karma - auston matthews
notes: this is based off of @matthewshisch's idea (karma is the guy on the leafs)! so s/o to her <3 also, reader is a singer :)) AND gif not mine !
likes are good, reblogs are better!
being a celebrity meant that no matter what, one thing would always be a fixed thing in your life. and that was the rumours.
one week you were dating a new guy. the next, you were engaged to some kid from your hometown. the next week, you were back with your ex.
no matter what, the dating rumours always flew around you. maybe the fact that you never made it public with anyone fuelled those even more. whatever the case, it was funny reading them.
especially when you thought about what you had planned for tonight.
a knock sounded on your door, followed by a familiar voice, "did someone order some flowers?"
you couldn't help the smile growing on your face as you made eye contact with auston in the mirror.
you were in your dressing room at the stadium, getting ready for the opening night of your multi-month tour. you'd worked hard to get to where you were now -- one of the most successful female artists in the world.
and right there by your side, supporting you for the past year, was none other than auston matthews, your boyfriend. you'd met at a leafs game years ago, but he'd only reached out to you just over a year before. ever since then, the two of you kept your relationship under wraps for the most part, doing your best to just enjoy your time together without the media's comments.
you'd talked about going public before, but for the most part, decided to let life take it's course. of course... tonight would be a pretty big surprise.
"hi, you made it," you got up from your chair, sinking into his arms for a hug.
"i wouldn't miss this for the world," he responded, placing a kiss to the top of your head. "it's my girl's big day. first tour in almost three years. nothing's gonna stop me from being here."
you grinned stupidly to yourself, finding auston's words so comforting and sweet. even after a whole year, he managed to make you feel giddy.
"i'm really happy you're here," you whispered, pulling away. "oh! i've got a surprise for you, but i can't give it to you right now. i'll give it after, okay?"
"a surprise for me?" auston repeated. "it's your day."
"hush, i wanted to do it," you said.
another knock sounded on your door, and your assistant, jenny, poked her head in. "y/n, we've got to start in ten. let's go. auston, mark's got your seat saved. head over quick, or someone'll spot you."
"that's not a big deal," auston waved it off. "if someone spots me, they spot me. it's not the end of the world."
"well, fact remains, we need y/n right now," she said. "c'mon, you can have her back when she's done her show."
"i'll see you soon," you kissed auston, before following jenny out to your position.
you adjusted your earpiece, waiting for the lights to dim. as soon as they did, the platform you were standing on moved higher, allowing you to enter directly on stage.
the lights turned back on, and the crowd went wild.
"let the show begin," you whispered to yourself.
---
"'cause karma is the thunder," you sang, "rattling your ground. karma's on your scent like a bounty hunter. karma's gonna track you down."
the crowd waved their flashlights in the air, following you as you continued dancing to the beat of the song, singing along. getting closer and closer to the surprise you planned for auston.
"step by step from town to town," you continued. "sweet like justice, karma is a queen. karma takes all my friends to the summit..."
you paused for half a second, allowing production to ready themselves and for the crowd to pay attention to the small change.
"karma is the guy on the leafs, coming straight home to me!"
you stomped on the mark, blue sparklers going off on either side of the stage -- matching with the colour of your dress and the leafs' colours.
the crowd screamed as you continued your performance, losing their minds at the confirmation that you and auston were dating.
"cause karma is my boyfriend," you locked eyes with auston in the crowd, noticing him smiling widely to himself as people nearby recorded the interaction. winking at him, you continued your song, "karma is a god."
the crowd continued chanting throughout the song, no one truly getting over the lyric change you'd done.
you had a feeling there were gonna be rumours about this for a while.

A. Matthews - Open Doors
✄————————————
Auston Matthews x Reader
Word Count: 3.2k
Warning(s): mention of temporarily losing a child -as in the kid ran off-, little bit of flirting, a lot of domestic fluff.
I literally just found out the other day too, that Auston’s mother is Hispanic, and that he grew up speaking primarily Spanish to his mother. <3
Proofread loosely
Requests for the reader, Hudson, and Auston can be made! It’s not a full AU, but these three can have specific/special requests!
—————————————
The doors of life open and close at odd times. One can be devastated by the loss of an opportunity, only for the next to be more promising or beneficial. I didn’t assume losing my child would have been an opportunity. Until I found him playing fetch with a man and his fluffy dog. Tossing a little tennis ball across the park and chasing after the dog as if it was a game, while the dog went to get the ball.
“Oh my god! Hudson!” I sprinted in his direction, confusing the poor kid as to why I was so concerned. He was only five, still oblivious to the cruelty of the world. I fell to my knees and hugged my son tight, his quiet giggles and attempts to push me back falling short.
“So that’s his name?” I looked up at the man, smooth skin and a faint stubble. A mustache that looked plucked from the 80’s. And a smile full of pearly white teeth. He had a hat pulled over his head, with a sports logo on it that I hadn’t been all too familiar with.
“Hudson? Yeah. Thank you so much for keeping an eye on him. I just- I took my eye off him for one second and-“ Hudson wiggled from my grasp to go tug the ball from the dog’s mouth.
“Hey, hey. It’s okay. Kids are a lot to handle sometimes. I get it.” His words led my gaze back to Hudson, watching him wrestle with a dog the same size as him.
“You have some of your own?”
“Definitely not,” the man laughed out. “But I babysit for friends sometimes.” When I looked back to him, his hand was held out in a silent offer. I took it and allowed him to help me up off the ground.
“Thank you, again. It means the most.”
“Of course.” Hudson’s laughter drew both our eyes.
“Your dog’s name?” I asked.
“Felix. Your name?” When he asked, I provided, a newfound nervous smile on my lips.
“And yours?” I added.
“Auston with an ‘O’.”
“I don’t work at Starbucks.” I teased softly.
“Yeah, but you’ll need to know how to spell it when you take my number.”
It caught me off guard. And had Auston not found and taken care of my child, I would have turned him down immediately. But considering the circumstances, and his looks, I allowed him to put his number in my phone.
A door had opened, and though I had been hesitant to walk through it, I inevitably did. I walked right into another life. Another world.
“Auston‘s on the tv!”
I was lucky enough that Hudson wanted to walk through it with me.
“Where’s he at, hun?”
“He’s on the ice! Oh! Oh!” the excitement in Hudson’s tone, supporting a guy he had such an attachment to, never ceased to warm my heart. But it also worried me. It would break Hudson if something went wrong between Auston and I. I only asked him a thousand times if he truly wanted a package deal before we got together. And even then I didn’t push any responsibilities on Auston.
We were in a relationship, and I just happened to have a child. But Hudson wasn’t his, and at some point I knew Auston would have to start advocating for the boy’s care if he truly wanted a glimpse of a future for us. But we were a mere two months into our relationship, and I wasn’t in a rush. He already did enough.
“Oh goal! Number thirty four, Auston Matthews!” When I peeked into the living room, I saw my son, standing with his arms wide open and a foot up off the floor. Mirroring the stance of Auston, who performed his signature celly on the tv.
“You better congratulate him on that goal when he gets here tonight.” I slipped back into the kitchen. Hudson smiled and nodded, and he certainly did congratulate Auston when the time came. When he came barreling through my front door with a bag in hand and dressed down in a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt. His unruly yet flawlessly curly hair was damp, I assumed from a shower. It was dark outside, but my front drive was illuminated by the automatic motion triggered light.
“What did ya think of that, Buddy?” Auston’s voice rang out, and I looked up from the couch in time to see Hudson abandon his toys on the floor to barrel headfirst into Auston’s legs.
“Awesome!”
“That first one was for you.” Auston ruffled Hudson’s hair, trying to take a step forward only for my son to cling to his leg, hitching a ride.
“Who was the second one for?”
“Your mom, goof.” Auston’s cheery tone made me roll my eyes. Hudson pulled away from the man when he made it to the couch, dropping down, and the bag in his hand making enough noise to finally gain my child’s attention. And my curiosity.
“What’s in the bag?” I asked, turning my body sideways to face his own.
“An early birthday gift for Hudsy.” I raised a brow. I hadn’t expected Auston to get anything. Or even to remember the detail I mentioned in passing. Hudson however, lit up like a Christmas tree.
“Lemme see!”
“Oh just wait. You’re gonna love ‘em.” I folded my arms across my chest, as if to challenge his statement. My kid was picky. He didn’t like a lot of things. He was always grateful, yes, but still opinionated.
“Up on the couch.” Auston smiled from ear to ear as Hudson climbed up onto the cushion between us. “Alright. This is just the first part of your gift okay? We have to build on it.” I raised a brow as Auston reached into the bag.
“Come on!”
“Hudson.” I scolded gently. He glanced back at me with a sorry expression. “Patience.” He nodded and looked back at Auston, who in turn looked at me for approval to continue. I nodded.
“Ready?” He teased.
“Yes!” Hudson could barely hold still. And when Auston pulled out a black box labeled on the top with ‘CCM’, my boy’s brow furrowed in confusion. Then he opened the box, and twisted it around in his lap to show Hudson the fresh pair of rollerblades.
“Oh my god!”
“Auston,” my tone took on an immediate sound of surprise and tension. Auston’s initial expression of excitement upon Hudson’s reaction, turned into concern upon hearing my own. “Those were expensive- those had to be expensive.”
“It’s okay. I don’t mind.. it’s just skates, and he can use these for years.”
“His feet aren’t going to stay that small for years.” I argued in a soft tone, careful not to upset Hudson.
“They’ll stay small long enough.” Auston was always so nonchalant about everything. So ‘it is what it is.’ Sometimes it calmed me. Other times it stressed me out. I wasn’t sure what to make of his attitude at that point, so instead I let out a sigh and nodded.
“Okay,” I gave in.
“We have to try them out!”
“Not in the house.” I was swift to tell Hudson.
“Outside!”
“Right now? In the dark?” I glanced at Auston. “He could fall and hurt himself in the dark.”
“I’ve got him.”
I’d never trusted another man more with my child. Not once. Not his father, not my father, not my grandfather. But Auston?
“I’ll get his bike helmet.” I slowly stood up, straightening out the satin shorts of my pjs.
“Auston doesn’t wear a helmet!”
“He does on the ice.”
“Not when he’s rollerblading.” Hudson’s persistence made me groan.
“Tonight, he wears a helmet.”
And he did. My pink and black bike helmet. That I had to loosen a bit to fit his head properly. I followed the boys outside, and watched Auston get his own rollerblades from the trunk of his car before he came back to the porch steps.
“You sit down right there, and I’ll tie ‘em for you. Okay?” Hudson immediately plopped down on the edge of the deck, and I set his skates down beside him.
I opened the front door and reached inside to turn the porch light on.
“You boys gonna want snacks or water?”
“Hmm.. no thanks.” Hudson shook his head, far too excited as Auston got down on his knees slipped the kid’s first skate on.
“You got Goldfish still?” I stifled a laugh when Auston looked up at me.
“Always. Goldfish and two waters?”
“That’s a good idea.” I slipped back inside to grab the box of Goldfish, only to open the fridge and pause when it dawned on me.
I had a man in my front drive, putting a pair of skates on my kid. Teaching him how to do something. Something athletic. Something sporty. Promising to protect him. Trying to be a father. I felt the tightness in my throat before the burning of tears in my eyes accompanied it. I never imagined a world where Hudson had a dad. I wanted to, but I had pushed it aside long ago. I sniffed and wiped my eyes, the faint sound of laughter creeping through the open front door.
I asked myself why I left it open, when anybody could have walked inside? Because there was a man in my yard. Watching my kid. There was a man who granted love and protection. And ease to a life of constant stress. I smiled so hard it hurt. I slipped the two bottles of water from the fridge and closed the door before leaving the kitchen to go back outside. Greeted by the sight of Auston skating backwards, holding Hudson’s hands and guiding him forward down the slight slope of my driveway. Hudson’s foot slipped, and a moment of terror gripped my chest before Auston hoisted him up by his arms. Relief flooded my system. I was not one to film many things, but I had no shame in quickly setting the water and Goldfish aside, running inside to grab my phone, coming back with the video already playing, focusing my camera on the two in the driveway.
“Don’t point your feet inward. You gotta keep ‘em straight.” Auston would occasionally stop to nudge Hudson’s feet apart with one of his own.
“Look up at me. You look at the ground and you won’t know where you’re going.” He’d guide Hudson’s eyes straight with gentle words.
“When you start to get the hang of it, I have to let you go.” I couldn’t see my kid’s face, but I knew there was fear in his eyes. I had since set my phone down, leaning against the rail. I wanted to call to him, to remind him he’d be okay, but I decided to allow Auston a chance. No better time to learn like the present. And if I was going to completely trust Auston in the future with my kid, I needed to know he could handle every situation.
“It’s gonna happen, bud.” He slowed to a stop. “I know it’s scary, but falling is part of learning.” He leaned forward a bit. “You know what I used to do when I always fell?”
“What?” Hudson’s quiet voice was barely audible to me.
“I’d go running to my mom. And she’d hold me, and clean up my bumps and bruises. And then she’d send me right back outside to do it again.”
“Why?”
“Because sometimes you gotta fail to learn.”
“What did your dad do?”
Auston was caught at a loss for words, but only for a second.
“He’d usually just tell me to walk it off.. which is why I never went to him too much.” He passed off the answer as a joke, laughing quietly. I could tell by Hudson’s silence, that he didn’t understand how that was funny, or why Auston was laughing.
“What would you do?”
“After he told me to walk it off?”
“No.. what would you do- if I fell?”
I stiffened. I noticed the way Auston’s eyes drifted past Hudson to look at me. His brow furrowed in a questioning manner. I gave him a look of approval. So far, so good. Perhaps he knew how much our relationship and his place in mine and Hudson’s life rode on that answer.
“Well, first I’d have to pick you up, and I’d have to go rummaging through your mother’s cabinets to find stuff to clean any cuts. Probably slap a couple Hello Kitty bandaids on ya..” he smiled, let out a breathy laugh.
“I don’t like Hello Kitty!”
“Transformers?”
“Better.”
“Alright, Transformers.” Auston removed one of his hands from Hudson’s to ruffle his hair. “And after the bandaids it’s right back outside. Unless you really don’t want to. But sometimes tough love is a good thing.”
“Tough love.” Hudson repeated in a quizzical manner.
“Like.. making somebody do what they don’t want to, because you know it’s gonna benefit them in the end. Like helping them get over a fear.. like if there’s a girl they really wanna ask out, but they’re too afraid. Sometimes you gotta push ‘em into it.” Maybe not the best example, but I’d give Auston credit where it was due. He was doing a good job.
“Girls are gross.”
“They are.” The boys shared quiet laughter as I rolled my eyes.
“And what if the girl says no?”
“Then she says no. And you learn from that experience. The same way it is when you fall. You’re always gonna fall on skates. I still do it sometimes. It’s about knowing there’s a chance you’re gonna fall, and being brave enough to still go out and do it.” Silence followed Auston’s words. Then I saw Hudson nod.
“You can let me go.”
“Look at you, big man.” Auston teased, slow to release Hudson’s other hand. “Don’t move yet, okay? Just get a feel for standing.”
“Okay..” I watched Hudson straighten his ankles, and find a good stance.
“Move when you’re ready.”
We were out there for another hour or so. Well past Hudson’s bedtime. He fell a few times, but thanks to the sweater and pants he had on, he avoided any bleeding or cuts. My heart lurched every time Hudson tumbled, but the ache wasn’t near as bad when I watched Auston help him up and dust him off, asking if anything hurt too much or if he wanted to take a break. The only breaks they did take were for the occasional sip of water or a handful of goldfish. I took time to praise Hudson when he accomplished standing better, skating longer lengths, understanding the way to move. Then eventually my encouragement turned to quiet laughter as the boys started playing around.
Auston hoisted Hudson onto his shoulders, keeping a tight grip on the kid as he skated circles in the driveway. A playful yell occasionally falling from the boys’ lips.
When a yawn slipped past my own, I knew it was time to go in. I slowly stood up from my porch chair and reached for the box of Goldfish. Auston and Hudson both looked at me. Like deer in headlights.
“What are you doing with those?” Auston was the first to ask.
“Hudson needs to go to bed.” I informed him with a smirk.
“What?” Hudson whined. “No!”
“You’ve been up well past your bedtime, Buddy.” I placed my free hand on my hip.
“Please! Just another five minutes? Auston’s gonna leave!” I raised a brow.
“He’ll be back another time.”
“Yeah, when I’m at school.” I had been completely transparent with Hudson when Auston and I got together. He knew we were dating. At first he was uncertain, but he’d grown comfortable with the idea. His only issue since then had been the fact that he was never home when Auston was around.
“It’s a Saturday tomorrow.” When Auston spoke up, my gaze flickered toward him. I wasn’t sure whose side he was arguing for.
“And?”
“I have extra clothes in my trunk.”
“You wanna stay?”
“Can I stay?”
“Please!” Hudson immediately chimed in, his hands landing awful hard on top of Auston’s helmet. He flinched, but recovered quickly.
“You gonna put him to bed too?”
“Please!” Hudson’s excitement went momentarily unnoticed by us, trying to have a semi-serious conversation.
“I can do that.”
I acted as though I was contemplating my options, before I waved a hand and began to walk inside.
“I guess he can stay.” I knew Hudson let out a shout of excitement, but I was almost certain Auston had muttered a quiet, ‘yes’ as well.
The boys followed me into the house, Hudson running for his bedroom after Auston had set him down.
I stopped in the kitchen to set the water and crackers aside before walking into the living are.
“Where’s he off to?” I questioned as I folded up the blanket on the couch.
“Changing into his pjs.”
I chuckled and tossed the blanket into the basket by the wall.
“And you?” I folded my arms across my chest. “What do you think you’re sleeping in?”
“This.” He gestured to what he had on as he slowly crossed the floor. Auston rested his hands on my arms. “Or whatever I can get away with that’s less.”
“Auston.” I scolded softly.
“Cariño.” Darling. Honey. Dear. I leaned into his chest, and Auston slowly wrapped his arms around me. I hadn’t been so vulnerable with a man in a long time. Auston simply made it too easy.
“You have a kid to put to bed.” I spoke reluctantly.
“And a girlfriend to worry about.”
“You do too much, Aus.”
“I’d argue I haven’t done enough.” His confession was heartwarming and gut wrenching at the same time.
“You’ll get there.” I promised. “It’s a learning process. But right now, you’re doing amazing.” I slowly pulled back to look at him. “Hudson loves you. I love you. You make us happy. You’re here at times nobody expects you to be.. like tonight, with that birthday gift.” I paused. “Early birthday gift.” I watched him smile.
“So I’m meeting your standards?”
“Going above and beyond.” I promised, standing on my tippy toes. Auston leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss to my lips.
“You should probably go find Hudson before he falls asleep.” I whispered. “He likes it when I tuck the blankets under his feet, and sometimes he likes his fan on. You have to ask.”
“Thanks.” Auston slowly pulled away.
“Don’t forget to sing to him too.” I watched his eyes go wide.
“I have to sing?” He sounded shocked. I laughed.
“I don’t make the rules, Aus.” I shrugged. “But I promise the secret’s safe with me if you sing for him.”
“Its not that it’s just- I mean.. I suck at singing.”
“He’s a kid. The most he’ll do is laugh at you and tell you to quit.”
“Then what?”
“Then you come find me. I’ll sing for him.”

drunk dial | auston matthews
a very long time ago, an anon sent me an ask with a prompt that was like “so we’re just ignoring the fact that you drunk dialed me to tell me you love me?” with auston and @nolypats and i have been chatting recently and, well this is finally completed
-----
It’s a typical Saturday night and the boys don’t have another game until Wednesday, somehow, someway, so you arrive at Scotiabank Arena dressed for the bar after and notice immediately that you aren’t the only one who’d made the choice to do so.
“Ohhh.” Steph runs her fingers along the sleeve of your leather jacket as soon as you slip into the seat beside her. “I love this! New?”
You nod at her, but are already busy gushing over her sweater to answer anything else about the jacket, which you’d openly lusted over for months before your best friend had surprised you with it for your birthday a few weeks ago, despite your insistence to Auston that it was too much.
Steph seems to have been waiting for you to arrive because as soon as you do, she flags down Alannah, who grins as soon as she sees you. “Wine o’ clock!” She cheers and you grin, standing and following the two of them to the closest spot in the club level for you each to get a glass.
It sets the tone for the evening, with the three of you giggly and tipsy by the time the game ends and you meet up with everyone in the lounge downstairs.
“Oh boy.” Zach’s eyes widen almost comically, when he’s the first one to approach the three of you, coming out of the locker room fresh off his shower. Alannah straight up squeals when she sees her husband, throwing her arms around him like she hasn’t seen him in days or weeks, instead of like five hours, and you give the reaction the giggles it deserves, hearing Steph join in right behind you. “Oh boy.” Zach repeats, looking between the three of you.
“What’s going on?” Mitch asks, appearing at his side, with Auston and Will right behind him.
“It’s wine o’ clock, bitch!” Steph cheers, erupting into a fit of giggles, and that’s the last thing you remember.
-----
Considering how much your head is pounding the next morning, you’re just happy to wake up in a bed, even if you know right away that it isn’t your own. It takes you a few minutes to open your eyes, but you breathe a sigh of relief when you do, taking in the familiar sights of one of Steph and Mitch’s guest rooms.
Poor Mitch. You bite back a laugh, taking your time to sit up at the edge of the bed, and a couple deep breaths as it makes your headache even worse. You might not remember last night, but you know from prior experience that having to wrangle a drunk you and Steph back here was no easy task for him. You owe him big time.
The two of them are both, unsurprisingly, already awake when you make your way downstairs, nursing large and larger cups of coffee. “Any more of that?” You ask hopefully, and Mitch snorts, while Steph points pathetically toward the counter.
There is, blessedly, a good portion of the pot still left, and still warm, and you pour it in a mug, hugging it toward your chest like the lifeline it’s about to be. “Sorry, Mitch.”
“You will be when you see the pictures.” Mitch says cheerfully, way too cheerfully for this early in the morning, especially considering how hungover you are.
You groan immediately, noticing Steph’s done the same only after she bangs her head against the counter and follows it with a soft, “Ow.”
“Where’s my phone?” You whine reluctantly. You might as well get the roast over with.
Your phone is hiding in the blankets of the bed you’d slept in, almost dead, where you’d apparently just thrown it at some point. Steph’s already back in the kitchen when you make your way down, her face paling even as she occasionally laughs at whatever she’s scrolling through.
Your own phone has more than a few messages with pictures from last night, as well as a few more chats that are blowing up with texts this morning, commenting from last night, but there’s one message that catches your eye.
It’s from Auston, separate from any of the group chats, and it catches your eye because it’s just...not like a usual text he’d send you? you good? is the only thing he’s sent, no emojis, nothing, and it’s strange enough that you ignore the other incoming texts to explore through your phone a little to see what you could have done to get a text like that.
Instagram and Snapchat both yield nothing- embarrassing videos, sure, but nothing overly terrible- and the photos making their way through the texts are the same, but your call log is another story.
“Shit.” You groan, swiping back into your messages with your best friend.
“What?” Steph asks.
