Thoughts that intrigue me: Horatio Hornblower and James Dillon United Irishmen Crisis of Conscience Crossover Event. I don't think I could pull this off but I am really intrigued by the way they would both manage to make the situation better AND worse

#they both admire each other professionally as officers but absolutely cannot be friends #hornblower refuses to let dillon pull him into dueling even though he keeps consciously and sub-consciously setting him off #for being SUCH a stickler. because he's the junior lieutenant and it's his first cruise and he likes bossing people around #hornblower is very alert and so hears dillon bribe marshall and keeps that to himself which is a horrible extra layer of intrigue #then they both get sent aboard because they both have french and jack wants to get this over with #dillon has his moment with the priest and then hornblower's like i'm double-checking his passport #and dillon's like do you doubt my attention to duty sir. and hornblower's like no. do you doubt mine #and reads the passport and dillon's literally contemplating shooting someone and hornblower does his whole diplomatic little thing #where he says something that makes it seems like dillon misread the paper or something #dillon resents him EVEN more for that.#and then idk where it would go once they brought him back but i think this would make everything 500x worse #i love that section of m&c i think it's fascinating. but what if we added in another guy #perce rambles #aubreyad #hornblower #The Creative Endeavor and other aubreyad nonsense #percy yells at cecil scott #i've had enough ideas to last me 200 years over the past two days so if you want this it's yours
