#where she’s all worked up bc she thinks james’ love for sirius means there isn’t any for her so she tries to pick an argument

I’m actually really fascinated by Jily and Lily now, precisely because it doesn’t look as if it bothered her that J and S were inseparable. She’s very clearly aware of how important they are to each other, she writes Sirius to tell him James needs to see him and it’s just like “yeah, this is How It Is,” no bitterness from James’s wife that James needs to see Sirius. She even signs it off with her love, she doesn’t resent Sirius’s place in James’s life in the slightest.
right?? it’s amazing and i think the only reason why i love jilypad as i do and can accept it wholeheartedly. i also think it speaks immensely to james potter’s capacity for love; it’s not easy to convince someone of their place on ur life, or to give them security and mental peace esp in times of extreme tensions, but that he was able to do that to the point that lily didn’t feel threatened? amazing.
i can see it happening bc lily accepts that her and sirius occupy different roles in james’ life and there truly is no competition. i think a fic once out it like? ‘sirius was his soul, but lily was his heart’ or sumn i’m not sure, and i do think that sums it up well. james has so much love in him, it overflows and fills in all the cracks and never makes the other feel inadequate. and i also see lily as coming into the relationship w an attitude of ‘i am finally ready for not just james but sirius as well’ bc she knows it s a duo, all jokes aside, which is the one thing most people don’t understand about them.
#sirius black#james potter#lily evans#managing jealousy is actually so difficult#now i’m interested in a conversation#b/w lily and james#where she’s all worked up bc she thinks james’ love for sirius means there isn’t any for her so she tries to pick an argument#except he’s just super calm#zen. unbothered. sitting like patiently listening to her vent it out bc he realises this is coming from a place of hurt and inadequacy#and insecurity#and when she’s all yelled out and cried out#that’s when he gently takes her in his arms and presses a kiss to her temple and just. talks.#and he’s so gentle and soft and kind and loving#that it’s very hard for lily to believe that he doesn’t love her#or even to compare herself to sirius#bc i truly believe giving up on jealousy requires a radical restructuring of the way u perceive love#and the expectations u have of people#and the belief u have in urself#it’s not easy and it’s def not the mainstream idea#but once u do it. so so liberating#(but that could also just be my polyam/i do not understand relationships political agenda speaking lmao)#anyway. yeah.#jily + j&s ftw#have i ever talked about the oneshot i’ve had in my drafts for a while#where jily is moving into a new house#and lily just assumes it’ll have a room for sirius. not guest room. but sirius’#and chooses a house accordingly for his convenience as well#and james is just jkasbfilnswfoibowdf floored#bc how did he luck out so well#pen’s asks

Okayyyy I finished tsasog and without further ado here is me simping:
God I missed your wolfstar the UST, the chemistry is unparalleled. I need my wolfstar pathetic and intense and pining mutually right off the bat and you delivered. Don't think I didn't see Remus's reaction when he caught sight of Sirius in his church that first time!
Ok some of my fave metaphors (not incl. religious) that have stuck with me: spit watermelon seed for Lola. Holding a cherry pit under his tongue waiting for Remus. That whole description of James in the last chapter omg.
Having never watched Fleabag bc of the triggers, to me, the way you described missing your dead friend, and what it felt like for Sirius right after she died-- it's accurate. All of it. Thank you for treating it tenderly and honestly. It made me feel less crazy tbh.
Ok onto the Hot Priest bit. Again, only you and only wolfstar will have me buying into The Hot Priest (like yes, Sirius, Get On Your Knees for Remus where you belong. The fingers on his tongue, like he is receiving the Eucharist, the Body of Christ, only hello it's the body of Remus John Lupin). I weirdly grew up with a brand of priest where being hot was part of their whole thing to like "attract people to God" but then like try being fifteen and in confession and having to tell said priest you let your bf touch your boobs shit got weird.
ON THAT NOTE. I am FERAL for all the religious/sacrilegious metaphors and perversions and commentary. I already talked about Sirius receiving "communion," but Sirius crucifying himself on a FIRE ESCAPE with his pathetic love for Remus? Perfect. If you ever need a beta for that shit PLEASE let me put my catholic education to werk. I once wrote a metaphor comparing a sex facial to the baptism of Jesus in the river jordan. I got a lifetime of knowledge.
I'll end with this: Remus, after he leaves the church and goes to Sirius and professes his love-- that experience was beautifully depicted. Remus saying that religion is a source of goodness and truth and peace, and if you aren't experiencing that, then it's not what you are meant to be doing: SO TRUE. And then there's that feeling of freedom and happiness and joy you have when you are brave enough to truly follow your path, even if it means giving up an identity and a life and a truth you once believed. It's terrifying but exhilarating once you make it to the other side. But yeah, that idea of bone-deep, constant "suffering," as Remus called it, while staying in the church, and then realizing that that is not what church or God or love should actually feel like- that is the *only* way a truly devout person will ever have the strength to walk away from it. You nailed it.
Hope this ask isn't too unhinged but like what is the point of fandom if you cant pull shit like this amirite? Thank you for sharing your writing-- you are doing the lord's work. xxooo
hello hello!!!! i love this ask definitely not too unhinged thank you for all ur lovely words :-) and thank you for including the bits from the last ask i somehow deleted 😭😭
i actually can’t write r/s without UST and like intense amounts of pathetic pining it just doesn’t make sense to me thank you for seeing my vision and loving it!! i’m really honoured you read this work despite it having some triggering material for you - and then also feeling i honoured the events that happen and treated it well. whenever i write difficult topics (grief, mental health struggles, unhealthy relationships etc) im always trying to approach it with care and honesty and vulnerability! drawing from what i know and how i think that character would also react to these events. but yeah thank you :-) particularly irt religion which i have some knowledge of but not hugely, i actually ended up doing a lot of research and like reading priest’s experiences in the church and why they chose the profession etc and then why some leave. and i’m glad the last part resonated because religion isn’t inherently evil or bad and i didn’t want r to be like i don’t want any of it! but to actually connect with his faith again to realise that the way he was practicing and engaging with his religion was no longer healthy and no longer the best way to like connect with it and god!!
and damn i wish i had gotten you on board for the religious metaphors 😭 you would have taken it the next level aidjfjw but thank you so much for all these lovely words!!!! just loved reading all this :-) xxxx

Mr. Winter
Here goes my contribution for December 2021's jilychallenge.
JILY CHALLENGE | @siriuslysnuffles vs @dizzy--bird
winter trope + "hold me please i'm cold oh wait you're too close i think i'm having heart palpitations bc since when were you hOT?"
can also be read on ffn | ao3
February 1977
Lily’s eyes roamed the common room as she made her way down the girls’ staircase. A couple third-years sat directly in front of the fireplace in their winter robes, giggling away. Her eyes moved to the middle of the room where a group of fifth-years consisting of Mary Macdonald and friends played Exploding Snaps with blankets wrapped around themselves. One of boys sneezed causing one of the cards to fall over—a small explosion ensued, singeing his eyebrows. Lily threw a pitiful smile his way. Her eyes finally made their way to the corner of the room where a recognizable black-haired boy sat.
She strolled up to him, a grin on her face. “Where’s the rest of your posey?”
“Hello to you, too, Evans,” Sirius said tapping his quill against the small table he made use of. Glancing up from the crossword, he offered her a small smile and motioned for her to take a seat (she did). A year ago, sitting next to Sirius Black would have garnered the pair quite a few stares. Now, people were used to the sight of Lily Evans and the Marauders. When she wasn’t around her best friend April, she could often be found working on puzzles with Peter, studying with Remus, booing James’ Quidditch practices with Sirius, or practicing spells with James by the lake. A year ago, she never would have thought that she could love these boys so much.
Sirius took her out of her thoughts, gaining her attention once more. “Remus is upstairs sleeping; poor bugger isn’t feeling well today. Peter is in detention for being late to McGonagall’s on Tuesday. And James scheduled a last-minute Quidditch practice before we defeat Slytherin next week.” He raised his eyebrows at her. “He should be back soon, if you were wondering.”
She gave him a look—the look that only friends who truly knew one other could decipher. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she lied. He shot her a knowing look but remained silent as she grabbed his newspaper from the table and separated the crossword from the rest of the Daily Prophet. She placed the crossword back on the table and began scanning the articles.
He focused his attention on the crossword once more, filling in another answer. “Nothing interesting today.”
“No deaths you mean?”
“Not much of anything—not sure whether that’s good news anymore.”
She opened her mouth to reply when the sound of footsteps approached and a new body slumped next to her, nudging her slightly.
James grinned down at her, “Hullo, Evans.” He shot a smile at his best friend, “Padfoot.”
“Potter,” she grinned back. “How was Quidditch practice?”
“Rather productive.” The corner of his lips turning up. “You see, when some people,” now grinning like the Cheshire Cat his eyes drifted to Sirius, “don’t boo my Quidditch practices, the team actually memorizes our moves.”
“Yeah, you should really work on that issue,” she quipped back, green eyes shining.
Sirius snickered as James gazed down at her affectionally.
“I should,” was all he said.
The James’ look, soft and in awe, sent a shiver down Lily’s spine—which is definitely, surely, one hundred percent platonic.
“Cold?” he asked.
Again, she lied. “A bit.”
Sirius grinned wickedly at her. A look his best friend missed. “It’s the coldest day of the year, Prongs.” Seeing she was bundled in her warmest winter coat with a red turtle neck underneath and her favorite maroon and gold scarf wrapped around her neck as many times as it would allow, it wasn’t surprising that Sirius wouldn’t let the cold comment pass. “You should probably get her a blanket.”
“Right,” James said standing up. “I should probably change anyway.” A moment later, he disappeared.
“Lily gave him a stern look, “Sirius.”
“What are you up to?”
“Nothing,” he said innocently—far too innocently. “As a friend,” he emphasized. “I thoughtfully suggested that our other friend should warm you up a bit, Evans.”
“Oh yes, how thoughtful and with no ulterior motive. How gracious of you.”
“I know.”
“You git.”
“I’m feeling so much love from you.” She couldn’t help but laugh.
“What’s so funny?” James asked, reclaiming the seat he had vacated. He wrapped a large blue blanket covered in white deer around the two of them, his shoulder brushing against hers. Another shiver passed through her.
“Are you all right, Evans?” he asked, concern in his voice.
“Fine, just cold,” she said before making a remark to Sirius that she only half-recalled, even as she said it.
He gave her a strange look before throwing his arm her shoulder and running his hand up and down her arm. “Is this okay?” he asked, a hint of blush creeping up his neck.
“Of course, friends—“ she cleared her throat, not sure where she was going with the rest of her sentence. Friends platonically put their arms around you and move their hands up and down your arm to prevent you from dying at the hands of Scottish winter because the look in their eyes made you shiver? Lily didn’t think she could pull that off so casually.
He was so close that she feared he could feel the way her heart thudded frantically, in such a way that she almost believed it was possible for her heart to escape her chest. After all, if magic was real, was one’s heart fleeing because James Potter looked at them like that really out of the realm of possibility?
And even as he chatted away with Sirius, he would look down at her with that look that she couldn’t quite understand. When he’d look away, she would watch him. Watch the way he’d talk with his free hand, as if he were a puppeteer putting on a show. Watched how animated he’d get to the point of his glasses almost, just almost flying off his face. It took all of her will to stop herself from adjusting them herself. For once, she could actually make out the spots where his dimples appeared and note the hints of green and blue in his hazel eyes. It was making her breathless. For Merlin’s sake, it wasn’t fair how fit she found him right now. Not fair at all. (Platonically, her brain reminded her. Liar, she felt her heart say with each palpitation).
He was so close that she could smell the faint hint of pine tree and mint and a mixture of an earthly smell (was that wood?) and leather whose combination had no right being as intoxicating as it was.
Without realizing it, she moved closer to him. (Sirius Black 1 | Lily Evans’ self-restraint 0).
“I’m going to see if Moony’s awake,” Sirius said swinging his bag over his shoulder.
“Bye,” Lily heard herself say.
There was a silent moment—a moment where she looked up at him and he gave her that smirk that she swore could save them all. For a moment, she tilted her head and for a millisecond he eyed her lips, leaning down. A second that came and left as the footsteps approached. “James! Lily!”
“Hi, Wormtail,” James glanced up at the smallest member of his group. “How was detention?”
Sirius Black 1 | Lily Evans’ self-restraint 0 | Unknown karmic retribution 1.

wolfstar headcanons that ✨just make sense✨
french sirius and welsh remus
they would speak to each other in their different languages all the time, mostly just to mess with each other.
they’d also say really romantic things, but in their different language, so the other wouldn’t know
remus is like insanely tall, but always slouches, whereas sirius is literally a dwarf but stands up really tall (talk about that ✨aristocracy✨ you know)
when remus had his growth spurt in the summer of fifth year, sirius was, understandably, shocked
but also maybe a little annoyed
how was he supposed to kiss him now?
in the end he decided to just grab his tie and pull him down
which remus didn't particularly mind
remus keeps his hair short, because it gets in the way. sirius loves remus' hair, because of how curly it is - remus hates it for the same reason
'I look like an idiot, pads!'
'no, you look cute.'
after sirius started living with the potters', his hair grew long, finally free of the strict rules of grimmauld place
when remus saw his long hair for the first time, on the train platform, he fell in love with him a little more
sirius turns into padfoot on the days surrounding the full moon to comfort remus. he’s literally like a therapy dog at this point.
sirius’ bed hasn’t been slept in since fifth year
cuddles
so many cuddles
lots of pda, much to james’ disgust
‘ugh, you guys, get a room!’
‘prongsie stop being homophobic.’
‘im not- what am i even supposed to say to that??’
‘nothing, that’s the point.’
sirius has a tattoo of the full moon that changes with the moon phases and remus has a tattoo of the canis major constellation - while the rest are just inked on, the sirius star seems to be actually glowing.
remus always seems to lose his jumpers, even though they’re some of his most valued items of clothing. he will eventually find sirius wearing them, but he can’t even be mad because sirius just looks so adorable in them.
remus, in return, will steal sirius’ leather jacket, which sirius doesn’t particularly mind. james, however, gets especially mad whenever this happens
‘well how come he’s allowed to wear it and I’m not? I’m literally your brother!’
sirius rests his head on remus’ lap whilst remus reads to him, and remus will stroke his hand through sirius' hair
remus loves to french plait his hair, and sirius is adamant about leaving the plait in for as long as possible
‘sirius, it’s been three days, you need to wash your hair! I can always re-plait it!’
‘...fine. but only if you promise.’
remus is constantly freezing cold, which shows through the countless jumpers and scarves he will pile on, even in the height of summer
his feet alone are like blocks of ice, which sirius never misses an opportunity to complain about whenever they share a bed
sirius, on the other hand, is a human sauna, and will still be wearing shorts in the middle of winter
when they cuddle, their contrasting levels of body heat cancel each other out perfectly
basically, whenever remus gets too cold, or sirius gets too hot, you’ll undoubtedly find them clinging to each other
sirius always gets really worried after the full moon, and insists on looking after remus - he makes sure he has enough pillows, sneaks him food because the hospital wing food isn’t the nicest, makes him drink water, takes notes for him during the lessons he misses, and just generally stays by his side as long as he can, until madam pomfrey has to kick him out
sirius worries so much during and after the full moon that it often makes remus feel guilty, but he also finds it really sweet that sirius cares so much
he still tries to make sirius see sense and stop him from worrying, because he has really bad self esteem issues after the full moon and doesn’t think he deserves it. whenever he tries to tell sirius this, he says that sirius shouldn’t feel obligated to look after him, because he’s a monster.
every single time, sirius will take his hand, look into his eyes, and tell him firmly, ‘you are not a monster, moony.’
peter will then add that ‘you fold your socks, moony, we’re not exactly scared of you.’
and remus will wonder how he got so lucky as to have such amazing friends
whenever sirius is ill, remus will try his best to return the favour. sirius will insist that he doesn’t get ill, ‘don’t worry, remus, I’m fine’, even though he can barely move
but remus won’t listen, and turns into a proper mother hen, fussing over him and making sure he has everything he need, just trying to repay sirius for all he does during the full moons
illness = constant cuddles
but lbr there are constant cuddles regardless
they got together because they both kept confiding in james and lily about their unrequited feelings and how hopelessly in love they were, and james and lily got sick of it and decided to work together to set them up bc they were both so hopelessly oblivious.
that’s also how lily got to know james better, and see that he wasn’t as arrogant as she thought, and he actually cares deeply about his friends
but these are wolfstar headcanons not jily so moving on
they had a very touchy feely relationship even before they got together. they were always very close, and their bond was different than it was with james and peter
sirius loves to bake, whilst remus loves to cook, but if they try to do it the other way around, bad things happen
they would often sneak into the kitchens late at night and try to make something, fool around, mess up, and end up snogging surrounded by the mess of ingredients
late nights on the astronomy tower!! they did this even before they got together; when either of them couldn’t sleep, they would go up there and just sit together and look at the stars. their first date was a picnic up there, and it became their own special place where they both felt safe
nose kisses!! forehead kisses!! cheek kisses!! adorable
whenever they're messing about they'll almost always end up in each others arms, saying ‘I hate you’ whilst grinning bc they both know that they don’t mean it and it’s actually the exact opposite
when sirius can’t sleep, he’ll watch remus (in like. a non-creepy way) and count his freckles. once remus caught him in the act and thought it was the softest thing he’d ever seen
remus talks in his sleep. sometimes he just mutters random words that don’t make sense, and sometimes he can have full on conversations with sirius.
sirius thinks it’s the funniest thing ever and teases remus mercilessly about it in the mornings, even though remus has no memory of it and denies everything.
when they’re alone in the hospital wing after a full moon, sirius will hold remus’ hand and sing softly to comfort him and help him sleep.
remus absolutely adores sirius' voice, and tries to get him to sing more, and in front of other people, but sirius is adamant that the only reason he sings to remus is because it helps soothe him, and his voice isn’t all that great.
his lack of self confidence about his voice is due to his parents constantly yelling at him to stop singing, because they said it was annoying and he didn’t have a good voice, and he believed them, and still does. It’s one of his biggest insecurities.
the first time they said they loved each other was actually an accident. they had gotten all caught up in planning a prank and sirius smirked and said, ‘aren’t i just the most creative person you’ve ever met?’, with a dramatic flip of his hair
remus just chuckled and replied, ‘that’s why I love you.’
remus didn’t even realise he’d said it out loud until he saw sirius staring at him with a dropped jaw.
then remus panicked, but before he could get up and leave, sirius grinned and said it back.
and then they kissed, obviously
remus may be tough and sarcastic and sirius may be proud and overconfident but they’re both big softies really
remus cheers sirius on at every single quidditch practice, come rain or shine
he says he’s just supporting his boyfriend, but secretly he thinks Sirius looks really good in that quidditch jersey
remus loves it when sirius wears eyeliner. no reason. just looks cool.
literally everyone had a bet on when they would get together. minnie and dumbledore, james and pete, lily and marlene, james and lily, james and dorcas...
james likes betting
there are frequent updates on their relationship in the staff room, because all of the teachers just know they're meant to be
the teachers had a field day when they first got together
madam pomfrey, especially, always sees them together in the hospital wing, and by fourth year, is their no1 shipper
they both get frequent nightmares, and will always comfort each other and cuddle after because they feel safe in each other’s arms.
literally the least toxic relationship ever. they’re both incredibly honest with each other, always talk to each other about how they feel, but also have that perfect balance of banter
if not soulmates, why moon and stars??

