien had finished his ramen and waited until she had almost finished hers before speaking.
“That sounds great, I’ll go put on some pajamas.” She pressed a quick kiss to his lips before getting up and heading to his room and Lucien quickly gathered the containers and set them in his fridge, throwing out the empty ones in his small garbage can.
“Lucien! I have a surprise for you, go sit down on the couch!” She called from his bedroom, her voice muffled by the door. Lucien complied, setting down comfortably in the middle of his large couch. “Close your eyes!” The bedroom door cracked open and her head stuck out. “No peeking!”
Lucien’s eyes closed and all he could do was sit and wait for her next move. He heard the door creak open and then he heard her footsteps advance towards him. She settled in his lap, straddling him much like she did earlier in the same spot. Lucien put his hands out and rested them on her hips, only to be met with bare skin. Opening his eyes, his mouth dropped slightly as he took her in.
She was wearing nothing but one of the lab coats that he had hanging in his closet. It hung loosely on her body, none of the buttons were done up, and it was falling off of one shoulder. “Happy birthday to you,” she tried to sing in what Lucien assumed was supposed to be a seductive voice, but in all actuality he had to hold back a bout of laughter. “Happy birthday to you.” Her arms draped around his shoulder and when her hair brushed his nose, Lucien felt his breath hitch in his throat. “Happy birthday, Mr. Professor.” She leaned in to brush her lips against his ear and nip at the lobe and Lucien’s hands tightened on her waist. At this point, he was probably leaving bruises but he didn’t care; all it did was remind her of him days after they had last been together. “Happy birthday to you.” Her lips brushed against his own with the last part of her song and before she could say anything, Lucien crashed his lips into hers.
He quickly hoisted her up, her legs wrapping around his waist as he walked her to his bedroom, his lips never leaving hers. Lucien gently laid her down on the fresh linen sheets before covering her body with his own. “May I receive my birthday present now?”
She pulled away from him to pull off his sweater before bringing Lucien back down to her, stopping right before their lips met once more. “It’ll be my pleasure. And yours.” With a giggle, she kissed Lucien and a laugh bubbled in his chest and he let it out as she kissed down his neck, butterflies forming in his stomach the farther down she kissed.
Lucien’s life was dull before he met her, he saw everything in black and white. But only after meeting her one time, he knew she’d be able to bring some color into his world. What he didn’t know was that she’d deliver the color with a cacophony of fireworks that erupted every time he was in her presence, much like the butterflies that swirled in his stomach when she sent even a small smile in his direction. Not that he would change it though; no, Lucien wouldn’t take back any moment in his past because it all led up to this: being safe and warm in her arms.

Robert Moss: First Day of School
“What is this?” Robert angrily demanded as he slammed a class schedule on the kitchen counter in front of Delta.
Without looking at him or the schedule he took a sip of her morning coffee and responded, “Those are the classes you’ll be taking starting next week. We know that you haven’t been going to school for some time, and I have decided that it would be best for the team if you also worked out your mind as well as your body.”
“Bu-but,” the young teen took a deep breath, “but I didn’t join the Alliance to go to school--I joined because I want to get to the same level as those on Team B and Team A!”
Delta looked down at him from the side, “As long as you remain dumb and ignorant you will never be on their level. You will go to Townsville High Monday to Friday, and you will not skip any of your classes. I have requested Adam and Zuri to keep an eye on you and make sure you are on the school grounds during school hours. If you do go to your classes there will be consequences, understood?”
Robert wanted to object but as he looked her in the eye he just frowned and nodded. He knew she was strong and a great leader, and he respected her commands even when he didn’t agree with them. “Yes ma’am.” He picked his schedule back up and walked back to his room. As he walked he passed Zuri and Adam and slipped them a pouted glare.
“What’s his problem?” Zuri made a face back at him.
Back in his room, Robert slammed the door and threw himself on his bed. This would be the first time he’d ever go to school. The last three years he had Cherry and Boss teach him what he needed to know to survive living on the streets, and before that he learned some things in the science lab. Was school like how shows and movies made it look? Drama about romance, teen girl fights in the hall, clique arguments? ‘What if I get made fun of and they all don’t like me?’ He sat up and frowned at himself in the mirror, then smirked after seeing his reflection. “Nah, I’m too handsome for anyone to make fun of!” He shook his head as he fed his ego.
Robert was humming to himself as he brushed his hair, getting ready for the big day ahead of him. He had woken up two hours early and had already gone for his morning swim, his strength workout, taken a shower to smell fresh and clean and eaten breakfast. Since today he decided to switch up his look and dressed in a white button up shirt tucked into light seafoam green pants and finished the outfit with laced up white vans. One last brush and finished! He smiled proudly to himself and winked, “Looking good like always!~”
With a knock on his door, Zuri called out, “Are you done looking at yourself yet? We have to make our way to the school now. I wanted to hang out with Gigi before classes start!” Robert took one deep breath as he stared at his reflection, getting rid of any nerves that were trying to make their way up.
Opening his door he smirked at Zuri, “How can I not look at myself when I look this good?” He did a few poses to show off his pampered self while Zuri rolled her eyes and walked away. “Hey! I wasn’t done showing off how good I look!” Closing his door he ran after her and they, along with Adam, made their way to their private driver--which was curtesy of the Alliance. Within twenty minutes they were in front of Townsville High.
Getting out of the car Robert looked up at the school and was only shocked for a second. It was pretty big for a school--didn’t these things usually only have one building? There were multiple! But those were the only things that impressed the young teen. As the three of them walked up to Gigi who had been waiting for them, Robert looked around while Zuri elbowed Adam playfully causing him to blush. It was similar to a mall that there were teens everywhere, which was good for him because he enjoyed hanging out with people his age.
Gigi waved excitedly at Adam, who shyly waved back blushing and quickly made his way into the school alone. She looked at Zuri and Robert questioningly which they just shrugged and walked into the building together. “It’s really cool that you’re going to be going to school with us Robert!” She threw an arm over his shoulder and brought him in for a side hug. “Lucky for you, you have a cool and awesome older friend who can tell you the ins and out, the whose and what’s, and the best places to hang out!”
“Already covered all of that in the car ride here,” Zuri smirked as she too wrapped her arm around Robert’s neck. Gigi pouted and Robert laughed at her reaction.
“Don’t worry, Gigi,” Robert smiled at the blonde, “since I’m new I’m going to need some help. So please be my ‘cool and awesome older friend’ who makes sure I don’t make a fool of myself.” She nodded with a grin and threw an arm up in a cheer.
They showed Robert where his locker was, got his books from the school library, and showed him where his first class was. “This is your first period; 9th Grade English with Mr. Go,” Zuri gestured to the entrance of the classroom, “a warning before you see him. He looks big and intimidating, but he’s a big softie who is really into helping his students.” Gigi nodded along in agreement. “The rest of your classes are pretty close by, so just pay attention to the numbers by the classroom doors and hopefully you won’t get lost too much on your first day. We’ll see you at lunch, don’t make any trouble!” Gigi and Zuri waved as they walked to their first period class.
As he opened the door and walked in, all eyes were on the new kid in the classroom. Mr. Go stood up and Robert immediately realized why Zuri said he looked big and intimidating--the guy was huge! He walked up to him and reached out his hand, “Hello, you must be Robert! It’s great to have you in our class. Once the bell rings I’ll have you introduce yourself to the rest of the students and we’ll start our first day! If you ever need any help, please don’t be shy with asking me anything.” He pointed to a seat in the second to last row, “no one is currently assigned to that seat, so that’s where you’ll be sitting. Get your materials out and get comfortable because there’s about seven minutes before class starts.” He smiled, then walked back to his desk and took a seat.
Robert, unsure of what he needed, looked around the classroom and saw that some students had their notebooks, their copy of Lord of the Flies, and a pen or pencil so he copied them. He had noticed since he walked in that a few students were talking and looking at them, and he smirked at the thought of them talking about how good he looked. A few classmates came up and introduced themselves and made some small talk, but none of them were very memorable.
The “bell” sounded more like a loud buzzer and it made him jump. “Alright class, in your seats! You know when the bell goes off it’s time to start the day’s learning. I know you all have noticed a new face in our class, and I’m going to give him the floor so he can introduce himself.” Mr. Go gestured to Robert who nodded and stood up.
Loving the attention, Robert smiled as he spoke, “My name is Robert. I like swimming; I actually have swam a few times in local competitions where I used to live. I also making myself look good all the time, because I do not like looking like a mess in front of other people. I also love taking walks on the beach,” at his last statement he laughed to himself and winked at the student to his right, causing them to blush with a confused look on his face.
Mr. Go laughed as well as Robert sat down. “You seem like a character Robert, so I know you’re going to fit in well with the class. Now we’re going to start class by reading the next chapter in Lord of the Flies. Last class we finished chapter two, so can everyone please open to the start of chapter three.” As everyone opened their books and found the page, Hue’s eyes scanned the room, and his eyes met Robert’s. “Robert, since you’re new how about you take the honor and read the first page of chapter three?”
Nodding, Robert looks down at the page and began to read. The way he read was slow and choppy, and he made multiple pauses to slowly sound out words. It took him about seven minutes to read the entire page, and as Mr. Go thanked him with an awkward smile and moved on to picking the next student, Robert could feel the rest of his classmates talking about him and giving him weird looks. His ego was deflated and he felt weird, his shoulders felt tense and his stomach felt like it was flipping around inside of him. The rest of class didn’t get better, they had a group conversation about the book and he didn’t know how to take part in and they had to write and he wasn’t able to finish and was lucky to have at least wrote a page. First period ended, and Robert put his writing face down on Mr. Go’s desk and quickly waved goodbye before he had the chance to look at his work.
Second period went even worse than first, and by the time the lunch bell rang he was ready to go home. ‘I don’t get any of this. Why does any of this matter? Haven’t seen Adam or Zuri since before classes started, so how would they know if I skip my other two classes?’ He then remembered that the teachers took attendance and Zuri has most likely been hacking into the school’s system to make sure he had been in his classes. He groaned and not looking where he was going, accidentally bumped shoulders with another student. He looked at them and saw it was a girl with blonde hair and looked like someone poured 90s fashion all over her and dyed it all pink.
“I’m sorry,” the girl apologized.
“No, it was my fault. I’m sorry,” Robert mumbled and walked away before she could reply.
Having followed a crowd of kids to the cafeteria, he looked around and couldn’t find Gigi, Zuri, or Adam anywhere in the mob of teens. As he took out his phone from his pocket to text one of them, someone shoved him as they walked passed him causing him to drop his phone. “The hell!” He bent down to pick it up and tried to glare at the jerk that bumped him, but was shocked when he saw who it was. “Vain?!”
The said teen turned around and looked down at him, looked surprised for a second, then smirked. “Well, well, well, I didn’t know you went to Townsville High.”
Wiping the dirt off his pants, Robert shook his head as he stood up. “I didn’t before today. This is my first day here.”
“Hopefully not being a complete loser,” Vain circled around Robert, “because last time I saw you was last year at the local swimming meet behind me and losing.” He then leaned in to Robert and whispered in his ear, “do you think others would find it weird that you’ve been living in Townsville all this time but haven’t been attending school? Hopefully word doesn’t get out.”
Robert’s eyes flashed red for a second and he snapped at Vain, yelling out, “Why don’t you just mind your own business!?” The students that were around the two all turned and looked at them.
A hand was placed on Robert’s shoulder, pulling him back and he heard Zuri’s voice, “There you are Robert! Already making friends I see. Hey there, hope he wasn’t being too friendly with ya,” Zuri gave Vain a friendly yet deadly glare and he scoffed.
Before he could reply another familiar face walked up in the form of Mr. Go, “I heard some yelling over here. Not fighting now, are we?” He gave all three teens a look, and with a frown Vain shook his head.
“Why of course not, sir,” he then looked Robert and Zuri and then looked back at the adult. “If you don’t mind I’m going to go eat lunch.” Without getting a response he walked off.
Mr. Go shook his head as he looked at the two teens still in front of him. “Thank you, Zuri, for helping Robert here out. It’s good to see that he’s already made some friends while he’s been here--I know being new to a big school like this can be hard to adjust to.” Zuri and Robert shared an eyebrow raised look, if only he really knew. “Though if you wouldn’t mind, I’d like to talk to Robert for a minute.”
Not having an excuse to argue Zuri nodded her head. “After you’re done talking to Mr. Go, you can come sit over there with us,” she gestured to a far off table where he finally spotted Gigi and left to go sit with her.
With a smile Robert looked up at his teacher, “What’s up Mr. Go?”
The man had a bead of sweat roll down the side of his face as he rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. “I saw this morning you were having a hard time in class, and I’ve talked to your second period teacher and found out you had a difficult time in their class as well. I know it’s your first day, but I could tell that you’re quite behind academically. So I...” he hesitated, feeling bad and mumbled, “I hate doing this.” He took a deep breath and looked Robert in the eyes, “I sent an email to your guardian. You’re not in trouble, but I don’t want you to fall even more behind.”
From there all Robert could think about was what would happen when he got home. How was Delta going to react?

