people being mad that there's josie vs lizzie stuff going around again? maybe if legacies had josie face any consequences for the shit she do we wouldn't have to keep having this debate

I actually do think it can get annoying. I got a lot of asks throughout the season complaining about stuff with Josie I didn’t think was that deep, because she honestly wasn’t getting on my nerves too much. She still isn’t! Last episode just reminded of the same pattern that’s been going on since S1, and I’m sure it did the same for others, so people vented? The problem is many Josie stans are incredibly sensitive and have a worse victim complex than that girl and genuinely don’t see an imbalance in who has to take accountability writing-wise, so they start reacting like people are saying they want Josie’s head chopped off. And then Lizzie stans start rehashing stuff that happened all the way back in S1 to prove a point over and over, and it just goes in circles.

But I will say, yeah, it’s incredibly unfair to sit and watch a show where one of the characters actually gets dramatic heaps of blame, and the other... doesn’t once you hop off the internet, and pretend the latter is the same as the former. If you don’t want to see people say sometimes Josie is Wrong Too, just exit out of whatever social media app you’re on and go rewatch Legacies the television show!

They also have this annoying habit of only addressing half of the picture to make her look better. On Twitter they’re going on and on about how reading your sibling’s diary isn’t that big of a deal, which I’d agree with, except... she didn’t just read it, she ran around school telling everybody else about it (and since I saw somebody say it, no, she didn’t tell one trusted person, Hope literally said she told the witches - stop rewriting canon.)

They used to always say “uh, she was a kid when she lied about Hope spreading rumors about Lizzie’s mental illness” - erasing the fact that she never fessed up when she was older until things got so bad between Hope and Lizzie that the truth popped out and she was forced to. And even then, she literally did not apologize, she blamed Lizzie for it. On the show. On screen. And her stans ate that up! 😭

And I have seen people be incredibly dramatic about Josie! Anybody who thinks she’s even top ten in morally bereft TVDU characters has lost the plot, I don’t align with those people either. But as everybody keeps saying over and over, you can’t keep bitching every time people get annoyed about “little” things Josie does, when that’s exactly what Josie has canonically done with Lizzie. Do you think Lizzie stans enjoyed watching her say she doesn’t care about anybody but herself because Lizzie didn’t tell her about a letter she voluntarily chose not to read? Or that she deserves to experience breakdowns? But Lizzie stans vent and clock some bullshit on the show that Josie will never face consequences for anyway and suddenly it’s the end of the world. Give me a break.