James and Sirius live together. during a meeting with friends, someone makes a comment that James is a terrible neighbor, to which Sirius either agrees or just laughs. despite the fact that it is a joke, James seriously thinks about it and comes to the conclusion that it is true. then James packs up his things to move out while Sirius is away, bc he knows that Sirius will try to talk him out of it (out of politeness?) Sirius catches him before he leaves. what happens next?
Adult parties were weird. When they were kids, parties were basically getting together with your friends while all your parents all talked. When they got a little older, they played games. They got to be teenagers and spent all their parties drinking while they played games.
Then they got to be the adults at parties-- without kids, for now at least-- and they were weird. James enjoyed himself. There wasn't any disputing that, but it was kind of weird. He didn't feel old, but all of them were sitting around-- well, okay, some of them were standing but his point remained the same-- sipping wine and snacking as they caught up.
Because that's all they did at these parties: they caught up with each other. He learned that Marlene's boss had come onto her even though he was married, Dorcas went and threatened him after it happened, and Lily had tried to be supportive about it all but mostly ended up laughing. Work complaints dominated the conversations since that's all any of them spent time doing, but most of them weren't as colourful as Marlene's. Little things. Like Mary's coworker that always asked to borrow a quill and never returned it, but she didn't feel like she could say no when they asked. Or Peter's boss, who always gave him enough time for a project, then asked why it wasn't done halfway through that time limit. James, for his part, liked to complain about the other people on the Quidditch team.
They were all still friends from Hogwarts, but that didn't mean the group hadn't expanded. James and Sirius were the only official couple-- less official and more like they were still dating between one party and the next-- but there were a few other people that were flatmates. James and Sirius lived together, obviously, and then there was Lily and Remus. Everyone else either lived on their own or with a flatmate that none of the rest of them knew. Alice's flatmate had been homeschooled, and apparently was very difficult to live with.
James didn't think anything about the way the conversation he was a part of moved to talking about the person you live with until Lily said to Sirius, "-and he said that James did the same thing in Hogwarts! And I was like 'er, if you want us to keep living together, you have to stop that right now and forever'. He said he'd think about it, but come on! It's like the worst thing in the world, isn't it?" and Sirius laughed. He didn't say, "Yeah, totally," or nod, but he laughed, and it made James feel sick to his stomach, like the wine was churning in his stomach.
"Remus has always been a bit of a tosser," is what Sirius actually replied, and it didn't make James feel any better. He hadn't really been part of the conversation, content to sit on the side and sip at his drink, sometimes paying attention and sometimes not.
It was a pretty unfortunate time for him to be paying attention, but it probably didn't mean anything. Him and Sirius got on each other's nerves sometimes with their little quirks; it didn't mean anything deeper.
*
James couldn't get it out of his head. He tried to tell himself that Lily had just been venting, Sirius had only replied to the part about Remus and not his own boyfriend, but the more he thought about it, the worse he felt.
He'd brushed it off by saying that him and Sirius had disagreements about their living habits sometimes, but that wasn't true, wasn't it? Sirius didn't do things that James didn't like; James did things that Sirius didn't like. Sirius would talk to him about it, James would get pissy, and they'd compromise.
Why the hell did they compromise? James liked to do everything his way, it's true, but Sirius had never been wrong when he complained. James did rubbish like leave food out overnight and never folded his laundry, and when Sirius asked him to be more mindful, James had pretty much refused. Oh he'd done it in a way that wasn't angry and came across as more joking, but he'd still refused. That had still been the end result: him refusing to do the simplest things. The 'compromise' had been for Sirius to doublecheck the counters before crawling in bed. The 'compromise' had been for Sirius to put the clothes on the couch when they were done, because if James could see it right next to him, he'd fold it just to have something to do with his hands.
And once he'd started thinking of that, he'd realised that he didn't really do a fair share of the household chores. He did dishes, and he cooked, but what else? He hadn't put a lot of thought to it before, but when was the last time he'd cleaned the toilet? Or the kitchen? He didn't do most of the regular household cleaning, and he was as hell didn't do any deep cleaning, like washing the drapes or scrubbing the windows-- both of which he'd seen Sirius do before. He'd always assumed that if Sirius wanted help, he'd ask for it. That had been a rubbish excuse, and he knew it now.
The only real question left was: why the sodding hell had Sirius put up with all of this for so long?
The answer, unfortunately, was obvious. He put up with it because he loved James.
James had never had to question whether or not Sirius loved him, because he said it all the time. When they graduated from Hogwarts, Sirius had told him that he never wanted to live without him. When they decided to move into the same room instead of having two separate beds, Sirius had told him that he loved him more than he'd known was possible. Over the years, it was obvious that that hadn't changed. Sirius still loved him; Sirius would let him get away with anything if it meant they were still together.
And again, compare Sirius's feelings on that to the disagreements they had when Sirius tried to talk to him about something that was bothering him, and it was just easier to let it go.
James knew that if Sirius was presented with the options of keeping James and having to do everything himself, or losing James and getting the perfect flatmate (or boyfriend), Sirius would choose him.
No matter how miserable he otherwise was, he'd choose James. He'd choose James because he honestly believed that he didn't deserve better-- he didn't think that he deserved James, either, but James had worked pretty hard on making sure that Sirius knew that he loved him too.
Sirius would never tell him to leave or be better. James could always try to be better-- and he certainly would be, in the future-- but for now, with Sirius, he knew that he couldn't salvage that. Not completely. He could get better about the chores and the laundry, but he wouldn't be able to trust that Sirius would tell him about any new problems they had. Hell, he couldn't even trust, that he'd caught everything. What else was there that Sirius wasn't drawing his attention to? How often did Sirius put aside what he wanted in favour of something James wanted?
There was no telling.
And James had no idea if Sirius would respond truthfully him if he asked.
There were other options. Better options, probably, but he couldn't think of any. He didn't believe that Sirius would communicate with him if he asked, and he had no way of knowing if what he was doing was wrong without it. Even with it, there was no guarantee that he'd be better.
James had to leave. He had to get away and clear his head. Do some self-reflecting and figure out what kind of person he was versus who he wanted to be.
He'd taken Sirius for granted; he'd taken his presence and his love for granted. He hadn't put in the effort that he should have. He knew that relationships took work, and he'd been putting in only half the effort that Sirius deserved.
Yeah. He needed space. He had to get time away from Sirius and get his head on straight. Did he want to live without Sirius? Of course not. Did he want to break up with Sirius? Hell no. But he thought that it would be better in the long run. For both of them. He had to remember that this was going to turn out for the best, for both of them.
It was still hard to start packing up his things. He'd have to talk to Sirius about it-- he wasn't going to just vanish without an explanation, and after everything else, Sirius definitely deserved to know what was happening-- but there was no need to draw it out. Sirius was at work, so James had plenty of time to get his clothes into the suitcase. He left anything that could've been considered both of theirs where it was. He hadn't put any effort into their life together, so he didn't have any claim to the objects that might represent it. Besides, what would he do with dishes? He was going to the Leaky while he looked for a new place; he wouldn't need dishes or a laundry basket or towels of his own. When he found a new flat, there'd be plenty of time to buy all those things.
James had to cast an expansion charm on his suitcase, and then he sat heavily on the couch.
Everything was packed. This was it. Sirius was going to get home in about an hour, and then he'd have to tell him that he was leaving. He didn't know how he was going to tell him. How the hell did he even start that conversation? 'We need to talk'? 'I need to tell you something'? That one made it sound like he was cheating.
He was going to go drop off his bag and book a room at the Leaky and then come back.
It would be... neater.
He got to his feet and picked up the suitcase. They didn't have a floo linked to their flat since they both preferred apparation, so he turned to the door, only to freeze in place when Sirius opened the door.
"Hey," Sirius said with a smile. He kicked off his shoes like he always did.
"You're home early," James said, feeling panic start to seep into him. His heart was hammering against his ribcage like it wanted to break free. He'd thought that he had more time until he had to do this. Another hour to get it in his head that it was the end and come to terms with it.
"Yeah," Sirius said, still not noticing that anything was amiss. "I figured I could call it an early weekend since I had to work so late the last two days." He stretched his arms over his head with a satisfied groan. "Working at a desk all day really doesn't do me any favours," he said, turning to James with a grin. That was when he noticed James's expression. "Are you alright?"
James reached up with his free hand and rubbed at his face. "Erm."
"What's with the suitcase? I'm pretty sure you have to tell your boyfriend before you go on holiday," Sirius joked. He knew that something was wrong, but he was still joking because he had no idea which direction this was going to go.
James felt like the worst person in the world. "I was going to the Leaky."
"Well that doesn't count as a holiday," Sirius said. He reached for James, and James stepped back. Sirius froze, hand in front of him. "James?"
He swallowed thickly. He hadn't planned what to say. He didn't know what to do that might soften the blow. "I'm moving out."
"What?"
"I-" James stopped, his throat working. "I'm leaving you. I'm going to stay at the Leaky until I find a new place."
Sirius was struck dumb. He stared at James with wide, disbelieving eyes, not moving.
James tightened his grip on the suitcase. He couldn't leave unless Sirius moved, and he wasn't going to push him to the side. When he'd made this decision, he'd agreed that he would tell Sirius why he was doing it. Not all of it, because Sirius would try to tell him that it wasn't true-- he'd say anything to make him stay-- but he deserved an explanation of some sort for all of the time they'd spent together. "I don't think we're happy together."
"What? I was happy. When weren't you happy? You always looked happy to me. If I did something that made you-"
"You didn't do anything," James said miserably. "I swear you didn't. I did some thinking and realised that I haven't been... I need some time to think. I need space, and I don't think that we were good together."
"We aren't good together?" Sirius repeated. "What the hell does that mean? We were perfect together."
He swallowed again. He knew that he had a lot to make up for, and a hundred different things to apologise to Sirius about, but he didn't want to get into that right now. If he brought it up, they'd just end up arguing. Once Sirius had some time to get used to them being apart, then they could talk about all the details. Rather, James could apologise, and maybe Sirius wouldn't argue with him over it. "I disagree. Look, I- I really think we should get some space from each other before we talk about it."
"No! There's no sodding point in putting it off if we can figure it out. James, just- for fuck's sake, listen to yourself," Sirius said, putting his hands on either side of James's face desperately. "We're happy. We've been happy, and we will continue to be for years. Nothing's changed. If you need some space, I can move to the other room for a few days. Or- hell, a month, however long it takes, but don't do this. We don't need to break up. You can sort yourself out here fine; you don't need to go the Leaky and make yourself miserable. Just stay here and everything will be fine."
James shook his head. No, nothing had changed, but that was the problem. James brought up a hand and put it on Sirius's arm to get him to let go, but he found his touch lingering, savouring. "I'm going to miss you," James whispered. He was going to miss going to bed next to him and waking up the next morning, warm and content. His smile, his laugh, the way he got everything wet after a shower because he didn't dry his hair, his leather jacket by the door, the way he kicked off his shoes like he couldn't stand them the second he was home... everything.
He leaned in, pressing a last kiss to Sirius's lips.
Sirius's grip on him went slack. "Please," Sirius whispered against his mouth as tears spilled over.
"I'm sorry." James pulled away and-
He walked out. It was as simple as that. One foot in front of the other. He fished the key from his pocket and dropped it before opening the door. He stepped through, closed the door, and turned on his heel, casting a spell he'd done a hundred times. It felt no different this time to disapparate and land in Diagon Alley right outside of the Leaky Cauldron.
It should've been easy to do all of that, but James could hardly breathe. Sirius was the best thing that had happened to him, and he'd just left him. Abandoned him.
He tried to shake that thought loose.
He didn't abandon Sirius. He told him that he was leaving. Sirius still had the flat and all his belongings, not to mention all his friends. He had plenty of people to turn to if he needed support. He'd be fine.
*
James had a length of parchment as long as his arm, and he'd been working on a comprehensive list of everything he'd done wrong in his relationship with Sirius. Not every little mistake and time he'd snapped when he was angry, but the patterns he'd fallen into. The things he'd done that showed a disregard for being part of a partnership.
The chores, the thing with the milk, the laundry, that all went on the list-- they were the first things he wrote down since they'd already been on his mind. He'd been staying at the Leaky Cauldron for a week now, and he felt like the list was complete. It was like a testament of his sins, of all the reasons he'd been right to leave because Sirius deserved so much better.
His mind told him it had been the correct decision at the same time his heart screamed in pain.
He missed Sirius. It was like missing half of his self. Any time he left to buy food instead of eating the inn's meals, he bought too much, like he was buying for two and not one. He'd see a ridiculous ad in the Prophet and wanted to turn the paper to show Sirius.
It was going to take a while for him to get used to the change. That's all this was. Sirius had been a part of his life for over a decade. He wasn't going to get used to not seeing him after only a week.
Someone knocked on the door, and James got to his feet to answer it, assuming it was Tom. He didn't know if Tom pitied him or if he did it for all the people that stayed there longer than a night, but he'd taken to checking in on James-- ostensibly to make sure the 'accommodations were still satisfactory'. He opened the door, and instead of Tom, it was Lily.
It was obviously a day that she had off from work, because she was dressed down, hair pulled back, and she wasn't wearing any makeup. "Hey," she said with a small smile. "Can I come in?"
"Yeah. Er, sure," he said, stepping back. There was a small table with two chairs in all the rooms, so James sat down and hid the list from view as she closed the door.
Lily walked over and took the other chair, crossing her legs and putting one arm on the table so she could lean onto it. "How've you been?" She knew about the breakup. James hadn't told anyone, but the sympathy in her face was hard to misplace. Not to mention that she'd known to look for him here.
"I'm fine," he lied. "How's Sirius?"
"A mess. It would almost be interesting to see what someone looks like after having their heart ripped out if I wasn't wondering what the hell you were thinking when you did it. So James, what the hell were thinking? This isn't like you. Sirius means the world to you, and he's hurting right now. You shouldn't be the cause of it, you should be there, comforting him."
"You didn't even ask what happened."
"You said you were fine. If you didn't think this was your fault, you would've been more open about it. Maybe not with me, because I know we don't talk about our feelings with each other all the time, but you would've given me something different than what you'd tell some sodding stranger." She took a deep breath. "Look. Sirius is miserable. You're miserable. You think it's your fault, which-- from where I'm standing-- means this is fixable. If you want to talk to me about it, I'm here. If you'd rather talk to someone else about it, I suggest you give them a visit very soon."
James knew that the smart thing to do would be to tell her that he had the situation in hand, but she was right; he was miserable, and more than that, he was tired of it. He wanted nothing more than to crawl into Sirius's arms and just exist with him again. "Do you remember that party a few weeks ago? You were whinging about something Remus does that drives you barmy."
"I remember."
"And Remus said that I did it too."
"Yeah."
"And Sirius laughed it off."
"I can't say I remember that part too well, but okay. Where are you going with this?"
"I'm terrible to live with. Any time Sirius tried to correct me on something, I blew him off, and he only ever did it for little things anyways. I'm- I was a horrible flatmate-- and by extension boyfriend-- and he didn't talk to me. For a couple things, yeah, he did try to talk to me and I didn't listen, but the rest of it? He never mentioned anything. He shouldn't have had to, I know that now, but it's... I couldn't ask for him to forgive all that."
Lily blinked, slowly digesting that. "So you broke up because you were doing a whole bunch of annoying things around the flat? Is that what you're saying?"
"It's not just the stuff around the flat; it's what it meant. Sirius was having to do everything, and I was acting like a tosser about it for no good reason."
She nodded. "I can see where you're coming from. You want my advice?"
"I'm not sure there's any advice to be given about a relationship that's already finished," James said.
"Do you want my advice or not?"
James motioned as if to say 'go ahead'.
"That's definitely a problem, but I don't think it's something worth breaking up over. Did Sirius say that it was bothering him? Rhetorical question, I know he didn't. He has no idea what's going on. He's convinced you fell out of love with him and never said anything."
"What?" James asked, aghast. "That's ridiculous!"
"You can get into that later. My point is that maybe you did have things that you needed to work on, but all of them combined still don't look like a good enough reason to breakup. You have a problem like that, and you talk about it. You don't bail."
"How would you know? You've never dated anyone for longer than two months. Sirius and I have been together since we were sixteen. It's not really the same."
"Lucky for you, then, that I'm not giving this advice based on my own personal experience. I've never found someone that I can get on with for long enough to have these problems, but I do pay attention. From where I'm sitting, it looks like you had a real problem in your relationship for the first time, and you panicked."
"I didn't panic," James denied. It was a bit of a lie because he had panicked, but it's not like he'd thought of it and then run for the hills. "I looked at the situation and came to the conclusion that we couldn't fix it."
"You came to that decision all by yourself? Without talking to Sirius?"
"That's what 'by myself' means, yes."
"And you don't see a problem with that? That you thought there was this big problem in your relationship and you didn't talk to your partner about it?"
"I'm not really hearing anything that makes me want to change my mind."
"I think Sirius deserves better from you."
James went quiet. "I told him," he said slowly, "that it wasn't his fault."
"Is there a reason you didn't tell him all of this?"
"Yes," James said and didn't elaborate. Lily was judging him enough without him admitting that he hadn't talked to Sirius because he didn't trust him to be honest.
With the time that had passed-- or maybe it was just the space-- that reason didn't sound as good as it had when he left.
He blew out a breath. "Look, thanks for coming by, but we can deal with this on our own."
Lily's expression was tight like she wanted to argue, but eventually she said, "Fine," and got to her feet. "Don't be afraid to owl if you ever want to chat or get tea or summat, yeah?"
"Yeah. It was good to see you."
She left, but the effect her conversation had on James lingered. Maybe he'd overreacted a little. He could've talked to Sirius about it. He should've. He hadn't wanted to bring all of it up with him though, only for Sirius to insist that it wasn't a big deal. He hadn't trusted Sirius to tell him the truth if it did bother him, and if Sirius hadn't realised before that it bothered him, he'd thought that with his absence, Sirius would figure it out.
But James was miserable, and if Lily was to be believed, Sirius was miserable too. The last thing James wanted was to make Sirius sad. He'd broken up with him because he'd genuinely thought that it was the best option.
He'd gotten the time and space that he'd asked for, and he'd changed his mind-- with a little help from Lily, but he wasn't in the mood to admit that to her. The next step would be to talk to Sirius about it, the way he should have from the beginning.
With a sigh, James got to his feet and put on his shoes. He'd check by the flat and see if Sirius was there. If he wasn't, then James would send him a letter and ask if he wanted to talk. The only reason he didn't do that first was because he didn't want to make Sirius worry. If he showed up and they could talk, it would be easier than planning a big meeting and letting both of them get anxious about it.
He walked down to Diagon before disapparating, landing on the welcome mat for their flat. He knocked on the door, then ran a hand through his hair anxiously. What if Sirius told him to get lost? What if they could've worked through the original issues, but James leaving was too much for Sirius to forgive?
The door opened, and James's mind went blank.
"Hey," Sirius said, reserved. There were dark circles under his eyes, but he'd always had trouble getting to sleep. He had his hair pulled back too, which usually meant that he was too tired to take a shower. Sirius looked basically the same way he always did, if a little more worn out; James probably looked a hell of a lot worse.
"Erm. Yeah, hi. Hello." James winced at how awkward that sounded, ruffling his hair some more. "I was... hoping we could talk? About us?"
"Yeah, sure," Sirius said easily, opening the door wide and stepping aside to give James space.
The door closed, and James turned to him, blurting, "Are you mad at me?"
Sirius blinked, confused. "Like, for breaking up with me? I mean, yeah, a little. It came out of nowhere, and you kept saying that we weren't happy together."
"That's not- I mean, yes, that's good to know, but that's not what I meant. Before that. When we were living together like normal. Were you mad at me?"
"No? What kind of question is that? Did you really move out because you thought I was mad at you for some imagined slight?"
"No."
"No?"
"It was more like-" James shifted his weight uncomfortably. "It was more like I thought about all the stuff you were doing around the flat that I refused to help with. Or that thing with the milk? All you did was ask me to put it away when I was done, and instead of saying yes like a good boyfriend, I sodding made you do it."
Sirius blinked at him again. "You left," he said slowly, "because you thought I was pissed off about the milk and the fact that you don't clean the shower."
"It sounds stupid when you say it like that," James muttered.
"I don't care about the sodding milk. Or the way you leave your laundry sitting around for days even though you end up having to wash it again. Does that annoy me? Yeah, but it's- it's not worth you."
"See, that," James said, pointing at him. "That's why I didn't talk to you about first. I knew you'd make excuses and say that it didn't matter to you even when it does."
"You broke up with me because I don't punish you for doing shite that bothers me?" Sirius asked incredulously. "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You break up with someone because you don't love them anymore or because they've done something you can't forgive, not because you don't always clean the sodding flat."
"But you deserve better. You shouldn't have to do all of that, and you shouldn't have to put up with someone that just lets it happen! I wasn't about to tell you that you have to forgive me over and over when I bugger up."
"Who the hell have you been dating this entire time? Do you even know me? It's me, James. I clean the toilet, like, every single week because it gives me something to do. It doesn't need to be cleaned that often, but you know how I am about cleaning-- or at least you knew when we first moved in together."
"You said it cleared your head," James said, remembering. Bugger. How had he forgotten that? He'd spent weeks thinking about this, and not once had he remembered the way Sirius cleaned his room at the Potter's house every single week like clockwork. At Hogwarts had been different because of the house elves, but when Sirius was anywhere else, he liked to clean. Turn on some music, and he spent a couple hours up to his elbows in cleaning charms and loving it.
"Yeah, so why would this be any different? The milk thing- okay, I admit that one did kind of piss me off, but everything else? Even the laundry thing is annoying when it gets in my way, but I don't actually care. Just- for Merlin's sake, come home. I hate it here without you."
"I thought you'd be happier without me," James said quietly, because it was important to him that Sirius knew where he'd come from. The chores were the details that he'd been wrong about, but the conclusion had come from a place of caring.
Next thing he knew, Sirius was hugging him, arms almost painfully tight. James hugged him back, just as firmly. "Next time you think that, for fuck's sake, ask me first. I'm happy with you."
James swallowed thickly. "I happy with you too. Does this mean I can move back in?"
"If you don't, I'm kidnapping you."