Finally home, and instead of running to his room to hide, Robert walked into the kitchen and found Delta sitting and waiting at the dining table. Nervous, he sat down as well and waited for her to speak first.
“First day of school and already getting emails from your teacher? I know this is all new to you, but I never expected I would get news so quick.” She looked at him and noticed his head was down, his eyes looked sad, and his hands were clenched into fists. She picked up the mug that sat in front of her and took a sip of her tea. “I know you feel disappointed in yourself. You’re a crucial member of this team, and you feel you’ve let us all down by being so behind in school.” She placed a hand on his head and smiled, “But you haven’t.”
Robert looked up at her in surprise. He’d expected her to be mad, to get yelled at, or even a punishment of some kind. It’s what he was used to. But Delta wasn’t like that. She is understanding, she’s smart, she’s a good leader and knows how to help her comrades--that made Robert’s respect for her grow even more. Giving him a couple pats on the head she folded her hands in front of her.
“Luckily for you there are ways to help you out with your schooling. You’re going to go to tutoring after school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.” He looked at her in horror as she continued to speak, “it will be good for you to get the extra help so you can get to where you need to be.” Robert rubbed his face in annoyance; he understood why but it was just going to take time out of other things he could be doing. “I also heard that you almost got into a fight today during lunch--”
“Who told you--” Robert tried to interrupt her while he spoke but immediately stopped talking when she gave him a cold look.
She sighed. “Because of your ‘almost’ fight and the large amount of information the Alliance apparently failed to collect on you, you will be seeing a professional psychologist by the name of Jocelyn Drakken every other Tuesday.” Robert made a face at the therapist’s last name, wasn’t that-- “yes, she is Charles’ younger sister.” Delta got up from the table and pushed in her chair. Before leaving she told Robert, “I know you will be able to handle the additions to your schedule and will work hard to improve mentally and emotionally. You are an amazing member to this team and we wouldn’t be as strong without you. Just know that all of this extra work doesn’t give you an excuse to skip your strength and combat training.”
Robert groaned as she gave him another pat on the head and left the kitchen with a soft smile. She was happy that he had a teacher like Hue that cared about their students’ education.
‘That actually could have gone a lot worse,’ he thought to himself and smiled while he stared out the window to the beautiful view of the beach.

LOOKS LIKE WE’RE SOULMATES
@korrasami-valentine-exchange this is my fic for the exchange! I’m Soulmates A. I hope I’m posting it correctly.
Summary: With Valentine’s Day drawing near, Korra and Asami just want to find their soulmate.

KORRA SLUMPED BACK on her pillow, growling at her computer. She absolutely hated essays. Give her a model to make or a poster to design and she’d have it done in minutes, but essays took her centuries. At this point she would drop out if it meant she’d never have to write another essay.
“Essays again?” Opal, her roommate asked from her bunk below.
“What, like I’d be complaining about anything else right now?” Korra retorted, leaning over to glare at her friend.
“You’re either complaining about essays or not finding your soulmate yet.”
Korra rubbed her wrist, where her soul mark was. It was a dark crescent moon that would change color after she met her soulmate. It was as dark as ever. “I’m totally walking into this, but it’s just unfair! You found Bolin years ago, and Mako found Wu soon after! I’m the only one in our friend group who hasn’t found them.”
Opal sighed and set down her book. They had this conversation practically three times a day, and each time Opal suggested something new that Korra would refuse. Today was no different. Glaring at Korra, her friend stood from her bunk. “Maybe if you didn’t cover your wrists all the time, you’d find them.”
Korra shrank back. She always covered her wrists when she left her dorm, either with bracelets or long sleeves. Most people her age were blissfully happy with their soulmate by now, and she didn’t need the embarrassment of being alone. “What if they don’t even live nearby? What if I go my whole life without finding them? What if — what if they’re dead?” Korra choked out the last question. She didn’t want to think about her soulmate being gone. She didn’t even know them, and yet the idea of never meeting them — of never being able to meet them — was unthinkable.
Opal sighed. “You’re overthinking this. You’ll meet them eventually. It could take a long time, but you won’t live your whole life without them. It’s practically impossible.”
“I hope you’re right.”

ASAMI CURSED AS she dropped her wrench. Twisting around to grab it without getting out from under the car, she half-expected someone to offer her help or ask if she was okay — like her father normally would.
No one came.
Which was expected, since she was the only one currently working, but it still got lonely. Ever since her father had died a year ago, she had been forced to run the mechanics shop with few employees and questionable schedules.
And with no friends, it got incredibly lonely all the time. Before, at least she had had her father and the few other employees. But after he had died, they had all gone to different companies. Companies that could pay better. And so now, she was alone.
Often, she wondered what it would be like to have found her soulmate. To have someone who loved her no matter what. Someone who was destined to be with her, to love her. To have someone always there for her, who wouldn’t ever leave her. It was starting to be a foreign feeling.
Her gaze landed on her gloved wrist that held her soul mark — a dark crescent moon. She checked it daily after work on the off chance that one of her customers was them, and was always looking for someone with the same mark. So far, she’d had no such luck.
Asami went back to her job, thoughts of finding her soulmate in increasingly unrealistic ways filling her mind. When she finished, she pushed herself out from under the car and started putting her tools away, freezing when she caught sight of someone standing in the doorway.
That someone was a very pretty girl. Her dark hair was cut short around her shoulders, framing her face and making her friendly smile and blue eyes look even prettier. Her skin was a warm brown, and she wore sweatpants and a blue Republic City University hoodie. She looked mildly familiar, but she couldn’t place why, and it didn’t explain why her heart started beating faster or why she felt the urge to make sure she had no grease stains on her face.
“I was starting to think no one was here,” said the girl, looking around. “It’s really empty.”
“I’m the only one working today,” Asami responded. “You can always knock, and if no one repsonds just give us a call and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.”
The girl smiled as Asami approached her. She played with her gloves, nearly taking them off before realizing her soul mark would show, and she didn’t want this girl to see it — didn’t want the pity. So she settled for resting them by her sides.
“What can I do for you?” Asami asked.
The girl jerked her head in the direction of the parking lot. “My car has been making weird noises for the last few days.”
Asami nodded. “Which one is yours?”
The girl led her to her car, an old blue thing. “This is it.”
Asami walked around it, looking at it from different angles. “I’ll probably have to keep it overnight and look at it tomorrow. It’s almost closing time.” Asami looked up and met the girl’s eyes, and quickly looked away, hoping her blush wasn’t noticeable. “How should I contact you?”
“You can call me or send me a text,” the girl said. “I’m Korra, by the way.”
Of course she was Korra, Asami thought as she handed her her phone. Korra was the star player on the soccer team, and incredibly popular. They had a few classes together, but had never really spoken.
“I’m Asami,” she said, taking her phone back from Korra.
“I know,” said Korra, then quickly added, “I mean — it was on the information site. That you owned this place.”
Asami smiled. “I do.”
The silence dragged on, neither making a move to end it.
Korra cleared her throat. “So, you’ll call me when you’re done?”
“Yep.”
“Great, I can’t wait!”

KORRA RAN FORWARD and kicked the ball. And completely missed the goal.
She growled. She didn’t know what was going on, but she’d been off balance ever since she had taken her car to Future Industries Mechanics. She couldn’t shake Asami out of her mind. Her green eyes, the way her hair shone in the light and looked really fluffy. They say she kept playing with her gloves, the grease stain across her cheek. She wanted to know Asami Sato, and she wasn’t sure why.
“That’s the third time you’ve missed the goal today,” her coach, Kuvira, said. “What’s going on?”
Korra sighed and rubbed her forehead. “I don’t know. I’ll do better tomorrow, I promise.”
“You better. We have a game next week, and we need you in top shape,” Kuvira said with crossed arms. Then she lowered her voice and asked, “Did you find your soulmate?”
If it was anyone else, she probably would have punched them, but Kuvira was almost a friend to her — a friend who happened to be her soccer coach, but still. “No. At least, I don’t think so. I haven’t checked.”
“Ah, so you met someone who you hope is your soulmate, but you’re too scared to check in case you’re let down.”
“Yeah . . .”
Kuvira smirked. “Well, then I guess it’s a good thing practice is over.” She jerked her head toward the locker rooms. “Go figure it out. I’m sure it’ll all work out.”
“I’m sure it’ll all work out.” That was the phrase that Korra had been hearing more and more the older she got, the longer she went without a soulmate. Right, because it was easy to think things would work out when you had been happy with your soulmate for years. But to Korra, it was hard to think she’d ever find them. Everyone around her had found theirs, so why couldn’t she? Sure, there were people who found them when they were in their thirties or even older, so she hadn’t lost all hope, but it was still her soulmate. Of course she wanted to find them as soon as she could.
She sighed, and entered one of the shower stalls. She pulled up her sleeve, not expecting anything different, but froze when she saw that her soul mark was not the same as it had been before. Instead of the same pitch black it usually was, it was a mess of different colors. There were pinks and blues and reds and greens and oranges and yellows and colors she couldn’t even name.
A wide grin grew on her face as she realized what this meant. She had found them! She had found her soulmate, after all the years. And she knew just who it was.
Deciding to shower later, she stuffed her belongings back in her bag and ran. She passed by Kuvira in the hall, who simply smiled knowingly.
Korra headed to the parking lot before remembering her car was still with Asami — funny that her car was where she wanted to be, but not her. She hesitated for a second, trying to decide if she wanted to run there or wait for a bus.
“Fuck public transportation,” Korra said, sprinting down the street. She’d get there faster on her own anyway.
Everything blurred around her as she ran, only her destination in her mind. She was dimly aware of traffic and horns honking and annoyed glares around her. Not that she cared. She was going to get to Asami if she had to trample everyone in her path.
By the time she entered the mechanics shop, her bag was hanging off her elbow, and she was sweatier than before, causing her hair and clothes to stick to her. Still, that didn't stop her excitement from creeping into her voice as she yelled, “Asami!” in time with her bag sliding off her arm and hitting the floor.
There was a muffled crash and a curse, and then Asami appeared from behind a car, rubbing her head. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, a few strands falling into her face. She wore the same mechanics uniform from before, riddled with grease stains.
Asami furrowed her brows. “Korra? Your car isn’t ready yet. I said I’d call you when it was.”
Korra crossed the room, practically flying with excitement. “No, I know. It’s just, well, this.”
She held her wrist up in Asami’s face. Asami looked confused at first, unsure why she was showing her her soul mark, before her eyes widened in realization. Asami scrambled to pull off her work gloves. “Spirits,” she breathed, staring down at her identical wrist. She looked up and met Korra’s eye. “I don’t — how?”
“How are we soulmates?” Korra said. “Easy. We just are.”
Asami shook her head, though she was smiling. “No, I mean, how have we not figured it out sooner? We have classes together.”
Korra grinned and leaned her elbow on the car in front of her, staring Asami right in the eye. “But have we ever talked before?”
Asami shook her head.
“Exactly.”
Asami studied her arm for a few seconds before looking up at Korra. “So, if we’re soulmates . . .”
“We should probably talk about it,” Korra finished. “Tomorrow night. Valentine’s Day. We go on a date. We talk about the whole soulmate thing. We live happily for the rest of our days.”
Asami snorted. “Sounds perfect.”
“Good, because I wasn’t going to take no for an answer.”