“I called Auston, like, ten times last night.” You tell them, more focused on texting him. i’m sorryyyyy. didn’t mean to keep you up
it’s good. He sends back a few minutes later, and you frown, because as cool and chill as he might pretend to be, he’s not, and this is strange.
couch movie day? You ask him. The coffee has done the trick; you at least feel like you could move, and there’s no better way to spend a hungover Sunday than with your best friend, lounging on his supremely comfortable couch. i’ll even agree to football if that’s what you so desire.
yeah alright, that sounds good. It’s punctuated with the fingers forming the ok sign emoji, though, and that, at least, is close enough to normal that you smile. You must have kept him up later than you even realized with your calls, for him to be so short with you.
“Alright lovelies.” You suck down the last bit of coffee and address your hosts. “Thanks for the bed last night. I owe you big time, Mitch.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll come collecting!” He teases.
“Headed to Auston’s though.” You press a kiss to Steph’s head and then Mitch’s as well. “Comfy sweats and a couch calling my name.”
——-
When you let yourself into your best friend’s place, it comes as almost no surprise to find a giant ginger sitting at the counter. “Freddie!” You beam, throwing your arms around him and regretting it pretty quickly, once your head starts to pound again. He starts to squeeze you, returning the hug, but you shake your head quickly. “Nope, don’t do that.”
“Alright, fair enough.” He laughs. “So rough night last night, huh?”
You level him with a look but he barely even blinks, and you sigh. “Where’s Auston?”
“Right here.” Your best friend is still shirtless as he walks out of his bedroom, yanking some ridiculous graphic tee over his head as he gets closer, which gives you the second you need to look away and take a breath after even just that tiny minute of exposure. Auston’s abs are honestly unfair and they are, objectively, not even his best feature. “Hey.” He gives you a nod, fixing the glasses he tries to pretend he’s too cool to actually need, refusing to wear them outside the house unless absolutely necessary, and you grin back; as annoyed as he may have seemed over text, he’s not acting that way at all now.
“Is there coffee made?” You ask hopefully. Auston rolls his eyes at you, but nods over at his absurdly fancy machine, the one that had taken you about three months to figure out how to use. “Sweet, you’re amazing. I’m stealing that and then going to steal some sweats, okay?” You don’t even wait for him to respond, knowing it’ll be fine. Precedent is on your side here. Instead, you reach for a mug and address Freddie instead. “Fred, you joining?”
“Nah.” Freddie says, surprising you a bit. You’ve never known him to turn down a lazy Sunday. “You two have fun.” He says, giving you a knowing glance, which means he definitely caught you looking at Auston earlier, and it’s only the fact that Auston is standing right there that stops you from flipping Fred off on his way out the door.
It figures Freddie’s freaky goalie powers would be working now. Catches onto your more-than-best-friends-feelings for Auston, sure, but too oblivious to notice the hot neighbor in his building he’s crushing on is practically in love with him. Good one, Fred.
It’s barely a minute after Freddie clears out that you slip past Auston to go change, bringing your coffee mug along with you and reaching for your favorite pair of sweatpants the minute you enter his room. They’re old and perfectly worn, from his first year in the league, too small for Auston now, but just large enough for you to feel cozy in. One of his comfier sweatshirts completes your outfit for the day. Auston might be able to survive the day in a t-shirt, always radiating heat even as he complains about the Toronto cold, but fuck that, you were ready to be comfortable and nap through an afternoon of American football.
Auston is already settled on the couch and if you weren’t so hungover, you’d throw yourself on him, just to be obnoxious, but as it is, you settle slowly onto the cushions beside him, and then lower your head to rest in his lap, frowning to yourself when you feel him tense.
But it happens so quick; one minute his quads are tight underneath you and the next he’s relaxed again, you find yourself wondering if you imagined the entire thing. Maybe he wasn’t even annoyed with you this morning either; maybe you were just projecting your annoyance at the entire world onto him.
His hand moves to your hair, just like it always would, and you decide your hangover must have you paranoid. “How’s your fantasy team going to do today?” You mumble, already ready to fall back asleep.
Auston hums. “Good, I think. I play Willy this week and he’s a fucking disaster.” You giggle into his lap; his hand stills for a second, but then goes right back to playing with your hair. “Hey, uh, you-” Auston starts, but whatever he says next goes unheard by you, as you give into the sleep that’s been ready to overtake you since you settled onto his lap only moments ago.
-----
It’s hours later when you come to again and you only know this because whatever football game Auston has on is well into the second half.
It takes you a few minutes to wake up again, slowly coming out of your sleepy state, before you realize that Auston’s talking to someone- quietly, but talking pretty freely- and it’s actually this that’s what has woken you up.
“Yeah it’s-” Auston cuts off frustratedly. He sounds kind of like he wants to be pacing but your head is still in his lap and his hand has moved from your hair to rest on your shoulder, brushing gentle strokes over the curve of it. “I just haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.”
Ohhh, juicy. You don’t want to listen in on Auston’s conversation; you know he’ll bring it up to you when he’s ready, but well, it’s hard not to. You can’t get up without alerting him that you’re awake already. You shut your eyes again tightly, focus on your breathing, and try to fall back asleep, but he’s talking again. “You don’t just get the fuck over that, Fred.” He hisses and ohhh, that sounds angry. You wonder what could have possibly happened to make him sound like that; the two of them never fight. “I would have gotten over her already if I could.”
And that’s the end of that for you. You’re already feeling sick enough today before hearing Auston and Fred talk about one of Auston’s girls. You squeeze your eyes closed tightly and re-double your efforts on trying to fall back asleep, concentrating on blocking out the sound of his voice.
It works a lot better when you focus on how his hand feels on your shoulder, but it still feels like taking the L.
-----
The second time you wake that afternoon is much smoother. Your headache is basically gone, but the tradeoff is Auston’s thumb digging into your upper trap, which you ease off. “Sorry.” He winces, soothing that spot immediately and you don’t have to look up at the TV to know the Raiders have just done something terrible for his well being.
“I’m hungry.” You whine at him and he laughs.
“Two minutes.” He responds, checking the time, which of course, turns into more like five, because the difference between “football time” and “real time” is fucking riduclous, but when the half does end, you sit up, the two of you swiping between food delivery apps to decide on dinner for the evening.
When you look up from your phone, Auston’s looking at you with a soft smile, that one you can’t let yourself look at for too long. “I’m gonna shower real quick, if you don’t mind?”
You’re already standing before he answers, but he nods, smile fading from his face a little. “Yeah, go for it.”
“Thanks.” You call, already moving towards the master bath, ready to steal a second pair of sweats for the day.
The shower is the distraction that you need, the step away from that smile that’s too close to everything that you want. The large walk-in a scalding reminder of every other girl who may have been in this position, of the girl who Auston wants to keep around in this position, the one girl who’s managed to do the thing hundreds of girls in Toronto thought was impossible. Auston’s soap smells bitter today, as you lather yourself in it, wondering how you became one of those girls.
You must have taken longer than you thought in the shower because the food’s arrived when you come back out. Auston’s unpacking the takeout bags onto the coffee table, with utensils ready. “Ohh, smells good.” You tug the long sleeves of his shirt over your hands, settling into the couch next to him again and watching him spread your takeout favorites out in front of the two of you. “Thank you.
Auston hums in response, passing you over your favorite dish ordered, the one that you love and he hates, and you only kind of watch him make a plate for himself, a mish-mash of options from the rest of the meals that you’d ordered, more focused on the plate of food in front of you, which is maybe why it’s a total surprise when he says, “We’re really just going to ignore you drunk-dialling me to tell me you love me?”
You choke. “What?”
Auston pales. “Uhh.” He freezes; his fork’s halfway to his mouth, but you can’t even chirp him for how lame he looks right now and it’s not even just because you apparently did something a hundred times more stupid.
No, it’s because your mind is racing at the fact that you did do something a hundred times more stupid last night and you can’t even put together a coherent thought about that, let alone anything else. No fucking wonder he’s been strange all day.
“Uh.” Auston repeats. “You know what? Don’t worry about it.”
“Absolutely not!” You protest, words finally coming back to you. “What the fuck? God, I’m so sorry!”
And somehow, that makes this worse? Auston’s shoulder’s tense, he looks extremely interested in his food suddenly. “I mean, it’s cool.” He shrugs, acting again too chill for the situation.
It’s a long moment before you respond, trying to gather your thoughts before you say something you don’t mean. “Is it though? Because you’ve been weird all day and I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable, but, like, I can’t take it back now. So the best I can do is leave and like, let me know if you want to talk about it ever and promise not to make things super weird everytime I see you if you don’t want to talk about it.” You don’t realize you’ve stood up at some point in this chat, but Auston still hasn’t responded, and well, maybe it’s for the best that you’ve stood.
You turn to leave, only for him to tug you back gently toward him, but he either pulls harder than he thinks or you’re just not expecting the tug, and you land in his lap instead of the couch. It’s hardly a graceful fall, with Auston having to loop his free hand behind your back to catch you, your nose bumping against his shoulder on the way down, and your legs folding under you unnaturally until you squirm around to fix them.
Auston’s barely breathing when you finally look up at him, a little annoyed that he’s still acting weird after what you said. “Could you-” He trails off. “Just sit still for a second please?” You give him a look, but settle down, stopping your movements, and he takes a deep breath, relaxing, finally. “I’m sorry if I’ve been weird all day, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you telling me you loved me.”
You huff at him, annoyed and ready to climb off his lap to storm out, but he tightens his grip on you, like he knows what you’re thinking. “You don’t have to rub it in.”
“I swear, I’m not!” His thumb slides up to brush a spot of skin between the waistband of the sweatpants and the oversized shirt. “I haven’t been about to stop thinking about that, and then you came in here, looking like you always do, in my clothes all day, and I’ve been trying so fucking hard not to ruin shit between us for months now,” Your eyes widen and your jaw drops as everything starts coming together. “Until last night, when you called me and left me that message and I thought maybe we were on the same page…”
“Except I didn’t remember doing it.” It pains you to even say it; you hate that he’s been feeling uncertain throughout the entire day. Uncertain and unsure and just...hanging. “Auston-” You reach your hand out to brush against his cheek.
“You didn’t even mention it.” He says. “Not in your texts, not once you got here. I thought...I thought you just wanted to carry on with things as normal, that you regretted saying it, or wanted to take it back completely?” He shakes his head, like he’s clearing his thoughts, but you don’t let him move away, putting your hand right back on his cheek.
“I mean, I wish I remembered saying it.” You tell him softly. “But I don’t think I’ll ever regret loving you.”
“Good.” Auston says firmly, and you barely have time to grin in response to that before he’s tugging you closer in his lap and kissing you soundly.

Frantic -- Matthew Tkachuk (Pt.1)
a/n: I’ve spent the past 48 hours reading fanfiction for this man, it is time I write something
Summary: Growing up around the game y/n has met too many hockey players to name but one of her brothers old team mates always held a special place in her mind. Running into Matthew wasn’t what she had in mind but maybe it was a good thing.
Word Count: 1.5K
Warnings: age gap
---------------------------------------------
Frantic was the only way to describe you on this cold February morning. Overtired from a frustrating night of painting, annoyed at your roommate and already stressed about tonight's game. As you manover your body through the streets of Toronto the air was almost too cold to handle. Not remembering a jacket or boots, it was just you, your coveralls over an old sweater and beat up vans dredging through the snow to the coffee shop around the corner. Your head was throbbing as you were walking but the streets were quiet for 7am and that was the only thing you appreciate about the day so far.
“Stupid pregame rituals, stupid Nick, stupid Emily reminding me I made a promise.” You grumbling as you throw yourself into the store, shuffling to the side knowing your mobile order would be up soon. Closing your eyes you bring your hands up to your face to relieve some of the from tension from your eyes you're met with the cold feeling of wet paint on your skin. This morning just kept getting better.
“Mobile order for Y/N!” The barista yells, snapping you out of your bitter attitude. You say a soft thank you as you turn on your heels, suddenly being met with the hard chest of the man standing behind you. As you pull away your face drops as you see blobs of black and blue paint where your face hit is white hoodie.
“Oh my god! I am so so sorry. Game day turns me into a mess, at least let me--” He cuts you off before you offer to pay for his drink. Looking up, you’re thrown off when you meet his eye. You haven’t seen Matthew in probably four years. He’s filled out, the curls on his head suit him and his blue eyes are still the same. A blush creeps over your cheeks of as memories of watching him practice and endless team dinners filled your mind. You wonder if he recognizes you but his words confirm that you are in fact a stranger to him.
His first statement is extreamly blunt for how early it is “You’re too much of a mess to work for either organization.”
You were a little thrown off. He scans you up and down before he continues. “Guessing by how young you look you’re probably a girlfriend so…” He drags the o-sound out for far too long making you giggle slightly then he keeps going “Which leaf will be paying for my hoodie in punches tonight?” His face twists into a wicked smile as he waits for a response.
Taking a deep breath you reply. “Technically, Nick Robertson… BUT I’m not his girlfriend nor is it his fault that your clothes are ruined. Plus I think my roommate would prefer I wasn’t the reason her boyfriend loses some of his teeth.” You voice trailed off near the end because the thought of that happening made your head hurt even more.
He stands there as you watch the gears turn in his head. In a moment of quick thinking you blurt out, “I’m a flames fan! If that makes this situation better.” Smiling slightly as he rolls his eyes.
Quietly he says, “Fine, I’ll let it slide… but I better see you in the stands in red tonight sweetheart.” He flashes you a wink as he reaches past you to grab his coffee and he quickly leaves you standing in the empty shop once again.
Dumbfounded, your phone begins to buzz in your pocket seeing your moms name flash across your screen. You groan internally and talk to her the whole walk back to the apartment as you replay your meeting with Matt.
-------------------
“Y/N are you ready yet!! We’re going to be late!” Emily screams from the living room as she adjusts her beanie for the millionth time and looks at Nick’s last in the mirror with a goofy smile.
You were standing in your room with two jerseys staring back at you. You couldn’t make up your mind between the blue and white #16 and the red and black #19. You knew the consequences of both choices and decide you could deal with Tkachuk’s bad attitude. Slipping the leaf jersey over your shoulders it swallows you whole but the hoodie you have on underneath makes up for that a bit. You pull on a black Nike ballcap, grab your bag and meet Emily in the living room. As she goes to ask you what the hell you are wearing you just shake your head and start for the door.
The guys are doing their big entrance into the arena as you and Emily make your way to your seats next to the penalty box. She’s scolding you the whole time about missing warmups and how she’ll be getting an earful from Nick later about being late. You zone out as you scan the ice for Matt. Unfortunately, he finds you before you can find him and a frown is glued to his face. Like you decided earlier, you will deal with him later.
The game was actually pretty good with the Flames winning in overtime. Matt shooting you dirty looks every time he was sent to the box which kinda made you laugh. Standing in the family and friends area, Nick is one of the first out, pulling Em aside to ask where you guys were and probably looking for support after the game. Leaving you fend for yourself. A few minutes pass and Matty is out now along with a few other leaf players who were hanging close by, you instantly catch his eye. Making his way over to you he puts his hand over your head and uses two fingers to lift your chin so you meet his eye.
“I thought I asked you to wear red tonight princess, you’re breaking my poor little heart.” He slides his tongue over his bottom lip, cocky grin never faltering.
Returning his energy you push up on your toes as you breathe on his neck “You haven’t seen what I’m wearing underneath this yet, handsome.”
Surprise covers his face and quickly turns into lust again. Before he can say anything you duck under his arm, running full force towards Mitch as he approaches. Opening his arms for a hug, you hurl yourself at him and he spins you around. As Matthew watches, jealousy burns in his chest as he approaches you to chirp Marner.
Before he has a chance to bite, Mitch starts laughing.
“I can’t believe you actually wore it, must been torture for you.” He ruffles your hair and you scoff at his antics.
“I swear you told her about the bet just so you could watch me in pain.” Your smile was so radiant as you laughed Matthew couldn’t help but smile too.
“I swear I didn’t! I just knew mom would want to know how your midterm piece went more than how I was feeling about a game.” Matthew was a few feet away still pretending to play on his phone as he listened to the two of you so he wasn’t sure if he heard Mitch right.
“Matty! I didn’t see you there, bring it in buddy!” Mitch called him over, bringing him into a tight hug. You stood there awkwardly watching the two old friends catch up when Mitch finally remembers you’re there.
“Oh hey, you remember my little sister Y/N from when you lived in London right.” The second the words left your brother's mouth, a look of horror crosses Matthew’s face. The last time he had seen you, you were fourteen years old. The Y/N he remembered was quiet and collected. Always had her head buried in a book at games and never really gave the boys the time of day because you were never interested in hockey when you were a young girl. But now you stood before him, a woman. You had dyed your hair, lost your baby face, got glasses and your style had done a 180. Standing in front of the two of you now, he didn’t realize how he could’ve missed the obvious resemblance between you and your brother.
Shyly you smile and say “It’s nice to see you again, Matthew.”
Still in shock he nods and says. “Still the same mini marnie for sure.”
After a bit more chatting Mitch decides it’s time for you guys to get dinner so you part Matthew with heartfelt goodbyes and ‘until we see each other again’.
Once you guys leave Matthew stays in place ordering himself an uber, thinking about what just happened. He feels a slight tap on his shoulder. Turing meets a not too happy Auston and he knows he’s in trouble. Going to apologize for stealing Austons stick he’s met with a very different topic.
“I’m just letting you know that Jake and I heard what you said to Y/N earlier and I want to remind you that she’s like a sister to all of us so you better watch yourself Tkachuk.” Matthew says nothing and simply nods because chirping Aus was dangerous territory especially when it involved family.
You were back at Mitche’s apartment after dinner to spend some time together. Or so he says, you knew he was just lonely because Steph was out of town. When he gets up to call her in between episodes of Brooklyn Nine Nine it gives you a chance to check your phone. There were a few tags on instagram and a handful of snapchats you’d answer in the morning but one notification stood out against the rest.

you’re all I want - f.andersen
a/n: bringing this back, one of my first Freddie writings that was totally inspired by this picture and the all stars in general. sorry that I haven’t written anything in a long while, I always get super busy for some reason, but hope you enjoy this one !!
warnings: insecure freddie.
You sat on the bench, looking up and watching as Freddie taped his stick.
He had asked if you wanted to attend the NHL All Star weekend and of course you weren’t going to turn him down, but what you hadn’t expected was for him to keep you at his side the entire time. When he was doing media; he had asked if you could stay behind the scenes, when he was meeting with all the other players; he was introducing you to them as well, and now when he finally got to the locker room where everyone was preparing for the skills competition; he asked if you could stay with him until it was time to get dressed.
You didn’t want to seem like the clingy girlfriend and also be the only girlfriend in the room, so you were about to turn it down and tell Fred that you could just go find his family and sit down with them as you waited, but after seeing a couple of other wives and girls go in, you decided to stay with Freddie.
And you’re kind of glad for that decision.
You watched as he bit his lip in concentration, his eyes focused solely on his stick. You took this time to take him all in; the way the hair on his face was slightly scruffy, his moustache shorter than his beard. You looked at his eyebrows and how they were scrunched together, causing the wrinkle in his forehead to cease more.
You watched his hands and how they worked, how much more bigger they were compared to yours but let’s be honest; everything about this man was much more bigger than you, and you smile at the fact that he’s yours.
Those thoughts don’t last long though, you’re knocked out of them by the calling of your name, and considering you only know two other people in this locker room, you know it’s either Mitch or Auston.
You turn your head and when you catch Mitch’s stare, he’s smiling and waving you over, “C’mere a sec!” You look back at Freddie and he softly smiles, gesturing to his teammate, “Go on then elskede.” Standing up, you walk up to the two boys, “What’s up?”
“Figured you were a little bored, you wanna help me tape my stick?” You merely nod and he hands you the piece of wood, “Just hold it there while I do the top...”
You watched carefully as he taped the top of his stick and you noticed that it was different from the way Fred does his, “Are all sticks different?” you find yourself asking, and Mitch raises his brow, “like taping?” he nods and bites off the end, smoothing it down with his thumb.
“I mean, some are the same way, like the top part, but most of the bottoms are different, especially with goalies, since their sticks are bigger and thicker.” You nod along at his words, “are players picky about their sticks, or is it any way every game?” he flips his stick and leans on it, “well, some players are really suspicious and try to get it right every time, but others; like myself, it doesn’t really matter.”
“here, you try.” he hands you the tape this time, and you shake your head, “No no, I don’t want to mess your stick up.” Mitch simply laughs, “Like I said Y/N, I'm not too picky, go ahead.” You hesitantly took the tape from his hands and he slowly shows you how to do it.
You’re on your last wrap around and Mitch gently smoothes it down, taking his stick back and inspecting it, “This is a great job Y/N.” You make a face, “You don't have to lie.” He laughs, “No really, this is great...” he turns around and taps Auston on the shoulder, “Hey Aus, look at Y/N’s tape job, it’s her first one.” Auston comes around and nods his head, “Hey look at that, that’s amazing.”
“Really?” You ask suspiciously and they nod their heads, “Yeah, here look, just ask the guys.” Auston tells you and brings a few of the other players over to take a look at it. Pretty soon, Jack Eichel, Travis Konecny, Mat Barzal, and Connor McDavid himself are all praising your work.
“That’s really great for a first time, might be better than all of ours.”
“Are you sure you did that and not Mitch?”
“Who knows, maybe she’s the one doing all of Mitch’s tape.”
“I’m not even that good.”
Mitch was happy his friends were playing along, if he was being honest, there were some lumps here and there and he knew that he would actually have to redo it, but he didn't want you to feel bad, especially after he told you it was fine no matter how you did it. He especially didn't want Fred to come after him for making you upset.
So, he watched as you smiled brightly at the praise, and eventually the conversation turned to the competition, you asking each of the guys which skill they were in and them asking more about you, telling you; any friend of Mitch is a friend of ours.
However, as you were talking with the younger guys, your boyfriend was on the other side of the room with a frown set on his face.
Freddie hated when he got this way, when he felt so, old.
He didn’t mind it at all when he saw you with guys you’re age, he’s not a controlling person, but there’s just something inside that makes him feel guilty, as if he's keeping you from living your life the way he thinks you should be.
Watching them all make you laugh, seeing how well you vibe with them and relate to them, the way he feels he can’t, makes him feel, dare he say it, insecure about his place in your life. You need someone who can converse with you like that, someone who's young, fun, and carefree. Fred’s too old to do the fortnite dances, too old to be speaking in ‘vine talk.’
I mean, he couldn’t even offer you to tape his stick, which would’ve been a young, fun thing to do. Instead, he did it himself because he was too superstitious that he wouldn’t play properly if anyone but him got his equipment ready. Something only the old guys do.
He’s so lost in his thoughts that he doesn’t notice you're staring and when he hears your footsteps coming toward him, he averts his eyes from the floor to his pads, trying to make it look like he wasn’t just doubting himself.
As soon as you saw his frown and the crease on his forehead, you knew something was bothering him and so you wished all the boys good luck and walked over, sitting beside him and grabbing hand, “You alright bub?” He nods and sits down, undoing all the straps and you place your hand on his cheek, turning his face to look at yours, “Bub, talk to me.” He stares at you for a second and sighs.
“I just, I'm sorry that I didn't ask if you wanted to tape my stick, I'm sorry if I didn’t notice that you were bored just sitting on the bench-” His words confuse you and you shake your head, causing him to stop, “Fred, I wasn’t bored, and I hadn’t meant to tape Mitch’s stick, he just offered. I’m fine with just watching you get your equipment ready, it’s yours anyway.” He’s still not buying it and you sigh, putting your hand on his knee, “What’s wrong?”