Comfort jily
bc honestly they are my comfort couple and when I think about jily and their essence I just imagine comfort
When Lily got the news she felt the world shift beneath her. She sat silently in a state of shock for a moment, clutching the letter in one hand. For a minute she was transported. She forgot she was at Hogwarts eating breakfast with her friends, beginning to prepare for their next set of exams.
For just a moment, she was eight again. She and Tuney were still best friends. She didn’t know what magic was. Her mum called her and Petunia inside because dad was home from work and it was time for dinner. Lily and her sister ran inside to give their father a hug, and then sit down for dinner.
But as little Lily raised a spoonful of soup to her mouth, seventeen-year-old Lily’s fork clattered loudly onto the Gryffindor table. Pairs of eyes whipped up to the ruckus and Lily briefly registered a light hand on her elbow.
“Lily, are you alright?” She thinks the voice was Marlene, but the world around her was turning to static and before anyone could comment on the tears already streaming down her face, Lily was up and gone out of the Great Hall, letter still clutched in hand.
She didn’t notice all of her friends sitting silently in shock for a moment. Nor did she notice the first person to get up and go after her.
All that Lily could focus on was the fact that she couldn’t breathe. She was trying so hard but it felt like her lungs were betraying her. Every intake burned in her chest as it scraped through her bronchioles. Every outtake was a loud shudder that shook her ribcage. She couldn’t get enough oxygen.
She stumbled her way into an abandoned classroom and sank to the floor against a wall, too caught up to worry about locking the door. With her knees to her chest, elbows on knees, and her face in her hands, she tried desperately to fight for the air her body needed.
But with every breath, a new memory forced it’s way through her consciousness, which only caused her to sob harder. Right when she thought she could pass out, she vaguely heard the rattling of a door and footsteps approach.
By the time the figure was at her eye-level, Lily’s eyes were blown wide and her fingers were tangled roughly in her hair. She could see a mouth moving in front of her but the static covered up any sound. There was a flick of a wand in her periphery and her breathing became slightly easier. The tears didn’t stop, but her brain seemed to be getting more oxygen and her breathing wasn’t as ragged as before.
There were hands on her shoulders and she started to make out the sounds of a familiar voice.
“Evans—hey—can you hear me?” James asked, a bit frantically, Lily noticed. She nodded her head in response and James let out a sigh as he nodded his head along with her.
“Oh, thank Merlin. I’ve been practically yelling at you for the past five minutes.” Lily merely let out a sniffle in reply. She didn’t have a witty remark—or any reply, really. Lily noticed numbly that she didn’t feel like she had anything anymore.
This realisation caused her to break into another fit of tears, burying her face in her elbows. James scooted to sit next to her and put his arm around her shoulders, pulling her tightly into his chest. Lily allowed herself to be comforted by the dark-haired boy. She didn’t know what to do, she felt so lost, but James was warm and whispering comforting words in her ear I’m here, it’s going to be okay, I’ve got you. His presence grounded her.
James stroked Lily’s back soothingly and never let up on his grip on her. She didn’t know what she did to deserve this. She’d always been so mean to James. Of course, there were times when he definitely deserved it, but there were also times when he didn’t.
When Lily quieted enough for James to feel comfortable speaking, he delicately pulled away enough to cause a whimper to fall out of Lily’s mouth. James’s heart broke at the sight of her. She looked unbelievably devastated. He could only wonder what the letter said. He softly tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and ducked his head to meet her eyes. Cradling her cheek in his hand, James asked softly,
“What happened, Lily?” Her bottom lip quivered and she could do nothing but thrust the letter in front of him. He took it carefully and read the words that caused Lily to spiral. Her parents were dead. He didn’t bother to read further because he had enough information to know what caused Lily to feel like this and all he cared about was fixing that.
James pulled her into his arms arms again and rocked her as she began to cry again.
“I’m so, so sorry Lily. I’m so sorry.”
“It’s hurts.” She cried out. Her fists were twisting his sweater and her entire body leaned into him, desperate to crawl into the warmth that was James Potter and never come back out.
“I know it hurts. But I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll do whatever you need.” James allowed himself to plant a firm kiss to the top of her head and held her close.
“Just please don’t leave me.” She whispered. James shook his head.
“Never.”
For the rest of that day, James stayed true to his word. He skipped his classes and instead accompanied Lily to the dorm room. He tucked her into his bed and snuck down to the kitchens to grab her any comfort foods he could get his hands on.
When he made his way back up, he found Lily sitting in front of the fire, parchment in front of her and quill gripped tightly. She appeared to be fighting for words.
“Hey, what’s going on?” He tucked a stray hand behind her ear again (a habit he seemed to be forming quickly).
“I, um, I’m trying to write to my sister,” she croaked, “but I’ve realised that I don’t even know her current address.” She gave a watery laugh. “Isn’t that ridiculous? My sister. My—my only living relative hasn’t spoken to me in years, and I have no idea where she lives!” She laughed hysterically and James scooted closer to her.
“Lily…” He started warily, but she cut him off.
“My only living relative!” This time she shouted. The laughing had stopped and the tears returned. Before either of them realised what was happening Lily’s body sank into his chest. James didn’t hesitate: he curled his arms around her and rested his chin over her shoulder, softly swaying left to right.
“My only living relative.” Lily whispered, so softly James wouldn’t have heard it if he weren’t right next to her. “My entire family is just one person who hates me.” James stiffened at that and forced Lily forward to turn her around and lift her shaking chin up so she could look him in the eyes.
“Lily, I love you, and I know how much you’re grieving right now, but I need you to understand one thing for me, okay?” Brushing past his confession and the colour filling Lily’s cheeks, James continued,
“I know your parents have died and nothing can replace them. But Petunia is not your only family. You have Marls and Dora and Mary and Remus and Sirius and Peter and me.” He finished. He cradled the redhead’s puffy cheeks and wiped the tear streaks away.
“We may not be blood but we are your family. And we’re here for you, however you need us.” Lily nodded deftly and allowed James’ words to wash over her.
She closed her eyes and allowed new memories to infiltrate her mind. Studying with Remus, helping Peter with potions, giggling with the girls in the dormitory, Marlene helping Lily learn how to do a fierce dark lipstick, she and Sirius cackling over a joke only they understood, and James. Yelling at James, hexing James, hating James, befriending James, asking him for help with transfiguration, snuggling into his side, warm with fire whiskey.
With him right in front of her, James filled her senses and before she allowed herself to second guess anything, her hand shot out and pulled him by the sweater into a kiss.
It wasn’t a snog because Lily was tired and pretty sure she still had snot on her face, but it wasn’t just a peck either. Their lips slotted together slowly, and James’s grip on her face tightened. When she pulled back, she could hear James’ shaky breath.
“Lily…” he managed out.
“Thank you.” She replied softly, looking into his warm brown eyes. She hoped that James could tell everything that she wanted to say just from those two words. Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for loving me. I love you too, so much. James nodded, eyes blown wide in shock and Lily let out her first giggle of the day, allowed the first smile to etch its way onto her face.
Lily allowed herself to sink into James and his warmth again. Despite his shock, his body reacted to hers and held her tight. James was so warm, Lily thought to herself. She wanted to wrap him around her like a blanket.
It wasn’t like everything was all of a sudden perfectly fine again. Lily’s parents were still dead and there was still a terrifying war going on outside, but James was right. Lily still had a family, and they would hold her when she cried, support her as she grieved, and fight by her side until the very end.