“YOU WON’T BELIEVE what happened!” Korra yelled, slamming the door to her dorm behind her.
Bolin, who was holding a bowl of popcorn, jumped and dropped the bowl. “Would it hurt to give a little warning next time?” he grumbled and he knelt to clean up the mess.
Mako snorted from the couch. “Maybe you should know she’ll do that stuff by now.”
“Oh, shut up.”
“Guys please,” Korra said. “What happened today.”
Wu snapped his fingers and pointed at her. “You learned that we’re all living in a simulation and nothing is real.”
“. . . no?”
“You learned that fairies are real and we’re all giants,” Bolin offered, earning a glare from Opal, who was in her bunk.
“Let her speak,” she said.
Korra rocked back on her heels, before blurting out, “I found my soulmate!”
Wu gasped. “That was going to be my next guess!”
Mako snorted, tightening his arm around his shoulders. “Sure it was.”
“That’s great, Korra,” Opal said. “Who is it?”
“Asami Sato.”
Bolin sat down next to Opal, having given up on popcorn. “Isn’t she in some of your classes?”
Korra nodded slowly. “A few, I think. But I’ve never actually talked to her until now.”
“How’d you meet her?” Mako asked.
“Car problems. Obviously.”
“Right. Obviously.”
“You know,” Opal said. “Her dorm is in the same building. She lives on her own, I think.”
Korra grinned, and her eyes seemed to brighten. Her soulmate living in the same building as her? It was the next best thing compared to actually living with her. Still, it would make seeing her easier. She wouldn’t have to worry about her car breaking down — though that would give her an excuse to see Asami whenever she wanted. “Does she?” Honestly, it was surprising that she hadn’t figured it out sooner. There had been so many opportunities for them to talk, but they only did when Korra’s old car broke down?
“Yeah. You should go talk to her.”
Korra shook her head. “I just got back from talking to her. We’re going out tomorrow.”
“Valentine’s Day?”
Korra grinned. “What better day to get to know your soulmate than the day of love?”

ASAMI PACED AROUND her small shop. She was supposed to be closing up, but all she could think about was what had happened earlier.
She had found her soulmate.
More specifically, she had found out Korra, the star of the soccer team, one of the most well-known girls, daughter of the mayor, quite possibly the most beautiful girl she’d ever met, was her soulmate.
Of all things, she was surprised they’d never met before, but with how different their lives were, she honestly wasn’t surprised.
Asami locked the door behind her as she left, and headed to her car. She paused when she passed Korra’s car.
Trailing a hand over the hood, she was overcome with fantasies of the future. Of dates with Korra in the front seat. Of snuggling up on cold days. Of laughing and joking as they rode to classes. Of seeing Korra when her car was finished.
This car, Korra’s car, was a mark of the future, and it was one she would forever be grateful for.

VALENTINE’S DAY CAME, and Korra was freaking out.
“Korra, you look fine,” Opal said for the fifth time.
Korra tugged at her collar again. She had decided to wear a blue suit, with a black shirt underneath. She had left her jacket unbuttoned, open to hang at her sides, but now she was questioning if it was the right choice. “But what if I picked the wrong color suit and our outfits clash?”
Opal rolled her eyes. “Since when have you cared about your appearance that much?”
“But she’s my soulmate!” Korra protested. “I want everything to be perfect.”
Opal stood from her bed and crossed the room. Placing her hands on Korra’s shoulders, she stared into her very soul. “Korra. You are taking her out for dinner and then stargazing. Your date plan is fine. She is your soulmate. She’ll like it regardless. Look, I know your first date with your soulmate is nerve wracking. I’ve been through it. But you’re going to be fine. You’ll be laughing halfway through and wonder why you were ever so nervous. You’ll be fine.”
Korra took a deep breath and shook her nerves away. “You’re right. We’re going to dinner. We’re going to get to know each other and talk about this whole soulmate thing. It’s going to be fine.”
Opal grinned. “Good. Now get going. Bolin is going to be here any minute and I don’t want you here.”
Korra laughed and crossed to the door, winking at Opal — who rolled her eyes — before leaving.
There were plenty of couples in the hall, all heading out to do their couple-y thing. It was weird to think that after years of moping at home and wishing to all the stars she could remember the names of, that she would be joining them soon.
Weird, but absolutely exhilarating.
Korra stopped in front of Asami’s door. Taking a deep breath, she steeled her nerves and knocked.
The door opened immediately, like Asami had been waiting for her. Korra’s greeting stuck in her throat. Asami looked absolutely beautiful. Her red dress hugged her waist and danced around her like feathers in the wind. The sleeves flowed around her arms and cinched around her wrists. Her hair tumbled around her shoulders, her lips painted the same shade as her dress, her eyes lined with black. She was even more beautiful than Korra thought.
Korra was shaken out of her thoughts by Asami laughing. “You’re staring,” she said, causing Korra to blush. “But you look very pretty yourself.”
Korra grinned. “Really? I was worried the blue was overdoing it.”
Asami laughed again. “It goes well with red.”
“Does it? I had no idea.”
“It does. Are you going to tell me what you have planned for tonight, or is that a surprise?”
Korra bit her lip. “I can tell you we’re going out to dinner, but after that is a surprise.”
“Dinner sounds nice.”
Grinning, Korra looped her arm with Asami’s and led her down the hall. “You’re going to love it.”

ASAMI DID LOVE it. Korra had taken her to a diner with mostly outdoor seating. The seating area was filled with plants of all sorts, with flowers of all different colors. It almost looked like the garden was one huge soul mark. Lanterns lined the walkways, making her feel like their path was glowing.
Korra led her down one of the many pathways, grinning widely. That grin was one Asami could get used to seeing — she was quickly falling in love with it.
“Wow Korra, this is amazing,” she said, stumbling slightly as Korra jerked her around a corner.
“Sorry!” her soulmate-maybe-girlfriend squeaked. “Our table is up here.”
Asami looked around, noticing they hadn’t passed any more tables in a while. “Why are the tables so spaced out anyway?”
“This restaurant is for soulmates who have just met to get to know each other. The tables are so far apart for privacy. Each table is supposed to have a bowl of conversation starters with weird questions. Get to know the small stuff before what they do for a living, I guess.”
Asami laughed. “This is amazing,” she repeated.
Korra raised an eyebrow. “Really? It’s not that creative.”
“To be fair, we only met yesterday.”
Korra stopped. “This is us.”
The table was in a small alcove surrounded by flower pots. It was a typical outdoor seating table — metal, with chairs that would probably be uncomfortable after a while. The center of the table had a small bowl with different slips of paper sitting in it. Conversation starters.
Asami unlooped her arm from Korra’s and sat. Her soulmate did the same.
They spent a few seconds staring at each other and grinning. Spirits, Korra was pretty, with her short hair and minimal makeup that looked like it had been put on last minute, and the blue suit that matched her eyes.
She could have spent hours staring into those eyes that seemed to hold the depths of the world within them. They were the ocean and the sky and warm rain.
Asami looked away and cleared her throat. “So, should we use these conversations starters, or should we go through the basic ‘get to know me’ questions?”
Grinning, Korra placed her chin on her hand. “Tell me about Future Industries.”
Asami grinned. She could’ve talked about anything just to talk to Korra, but talking about one of the things she loved most was even better. “It was supposed to expand from one small mechanics shop to a whole company, but my father died before he could finish all the business stuff, and I’m not in the place to do it on my own. A lot of the employees quit after he died, looking for better work, so I don’t have enough money — or time, with school. I want to expand in the future though.”
Korra nodded. “Seems important.”
“It is,” Asami agreed. “Forgetting about the fact that I love the work, my father started the company and I feel like I’d be forgetting him if I didn’t make it worth it.”
Korra smiled softly. “You wouldn’t be forgetting him.”
Asami shrugged. “What about you? What do you want to do with your life?”
“Okay, so I know I should know by now, but I’m not completely sure. I mean, I focus a lot on soccer and martial arts and could easily do something with that. But I could also help my dad in politics, which would be fine.”
“As long as you’re doing what you want,” Asami said. “And something you went to school for.”
Korra laughed. “Anything other than Future Industries I should know about you?”
“What, like a secret identity I hide behind to fight crime?” Asami said with a laugh. “Nothing that huge. Basic stuff you’ll probably know with those conversation starters. I don’t really have any friends. I major in mechanics. I run Future Industries. I want to expand. That’s it really.”
Korra nodded. “Well, you should know my roommate and friends can be annoying. I was the last to find my soulmate, and they teased me for it a lot. And they’re just annoying in general.”
“I think I can deal with annoying roommates.”
“Good, because you’ll be dealing with them a lot,” Korra said, playing with the slips of paper. “So, those conversation starters.”

KORRA TOOK ASAMI to the roof of their dorm building. Korra wasn’t sure Asami would like it, but by the way Asami gasped and turned in a slow circle to look at the view, she was pretty sure she did.
“I know I said dinner was amazing,” Asami started, “but this is amazing.”
“Never came up to the roof before?” Korra asked, setting a blanket that she’d snagged from her dorm down on the ground. She sat and patted the ground next to her.
“You’re allowed to come up here?” Asami asked as she sat down and leaned her head on Korra’s shoulder.
“Er — no, not usually,” Korra said, rubbing her next. “But a family friend runs this place, so I get special permission. Figured I might as well use it.”
Grinning, Asami leaned back on her elbows and looked at the sky. “I wish I could see the stars.”
Korra leaned back too. “You can see them better in the country, at my family’s farm.”
“Your family has a farm?”
“My grandparents. We visit every summer.”
Asami hummed. “Do you know a lot about the stars?”
Grinning, Korra reached a hand up to the sky like she could pick a star out of the sky. “I sure do.”
Asami sighed. “Tell me everything you can.”
“Everything?”
“Everything.”
And so the two laid there, Asami’s head on Korra’s chest and Korra’s hand tangled in Asami’s hair as Korra told everything she knew of the stars. Asami listened, and though she didn’t understand much of what she was listening to, all she cared about was that it was Korra, her soulmate, talking, and that was all that mattered.
At long last, both girls had found their soulmate.