He shrugs, “Every time I see you around people your age, guys your age, I can't help but feel out of place, and it’s not that you can’t hang out with them but I always get this feeling of...” he trails off and you finish for him, “Guilt?” he nods but his eyebrows are furrowed and you huff a laugh, “I feel the same way too Freddie, whenever I see you with people your age, I always feel like I'm a little kid you have to watch over. But, at the end of the day, we have each other to remind ourselves of how much we love each other. I love you so much Fred, I could care less of how old you are. I could care less if you have a ten ‘o’ clock bedtime, if you only watch golf all day, and if you don’t find some memes funny. You’re amazing just the way you are, you’re all I want Freddie.”
He nods and leans in to place a kiss to your temple, “Thank you elskede, I love you too.” You smile and run your fingers through his hair, “I’m very lucky to have you.” He shakes his head and chuckles, “Darling I think I'm the lucky one.”
You both sit there as he finishes up with his equipment, glancing at each other and giggling when you catch the other’s eye. Soon after, it’s time for you to leave the room so you wish him luck, and whisper that you love him while connecting your lips.
Fred watches as you retreat down the hallway and Mitch comes up behind him, “You little sap.”

(in italics) and finally have the prompt that started it all! (in bold)
September 18, 2018
Austons P.O.V
“Aus?!” She yelled from her room. “Are you almost ready?”
I had been ready for 20 minutes and was sitting on our couch waiting for her to finish up. “Yeah I’m ready now!” I rolled up my sleeve to get a better look at my watch, “are you almost ready? It would look really bad if my plus one made us late.” I snicker as I heard her heels clack, the light to the hallway going off simultaneously.
I got up from the sofa as she entered, and boy, was I going to have to keep an eye on her tonight. She looked stunning. The light pink dress cinched her curves in all the right places, and her hair was in waves. She was like something out of a dream. She didn’t bat an eye as she went to the kitchen looking for the keys. I came up behind her and dangled them in her face, and before she could snatch them I pulled them away. She reached for them again but I held them behind my head, and suddenly she was all too close to my face. I glanced down at her lips, wanting to kiss them badly but then I quickly diverted back up to her eyes. “You look stunning (Y/N).”
I could feel her breath hitch against my own lips and the minty flavor of her gum hit my nose before she smiled genuinely, her signature smile where her lips tilted a little crooked at the corners, and it made my heart flutter. “Thanks Aus, you don’t look too bad yourself.”
She stepped away and we did a once over of our apartment, making sure we didn’t forget anything. I grinned and opened our front door for her, watching her walk as she went. I locked the door and we went down the hall towards the elevator, “just out of curiosity,” she toyed with a strand of her hair, eyes flicking up to me through long lashes, “how much did your suit cost?” She was smirking at me and I couldn’t resist really. “Wanna bet on it?” The elevator dinged for us to get on and she rolled her eyes, “do I even have a choice?”
“No use fighting at this point babydoll.” I flashed her my signature smirk as the floor indicator ticked down.
“Does that really work on girls?” She played.
“Apparently not on you.” I laughed but deep down I kinda hoped it did.
“It’s because I know you better than you know you.” She stated matter of factly. She did though. That was the scary part. We hit the first level and strolled out, before she added thoughtfully, “did you want it to work on me?”
I felt my cheeks flame, and was thankful she was walking slightly ahead of me, “uhh,” I faltered before gaining my confidence back, “depends on if you wanted it too.”
She stopped for a split second, giving me a chance to catch up before she continued walking, this time leaning into me a little bit, “maybe.”
My heart jumped at that, “Still wanna make that bet?” I opened the car door for her. She thanked me and I hopped in the drivers side.
“Am I betting high or low.” She gave me side eye as she buckled her seat belt and we were off.
“What do you think?” I grinned. There’s no way she gets this. “Do you know your suits? What brand am I even wearing?” I smiled.
I could feel her eyes on me as mine were on the road, and she reached over and ran her finger down the lapel of it, feeling the fabric. I tried to concentrate on the road but she was leaned over the console examining the details of my suit, looking for anything that would give away the designer or price. I needed to think fast, I could tell this would be a long night already and it hadn’t really even begun.
I swatted her hand away, “hey stop it! that’s cheating.” I smiled and looked over at her as we hit a light. She placed her palm flat against my chest as she mocked me, pulling her lower lip into a pout. I could feel my heartbeat pick up and surely she could too.
“Just seeing what I have to work with Aus.” The nickname melted off her tongue like butter and really I only like it when she says it anyway. The light flashed green and I grabbed her hand off my chest, entwining our fingers together and resting them over the middle console. “I’m betting high, what like $7,000? Is that too much for a suit? What is it Gucci? Aren’t you like their poster boy or something?”
I laughed at her accusations and she squeezed my hand a little too hard. “Ow! Jeez woman that hurt. Those are my money makers!”
She swatted at me again, “sorry not sorry. Isn’t like half your closet Gucci or something. I feel like I should know this but I’m really drawing a blank here.”
A smile crept up onto my face. She’s cute when she’s thinking too hard. She always over thinks or over-analyzes everything. It’s like it’s written in her DNA or something.
She looked over at me and I attempted to keep a straight face, “it’s Gucci isn’t it.” I nodded. “$7000 close?”
I kept a tight lip. She turned towards me, “it’s fuckin higher isn’t it!!!” Her voice raised towards the end and I burst out laughing.
“$10,000.” Her jaw dropped, “what do I get since you couldn’t guess it?”
“I can’t believe you spent $10,000 on a suit.” She was in awe, “that’s like a trip to Europe, or a down payment on a car, what are you psycho?”
“Are you really belittling me right now?” I chuckled, “you guessed $7,000 that’s just as high!!!”
“Yeah but-“
“But what? $7000 okay to drop but $10 is too much?” Her face went blank as she tried to process it and I howled as her eyebrows knit together. She was something else.
“I hate you.” She fought to keep the smile off her face.
“Your mouth says otherwise.” She covered her lips with her hands as we pulled up to the venue, she finally pulled them off as we valeted the car. And as we walked into the rustic barn I elbowed her a bit, grinning wildly, “seriously though, what’s my prize since you didn’t guess right?”
She linked our arms as we tried to figure out where we were sitting and smirked at me, “Bragging rights.”
“I bet we could make it a little more interesting.”
“Oh of course you bet huh.”
“You owe me a dance.”
She pouted. “Aus-“
“Nuh-Uh. We’re dancing later, it’s the least you can do.”
I can tell she wanted to press me further but instead she just nodded, “Okay.”
“Wow, I didn’t think that would be this easy. I need to win bets more often.” I knew how much she hated dancing. It was because she had two left feet and literally tripped over herself on any normal day. She didn’t like to embarrass herself. The truth was, she wasn’t a bad dancer at all. She could dance fine by herself, especially after a drink or two. But she was clumsy enough that partner dancing wasn’t really her thing. I always try to get her to at weddings and events but she doesn’t budge. She's stubborn as hell, but it’s why I love her. She doesn’t change for anyone. Not even me. I always ended up finding some random bridesmaid to dance with at these things, but tonight she was mine.
We wandered further into the barn stopping for a few pictures together before the ceremony as Paige snapped away on her phone and a film camera as well. Mitch and Steph found their way to us too and soon enough we had group pictures with the six of us, then guys, girls, and finally as we finished up it was about time to find our seats.
The Tavares wedding was really going to be something. Greenery was everywhere and there was a modern feel to their set up even with the more natural elements. I put a hand on (Y/N)’s lower back and guided her to our seats on the grooms side. We were in the middle back and slid into the refurbished white bench with ease, the rest of our group following suit, filing into the row after us. I wrapped an arm around the back of (Y/N)’s seat as she crossed her ankles, leaning into me while we waited for the ceremony to start. A comfortable silence settled over us and somehow both our free hands found each other on their own accord. Soon enough she was playing with my fingers, clasping and unclasping them, tracing the outline of my hand and holding our palms up to watch our hands align. It was something we had done plenty of times before. Whenever we got bored or were watching Netflix or at family events. It was inevitable that our hands would meet. Her hand was a lot smaller than mine, and we quietly played a game of thumb wars before the loud chattering settled down. I could hear the preacher say to rise, so I gently grabbed her hand in mine and lead her up. She was still leaning into me as we waited for the bride to make her way down the aisle.
John and Aryne chose to say their own vows although short and sweet. It was nice. Being here, celebrating them. (Y/N) was the perfect wedding date. She was classy and reserved when needed but could definitely open up and make conversation with anyone who approached her. And soooo many people approached her. Which was crazy because she was the plus one. But that’s just (Y/N), stealing everyone’s heart the way she stole mine.
It had to be obvious at this point. I thought my incessant flirting and annoying her every chance I got would be enough to give her the hint, but apparently not. I thought that living together was another sign that maybe I was kind of into her but she just took it at face value since it was the most logical option. I think I really realized how I've felt this past May. I mean, it was there all along, but I didn’t admit it to myself until then. She started hooking up with some random guy at college, and when I walked into some kid in our apartment it made my stomach lurch. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that sick in my life.
I had talked to her earlier in the day. We were on a long road trip in the west and I was excited to get back and see her.
It felt like maybe things had been changing between us lately, and I wanted to get back and test the waters a little just to see if she even felt a tiny bit the same. It was easy with her. I missed her like crazy, constantly texting to see what she was up to, and sending snapchat updates of what the boys and I were doing, just because I knew she would send a picture back and I could see that gorgeous face again.
Our flight was delayed because weather in Toronto was pretty bad. And we didn’t end up landing till pretty late. I texted her when we landed at 12 that I would be home soon. I never got a response so I figured she was asleep.
What I didn’t expect, when I came home at 1am on a Saturday, was some random guy going through the cupboards in our kitchen with just his boxers on.
“Uh who are you?” I had a sour taste in my mouth.
The guy looked up from his position on the floor, going through the bottom cabinets and I swear almost shit himself. “Oh my god you’re Auston Matthews.” I frowned. Oh jeez a hockey fan, how rare in this city! He shook his head in disbelief and stood up, walking over to me and put his hand out for me to shake. I took it, begrudgingly. “I’m Reese, it’s really nice to meet you, although I never thought it would be like this.”
I scoffed, but he didn’t seem to notice. He found (Y/N)’s post it notes on the kitchen island and pulled one off handing it to me, “do you think you could sign this for me?”
“What the hell is going on here? Reese I thought-” (Y/N) ‘s voice sounded a little groggy, like she might’ve been sleeping, but when she came out of her room, only clad in black lace underwear and a t-shirt I presumed to be his, my breath caught in my throat. One because she looked damn good. And two because she was wearing his clothes and practically nothing else. I felt a fire in my chest. I swallowed hard and tried to remain neutral.
When she finally realized I was home her eyes went wide. “Oh, uh, hey Aus.”
“(Y/N) you didn’t tell me your roommate was the Auston Matthews.” This guy was still here?
She uncomfortably glanced over at me. Yeah me too. “Uh roommate? Try best friend.” I said smugly.
“I didn't see a reason to bring it up.” She said. Ouch that hurt.
“Sorry Reese bro, but I’m gonna have to ask you to leave, I really need to get to bed and I’m sure your friend (Y/N) here can fill you in on all the dirty details later. Have a great night.” I walked past them and into my room, shutting the door. Trying to get ready for bed without my head exploding from everything that just happened. I waited until I could hear him leave before I went and knocked on her door.
“What Matthews?” I opened it slightly and peered in, leaning on the door frame and watching her fix her bedding a bit, now in another old t-shirt.
“Matthews huh? Can I come in?” She nodded and crawled under the white comforter patting the spot next to her. I sat down on top of it before rethinking this whole situation. “Actually can we go to my room?” I wasn’t really comfortable that they just fucked in here and wasn’t too keen on sitting in the bed that someone else got to touch her in.
She nodded and as I grabbed her hand, I felt tingles. I didn’t dare to look behind me as I lead her to my room. We crawled under the covers and sat against the headboard.
We stared up at the ceiling a bit before she turned to me. “You’re so dramatic.”
I looked over to her and I could tell she was slightly upset. “But I know that’s not exactly the most fun thing to come home to and I’m sorry.”
“S’okay. Were you ever gonna tell me you were kinda seeing someone?” My jealousy got the best of me, and I couldn’t help but let it seep into my voice a little as I ask.
“No not really, you never tell me when you do...So.” She shrugged, and I tilted my head back a little, groaning.
“You don’t tell people we’re friends either?” It sucked knowing that maybe she was ashamed of me for whatever reason. I always told everyone about her. I loved to talk about her and how proud I am of her for working hard in college and her internship which she officially secured, and just being the amazing, kind hearted person that she is.
“It’s different… I- I don’t tell strangers or people I just met or at least until I have a grasp on their personality. I stopped doing that a long time ago. I can never tell if they want to be friends with me, or have a relationship with me, for me or to get to you.”
“Oh.” It sucks, but it makes sense.
“Oh. Is right. Also I don’t want people to be up either of our asses if they're just clout chasers.” She smiled, shaking her head as I laughed, “Just not how I want to spend my time.”
I sighed, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to kick him out, that was just weird and I wasn’t expecting you to have company and-“
“Auston. It’s okay. I should’ve warned you in some way, or gone to his place. Maybe this whole thing could’ve been prevented. I’m the one who’s sorry. That situation was pretty awkward.” I don’t want her at some guys place. I want her with me.
I grabbed her hand and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. My stomach churning as I did so, “Stop worrying. Don’t be sorry either. We good?” She nodded and entwined our pinky’s. “Always.” And with that she slipped out of the darkness of my room and back down the hallway to hers. And my heart ached with every step.
Maybe I wasn’t doing enough, maybe I just needed to be upfront.
I took a swig of the beer I was drinking and set it back on the table as I watched her converse with Steph, Paige, and Aryne, Probably complementing the bride on her gown and the allure of the wedding.
Pretty soon we were eating steak, mashed potatoes and wedding cake, and my stomach was all too full when the bride and groom shared their first dance. I looked to (Y/N) to see her swooning at John and Aryne adoringly. She was facing the back of her chair, hands resting on the back of it, and chin resting on her hands. “Don’t you just love those two together?” Her nose crinkled. It was really cute.
I stood and held my hand out to her as other couples started to join in on the dance floor. She looked up to me, eyes slightly glazed from her glasses of champagne, but I knew she was at a good level. Sober enough to make good decisions, buzzed enough to have a good time. “Are you gonna dance with me?” My heart felt like it was racing as I waited for her answer.
She took my hand so I took it as a yes. I lead her out to the dance floor, Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran coming on as we stopped in the middle. She wrapped her arms around my neck and my hands settled on her waist, pulling her close. My stomach churned with nerves and a little bit of excitement. I looked down at her, her head on a swivel, looking everywhere but me. Other people are looking at us and her brow knit in confusion. Her hand was burning a hole where it was placed flat against my chest.
“What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” I touched her forehead lightly, then bringing my hand back down and wrapping it around her waist securely.
She looked back to me, eyes widening, “It’s nothing.”
“You know you can tell me anything right?” I tried, pulling her back into me as she slowly tried to pull herself away. “That’s what friends are for. And hey, quit trying to leave me!” I laugh, grinning. “Were kind of in the middle of that dance you owe me.”
She smiles back softly but glances around the room again, this time almost self consciously. “It’s just that… I don’t know- I don’t really know how to say it without sounding weird.”
“Are you okay? Is something wrong? You know nothing you say will ever sound weird to me? I’m pretty sure we’ve been through it all.” I leaned my forehead against hers and try to ease her mind but she seems so off. I don’t know what happened because everything seemed normal when we first got here.
She took a breath and pulled back a little looking right at me, “Everyone thinks we’re a couple.” I could see the nerves riddling her features and it made me curious as to why. It’s not what I was expecting, but it made me grin, “I know.”
“You know? It doesn’t bother you?” Her nose scrunched again.
“Should it? Does it bother you? I mean, personally I think I could do worse as far as fake lovers go, but…” She playfully shoved me and we fell right back into place, swaying as the song went on melodically.
“It really doesn’t bother you?” She seemed unsure, but avoided my question nonetheless, looking up at me as if the only answer I could give would be yes. That it does bother me. And that couldn’t be further from the truth.
I shrugged trying to play it cool, “why would it bother me?”
“I don’t know…” She looked away, back to the surrounding crowd as the song changed. “You’re Auston Matthews.” She huffed. “You can get any girl you want. Wouldn’t people believing that… we’re an item… wouldn’t that get in the way?”
I grabbed her hands in mine, looking down at them. She instinctively clasped them together and my heart warmed as I glanced back up at her. “That’s just the thing.” We had stopped dancing at this point, and I’m pretty sure we were in the way of people trying to dance, but I didn’t mind. “You don’t see me as the Auston Matthews. You never did. You just see me as Auston Matthews, your extremely good looking and talented best friend.” I smirked.
“Way to ruin it.” She laughed.
I gently pulled her closer, “you see me as the dumb kid who broke his arm at your eighth birthday party, and the horrible friend who spilled punch on your prom dress, and the annoying son of bitch who always tries to force you to dance. You never see me as someone who’s untouchable,” I grab her hand and place it over my heart, “you always touch me.” She looked as if she lost her breath, eyes swirling with emotions. She carefully removed the hand that was over my heart and stood still for a second. She looked back up to me meticulously, “let’s get some air yeah?” I let my hand rest on the small of her back and nodded as she lead the way out, one step ahead of me. My heart was pounding in my chest.
I couldn’t be more grateful for the little piece of privacy that we had out here. The air had turned slightly cooler, and I could see her shiver a little, although she would never admit she’s cold. I shrugged my suit jacket off anyway as we walked along the outside of the barn. The sun was starting to go down and the chill in the air picked up. I wrapped my jacket around her shoulders, and used it to pull her in closer to me.
She muttered a thanks and I sucked in a breath. Now or never Matt’s.
But she turned to me sharply, beating me to the punch, “you can’t just say stuff like that you know?”
“Why not?” Her eyes met mine and the wary look on her face told me what I needed to know. I know what she’s thinking. And she means more to me than anyone. She must know that. She has too.
“You could never get in the way of anything (Y/N).” I tucked a lone strand of hair behind her ear as her eyes sparkled and flickered up to mine. “It doesn’t bother me because I don’t want just any girl.” I toe around the subject, hoping she can figure it out before I have to say it outright.
“Well, what do you want Aus?” I want you. Don’t make me say it. Don’t make me ruin a good thing (Y/N). I don’t want to lose us.
My eyes flicker down to her lips. I close my eyes and lean in a little, nudging her nose with my own. Slowly but surely closing the gap between us. I could feel the electricity radiating off her, our lips barely touching before I heard a voice coming from the door. We broke apart, wide eyed, hearts racing, both looking to see who joined us outside.
Kappy looked drunk. And Paige looked like she was dying from laughter. They spotted us and made their way over. I looked back at (Y/N), her cheeks flushed and managing to look anywhere but me, although my arm was still wrapped around her. She leaned into my touch as they approached.
“Youuuuu guyssss.” Kap slurred and Paige just seemed to notice the position we were in.
“Uh Kappy needed some air, but I see you guys did too.” She grabbed his hand and tried to lean him into her for leverage. “We’ll just let you guys have some privacy.”
(Y/N) turned her face into my shoulder as Paige tried to shove Kappy back into the reception. I looked down to her and laughed. She did too, bringing her face out of my shoulder. I would’ve tried to recreate the moment but it seemed like it was lost as she grabbed my hand and tugged me back inside. “C’mon Aus, we should get back.” And I had no choice but to follow.

Chance Meetings- Morgan Rielly Story Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Work count: 3.6 K
New Years Eve
Every single day since Morgan posted that picture of us I have been receiving messages from some of Morgan’s fans. I would wake up to messages and I would fall asleep to messages judging me. I never expected that when Morgan announced our relationship to the world that I have received a mixed bag of reactions from the fans. I had always heard from the other significant others about the negative messages they received but I never though that I would be on the receiving end of them.
I guess I was naive to believe that everyone would be happy for the two of us but I was now learning that it’s almost like a rite of passage when you are with an athlete. Some of them were encouraging, while others were very rude and demeaning. Saying that Morgan deserved better than me and that I didn’t fit the profile or stereotype of what a Hockey player should be dating.
According to them I needed to be skinny, blonde, and a model. That’s not to say that I didn’t get encouraging messages from the true fans, saying they were glad that I didn’t fall under the typical hockey players girlfriend stereotype and that Morgan looked truly happy with me.
I brushed the negativity aside, and didn’t let it affect me because I knew that they were just jealous. I wasn’t going to let a couple jealous fans get inside my head or affect my relationship with Morgan. I was a lot stronger than most people believed and I all knew was that I was not going to let anything get in the way of Mine and Morgan’s relationship or happiness.
I ended up talking to Lucy, Aryne, and Steph about the messages when we went shopping for our New Years Eve outfits. They explained that every significant other has received the same treatment one way or another throughout the years and they gave me some really good advice on how to handle the situation.
Morgan called us an Uber and we were on our way to the hotel to get ready for the New Years Eve party hosted by the maple leafs organization in the ballroom at the Royal York. The place that has significant meaning for Morgan and I seeing as it was at the Royal York where we first met. Morgan rented us a room in the hotel that way we could enjoy the night without worrying about getting back to his house.
When we walked into the lobby of the hotel we were greeted by smiles and friendly staff. Morgan smiled at me as he squeezed my hand guiding me over to the front desk.
“Welcome to the Royal York, Mr. and Mrs. Rielly. We have your room ready.” Smiled the older man as he typed on his computer.
Morgan gave me hand a squeeze three times as soon as he called us husband and wife, a sign that Morgan was okay with what had just happened seeing as that was or sign for I love you. But I’m sure my cheeks went red as soon as she called me Mrs. Rielly.
The lady handed us our hotel key and Morgan placed his hand on my back once more and let me towards the elevator whispering, “Right this way Mrs. Rielly.”
“Thank you Mr. Rielly!” I teased as we stepped into the elevator. Morgan quickly pressed the 44thfloor button and attached our hands once more.
Once in the room we placed our bags on the table and started getting ready for the party. We took turns taking showers because we both knew that if we tried to shower together it would result in a couple rounds of shower sex. And as much as we both really wanted that to happen we both knew we didn’t have enough time to do that as well as get ready for the party.
I looked in the mirror as I was putting the finishing touches on my make up. I smacked my lips together after putting on a coat of nude lips stick and smiled into the mirror. I sprayed some hairspray into my loose curls and make my way into Morgan’s bedroom to grab my outfit for the night.
Morgan had just walked out of the bathroom his towel hanging low on his hips. Water droplets slowly running down his chest, hair spiked up from him running the towel through it.
I bit my lip teasingly as I walked passed him wearing only my matching lace bra and underwear set. I felt his arms wrap around my waist as he pulled me into his body.
“Morgan, you’re getting me all wet.” I giggled as I struggled to get out of his strong embrace.
“Well, I hope I always make you wet,” Joked Morgan as he winked at me.
I shook my head laughing before kissing his lips and escaping his arms.
I walked over to Morgan’s bed and grabbed my red top crop top I had placed on his covers, pulling it over my black lace bra. I then pulled my high waisted red skirt over my hipsbefore stepping into my beige high-heeled shoes.