Like Father Like Daughter
Father! Remus x Daughter! Reader
Also Reader x Oliver Wood, but lightly, a couple kisses xx
Authors note: I SUCK at time, years, and counting, I do not know what the deal is in 1975 in the HP universe so please please excuse that, merci lovely reader. Also! This was requested over a year ago although, as we know that’s about how long it takes me to write shit.
Request: Remus having a 7th year prefect daughter and not knowing until he teaches her?
Summary: Set during POA
Warnings: ANGST and daddy issues! Death! Bc I like trauma
Word Count: 1.9k
After an incredibly eventful train ride to school, and ensuring that Harry and his friends were okay, Remus hurried up to the headmaster's office. As it was his first year teaching there, and considering all that was going on with Sirius Black Dumbledore scheduled a meeting with the new professor.
“I don’t anticipate it will be an easy year, but no year here is ever easy or simple. Especially since Harry arrived on campus,” Dumbledore said.
“It was nice to see him again, he’s gotten so old, and he looks so much like James,” Remus said, melancholy lacing his voice.
“The boy could use some good positive reinforcement from somebody who knew his parents so personally. Please, do not share information regarding Sirius, I would rather not bring him down. Instead, I would prefer he focuses on his studies. Especially since we have such a talented Defense Against the Dark Arts professor this year,” Dumbledore said.
“Of course, now is that all for now?” Remus asked as he gathered his things, wanting to spend some time on the grounds before the student's arrival.
“Yes, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this year. I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what Hogwarts has to offer.”
“I’m sorry?” He asked, pausing to look at the headmaster, confused by his statement on the school.
“Oh nothing,” Dumbledore said with one of his signature winks.
Remus smiled, unsure how else to respond. “Well, I’ll see you at the feast later tonight.”
“Certainly,” Dumbledore said, seemingly having forgotten about his odd statement, already focusing on something on his desk.
Meanwhile, Y/n went along with her boyfriend, Oliver Wood to the feast.
“I wonder what kind of crazy shit will happen this year,” you said, thinking aloud.
“Maybe we’ll get a somewhat normal year for once,” he proposed, hopefully. “And a good bloody season.”
“At Hogwarts?” You retorted. “Impossible. And of course you’ll have a good season, you’re the best damn quidditch player I’ve ever seen.”
Despite a bit of red flushing his cheeks, Wood brushed off the comment. “I wonder who this years Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is.”
“I haven’t heard anything,” she said with a shrug.
“Well we’ll see,” he said and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Enjoy your feast with Weasley.”
You smiled back at him, “Oh I will, it’s a promise.” you said before splitting, as you went to go meet with Percy Weasley, and Dumbledore before the feast's official start.
The feast went as normal for Y/n, she was mostly preoccupied with seeing friends she hadn’t seen since the last school year ended, and her head girl duties. Being a Gryffindor she felt that the year would present some challenges, considering the difficulties her house had caused in the past two years. Y/n had nothing against Harry Potter, in fact she was quite fond of him, having tutored him in a couple of subjects. Although, she understood the trouble he and his friends were fond of.
Remus on the other hand was unnerved at the announcement of the Head Girls last name, La Rosa. Her being Head Girl meant she was a seventh year, meaning she must have been born in 1976. The math happened in his head faster than Remus would like to admit. Remus absolutely knew a La Rosa in 1975 who managed a disappearing act after a couple of months together, and a small scare of sorts. Although, he brushed off the arithmetic, and Dumbledore’s dubious wink with a large swig of wine, which earned him a judgemental scoff from Snape.
Eventually, of course, the feast ended and the tired first years returned to their rooms while friends and couples reunited, and Filch stalked the halls with Mrs. Norris close behind.
Both Remus and Y/n’s day started off with breakfast in the Great Hall as each had a first period in their schedule. Y/n’s day kicked off with charms, and ended with Defense Against the Dark Arts. She ate breakfast with Oliver and a couple of their friends, yet left early enough so that the two could walk to class together without him being late. They had a couple of classes together but knew that as the year went on their other half would respectively get quite busy.
Y/n was having a fantastic first day, excited for lunch she made her way from the Towers to the Hall, which was abuzz with talk of “Professor Lupin.”
“He let us do actual magic in class!” you heard one third year exclaim with a great deal of excitement.
“I’m just glad he didn’t prattle on about his book deal for the entire period,” some Ravenclaw said to their friend which made Y/n laugh.
“How was Snape?” Wood asked as you sat down next to him, he had sent a couple of letters over summer bragging about how he wouldn’t be taking Potions, and she was.
“The same, angry that he isn’t teaching DADA, now I’m more intrigued by this Professor Lupin,” you responded.
“Merlin, Y/n, it’s the only bloody thing I’ve heard all day!”
“I heard someone earlier say, ‘I’m glad he didn’t brag about his book deal through the whole class.’” You responded with a giggle.
“I can’t believe they ever hired that man,” Wood said with a snort.
With that the two of you started lunch, your friends Ethel and Roberto joining you only a little while into the block.
You had a couple of classes and a free period from the time spanning between lunch and when you finally got to step into Professor Lupin’s class. The buzz about the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. had turned into a roar in just a few hours.
Despite being early you were not the first student in the class. It being a seventh-year course there were only eight of you taking the class, and there were already five of your peers sitting at desks. One of which being your boyfriend who had saved you a seat near the front of the class.
“You are late La Rosa,” he rudely teased as you set your things down and sat next to him.
“You know I can go find another seat, right?” As if on cue the last of your classmates filed in and filled the last couple of seats.
“Can you?” He asked with a goofy smile plastered over his face.
“Well Weasley owes me a favor and I’m sure you’d love to sit next to him for the whole three hour period.” “Oh that’s just cruel sweetheart.” Before you could retort your new professor walked into the room, immeadiatley silencing the class. Oftentimes the last class of the day meant students were groggy, and had shorter attention spans than usual, but this class was on high alert.
“Good afternoon, let’s go ahead and introduce ourselves however you deem fit. My name is Remus Lupin, and I am clearly your Defense Against the Dark Arts instructor this year, any questions?”
In response you along with a couple of your peers shook your head ‘no’.
“Fantastic, let’s go ahead and start with our Head Boy, if you could introduce yourself sir?”
Percy excitedly introduced himself to the class, not failing to make the new professor aware of his many, many achievements, after him a slytherin you had a strong level of distaste for, and on it went until you were left as the last student to introduce herself.
“My name is Y/f/n Y/m/n La Rosa, I want to write spell books once I leave Hogwarts, my favorite Quidditch team is Puddlemere, and my favorite food is milk chocolate although I’ve been told chocolate isn’t a food I disagree.” “I have to take your side Miss. La Rosa, chocolate is in fact a food, and deserves its own damn food group,” Lupin shot you a smile, then looked around at the small class. “I feel like you should all be writing down that your professors favorite food is chocolate for when you have to impress me at the end of the year.”
Remus was genuinely confused by Y/n’s presence. He had decent intuition and something about the seventh year was throwing him off, and it wasn’t bad which honestly only confused him more. He decided it would be better to get ahead of it in order to not let his thoughts ruin his teaching.
“Well that’s it, class is over. Miss La Rosa if you wouldn’t mind staying after class for just a moment?” “Of course professor,” you said.
“Ooh in trouble already?” Oliver said and gave you a peck to which you rolled your eyes. “I’ll see you in the common room later love.” “Don’t forget our meeting tonight Y/n,” Percy said as he sauntered out the room which earned a second eye roll from you.
Even though it didn’t take long, it felt like an eternity for the room to clear. All of a sudden your throat was in your heart, or, something. Whatever it was something was happening.
“I know this is going to come off as odd but I have an important question,” Lupin said, his eyes kind, no sense of a reprimand coming.
“Sure Professor, what is it?”
“What’s your mothers name?”
You figured he noticed your last name, and had maybe worked with your mum.
“Marie Dulcinea La Rosa,” you said. “Why?”
Remus’ mind started racing at a million miles an hour. “Did she attend Ilvermorny?” “Yes, is everything alright?” “I’m sorry dear, just two more questions.”
You responded with a single nod.
“Did your mother ever tell you who your father is, and are you a werewolf?”
A look of shock crossed your face and you clutched your bag. “I’m not supposed to answer that question professor.” “Y/n, I am, I also dated a Marie La Rosa in 1975, that same Marie attended Ilvermorny.”
“Are you trying to insinuate-”
“Yes.”
You walked out of the classroom as fast as your feet could carry you. You weren’t quite sure where you were going but you were crying and you wanted to be as far away from Remus Lupin as possible and your mind was far to occupied to think up a destination. Somehow that destination ended up being Dumbledore’s office, which by some means was open to you.
“You must have known, you know everything.” Not the best choice of words but it seemed to get the point across.
“That Professor Lupin is your father? Yes dear I did happen to know that.”
“And how long have you known that?” “Since the year you were born, Y/n, your mother and father both fought in the war and your mother came to me when she was pregnant with you. She didn’t want your father to know because she wanted him to stay and fight when she couldn’t. She wanted to raise you away from the war but she couldn’t ask him to abandon the cause.” “Does he know that she’s dead?” “No I am afraid that he doesn’t.” “Marie is dead?”
You turned to see Remus Lupin standing in the entrance of the office. He was distressed and had clealry followed you to the headmasters office.
You gave a curt nod to answer his question.
“Y/n, I am so sorry, I didn’t know, I shouldn’t have ever let your mother think that I would value anything over her and you.”
“You have to know how hard it is growing up a werewolf with absoluetly no help. With no one to help you through your first transition, with no one to tell you that everything’s going to be okay. Then on top of that growing up thinking that you were nothing to your father, and losing your mum at 14?”
Remus reached into his pocket and pulled out a mostly intact chocolate bar and held it out, towards his daughter.
“Let me fix it? Please.” It was a plea, and a kind request, an apology, all tied up in a chocolate bar.

Yes. Please Open The Box. I've been on hp brainrot cause I've been rewatching the movies with my mom. Please
i feel like i have a lot of opinions that are popular opinions, and fuck terfs, but nonetheless:
regulus black would have been the perfect example of a brave slytherin that albus was named after
arthur, hagrid, or remus could have served as other father figures instead of albus; tell me hagrid would not burst into tears upon hearing his child was named after him? also, arthur, for both ginny and harry!
i read the occasional drarry fic but it has to be very, very well-written; or, at least, it has to have the understanding that draco has to go through some sort of redemption, either through atoning for his own actions, or an au in which he already has—some fics make him the next-gen spy, a bit like snape
uh, draco and dudley are perfect foils, and people would simp after dudley if he was as “conventionally attractive” as tom felton
dudley had more of a canon redemption arc than draco did
fatphobia is rampant in the series—villains are the vast majority of fat rep, and even good fat characters like molly or hagrid still have faults (hagrid is “big and dumb,” a bit like dudley tbh, and molly is kind of just? a Mother? like that’s her defining character trait. nothing wrong with being a stay at home mom if that’s what you want, of course, it’s just that molly didn’t have much of a personality outside of her children until the later books.)
misogyny too—molly was so mean to hermione in the fourth book and fleur in the sixth, ginny was mean to fleur too, hermione gives off “not like other girls” energy especially concerning lavender and pavarti
poc harry and hermione—sure, jkr says she’s cool with it, but she gets a lot of credit for the bare minimum. she could have written them that way.
there’s a whole lot of white people in hp. wish there’d been better rep
same with dumbledore! it’s so clear she said he’s gay to get better credit for rep that’s barely there, but now she has the chance to expound in it in the fantastic beasts movies, she isn’t planning on addressing it. right. okay.
should i even get into the antisemitism of the goblins
most -isms jkr ticked, tbh, and described better by other people who these -isms directly affect, so i won’t get too much more into it
wish hufflepuffs had more house rep, in general, they mostly just get cedric, and i wish that “good slytherins” were expounded upon, especially concerning the whole “no slytherins stayed” for the final battle you cannot TELL ME that there wasn’t ONE slytherin who had ambitions to fight voldemort
(i’m a ravenclaw, btw)
cho, angelina, and ginny are all overhated; movie!ginny was albeit lacking a lot of the Spice of book ginny, and movie cho got shorted bc they didn’t include marietta as the betrayer of the da, but like. god. pls chill ppl
albus probably considered that sirius was innocent but decided to leave him in azkaban, even though he didn’t know for sure; albus probably also laid out the traps for the stone with eleven-year-olds in mind, just in case harry wanted to try and prove himself; albus was behind a lot of the machinations, and at the very least he left a child to be abused for years on end
i wrote a ten page essay on why snape is a garbage person for that college class i mentioned. i got a perfect score.
like seriously i could talk about how much snape sucks and why him having a crush on lily isn’t redemption, but like. we get it. c’mon. “i see no difference,” threatening to kill a student’s beloved pet, being that student’s worst fear....... come on.
harry should have been the dada professor when he grew up. like it’s right there.
tonks is genderfluid you cannot convince me otherwise
i love wolfstar as much as the next gal, but if we get a marauders tv show slash movie, you know she’d make that shit as straight as possible. no thanks.
someone on tiktok said florence pugh as helga hufflepuff tho and. yeah.
mmm jkr really should have kept her hands off a lot of the international schools; i know she messed up at the very least native american representation, even though native americans requested she not do that, and there are really big Colonization Vibes from those expanded schools. which like, i get, bc colonization was happening, but. still. so many fics have done better with those concepts.
speaking of! fic recs! these are all on ao3
the changeling: slytherin!ginny. takes her through all seven years and addresses various kinds of magic. i absolutely adore it. harry/ginny
boy with a scar series: takes various “what ifs” about the harry potter series and writes them; mostly canon ships
sunshine in my eyes: lily is raised by professor mcgonagall. jily
true, and unafraid of toil: a character study of autistic newt scamander
the dogfather: petunia turns down taking in her son, sirius escapes azkaban much earlier, and harry’s adopted by muggles. only the first year of hogwarts is written out in full, but there’s ficlets that follow through to the end of the wizarding war. wolfstar.
(the completely unwilling participants on) the bachelor: james is the first british bachelor; lily is a journalist who is sent on the show, undercover, by her shitty boss. james/lily
swung by serafim: a characterization of snape that i do not completely hate; i avoid the last two chapters, bc i do not like snarry, it squicks me out, and i didn’t see the tags for it until the very end of the work since it gets more textual in those chapters, and also it involves real life events that feels a bit strange to write about in fic, but. that’s just me. i think there’s cho/harry/cedric in there?
turn: genuinely just one of the best-written harry potter fanfics i’ve ever read. harry after the epilogue gets sent to an alternate universe where things went a little different. drarry
the debt of time: obligatory “hermione gets sent back in time to the marauders” fic; these were super popular on fanfic.net, where i started out, but i read this recently and really really enjoyed it. sirius/hermione, remus/hermione
the pure and simple truth: everyone goes out to a bar. drarry, romione
hogwarts, to welcome you home: harry as the dada professor from mcgonagall’s perspective
stealing harry: sirius never went to azkaban, but harry still went to the dursleys for a bit. it’s written up to part of the third book, but it has notes for how the rest of the series would have turned out. wolfstar
hermione granger’s hogwarts crammer for delinquents on the run: if harry was told he was a wizard at age seventeen, instead of age eleven. drarry
the reclamation of black magic: harry’s grandmother dorea was in a coma and never died. now she’s come to adopt her grandson and seek a reckoning on the wizarding world. this is unfinished and is in harry’s first year; sirius black/remus, for a bit, but also remus/female oc and sirius/male oc; probably harry/hermione, by the end of it.
if any of you have fic recs (especially fics featuring ginny, jily, or wolfstar) (i’ve been meaning to read atyd, i’m saving it) please let me know!