Michael has an incredibly strict diet. It must be from some kind of bowl or container, and it all must be one thing. Specific, yes, but it’s necessary if he wants to hold his supper. It wasn’t always like this, though. Lil’ Mikey used to snack often, and take large mouthfuls of food during family dinners. He used to be a real eater! Now, he can only remember those taco-tuesdays.
...All the children were waiting for their father at the table, listening to the front door open and close, all without a greeting. Tension began to rise in the kitchen as the three watched William enter, stripping his coat off, and looking at the empty plates. There was a scowl, but.. This bad-day negativity was quickly pushed down, being replaced by forced joy, a small grin finding the mans lips.
“I take it you’re hungry?” He asked with a head tilt, his smile rising as all three nodded at the same time.
“We’ve been waiting here for hooouuurrrrs! I thought we were going to starve!” Elizabeth exclaimed dramatically, slouching in her seat and pouting. This drew a chuckle from her father, who shook his head at her.
“Your brother hadn’t grabbed you a thing? I’m sorry, sweetheart.. How irresponsible of him.” His eldest son went wide eyed and held his arms out, mouth shaped in a small ‘o’, becoming personally offended by taking unwarranted blame. While moving to the fridge, William snickered and corrected himself. “I’m joking, loosen up a little bit.”
Frozen vegetables were removed from the freezer and placed on a pan, a pot of water being centered on the heating stove. A simple meal was planned, mac and cheese with veggies. It was easy, and required little effort. ...Doesn’t mean it isn’t like a chore, though. Today has been active from start to finish, and Will was mainly hoping to just.. Sit for more than a second. Luckily, things need time to warm up, giving him time to rest, taking a seat at the table with his children.
“Did everyone behave? No fights today?” His opening question.
“Eliza threw a big hissy-fit ‘cause she couldn’t play outside, then she went out anyway and started screaming when I pulled her back inside!”
“I didn’t scream! Yuh- You should have just let me out!”
“But you didn’t want your shoes, and you got dirt all over the flo-“
Both kids silenced upon looking over, watching their parent rub his temples, feeling a headache coming on. He grumbled lowly and leaned over, deciding to.. Not argue, and just settle it. “Elizabeth, you need to listen when Johnathan is in charge. It’s all I ask of you. Johnny, just.. Just let her play without shoes, it’s not a big deal. Nnnnow... Michael? How was your day?” The middle child finally looked up from the bear in his lap, simply shrugging in response. His tiny scowl spoke much more than he did, however. And.. Seeing as both the other kids seemed hesitant, one could guess something else happened today. “...Mike. Go ahead, dear.”
Glancing to Johnny and Eliza, the boy sighed and opened his mouth very wide, taking in a big breath. “...Johnathan was in my room and wouldn’t leave, so I left and went into his room, and then he came and pulled me out and ripped my shirt! An’- An’ he ripped Chica’s foot, too, and I tried fixing her but- But Elizabeth said she could help, so I gave her Chica and she made it even bigger’er, and when I said I was gonna tell you, they shut me in the bathroom, and wouldn’ let me out if I promised not to tell, but I- I told..” The child lowered his head and raised his shoulders, looking between his brother and sister, who now wore angered expressions.
There was no energy to deal with this. None. “..Why can’t you just get along with one another?.. This is why I don’t leave you home anymore!..” William stormed and stood up, squeaking the chair back loudly, causing both Mike and Eliza to flinch. He turned to take care of the thawing food, putting everything in and on the oven. With that little outburst, the tension has made its reappearance, keeping the kids on their toes. With silence finally filling the air, William had the chance to calm himself, grabbing a book on his way back to the table. “...Please stay hushed, sweets. Daddies head is pounding..” His request was accepted by each of them, each Johnathan, Michael and Elizabeth being silent, shooting glares at one another.
Waiting for the oven to beep was agonizing. The ice they were standing on was thin, as their fathers temper was like a ticking time bomb, just waiting for that one, little, thing. They were lucky to not have set it off. For right now, anyway. Once food was ready, William sighed heavily and stood up, folding his book and setting it aside before going to the stove, asking the kids to line up with their plates. One by one, they were sent back to the table with full plates of food, retaking their seats before digging in. Johnathan and Elizabeth did, anyway. Michael seemed to be.. Distracted, and not eating. He just didn’t feel like it, his stomach being stirred with anxiety and bad feelings and everything.
His reluctance was noticed early on.
“...Michael, why are you not eating?” William started softly, keeping his temper collected.
Mike shrugged, keeping his eyes to his teddy. “I will in a secon’..”
“...At least show me five bites. Can you do that for me?”
“I guess so..” Mike nodded and did as he was asked, scooping up five rather tiny bites. He’s simply lost his appetite, rethinking the day and all. None of his family members seemed impressed with his hesitant swallows, though.
“C’mon Mike, it isn’t torture! Just eat the food!” Johnathan decided to add.
“I am! Lea’me alone!” Michael shouted in retaliation.
“Stop bickering and let him eat! He’s eating! There is no time limit on food!” William blew a fuse and shouted, making every hush-up again.
They had a quiet meal. Only three of the people at the table finished their plates, Michael was still not done. Not nearly. Johnny and Eliza went to their rooms, Will went to shower, and Mike was told to stay until his food was finished. There were no doubts, not a single one, which is why William took his precious time rinsing the work days grease off his body and mind. And, for a moment, it seemed to work. He felt better, and after a nice, long hour and 40+ minutes shower, he was so ready to see his sweet little angels ready for bed. It was when he re-dressed and exited the restroom that his mood was immediately wrecked.
“Michael Afton!” He shouted loudly, causing the boy to flinch harshly and look over, fear filling his features. “Why are you still seated?! Have you taken even one more bite?!”
“I- You said stay here ‘til I was done!..” The boy whimpered, tugging his bear closer as his father approached.
“Look at that plate! You haven’t even touched it!” He pointed down at the food, resting his other hand on the chair. “I gave you so much time just to eat! I slaved to make sure you were fed, and you-! Nnngggg!! MICHAEL! Eat!”
With the, currently, small outburst, Mike teared and quickly turned to grab the fork, his wrists shaking greatly while he scooped up the veggies and mac, shoveling it into his mouth. A noodle found its place down Michaels throat, tickling on the way down, making the child set his utensil down and begin coughing. Due to the pause, William’s anger only grew, making him boil over with a growl. He slammed his fist down onto the table, making Mike yipe frightfully.
“You don’t get to take your time anymore! Eat! Eat your food!” The consistent yelling made Michael begin to cry, emotionally retreating into himself. William tensed, clenching his fist tightly before, once more, slamming it down, hitting the edge of the plate this time, sending Mikes food all over the tables edge, and the floor. This completely busted Wills temper, making him fume. “FINE! Since you’re too incompetent for anything, I’ll do it for you!”
“Daddy-?!” Mike shouted worriedly, scooting back before getting grabbed. William, in a shocking act, force-fed his child, grabbing a handful of mushed, cold food and shoving it into Michaels mouth. The boy desperately tried pushing the others arm away, only to get it roughly shoved against his face. Eventually, Michael began kicking, being able to release himself from his fathers grip, and making the chair wobble and fall over, leaving the child gasping, crying, and crawling away. He then choked wetly, puking on the kitchen floor over the course of two cough-ups. Mike sobbed lightly with a shiver, carefully looking back to his father.
William was staring down at the mess he made with an expression of complete shock, and sorrow. Guilt washed over him like a thick blanket as a soft, barely audible breath left his throat. Listening to Mike whimper and cry drove him mad, causing his clean hand to rest over his own mouth, and making him step closer, kneeling down in a much softer, much less scary manner. “Michael, baby I’m sorry, I didn’t.. Mean t.. Mikey, come here, come here, my love..” He slowly motioned over, scooting closer to the other. Michael shivered as William got closer, scooping him up like a baby. With a nuzzle and a cuddle, William carried the child while pacing around the house, whispering soft, sweet words of comfort in an attempt to make up. The commotion certainly kept the other kids in their own rooms, at least..
...That sick never left him. Even now, all this time later, he still has to settle for good ole’ Spaghetti-O’s.