I heard Morgan whistle from behind so I spun around and gave him a pose before walking towards him and kissing his lips gently being careful to not get his lips covered in my lipstick.
Morgan was wearing black dress pants, a white dress shirt and a red tie with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
“You look so handsome,” I whispered before kissing his lips once more.
Morgan grabbed my hand, and laced them with his before walking me towards the door, holding it open for me.
Walking to the elevator, we pushed the ballroom button on the panel making our way to the ballroom.
Walking into the ballroom it looked similar to when we were here for the season ticketholder event in September. The only difference being it was winter wonderland themed, they had fairy lights all over the room, fake snow covering the room.
As soon as we walked into the ballroom, I could see Steph beckoning me over to where she was getting drinks.
“I will see you right at 11:59pm for my midnight kiss,” I teased Morgan as I slowly walked away. Making sure to sway my hips, as I knew Morgan eyes would be glued to me like a hawk catching his prey. I mean A little teasing never killed anyone right?
“Really hails?” Joked Morgan as he shook his head. Jake waving him over to where he, John and Freddie were about to start a game of beer pong.
Once I got to Steph I saw that she had ordered us some tequila shots “Cheers, to 2019 ladies! This is going to be an amazing year with even more amazing friends.”
Lucy and Christina joined in as well as a couple more Lady Leafs. We all raised our glasses and lifted them to our lips, tipping our heads back as the liqueur slid down our throats.
“I still don’t understand How that is your favourite shot? It’s so disgusting.” Teased Lucy as she shook her head, reaching for her wine to chase the taste of tequila.
“Haha Katie tells me I’m like Meredith Grey.” I replied as I laughed.
“Haha because you love tequila?” Joked Steph
“Haha that! And apparently because I’m dark and twisty,” I joked.
“God, I love you,” Lucy said as both her and Steph started giggling.
Before I knew it I was in the middle of a group hug. Steph and Lucy both squeezing tight, as Aryne joined in.
“I am so glad we have become best friends. We are all so lucky, but I think Morgan will say he is the luckiest.” Lucy said as she blew me a kiss.
“Cheers to that.” Steph said as she turned to face the bartender again to order another round of shots, this time a round of Jell-O shots as well as the shot called screaming Orgasm.
“Hopefully we all will have screaming Orgasms tonight... and not just the shot.” Joked Steph as we said cheers’ and downed the shot.
I stood by the bar talking with the other ladies, as we caught up on everyone’s Christmas. I kept locking eyes with Morgan from across the room as he was talking with Jake, John Freddie, Mitch and Auston.
I turned towards the bartender and ordered a vodka and cranberry juice. Locking eyes with Morgan who had just won the game of beer pong against Jake and Freddie. Aryne looped arms with me as we made our way over to where he was standing.
“Hails, and I will play you guys next.” Aryne said as we got to the table.
“But you can’t drink, your pregnant babe.” John said as he smiled, looking at Aryne as if she was the only one in the room.
“What? You scared we are going to win?” Questioned Aryne as she looked between both her husband and I smirking.
“I really don’t think that will be an issue, seeing as we are going to kick your butts. But I will take one for the team and drink for both me and her if it comes to it.” I chirped as I high fived Aryne who was laughing both Morgan’s and Johns reaction.
John looked at Morgan and whispered “it looks like you may be having to take care of her tonight, from all the extra alcohol she is about to consume.”
Morgan shook his head laughing as he locked eyes with me and winked at my direction.
Aryne and I made a good team as we both sank our shots one by one. But seeing as John and Morgan were teammates on the ice they also made good teammates off the ice as well.
The game was tied, both teams having one cup left. I was definitely feeling loose from the shots and the extras drinks from the game. Morgan’s and I locked eyes as we both threw the balls at the same time.
I held my breath as my ball circled the rim of the red solo cup before falling into the cup. Morgan’s call hit the rim at the same time; lucky for us his bounced out.
“Woohoo,” shouted Aryne as she pulled me into a big hug being careful of Aryne’s mini baby bump.
“Girls rule,” shouted both Lucy and Steph as they joined the hug.
Morgan shook his head pretending to be mad. However I was pretty sure that since he lost to his girlfriend that he would be on the receiving end of the boys chirping him
He grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug whispering, “you know I let you win right?” before kissing my lips slowly.
Giggling I replied, “whatever helps you sleep at night babe.”
“You help me sleep at night, when I have you wrapped in my arms, your little snores” Morgan whispered as he kissed my neck.
“your lying,” I gasp as I hit Morgan’s arm lightly “I know for a fact that I do not snore.”
Laughing Morgan replies, “I know you don’t, I was teasing. However you do talk in your sleep and it’s the cutest thing ever.”
A blush started to form at Morgan’s confession as he put his arm on my back softly guiding me to a table beside the dance floor. Once sitting down Morgan lifted his glass of wine towards me as we clinked our drinks together.
“To our first New Years Eve as a couple.”
We both took a sip of our wine before he wrapped his arm around the top of my chair as I leaned back into his embrace. Jake was sitting beside Morgan telling me a story about Morgan’s first couple years in the league, and all the mischief they got into as Roommates. Lucy would cut in throughout the story adding her own comments about what she witnessed the boys’ do, when she stayed with them when she visited Jake.
Last year for New Years Eve, I spent it curled up on my couch, wearing my pajamas, eating take out. This year was already so different; I was definitely drunker than I was last year that’s for sure.
From the way Morgan looked in my eyes, I could tell that he was making sure he was not going to crazy with the alcohol, so that he could take care of me if needed. The same thing could not be said about me, it was only 10:30pm and I have already done at least three shots and drank endless amounts of mixed drinks,
It was nice to have the chance to let loose and enjoy myself with the girls, knowing that Morgan wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me. Growing up I was what you would call a goody two shoes, always followed the rules, and never got drunk, I even was dubbed the mother of the group when going out with friends. I was always the responsible one in the group, always making sure everyone was okay.
Since meeting Morgan, I’ve finally given myself the okay to let myself go, to have fun, and to not get in my head and think to much. I was always the responsible one when I went out with friends; I would be the one taking care of everyone making sure everyone was being safe. However tonight the roles were reversed and I was having the time of my life with Morgan and our friends. I trusted Morgan, the girls as well as his teammates 100 percent and I knew that they wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me.
The night was going amazing, and I was having so much fun with my new best friends. It was hard to believe I had just met them a couple months ago, and I was now ringing in the New Year with a group of new best friends. If you would have told me a year ago that I would be sitting beside my professional hockey playing boyfriend, and ringing in the new year with his teammates and their significant others I would have thought you were crazy. It’s funny how fast, things change and how people become such an important part of your life in such a short time.
It was moments like this, moments when I’m sitting in his lap with his arms wrapped around me, my head tucked into his shoulder as I leaned into his embrace where I truly felt like I belonged. A permanent smile on my face as I watch the people around me having such as good time. It’s true what they say about hockey families, they truly become your family. The people you lean on in good times and bad. The people you go to when you need support, especially the women. No one understands the lifestyle better than them, they are the ones you lean on when who are always thereyou need support no matter what.
He locked eyes with me as he slowly leaned down to kiss my lips. Just as our lips were about to connect Steph came over and grabbed my arm.
“Hails, Lucy, Aryne we need to take some photos together. I hear they have another photo booth.” She exclaimed as she grabbed my hand and pulled so that I was standing.
After the photos with both the girls as well as Morgan were taken Lucy and I walked up to bartender and ordered the carnival cruiser drink. While we were sitting at the table, she mentioned that when her and Jake went on a cruise one year that the bartender on the cruise made her the best drink.
Lucy explained the drink to the bartender, and he made us the drinks.
The drink was good but deadly, since it had 4 ounces of alcohol. The problem was that the pineapple juice and the fruit punch that was mixed with the alcohol masked the potent taste of the alcohol. Which resulted in Lucy and I drinking two very quickly before heading out to the dance floor.
The DJ started playing the song ‘don’t you know your beautiful’ by one direction and my eyes instantly lit up.
“Hailey! It’s our song!” Exclaimed Lucy as she grabbed my hand and pulled both Steph and I to the dance floor.
We laughed and jumped around the dance floor as we sang the lyrics at the top of our lungs.
We barely had time to catch our breaths from jumping around when the music from the iconic dirty dancing movie started playing. I’m not sure if it was the drinks talking or just plain stupidity, but as soon as we heard the song, both Lucy and I shared a look. That look however resulted in me running towards Lucy who had her arms ready to lift me for the iconic lift scene. We were going to do it; we were going to attempt to do the dirty dancing lift, key word being attempt.
As you could imagine, it was a disaster waiting to happen, both of us were extremely drunk, and obviously hadn’t thought about what would happen in the lift didn’t work.
Resulting in both of us laying on the ground, myself laying on top of Lucy as we both burst out in giggles.
“It’s so comfy down here,” slurred Lucy as she grabbed my arm and held on to it, giggling some more.
“Love you bestie,” I slurred back as I started giggling as well.
“Doggy pile!” Shouted Steph as she jumped on both of us.
I looked up from my position on the ground, to see that Morgan was standing above us shaking his head as he laughed.
“I can only imagine what they get up to when we are on the road,” Muttered Morgan to Jake as they both reached down to pick us up from the floor.
“They are crazy together, they both bring out a side in each other that no one has ever seen.” Jake replied as he shook his head grinning.
“That’s because, we are best friend, No SOUL MATES!” exclaimed Lucy as she threw her arms around me once we were standing up, causing us to wobble a bit. Morgan quickly threw his arm around me to steady us both, so that we did not end up on the ground again.
Morgan shook his head as he pulled me closer into his arms, leaning down to kiss my forward. “You okay?”
“I’m more than okay MoMo, I haven’t had this much fun in a while.”
As we were standing there in each other’s arms, I could hear the song “yours.” By Russell Dickerson started to play.
Morgan pulled me even closer than I thought possible as we swayed to the beat as Morgan sang the words into my ear. Once the song was over he kissed me on the lips and it felt like fireworks were going off in my body. There were so many unknowns about our life together but it was in this moment that I realized that Morgan was my home, no matter what happens or where in the world we are as long as I had Morgan by my side I would be home.
I was lost in Morgan’s eyes as we swayed to the music. We could faintly hear the countdown to Midnight as we continued to be lost in each other’s presents.
A waiter was walking by with champagne flutes so Morgan grabbed two for us.
“Follow me,” he whispered as he grabbed my hand and led me over to the balcony.
We stepped into the cold winter air as we could hear everyone on the streets bellow us celebrate.
Morgan wrapped his arm around me as he pulled me in close as we swayed in each other’s arms. We could faintly hear the countdown in the ballroom as we enjoyed the moment of it just being the two of us. Morgan whispering, “three, two, one… Happy new years my love.” Before placing his hands on my cheeks and pulling my head towards his as he softly kissing my lips.
Both of us pulling away from the kiss smiling, “Happy New Year Babe.”
“Hailey, I love you so much. Meeting you and having you in my life is one of the best things that has happened to me in 2018. I am not sure what kind of adventures we will get up to in 2019, but I do know that as long as you are by my side it will be memorable.”
“Too an unforgettable year with my love.” I said as I raised my champagne glass.
Morgan raised his as well as we clinked our glasses together before taking a sip.
We stood outside in the freezing cold weather for a couple more minutes. I was in the comforts of Morgan’s warm body as we watched the fireworks go off with the CN tower in the background.
“as much as I would like to stay out here with you for the rest of the evening, I think we may freeze.” Morgan stated as he kissed my lips once more.
“Wait? I though you would be used to the cold.” I teased as I bit his lip seductively.
“That’s it!” exclaimed Morgan as he picked me up and carried me back into the ballroom.
Once we were back into the ballroom Morgan placed me back on my feet before joining our hands together once more. “We will say goodbye to our friends then head up to the room. Honestly I just want to lie in bed with you in my arms. It will be the perfect ending to a perfect night.”
“There is no other way I would like to start off the new year,” I muttered as I kissed his lips.

Dreams do come true
This is my first ever story, so please be patient and gentle. I’ve been reading NHL imagines for a little while now and wanted to give it a try.
Y/B/N and Y/O/B/N are your two brothers. Y/BF/N is your best friend.
Summary: You are working at the restaurant you work at in the summer and Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner come in for dinner.
Warning: Swearing
PS. I’m planning on having multiple parts to this. But I guess we’ll see where my writing takes me!
Auston’s POV
Mitch and I were vacationing in Vermont during the summer. We had just been driving around looking for stuff to do. We came across a small town and decided to stop and walk around. It was close to dinner time and we were both hungry so we decided to look for something to eat. We had just walked up from seeing some falls they had in town, and the first restaurant we came across piqued my interest because of a beautiful waitress working. I immediately grabbed Mitch and walked to the door. We walked in and were welcomed by this bright southern accent.
“Hi, what can I do for ya’ll?”
“We would just like a table for two if you have room?” I said
“Of course, would you like to sit inside or outside?” I looked over to Mitch and he shrugged.
“Outside would be nice.”
“Alright, you can follow me.”
“Um, is it possible to request a waitress?”
“Well that depends, are you asking for the cute little one over there?” The southern lady asked with a smirk as she pointed towards the girl you saw outside the restaurant.
I blushed before nodding, “if that’s possible yes”
“Well, I suppose I can make that happen for you,” she said with a smile.
“Thank you, ma’am.”
She brought us to our table and told us that our waitress would be with us in a minute.
(Y/N’s) POV
Holy fuck, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner just walked in. What the fuck, am I dreaming?? I have to tell (Y/B/N), he’s gonna flip. You really need to calm down, make yourself look busy.
I started to fold some napkins while Lady brought them outside to their table. The next thing I knew Lady came back in a with a huge smirk on her face and came right up to me.
“They requested you as their server, miss missy.”
“Shut up, I can’t serve them!! Do you know who they are?”
“No, who are they?”
“They play in the NHL!!!”
“Omg, and they want you?”
“Oh, shut up. There’s no way I can serve them.”
“Oh, you are. I promised him.”
“Who’s him? Which one?”
“The taller one.”
“Omg, he’s the one I am so in love with!!”
“Well here is your chance. Now go get their drink order.”
“I can’t believe I’m doing this right now.”
I walked out while mentally preparing myself and practicing exactly what I was going to say to them. As I walked out I made eye contact with Auston and I immediately blushed. He gave me a small smile and I reciprocated before approaching their table.
“Hi, my name is Y/N, how are you guys doing today?”
“Pretty good, how are you?” Mitch answered for both of them.
“I’m doing well, thank you for asking. Um, can I get you guys something to drink besides water?”
“What do you have for beer?” Auston inquired.
“We have Switchback, which is an unfiltered ale, Conehead IPA, and a Hefeweizen.”
“Which do you recommend?” He asked.
“Ummm, I really like the Hefeweizen, but the IPA is also pretty good. And switchback is a good go-to beer. Sorry, that probably wasn’t that helpful, I can bring you tastes if you’d like.” I said blushing, realizing I wasn’t being helpful.
“Haha, that’s okay. That would be great, Mitchy do you want to try them?” Auston asked his friend.
“Yeah sure, can we try all three?” Mitch asked.
“Yeah of course! I’ll be right back.” I said while walking away mentally kicking myself for being so awkward.
I quickly returned and presented the beer and waited while they tried the beer. They both made a few comments before finally choosing one.
“I’ll have the Hefeweizen,” Auston stated with a smirk.
“And I’ll have the Switchback, please,” Mitch said also with a smile.
“Perfect, I will be right back,” I said while smiling and taking the glasses.
I brought their beer to the table and talked for a minute about what they wanted to order. They finally decided on what they wanted and I went in to put the order in. As soon as I walked into the kitchen, everyone started ragging on me.
“How’s your boyfriend doing?” Chloe one of the chefs asked me.
“Fuck off, here’s the order,” I said with a smirk and walked back out before they could make fun of me more.
Once their food was in the window I ran it out to them and asked if they needed anything else. They both politely declined and said thank you for the food. I went back inside to start doing some clean up since it was winding down. After a few minutes, they were the only people left eating. I decided I should go check on them to see if they were still good.
Auston’s POV
I saw Y/N approaching our table and I tried to muster up the confidence to ask her to stay and talk with us for a little bit.
“How is everything out here?” She asked with the most beautiful smile.
“Very good,” Mitch stated while stuffing his face.
I chuckled slightly before responding, “pretty good, it would be a little better if you could sit with us for a little?” I asked feeling very hopeful.
Y/N looked a little shocked, but looked inside and then back to me, “I could probably spare a few minutes.” She said with that same beautiful smile. She pulled up a chair and made some small talk asking how our food was and asked what we were doing in Vermont. We explained to her that we were just taking a mini vacation.
“What made you choose Vermont?” She inquired
“We both had never been here and we heard it was nice here so we decided to give it a try.”
“Oh nice, how long have you been here?”
“We just got here today and we’re staying until Sunday.”
“Do you have anything planned for your trip?”
“Erm, not really, we were just going to kind of wing it. Do you have any suggestions?” Mitch finally stepped in.
“Umm, well there is really nice hiking, hanging out on the lake is fun, going to the Ben and Jerry’s factory is a must…”
“Would you be able to show us around a little?” I asked hoping I could hang out with her a little more.
“I think I could arrange that.” She smirked.
“Perfect, do you live around here?”
“I actually live in Burlington.”
“Oh, perfect, that’s where we are staying!” Mitch exclaimed.
Y/N laughed a little, and it was the cutest laugh I have ever heard.
“Where are you guys staying?” She asked
“Hotel Vermont.”
“Ohh nice. That’s a good one.”
“Good to know,” I said staring into her eyes. “Um, when do you usually get out?”
“It depends on how late people stay, you guys are the last ones so it shouldn’t be too long after you guys have finished.”
“You should come by the hotel when you get back to Burlington and we can figure out tomorrow.”
Y/N smiled, “yeah that sounds good.” “Can I have your number? And I’ll text you the room number.” I asked.
“Oh yeah, sure,” She said while I handed her my phone and she put her number in.
She grabbed our plates and brought our check. We paid and said our goodbyes until later. As soon as we left Mitch started laughing.
“Dude, you are so in love.”
“Shut up, Mitchy. I just think she seems really nice and genuine.”
“Exactly. You don’t think of girls that way.”
“Shut up,” I said while shoving him away from me.
Y/N’s POV
I walked into the kitchen and immediately gloated to everyone.
“OMG, he asked for my number and I am going to their hotel tonight, so let’s get the show on the road so I can leave.”
“You are such a slore!!!” Lady yelled at me.
I just laughed and texted Y/B/N to tell him all about Auston Matthews.
I asked Y/B/N and Y/O/B/N if they thought our grandfather would let us take his boat for part of the day, and Y/B/N said he was taking it out and that we could go with them.
I started the drive to Burlington and got a text from Auston.
Hey Y/N, it’s Auston :) We are in room 324 when you get here.
I waited a few minutes so I wouldn’t seem desperate and then responded.
Okay, I’ll probably be there in like 45 minutes if that’s okay?
A few minutes later I heard another ding.
That’s perfect! See you soon :)
Auston’s POV
Mitch and I were sitting in the room drinking beer and watching the TV when we heard a knock on the door. I got up and opened the door to find Y/N outside with a 6 pack of beer. She had changed from her work clothes and had put on a pretty sundress. I smiled as I stepped aside motioning for her to come in.
“I brought you guys some more Vermont beer to try.”
“I think you and I are gonna get along just fine,” Mitch said with a smirk.
Y/N and I both laughed at Mitch and I told Y/N to take a seat.
We all talked for a while just getting to know each other. We finally decided to talk about our plans for tomorrow. Y/N mentioned we could go on her grandfather’s boat with her brothers. Mitch and I jumped at that idea.
“Perfect! There is a really good bakery we can get sandwiches from and we can get some beer and spend the day on the lake!” Y/N suggested.
“That sounds wonderful,” I said
“Well now that we have that figured out I should probably get going, it’s pretty late.” Y/N said smiling.
“I’ll walk you down,” I said standing up with her.
“See ya tomorrow, Y/N” Mitch called out to her as she waved goodbye to him.
We were making our way to the elevator and I looked over to her.
“I’m really glad we met you today,” I said quietly.
“I’m really glad I met you too,” She said blushing.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know you a little better.”
“Me too,” she said softly.
As we made our way to the lobby I walked with her outside, I gave her a kiss on the cheek and waved goodbye as she walked down the street.
I made my way back upstairs to get ready for tomorrow.
Y/N’s POV
Omg I can’t believe he kissed my cheek!!! I can’t believe I’m spending the day with him tomorrow!!!! This is crazy. I thought to myself as I walked back to my apartment.
As soon as I walked in Y/BF/N was at the table drinking a beer.
“Y/BF/N. You will never guess what happened to me.” “What happened? Why are you so late?”
“I met Auston Matthews. Like the Auston Matthews who plays in the NHL that I love soooo much.” “WHAT? Where????”
“He came into the Sheep with his friend and then invited me over for a drink and now we’re hanging out tomorrow.”
“Holy shit, Y/N!!! This is it!!!”
“I know!! And he kissed me on the cheek when I left just now!!!”
“OMG!!!”
“I literally can’t wait for tomorrow.” “What are you doing?”
“We are going out on the boat, but Y/B/N and Y/O/B/N will be there too. Which is fine, cause his friend Mitch is gonna be with us anyway.”
“Yeah, just make sure you get some alone too ;)”
“Oh, I hope so…”
Auston’s POV
I woke up and decided to text Y/N to see what time she wanted to meet up.
Good morning :)
Good morning, Auston :)
How’d you sleep?
Pretty good, how about you?
Good, I’m kind of used to hotel beds.
Well, that’s good! What time do you think you guys will be ready?
We’re both up now, we were gonna ask what time you wanted to go?
I was thinking noon?
Yeah, that’s perfect, where should we meet you?
There’s this bakery on your way to Vergennes, I thought we could get sandwiches there before we go? I’ll meet you there
Sounds good, just send me the address :)
Y/N’s POV
I still can’t believe I’m hanging out with Auston Matthews. This is unreal. After we got sandwiches, I had them follow me to my grandfather’s marina where we were meeting my brothers.
We pulled up and my brothers were standing out on the dock. Auston and Mitch came over to my car and we grabbed all the bags and coolers and walked down to the boat.
“What’s up, wanks? This is Auston and Mitch, and these are my brothers, Y/B/N and Y/O/B/N.”
“Hey guys, how’s it going?” Auston said shaking their hands
“Pretty good, it’s nice to meet you,” Y/B/N responded shaking both of their hands.
“Well let’s get going!!” I said pushing everyone along.
NHLNHLNHL
After a long day on the water, we all went to dinner at Starry Night. It was really nice getting to know them a little better and I’m glad my brothers could come along because Auston was Y/O/B/N’s favorite NHL player.
After dinner, we went back to Burlington and this time they came over to my place.
“So, it’s no penthouse suite…which I’m sure you’re used to.” I said as I keyed into the apartment.
“I’m sure it’s lovely!” Mitch said with a smirk.
“Also, sorry, it’s a little messy too.”
“It’s perfect,” Auston said with a grin.
“What do you guys want to drink?” I asked heading into the kitchen.
“I’m good with beer,” Mitch said.
“Me too,” Auston chimed in.
I grabbed two beers from the fridge and poured myself a glass of wine. Auston came up behind me and grabbed the beers and followed me into the living room where we all sat down.