(1/5) Ugh walburga and orion... can someone send them to azkaban or maybe hex them? Or, i don't know, punch them in the face muggle way? Admittedly, I always imagined that they would be softer towards regulus, bc of the way sirius talk about them in the ootp but I actually liked this interpretation, where things became diffrent for regulus after he became the heir of the family. I like reading about him, we already know he will become a deatheater but I can't wait to see how and why he will go
Whenever I think about Regulus' home life, I 100% believe that Regulus is the golden child. Orion and Walburga love him, but they won't hesitate to do things to keep him 'in line' whenever they feel like he's not listening or 'losing' focus. He's held to an incredibly high standard now that Sirius is gone, I think that perpetuates a lot of wrath from his parents If he ever disagreed with them. But yeah, I think they're soft for him too.
(2/5) down that path? Is it because he belives in blood purity (he is friends with mc but snape was friends with lily and we all know what happend), is it because his family forces him to? His friendship with mc is an interesting one as well and now that mc knows about his family's stance on blood purity, I'm wondering what this will mean for them. I kinda agree with james on his warning. Also james asking regulus to move in with them and refusing to reveal sirius' secrets even though they are
(3/5) no longer friends was great. I think prankster james is great but seeing his more serious side during time of hardships adds a whole new layer to him and you can see how he will go from idiot teenager to great man everybody talks about in the books. Okay moving on, Sirius' situation broke my heart again. I know they have every right to be mad at him but... ugh I can't help it. Part of me wants them to make up immediately since they will die/go to prison/live as a rat/live in isolation in a
James' arch is happening! Ngl, it's been tricky planning and writing how he's going to change but I think so far it’s working out so I’m not worried.
LMFAO I FEEL SO BAD FOR SIRIUS. I'm torturing that poor man.
(4/5) couple of years. I just want them to be happy while they can. Speaking of fighting, lily!!! I know she feels heartbroken but also I feel so sorry for mc, she thinks she lost a friend and even compared their situation to her mother isolating her (in the previous chapter). I know it's hard for her now but I'm pretty sure she will be happy when she is in a loving relationship with james while mc, sirius and remus suffer in an angsty love triangle (evil laughter). Also what's going on with
I've stated this before so don't consider it a spoiler, but yeah. James and Lily will end up together no matter what. I know a lot of my readers are kind of iffy about her feelings towards the MC (because they want Jily) but since I wrote her as a bisexual/unlabelled women, I want to explore that a bit before she's with James. She's just a young teenager with feelings for someone else that isn't returned. Everyone goes through it and in Lily's case, it's hitting harder because the MC is not only one of her best friends, they share the same dorm, always around each other, but she's also a girl! It would be scary as fuck! she may not even feel valid in her sexuality!
And I was trying to write in mind that Lily and MC are still clearly friends but the MC is kinda just done at the moment. She's just confused, angry because well, didn't they just go through something similar a couple months ago? But this time, there's ‘seemingly’ no reason as to why Lily’s acting the way she it.
And omg... you don't understand how exciting I am to write the angst between Remus and Sirius over the MC. PLEASE, I WANT THE ROMANCE TO HAPPEN NOW! ANGST NOW PLEASE!
(5/5) Marlene? Why did she sounded jealous when she was talking about how lily and mc are inseparable. Did she have a crush on lily before? In an earlier chapter she looked hurt after lily moved towards mc when marlene tried to wake her up. Or maybe she feels like mc stole her friend? I don't think she had feelings for mc bc she encouraged her to go after sirius (but lily did a similar thing too). But still, I love her and dorcas together and also how marlene is a sister for younger students -🌸
also, not a spoiler: Marlene does not have feelings for the MC or Lily. her actions will be explained at a later time. Probably sometime soon.
And ugh her and dorcas :D and Marlene having a soft spot for children! like I also imagined Marlene to be like a mixture of James, Sirius and can be 'mean' sometimes but she's a softie around kids.
#🌸 anon#thank you so much for sending#btw I don't want it to seem like I'm always expecting an ask from you. I understand that it can be a lot especially if ur day was tiring#but I always look forward to reading them! so don't take that the wrong way!#I just dont want to accidentally pressure you haha!#sbtmas ask#📨 inbox

Can I get a Naruto, Harry Potter and Marvel ship please? I'm average height with hazel eyes and long, dark-brown hair. I'm sarcastic, stubborn, laid-back, down-to-earth and very open-minded. I love reading, writing, listening to music and taking naps. I love animals, nature, the winter and the fall. I daydream a lot and I'm terrible at social situations (unless I'm really comfortable with the people that are with me). Thank you so much!
Voila!
I ship you with...
Shikamaru Nara!
When he first meets you he’s already like 0-0 wow pretty, but he doesn’t say that of course. He likes that you’re not loud or overbearing, but at the same time you’re not too quiet. You won’t let yourself get pushed around by anyone and you’re also pretty sarcastic, which is a bonus because that means you’ll get each others humour.
One day when he’s walking around the village and he sees you laying on the roof of your house. He was kinda curious as to what you were doing, so he goes up there to check and it turns out your cloud watching. You make some sarcastic comment at it him which he’ll chuckle at, but lay down next to you anyways and watch the clouds with you. Then it kinda all goes downhill from there.
He’ll like lazy things you do together like laying on the grass and cloud watching or more like he cloud watches while you go walk around looking at all the animals in the forest. He likes when you daydream because you look cute when you do it and it’s also an opportunity for him to tease you, but don’t be afraid to be snide back, he lowkey likes it.
WILL TAKE NAPS WITH YOU 24/7!! Like you two may not have been planning to have a nap, but you both wanted one so why not? Sometimes you both won’t get anything done tbh
Will complain about going on little nature walks or exploring for animals, but he secretly likes it. He will definitely make you rest periodically for ‘cloud watching breaks.’ Since your both really go with the flow and down to earth, your dates are more spontaneous. Like he’ll knock on your door and ask if you wanna get some barbecue, or you’ll knock on his door and say it’s a perfect day for a walk. You two can listen to music together while you’re on walks or cloud watching. He thinks his music taste is superior though and will always want the aux cord.
Bonus if can bring you cloud watching and you’ll read a book instead, putting your head on his lap as you do so. He just lives for the little quiet moments like that and will definitely make a routine of asking to cloud watch with him. Also likes if you just talk to him while you’re together like that. It can be about your book, about a new song you like or a decent mission you went on. He just lives for your voice.
Will wanna play Shogi with you, he likes that you really put an effort into the game. You may not be the best, but you’re trying and that’s all that matters. It also really boosts his ego everytime he beats you at Shogi because he wants to make sure you know he’s really smart.
Thinks that both your awkwardness with social situations and your daydreaming are really amusing. He won’t tease you too much about daydreaming all the time because you look pretty when you do it and he doesn’t wanna deter you from it. However, he will get a real kick out of your awkwardness though. Like he won’t be a bitch about it because he wants you to be comfortable, so he’ll try and ease your stress. But beware, if you do something embarrassing or stupid by accident he will laugh his ass off.
You can definitely push him around a bit too. Like you’ll only take the lazy shit 50% of the time. Plus, if you didn’t push him around he would never do anything, so don’t feel bad about it. You’re doing him a favour.
Remus Lupin! (marauders era)
Andrew Garfield is his face claim I don’t give a fuck that’s his face claim fight me
He’s probably been crushing on your for timeee. Like since first year time. Despite your own awkwardness in social situations he’s still too nervous to talk to you.
It isn’t till like fourth year, when you’re hanging around the black lake trying to find the giant squid, that Remus Lupin actually approaches you. Sirius, James and Peter were all hiding behind a tree waiting to hear what your answer would be. They had noticed Remus’ interest in you since first year and they teased him endlessly about it. It wasn’t until this year that they actually managed to get him to ask you out.
When he comes up to you his face is all red and his hands are clammy. You’re really nice to him though, minus the fact that you were a little bit awkward around him. I mean you had little conversations before about animals (you were always reading books about them) and your classes. You were more than happy to hear him ask you out on a date to Hogsmeade though as the feelings he had for you were mutual. That begins the start of a cute and wholesome relationship.
Since you like nature so much, you usually end up lounging outside on lazy school days. Like if its spring and the weather is amazing, you’ll lay on the grass together and read. He’ll love it if you read to him, or sit in his lap so you can both read the book. If it’s fall, you two would walk around the castles courtyard and watch the leaves fall and crunch them with the soles of your shoes. You would probably listen to music on a Walkman Sirius smuggled in for him as you walked around.
If you’re dating a marauder, you basically become one. So that means you’re involved in a lot of antics. You fit in pretty well, you’ve got that sarcasm to bark back whenever Sirius or James want to get sassy. You’ve also got the stubbornness that keeps their plans going, if the prank fails the first time, it will just have to be even better the next time. They’ll love you like a sister and will never allow you to get introuble for their pranks.
Will also love to read the works you’ve written yourself. He will be super supportive and even come up with ideas for you to write about and they’re surprisingly good! Can proofread your work if you want him too bc we know he’s smart asf
When you find out about his ‘condition’ he’s embarrassed, but you reassure him that you aren’t afraid of him and he won’t hurt you. Sometimes he can be too self concious and you’ll have to knock some sense into him.
Will die of happiness if you buy him chocolates. Like make it a routine thing where a certain day of the week, or month you would give him chocolate. He will brag about it constantly to the other marauders. He’ll like whip out the chocolate and be like “oh yah, look at this? Wanna know who got it for me? Y/n!” And there just like: he does this every fucking time
Peter Parker!
So you meet him at school, I can see you being a friend of Michelle’s. You’re definitely more approachable than she is, so he talks to you more and more and eventually Michelle just starts saying “go out already” when ever you two talk. So then he finally works up the courage to.
He’ll come up to you after school at your locker and he’ll give you a flower or something bc he knows you like nature. He’s so nervous when he actually asks you and you can see his face get red and he’s sweaty. You say yes ofc and he’s so happy. Anyways, the first date will be at Central Park bc that’s like the only form of nature he can find in New York. Then he’ll take you to that Thai place he usually goes to with Aunt May.
After that you two become inseparable. You’ll come over to his place and read while him and Ned build their LEGO Star Wars shit. Sometimes you’ll help but other times you’ll read or watch them.
Peter can be a sassy little shit, but guess what? so can you. Will have sass offs of sarcastic remarks for a good half an hour.
You’ll find out his identity as Spider-Man at the same time as Ned. Like the two of you were supposed to hang out at Peters and finish the LEGO Death Star and then spider man crawls through the window and your both like: bitch wtf
Anyways he will 10/10 swing you around New York with him. You’ll probably lay on the roofs of a building and watch the sun go down. He will web a lil hammock for you two to lay on and it would just be so chill.
Likes to listen to music with you while you’re on the subway together. You two are just commuting to school and whips the AirPods out, one for you and one for him. The two of you will alter in who will play the music that day. Also will get sandwiches with you after school and treat you everytime, even if he’s borderline broke.
Will brag about you to aunt may 24/7 and will get all his romantic advice from her. So sometimes the romantics gestures he makes are a little sappy but you can tell he’s trying so you don’t care. Since you really like nature he’ll put an effort into doing things that involve it with you. Like you’ll go out of the city to pumpkin patches in the fall or in the winter you could have a snowball fight on the way to school and in the summer you’ll go on walks in the parks a lot.
Will also brag about you to the avengers and show you off through pictures on his phone and they’ll be like: bruh we get it shut up twerp. But they ship you guys anyways so.. and when he’s on missions he misses you a lot so expect him to ft at odd times. Like he’s fighting a bad guy but he misses you? Expect a ft call. He’s on a top secret mission that is deeply classified? Expect a ft call.
Also he will send you memes 24/7 and expects memes in return. It’s common courtesy, jheez ppl.