A/N: sooooo idk what this is exactly, I just had an idea and decided to try and write my own fic for once though I’m not sure if it turned out good lol I think it’s a bit too long and I realised I don’t know how to write kissing scenes. Anyway please enjoy and let me know what you think
A Ninja’s Day Off (Kakashi x reader)
(Y/N) stepped into the Hokage’s office, finding Tsunade sitting by her desk, a pile of books and important documents surrounding her.
“Hokage-sama, I’m here to provide you with the mission report”
“Excellent, I’ve already received and deciphered the scroll your team has sent me with all the informations you were able to collect. It seems all went smoothly, good job (Y/N)”
Despite the formalities Tsunade and (Y/N) were rather well-acquainted, being (Y/N) one of the few Hokage’s personal ANBUs meaning that she certainly trusted her. Because of that, Tsunade glanced at the girl standing in front of her and even though she was wearing the ANBU mask, she could clearly see the exhaustion that was radiating from her, hence she spoke: “(Y/N), you’ve been out there constantly completing quest after quest for quite some time now, I know that is due to the high amount of missions the village is currently dealing with, but I can see you’re at your limit, that’s why I’m giving you the permission to take a couple days off in order to rest and recover”.
“Thank you, Tsunade” replied (Y/N) with a smile, and with that, she was off.
When she reached her apartment block, she opened the door and stepped inside. The room was a mess, to say the least: there were dirty clothes scattered all across the floor mixed with random ninja scrolls with all sorts of seals written on them, along with some kunai knives and shurikens all over the apartment. She sighed to herself, realising just how long it had been since she actually stayed in her apartment for more than 10 minutes or so, just enough time to change and pack for yet another mission.
(Y/N) decided that a nice hot shower would help her take away some stress and tiredness, so she headed towards the bathroom, stripped off her clothes and stepped under the hot stream of water that felt so nice on her bare skin.
After she was done, she stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her form, then, feeling her stomach grumble, she decided to head in the kitchen to have a snack.
Unfortunately for her, when she opened the fridge she realised that everything had already expired meaning that she had nothing to eat. Nice, she thought.
That’s when her eyes fell on a small paper bag that was laying on her kitchen table. She reached to it to inspect the content and saw to her delight that inside the bag were three big red apples, her favourite. Besides the apples she saw a small note: ‘figured you wouldn’t have much at home to put in your belly after being away for so long. Enjoy - Kakashi’
(Y/N) couldn’t help but smile widely at the kind gesture. (Y/N) and Kakashi had been best friends for a long time now, having been on the same team during Kakashi’s ANBU days and continued to hang out even after he left and became a sensei. To (Y/N) he was more than just her best friend though, for as time passed she started developing romantic feeling towards the copy ninja but always shrugged off those feelings out of fear of ruining their amazing friendship and because of the fact that a potential relationship would have been a rather difficult thing to handle for two Leaf Jounin such as themselves, their positions implying a dangerous lifestyle that put their lives constantly at risk; it wasn’t a secret that a normal love life wasn’t something that two Jounin of that caliber could aspire to. Truth is, she had been told by some people like Jiraiya (though he didn’t seem very reliable) that Kakashi did in fact return her feelings. It’s not that she considered that to be impossible, she had to admit that sometimes she could feel the chemistry between the two of them, but it was like they both shared some sort of unspoken agreement that kept them from bringing the relationship forward, preferring to stay as best friends. She would say she was fine with that, what she cared about the most was being by Kakashi’s side and she really enjoyed their unique friendship but she couldn’t deny that, sometimes, this situation made her kind of sad. (Y/N) thought that things were going to stay like this forever, but she was wrong.
Chewing on her apple, she started cleaning the apartment, picking up all the clothes from the floor and reorganising and storing all her scrolls. After she was done with that, (Y/N) finally sat on her couch determined to either take a nap or just relax. However she found herself just sitting there staring at the wall, boredom taking over as she started repeatedly tapping her foot on the floor. She was so used to so much action in her life that a simple day off was starting to become more difficult to handle than she could have imagined.
Suddenly an idea popped up in her head: ‘you know what? I’m gonna pay Kakashi a visit. He must be at the training ground right now, training with his team. I’m sure it’ll be fun watching him and team 7, maybe I’ll even be able to help him out, who knows’.
Thinking it would be fun to sneak up on them while they were training, (Y/N) approached the training field making sure to suppress her chakra to avoid being detected. She positioned herself on top of a well hidden branch of tree and, rather amused, observed what Kakashi and his team were doing. It looked like they were learning how to conceal themselves, judging from the fact that Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke were all trying to find a good hiding spot to avoid getting caught by Kakashi.
Naruto managed to find a spot on the same tree as (Y/N) without noticing her. An idea popped to her mind and, with a mischievous grin, she appeared behind the blond’s back:
“Yo, Naruto” she said without a warning.
What came next was a scream and then a thud. Naruto had fallen off the tree and was now lying on the ground, his teammates and sensei approaching him, a puzzled look on their faces.
“W-Wh-What was that?!” said a shocked Naruto, followed by (Y/N) making her appearance jumping off the tree and landing in front of them.
“Hi everyone”
And before anyone could say anything, Naruto started screaming again.
“(Y/N)?!?!? Why would you do that??? I was perfectly hiding from Kakashi-sensei until you came and revealed my presence to everyone!!”
“Your ability to conceal yourself from other ninjas is the worst Naruto, it was obvious you were hiding on that tree” said Kakashi before giving (Y/N) his signature one-eyed smile “anyway, (Y/N) you’re back already, what are you doing here?”
“Well it’s my day off, so I though I would pay you a visit you know, to thank you for the apples and to see what you and team 7 where up to” she replied a bit embarrassed, realising she just admitted she wanted to see him on her day off.
“It wasn’t a big deal, really, I just figured you would like them” he said with a smile, scratching the back of his neck, which, (Y/N) thought, was kinda cute. “But since you’re here” he continued “would you mind giving us a hand? After all, ANBUs concealing techniques and chakra suppressing abilities are the best”
“Sure! When do we begin?”
And with that, Kakashi and her began teaching the young Genin all the tricks in the books.
When they finished practicing the sun was setting. All three team 7 members improved their skill a lot, especially Sasuke, but even Naruto did surprisingly well considering he wasn’t very well versed in hiding his presence, being the show off he was.
After saying goodbye to the kids, (Y/N) was left alone with Kakashi who, making sure his students were gone, spoke up:
“Well that was intense...are you hungry? We could stop somewhere on our way back and have dinner, if you would like to of course”
“I would love to! I’m starving, plus we haven’t hung out in a while, it’ll be nice to chat a little”
“Yeah” was what Kakashi replied, though he seemed, (Y/N) thought, to be a bit tense but she shrugged off that feeling once they started walking back to the village.
They decided to stop at one of their favourite cafes in Konoha (consciously avoiding Ichiraku’s ramen to avoid bumping into Naruto) to have dinner together and talk about the usual stuff like mission etc.
(Y/N) really missed talking to Kakashi, he was like a soothing presence to her, his voice never failed to make her feel a little happier then before. Whenever they were sharing these simple moments, even as just friends, (Y/N) couldn’t help but feel butterflies in her stomach each time. It was a bittersweet sensation in which she felt both very happy and sad because of the fact that she was in love with her best friend, but would be to scared to actually make a move.
She snapped out of her thoughts when food came and they ate in silence.
When they finished eating their dinner, they both exited the shop and started walking together through the village.
“So how was your last mission? You’ve been gone for quite a while. Tsunade told me it was a very important top secret mission” asked Kakashi after a while.
“It worked out somehow. I didn’t think it would take so long either but we had to deal with something unexpected which caused us to carry out the mission for 3 weeks straight”
“I see” said Kakashi before he went silent again. To be honest he was being pretty silent, not that he was and extremely talkative person, but still when he was with (Y/N) he would usually be more relaxed. This time however he seemed to be lost in thoughts and she found herself wondering what it could be.
They sat on a bench, admiring in silence the starry sky. It was a comfortable silence, each of them appreciating the others presence.
(Y/N) let out a small shiver when their arms accidentally brushed against each other.
“Are you cold?” asked Kakashi.
“No, I’m fine” she answered before letting out a long sigh.
“Is something wrong? Your mind seems to be somewhere else”
(Y/N) was taken aback by his comment, realising she had been just staring at the sky for a while, thinking about him, to be honest. She didn’t exactly know why but she felt the urge to be honest to him so she spoke her mind: “Nothing’s wrong it’s just- I really missed hanging out with you, you know, being with you and just talking about nothing in particular. And it makes me a little sad that these moments have become a rarity lately, because of our schedules and everything...”. She had no idea why she went that far expressing her feelings towards him. Damn this almost sounded like a confession.
When she realised what she just said, (Y/N) turned her gaze from Kakashi, trying to hide her face that was now a blushing mess.
Kakashi didn’t say anything. He was looking at her, a blush of his own barely visible under his mask. (Y/N) had never been this sentimental with him before. Could it be possible that she was trying to tell him what he wished she was trying to tell him? - he thought.
It was now or never, thought Kakashi. She had just opened up to him and now he felt like it was the perfect time to do the same and tell her about his feelings. “There something I want you to know (Y/N)” he spoke up, making the girl finally turn her face towards him with a questioned look.
“I really like you, you know, more than just a friend”.
That’s it. He said it. There was no going back, so he went on “I’ve been acting like we’re just friends but I can’t do it anymore because I think-“ he stopped for a second, thinking about what he was about to say “- I think I’m in love with you and can’t keep pretending otherwise”
(Y/N) stood there, her eyes widened and a shocked expression on her face. There she was thinking she had just made a fool of herself in front of Kakashi for almost confessing her feelings to him, and now she just heard him say he loved her??
Soon enough the shocked expression she wore was replaced with a closed-eyed smile: “I love you too Kakashi” she finally said, then added with a chuckle “I was scared to tell you ‘cause I thought it would ruin our friendship but if you put it like that...”
When she reopened her eyes she saw Kakashi lower his mask (which didn’t shock her much since being best friends for such a long time meant that she had seen his face in many occasions) and leaning forward, cupping her cheek. She did the same until their lips finally met.
(Y/N) thought that the feeling of Kakashi’s soft lips on hers was the best.
After a few seconds, they gently started moving their lips in unison to deepen the kiss.
When the two broke apart, gasping for air, they both smiled at each other.
Maybe, (Y/N) thought, things did change after all.

I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping the past few years even pre-COVID, but since COVID that’s all I’ve done until just recently as I’ve started to venture out to places like Target and Walmart. I haven’t gone to any clothing stores or any other store, yet, but I’m working towards it. Anyway, all that being said I do enjoy shopping online, but it’s nice to get out there and shop once in awhile. It’s definitely more comfortable and convenient for me right now, though.

Summary: “An outsider with no reason to be given the hefty task of dealing with the Gralean Empire’s flamboyant chancellor has ended up with just that. She’s willing to put up with all the antics, but is there ulterior motives for her obedience that none are privy to? And can they compete with the grim secrets of Chancellor Izunia himself?”

A couple weeks had passed since you had begun working for Chancellor Izunia and you found yourself growing more comfortable with his flamboyant personality. If nothing else, you could tolerate it. There were even moments where you found yourself giggling at his little antics, to which he’d react with a self-satisfied smirk. You were grateful that these flirty gestures and comments were at least coming from an attractive man, not someone slimy and entirely not your type (which you weren’t quite sure what would even constitute as “your type”). You shuddered to imagine Besithia acting as Ardyn does.
It had taken a couple days and evenings, but you finally finished the paperwork--sifting through what you’d bring to his attention, throwing whatever out, putting official seals on anything that required it. All simple things, but it seemed far too much for someone who didn’t even appear to take the politics seriously. Though who were you to judge when you hardly took the work seriously yourself?
A sigh passed your lips, knowing that it would already be dark outside and thus you would need to go sleep soon after. You placed a soft knock on the Chancellor’s office door.
“Come in, love,” he invited with a sing-song voice.
“Ardyn,” you gave a short bow, “everything you need is ready for you.” You explained the gist of what you completed, hoping it’d make his busy work easier.
“Thank you. You continue to impress me everyday,” he said your name with a warm expression.
“That’s the goal, right?” You offered up the same energy. “I know it’s a bit late, and I wouldn’t want to keep you any longer, but is there anything else you’d like from me before I take my leave?”
Ardyn closed his eyes and leaned back in his seat, obviously considering your request. “Dinner!”
“Eh?” There was no chance of you holding back the shock on your face.
“Your boss is requesting that you share dinner with him,” he chirped. All you could do was blink at him for a few moments.
“I actually had some leftovers I have to finish so they don’t, uh, go bad,” you made an excuse.
“Hm, quite a predicament we find ourselves in,” Ardyn stated, scratching his stubble. “How about this then!” He excitedly put a finger up as if having an ‘Aha!’ moment. “Tomorrow is our day off, yes?” You slowly nodded your head with a quirked eyebrow. “Then we will go out for dinner, a nice dinner tomorrow night!”
“I…” You had no excuses to deny the Chancellor this time, and his satisfied expression indicated he was well aware. “If you truly wish to share a meal with your humble assistant tomorrow night, I shall accept.”
A sly smile graced Ardyn’s lips, “Wonderful, I haven’t had anything to look forward to in quite some time. We can meet here in the evening.” He laughed before waving you away, “That’ll be all for today, my dear. See you tomorrow,” he winked.
You bowed before bidding him goodnight and rushing to your room. Non-work related conversations with the man always left your brain feeling drained as you tried to ascertain what motivations he had under that carefree facade. You crashed unceremoniously onto your bed, not bothering to eat anything, though you technically did have leftovers that were going to spoil.
What were you to wear tomorrow? What conversation points did you have to discuss? Where were you even going to eat? Such questions eventually lulled you into a sleep.
Though not a very satisfying one. You woke up in the late afternoon to a mess of rat’s nest of hair and dried drool caked to one side of your mouth. ‘Maybe I should show up like this,’ you snorted but your better judgement told you to clean up. It wouldn’t be any good to lose your current position, it’s already difficult to get the information you’re looking for as is. You slinked off to the showers, making sure the temperature was as hot as your skin could take before stepping in. The shower routine you had wasn’t too long, yet you still sat there in contemplation long after you were done.
Travels all around Eos led you to no further information on what you were seeking--information about the lost and long-forgotten Astral you heard stories of as a child; stories that were deeply rooted in your existence. Eventually, the only place you hadn’t checked was Niflheim. And so here you sat, in the last place you could hope to check.
Your skin was raw from the hot water by the time you finally exited, but hey, at least you were clean now; however the clock was ticking against you, you slept in far too late and showered far too long. “Ah shit,” scolding yourself, you quickly got to work on finishing up your appearance.
It was nothing special, frankly speaking. You didn’t want to look like you tried too hard for your kinda-but-not-really dinner date with your superior. Donned in a black, sleeved, and laced dress accented with gold, you accessorized only with your pendant. The only styling your hair received was a decent blow drying. Nodding as you checked the mirror last time, you headed towards the office, but not to work this time.
Truthfully, you expected the Chancellor to be late like he often is at work, so your heart skipped a beat to see him waiting. “Apologies for making you wait for me,” you bowed once you finally reached him.
Taking you by the chin, Ardyn lifted your head up and gave one of the signature smiles, “Not a problem. I would be happy to wait a thousand years for a beauty such as yourself,” he kissed the back of your hand with a wink. Though it was nothing out of the ordinary for him to say, there was something about it that felt chilling. “I see you’re as lovely as ever,” he offered as a compliment.
“I see you’re looking… the same as ever,” you quirked a brow. He wore his typical dark, layered outfit, though you were a bit relieved to see that he ditched the fedora for the night. ‘I quite prefer his wine-red hair uncovered,’ you admitted to yourself.
“Apologies,” he chuckled, “Believe it or not, I don’t own very many outfits.” Seeing how eccentric Ardyn was, you did believe him and nodded as confirmation. “Well then,” he said your name in a rather sultry way that made you blush, “shall we get going?” The chancellor offered his arm to you, which you timidly took.
The two of you shortly arrived at a low-lit, rather intimate restaurant. It was intimidating to an extent, you’d never bothered to go somewhere nice. Your life had been about eating quickly, eating cheap, and only eating when necessary. “I don’t know if I belong at a nice place like this,” you remarked with a laugh as the two of you were seated.
“Nonsense, it is my duty to treat my ever faithful assistant to something out of the norm,” Ardyn gestured around the room.
“Treating?” You opened your eyes wide. “That won’t be necessary. I can pay for it. Though I appreciate the thought,” you put on a smile.
“Absolutely not! I am the one who invited you after all.”
“Well then next time I have to pay!” You quickly smacked your hand over your mouth, realizing what you said and the implications of it.
“You are one of the most entertaining humans I have ever met,” Ardyn stifled a laugh. “But fine, if you are to ask me out, I will allow you to pay.”
“Ever the gentleman.”
The chatter the two of you kept over dinner was rather innocent and not professional, but not overly colloquial either. There were, however, multiple incidences of him reaching over the small table to get touches of your hand in. To be honest, you weren’t too shocked at the gesture, but it did garner a bit of surprise out of you when he instead clutched your pendant between his fingers.
“Such an interesting little thing,” the Chancellor pointed out. “Such an interesting little gem.” He examined the green crystal, the designs within, and the metal twining with fervor. “You wear it daily.”
You nodded. “It is very special to me, it is all I have of my parents,” a soft smile came to your face. “It was actually an anniversary gift to my mother, but after their death, it ended up in my hands.” You paused before continuing, “It is the only earthly possession I truly care for--my most precious treasure.”
“To care for something is quite a gift,” Ardyn spoke absentmindedly almost as if you weren’t there, but you hummed affirmatively anyways. The waiter brought the check, breaking the man out of what appeared to be deep thought. It was a fast transaction, and finally, the night was winding down to an end.
Ever the chivalrous man, Ardyn walked you to your living spaces. “Thank you for tonight,” you bowed deeply. “It was an honor to spend alone time with the Chancellor,” the pleasantries slipped from your lips. It was a shock to find his fingers flicking your forehead, and you recoiled at the slight sensation.
“I thought I told you long ago not to act so, hmm, how to say… kiss-assy with me just cause you work for me,” the man rarely swore so you couldn’t fight the full smile and laugh that was drawn from you. He seemed pleased to have garnered such a reaction. “Sorry,” you managed to get out after another laugh.
“Well, dearest, it appears the night out is over. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.” You nodded in agreement. “I shall see you once the work week begins,” the ever cheeky Ardyn leaned down to give a kiss to your forehead where he had previously flicked it before quickly turning and waving goodbye.
As you tried to sleep, your face heated every time you thought of the peck. You were aware that the majority of his flatteries were empty, but it still gave you butterflies. You had never let anyone share contact like that with you after all. A deep sigh rose out of you, you had to brush off all the strange feelings before work began as usual; however, you didn’t know if Ardyn would ever let you do so. The man certainly knew how to press buttons you didn’t know existed.