“Thank you so much for hanging out with us, Y/N. It has been so much fun.” Mitch said with a smile.
“Of course! It’s been fun showing you what we do here in Vermont. Even if it’s not that much, haha.”
“What are you doing tomorrow?” Auston asked.
“I think I could pencil you in if that’s what you’re asking?” I said back a little cheekily.
“We would love that,” Auston said looking over to Mitch. Mitch nodded in agreement.
“Do you guys like ice cream?” I asked.
“is that even a question???” Mitch asked, almost seeming offended.
“Good. We can go to the Ben and Jerry’s factory. It’s not super exciting, the tour isn’t very long, but you get free samples.”
“Oh I’m so down,” Mitch said.
“Me too,” Auston agreed.
We watched some Netflix and talked for about another hour when Mitch said he was heading back to the hotel to get some sleep. He patted Auston’s back and gave him a wink, that made me blush a bit.
“See ya tomorrow, Y/N,” Mitch said with a wink.
I waved goodbye and turned back to Auston.
“I’m not gonna lie, I’m glad to have some alone time with you,” Auston said.
I blushed and gave him a small smile. We were seated next to each other on the couch, and he put his hand on my knee.
I had so many butterflies, I could not believe this was real. We kind of just stared at each other for a moment, and he started laughing.
“I’m sorry, this is a little unusual for me,” he managed to get out in between laughs.
I couldn’t help but laugh too, “it’s okay, this is a little different for me too.”
All of a sudden, he plants his lips on mine. I was surprised at first but then allowed myself to melt into his lips. We made out for a few more minutes before we finally pulled away.
“God, you’re amazing.” He said looking into my eyes.
“Thank you,” I said while blushing and looking away.
“Let’s play 20 questions.” He suggested.
I groaned internally a bit but let him proceed. “Okay, …you have to ask the questions.”
“Okay……what’s your favorite color?” He asked.
“Yellow,” I answered quickly
“Yellow…really?” He questioned with a grin.
“Oh stop…you can’t judge during this game.” I said giving him a slight shove.
“Okay fine. Next question…what is your favorite food?”
“That one tough, I’m terrible at making decisions….my favorite, like, type of food is Chinese, but my favorite snacky type thing would be…. pickles or nachos.”
“Interesting….okay what did you want to be when you grow up?”
“Definitely a singer or actress.”
“Very original…”
“I said no judging!!!” giving him another soft push.
“I’m sorry, next question. What does your name mean?” He said while giggling.
“I don’t really know the meaning, but I was named after a friend of my dads who died in a car accident…sorry kind of depressing haha.”
“Yeah, things are deep now…” “Once I found out that’s who I was named after, I was afraid her ghost was going to be at the end of my bed while I was sleeping and try to kill me for having her name.”
“Wooow.” He said trying not to laugh.
“Okay, I was young!!!”
“Fair enough…if you could live anywhere, where would it be?”
“Greece for sure.” “Greece…really?! Where about?”
“Well, I’ve only been to Santorini. But it was soooo beautiful, I am going to get married there and have a house there.”
“Wow...high class lifestyle right there…” He said with a smirk.
“Very,” I said trying not to laugh.
“What is the most embarrassing moment of your life?” He said with a very cheeky grin.
“Oh my gosh, you’re really going for it aren’t you…honestly I can’t think of a defining embarrassing moment, but in one of my classes my sophomore year, I was surrounded by guys and a couple of them were on the hockey team, and we had to get together to discuss some topic, but I didn’t know any of them so I just kind of sat there, and our teacher called them out for not including me, and I was mortified. I was so worried they were going to think I was weird.”
“So…you’re into hockey players?”
“Really? That’s what you got out of my story??”
“Hahaha, I’m sorry, I’m just glad to hear that.”
I rolled my eyes with a smirk... “next question please.”
“Who is your best friend in the whole wide world?”
“Y/BF/N.”
“Okay, what is your biggest fear in life?”
“Getting deep on me…”
“That’s how it goes you know…”
“Fair enough…ummm, my biggest fear is probably losing someone close to me prematurely.” “Like them dying?” He inquired.
“Yeah, like if I were to lose my one of my brothers tomorrow, it’s my worst nightmare.”
“That’s a good one. I couldn’t imagine losing my sisters.” “Yeah, it’s pretty scary.”
“Alright then...moving on. What is the most illegal thing you’ve ever done?”
“Hahaha, I don’t know…I used to steal clothes…or doing drugs?? I’m not sure which one is worse.”
“Wow…we’ve got a bad girl here…” I gave him a glare and he put his hands up surrendering…….. “no judgments.”
“Thank you,” I said with a huge grin.
“What keeps you up at night?”
“I think just, disappointing people. Everything that I do and every decision that I make I always think about how it will affect the people in my life or what they will think about it. I know I shouldn’t but it’s just something I have always done.”
“Yeah, I feel that. Whenever I have a bad game, I just feel like I’m disappointing my team, my family, the fans, just so many people.” “Yeah, I’m sure. I know this doesn’t even compare to the NHL, but I threw on the track team for my school, and whenever I had a bad day, I was always more upset about disappointing everyone else than I was myself.”
“You get me. It’s probably the worst part about playing in the NHL, and that’s what you tend to focus on the most too.”
“I know you probably hear this a lot, but just the fact that you made it to the NHL is crazy. Everyone makes mistakes and has off days. It doesn’t change who you are as a player.”
“You really are amazing. I know who I’m going to go to after I have a bad game.”
I blushed a bit and kissed him softly. This time it didn’t turn into a make-out session because Y/BF/N walked in the door.
“Oh fuck, I’m sorry, I’m going to my room, continue on…” Y/BF/N said making a big deal out of it.
I laughed a bit as she walked down the hall apologizing to Auston for the interruption.
“It’s alright, I like talking to you.”
“I like talking to you too…” He cut me off with the same soft kiss I gave him just moments before.
“I do like kissing you too though”
I giggled a bit when Y/BF/N came back out.
“Sorry, I’m kinda hungry.”
“It’s all good, we were just talking anyway.”
“Mhmm…sure.”
I have Auston a look and we both laughed.
“Exactly.” Y/BF/N said.
“What are you making?” I asked.
“Nachos!!! Want some?”
“Of course!!” I replied.
We all hung out and talked for a little while longer when Auston decided he should get back to the hotel.
“What time do you wanna meet up tomorrow?” He asked.
“I’m flexible, whenever you guys want to get up and get going is fine with me.” “How about 11?” He questioned.
“That’s perfect.”
“See you then,” he said giving me a kiss on the cheek and walking out the door.
“Holy fuck, Y/N.” Y/BF/N said.
“I know.”
“Are you gonna fuck him????” “Omg, Y/BF/N I just met him.”
“So?? That hasn’t stopped you before…”
“Fuck off, this is different.”
“Whatever you say…”
“Whatever, goodnight bish”
“Night slut!”
Auston’s POV
I woke up excited to spend another day with Y/N. She is just so much fun and so genuine, I’ve never felt this way about a girl. I’m sad that we’re leaving tomorrow because I have no idea when I will see her next if I even see her at all. I’m busted out of my thoughts by Mitch talking to me.
“Yo loverboy, you ready to go?”
“Yeah, I’m ready.” Shaking my head at his nickname.
“What are you gonna do when we leave tomorrow?” He asks.
“I don’t know man. I really like her. I know I just met her, but I really want her in my life.”
“Then make it happen.”
“Yeah but she lives here, and I’m in Arizona for the rest of the summer and then in Toronto for the season, and I don’t even know what she wants to do with her life.” “Well slow down there, you don’t have to get married right now. You could just stay friends for now and see how things go, see her when you can see her, and then figure out if you want something more.” “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
“I’m always right”
“Haha, that’s a good one Mitchy,” I said giving him a slap on the back.
“Whatever, let’s go get her.”
I texted Y/N when we were outside of her apartment and she came out the door just a few seconds later.
“Hey guys, how are you?” She asked as she got into the car.
“Good, how about you?” I asked.
“I’m okay, excited for some ice cream!”
“Big facts,” Mitch stated, Y/N and I both laughed as I drove away.
After the tour of the factory, we decided to get a late lunch back in Burlington. We went to a restaurant downtown and then walked around Church St. a bit and did some shopping. We were having such a great time, I was dreading having to say goodbye to her. It was about 3 o’clock when Y/N suggested going to the beach. Mitch and I agreed, we went to the store to get some drinks and snacks, we stopped at Y/N’s for her to change and then to the hotel so Mitch and I could change and then we headed to the beach.
It was nice chatting and relaxing with Mitch and Y/N. She’s really funny and Mitch feeds off of it so it’s a riot to listen to the two of them.
Eventually, Mitch fell asleep and I took that as my opportunity to talk to Y/N about what happens when I leave.
“So, we’re leaving tomorrow,” I stated hesitantly.
Y/N looked down a bit, “oh yeah,” she stated a little solemnly.
“I’ve really enjoyed hanging out with you and getting to know you. I don’t want that to stop.”
“To be honest, I can’t even believe I’m lying on the beach with you right now. This weekend has been so amazing. I haven’t had this much fun in a long time.”
“I’m just worried I won’t see you again.”
“Don’t worry about that. You will. And besides, there this really cool thing now, you can talk to someone on your phone while looking at them. I don’t know if you have heard of it? It’s called FaceTime.” Y/N said with that sweet like smirk.
I laughed and kissed her softly.
A few minutes later, Mitch awoke from his slumber. “Oh man, I don’t know about you guys but I’m starving.”
I looked at my phone to check the time and realized it was almost 8 o’clock and the sun was starting to set. I looked over to Y/N and she nodded and said she could eat too. So, we packed up our stuff and headed to grab dinner.
I tried to make dinner as long as possible because I knew my time with Y/N was coming to an end. I figured we could hang out tonight too but we did have to leave early tomorrow morning for our flight.
We had decided that we would go back to the hotel and Y/N would come over after she showered and changed to say goodbye. It felt like hours before we heard a knock at the door. I opened it revealing Y/N with a 6-pack of beer just like the first night she came here. She came in and sat down on the bed after handing Mitch a beer. I sat down next to her and we all chatted a bit about our plans for the rest of our summer.
It was now time for Y/N to go. She hugged Mitch and they said goodbye, and then I followed Y/N out to the hallway and to the lobby.
“Thank you so much for this weekend, Y/N/N. It was amazing. I already can’t wait to see you again.” I said looking down at her.
“It was my pleasure, Auston. I can’t wait to see you either.”
I kissed her softly and reluctantly let go after what seemed like hours. She gave me a hug and I waved as she walked out the door.
“Bye, Y/N.”
“Call me some time,” she called over her shoulder with that oh so cute smirk on her face.

O Captain My Captain- Morgan Rielly
Morgan felt like he had been waiting for this moment for a while, but at the same time he felt like he never actually believed it would come. Today Dubas and Babcock we're announcing the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It had been five years, many of them with no captain and many games where Morgan had worn the A with pride. To him, it felt like any other year. He knew he would end up wearing the A on his sweater at some point, but he also could end up wearing the C.
His family and friends all told him it was a sure shot that he would be named captain when the season begun. But Morgan knew how the locker room worked and how the NHL worked. His team had a Calder winner and one of the highest paid kids in the league on the roster, and to many it was a power move to hand Auston the captaincy. But there was also JT, who was such a leader in the locker room and in the city. Morgan couldn't look at the locker room and feel absolutely confident that he would be named captain.
Morgan looked up from where he had been deep in thought sitting at his stall when he heard his name called. He met Babs gaze as the man jerked his head, beckoning the blonde out of the locker room and likely into his office. When Morgan entered the room behind his coach and saw Kyle Dubas joining them, he knew what was happening.
*
She was sitting at home watching HGTV, trying to see any new DIY projects she could begin for fall in her and Morgan's new house. The couple had headed to Vancouver for the summer, like they had the year before. But this time, when they left Toronto, they packed up the condo the two had then shared and had spent all summer preparing to move into their new house on the outskirts of the city.
It had been a practical move for them, especially considering Morgan had presented her with a beautiful diamond on their all star break vacation. This was the home they would hopefully begin the rest of their life in.
So basically, when Morgan returned home from practice, (y/n) was deep in the land of Pinterest. She barely looked up from her phone when she called out a greeting after hearing the door close. She did break her concentration when she didn't receive an answer.
"Baby?" She called out, turning around on the couch to see Morgan in the kitchen leaning on the counter and staring off into space. "Morgan what's wrong," she asked worriedly as she shuffled over to him, standing in front of him and cupping his cheek to make him meet her gaze.
"I uh," the blonde stuttered, running his hand through his hair. "They um. They-"
"Oh my god Morgan," she gasped, covering her open mouth. "Did something happen? Did they take you off the roster? I don't un-"
"No no no," Morgan interrupted her rambling, rubbing her arms to calm her heart rate. "They, uh, they named me captain."
Her mouth dropped again and this time in a good way. "Morgan," she gasped as her eyes instantly began to fill with tears. "Baby," she leaped at her fiancé, wrapping her arms around him and burying her head in his neck. "Morgan I am so proud of you."
She pulled away from him to see a smile of disbelief on his face. "You deserve this more than anyone Mo, and I know you are going to continue being the best leader you can for this team."
"I just can't believe it," Morgan chuckled as he pulled her back into his arms. "This is unreal"
"Well believe it baby, you are the Captain of the Toronto Maple leafs."

Instagram Live #1 || Self-Para
Auston wasn’t much for the Instagram app, barely using, maybe posting a picture every so often, but this was the first time he has ever used the Instagram live feature. After hitting the 'Start Live Video’ button he waited for it to really kick in as numerous people joined and before he knew it, it was in the thousand. Zach was already in bed, so Auston just laid on the couch, only being lit by the large lamp in the room, “Hey guys, I know it’s late and I never really do this thing, but I’m bored and really couldn’t think of anything to do tonight.” Numerous comments started flying past his eyes, some making him laugh a little “Well, some of you come on strong... but besides some of these comments, who wants a little Q and A time while I figure out what time I should go to bed at.” He looked straight into the camera, “I’m going to take that as a yes from all of you?”
Finding the first question fly by, “What are you doing career wise right now? What? Are you new here? I play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, drafted and still ... wait, you’re making a joke about the off-season? It’s been golf, friends and family” He glanced back at the comments as the flew by, “Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Well... not sure yet, but I can only hope to still be playing hockey, it’s always been my dream and I’m glad I’m able to fulfill that dream, a dream a lot of kids dream of but never get to live.” He quickly jumped on the next question as it seemed to fit the current discussion about him, “If you couldn’t do your current profession anymore, what would you want to do? I think I’d go back to school and look into helping with physical therapy, whether ir be for sports or just the typical help, I just feel like that’s what I would do if it wasn’t for hockey.
Biting his lip and looking back at the screen, he kind of subconsciously ignored the ‘have my baby’ comments and more of the inappropriate ones as well, “What is the hardest part about being a celebrity?“ He thought to himself for a moment, “I don’t know if I’d really consider myself a celebrity, maybe in the hockey world, but if you mention my name to some random guy in the middle of Kansas he’d probably have absolutely no clue who I even am,” Looking back at the comments now soaring by, making it harder for him to catch a good question, so the smallest one he saw he hopped on it, “Describe your ideal soulmate... Someone who can keep up with me, not only with hockey, but with my attitude, and just... someone who loves me for me, and I’m glad I have that right now”
Smiling at the next question he saw, it was al in caps, as if they were trying to get his attention, “What is your go-to guilty pleasure? Binge watching odd shows, like I just binged watched the two season of Westworld, I also play a lot of ECHL.” the next question seemed to be one that was being asked by numerous time, since it was obvious that he and Zach were still seeing each other be he hadn’t posted about Taylor lately, “How has your relationship changed in the last year? Well... it’s changed a LOT. Everyone knows about Taylor, Zach and I and how the last 3 months have been,” Clearing his throat he started, “Taylor asked for a divorce... So it’s just Zach and I for now, until hockey season starts when we start playing in different cities for 8 month of the year.”
Once he let that question sink in, and all the comments seemed to change to sympathetic, which meant he had to fish for more useful questions “Who do you dislike most in the group and why? And Who is your favorite person in the group and why?” Cringing at the thought of trying to figure who he hated, but no one was coming to his mind, “To answer the first question, no one yet, no one has gotten on my nerves enough to where I hate them, I mean it’s nice when you can say stuff without someone getting offended by the littlest thing when you call them out on their hypocrisies, but it’s really whatever now, haha” he let out the small laugh, “And to choose who my favorite person is? It’s given, it’s my man Zachary, he’s been my rock and my support through all this recent stuff going on, and I’m glad I have him in my life right now.”
“Alright guys, one more question and then I’m heading to bed,” he announced to the live stream, numerous questions floated by, some he even already answered, “Do you regret anything you’ve done in the last six months? Wow, in the last six months? No, I don’t think so, so much has happened in the last 6 months and I can only think and thank everything that’s happened, cause it’s lead me down a path and I don’t want to look back.” Smiling at the camera, he waved, “Thanks for coming o my TEDtalk, and I will see you guys... when the season starts” He let out a small laugh as he ended the stream, getting up from the couch and going to bed, curling up with Zach.

Auston Matthews- New Leaf- Chapter Twelve
Masterlist
Word count: 629
*Three months later*
Going between Buffalo and Toronto all the time was hard. I have tried to spend so much time with friends I have felt that I don’t spend enough time with some and more time with others but no one says anything.
Patrick and Johnathan have been way overprotective with Auston, more then what I thought. I thought it would have died die by now but it hasn’t really. I think Auston is using to it by now but I on the other am getting annoyed. Jack and Sam were protective but they have gotten used to it. I think it because they see Auston and me together more. I also kind of see where Patrick and Johnathan are coming from because everything that happened with Max.
Right now I was on a plane to Chicago to see Patrick and Johnathan. I haven’t seen them in about two months. I thought this was the best time to go because they are playing the Leafs which I haven’t see Auston in about two weeks because he been on their road trip. none of them knew I was coming it's going to be a surprise for all.
I knew what time the Hawks had practice and decided I would go see my brother first. I walked through the tunnels knew exactly where I was going. It sounds like they were done with practice and headed to the locker room. I stood there looked for Patrick or Johnathan but I couldn’t see them. Coach Q was walking by and saw me standing there.
“Emily Kane its good to see you.” I smiled and gave him a hug.
“Its good to see you too.”
“You’re looking for Kane and Towes?” I nodded. “They are still out on the ice you can head that way if you like.” I thanked him and walked to the ice.
I got to the bench and saw them both there just messing around and laughing with not a care in the world.
“Do you guys really think you should be messing around right now when you have a game tonight?” I yelled out to them. I think I scared them both a bit because they looked like they were about to fall.
“Emily? What are you doing here?” Pat said while skating over the bench I was at followed by John.
“I haven’t seen you guys in a while so I thought I would come and visit.” I smiled at them and gave them both a hug.
“Is it because we are playing your boyfriend?” John asked with a smile.
“I have to make sure you don’t kill him because I really do lo- like him.” I caught myself there. I have been thinking so much about it. Do I really love Auston? I mean I advent said it to him and he hasn’t said to me. What if he does feel the same way? Then again do I even know what love is? I thought I loved Max but we know how that turned out.
“What were you about to say?” My brother questioned me. I looked away from them both. I tried to look anywhere but at them. I was hoping they didn’t hear that.
“You love him don’t you?” John asked coming over the wall and sitting next to me on the bench.
“I don’t know. He is way different from Max. Which is a great thing? I thought I knew what love was with Max but with Auston is completely different. I don’t know how to explain it. I thought after a few months these butterflies I feel when I am with him or when I talk to him would go away but they are there and they are stronger. I feel safe when I am with him. When he is gone for games I miss him the second that he leaves or if I leave to go back to Buffalo. I feel that my heart is getting ripped out every time and it sucks.” I didn’t realize I went on and on about Auston and my feelings to him and they both just listen to me. “I’m sorry for talks about this I haven’t talked about this with anyone and this is the first time I have swiped up.”
“Em don’t apologize. You are feeling the love that you should have. The love everyone looks for. It makes me happy that you are happy with Matthews he’s a great guy. Even though we give him crap all the time Towes and I really like him.” Pat was now sitting next to me with an arm wrapped around me. I smiled and leaned my head against him.
“You smell.” I laughed and stood up.
“Way to ruin a moment,” John said and stood up along with Pat.
They both went to the locker room to shower and change. I stood in the hallway thinking about the past three months. They have been amazing. Auston has been amazing I wouldn’t want to spend my time with anyone else. He is the first thing I think about when I get up and then the last thing I think about before I go to bed. I look forward to our phone calls in the morning and I text message at random times in the day when we have free time to text. It's manly whenever he has free time because I always have free time.
“Emily?” I looked up and saw Pat and John standing there.
“What?” They both laughed
“Does Matthews know you’re here?” We started walking down the tunnels.
“No, he doesn’t. I think I am going to wait till after the game and spend time with you guys. Even though I advent saw him in a while.” I looked down at my feet. There was nothing I wanted more was to find out what hotel he was staying at and go there and just be in his arms but I advent seen Pat and John in two months.
“Oh don’t look so sad we are fun to hang around,” Pat said with a laugh.
“Don’t take it the wrong way.”
“We know,” John said.
“Let's go to my place I have something for you before the game,” Pat said while we walked up to his car. All three of us got in and drove to Pat house.
I was waiting in the Patrick living room for him and Johnathan to finish getting ready for the game. I heard Pat yell from upstairs to close my eyes.
“Why do I have to close them?”
“Because I didn’t wrap it.” I laughed and closed them. “Now put both hands out.” I did as I was told. I felt plastic on my hands. “Okay, you can open.” I slowly opened my eyes and looked down. I saw the Maple Leafs logo on the blue jersey I looked up at Patrick confused. “Open it up.” I did. Number 34 Matthews was on the back. I haven’t worn Auston jersey since I game it to Steph and walked out of the ACC. I haven’t felt bad about doing so. Every time I go to his game I just wear a t-shirt and Auston doesn’t say anything about it.
“You bought me a Matthews jersey? Why?”
“I see the pictures of you and some girls that you go with the Leafs game and you never have a jersey on. I see pictures of you and Matthews before and after games and you don’t have a jersey on.” I looked down at the jersey again.
“I can’t wear it.”
“Why not?” John asked
“Because the last time I wore Auston’s jersey to a game. I took it off gave it to Steph to give back to him. I feel that if I wear his jersey I am going to do the same thing and I don’t want to lose him.”
“When you did that you were going through some things with Max and trying to start something with Auston but now from what you tell me you are in a way better place now than when you wore that jersey the first time.” I smiled at Pat and looked down at the jersey again. “I think you should wear that jersey tonight.” My head shot up and looked at my brother.
“I can’t.”
“Yes, you can. You are also going to go see him before the game because you haven’t seen him in a while and I think its driving you insane.” I laughed. Can I really wear Auston jersey while I see my brother play against my boyfriend?
“Are you sure?” I asked him just in case.
“I am positive now let get you to the area so you can see your lover. Put the jersey on.” pat shot right up from the seat he was in and walked to the door. I was wearing a Hawks t shirt right now so I just put the jersey right over it and went over the mirror. I smile and went to Patrick’s car.