A matter of… toe?
Can I ask for a oneshot with Sirius with the convo: B: You got a new lip balm? A: Yeah. It smells like strawberries too! Want to smell? B: Sure! *walks closer to kiss her/him* A: *just as B is few inches away* *pulls out the balm in front, making it cover B's nose* Please!! Love you😘 ~ @miss-nerd0905
Pairing: Sirius Black x reader
Word count: 4,1k
AU: Where the biggest concern sare late Xmas shopping and love. So no war, but still wizards.
A/N: I will not rant about my writing bc it’s Xmas… Vase Darling, I hope you like it!! I wanted this to be vv Christmassy for you!! tbh, I didn’t fully stick to the prompt (this might be veryyy different from what you expected), but the lip balm’s there lol. Have a jolly holiday!
***
Like every December 23rd, you type Lily’s number on the phone, and hum a jolly tune as the dial tone echoes in your ear.
Ever since you’ve moved on your own in London, going late Christmas shopping with your best friend has become a tradition. Together, you go from shop to shop, searching even the most unknown and hidden ones, to get the most perfect gifts for your friends. And, modestly, you nail every single one, to the point where everyone in your circle of Christmas guests call you the “jingle bell rocking team.”
You let your eyes wander on the gray sky outside through the window, and make a mental note of bringing your scarf along, right as a click announces that someone has picked up the call.
“Hello?”
You were going to scream at your friend in excitement to hurry up, but something in the voice that answered makes it… not hers. It’s deep and raucous.
“Lily?”
A crack, then a pause. Some air faintly blows in the mike, and you perceive that the phone must be moving.
“Y/N?” Now, you do recognize Lily’s voice. Although it still sounds off. And nasal.
“Lily!”
“Y/N…” A cough echoes in the background, so the owner of the other voice must still be in proximity.
“Um… Are you okay?” You risk the stupid question, dreading the obvious answer.
“Well,” She tries to laugh, but her lungs seem to resist the act. “Not really. I… James managed to pass me his flu, this year. But don’t worry, I’ll wear some additional coat and we’ll still go, I’ll be there in-”
Her boyfriend protests in the back, but is stopped by another wave of coughing.
An “oh” escapes your throat, longer than you wanted it. “It wouldn’t be wise to go shopping, if you’re in that state, Lils.” For a moment, she seems to hesitate, so you add, “We want to have you guys whole and in perfect shape for the Christmas Eve party.”
You hope your regret isn’t too evident in your tone.
“James wants to make it alive until then, he’s planned a little fly dressed all in red and whi-”
The raucous voice resounds in the background, clearly irritated, and Lily laughs again, “Seems like I’ve ruined the surprise. Don’t tell anyone,” She giggles again. “Um- Sorry to leave you alone on that.”
“Uh?” Imagining James flying, dressed as Santa Claus, has made you forget anything else for a couple of seconds. “Oh, you mean the shopping. Don’t worry,” You’re not sure the last two words sounded very convincing, but you still continue, “I’ll ask someone else to come. Maybe Dorcas.”
“Er- Her and Mary have choir rehearsal for the fundraising,” Lily reminds you.
The sky outside seems to become a little darker.
“Shoot. Remus then.”
“You know that today-”
“He works until late. And Marlene’s at her family’s until tomorrow.” You bite your lip, “Peter?”
“Is it grocery shopping you plan to do?”
Peter and his love for Christmas sweets… He’d stop you at every corner to get a new type of candy.
“Kingsley?”
But you erase that possibility on your own: he isn’t one to walk the whole day around looking for funny socks or the perfect make up set.
You sight in exasperation. This is why it’s always Lily and you who take care of the holiday shopping.
Half as a joke, half out of desperation, you suggest, “Dumbledore?”
There is a loud snort -- which sounded more like a snore -- surely from James, and then Lily mutters something that you can’t hear.
“Lily?”
Shuffling in the background.
“I- James says- He says that you should probably ask Sirius to come.”
“Sirius?” you repeat, not convinced to have heard right. You hope you haven’t.
You’re not 100% sure, but you heard James repeat his mate’s name at the same time as you, and in the exact same surprised tone.
After a second, the man’s laughter is muffled by Lily’s hand on the mike. She tells him something, and he answers back between two sneezes, but you can’t understand anything except for ‘-toe.’
“Toe?”
Lily’s voice comes back, “What?”
“Nothing,” you mutter, this time convinced that you have heard wrong. “So, you guys say, Sirius?”
No, no, no.
“Well, yeah. Usually, he can’t go because he takes care of James’ seasonal flu, but now I can do that…”
“Mmmm…”
“Call him, Y/N, he’s your last hope. I’ll manage to take care of my boyfriend and resist the urge to hex him.”
“Are you sure that Sirius is the right guy to give advice on Muggle shopping?”
And that I won’t make a fool of myself around him?
“I- Uh…” Lily stutters, and pauses a second to hear what James has to say. “Well, if you say so, Potter.” She focuses back on you, “James is positive about it, Y/N,” Which one? The shopping thing, or the fool thing? You’d like to be sure about the latter. “And- I left some soup on the stove, so- we don’t want the house burning down, do we. Gotta go!”
Is it you, or does her voice sound much healthier than before? “Wait, Lily-!”
“We’ll see you guys tomorrow!”
Before she hangs up, James’ voice reaches you, but very confusedly.
Again, did he say toe?
***
Getting Sirius to come shopping with you was easier than you thought. A call, and he apparated on the front step before you had a chance to put your boots on. Even keeping your composure in his presence is revealing itself quite easy, despite the fact that you’re alone with him for the first occasion in a very long time.
The tough stuff is making him follow you through Muggle London without losing him in the crowd.
“What about that?” you ask, eyeing a novel with a bright blue cover. It reads ‘In Love With an Idiot’, and Lily would absolutely wheeze only at the title. “Do you think that James would be offe- Sirius?” You shoot a glance behind your shoulder, only to discover that the man has disappeared again. “Oh, for Merlin’s sake.”
Struggling to hold the multiple packs under your arms, you move to the side of the pedestrian street, and climb on a bench, under the glare of an old lady. Feeling dizzy because of the bright passing scarves and hats, you lose one good minute in finding the mane of black locks that towers above the surrounding passerbys.
Completely obvious of the world around him, the boy’s observing the vitrine of a toy shop, whose sign’s colorful light reflects on his recently shaved cheeks.
“Sirius!” Your cry of frustration scares the glaring old lady away, but at least it’s successful in making your friend come back to reality.
Smirking, Sirius makes his way back to you, pushing people aside with the dozens of bags he carries, and attracting himself many dark looks.
“Afraid I’d leave you, Y/N?”
“No,” you sigh, wondering at what age Sirius has stopped growing up mentally, “Afraid to lose half of the gifts. What were you looking at?”
“Crazy how the Muggles manage to make things move without magic. There was a small train riding on its own!” His grin widens, and you have to tilt your head up to have a good sight of his childish expression.
Godric, he’s so tall. And so handsome.
Shut up, Y/N.
“But it looked quite unrealistic,” he continues, unaware of your internal dialogue, “There was no smoke.”
“It’s normal,” you say, “It works with batteries, a clever way of producing energy without-”
But Sirius craning his neck in direction of another shop stops you mid-sentence. It won’t be long until he goes off your sight again.
Merlin, he’s worse than Peter.
“No, Black, no such thing again. We’re almost done, I don’t plan on spending the night here.”
To prevent him from going away again, and prevent the lost of the dozen of bags he carries, you link an arm with his. And immediately feel your cheeks lighting up.
Thankfully, he looks away. And you badly hope it’s not because he saw you blushing.
“Nice weather,” he mutters, right as you say, “It’s freezing cold.”
Had it happened earlier, you would have laughed and argued, but now a strange tension seems to have fallen on the two of you.
“So er- those… baggeries,” he says hesitantly. “Do Muggles use them only for tiny trains or-”
You smile shyly, relieved by his clumsy attempt at building a conversation, but suddenly find yourself unable to explain anything about bagge- batteries. So you just correct his pronunciation and laugh the question away.
Something in the way Sirius looks and behaves has changed since your Hogwarts years. He is much more mature, and much less of a troublemaker. He hasn’t lost his mischievous sparkle, of course -- not even after death will he --, but he uses it more consciously.
The last time you two have been alone together before today was… three years and a half ago?
During the graduation party, you had found yourself sitting alongside the dance floor, immersed in nostalgic flashes of your school years, when Sirius had come to ask you for a dance. He saw it as only another moment of fun, but something clicked in your head when he grabbed you by the waist.
You saw memories of how you had started liking him in first year, how his sarcastic remarks were actually something you looked forward to get angry at everyday, how his lousy humor and deep sense of loyalty were his most attracting traits, how his hair falling on his eyes made you daydream.
You also saw the fact that you were about to step in the adults’ world, and maybe part ways.
So, drunk in melancholy and honeywine, you were about to tell him what you had hid for seven years in a row.
But, right at that moment, a group of girls passed by, eyeing him shamelessly and giggling like three-years-olds. It was already hard to swallow the fact that you were infatuated with the most popular guy in a range of ten kilometers, but when he asked you, in the middle of the song, if you’d mind if he invited one of them to dance, you lost your breath.
“Of course not,” you answered, surprising yourself at how easy the lie had come out of your mouth.
He had paused, looked at you for a second, and left you alone in the middle of the room to join the group of girls.
At that moment, lost in your feelings, you had seen through his: you were nothing more than a friend to him.
Some heavy darkness had engulfed you, and that had been the last time you’d accepted to be alone with him. Until today.
You have spent three years muffling your heart’s complaints under tons of good will, in the name of your friendship, and in respect for his opinion.
Caught in the worry of not being able to buy your friends their gifts, you did not think twice about it, earlier, but now…
It seems dangerous to walk next to him.
Around you, the street is getting busier of other people who, like you, have opted for a last-minute gift-search. Fake Santas shake their bells, making teens giggle, and women with babies look in adoration at them. A couple of parents hold their children by the hand, dragging them toward a house shop, while the kids clearly feel like stopping in front of a cozy bar. There is a Frank Sinatra song playing somewhere near the place at the end of the way, and the crispy notes of his deep voice fill every corner of the jolly atmosphere.
A draught of winter air caresses your face, making you shiver.
“About time to go, don’t you think?” you suggests, tightening the scarf around your neck.
“Well- De we have everything we need?” Sirius hesitates, so you start recounting the bags,
“We’ve got Marlene’s sweater, Alice’s scented candles, Kingsley’s sock set-”
“A complete,” Sirius interrupts you “collection of Queen’s best hits for James - that sucker better repay me later, this costed like one of my eyes - a maxi sized pot of skittles for Dumbledore, a horrible pair of socks for Frank, and some catnip for Minnie. Remus’-”
“Catnip?” you raise an eyebrow. “Oh please, don’t tell me you’ve-”
“No, I haven’t left the tea behind, we have that too. I just thought it’d be nice to add some catnip,” he finishes, with a big grin stamped across his face, and you roll your eyes.
“I checked everything on the list that Lily and I have made, so we have everything. I think we can stop.”
“Are you sure?” Sirius asks, and you think you discern some deception in his words. Is it really possible that-
But your running imagination must be tricking you.
“Quite sure, I-” You slap a hand on your forehead, attracting a curious look from a seven-years-old passing by. “I was forgetting, as always!” you claim, “We’re not done yet.”
Sirius eyes you, and you see a reflection of the little boy’s expression on his face. And maybe a brighter twinkle in his stare.
“We were forgetting about our own gifts,” you explain, to which he breaks into a snort.
“What’s the plan, then? We choose our gift, and we’ll act as if it’s a surprise on Eve’s dinner?” he asks.
You shake your head. “You choose something for me, I’ll pick something for you. No right to show the other, so-” You realize what you’re going to say, and regret it a bit. “So- It’s better if we part ways now, anyway. I have- I have to meet Mary and Dorcas for a trip to the library,” you say, raising your stare from the floor to look at him straight in the eyes.
Sirius’ lips purse in a thin line, and he nods in understanding.
You slow your pace down, and come to a halt. After a second of uncomfortable pause, you unlink your arm from his, and, for a moment, you face each other, unsure of how to say goodbye.
“See you tomorrow, then,” Sirius half-heartedly says.
“Yeah,” you respond.
The crazy thought of a hug crosses your mind, but you turn on your heels before giving in to the temptation.
You’re already a good fifteen meters away, when his voice flies to you, “It was a nice shopping session, Y/N! Thank you!”
You swing around, and smile before the crowd swallows him.
***
“You tricked me.”
Zipping her golden top, Lily doesn’t deign you of a look. “I don’t see what you’re talking about, darling.”
“Spare me your terrible lying capacity, Lily. Just- Let’s set aside the fact that you’ve broken our tradition, and that I felt treasoned, but-” You run a hand on your face, looking for proper words to make you sound less lame than what you are. “You know that it’s hard for me to be in the same room as him, and you made it more awkward by setting this up.”
“I didn’t s-”
“Oh come on!” you cry, frustrated. “He was ready when I called! And you do sound like you healed very quickly.”
The decorations on the walls and the snow falling outside make Lily and James’ living room look like a gigantic snowball.
“I- Ok, I’m not as sick as I was yesterday morning, but… I th-”
“You have no right to play the matchmaker, Lily... You know very well how much I struggled to make the pain go away!”
“The both of your are so much more mature recently.”
“So? I can’t make him fancy me, if he doesn’t want to! No matter if he gets as mature as Remus.”
“You’re so stubborn, Y/N! If you don’t try, you’ll never get anything!”
From the doorframe, James chuckles, “Take me as an example: I managed to date my fierce redhead after seven years of-”
“James!” you both scream, and the man raises his hands in defence, going back to drinking his medicinal tea. He can barely stand up, wrapped in the tons of coverts that are supposed to protect his fragile health from yet another cold, but he wouldn’t miss your discussion if he got paid for it: you get better than his favorite telenovellas, when you’re in that mood.
“If you ever tell him any of this-” you look at him, menacing.
With his mouth full of the infusion, James mimics somebody promising, and then walks out of the room, in look of a more peaceful environment. He does that every time he senses the storm going toward him.
“All I want is you to be happy, Y/N. I swear you need to be blind not to notice that Sirius likes you.”
“I’m- Please, don’t make it harder, Lily. I appreciate your encouragements, but I worked hard on making these feelings disappear, and-”
“We both know you still like him, Y/N. How many times will I have to tell you.” She rolls her eyes. “I am going to get you two together before this New Year, or I’ll rename myself Gertrudis. And you can’t change my mind.”
With nothing to answer to that, you sigh, only waiting for the moment when you’ll get to call your best friend Gertrudis.
***
“Nothing better than a sweet gathering with friends for Christmas,” Remus says as he pops the bottle of honeywine open. Behind him, the fire cracks in the chimney.
From across the living room, Frank, his arm around Alice’s shoulders, laughs, “You say that every year, Rems.”
Kingsley comes in the scarred boy’s defence, “It’s worth repeating, Longbottom. Anyway, I’d rather hear Remus say it a thousand more times than to have to listen to James’ drunk jokes at the end of the meal.”
The mentioned boy fakes a pout, and Sirius, who’s lying on the floor at his feet, plays with a red cap, that will be useless this year: Flying Santa Potter Show has been moved to next year, because of ‘health issues’, to Peter’s great regret.
“I wonder how you’re still sneezing enough to make that whole building fall down, James, while Lily’s wearing a mini skirt.” The bitterness in your voice can only be understood by James, and by his girlfriend. “From how she sounded on the phone yesterday, she was about to die.”
At those words, Lily gets out of the kitchen, followed by Dorcas, and shoots you a smile, “Onion soup does miracles on me,” she winks, and turns toward the man spread on the carpet, “Sirius, please be a sweetheart, and give Y/N a hand to bring the rest of the starters on the table.”
And here we go again.
Noticing your annoyed groan, Marlene slightly smiles.
“I hope the floor’s clean,” she murmurs to Lily, “Because I have that feeling that we’ll have to pick the starters up from the tiles. What did you do to piss her off?”
“Just wait,” the redhead whispers back, “And you’ll see.”
***
In the background, Celestina Warbeck threatens to drown you all in a cauldron full of hot love.
Sirius is handing you some plastic plates, on which you lay tiny canapes. The only reason that prevents you from dropping them on the floor in vengeance is their very appetizing look. And the fact that you’ve spent hours dressing them.
The soft buzzing of conversation coming from the living room warms your heart: having friends like yours is the highlight of your life. Ruining the mood by confronting romantical feelings to just friendship would be… awfully wrong.
“Any plans for New Year’s Eve, Y/N?”
“Uh?”
Sirius smiles at you from the other side of the table, a plate full of mini croissants in each hand. “Do you have plans for New Year’s Eve?”
You tilt your head. “Just- our usual gathering. Why?”
The man shrugs. “Maybe you wanted to do something different, I don’t know.” And he grins again. “You tell me, if you want some change, okay?”
“Sure.”
Perplex because of his strange request, you come back in the core room of the party a little distracted, sensing that something is weird.
You scan your friends’ faces, but don’t notice anything out of place, so give up your strange presentment.
***
Soon, it’s time to unwrap.
As everyone discovers their gifts -- and shares drunk jokes, much to Kingsley’s dismay -- you step in a corner, holding a pink package in the palm of your hand. The ribbon itself is bigger than the box.
“What is it?” Sirius’ sudden presence behind your back makes you start.
“What do you mean, what is it?” From the corner of your eye, you notice Lily staring at you, and then whispering something in James’ ear. “Didn’t you buy it?”
The man scratches his neck. “I’m not the best at choosing Muggle gifts, let along for a girl. So I asked the salesgirl to give me the cutest item she had and-” He points to the half-unwrapped box in your hands. “I’m about to discover what it is at the same time as you.”
His breath on your neck makes your fingers tremble, but you rip the remnants of colorful paper off the present, and reveal a-
“Lip balm?” you ask, surprised.
Sirius only nods, with half a smile. “Looks like it.”
Carefully, you extract the round container from the wrapping, grinning at how cute it is, indeed. You delicately brush a finger on the surface, and press it to your lips.
“Mmm… It smells like strawberries!”
“Really?” Sirius casually steps closer to you.
“Uh- Want to smell?” you ask, trying to remain composed.
“Sure!”
You were about to pass him the container. You were about to.
But, under your unbelieving stare, Sirius leans forward, until he’s only inches apart from your mouth, and closes his eyes.
A little lamp lights up in your head: that something that was wrong when you exited the kitchen, James’ repeated mention of a ‘toe’ during yesterday’s call… Right above your head, you see it.
It happens all so fast, that you can barely register your own movements.
***
“You what?”
Lily, shivering in her skirt, is gaping at you. She ran after you as soon as you left the apartment in a hurry, and managed to catch you right as you were exiting the building.
“I panicked” You cry, still shocked yourself, and starting to feel like the dumbest person ever, ever, ever.
Your best friend blinks very slowly. “You- Are you doing this to make me lose the bet? Because that’s the only explanation I will accept, Y/N!”
The scene repeats itself endlessly in your mind as the snowflakes sprinkle your hair. Sirius, centimeters away from your lips. The balm suddenly put in front of him, covering his nose. His surprised look. Your run away.
“I don’t know, I-”
“You don’t know?” Her eyes clearly say ‘I’m about to kill you if you don’t give me a good reason for leaving the perfect romantical scene out of the blue’.
“Listen! If I wasn’t sure that he now thinks I’m the most idiotic fool in this world, I’d run back upstairs and kiss him right where I left him!” you scream.
You hope that none of the neighbors had planned to go to bed early.
“Glad you would-” A voice comes from an open window, three floors above. A pair of large glasses is looking down at you, surrounded by all your friend’s faces.
“James! Fucking get inside, don’t make your flu even worse!” shouts Lily.
“- because,” her boyfriend ignores her, “I doubt he’d be happy to have ran down the stairs for nothing!”
Right as he finishes his sentence, the building’s door opens, and lets out a very confused Sirius. Quickly, Lily disappears inside.
The world stops spinning, and you lose the capacity to breathe. Your knees threaten to give up under the weight of the tension that installs itself on your shoulders.
Merlin, if I could die right on the spot.
“I’m sorry if I-” Sirius takes a step forward, but stops right away, and lowers his head. “It was stupid of me, I’m very sorry.”
Seemingly unable to distinguish between what happens in your head, and what you’re actually doing in this moment, you walk toward him.
“What do you mean, you’re sorry?” The temperature of your cheeks climbs up vertiginously, and it costs you an incredible effort to articulate. “I’m the one who ran away.”
And you’re standing in front of him, close enough to see the grey of his eyes reflecting the streetlamp light.
“I like you a lot, you know.” His soft whisper knocks the air out of you. “I think I’ve liked you since Hogwarts, but I was too busy being a jerk to notice it.”
Before the moment has a chance to vanish, like a dream, you reach for his lips with yours, standing on your tiptoes.
As Sirius wraps his arms around your waist and deepens the kiss, you can hear the dance of the snowflakes, chorusing with the beating of your hearts. Your breaths become the same mist, and your bodies tell the same story. The story of two young people in love.
Above your heads, a green branch has been fixed with some tape from a windowsill of the third floor, and is gently being hugged by the breeze.
“Look at those two,” Winter seems to whisper, “Finally kissing under the mistletoe.”