What were you like at 17? Infinitely more naïve than I am now. I was going through my first heartbreak, funnily enough caused by the same person who is the reason for my current heartbreak, but that’s a story I’ve shared a million times. Anyway, at 17 I was still in high school so I was definitely more carefree about a lot of things; I wasn’t worrying about the future too much just yet, and I was still set on taking journalism. I was also going through my first family death which allowed me to explore a new side of my emotions.
Tell us about your first kiss. I had been really nervous about it and I felt like I wasn’t ready. But she was very gentle and took her time with me that night, even though I could tell she really wanted to have that kiss. I knew I hadn’t been a good kisser for my first, but she seemed to have good memories of it years later when we revisited the experience.
Tell us about your worst date. I’ve never been on a date with someone I wasn’t seeing.
What’s your biggest flaw? I’m extra sensitive and can’t take even the most playful of jabs without feeling the least bit hurt, unless the dig came from someone I’m extremely comfortable with, like Angela. That makes me the worst person for banter in most cases and it makes me not the most approachable person.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve bought lately? To be honest with you, I only ever buy food lol. I’ve been an employee for three months now and I have yet to buy something that’s meant to be an investment or is meant to last with me.
Who is your celebrity crush? Can’t really decide between Kristen Stewart and Kate Winslet. Love them both.
What is your biggest pet peeve? I don’t appreciate lateness very much, especially if people have no reason to be.
What’s the song you most wish you had written? I don’t really think like this. If anything, I’m grateful there are songwriters out there who can pen songs that perfectly encapsulate my thoughts and feelings.
What do you always take with you when you travel? Phone, laptop, my chargers for each, wallet, and too many clothes because I like having multiple choices on what to wear while I’m traveling.
Do you have any pets? Two dogs.
Have you or someone you know ever drunk dialed? I never have, but I probably know a ton of people who have.
What is the worst break up you have experienced? The most recent one. The person I trusted the most hurt me in more ways than I could ever imagine. She seemed so desperate to get rid of me, and I will never be able to shake off the excruciating pain of feeling unwanted. She made it sound like I put her on a leash when I did nothing but attend to her every need and adjusted in a million ways for her comfort while never asking for anything back. I blamed myself for months, never knowing what exactly I was blaming myself for.
I worked my goooooooddamn hardest to get to where I am today, and I’m not sure she deserves to re-enter my life after the work and fixing I’ve done to be able to forgive and love myself.
Have you ever been stuck by someone very annoying on a plane/bus/etc? I don’t think so. The only one I remember was a seatmate on a plane who snored for the entire trip, but it didn’t bother me too much. When was the last time you were rejected by someone? Late 2020.
Has someone way older than you tried to hit on you? Nope.
Have you ever been cheated on? Never.
Did you get lost at all on your first day of high school? No. I went to the same school from kinder to high school, so by freshman year I could’ve gone through the entire campus blindfolded.
Have you ever been interrupted during sex? Yeah many times.
Have you ever been recorded doing stupid things while drunk? Yeah, I’m the favorite for that kind of content haha. I can get quite silly when drunk.
Has a significant other ever called you by the wrong name? Nope.
Have you ever cooked anything and it turned out horrible? Not exactly, but close. I’ve baked stuff before that ended up tasting like nothing.
What is the worst birthday you have ever had? I don’t think I have one that’s in the running for absolute worst, but my 21st birthday coincided with Easter Sunday so I couldn’t invite anyone to celebrate with me. Gabie’s parents, who aren’t even particularly religious, didn’t allow her to celebrate with me because it was Easter, so that was a blow. Angela saved the day by taking me to dinner and spending the whole evening with me, but by the end of the evening Gabie and I had a lengthy argument and she kept trying to break up with me. It was a miserable end to a mostly miserable birthday.
Have you ever choked on chewing gum? Probably briefly in the past. I don’t have any moments that stuck with me.
Have you ever found anything dirty in a siblings room? No, but I also don’t go looking around through his things. < Same.
Have you ever made a bad first impression on someone’s parents? I’m sure I have. I once made a mess in a high school classmate’s bathroom when I cleaned my hands to get red food coloring off of them. I did want to clean it, but my mom suddenly came to pick me up so I had to leave the sink in such a messy state. Years later and I still feel bad about it, even though I’ve never been close to that girl and I’ve never visited her house since.
When is the last time you got into a fist fight? Idk man, 15 years ago? The only physical fights I’ve gotten into were with my siblings and cousins when we were kids.
Have you ever been spit on by a llama? I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a llama in real life.
Have you ever locked yourself out of your car/house? The house, yes many times. Never out of my car.
Describe how you got one of your scars. My right ring toe got caught in the gears once when I was riding my bike.
Describe how you’ve broken a bone, if you have. Never have. Would hate to feel what it’d be like D:
Have you ever had a near death experience? The time I got shocked when I was 11 probably comes the closest.
When you get cold at home, do you get a sweater/hoodie or get a blanket? I rarely get colds. When I do, I just wait for it to leave; I don’t really do anything to deal with it.
Do you require visual assistance? (i.e.; glasses or contacts) I’ve had glasses since I was 11.
Do you work out? Occasionally.
Describe the last cup you drank from. It was just a clear glass that had water in it.
What is a food that you always are in the mood to eat? Sushi and sashimi.
Do you like sausage? I’ve never liked sausage tbhhhh. It tastes odd to me.
Ever held a newborn animal? I don’t think. The closest I’ve come to holding a newborn was meeting Cooper when he was two months old and barely looked like a beagle.
Do you make a wish when you blow out your birthday candles? I haven’t had a birthday cake in a while, but in general I do make wishes when I get the chance to blow out candles.
Have you ever been to Boston? Nope.
Describe your hair at the moment. I showered a few hours ago so it’s still a bit damp, but otherwise it’s nothing special.
What is the last thing you searched for online? I looked for a synonym for a certain word, but I don’t remember what it was.
What are you sitting on? The chair in my room. I actually haven’t sat on it for a couple of months, so it feels pretty refreshing to do so again.
Could you use a massage right now? If I could get rid of how terribly ticklish I am, I would so appreciate a massage right now, yeah.
Is it wicked hard for you to sleep when its hot in your room? Yup and I also get insanely cranky as well. Being hot is one of the worst sensations ever, if not the outright worst.
Do you sleep on your stomach/back/side most often? On my stomach with my arms and legs wrapped around a pillow.
Do make sure you dot your I`s when you write? Yes.
Do you dunk your cookies in milk? No, I just like to eat them on their own.
What did you wear today? I had a tank top and shorts for most of today.
Do medical terms make you uncomfortable? Not really, unless I’m diagnosed with a certain condition lol.
Are you afraid of failure? Yeah because I really hate losing or people thinking I’m not capable enough. The older I get and the more experiences I gain, though, the more I’ve been less afraid to commit mistakes. More and more I realize everybody I deal with are people who also make mistakes and are afraid of making mistakes.
Have you been called a bad influence? I’m sure I have.
What about Chinese food? Love it or hate it? I loooove Chinese food, but it’s not one of my top favorites.
How do you feel about getting new neighbors? I honestly have no clue who any of my neighbors are, so I would barely notice if we got new ones.
Why were you last in a hospital? I needed to get blood and urine tests because my fever wasn’t going away and it was time to figure out what was wrong with me.
When is the last time you went to a doctor, and why? We needed him to figure out what I had from the results of the aforementioned medical tests, and for him to prescribe the proper medicine for me to take.

A few weeks after the events, everyone was getting ready to go home for Thanksgiving break including you which you weren’t sure if you were looking forward to or not since you were debating on asking Lena to come home with you, currently you were finishing up some homework since you wanted to get it all done so you wouldn’t have any you had to do over break, freezing when you heard the door open and a small bark “Kara” you said cautiously, slowly turning to look at her and able to see her hiding something behind her back as she shut the door with her foot “Y/N” she said slowly, biting her lip as she awkwardly shuffled towards her bed “What’s behind your back?” You asked slowly, raising an eyebrow as she started fidgeting “Nothing!” Kara said, wincing when the thing behind her back barked once more “Kara!” You groaned when she pulled the puppy from behind her back, rubbing your face with your hands before you looked at her “We’re going to get in so much trouble if you keep it here” you said, looking at her and knowing she was going to beg you to let her keep it “Oh come on, he’s adorable and you can’t say no to this face” she said, holding the puppy up next to her head and giving her own puppy eyes as well, causing you to break instantly since Kara’s was bad enough but add in an actual puppy, you were done for “Fine, but you get to figure out a way to not get caught” you said, looking at her and sighing “Yay!! Thank you!” she shouted, setting the puppy on her bed so she could tackle you in a hug which caused you to laugh and almost fall out of your chair from the force “Yeah yeah, what’d you name it?” You asked, patting her back then watching as she went to pick the puppy up once more before plopping on her bed “Don’t know yet, for now it’s just puppy” she said, scratching the dogs ears and the dog looking like a corgi/husky mix, you about to ask more when your phone beeped