I don’t normally go down the visitor's tunnel in Chicago, I normally here only to see the Hawks. I don’t know why I was getting nervous, but I was. I stopped when I was some Leafs players walking towards me.
“Emily?” I smiled.
“William Nylander, how have you been?” I walked up to him and hugged him.
“And where is mine hug?” I laughed a Mitch. I have been getting pretty close to these two. Maybe its because they are also over at Auston house when I am there.
“Auston didn’t tell us you were going o be here.”
“That's because he doesn’t know I am here.” They smiled
“Would you like us to go get him?” Mitch asked I smiled. “We will be right back.” They both turned around and began walking to the locker room.
“Hey, Em nice jersey,” Will called out.
“I told you. You would be wearing one of our jerseys.” Mitch laughed.
I stood there waiting. It felt like hours till I heard the doors that Mitch and Will went through. I looked up and saw both of them walk out first with Auston right behind them. I couldn’t help but smile. I wanted to run right up to him but I waited till he saw me.
“Guys we have to get ready for the game,” I spoke to them both.
“We know but I think you will understand.” Mitch looked down the hall to where I was and Auston followed to where he as looking and his eyes landed on mine. He smiled and walked down the hall. I meant him half way and he picked me up and spin me around.
“What are you doing here?” He said in my ear not letting me go.
“I came to see Pat and John. They just happened to be playing the Leafs.” We pulled away and I smiled up at him.
“I have missed you so many these past two weeks.” He leaned his forehead against mine with his eyes closed.
“I have missed you too.” These butterflies are getting out of control. Auston pulled away and looked down at the jersey I was wearing.
“You're wearing my jersey.” He sounds almost shocked.
“Pat gave it to me earlier that I could use one since I am dating number 34.”
“I never got you one because I didn’t think you would be it after what happens.”
“I have to tell you I was a little nervous to wear it. I just didn’t want what happened last time to happen again. I know it wouldn’t because I don’t want to hurt the person I love.” I said it I said, love. I love him with all my heart and I think he should know. If he doesn’t feel the same well that is just going to suck.
“The person you love?” Auston asked looked right at me.
“Yes, I love you, Auston Matthews. I can’t seem to get these stupid butterflies out.” I waited to see if he would say it back I was starting to think he wasn’t going to say it.
“I love you too Emily Kane.” I smiled at him and he leaned in for a kiss. Once our lips touched fireworks went off just like every time we kissed. We also got interrupted.
“Matthews we are a game to start.”Morgan Reilly called out while laughing.
“I swear every time we are alone someone always is there just ready to disturb us.” I laughed
“Well, you better get going so you can kick some Blackhawks ass. Just not my brother and Towes.” Auston smiled.
“Damn I love you Em.”
“I love you too Auston.”

Anonymous said:I have an Auston request if you're willing to take it!! Auston is known for his playboy ways and he meets a girl via mutual friends, they hook up but keep talking after and he realizes that he actually really likes her but she's hesitant cause of his reputation. (It doesn't have to be smut cause of the hook up, you could probably start after they hook up you wanted)
Anonymous said:Auston Matthews imagine where the reader won't date him bc of his reputation but he gets drunk and she sees a different side of him??
A/N: oh how i love being able to get two requests done in one imagine :)) also i 100% got inspired by @jveseys auston imagine that i had recently reblogged, so you can thank her for getting my ass in gear and actually writing an auston imagine lol
Word Count: 2,759
"Are you really going to sit here and pretend you didn't sleep with that hot piece of ass?" Your friend joked in a low voice. It took everything inside of you to not turn and smack her hard on the arm for her comment. Instead you settled for rolling your eyes and taking a sip through the straw of your vodka drink.
It had been only two whole weeks since you and Auston had hooked up. Fourteen whole days of you replaying the night in your mind. From the way he muffled his moans to his tightening grip on your hips as the sex came to an end - like literally. Best orgasm ever. Auston mentioned something along those lines too.
That night wasn't really supposed to end that way, you knew his reputation, he was a player and he knew it too. Hence the 'sexy' look he was giving some blonde at the bar. But one thing lead to another, you got kinda desperate after seeing an old hook up of yours with his new girl and after some petty grinding against Auston you ended up being him back to your place. Flash forward to tonight, two painful week later, and Kappy was still dragging you out to come out with his teammates.
"Would you shut up," you hissed to your friend as she eyed up Auston, "it was a one time thing," you grumbled under your breath as the blonde Auston was amusing threw her head back with laughter.
"As if," you friend huffed and finished off her drink quickly, "I know you've been getting yourself off to memories of that one time," she said.
"Shut up," you narrowed your eyes at her. She simply shrugged and gave you an innocent look before turning to the table beside us and throwing an arm around Willy - her favourite person during our nights out. She was still hoping for that one night with him.
As she wandered off with Willy to the bar and Annika and Kappy were in their own world beside you, you stared down at your phone. Opening snapchat, you noticed your streak with Auston at the little timer beside it. Your heart just about jumped out of your chest - stupid, you know. After holding back from rolling your eyes at yourself, you flipped the camera to yourself and somehow got the dog filter to show up with the help of flash and gave the camera a toothy grin before sending it to Auston.
After watching a couple snapchat stories, including Kappy's of him drunkly taking a video of him and Annika, you went off to Instagram. Despite the time, your selfie you had posted only half an hour ago was blowing up. Cue the confidence boost in three, two, one - refreshing the page you were ambushed with likes and comments. You smiled but it quickly fell as Auston's snapchat name popped up on top of your screen.
Tapping it, you opened the app and then the snap. For ten seconds, you were blessed with a dog selfie from that hot piece of ass - the caption across read 'vodka slim right?', before you could respond to tell him yes he was standing in front of you.
"Thanks," you said with a smile as he set your drink down in front of you.
"You're welcome," Auston nodded and took the seat across from you.
"Where's the blonde go?" You asked, the question slipping from your mouth before you could even think twice. Past hook ups didn't ask about present or future hook ups, it was like an unspoken rule.
Auston's lips turned up into a smirk - that same smirk you were familiar with from when he had your practically begging two weeks ago. It was a weak moment, but it worked out in your favour. "I'm sure she'll be back, I'll be sure to let her know one of us is interested in her," he joked.
Rolling your eyes, you sipped your drink before speaking up, "you looked pretty interested a minute ago over there," you said while pointing behind him where he once stood with the blonde.
"Guess I'm a pretty good actor," he shrugged and took a long swig of his beer.
"Guess so," you muttered under your breath.
It was only a single second of silence between you two. One you spent stirring the ice in your drink while Auston leaned forward towards you. Peering up through your lashes, you took in his smile - it was no longer than 'sexy' smirk but instead a boyish smile you were lucky enough to catch every now and then.
"Bet you'd rather be home in bed watching some crap TV show, huh?" He asked.
"One Tree Hill is not a crap TV show," you replied.
"Sure," Auston teased. You reached across the table and smacked his arm lightly. Of course you noticed how good his arms looks in the tight black tshirt he was wearing tonight.
You looked across the table and narrowed your eyes at the boy sitting across from you. He eyes were glassy, his cheeks just a little rosy and he flashed that boyish smile yet again. Auston was drunk. You recalled earlier, upon arriving at the club, when Willy slapped down his cash and bought him and Auston shots. Lots of shots. Now, here we sat with Auston drunk and you only slightly buzzed. You kinda liked it, you thought as a smirk curled up your lips.
"You're drunk," you stated while smiling at Auston. He shrugged in response.
"And you're not," he countered back. And of course, you shrugged back at him. "Drink up, get to my level, Y/N," he chuckled while pushing your drink towards you.
"I don't know if you can handle me at your level," you joked but took a sip of your drink anyways.
"I'm sure I can handle anything you throw my way," Auston said.
You inhaled and brought the glass up to your lips again, peering at Auston over the rim as his smile turned into a smirk. There were those painfully hot flashbacks yet again. Snapping out of it, you finished off the drink and placed it onto the table.
"Come, I'll buy you another," he said while standing up and finishing off his own drink.
"You brought the last one to me?" You said in a questioning tone while furrowing your brows together.
"Yeah, and that seat is forming to your ass," Auston said. Your mouth gaped open in shock as he grabbed your hand and pulled you out of the chair you had grown comfortable in. Auston chuckled, "I mean, it's a nice ass and all-"
You cut him off by smacking him on the chest and letting go of his hand to do so. Then you lead the way, purposely giving him a chance to see how nice your ass really was. Once you got to the bar, Auston was two steps behind you and waved over the bartender.
Auston ordered two vodka slims, causing you to think they were both for you but as they were placed in front of you two he took one for himself. You leaned back against the bar and smiled before sipping from the straw. Auston finished paying for the drink and looked over your way, pulling his brows together at the devious smile on your lips.
"What?"
"Beer before liquor, never been sicker," you sung out the rhyme.
Auston rolled his eyes, "that's a myth," he said.
"Sure, tell me that when your throwing up tomorrow," you teased.
"I will," he smirked and then drank more of his vodka.
All of a sudden the music remixed into your favourite song at the moment. You sipped more of your drink and just about spit it out as the song played throughout the club. Putting down your drink, you pointed up to the sky as if the speakers were right there.
"This is my favourite song," you stated excitedly.
Auston chuckled and then smiled, he put down his drink as well and then lazily grabbed onto your hand. "Then let's go dance," he said before leading the way.
"Wait, really, Auston," you groaned out as he made way through the crowd to get to the dance floor.
Auston completely ignored your grumbling and groans of him dragging you out to dance with him. It wasn't that you didn't want to dance, it was the fact you were somehow being sucked into his playboy ways yet again. You didn't want to get involved with a guy like him. Sure, he was sweet and you kinda liked his smile, but you knew his rep way too well. And that just wasn't really your type - okay, maybe it was some nights.
You swayed your hips to the music and danced along as the beat of the song picked up. Once the course took over and the DJ mixed it up some more you found yourself closing your eyes and twirling around on the dance floor as the music took over. Or maybe it was the liquor.
With your eyes closed and the rhythm of the music moving your hips you weren't even surprised as you felt those familiar rough hands find your hips. This was why you were complaining as Auston took you to the dance floor. You couldn't help but grind back onto him, which caused his fingertips to dig into the exposed skin of your mid drift.
"Mierda(Shit)," Auston grumbled from behind you. You had to take a deep breath at the sound of another language rolling off that tongue of his.
With a short sigh, you turned around and let your hands fall down his chest as your eyes locked on his, "no hablo español(I don't speak Spanish)," you said with a smirk. It was all you remembered from those high school classes.
"Gracias a Dios o estaría muerto(thank god or I'd be dead)," Auston replied. With his lips twitching up into that lovely smirk, you knew whatever he had said was a smartass comment.
"Look, you're hot, speaking Spanish and all," you paused and leaned more into him now, "but don't make any smartass comments to me, Matthews," you said.
Auston kept that smirk on his face, "bien," he said.
"I need another drink," you muttered loudly just as your favourite song was dying out into another top 40 mix.
Auston was following behind you, or so you thought. As you turned to look over your shoulder once you got to the bar you saw that the blonde had found him again. You stared and watched as Auston chuckled and then that 'sexy' look in his eyes flashed on again. Suddenly his eyes flickered off the blonde and found you, he raised a brow and before you could see anything else you turned back to the bar.
"Y/N," your friend grinned while she and Willy came up beside you.
"Hey, you guys seem a lot more drunk than when I last saw you," you stated. She giggled while Willy called over the bartender.
"I think Y/N needs some shots," your friend said, "Willy get her some shots," she ordered him while her hand toyed with his belt buckle. Classic.
But Willy listened and ordered you two tequila shots, despite you trying to decline them. Just as you were about to lift the first one to your lips, Auston appeared beside you - without the blonde, thankfully.
"Willy buying another round?" Auston asked.
"For me," you mumbled before downing the shot and then grabbing the second one and pouring it down your throat too. With the burn and disgust in your mouth, you grabbed a few sliced limes and began to suck on them, one by one till they were done.
Once you were finished and feeling a bit better - also feeling much more drunk immediately- you looked at Auston. He was watching you, a smile on his lips and a devious look in his eyes. One thing was for certain, this hot piece of ass wasn't Auston's tonight. You waved over the bartender and got yourself another drink to sip on before finding you way back to the table.
And those two tequila shots were how you ended up being practically carried to your apartment by none other than Spanish-speaking-hot-piece-of-ass-NHL-playboy, Auston Matthews. A roar of cheers played in your head at your thoughts. Then you were actually cheering as Auston opened your front door. You kicked off your shoes and flung yourself across the room onto the couch.
"Graceful," Auston chuckled.
"Oh shut it," you muttered at him.
"Oh you're grumpy now huh?" He teased while taking a seat beside you. You attempted to sit up but instead kept slouching. "Just a moment ago you were serenading me in the cab," he stated.
"Don't give me that stupid boyish smile," you said while pointing to his face where that perfect smile was. "I won't fall for it, it won't work on me," you added.
"¿Estás seguro?(You sure?)," Auston somehow managed to make the two Spanish words to sound so sexy you swore you needed to go change your panties right then and there.
You closed your eyes and let out a groan, long and whiny. Auston laughed at you but he stopped as you sat up and cocked a brow at him. As your eyes gazed into his, you firstly felt dizzy, but then you felt that lusting you had been feeling all these past fourteen days. Your heavy eyelids caused you to break the gaze and instead take in his body instead. Everything inside of you was telling you to jump onto him and do it all over again. But then there was that settle reminder of who you didn't want to get involved with.
"I'm tired," you blurted out.
Without a response from Auston you got up and walked down the hall to your open bedroom door. All over the floor was the tornado of getting ready, which you easily ignored and instead took off your pants and shirt before bending down to pick up a super oversized band tee. Then you were laying on top of some clothes and your comforter as the world started to spin.
In your haze of being drunk, you heard someone enter your room - obviously that someone was Auston. You hoped he'd get the message and sleep on the couch or maybe even cab home. But instead you heard some ruffling around before the bed dipped down beside you. Next came the cool feeling of one of your makeup wipes.
"Thank you," you mumbled as Auston wiped off your makeup.
"You're welcome," he said as your lips turned up into a smile. This was by far the sweetest thing any guy ever had done for you.
There was silence that fell over the room as he continued to wipe your face free of makeup. Then he tossed the wipe into the garbage and as he sat there in the silence you opened your eyes. Auston sat there, staring at you. A flutter of butterflies filled your stomach and you just kept on smiling.
"You know how I said I was a good actor earlier?" Auston asked.
"Yeah,"
"I've been acting around you mostly," he stated, suddenly confusing you now. Auston licked his lips and kept his eyes on you. "I've been acting as if I don't like you more than a friend, like as if even seeing your face in a snapchat for 10 seconds doesn't make me smile," Auston said in a soft voice.
Every playboy image you had of Auston washed away then. With his words you sobered up a little and grabbed ahold of his hand. You took a deep breath.
"I feel the same way," you admitted. The first time out loud and to yourself in all honesty. Auston's boyish smile came back as he laced your fingers together. "Stay the night," you said.
"Por supuesto bebé(of course baby)," Auston said. Then he stood up and turned off your lights, you heard him struggle to get out of his jeans - causing you to giggle and make fun of him - then he was sliding you under the covers and not hesitating to pull you into his warm body.
Finally your night finished the most perfect of ways. A soft, gentle, simple kiss from Auston's lips right on your temple. You smiled and shut your eyes, feeling content with how your night had surprisingly gone.

[Part One] [Part Two] [Part Three] [Part Four] [Part Five] [Part Six] [Part Seven]
“You didn’t mention this was a group excursion,” you gritted out, as your best friend just grinned sheepishly towards you.
When Connor had invited you up to his family’s cottage for the long weekend, you hadn’t expected a bunch of his Leafs buddies to be joining. Sure, one or two, but not six. That seemed a bit drastic.
Now as you stood with your arms crossed in Connor’s driveway, Kasperi’s familiar jeep pulled up, and Zach arrived shortly after in his own vehicle.
“Oh c'mon babes, we have more girls with us this time,” Madison chirped from beside Connor, her pink tinted ray bans flashing in the sunlight. She looked absolutely stunning today. With her long hair, down in waves, and a cute beach outfit on, Madison looked beautiful. While you, well you didn’t feel so attractive.
You had your hair up in a pony tail, and one of your many ball caps on. You were wearing your pair of worn out keds, along with your set of rolled up light wash jean capris. On top, you were adorning your lucky t-shirt. It was from a hockey tournament you had won when you were sixteen. The grey coloured material had pulled over time, and a few holes could be found along some of the seams. Due to the holes, you had just put on a bandeau underneath, leaving a few glimpses of your pale skin free for anyone to see.
If you had known it wasn’t just going to be you, Connor, and Madison, you would’ve made a better effort to clothe yourself this morning.
When you saw the other Leaf girlfriends who were joining you, you definitely wanted to go die. Alannah, Zach’s lovely girlfriend, was a sweetheart, but she was also a bombshell. The funny part was that Zach knew it and loved to show his long-term girlfriend off. The other girlfriend, Annika you believed, was everything you weren’t, which made you cringe. She was tiny, but her body was sculpted beyond belief. Yep, there was no way you would be going out to the lake this entire trip.
“Y/N!”
You sent your Swedish friend a smile, as William charged up towards you. You hadn’t seen him since your club night a couple weeks ago as he had gone back home to visit his family.
“Hey Will,” you greeted, and laughed when the power forward gave you a tight hug and lifted you slightly.
“How’s my favourite Canadian?” he questioned, causing a loud shout of “Hey!” to come from both Connor and Zach, who were preoccupied with packing the latter’s trunk.
You stifled a giggle, “I’m alright, how was Sweden?”
“It was awesome,” he sighed, a smile appearing on his lips as he thought of his home country, “you’ll have to come next time Y/N, you’d love it,”
“Maybe one day,” you replied, and William’s lips suddenly made an ‘O’ shape. “Speaking of the trip, I brought you back some presents,”
“What? You didn’t have to do that,” You said as William scrambled back to Kasperi’s jeep.
“Well yeah, I had too, besides it’s nothing huge or anything,” William shrugged, as he handed you the small giftbag.
Taking the tissue paper out, you laughed as you pulled out two boxes of Swedish cookies. William had kept them stashed away at his apartment, claiming they were too good to share. But one night in front of most of the guys, William did allow you to have one, as you were his favourite Canadian after all.
“There’s one more,” William told you, as he took the sweet treats out of your hand.
Reaching in, you chuckled and shook your head when you pulled out the bright yellow shirt. “Did you seriously get me your shirsey?”
“It’s a limited addition Y/N, they’re from the world championship, so I thought you could add it to your collection,” William explained, a hint of humour in his voice. It had become a running gag in your group of friends to give you their hockey gear as presents.
“Thanks Will,” you smiled, giving him a one-armed embrace.
“Hey! You didn’t get me anything!” Kasperi complained, as he joined you both.
“That’s because you’re spoiled Kappy. Besides, you’ve been to Sweden, where Y/N here hasn’t joined us yet,” William pointed out, giving his best friend a shove. “When I take her to Sweden, we’ll come visit you in Finland,”
“Hey party people!”
Looking over, you grinned and waved towards Morgan, who himself had just arrived. “Is that everyone?” you then questioned, looking towards Connor specifically.
“Auston and Mitch should be here any second,” he replied, and your stomach dropped. Of course, he was coming.
“So how are we dealing with the seating situation?” Zach then asked, approaching your group.
“Well Mads and I are coming with you and Alannah. Leaving the seven of you,” Connor explained.
“Well why don’t Y/N and Will come with me, and then Mo can go with Matts and Marns?” Kasperi suggested, and I nodded, silently agreeing with the Finnish Leaf.
“Yeah, okay, sounds good, now we just have to wait for dumb and dumber,” Morgan sighed, and Connor nodded, “Matts said they were on their way,” and just as he finished his sentence, the sound of Mitch’s car revved around the corner.
“You’re late,” Zach chastised when Auston rolled down the passenger window when Mitch’s car came a stop in front of the house.
“Sorry, dumbass here got lost,” Auston sighed, earning him a smack from Mitch.
“Well let’s go, we’re burning daylight here,” Morgan said, making his way up to Mitch’s rear door, and slipping in.
As you turned away to walk towards Kasperi’s vehicle, you stopped when Auston’s eyes caught yours.
“Hey Y/N! You need a ride?” Auston’s voice called out to you. Morgan then wiggled his eyebrows from the back seat and Mitch sent you a playful wink.
“Nah, she’s coming with me!” William’s smooth voice then replied, answering for you as he pulled you along. You sent Auston an apologetic smile as the Swede hauled you away, while he just raised an eyebrow.
“You made the right choice Y/N,” Kasperi chuckled as you and William slid into his back seat. “We’re the cool car,”
You snorted, “okay Kap,”
The three cars pretty much drove together for most the ride. It was about a two-hour drive to Connor’s cottage, and you’d done it multiple times throughout the years, so you knew what to expect.
You mostly just stared out the window, and bopped your head slightly to the sound of the music coming through the cars’ speakers. The conversation between William, Kasperi, and Annika filtered through your ears but you honestly weren’t paying too much attention. Your stomach was still in knots. The thought of spending four days with Auston and being at a cottage caused your insecurities to run rampant through your head.
You had decided you wouldn’t be going anywhere near the lake, as you didn’t want to wear a bathing suit around any of the guys, let alone Auston. You were semi-disappointed that meant not being able to participate in any of the water sports, but you knew you’d be able to go boating. What about room arrangements? Connor only had five rooms and a pull-out couch. Knowing your luck, you’d end up on the lumpy sofa bed. You sighed just thinking about it.
“So Y/N,”
Turning your head away from the window, you looked towards Kasperi’s blonde girlfriend, who was looking at you intently.
“Oh here we go,” you heard Kasperi sigh, earning a chuckle from the boy sitting next to you.
“You and Auston huh?” She asked, raising her eyebrows and sending you a grin. You groaned and turned back away. You didn’t want to hear what she had to say.
“Annika!” Kasperi chided, sending her a look and she pouted, “What? It was just a question,”
You sighed and decided to play along, “what about it?”
“Well how long have you liked him?” she asked, blinking her big blue eyes towards you.
“Is it that obvious?” you questioned, snapping your head back in defeat.
“At least he’s clueless,” William said, patting you on the thigh in comfort.
“I think it’s cute,” Annika smiled, “you’d be the lovable, dorky, odd couple,”
As her words sunk into you, the feeling of utter dread seeped back into your body. You knew she didn’t mean it in a rude way, but it still hurt regardless. “I see,”
“Y/N,” William sighed, knowing exactly where your thoughts were going. “She didn’t mean it like that,”
“Oh no! I didn’t mean it in a bad way! It’s just that the girls Auston typically go for aren’t exactly like you,” she explained, “as in like you’re not his type. Oh, crap, no I mean, I just,”
“Annika!” Kasperi scolded again, and she firmed her lips together.
“It’s fine,” you finally voiced, bringing your knees up to your chest and staring back out the window at the passing forest terrain, “it’s not like she’s wrong,”
“Y/N,”
“We’re almost here anyways, it’s the next left,” you spoke, hoping to end the conversation.
As Kasperi pulled up onto the long gravel drive way, you smiled slightly at the familiar sight. The Brown Family Cottage looked as good as ever. The beautiful home had a long balcony that stretched around the front, and held a path that led down to the small beach. The cottage also came with a newly finished boat house, that held two boats and a few different seadoo’s. The best part however, was that you could go up onto the top of the structure, and either sun bathe, or star gaze, whichever met your fancy. The beach was complete with the long dock that stretched out past the boat house, and led to the deeper water.