Pairing: Sirius Black x Reader.
------------------------------
“Sirius, for the tenth time I don’t wanna see you set off another dungbomb in Filch’s office. It’s mean and frankly not that funny anymore.”
Y/N was sitting in the library trying to finish her Charms essay but her boyfriend was making that nearly impossible. Sirius made her happier than she had ever felt but he also knew how to push every last nerve. Their love was a complicated one because they were both so different. Sirius was the human embodiment of the word rebel while Y/N liked to live her life in the safety net of rules. But the heart wants what it wants and they fell in love with each other.
“How could you even say something so cruel.” Sirius was taken back by his girlfriend’s statement. He put a hand over his heart to show how hurt he was.
Y/N rolled her eyes at her dramatic boyfriend. “Sirius, it’s been one hour since I’ve been working on this essay and I’m only two paragraphs in.”
“See! Your brain isn’t even working, you should take a break.”
“My brain is working perfectly fine I’ll have you know.” Y/N snapped at her boyfriend. She took a deep breath to calm herself down before speaking. “Look, why don’t you go and do your little prank and I’ll stay here and finish my essay. You can tell me all about the surprised look on Filch’s face at dinner.”
Sirius let out a frustrated sigh and stood up from the table.
“You’re so boring. All you do is study. You never want to do anything fun. No wonder you got sorted into Ravenclaw; the house of the boring.” Sirius snickered and walked off leaving his girlfriends mouth hanging open in shock.
Is that really what he thought of her? That she was boring? Her whole life she had been what people called ‘a stick in the mud’, but ever since she’d been dating Sirius and as hard as it was for her to break the rules, she wanted to be a part of his world so she would try to tap into her rebel side that she didn’t know existed. Such as whenever Sirius and his friends did a prank, she would watch the hallway to make sure no one was coming. It was a different kind of adrenaline than she was used to but she still enjoyed it because she got to spend time with her boyfriend.
She felt her eyes well up with tears as Sirius’s words spun in her mind. She huffed and grabbed her work supplies making her way to her room no longer able to focus on her essay. She tried to move as quickly as she could before the tears fell out.
“Come up and let us go. Down and here we stay. What am I?” The eagle on the door asked. Y/N couldn’t even think about the riddle because she was focusing too hard on keeping the tears at bay.
She heard someone beside her mumble the answer and the door swung open. She didn’t even turn to see who had answered the question, instead sprinted to her room and locked the door. She knew her roommates wouldn’t be here so she sat on her bed and let the tears fall free.
She didn’t know when the silent sobs turned into quiet sniffles but eventually she ran out of tears. Her whole life she had been told she was boring but for some reason those words coming from Sirius, someone she loved so dearly hurt much much more. She sat up wiping the final tears from her face and walked into the bathroom, splashing her face with cold water. Once the redness from her face had subsided, she sat on her bed and pulled out her Charms homework from earlier. “No way I’m going to let a boy affect my grade.” she told herself and finished her assignment. A quick glance at the clock and the rumbling in her stomach indicated that it was time for dinner.
Taking a deep breath she straightened her skirt and set off towards the Great Hall. She normally sat with Sirius and his friends at their table but today she sat with her roommates at the Ravenclaw table. She ignored Sirius’s wave and joined in the conversation her friends were having. They were laughing at something that had happened in Slughorn’s class when she felt a hand on her shoulder.
“Y/N, you’re not going to sit with us today?” Y/N turned to see her boyfriend standing behind her, his black locks framing his face making his jaw seem more prominent.
“I couldn’t possibly sit with such fun people.” Y/N replied pushing Sirius’s hand off her shoulder.
She caught sight of Sirius’s puzzled face and sighed. “Just leave me to my boring house, Sirius.” And with that she turned her back to him and continued conversing with her friends. Sirius stood there for a moment dumbfounded but eventually made his way back to his table.
“Trouble in paradise?” James teased when Sirius sat down. He had one arm around Lily’s shoulders and the other resting under his chin as he watched his friend in amusement. Remus, Lily and Peter were watching with curious eyes as well.
“I don’t know.” Sirius spoke slowly, confusion laced in his voice. He turned in his seat to look at his girlfriend but she avoided his gaze expertly.
“What did you do?” Lily asked stuffing a fork full of mashed potatoes in her mouth.
“Why do you assume I did something?” Sirius asked feeling offended at her question. His friends looked at him with raised eyebrows and he sighed. “Okay yes I probably did something but I don’t know what I did!”
“Well, what did she say?” Lily crossed her arms across her chest and leaned in. Her brows furrowed as she tried to understand the situation.
Sirius repeated their conversation to his friends and watched them all become confused as well.
“No idea, man.” James shrugged and returned to his meal. Peter doing the same while Lily and Remus both seemed to be lost in thought.
“Why did she say she was boring?” Lily asked her eyes narrowing at Sirius. And that’s when it hit him. Sirius groaned and put his face in his hands as he realized what he had done. He craned his neck trying to find Y/N in the crowd and when he didn’t find her sitting with her friends he caught a glimpse of the back of her head leaving the Great Hall. Sirius jumped out of his seat and sprinted trying to catch up to her.
She had just climbed the first set of staircases when he caught her hand forcing her to stop.
“Y/N, wait. Please.” Sirius pleaded.
“I don’t want to talk to you.” Y/N pulled her hand out of his and turned around making her way up the stairs again.
“I'm sorry Y/N, I didn’t mean what I said.” Sirius began but Y/N cut him off.
“I don’t care, Sirius. You still said it and it really hurt me.” Tears welled up in her eyes again but she tried to fight them. “I’m sorry if I’m boring and I’m sorry if I’m always studying because I want to do something with my life besides stuffing product in my hair and pulling the same dumb prank a dozen times!” Y/N sneered the words at Sirius while he stood there feeling ashamed. Y/N took a deep breath and leaned against the wall running her fingers through her hair.
“I’m truly sorry for what I said.” Sirius apologised once more. “I shouldn’t have said those things because honestly I didn’t mean any of it. You’re not boring.”
Y/N rolled her eyes and glared at her boyfriend. Sirius reached for her hand and pulled it against his chest.
“You know what I really think about you?” Sirius bore his grey eyes into Y/N’s y/e/c ones making her heart beat just a little faster. She braced herself to hear what her boyfriend was going to say.
“You’re funny and smart and kind. You have so much compassion for people and you are so strong.” Sirius spoke quietly. He gently caressed her cheek with the back of his hand.
“You’re my whole world, baby. You’re my anchor. And I know I can be stupid and reckless sometimes but I hope you’ll forgive me because I love you so much and I promise I wont hurt you ever again.” Sirius connected his forehead to Y/N making her breath hitch.
“I forgive you.” She mumbled grabbing the back of her boyfriends neck and bring his lips closer to hers. Their lips connected in a soft kiss. She could smell his signature scent on him and it made her a little dizzy. She felt him smile into the kiss and she leaned back to look into his grey eyes.
“C’mon lets head back to the Great Hall and I’ll tell you about Filch’s reaction to the dungbomb.”
Y/N scoffed and pushed her boyfriend away only to have him laugh and wrap his arms around her waist.
“Just kidding, love.” Sirius smirked and kissed her temple. Y/N rolled her eyes and shook her head at the silly boy in front of her. He really did drive her crazy but sometimes in the best way.

Pairing: Sirius Black x Reader
Request: Hey can I request smth where Sirius and Reader (his gf and a Ravenclaw) stop talking to each other for a while bc he called her annoying or a stuck up or smth like that (like she is trying to work and she doesn’t want to do anything else and he tells her smth like stop being so annoying) and he doesn’t really understand that it hurt her he could see her like that but at the end he apologizes and it’s fluffy and all I’m not sure it’s clear, if you need I’ll try to explain myself better Thanks
-----------------------
“Sirius, for the tenth time I don’t wanna see you set off another stink bomb in Filch’s office.
“See! Your brain isn’t even working, you shouldtake a break.”
“C’mon lets head back to the Great Hall and I’ll tell you about Filch’s reaction to the stinkbomb.”

Sirius Imagine 9 Part 1
Request: could you do one where sirius meets his daughter for the first time out of azkaban and she's been raised by remus
ok i love this bc i always get requests ab like romantic relationships?? and I've never really written anything like this so i think this is gonna be super cool
“Y/n?”
You groaned, Uncle Remus had been calling your name for about 10 minutes, but you were so comfortable! How could you possibly get out of bed yet?
“I’ll be late for work! And you’ll be late for school!”
Right, that’s how. Uncle Remus was relying on you to be on time for his first day as a Hogwarts Professor, plus you didn’t want to miss the train.
You and Remus ate breakfast, grabbed your bags, and headed to Kings Cross. Once you got to your compartment Remus immediately fell asleep. You laughed; he was so nervous about his first day. He’d been up all night planning and pacing. You had to convince him that none of the students would bully him and that Dumbledore wouldn’t fire him and that no one would find out about his “furry little problem” (Remus said that’s what your dad had called it).
Then, Harry, Hermione, and Ron slipped into the compartment.
“Oop! Sorry,” Hermione said, “I didn’t think anyone was in here. All the others are full.”
“Oh, y’all are welcome to sit here,” you encouraged them, “Hey Harry,” you added, smiling at your Uncle James’ kid, even if Harry didn’t know how close y’all actually were, you still treated each other like family.
“Who’s that?” Ron pointed to Remus.
“Professor Remus Lupin,” Hermione answered.
You, Ron, and Harry were all equally surprised, “How did you know that?” You asked.
“It says it on his briefcase,” she answered.
Suddenly it became cold, you saw a dementor (something Remus had taught you about) and gasped as Harry crumpled onto the floor. Your Uncle jumped up and immediately shouted Expecto Patronum. A brilliant blue light shot out of his wand while a silver wolf danced around it. The dementor was chased away by the wolf and Remus bent down to check on Harry as he came to.
As you were leaving the train Harry, Ron, and Hermione walked ahead as you stayed back to talk to your uncle.
“So how come you didn’t take Harry in with you when you took me?”
“Well, Petunia was Harry’s immediate family and Dumbledore insisted upon it. I really did want to, and unlike James and Lily, Sirius, well, he didn’t have any family.”
“You mean I don’t have any family,” you looked down.
“Come on, y/n, don’t be ridiculous,” Remus put his hand on your shoulder, “You have me.”
You rolled your eyes, “Thanks.”
“But, maybe you shouldn’t tell everyone the new professor is your... legal guardian.”
“Why not?”
“Well, they’re going to think I’ll favor you and if anyone finds out about my ‘furry little problem?’ it won’t exactly make the remainder of your education a walk in the park.”
“Remus,” you scolded, “No one is going to find out, how many times do I have to tell you? But fine, I’ll keep it on the down-low.”
As you entered the school he patted your back, “Alrighty then. Well I’ll see you later I’m going to the teachers table, don’t eat to many sweets tonight, okay?”
“Okay,” you laughed, “Love you.”
“Love you too,” Remus waved.
You walked through the halls, you were a year above Harry, Hermione, and Ron and were closer with the twins. Fred and George smiled as you walked up to them, each scooting aside so you could sit in between them.
“Hello,” you smiled, “how are my favorite Weasley’s?”
“Wonderful,” they said in unison, Fred shooting you a smirk, “Who’s the new professor?”
“Uhh.. you followed his pointed finger to Remus shifting nervously in his seat, “I.. don’t know,” you finished, hoping your response was convincing enough.
“Looks a little... uncomfortable doesn’t he?” George questioned.
Fred laughed, “Oh, I’m sure it’s just those first day jitters!”
You nervously laughed in response.
The next day at breakfast newspapers fluttered to the tables and every single one of them had a picture of the newest felon to break out of Azkaban. You had a pastry in your mouth when Lee Jordan shoved the article in your face.
“Pretty scary, isn’t it?” he questioned.
The bread fell out of your mouth just as you were about to take a second bite. You held up the article to see your father staring back at you, snarling at whoever was on the other side of the camera.
“Yeah..” you responded quietly.
“Oooo,” Fred said looking at the article over your shoulder as he sat down next to you, “Sirius Black.” He turned towards you, “Y/n Black?”
“No relation,” you said, standing up in shock, still involuntarily gripping the article tightly as you began to walk away.
“Y/n!” Lee shouted after you, “I didn’t mean to scare her,” you heard him say to Fred and George as you walked out of the great hall.
part 2 soon :)))) lmk what ya’ll think im really trying here