Right as you were about to respond back there was a knock on the door, causing Kara to panic and quickly hide the puppy under her blankets while you went and opened the door “Alex-“ you said, getting cut off when she pushed past you and looked around, raising an eyebrow when she heard a bark and you quickly shutting the door in hopes no one else would hear it “Kara” Alex said, stepping closer to her sister and crossing her arms while Kara bit her lip and messed with her hands “Y/N said I could keep it” Kara pouted, watching as the puppy found its way out of the blankets and wagged its tail when he realized Alex was there, you throwing your hands up when Alex turned her glare to you “She gave me puppy eyes then the puppy gave me puppy eyes! What was I supposed to do?!” You asked, looking at Alex and watching her roll her eyes “You guys will get in a lot of trouble if you’re caught” Alex said, looking between the two of you “We won’t! I promise” Kara said, looking at Alex and holding the puppy up by her head once more but this time targeting Alex “No, Kara-“ Alex said, trying to hold her ground before she groaned and shook her head “Fine! Keep the dog” Alex said, sighing and shaking her head while you gave a chuckle “See what I mean?”.
Later that night, you were working your shift at the diner and wiping down the counter when you heard the door chime “I’ll be with you in… Lena” you said, giving a small smile when you saw it was her “You look nice” you commented when you saw her dressed up in a nice little red number, watching her smile as she gave a small laugh “There was an awards ceremony, had to be dressed up” she said, taking a seat at one of the stools at the counter and resting her chin on her hands as she looked at you with a small smile “Everything been quiet?” She asked, watching as you nodded and tossed the rag into the bucket under the counter on your side before you got her a cup of coffee since you knew she’d stay a while “Yeah, nothings been happening tonight or since that one night” you said, knowing she was mostly asking about the attacks “Good, I’m sorry I haven’t been around much minus class and our tutoring sessions” Lena apologized, looking at you and thanking you when you set the coffee in front of her with cream and sugar “It’s okay, we’re both busy” you said, giving her a smile and knowing that she’s been busy getting caught up grading wise and you were busy studying and getting back into soccer since you were healing quite well, stepping around the counter and wrapping your arms around her when you got close enough, releasing a sigh when she buried her face in your chest and wrapped her arms around you.
“Come home with me for Thanksgiving?” You asked after a moment of silence, resting your chin on her head and giving her a small squeeze “You want me to meet your family?” Lena asked, pulling back to look at you and watching as you smiled at her “Of course, they’ll love you” you assured, brushing some hair out of her face and watching her lean into the touch before smiling “I would love to come home with you” she said, pressing a kiss to your palm before the bell on the front door chimed again “We’ll work out the details later” you promised, pressing a kiss to her forehead before you pulled away and grabbed the coffee pot since it was a regular “I’ll be in my booth” Lena said, giving you a smile before the two of you went to your designated places.
“Finally Friday” you said as you came into your dorm, dropping your bag and coats before flopping face first onto your bed, Kara’s puppy jumping onto your bed and licking whatever part of your face he could reach, causing you to giggle and turn over so you could cuddle him “So, you’re going to Alex’s?” You asked, looking at Kara who was finishing up packing her bags “Yeah, it’ll just be us pretty much” Kara said, giving you a small smile as she watched you play with the puppy for a bit “Do you guys wanna come to my place for Thanksgiving?” You asked, knowing that there would be plenty of food since your family went all out when it came to holidays “You sure?” Kara asked, turning to look at you and grinning when you nodded “I’ll ask Alex, but I’m sure we’ll come!” Kara said, zipping up her bag before plopping down next to you on your bed and engulfing you in a hug, laughing when the puppy started licking her face “Who’s taking the dog?” You asked, causing the two of you to stare at one another.
Later that night, you and Lena arrived at your parents place, the puppy in Lena’s arms as you carried your luggage since you were adamant about her not carrying them, you instantly being engulfed in a hug as soon as the door opened “You’ve gotten so big” your mother said, rubbing your back before pulling back and stopping before she hugged Lena since she saw the puppy “Mommmmmm, I’ve literally been gone for two months” you said, chuckling some and taking the puppy from Lena after you set your bags down so your mom could hug her which caused her to tense before she relaxed into the hug “First question, who’s dog is that? And second question, is this the girlfriend you’ve been telling us so much about?” your father asked, walking into the living room from the kitchen with a glass of tea in his hand “Kara needed somewhere for it to stay over break and yes, this is Lena… Lena these are my parents Y/M/N and Y/D/N” you introduced, setting the puppy down and taking Lena’s coat so you could hang them up “It’s nice to finally meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Y/L/N” Lena said, shaking your fathers hand firmly “Please, call us Y/M/N and Y/D/N” your mother said, smiling at Lena who blushed but nodded “Come on, I’ll show you where we’ll be staying” you said, picking up your bags once more and leading Lena towards your bedroom “Just be silent if you’re going to do anything!” Your father said, causing you to blush and Lena to laugh when she heard your mother scold him.
Once you set your bags down and shut the door, you turned around to look at Lena and gave a nervous smile “I’m sorry about them” you said, going and sitting down on your bed which was made you blush when you realized you had a Superman bedspread on it “They were cute, don’t worry… Just like your room” Lena said, smiling as she looked around at all the things in your room, most of them you haven’t changed in years, including your old High School Musical poster “I haven’t updated much” you admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of your neck as you watched her look around “I find it adorable” Lena said, smiling at you before going over to you and kissing you gently “Thank you for inviting me” she said softly, pecking your lips once more before she went to unpack some “I’m going to shower before dinner if that’s okay?” She asked, looking at you and you nodded “Yeah, bathroom is right in there” you said, giving her a small smile and watching her head into the bathroom, you just laying on your bed until your mother called for you, you groaning before getting up and leaving the room, closing the door behind you.
Once you were in the kitchen, you all but moaned at the smell “It smells amazing, mom” you said, going over to her and leaning against the counter “I’d hope so, it’s you’re favorite… Butter the rolls for me?” Your mother asked, handing you the brush and gesturing to the rolls in a pan with a small bowl of melted butter next to it “Sure” you said, going and dipping the brush in the butter, smiling some when you heard your dad talking to the puppy in the living room with his baby talk voice “You know, I’m glad you met someone like Lena… She seems to have a good head on those shoulders of hers” your mother said, causing you to smile as you ran the brush over the rolls “Me too… I really love her… We’ve been through a lot together this semester” you said, glancing back at your mom as she stirred up what was in the pot on the stove “I can see that and I can see she loves you, the two of you look at each other like your father and I did when we first got together” she said, sighing contently as she thought back to that time “Really?” You asked, turning to look at your mom and smiling when she nodded “Really really” she said, smiling at you and you jumping when you heard Lena speak up “It smells amazing, Y/M/N” Lena said, smiling as she walked into the kitchen with sweatpants on and your soccer hoodie on, going over to you and wrapping her arms around you, her wet hair slightly tickling your face as she rested her head on your shoulder “Thank you, it’s Y/N’s favorite… Why don’t you two set the table, it’s almost ready” your mom said, smiling at the two of you before turning to shut the stove off while you and Lena set the table.
After a dinner filled with your parents asking a bunch of questions about Lena and a bunch of embarrassing stories about you, you and Lena were washing the dishes “Your parents are so sweet” Lena said, smiling at you as you handed her a plate to dry “I’m glad you think so, I can’t believe they told you about the time I got stuck in a fence” you said, laughing some and blushing when she started laughing as well “I can’t wait to hear more” she teased, putting the plate in the dishrack and yelping when you flicked soapy water at her “You did not just do that” she said, looking at you as you smirked at her “Oops?” You said, drying your hands off and yelping when she returned the favor “Oh, it’s on!” You said, splashing water at her and the two of you continuing your game until you heard someone clear their throat “While I’m enjoying watching, could you not ruin the kitchen?” Your father asked, crossing his arms in an effort to look stern but his smile giving it away “Sorry dad, we’ll clean up” you said, laughing nervously before you went and grabbed some towels, the two of you cleaning the kitchen fairly quickly before Lena dried off and you changed into some pajamas before joining your parents for a movie.
Once you were all situated in the living room, your dad turned on the movie which was The Blindside “Comfy?” Lena asked softly as you cuddled up against her “Very” you said, resting your head on her shoulder before focusing on the movie, her arm wrapped comfortably around you and you guys getting about halfway through the movie before Lena’s phone went off, causing you to jump since you were starting to fall asleep “Sorry, I should take this” Lena apologized, waiting till you moved over before she grabbed her phone and went into your room to answer it while you and your parents continued the movie, you not sure how long it was before Lena came back and asked you to talk in your room, you excusing yourself before following her “Lena, what is it?” You asked, watching as she shut the door before she looked at you “That was the police” she said, leading you to sit down on the bed and taking your hands in hers, causing you to start worrying as to what she had to say “They found Mon El” she said, looking at you and your breath caught in your throat “That’s good though, right?” You asked, looking at her and freezing when she spoke once more “No… They found him dead”.

You Cursing At Them In Your Native Language
Kim Namjoon
Namjoon was in that mood today. The mood where he clings to you like a koala. Most times you’d find him adorable because he’d shower you with compliments, kisses and hugs but not today. Today had not been your day. Everything had just been pure shite.
So the last thing you needed was Namjoon’s help in the kitchen while you were cooking for him and the other members.
“Really, it’s alright, Joonie.” You said as you scurried between counters, finding their kitchen a bit too massive.
“But I want to help you.” He stated again, reaching for the pan on the stove that was currently filled with vegetables, “You’ve had a long and -” He stopped talking as he clumsily moved his hand to the handle of the pan and it launched off the stove, vegetables flying everywhere.
He froze in place, staring at the mess he’d made and his eyes slowly rising to face you. You were glaring so hard at him that he was sure you’d kill him.
“Jesus Fucking Christ, Namjoon!” You yelled in English as you felt the anger take over, “A numpty is what you are. This is why I don’t want you anywhere near the kitchen because you bloody ruin everything, you daft cunt! My God, why is my boyfriend such a wallaper!” You bent down and started cleaning up the vegetables on the floor when Yoongi entered the kitchen after having heard the commotion.
“What’s going on?” He asked, looking at Namjoon and then to you on the floor and he hummed knowingly, “Ah. You tried to help, I see.” He said.
“Help? Help my big fat arse!” You growled from the floor, still talking English, scowling as you saw your boyfriend bend down to help you.
“Do you need some help, Y/N?”
“No!” You whipped around to face Yoongi whose smirk only pissed you more off, “I need you two twats to rocket out of the kitchen and stay out!”
“Such a dirty mouth, eh Namjoon?”
“BUGGER OFF!”
Kim Seokjin
You loved Jin. Really, you did but he could be so annoying sometimes - Especially when it came to cooking. That was where your different cultures didn’t exactly mix well. Jin was an excellent cook, truly... When it came to Korean food but tonight you weren’t having anything Korean related, no, tonight you were making one of your countries’ dish since he’d wanted to try it.
But as the cooking commenced, he’d be overlooking everything you did, telling you did something wrong, that that thing wasn’t supposed to go in there or that the mixing of the two ingredients didn’t make sense.
You’d had enough.
“Er det dig eller mig der laver mad?” You spat in Danish, glaring at him as he stood next to you, and when he didn’t answer but simply stared at you puzzled, you continued, “Tænkte jeg nok. Så luk flaben.”
“W-What are you saying?” He asked carefully.
“Du er simpelthen op af bakke, Jin.” You sighed, running a hand down your face.
Min Yoongi
“Y/N!” You heard your boyfriend call from his studio and from the sound of his voice, he wasn’t too happy. You stood in his bedroom when he burst the door open, looking very pissed.
“Did you do something to the track?” He asked stiffly.
You shook your head, “No, I haven’t. Why?”
“Because a part of the track got deleted and you were the last person I saw to be in there.” He stated, “Look, if you did it by accident, that’s fine but don’t lie-”
“Lie?” You spat, facing him fully, putting your hands on your hips, “I’m not lying, Yoongi. I didn’t touch your precious track. I was just in there to clean up after you-”
“But it’s just that you were in there and-”
“Continue down this path, Yoongi and you’ll regret it.” You warned, growing annoyed with him.
“I’ve spent hours and hours on that track and to find some of it deleted pisses me off because that’s at least 10 hours of work down the drain and-”
“Σας παρασύρει; Μου τσιρίζεις τώρα!” You suddenly snapped, causing him to shut up.
“I saw Namjoon leave your studio earlier and from his expression, he’d done something bad.” Jin said as he passed Yoongi in the hallway and the rapper froze.
“Θα το δεις; Βλάκας ”
Jung Hoseok
You were on your phone with you mother, walking aimlessly around your apartment. You mother kept on asking when she and the rest of your family was going to meet your boyfriend.
Hoseok sat quietly in the couch, watching the drama that was on, stuffing his mouth with snacks, “Oh! OH! BABE! IT’S HAPPENING!” He suddenly exclaimed, whipping around to look at you. You put your hand on the speaker, sending him a ‘I’m busy’ look and he pouted, shrinking back into the couch.
“But they’re about to kiss!” He continued.
“Y/N! THEY’RE KISSING!”
“Estoy hablando por teléfono, Hoseok! ¿Estás ciego? Idiota!” You growled, glaring at him.
Hoseok knew he’d piss you off but he absolutely loved it when you spoke Spanish so he continued to push, “Babe~”
“Madre, espera un minuto.” You said into the phone and then turned your attention to Hoseok whom was grinning widely.
“Pendejo!”
“I love it when you talk dirty, babe. Say hi to your mum from me.”
Park Jimin
You appreciated when Jimin wanted to help you by doing some cleaning around your apartment but sometimes the boy should just stay out of it. You were in a hurry as you’d overslept and you were running around your apartment, trying to find your bra.
“Sweety, have you seen my bra?” You asked him as he leaned against the doorway.
“Which one?”
“The white one.”
He smiled widely and nodded, “I washed it last night!” He ran off and reappeared with your once white bra in his hands. You eyes flickered from the bra in his hands to his face, scowling.
“... Did you wash it with colored clothes?” You asked lowly, walking over to him. Jimin frowned and shrunk slightly as you snatched the bra from his hands.
“Yes...” He trailed off as you exploded.
“Ceci est mon seul soutien-gorge blanc et vous l'avez ruiné! Sérieusement, pourquoi mon petit ami est-il si idiot?!”
“S-Sorry.” He pouted.
Kim Taehyung
Taehyung was a dead man and he knew it. The moment he barged into the bathroom, you jolted, causing the wax on the stick to go onto your eyebrow and you scowled.
“Tae.” You ground out between gritted teeth, staring at him in the mirror.
“I’m so sorry, babe...” He covered his mouth with a hand as he saw your eyebrow, fighting back a snicker.
You growled and pulled off the wax and you heard him
“Do you find it funny that I lost half my eyebrow?” You asked.
“N-No.” He muttered but then broke into a fit of laughter.
“Fábjáni! Það er ekki fyndið!”
“W-What are you doing? Don’t get that stuff near me! Y/N!” Taehyung took a step back as you walked towards him with the wax stick.
“Ég er að fara að rústa lífi þínu.” You said and chased after him as he bolted out the bathroom.
Jeon Jungkook
“Sorry babe. I’m not sure I’ll make it tonight.” Jungkook said over the phone and you sighed.
“Kookie, this is the third time...” You trailed off, shaking your head as you looked at yourself in the mirror, “I even got all dressed up and put on make-up and now you’re saying you won’t be able to make it.”
“I know, Y/N and I’m really sorry.”
“But you already perfected the new choreography, so I don’t understand...” You paused when you heard Hoseok’s drunken cheers in the background. Jungkook had gone dead quiet, probably knowing what was about to hit him.
“You’re out drinking with the boys?” You asked lowly, gritting your teeth.
“Y-Yeah. I swear they dragged me along with them and-”
“Jeon Jungkook! Csak várjon, amíg hazaér! Te egy halott ember vagy!”
“You’re speaking nonsense, babe.”