“Wow,” William breathed out from next to you, and you flashed him a smile as you both made your way towards the cottage home. Carrying your bag in, you set it down onto the long table.
Once you walked in, you immediately found yourself in the kitchen and dining room area. Further in sat the entertainment area, which included a flat screen, a sound system, and a piano, along with the wood-stone fire place. Past that, was the rec-room. Memories of playing mini-stick hockey with Connor made their way through your head. You used to spend countless hours on rainy days playing in there.
To the left of the main room, held the long hallway which led to the five different bedrooms. There was the very large master, two suites, and then two regular sized rooms. There was one bathroom as well, but it was mainly for the two bedrooms that didn’t come with their own ensuites.
“I call master!”
You were pushed to the side when Mitch zoomed past you. Turning back, you almost ran into Auston’s chest, who had clearly followed his hyperactive teammate through the front door. You opened your mouth to speak but closed it as Connor’s girlfriend ran past the both of you.
“Mitchell Marner, it does not work like that!” Madison screeched as she chased after him, wanting to claim her room.
Auston chuckled softly as you suddenly heard a loud 'ow!’ echo from down the hall.
“Y/N, you can just use your normal room, okay?”
Grabbing your attention, you nodded towards Connor and walked past Auston, tracing back your steps to collect your bag. You were inwardly thrilled you were getting your own room. No lumpy sofa-bed for you!
About twenty minutes later, you were lounging in the living room with Morgan and William on either side of you. Once the room arrangements had finally been decided, everything seemed to be going smoothly.
“I just don’t get why I have to be on the couch,” Mitch muttered, as he walked in to join us, taking a seat on the small sofa across the room.
“We all drew straws Mitch, fair is fair,” Auston said, taking a seat next to him.
Auston, William, and Morgan would be sharing the other remaining bedroom, which came with a double bed and a bunk bed. Leaving poor Mitch on the sofa.
“But Y/N gets that entire room to herself,” Mitch whined, “it’s a queen-sized mattress, she doesn’t need all that space,”
You suddenly felt bad. He wasn’t wrong, you didn’t need all the space but you wanted your privacy, which was precisely why you were given your own room in the first place.
“Maybe one of the guys will let you cuddle?” You said, and the two boys on either side of you and Auston all suddenly looked upwards, avoiding yours and Mitch’s gaze.
“Well don’t you all volunteer at once,” you laughed sarcastically.
“Who’s ready for the lake!”
The five of you all turned your head towards Madison, who had come out of the master suite in her bright bikini. William whistled low causing you to whack him hard in the gut.
“I’m going to take the boat out too, so if you want to join, now would be the time,” Connor added, walking in behind her.
“Nah, Lannah and I are going to go tan,” Madison then told her boyfriend, and flashed a grin when Zach’s girlfriend also came into the room in her bathing suit.
Connor rolled his eyes as the two walked past him and out towards the beach area.
“I’ll come,” you spoke up, causing Connor to send you a grateful grin. You knew you wouldn’t have to go into the water, and you always loved boating with your best friend.
“Anyone else?” Connor questioned, as you stood up to join him.
“I think I’m going to take a nap, jet lags killing me,” William then said, stifling a yawn.
“Mitch and I wanted to go fishing off the dock,” Morgan explained, while Mitch nodded.
“We ready?”
Zach then appeared into the room with his swim shorts on and his sunglasses perched on the top of his head.
“Auston what are you going to do?” Connor then asked the younger boy and he shrugged, “I guess I’ll come with you guys,”
“Sweet, now let’s go,” Zach said, moving towards the door. You chuckled and walked beside Connor as you followed the older boy down to the lake. You could hear Auston’s footsteps trailing behind as the four of you went down to the boathouse.
“You can actually drive this thing, right? Like legally?”
Connor scoffed while you just chuckled. “Yes Zachary, I can,” he bit out, as you all made your way down the dock and towards the boat.
“I’m so excited,” you grinned. Just thinking of the wind in your hair and the light mist from the lake made feel right at home. Connor just sent you a knowing smile.
Once you reached the boat, Connor leaped into the water vehicle, while Zach shakily stepped in from off the dock. Auston followed Connor’s lead, his long legs allowing him to hop in easily.
Crouching down, you gripped the edge of the dock, and placed one foot down into the swaying boat.
“Here, take my hand,”
Looking up, you flashed Auston a grateful smile and took his hand, as he helped you safely into the boat. “Thanks Auston,”
“No worries,” he shrugged, sending you a small smile.
“Hey Y/N, would you mind untying the ropes for me?” Connor then asked, as he pulled the buoys into the boat while Zach had taken a seat in the passenger chair, pulled his shades down, and placed his feet up comfortably onto the small dash.
“Princess here has already gotten comfortable,” Connor pointed out, snickering at his teammate causing Zach to just simply flip him the bird.
“Yeah sure,” you smiled, stepping back towards the edge of the boat and untying the three knots keeping your boat at bay.
Once you’d untied the ropes, you waited for Connor to start the motor before you pushed off from the dock, allowing the boat to float out into the open water.
As Connor pulled out of the small bay, you took a seat at the head of the boat, opposite Auston who himself was already staring out around the lake.
You passed by many small islands and lots of other gorgeous cottages. You were heading to the marina to get some gas to bring back for the weekend to fuel the boat and the seadoo’s. It was a twenty-minute ride out to the small marina, which was located on the other side of the lake.
Staring out into the sparkly blue water, you adjusted your hat and placed your fly away strands behind your ears. Connor and Zach had fallen into their own conversation but you were having a hard time hearing them due to the sound of the water coupled with the loud revving coming from the motor.
“So how many times have you been up here?”
Turning to look back at Auston you shrugged, “I probably couldn’t count, Connor used to drag me up here all the time when we were little,” you explained, “we’d come out three or four separate times during the summer,”
Auston nodded, “must’ve been nice,”
“Yeah, it was,” you grinned to yourself. “It was a little escape from everything,”
“I can see the appeal,” Auston spoke, as he looked back out at the surrounding scenery, “now I know why everyone in Canada seems to be obsessed with cottage country,”
“Well when you’re living in the city all year, its nice to come out here and just unwind. Get back to reality, right?” you said, curving your lips upwards.
Auston smirked, “Yeah, I think we all need a bit of that,”
Once you arrived at the marina, you stood up and helped Connor properly connect to the dock. As you began retying the ropes against the dock you smiled to yourself once you realized Auston had also stood and was tying the rope next to you. By the time you had finished your one, Auston had completed the other two. You were surprised to say the least but you just shrugged it off.
The four of you hopped up onto the dock and walked down to the gas meter. Connor had brought four gas canisters that needed to be filled, so you each carried one. While you waited for the marina employee to fill the canisters, you stayed with Connor while Zach and Auston walked into the convenience store to grab some drinks.
As you stood tapping your foot up against the wooden dock, Connor conversed with fuel attendant. Your eyes trailed around your surroundings, looking at all the different people and the different boats that were around. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as busy as you thought it’d be for a Friday afternoon, but you supposed it was better for you. You usually had to wait for your turn in line to buy gas so it was a pleasant surprise when you found the line was empty.
Turning around to look back out onto the water, your eyes widened suddenly.
“Shit!”
Running back down the dock, you heard Connor question you while you ran away, “What? Y/N What’s wrong- Oh fuck!”
Connor’s boat obviously hadn’t been properly secured and had begun floating away. Even though it hadn’t gotten too far, it was well enough away from the dock. You could hear your friend’s heavy footsteps trailing after you as you sprinted to the end of the wooden platform. Without thinking, you took your phone out of your front pocket and dropped it down onto the dock safely and kicked your flip flops off before you dove into the water.
Your nerves screamed within you as your body hit the ice-cold lake water. Kicking your legs, and sending you upwards, you took a huge breath as you popped up to the surface.
“Shit that’s cold,” you cried out as you pushed on, hoping to get used to the water’s temperature sooner rather than later. Because you were in such a deep part of the lake, it was much cooler than the water back at the cottage.
“Y/N!” Connor called out to you, but you put your head down and began swimming forward, your arms and your legs moving as fast as they could.
“What the hell?! What happened?”
That was Zach, who had clearly witnessed the commotion.
As you kept swimming ahead, your limbs were beginning to get tired. It seemed that even though you were swimming further and further out, the boat just kept drifting away. You were determined to catch it, but you weren’t sure if you were going to have the strength or the energy to push it back. It was too big for you to be able to do it on your own. You figured you’d have to climb in and either drive it or paddle back.
“Are you okay?!” Connor yelled out to you, and you turned back slightly and gave him the thumbs up.
Once you finally caught up, you reached up to grip the side of the boat to try and pull yourself up and over the edge. You grimaced as your arms cried out for you to stop. You typically weren’t even able to pull yourself up out of a pool without using stairs let alone a boat. But you were bound and determined this time, and despite the pain and fatigue you were able to put your foot up onto the side and lift your body up and over the edge.
Rolling over, you landed onto your back and placed your hands onto your stomach. Breathing in and out deeply you sighed and closed your eyes, trying to catch your breath.
“Y/N!”
Sitting up, you stood shakily and looked back towards the dock. Auston had now joined the others and him, along with Connor looked extremely concerned where as Zach looked absolutely stunned you’d been able to swim out that far.
“Just take a minute!” Connor told you, “make sure you catch your breath!”
Sending him another thumbs up, you keeled over and placed your hands onto your knees, making sure to ventilate properly. Taking another deep breath, you then walked down to the end of the boat. Looking at the ignition system, you groaned when you noticed Connor had taken the keys with him, leaving you no choice but to use the spare paddle that was lying in the back near the motor.
Picking the wooden oar up, you took a wide stance and began paddling the boat back to the dock. You winced as your arms continued to throb, but you knew you couldn’t stop. About five minutes later, you were only about fifty feet out from the dock. Noticing you struggling, Connor took action.
“I’m coming Y/N!” Connor then proclaimed, as he stripped his shirt off and jumped into the water, leaving Zach and Auston behind.
Popping up, he took quick strides as he made his way out to you. Groaning from pain and from his weight, you helped Connor roll over into the boat. Pulling him in you let out a large sigh of relief. As he walked over towards the driver’s seat you plopped down square onto your bum, and tossed the paddle away.
“Please tell me you brought the keys,” you wheezed out, as you laid back down onto the floor, and Connor chuckled, “I’m not that dense Y/N,”
“Thank god,” you sighed, closing your eyes and feeling a sense of relief when you heard the boats motor turn on.
You sat up when you felt Zach and Auston jump into the boat. Thankfully, they were kind enough to load the boat.
“Y/N, that was really fucking cool, like totally badass,” Zach admitted, and you rolled your eyes, “thanks Hymy,”
“Here, I made sure it stayed safe,” Auston said, as he pulled your phone out of his hoodies pocket. You sent him a thankful smile.
“I need a beer,” you groaned out, as you slowly lifted your body up off the floor, and fell down onto the leather passenger seat.
“You need a medal,” Connor joked back as he turned the boat around to begin to head back to the cottage.
“What the hell happened anyways? I thought you tied the boat down Y/N,” Zach then questioned.
You shrugged, shaking your head, “I thought I did,”
“It was my fault,” Auston then spoke up, “I didn’t tie it down properly, which was probably why Y/N’s knot got loose.”
You knew he was right. He was spot on. But you weren’t blaming him, you should’ve double checked.
“Accidents happen,” you sighed, trying to make him feel better, but he shook his head, “I should’ve been the one to swim out all that way though, not you,”
“It was instinct, I didn’t have time to think or place blame Auston, I just saw the boat floating away and I acted, don’t worry about it,” you explained and he nodded, but turned his body away from the three of you.
Zach waved his hand, silently telling you to ignore him, but you couldn’t help but pout slightly. You didn’t want him feeling guilty.
By the time you got back, everyone immediately questioned why you were sopping wet. Connor had dried off quicker due to him only wearing his swim trunks, where you were still wearing your full outfit.
“I think I’m just going to go lay down,” you spoke up once you all had gotten back onto the beach.
Everyone seemed to understand, and you headed up to the cottage. Shrugging your flip flops off, you went into the bathroom and stripped yourself of your soaking clothes. Using one of the many bath towels under the sink, you dried yourself with the fluffy material, and hung your clothes over the side of the tub.
Pulling your hair out of its pony tail, you grimaced when you noticed how knotted it was. Exiting the bathroom, you walked into your bedroom and closed the door quietly. Grabbing your hair brush, and dropping your towel, you stood in front of the vanity’s mirror and attempted to brush through your tattered hair.
You screamed out in frustration, and slammed your brush down onto the vanity when the knot in your hair just seemed to get worse and worse. You didn’t have the energy or patience to deal with it right now. You figured you’d just go have a nap and then go shower afterwards. A thick glob of conditioner was sure to do the trick.
Suddenly without warning two quick knocks rapped against your door and just as you were about to speak, you squeaked instead when your bedroom door was thrown wide open. You reached back to grab your towel, but it was already too late, the damage had already been done.
Starring wide eyed, you took a step back as Auston Matthews stood in your doorway, his eyes surprised, but not shocked as you thought they would be. You were shocked enough for the both of you. He licked his lips as he watched you, and you shook your head.
“Auston!” you screamed, wanting him to get out.
He didn’t respond, as his eyes instead trailed up and down your barely-covered body. Your heart was rapidly beating and your throat had gone dry. You were beyond embarrassed. You were absolutely mortified.
“Auston! Get out!” you squeaked out again, this time getting his attention.
But rather than turn around and leave, Auston shocked you by stepping fully into your bedroom. His brown eyes never left yours, and you suddenly recognized the look he was giving you. You took a shaky breath and gulped, this wasn’t happening. You then took another step back, as Auston slammed your bedroom door closed, and stared you down.

Birthday Shenanigans · Karlie’s 25th Party
Date / Time / Location : Thursday August 3, 2017 / 1:30PM / Seguin Residence, Dallas, TX Background Info : Sarah was dating Jamie. Now Jamie is dating Willa. Thrown together to celebrate Karlie’s 25th birthday, things get a little out of hand. Featuring : Willa Holland, Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, Taylor Swift & Karlie Kloss-Seguin ( @fckwilla @tylrsgn @sosojamiebenn @so-taylorswift @angelkarliekloss ) TRIGGER WARNING : NONE
Sarah: Sarah knocked on the front door but a twist of the knob told her that it was open. The house she was in front of was foreign to her; since she had disappeared from her friend’s lives, Tyler and Karlie had moved houses. They’d also had a baby but that was a whole other thing. It was strange to her how life had just carried on in her absence...even though she knew it shouldn’t have surprised her. Letting herself into the foyer, she called out for her friends, following the sound of laughter and voices into another part of the house, finding many familiar faces gathered around the kitchen island: Tyler was holding TJ, Karlie had a plastic crown atop her head and a feather boa around her neck, Taylor was poised like a high fashion model chatting with Willa, and standing behind the tiny brunette, tattooed arms wrapped around her, was Jamie. Sarah always had been the last to the party. “Hi all,” she announced, a big plastic smile plastered on her lips as she approached, her purse hanging from one shoulder and a giant wrapped gift balanced in the opposite hand. She placed the gift on the counter before making her rounds, giving out hugs to her people she hadn’t seen in months--moving along rather quickly when it came to Willa and Jamie--before grabbing an empty bar stool between Taylor and Tyler, grabbing Theo out of her dad’s arms.
Willa: Spending time in Dallas wasn't as bad as Willa had stated months ago. Sure, it wasn't busy and crazy like Los Angeles but it was nice. Though the company and having one of her best friends near by was a huge brownie point for Dallas. They had arrived less than an hour ago, late because Myles had decided on splashing Willa during his bath, to the point the brunette had looked like she had gotten into the bath herself. Regardless, she had still arrived before Sarah and she wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing considering their conversation the previous day. Willa knew it wouldn't be easy. She had sort of been in Sarah's place once upon a time, but she also didn't want to lose a friend. She felt like the two could work things out like she and Emily had-- Minus the punch she had threw at the blonde. They were friends before and in Barcelona it all had looked to be fine. But then Willa decided to open her mouth about Auston-- only because she was looking out for Sarah, and ruined everything. Chatting with Taylor over what they had been up to lately, Myles in her arms, she hadn’t noticed Sarah until she spoke, her eyes going to the girl. "Hey." she had noticed how fast Sarah has passed by her and something in her gut told her things would not go well as she had hoped.
Tyler: When Sarah came in, Tyler could feel the bit of awkwardness, know what had happened the last weekend, so seeing the small brunette, Tyler was a little taken back as his daughter was swept out from his arms, but he couldn’t be mad, seeing Sarah with her made him smile a bit. Even though it was almost nap-time for the infant, Sarah put a big smile on the tiny girl’s face, “It’s almost like the two of you are the same size, I feel like we’ve got to set up a play date.” He was always on to try and make short jokes towards her, so this was just another time. “Alright!” Tyler said as he stood up from the barstool at the kitchen island, “It’s Queen Karlie’s birthday, and the next step it to...” Walking over to the overly large fridge Tyler reached in and pulled out a Medium size, circular cake, that was made to look like a unicorn head and all, a fondant horn coming up to the top. Tyler pulled a used 2 and 5 candles, left over form his own 25th birthday and stuck them in the top of the cake. He was quick to grab the long neck lighter from the same drawer and lit the candles. “Sing happy birthday.”
Taylor: Taylor was tired, having recently flown over from London in order to be at the little gathering, but it was always worth it. She was in her element, surrounded by familiar faces as she chit-chatted to Willa, her attention shifting sideways as Sarah entered the room. “Hey, stranger!” she greeted her friend who she really didn’t see often enough, returning the hug. She took Theo’s little hand in her own, playing with her gently. Taylor was unable to not coo over the adorable angel whenever she was in reaching distance. Her attention shifted once again as the cake was brought out, reaching into her bag to pull out her camera as she prepared to get a shot of Karlie blowing out her candles. When they were lit and she could see Tyler was ready, she started off the singing. “Happy birthday to you..”
Sarah: “You’re such an a-s-s-h-o-l-e,” Sarah said to Tyler, spelling it out so as to censor herself in the presence of little ears. The short jokes had always rolled off her back but she would be lying if she said she hadn’t missed it; for a moment, things felt like old times...save for the fact that her then-boyfriend had his arms around someone else. Myles had grown a foot since she’d seen him last and, in Sarah’s opinion, was looking more like his dad with every passing day. Busying herself with the squirming angel in her arms, Sarah was thankful for the welcomed distraction that TJ was providing which prevented Sarah from having to make awkward small talk with certain people at the opposite end of the marble kitchen island. “Oh my god,” Sarah said, her eyes lighting up once she had a moment to catch up with Taylor. “I feel like it’s been ten years since I got to see your perfect face, darling.” Their chat was cut short by Tyler revealing the birthday cake from the fridge. Once the group had finished their song--obviously led by the Queen of Pop Taylor herself--Karlie blew out her candles and everyone cheered for their guest of honor. “This house is beautiful, you guys. So grown up and sophisticated,” Sarah said, her gaze set on Karlie and Tyler as they worked together to serve up the unicorn cake.
Willa: Willa's eyes widen as she took a look at the cake and quickly tried to not burst out in laughter. Tyler sure wanted Karlie to never forget this birthday. Sending him a look, she couldn’t help but lean slightly backwards to whisper to Jamie about the cake. It was just very amusing and she wasn't going to let Tyler live this down. A unicorn cake. Epic. Singing happy birthday, she took Myles hands in her own and clapped, smiling when the little boy took upon himself to let out some noises of his own. As Karlie was cutting the cake, she couldn’t help but make her way towards her best friend's husband. "A unicorn cake? Do I even want to know where the inspiration came from?" She wiggled her eyebrows at the male, letting out a laugh and playfully moving her son away when he tried to reach for Tyler "Myles what have i told you. Tyler is ew, you can only be nice to Karls and TJ. I swear the nice Amell genes will be the death of me."
Tyler: After they finished singing Happy birthday, Willa approached with Myles who reached out for him, and even though Willa told him 'Tyler is ew’, he still couldn’t help but make a face to make the child let out a smile and a completely random noise out of his excitement, “If I’m so ‘ew’, then why can I make him smile? Future Husband to TJ, so he’s becoming best friends with his future father in law?” He stifled a laugh remembering about her asking about the cake, “Girls like Unicorn... and the Baker said it would be perfect for our birthday girl, I didn’t chose it, the baker did, and she’s the same woman who did Karlie’s Mother’s Day cake as well.” Smiling, the hockey player turned his attention back to Sarah, picking up Theo from her arms, “I’ll give her back eventually, but I think it’s about nap time.” as if on cue, the little girl yawned and rested her head on Tyler shoulder. He turned to his wife, handing her their child, he quickly kissed Karlie on the lip, “How about, you get her down for a nap, and we’ll get all the stuff ready for the real party?” He asked the platinum blonde, who nodded.
Taylor: All too often at these events, Taylor went into professional photographer mode. She cherished memories and moments far too dearly to allow them to slip through her fingers without getting caught in a photo first. As they collectively sang happy birthday, Taylor made sure she got the picture just at the moment that her best friend blew her candles out. She cheered with everyone else, “I feel like this is going to be the best picture ever taken of you Karls. The crown.. the unicorn.. it’s just exquisite..” she joked around, forever appreciative of how goofy her friend was. When Tyler spoke of Theo’s nap, Tay put her camera down on the countertop and wiggled off of the barstool. “I’ll go, too. But when I’m back, we’re having a proper catch up,” she told Sarah, nudging her gently before making her way out of the room with Karlie.
Sarah: “Nononooo. C’mon man, not cool! She can sleep when I’m gone,” Sarah said jokingly as she allowed Tyler to scoop up his daughter before handing her off to Karlie. “I want to be on nap duty. I’m forever jealous that you stole godmother title away from me, you b-i-t-c-h!” Sarah yelled lovingly to Taylor as the two leggy blondes disappeared from the room to put Theo down for a nap. Turning back and quickly realizing who was now left in the kitchen-Tyler, Willa, and Jamie-Sarah definitely wished she was the one putting the baby down for a nap. “Well,” she said, her hands clenching into fists under the counter and out of sight as she tried in vain to alleviate some of the stress that was balled up inside her. This was the moment she had been dreading and had been hoping to avoid. But alas, her life never worked out that well. “It really is a beautiful place, Ty. You done good, kid,” she echoed, finding it impossible to think of a topic of conversation. “But what inspired the move? Annoying neighbors?” The jab had slipped out before she even realized it; sending a quick glance toward Jamie (the first time she had actually looked at him since arriving), Sarah smiled hoping it would lessen the bitch factor that even she could hear in her voice.
Willa: "Who says he's smiling? He might just be mocking you..." Willa narrowed her eyes at her her son's Future father-in-law, as Tyler liked to call himself. Upon hearing his explanation on the cake, she was about to lose it "I'm sorry did you just say that girls like unicorn? You're something else, Seguin." Not being able to keep it together, Willa bursted out in laughter, shaking her head. She watched as TJ was passed to Karlie and waved at the baby when they passed by her "Bye TJ! Have a nice nap!" It was after Karlie and Taylor were gone that she realized who was left in the kitchen. Just like that, it felt awkward. To distract herself, she sat Myles on a kiddie chair and gave him some of his toys she had brought so he could distract himself. She was also low-key praying to the Gods for Karlie and Taylor to come back quickly. Hearing Sarah's remark, she looked up and her eyes meet Jamie's before she focused on Sarah. It was obvious she throwing a dig at her ex-boyfriend. But Willa was not going to get in the middle of that.
