This fandom is fun because a few times a week I find myself playing the game “does this person want Nancy to be single for feminist reasons? Or do they not want her to have a partner because they think she’s too mean and nasty to ‘deserve’ one?”

#I had the misfortune of starting to read a fic #where I genuinely couldn’t tell if the author was trying to write Nancy as relentlessly mean and immature and snobbish #or if the author hated Jonathan so much #that they thought Nancy came across as sympathetic while being like #‘ugh he sucks so much for wanting a paying job and sending money to his family’#’he probably only has to because Joyce is too stupid to know how to budget’#she was also in her mid-twenties in this story #I mean. lord. I know I’ve said I find it tacky #when a fic author bashes Jonathan but has Joyce and/or Will fawn over their fave #points for consistency I guess #the premise looked interesting but it was frontloaded with pure-t crap