“Hey, hun.” Shawn greeted as he made his way into his dressing room after his performance.
“Hey, babe!” You stood up, shutting your laptop before hugging him. “You were amazing tonight.”
“You say that every night.” He spoke before placing a quick peck on your lips, his arms still wrapped around your waist.
“Because you’re always amazing. Really though, particular taste was spot on.”
“Really?” Shawn asked, his eyes lighting up. “All the falsetto in that one makes me so nervous.”
“Really. You sounded great.”
“Well, thank you.” He pressed another kiss to your lips before letting go. “I’m going to take a quick shower. You coming out with us?”
Shawn and his friends and team loved going out to bars and anywhere that happened to be open late at night after concerts because they always had way too much energy to go to sleep.
“No, babe. I have to work on my report.”
“Oh, okay. Maybe next time.”
You smiled up at him, nodding. You made your way back to the laptop while Shawn took a shower, working your hardest to get as much done as possible. You were going to university, but after being with Shawn for a couple years at this point and completely missing a whole tour, you decided to do a semester online to be able to go on this tour with him. He had been begging and begging ever since he found out he was going on another, and you knew how much tour means to him, so you couldn’t say no.
However, you didn’t join them next time. You didn’t join them the next either. It had been weeks at this point, and Shawn had stopped asking.
“I’ll see you later, babe. Don’t stay up too late,” he’d say before kissing your head and taking off with Brian.
Being on the computer all day every day save for sleep and Shawn’s concerts had become a daily norm. You tried to be with Shawn as much as possible and support him, but there was just too much to do.
“Wanna go out for breakfast today? Andrew doesn’t need me until two.” Shawn asked in the hotel room bed as he played with your fingers that were wrapped up in his, just like the rest of your body.
“You know I can’t, Shawn. I have so much stuff to do, and I haven’t been feeling too well recently.” You answered truthfully.
“Mm, okay. I’m sure you’re just homesick. I promise, if you can catch up on your schoolwork and take the time to enjoy this tour instead of locking yourself up in my dressing rooms or the bus, then you’ll have the time of your life.” He pressed a kiss to your forehead before getting out of bed and making his way to the bathroom, clearly unaware of how serious you were.
You really weren’t feeling well, and it wasn’t because you were homesick. You’d love nothing more than to explore and spend every night walking around a new city with your boyfriend, but you couldn’t. You were working so hard doing your best to please Shawn without falling behind on your schoolwork that you had stopped eating.
You didn’t notice at first, but every time you had to travel in the bus, you’d get nauseous, and you were never one to get carsick. After realizing you had been skipping meals, you noticed you were getting skinnier, and not exactly in a healthy way.
Despite all that, you figured there wasn’t much else you could do. You had to keep doing your school work. You had been through two years of college already with a 4.0 gpa, and you weren’t going to throw that away because of Shawn’s tour. The smartest idea would have been to take a gap year, but it was a little too late for that now.
As the weeks passed by, it kept getting worse. You had been able to catch up on your schoolwork a bit, giving you time to go out with Shawn and sightsee a little more, but every time you ate too much, your stomach would throw it all back out.
You were doing your best to hide it from Shawn, only eating small amounts of food when you were out with him and drinking lots of water instead of the substantial amounts of alcohol Shawn and his fiends consumed every night they went out.
“Y/n, you in here?” Shawn called from the hallway, making his way into his dressing room where you were currently laying on the couch, a cold wash cloth resting on your forehead.
When you didn’t answer, Shawn popped his head through the door. “Hey, come on. I want to show you something.”
“Not right now, Shawn.” You mumbled.
“Please, babe. You’re not doing anything.”
“I don’t feel well.”
“It’s okay, baby. You’re just homesick. Come on. You’ll love this.” You heard his voice getting closer, and you opened your eyes to find his hand outstretched to you, waiting to take you wherever he seemed so eager to get to.
You obliged, not wanting to let him down of course.
“Come on!” Shawn started jogging, pulling you along behind him, smiling like an idiot. You wanted to enjoy this, but your head was killing you.
“Shawn, my head really hurts. I don’t think I shou-“ but you were cut short when you tripped on a loose cord on the floor.
Luckily, Shawn’s fast reaction allowed him to catch you before you hit the hard, cement floor.
“Y/n!” Shawn called, noticing your eyes had shut. “Honey, are you okay?” He shook your body in his arms, freaking out. You were out cold. “Y/n. Wake up, baby. What happened?” He shook you a little while longer before screaming for help.
“Somebody call an ambulance!”
You remembered coming to consciousness, your head pounding. You felt a weight on your chest, and you knew you were in the hospital, Shawn resting his head on you.
It took you a few minutes to open your eyes, and when you were able to, you realized Shawn was laying on a tube which seemed pretty important seeing as how it was the only thing you were connected to.
It took another few seconds before you were able to make a noise, but Shawn immediately bolted up, causing a little bit of relief as the fluids started to flow once again. His eyes were puffy and red, his hair a mess.
“Oh my god, Y/n. I’m so sorry bab-“
“Shawn,” you interrupted, wincing at your hoarse voice. “Can you call the nurse?”
“Yes. Of course.” Shawn stood up and pressed the button to call in a nurse. “Are you okay?”
You nodded your head, and the nurse was in before either of you could speak again.
“Hey, y/n.” She greeted. “I’m Christie, I’m one of your nurses.”
You greeted her before she explained what was going on.
“I’m going to check check on your hypodermoclysis real quick.” Shawn moved to the other side of your bed so the nurse could check the injection site on your chest. “You came in yesterday with severe malnutrition. Right now thi-“
“Yesterday?” You interrupted, your eyes widening. How long had you been out?
“Yes,” she nodded. “You were awake for a few minutes last night, but you were pretty groggy. You just needed some rest.”
You looked over at Shawn who had captured your hand in both of his, holding it up to his lips, and you noticed he was just staring at you, tears in his eyes.
“Should I continue?” The nurse asked.
You nodded in response, Shawn agreeing as well.
“When you came in, you were severely malnourished, dehydrated, and you were suffering from major sleep deprivation. You’ll be okay. Right now we have these fluids running through the tube and under your skin to provide artificial hydration and nutrition.”
“How much longer?” Shawn asked, causing you to turn back to him.
“We’ll keep checking the injection, but now that y/n’s awake, you can discharge whenever you’re comfortable.”
Shawn nodded, a faint smile finding its way to his lips.
“Thank you.” You spoke to Christie, who nodded and left the room, shutting the door behind her.
“Y/n,” Shawn started. “I’m so sorry. I had no idea you weren’t eating. If I had known any of this was happening, I would’ve sent you home.”
“Shawn, stop. It’s not your fault.” You tried to reason.
“But it is. You told me you didn’t feel well. You told me so many times and I ignored it. I told you you were homesick.“
“Shawn!” You interrupted again, not wanting him to blame himself. “It’s not your fault. I didn’t want to disappoint you, and I thought I could handle it.”
After a few seconds of silence, Shawn released his grip on your hand before placing one over your heart, opposite the needle taped in place on the other side. He ran his fingers smoothly up from your chest to your neck, stopping when he was cupping your cheek, smiling as you leaned into it.
“You’re so frail.” He choked out. “I should have noticed. I’m so sorry, honey.”
And that had you. You always hated when Shawn cried, because when he cried, so did you.
“It’s okay, Shawn. It’s okay.”
Shawn sat with you the rest of the day while you rested. You started with ice chips, and when you were ready, Shawn went to the store to get you some of your favorite foods. You needed to start eating again, but Shawn knew hospital food wasn’t something you’d enjoy.
He interacted with a few fans at the store, but he didn’t tell them about what was going on. Despite most things in his life, he wanted to keep this private.
When Shawn came back, you were on the phone with your mom. The three of you had decided that for the rest of your, you’d stay with your mom. She’d take care of you, make sure you were eating and resting. Shawn wanted nothing more than to go with you, but he had to finish tour.
You were discharged that evening, and Shawn accompanied you on a flight to your hometown where your mom would pick you up and take you home.
“Please, be safe.” Shawn spoke, both his hands in each of yours as you said goodbye in the airport.
“I will, Shawn. I promise.”
“I love you so much.” He leaned his forehead in to rest against yours.
“I love you too. More than you know.” You tilted your head, capturing his lips in a soft kiss.
Shawn reciprocated, but his kiss was soft, almost as if he was afraid to break you. You hated that he felt that way, but it made sense.
After a long, tender hug, the two of you went your separate ways.
You were disappointed that you couldn’t finish this leg of Shawn’s tour with him, but both of you knew this break was for the best.
During the months on tour with Shawn, your motivation had been to keep good grades and keep Shawn happy. Now, your motivation was to take care of yourself as best as possible, and you figured that was probably the healthiest mindset to have.