Tyler: Tyler felt like he still had to defend the cake, but in the end, he knew it was going to be a waste of time, “My sisters like unicorns, so I’ll leave it at that.”, his voice was stern, and he narrowed his eyes at Willa, “Karlie loved it, didn’t she?” He couldn’t let it go, that was until Sarah broke the awkwardness, or at least, she tried. “What inspired the move? Well, my address was on the internet, so a lot of people were driving by and it was a little too creepy.” He leaned back onto the wall of the kitchen counter, “And since we were thinking about starting this little family of ours, we thought it’d be safer in the long run... and it’s a bigger house,” He then opened the curtains in front of the window, and pointed to his backyard, “Did you see that pool?” he let out a laugh before turning back to the guest in this house, at that point he realized what she mean by ‘annoying neighbors,' the tension between the now 4 of them seemed to have gotten thicker, “So...” he started to try an make small talk, his least favorite thing to do, “How about that weather?”
Sarah: “I for one /love/ the cake. I think it was a homerun,” Sarah said as she licked some frosting off her tip of her finger; her eyes once again found Jamie’s as she did it and sent a small smile his way. It felt weird to agree with Tyler as their relationship often put them on opposite sides of any debate just for the sheer fun of debating and saying the other person was wrong. But if it meant putting herself separate from Willa, that’s what she would do. Sarah laughed and agreed with Tyler as he told his story, acting as if they were the only two in the room, trying to get the mental image of Willa leaning back to whisper whatever it was she had whispered into Jamie’s ear out of her head...although she was sure that would be forever burned in her brain. And that look Willa had shot him as Sarah had been speaking...fuck her. Sarah was too busy fuming to respond to Tyler’s weak attempt at getting a neutral conversation going so the silence continued to sit all around them, the awkwardness building up into actual pressure like a bomb waiting to go off. And then it did. “You’re so quick to defend yourself over text message from thousands of miles away but now that we’re face to face, what? Not much to say, Wills? I mean, god, you threaten me in a text but now all you can do is shoot little looks over to your boyfriend while I’m talking? Clearly you have something to say about me so say it to my fucking face. I’m all ears.”
Willa: At the sound of Tyler's lame remark, Willa's eyes widen and she shoot him a look clearly asking him what the fuck was he thinking. Everyone knew that the weather card was the oldest and worst of them all. It didn't look long for Sarah to start biting her head off. Did Willa want to say something earlier? Sure, but she knew with would end up like this and last thing she wanted was to make a scene with Karlie in the room. Especially on the blonde's birthday. But was she going to stand there and let her talk? Nope. "I believe you know it takes two to talk, Sarah. Don’t say you want to chat about the weather, because that is just.. Bad." A laugh escaped her lips as she mention the threat "Okay let me clarify something-- I wasn't threatening you. I was warning that if you pulled some shit on me, I wasn't going to keep it quiet." She took a step towards Sarah, raising an eyebrow. "Forgive me if i can't look at someone without you thinking i'm planning your murder i mean come on, Sarah. It's not all about /you/. There, said it. Not all about you, and these remarks of yours? A sixteen year old can pull better ones."
Tyler: Tyler dropped his shoulders and looked at the women in front of him, realizing the two were exchanging pretty harsh words, Tyler moved himself so that he was standing between the two women, unsure of what their tactic would be next. He glanced over at Myles, who was gumming on his toy, with no care in the world, and at that moment, Tyler wished he was Myles, “God damn it girls,” He put his hands up between the two, “I know Karls and Taylor are putting Theo down, but can we please not ruin this day.” He didn’t know what was going to happen next, but for one quick moment, he exchanged looks with Jamie who just let out a heavy sigh, he could read that today wasn’t going to fully go the way he wanted, he backed out from between the two woman, angling himself behind Sarah, just in case he had to rip the two a part, maybe they just needed to talk... or yell it out.
Sarah: As Willa spoke, Sarah felt Tyler’s hand on her slender shoulder as if he was physically trying to keep her grounded and in her seat. Shrugging out from under his grasp, the small actress slid off from where she was perched on one of the tall barstools tucked halfway under the counter, matching the step forward that Willa had taken, cutting the space between them in half. “I’m not trying to pull shit, Willa. I’m only trying to clear the air. It’s you and that give-no-fucks, queen of the land bitch attitude of yours that turns everything into a fight. It’s not what I’m saying, it’s how you’re interpreting it.” In this moment, Sarah had forgotten that Tyler, Jamie, and Myles were even in the room; she was seeing red and all she could see was Willa. “No, it’s not about me. This is about you. You and your shitty decision making and lack of loyalty to your friends. Is he really /that/ good of a lay that you would just throw our friendship down the fucking drain without a second thought?” Taking yet another step forward, there was now only approximately six inches between the two women. “Does it feel good, Wills? Fucking my leftovers? For the second time, I mean.” She hadn’t been planning to bring Robbie into this but right now, Sarah was so livid, she wasn’t afraid of swinging below the belt.
Willa: She was clenching her fists, clearly getting way too annoyed at Sarah. "Clearing the air?? You're throwing a fucking fit on Karlie's birthday! What does that say about you? I thought we had cleared the air in Barcelona, you said everything was fine then! If you wanted to bitch out at me so badly why didn't you, huh? Were you what... Scared of me? How else am i supposed to interpret stuff when you use that tone of voice huh?! You think i don't notice it? Get a grip." Willa rolled her eyes, throwing her hands up in the air. "I already told you-- This wasn't planned!!! It happened and then it was too late, what the fuck do you want me to do, ask the genie to go back in time? I don't regret it. None a bit. I already apologized and admitted i should have spoken to you right after it happened the first time. You were gone, your phone was off. No seriously, i don't know why i'm explaining myself, you won't listen." Willa raised an eyebrow when Sarah brought up Robbie. Of course, it wouldn't be Sarah if she didn't do that. Did she even remember that her ex was in the room? Probably not. Suddenly she bursted out in laughter, right in Sarah's face. "Wait a second. You think i got involved with Robbie after you? Newsflash, when you decided to hit that up i had already done it... Quite a few times. Really its amusing how you just went ahead and used my ex to get to me but it backfired. I was already hooking up with Robbie. Super casual but was. Not to mention you're talking about the father of my kid. Show some respect." Willa gave her a smile, clearly fake.
Sarah: “Get out of my face, Willa, I swear to god...” Sarah muttered, closing the tiny amount of space between them until they were face to face. “I lied, alright?!” Sarah said, her voice so loud that it was practically a full blown yell. “I was caught completely off guard by you and your fake ass apologies and explanations. What was I supposed to say?! I hadn’t even processed the fact that one of my best friends was fucking my ex behind my back! It’s 2017, Willa, there’s way to get the message to me even if I’m off the grid dealing with a fucking health issue. Oh, I’m listening. You’re just giving me a bunch of bullshit to listen to!” Sarah listened as Willa ranted about hooking up with Robbie, rolling her eyes at it all. “Well he must have been /reeeeal/ satisfied with you if still had to get off with me.” Had someone told her she would ever ben in a place where she would be openly talking about cheating on Jamie with Jamie in the same room, she would never have believed it. But she wasn’t thinking; she was just yelling. “The father of your kid, huh? And where is he now?” Sarah said, sarcastically looking around just to drive home her point before putting both hands on Willa’s chest and shoving her backward pretty hard. “I told you to get out of my face!”
Jamie: Jamie stood there in disbelief that the two girls were fighting at Karlie's party. To be honest he was actually quite upset. He looked over at Tyler with a 'sorry' look on his face. Even though it was kind of entertaining. Jamie never thought in a million years that this would be happening, especially with Sarah being gone for so long. "Ladies, stop." Jamie finally decided to bud in. "We're here for Karlie. Not who's fucking who. Get over yourselves and enjoy this for Karlie. Who deserves this. Not to mention the mother of my little peanut. Are you seriously going to fight over this bullshit?" His tone went sharp and his eyes going back and forth between the two girls who were clearly on rocky terms. Jamie turned to Sarah and tried to find something to say before he went on a ramble. "Get over it. If you're going to fight her, take it outside." He knew fights inside weren't the greatest, thinking back to when he punched Auston in the bar, leading to the police showing up. It was a little different than public, but it was still inside. "Get over the fact that I'm hooking up with Willa. I'm not the one that disappeared. I tried to wait. But a man in love can only do so much and he has to move on. I'm sorry it had to be someone you knew."
Tyler: Tyler walked over to Jamie, putting a hand on his chest, before transferring it to his shoulder, he let out a sigh, feeling the anger radiating off the girls, and he knew that no matter what Jamie said, it wasn’t sinking in. Moving over, once again, Tyler found himself between the girls, he sternly put his hands on a shoulder or each of them, “You two can sit here and compare your dicks, but you two are in /my/ house, at Karlie’s fucking birthday, and you want to fucking fight?” Before he could say anything else, the girls were at it again. Taking a step back, and pushing himself against the counter, he glanced back at Jamie.
Willa: "Fake ass apologies?! Are you fucking serious, i'm not lying!! You're the one who fucking lies about being cool with things and now we're in this situation! If you had told me from the start the truth and that you weren't cool, it would have been much different!! Bullshit, oh shut the fuck up." Willa rolled her eyes at Sarah, "That whole trick of yours doesn't get to me. I'm not the one who cheated on my boyfriend." It had been the last thing Willa had wanted to bring out, especially with Jamie in the room but she was done trying to not play dirty when Sarah was finding every opportunity to get to her. Willa looked over at Jamie, knowing he was right but this has gone too far. She wasn't going to keep her mouth shut while Sarah was attacking her. "Get the fuck out of my way, Tyler.." Willa mumbled, knowing the man in front of them could hear her. "You must be really fucking stupid if you think you can hurt me by shoving in my face i'm no longer with Robbie. It was MY call, okay?! You would know what truly happened if you had been a good friend-- Oh would you look at that, you know shit about my life because you decided on living la vida loca!" The last straw was when Sarah pushed her. "Don't you fucking touch me!" With her fist closed, Willa turned to punch the girl.
Sarah: Sarah had only paused for a moment to let Jamie speak but she didn’t really care for what he was saying, nor did she care that he wanted her to stop. What he didn’t get was that this was no longer about him--it was about Willa and what had used to be a friendship between the two women so it didn’t matter what he was going off about, Sarah wasn’t going to stop. She was going to get it all out on the table today and then maybe they could move on. Or not. Probably not. “Nothing would be different! You just said yourself you regret nothing so I highly doubt we would be anywhere else but here in this moment,” Sarah spat as Willa pushed Tyler out of the way, the larger male find a spot somewhere behind Sarah. From the moment the word ‘cheat’ had fallen from Willa’s lips, Sarah knew things were not going to end well. She had never been in a fight before but she was seeing red, hot rage pumping through every inch of her small frame and all she wanted to do was find a way to expel some of that anger...preferably by slapping Willa so hard it made her head spin around a few times. “You don’t know shit about me and Jamie. You want so desperately to be me but guess what, Willa. You’re never going to be me. I’m always going to be the one that had him first and, from the sounds of it, he seemed to only get with you because I wasn’t coming back. How does that feel? To be his second choice.” She wasn’t quite done with her sentence before the realization set in: Willa was about to straight up punch her in the face. Sarah narrowly dodged the oncoming assault as she let her body move by instinct and not coherent thought, grabbing the first thing within reaching distance. She shoved the butchered remains of the unicorn cake toward Willa, making full contract with her former friend’s face before letting it slide to the ground. There was a beat of silence as everyone comprehended what had just happened before Willa lunged at her and Sarah felt herself flying backwards...not by Willa’s doing but by a strong arm around her waist. Tyler. “Let me go! Tyler, fucking let me go!”
Willa: "I'm not going to lie and tell you i regret hooking up with him and then developing feelings for him for your sake, Sarah! To make you feel better, i'm not going to tell you what you want to hear! Fucks sake, you should feel thankful that i'm being completely honest with you!! I already apologized, explained myself and you're still being a fucking bitch who can't stop attacking me!" Willa glared at her when she started talking about the relationship she had with Jamie. True, Willa knew nothing. But she wanted Sarah to have a taste of her own venom. She didn’t want to admit that her last words did get to her, to the point the brunette tried her hardest to not look at the male that was possibly behind her. "It's not nice when its you being attacked over your relationship with you ex isn't it? Taste your own venom before thinking of bringing Robbie or any other of my ex's into this!" With her fist ready, Willa was about to punch Sarah with no regrets when the tiny brunette dodged and instead of attacking Willa right back with her own fist, slammed cake in her face. There was only the sound of pieces of cake falling before a huge silence set in. Still with her eyes on Sarah, Willa was ready to lung herself at her when suddenly a pair of arms pulled her back. She instantly knew it was Jamie, and trashed in his arms for a few seconds before his words made her stop. Breathing heavily, her eyes were still on Sarah who was yelling at Tyler. Willa couldn’t believe this had just happened, and suddenly she couldn’t help but feel awful knowing it was only a matter of time until Karlie came back and saw the state they were in.
Tyler: Before he knew it, both Tyler and and Jamie were holding the girls back, Tyler’s arms had a couple scratch marks from Sarah, as she was going against Willa, she got him a few times. With a small yank, he got Sarah even farther away putting even more room between the girls, “Okay, how about we fucking STOP.” With the harshness to the words he just shouted, a even bigger silence fell over the room, he had had enough of the whole thing, “I need both of you to either fucking clean yourselves up, or fucking leave.” He breathed in a deep breath as he let Sarah out of his grasp, no way to control his anger now, “You’re at /my/ fucking house, throwing cake, and fist at each other, this is Karlie’s birthday, and I know she can hear what the hell is going on.” He slammed his fist onto the counter top, causing the plates and silverware to bounce, “Now you either you two clean the fuck up, or get out of my fucking house.” he pointed towards the from door, about 50ft away from them, “The doors right there, and I know you can find your way out.”
Sarah: Sarah only stopped wiggling around in Tyler’s arms when his voice boomed in her ear; the harshness of his words were the only thing that snapped her back to reality. Blinking a few times as Tyler continued to yell, the tiny actress looked around as if she was coming back into herself from an out-of-body experience. Willa, covered in pink frosting, jerking out of Jamie’s grasp, the look of utter shock and disappointment of Jamie’s face, being mirrored on Tyler’s who served up an extra helping of fury along side it. She jumped when Tyler slammed his fists down on the counter top, startled by the sudden noise but allowed him to finish yelling before clearing her throat. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, fearing that if she tried to raise her volume beyond that, everyone would be able to hear her voice break as tears sprung to her eyes and blurred out her vision. Pushing past Willa and Jamie, she made a beeline for the front door, slamming it shut behind her. She tore down the driveway and plopped down on the curb, pulling up her Uber app to order a car to take her to the hotel she’d booked.
Willa: Her eyes widen in shock at the harshness of Tyler's words. Not like she couldn't blame him, Willa had known how important this day was to him and Karlie and still, she went ahead and helped Sarah in ruining it. The brunette couldn't even bare to look at either one of the males, knowing they were not only pissed at them but also disappointed in the whole situation. The moment Sarah left, Jamie let go of Willa and her eyes somehow found her son's who let out a laugh. She had gotten into a fight and almost punched someone with her kid in the room. She would definitely not be winning the Mother of The Year Award. Touching her face, she noticed Sarah had got her good with the cake and let out a sigh. "I'm sorry..." Willa spoke, looking over at Tyler. "I know this was very important to you and... Sorry.. I'm going to wash my face and then i'll clean up the kitchen." she nodded, heading to the bathroom to wash her face and remove some bits of cake that had also end up in her hair. Closing her eyes briefly, she took a deep breathe and shook her head. Walking out of the bathroom, Willa quietly made her way to the front door and opened it, finding Sarah plopped down on the curb. "Please don't make me regret this..." she muttered under her breathe as she made her way towards the brunette, sitting next to her.
Sarah: Uber had informed her that the nearest available car was about ten minutes away so Sarah had a bit of time to kill. For whatever reason, she couldn’t stop the tears from forming, every blink sending more down her cheeks. She knew she was being oh-so dramatic but she wasn’t about to stick around a party she had just single-handedly sent to shit. She would apologize to Karlie later and hopefully her friend would understand. As Sarah checked her phone, she realized someone was sitting down beside her. Probably Tyler here to cuss her out for ruining his big party. Glancing up from her screen, she realized it wasn’t Tyler. It was Willa. Immediately wiping her eyes, Sarah tried not to think how pathetic she probably looked in this moment: smeared mascara and a pink nose. “Here for round two?” Sarah asked, her voice monotone as if it was too much effort to put some pitch change into it as she eyed the other woman sitting beside her. Part of her was serious...she figured Willa had more to say on the subject, that they were just relocating their brawl to a more public location. She sighed heavily as she ran a hand through her messy hair.
Willa: She wasn't sure how long they stayed like that. Sitting next to each other in silence. Willa had noticed her teary face and let out a sigh when Sarah broke out the silence. "Believe it or not, the last thing i want to do is fight you." she spoke, her voice surprisingly calm. "Listen i... I don't know how many times i can say this, until you see that i mean every word... You know me, or at least i think you do, i'm not one to fake words, i'm blunt and i tell you what's on my mind. I'm sorry, for letting something happen that i knew would most likely hurt you when you find out. I wanted to tell you straight away, i did, but you didn't pick up the phone. You needed your time away from the world, and i get it. I know you wanted to hear this from me first and not from Tyler, but you never gave me a chance to and the moment i find out you're back-- You already knew. I don't know what you... What you want me to do... You want me to stay away from /him/? Is that what is going to make you happy and all this better? I don't know what else you expect me to do, to say..." she looked down at the ground.
Sarah: Her friendship with Willa was one of a kind and meant the world to her...she didn’t want to go back to a world where that friendship didn’t exist. Especially if the reason for their downfall was some boy. Upon hearing that Willa was willing to walk away from Jamie if it made things right between them, what was once a few tears burst out of Sarah in a choked sob. She took a moment to collect herself before shaking her head slowly. “What kind of friend would I be if I made you give up your happiness just to make me feel better?” Glancing at her cake-covered friend, Sarah sighed once again. “There’s no ending to this where I “win”,” she said, using air quotes around the word ‘win’. “Either you give him up and I’m the shitty person that made you do it or I say it’s fine and I...” Maybe it was finally time to own up to the real reason this fight had happened in the first place. “I still love him, Wills.” That confession hung between them for a beat before she continued. “And that’s the first time I’ve even said that out loud but I do. The whole time I was gone I...I don’t know. I guess I held on to a tiny hope that he was waiting for me and that we’d pick up right where we left off. And then, when I came back, I realized that wasn’t the case. And--I would be feeling the same way even if I didn’t know the girl he was with but it’s you. And it stung. And it still does.” Sarah turned so she could really look at Willa. “I don’t know how I’m going to get to a place where I’m okay with all of this. It’s gonna take time. But I know you would never ask me to give up something that makes me happy just for your sake and I can’t ask that of you, either.”
Willa: Willa had no idea what had made her say she would stop seeing Jamie if it had Sarah happy. In another situation, she wouldn't have done that. She hadn't done that when she and Hunter got back together, when he had previously been with Ashley. But at the same time, she knew how Sarah felt. She had been in her shoes before, with Emily and Colton. She knew how much it stung especially when it was one of your closest friends. "That's okay. You still loving him, i mean. It's perfectly normal. You never actually forget that person. Part of me is always going to love Colton, even if we're now back to what we used to be before we ever dated and he's happy with Caity. And Robbie... We're working on it, but i know... That i... There are people that come into your life, they mean the world to you and when things end... You feel empty, like something is missing. You tell yourself your okay, you find a way to move on but a part of you will always love them. That's how fucked up life is, i guess. That's nothing to feel ashamed of." she shrugged, looking at Sarah. "But with time you meet new people, who will help you not think about that person without you even realizing."
Sarah: As Willa tried to comfort her, Sarah began to cry yet again, cursing herself for being so emotional. “i feel so fucking lost right now, Wills. I pretend like I have everything under control and figure out and that I’m right where I want to be but I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.” She knew that Willa was right, every word of it was gospel. But forgetting someone so amazing, moving on from it all, was all much easier said than done. “I’m sorry,” Sarah said once her sobs had lessened, leaning against Willa as she tentatively rested her head on her friend’s slender shoulder. “I’m sorry for those nasty things I said to you. I didn’t mean it. Not a word. You aren’t his second choice, okay? Don’t ever think that. He’s with you because you make him happy.” Things between them would clearly take time to heal but it felt as though a weight had been lifted and Sarah could breathe again. “I really hope we didn’t fuck up our friendship too badly. I don’t know if if things will ever be the same between us but that doesn’t mean we have to be mortal enemies, right?” The duo sat in comfortable silence for a while before Sarah reached for her phone and cancelled her coming car. After all, she had a kitchen to clean up.
Willa: Wrapping her arm around Sarah, Willa squeezed her shoulders in a comforting manner, running her fingers through Sarah's hair when she rested her head on her shoulder. "It's okay, don't beat yourself up over it, okay? I'm sorry, for bringing up the cheating. It was the last thing i wanted to do, i knew how much it would hurt you and him but you definitely didn't leave me any choice. Brat." she let out a small laugh and nodded, "As do i. I mean i did punch Emily once, and we're tighter than ever. But i think time will let us know of how things are going to go, you know? Best to do now is to not push it, i knew you were going to be here and i never meant to act in a way you would find offensive or would wound you. But you're right, we don't have to be mortal enemies. You'd be a lamer one, anyways." Spotting a bit of cake on her shirt, Willa place her finger on it and smudged it on Sarah's cheek. "There, now you know how cake feels like. Let's just a deal, no more hiding things. If anything is bothering you, you tell me. This could've been avoided if you had told me the truth before." Standing up after Sarah cancelled the uber, Willa let out a groan. "I hope you know you're helping me clean that kitchen. I told Tyler i would do it before i went to clean my face but i was also hoping you would come back to help me. You killed an unicorn today, least you can do is help me when it comes to hiding the body." She spoke, opening the front door and stepping inside.
Sarah: Sarah couldn’t help but let out a small laugh, grateful for Willa’s water-under-the-bridge attitude; she needed to learn to be more like Willa. “It’s okay,” Sarah said quietly when Willa brought up Sarah’s past infidelity. “I wasn’t exactly leaving you much room to take the high road. I sort of just wanted a reaction from you at that point. And I was a completely brat today, I’ll admit that,” she said as she felt something cold smear across her cheek. “Oh my god, you’re such a bitch.” The two stood up and Sarah straightened her small sun dress, smoothing down the front with her hands. “I promise. No more secrets. We’re open books from now on. Anytime I get laid, you’ll be my first call so you are in the know,” she joked as they began back toward the house. “I’ll help you dispose of the unicorn corpse as soon as I apologize to Tyler and Karlie.” Stepping inside just behind Willa, Sarah shut the door and tried her best to smile. It would take some effort on her part but she was going to try and salvage her friendships with the people waiting inside.