I like me better with you - Sirius Black x Reader
Requested by @claireisreallynotonfire : a sirius x reader where sirius is kind of like james where he is constantly asking the reader to go out with him, calling her darling love and babe, and just in general pining after her but she always says no bc he’s notorious for sleeping around and one day he gets so jealous bc she’s hanging around another guy and he just walks up to her and says he’s done being a manwhore bc he’s in love and fluff ensues. and if your cool with it being all from sirius pov that’s great thx love Hi, love! Well, it’s not exactly from his pov but it does focus on him. Warnings:My English, swearing(?) Gifs aren’t mine/ Credits to their original owners. Masterlist
“Why are you following me?” she finally asked him. “People told me to follow my dreams” he answered nonchalantly. She wanted to facepalm. He was being honest but the girl never knew. It was strange for him. To be obsessed with one girl. He was a lady’s man-never said no to anyone. This time-this time it was different. He blamed it on the fact that she was the only one to deny his charms. Lily didn’t count. She was the real deal. “Come on, love! Go out on an ate with me. I’ll give the d later” he remarked. Her eyebrows shot up to the skies. Oh, Great, Fuck. I messed it up again. She just walked away without even looking at him. He thought he had lost the chance. Little did he know that she was drunk on him. She had this huge crush on him since forever-but he was the infamous Sirius Black. He slept with a different girl every other night. She didn’t want to be one of many. So, she kept everything hidden. “One day, babe! One day!” He exclaimed after her. James laughed. Well, he was no better. “You-both of you- are pathetic” Remus stated while he was trying to balance a book mid- air and write down notes simultaneously. Of course, it didn’t work out. The book fell down and landed on the grass, messing up his notes, spilling the ink all over them and leaving a frustrated Remus to clean up. His friends eyed him curiously. “I don’t know about him, but I am not pathetic” Sirius said mockingly. Remus rolled his eyes. James placed a hand over his heart pretending to be insulted by his friend as he plopped beside Remus. “You are exactly like James. Drooling over Y/N. She is your Lily. Admit it Pads!” Remus commented rather amused. The famous player was now fawning over one girl. “She is lovely” Peter said in a haze and Sirius clenched his jaw. Hey, wait. Why is that bothering me? Nah, she is just one more girl. “Roses are red, violets are blue, lava is hot and so are you” he sang-said to her. She shot her head and tried to hide her blush. “Violets are purple, so, technically, shod off” she stated with a grin plaster on her face. She really liked him. But no. The other three Marauders were smiling knowingly. Their friend was smitten. He was so dense to his own feelings. It was so obvious to everyone but them, that they were both in love with each other. “Go out with me and I will” he asked her for the 54th time that week. And it hit him. He was acting like James. It frightened him, but for some reason, his heart was pounding in his chest with excitement. “Thank you, no, thank you” she replied and returned to the conversation that was held by her friends. “Come on!” he tried again. He was very persistent. She snapped her head towards him. “What? Not enough girls in the school?” she questioned while she was glaring at him. “They don’t mean anything” he said casually but regretted it deeply. She was frowning. That was exactly what she wanted to avoid. To be his next meaningless one night stand. She liked her heart whole. No, it wasn’t that. She just didn’t want to be broken by him. “Great. Ask me again when you’re done being the basic bitch” she said furiously. He was a bit hurt. It was late. Everybody was asleep. Well, almost. Sirius Black was staring at the ceiling. For a good two hours. He was consumed with thoughts. Was he treating girls that bad? He didn’t do it on purpose. He really thought that things could work out and one of the at least, last longer. Like-a relationship. But they never did. And he was never that sad. But he didn’t think about their feelings. Were they really that hurt? Oh, and her face. Her face was stuck in his mind. Those big, judgy, pure eyes. “This isn’t the same, is it?” he heard James asking him. He sat up on his bed with his back on the headboard and his head lowered. James knew. “I don’t know, Prongs” he answered sincerely. He didn’t know how to feel. He couldn’t understand his own damn feelings. “She is your Lily” James simply stated. The truth was, James had never seen his best friend so caught up. So hooked and confused. Sirius Black had fallen in love. He was awful at handling it, though. He would say the wrong thing, the wrong time. Sirius groaned in annoyance. “What do I do?” he asked… no one in particular. “Talk to her. You know, without being an ass” Remus responded. His friends had woken him up. He felt a bit sorry for Sirius. He hadn’t felt like this before, so naturally, he wasn’t handling things very well. “But she hates me” he whispered. He didn’t really believe that but he knew that she didn’t particularly like him either. At least, that was what he thought. “You haven’t seen the way she looks at you when you are not looking. It’s the same way you look at her when she is not looking” James said confidently. He knew that, like Lily, she was afraid to reveal her emotions. And he got it. As did Sirius. “Whatever. Go to sleep”. Sirius hadn’t planned to do anything. He wouldn’t have acted the way he did. If only that Prewett wasn’t flirting with her. He was fuming, trying to hide it. After a while, he wasn’t even mad. He was jealous. But let’s take it from the start. He hadn’t forgotten about the last nights’ talk, or rather how he got lectured by his friends. He, however, had pushed it aside. It was a nice, warm day. He was in a good mood. When he walked into the Great Hall he was starving as he was a ‘growing boy’ as he had put it. He went to sit next to the girl who was driving him crazy but that seat was already taken. By Fabian Prewett. And that git was flirting with her. The worst part was that she flirted back and laughed and looked… happy. Not annoyed or confused or about to throw something at his head. He knew his friends were about to say something, and that’s why he sat down, away from the ‘lovebirds’, but close enough to eavesdrop. He knew it was low, but he couldn’t help it. “Padfoot, what are you doing?” Remus reprimanded him. He wanted to answer but he heard her laughter. She was laughing. Even though that sound was his favorite, he hated that he wasn’t the one causing it. He clenched his jaw-he wouldn’t do anything stupid. His temper-let’s be honest here… it was jealousy-took a toll on him. He stood up abruptly, not really thinking about the possible consequences, and walked towards her. “Could you, please, stop that?” he asked with a sour expression. He wouldn’t admit it to ANYONE but it hurt him. Deeply. So, that’s how it feels. Being hurt by the one you want to make happy. It sucks. “Stop what?” she asked genuinely bewildered. Why couldn’t she just see it? “Flirting with her” he spat at Fabian even though it wasn’t him who had previously talked. “Is it bothering you?” Fabian asked him teasingly. Fabian knew about his not-so-little crush on the girl beside him. As he knew about hers as well. “Yes! It is! VERY MUCH” he exclaimed before he could’ve stopped his mouth. She was shocked. Fabian was smirking, whispering a ‘my job here is done’ as he returned his attention to the plate in front of him. The Marauders were a bit taken aback but smiling. Lily was too. But she knew. “What?” she softly questioned, not believing any of it. “I am in love with you” he whispered-yelled at her, gaining the attention of the entire school. Even McGonagall was looking. “I have been in love with you for a while now. I know you probably don’t feel the same- and you shouldn’t, really. I am aware of my… reputation. And you were right. I never thought about the other person’s feelings but I didn’t do it on purpose. But I am done. Please, just go out with me. Once. I promise I’ll make it good”. He confessed. He didn’t know where that kind of strength had come from-he didn’t really care. He felt good after saying what he wanted to. “Aren’t you the persistent one?” she playfully asked him after she had made up her mind. His heart dropped and he lowered his head. She didn’t feel the same. It’s cool. I just have to regain my composure. Before he knew it, she had gotten up and slammed her lips to his. He had dreamt of this moment soo many times. Each time, felt so good but the reality was-sublime. Everything about her. His hands wrapped her waist and pulled her closer-so close, that you wouldn’t find an inch separating them, even if you searched. Her hands flew to his neck, slightly tugging his long, dark locks. His lips felt like hell to her. Her lips felt like heaven to him. They were so caught up in the moment- Merlin, they both wanted to do that for a while now- that James had to place his hand on his shoulder. He stepped back, a bit annoyed and breathless. Great. I forgot to breathe. The things this girl is doing to me. “Yes, I will go out with you” she said giggling. He became weak at the knees and reached for her hand. He reached for her hand. He wasn’t the same person. He was different. And it felt good. “So, Lily… go out with me?” James asked with a smirk on his face.

connect the dots [sirius black]
summary: it’s YOUR chair. regardless of the fact that you found him sleeping there, for merlin’s sake, it’s yours. neither he, nor james seems to understand that. remus is an accidental wingman, lily is there to help, and peter just wants everybody to be friends.
word count: ~2200
a/n: (thats pretty fuckin ironic peter pettigrew u stupid swine) ANYWAY KIDS WHATS UP I LOVE ALL THE MARAUDERS EQUALLY???? but i have an especially soft spot for sirius and remus and james.... hmm.... (especially ben barnes as sirius and andrew garfield as remus but shhh) anyway ik i have a shit ton of requests to do but here i am, master procrastinator, back with more procrastination works! i had an impulse okay. y’all should be thanking me for this insight on snogging sirius black bc i know i’m thanking myself tonight
The seat by fire in the Gryffindor common room has always been yours. You’ve never sat anywhere else - you like that seat most of all. It’s nearest the bookshelf, the fire, and it’s the comfiest chair in the entire common room.
And it’s occupied.
You stand before it, scowling, arms crossed. Sirius Black is… sleeping in your chair, a blanket draped haphazardly across his body. He’s even snoring a little.
(It’s very soft, but he is still snoring regardless. You wish there was some way to capture this and hold the memory over his head. Sirius Black, snoring?! How dreadful!)
Somebody clears their throat behind you. You turn around. James Potter stands with Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, the rest of Sirius Black’s little… friend group. James is smirking, hands stuffed into his pockets. Remus is smiling behind his hand, and Peter is just outright beaming, rocking back and forth on his feet.
“What are you looking for?” Grins James. He nods to the sleeping boy. “Isn’t he adorable? I love the face he makes while he’s sleeping, don’t you?”
You don’t say anything. You maintain eye contact with James for another half minute. In that half a minute, he doesn’t look away, doesn’t say anything else, doesn’t even blink. Remus has to wave a hand in front of your faces before you break the contact.
“Sorry, I was just thinking of ways to get my chair back,” you jab a finger at their friend, “from this monstrous parasite. Sneaking in the middle of night, falling asleep-”
“He didn’t mean to,” Remus sighs, moving forward towards his friend. “He was trying to study with me-”
“Moony, let him sleep,” James chuckles. He glances at you again. “He’s just so tired. Hasn’t slept in weeks. Terrible nightmares, that one.”
You falter, but give in a second later, rolling your eyes. “Fine, fine. I will let him sleep. But,” you point to each of them, including Sirius, “if he is not awake by the time I get back from the library, I will have his head. That threat goes for anyone who gets in my way.” With that, you storm away from them, huffing.
Peter calls after you, “Well… it is a common room chair, right?”
You ignore him and push open the Fat Lady’s portrait.
There’s a certain appeal to the boys, you guess, turning the page of your book. You aren’t reading the book; on the contrary, you’re watching their group from across the common room. When you returned, you found your chair empty. Sirius and his friends were nowhere to be found. You settled in, grabbing a random book off the shelf and cracking it open. Now, after a couple hours of peaceful silence, they’re back.
The appeal is small. James and Sirius are both similar, in the fact that they’re both insufferable. When you see James doing something annoying, the latter is usually by his side. Remus is sweet. You’ve spoken with him by himself more than once. You don’t mind Remus, especially if he’s away from the heathens he calls friends. You don’t really talk to Peter much; he’s… not shy, really, just… uninterested in you. You don’t care. The only person you’d want to talk to is Remus, anyway.
Too bad they’re all heading in your direction. James is grinning, Sirius smirking in a kind of way that, on a normal day, leaves every girl in his path shaking and yearning for more. He’s quite the ladies’ man, if you recall correctly. All your friends find him mouth-watering.
You close the book at their arrival. “Yes?” You say, frowning. Sirius steps forward, running a hand through his hair.
“So James was telling me how you were watching me sleep here earlier.”
You flush. “That’s a - James Potter. That is a lie. I was not watching you sleep, for Merlin’s sake-”
“I don’t know, that’s what I caught you doing, I think,” James laughs, pushing his glasses further up his nose. “I walked out and here she is, standing in front of you, just watching. Right, Peter, Remus?”
“Right,” Peter says. You look at Remus. He meets your gaze and, with an apologetic smile, nods.
Sirius shrugs. “I mean, I didn’t think you were the type to be so forward. If you fancy me, all you have to do is let me know.”
You turn even darker. “I do not fancy you! I was trying to decide whether or not to wake you up!”
He is rather attractive, you guess. He has nice hair, and he’s tall. Not as tall as James, but James is gangly, all long limbs. He isn’t scrawny, like Remus is a little bit. Nor is he shorter and stouter, like Peter. He has a rather nice body.
“I think she’s checking you out, mate, look-” James stage-whispers in Sirius’ ear. Sirius laughs and turns around, muttering something low to his friend. You can’t make it out. Instead, you get up, off the chair.
“I am l-leaving,” you scowl, setting the book down. “Take the stupid, bloody chair. It smells like you, anyway. You tainted it,” you knock into Sirius as you walk by, dropping your head so you stare at the floor.
James calls behind you, “Where are you going?”
“We’re just giving you a hard time, we’re just teasing-” Sirius groans. “Come back!”
You choose not to, instead going up the stairs and entering the girls’ dormitory, where you’re sure they cannot follow.
When you come out again, the only person in the common room is Remus. He is sitting at a table, writing what you can only assume is Slughorn’s potions essay due the following week. You look at him, wary. He looks up and looks at you, too.
“Are you going to make fun of me?” You ask.
Remus laughs, “Are you going to give me a reason to?”
“...No. I suppose not,” you sit in your chair, tucking your legs underneath your body. “What are you doing?”
Remus holds up his parchment, sighing. “Slughorn’s essay.”
“Thought so. It’s rough. Took me a full three hours to understand the concept,” you lean back and stretch, yawning as you do so.
“You understand it? I cannot get a single grasp on what we are supposed to write about,” he frowns. Then Remus glances above you, tilting his head up. You twist your body to look. Sirius Black himself is descending the staircase, cracking his knuckles. You chew on your lip, trying to decide whether to leave or stay. As soon as he sees you, he does a double take and grins.
“Hey, Moony. Hey, you,” he winks, turning to his friend. “D’you reckon you can give me a hand with the essay, mate? I don’t get what we’re supposed to write.”
Remus smiles. He nods to you. “I don’t, either. But she does.”
Your eyes widen. Not Remus! No, you trusted him! What a good thing that turned out to be.
Remus seems to sense your irritation and signals screaming ‘TRAITOR!’. He rises from his seat, motioning to it. “I have something to attend to. Will you help Padfoot with his essay? Please?”
Sirius looks at you and sends the same puppy-dog look Remus is giving. They’re both extraordinarily good, you admit begrudgingly. You scowl, crossing your arms over your chest.
“I don’t know why I am about to do this, but sure, fine.”
“Thank you!”
“I might not fail Slughorn’s class!” Sirius whoops, high-fiving Remus. While the latter gathers up his supplies, you get up and head for the stairs. “Wait, where are you going?”
“To get my notes so I don’t mess this up,” you explain, ascending the staircase. You make for your dorm room and grab your notes from your bag. When you get back to the common room, Remus is gone and Sirius is sitting in your chair. You arch a brow. “Up.”
He shoots you an innocent expression. “What? Why?”
“I’m helping you with your essay, Sirius, at least let me sit-”
“But it’s so comfortable here,” he smirks. “If you really want to, you could always sit on my lap.”
“I want a comfortable seat, Black,” you deadpan.
Sirius shrugs. “Your choice. My lap, or you can pull up a chair.”
Alright. If he isn’t going to get up, you might as well take him up on the offer. You know he isn’t expecting you to say yes. Therefore, the best plan of action is to agree and make him uncomfortable.
“Okay. I’ll sit on your lap.”
The smirk fades away for a second. He stammers out a, “Wh-what?”
“Hey, you offered. I don’t want to pull up a chair.”
The same sly look is back after that. He nods, stretching out. “Right, right. A lady like you deserves the best seat in the house, after all.”
If blushing could be prevented, you would’ve seemed totally cool and at ease. Contrarily, blushing is inevitable. So, with reddened cheeks, you climbed onto his lap, your body fitting in between his… rather well, actually. You end up not actually sitting on his lap, but in between his legs. You’re small enough to where he can rest his chin on the top of your head. Therefore, of course, he does.
“Okay…” you gather your notes together and take a deep breath, attempting to un-fluster yourself.
Sirius chuckles. You feel his body move behind you, shifting to help you fit better. “Nervous?” He moves so his mouth is right next to your ears. “There’s no need to be nervous. You’re just showing me… potions notes.”
“I hate you,” you whisper, face hot.
“What was that?”
“I said I hate you-”
“Do you?” Sirius moves his mouth closer to your ear. His breath hitting your skin causes bumps to raise along your arms, which you try to remove by pulling your long sleeves over your hands. “Do you hate me? I don’t hate you.”
“Sirius-”
“In fact, I rather like you. I think you’re very attractive.”
“Sirius,” you breathe, tilting your neck to the side. His hands move from his sides to your arms, sliding along the length of them to land on your shoulders. “What are you doing? I’m supposed to be showing you these notes-”
He chuckles again. His lips are so close to your body you shiver involuntarily. “If you actually wanted to study, would we be in this position?”
“I actually sat here to prove a point, but-” you’re interrupted by the feeling of his lips on your neck. You arch your back and tilt your neck more, letting out a sharp exhale while doing so. “Merlin-”
“That’s not my name, babe.”
You glare, rolling your eyes. “You are completely insufferable.”
He only hums, kissing your neck again. One hand goes to tangle in your hair, the other wraps around your stomach to push your back into his hard chest. You sigh. What harm will come to this? Sure, he’s annoying and arrogant and completely terrible, but he’s also extremely attractive. And if he claims to like you, then you can’t really complain about this. It feels good. And the common room is empty aside from you two, so why the hell not?
You pull away, twisting your body so you’re facing him. He pushes his legs together, forcing you to straddle his body. You put one knee on either side of him and lower yourself onto his lap, for real this time. Sirius is grinning back at you, an arm behind his head.
“You’re hot,” he says.
You raise an eyebrow. “I’m hot? You’re the attractive one.”
“I know that much. Reckoned you should know, too,” he bites his lip and lowers his gaze to yours. “Are you gonna kiss me, or am I going to have to come to you?”
In answer to his question, you lean forward and press your mouths together. His touch immediately travels to your ass, cupping it to propel you forward. You breathe out as one hand explores the length of your body. Your fingers tangle in his long hair, lips moving against his slightly chapped ones. To your surprise, he doesn’t add tongue for a good few minutes. When he does, it’s only slightly, like he’s waiting for your approval.
Snorting, you give it, tangling it with his. Sirius lets out a small pleasing sound, deepening the kiss and leaning forward so much your back arches more than it’s probably supposed to.
If you’re being honest, you’ve snogged enough to know how to breathe during the kiss so you don’t have to break away. He, apparently, has as well; you don’t have to break away until you hear somebody clear their throat behind you.
You pull away and look over your shoulder. James is standing with his girlfriend, Lily, Remus, and Peter.
“I didn’t expect you to get this far,” Remus laughs, shaking his head.
James chuckles, wrapping an arm around Lily’s waist. Having fun?”
Sirius grabs a pillow off the ground and chucks it at the crowd. “Get out of here, mate! I’m busy!”
You roll your eyes and turn back to Sirius. You whisper, “If we keep kissing, they’ll leave eventually.”
“I like that idea,” he replies just as soft, closing the gap between you two. Behind you, you hear a series of groans and an exaggerated, ‘eurgh!’
“Let’s leave them alone,” Lily giggles, followed by footsteps. You continue kissing until you hear the portrait swing shut. Then you break away and rest your forehead against his.
“Should we start on the potions assignment?” You ask.
Sirius shakes his head. “Nah, we still have another week. Here, let’s keep doing this…” And with that, he tangles a hand in your hair and continues sucking on your lip.
