popping in randomly after almost an entire month just to talk non stop about the tsaritsa again everyone sit down.

specifically just thinking about the implications of tsaritsa's ideals originally being about love + the abandonment of those ideals to complete her goal of, presumably, destroying Celestia or whatever she's cooking up. to the point even her people don't love her and I probably don't even remember a time her ideals were of love. now it's all just ice and snow and cold.

which makes romantic fics w her even funnier because she's purposely removed this part of herself and suddenly reader walks into teyvat like they own the place (they do) and I can only imagine her reaction. angry, probably. because why you? what are you doing to her that's caused her hundreds of years of strict adherence to rejecting "love" both from others and to others to just. collapse. absolute shattering of her world and you probably don't even know it bc if nothing else she's good at hiding it. a lot of denial. tries to pick you apart and see what's makes you so different.

and oh she just hates it. she loathes it.

basically one sided enemies to lover trope because she can't stand you for a while but if you stick around she starts warming up to you and it makes it WORSE. so much worse. tries to distance herself but your just everywhere and it gets on her nerves because why does she love you? she isn't capable of love, not anymore. she thought she was.

g-d forbid one of the harbingers or PIERRO notices she'd never live it down. might even consider the implications of just killing you (she doesnt). worse if you know about it and act like a brat she will lose her damn mind

FF6 Artober Day 19: Hope

We all know the scene where Celes finds the bird on the beach, it is carrying Locke’s bandana. But how did the bandana get ON the bird? I like to think that Locke found it, saw it’s wing was injured, healed it with magic, then wrapped his bandana around its wing to set it in place.

It’s already canon that Locke is kind to animals. After the disaster at Thamasa with Kefka, when the squad is gathered around Leo’s grave, Interceptor walks in and is limping. Locke kneels next to him then says “this’ll have to do”, implying that he bandaged him up.

So now it’s the World of Ruin and everyone everywhere is suffering, and one little bird is lying broken on a street corner and no one cares. He’s all puffed up and looking for a quiet place to die. But Locke cares. He takes the time and effort to nurse Bird back to health, even using his bandana to keep that wing steady. And that little act of kindness creates a domino effect— it is what leads Celes to believe that Locke is still alive, and maybe others too, and maybe hope is not lost after all.

Moral of the story! Be kind to birds!

(Unrelated but this exact thing happened to me and my husband, we found an injured bird etc, and now that bird is our sigil, very special deep meaning)

This is incredibly self-indulgent, but there's an interesting comparison to be made here I think, between Joan as a cultural symbol and Sam as a variant on her. like her - his character also consists of ambiguities. He is both hero and monster/witch, saviour and pariah, transgressive while still fitting into the traditional mold of heroism. And because of their ambiguities, they're also both outsiders.

Joan is isolated because of her steadfast faith, and she's punished for it. She saves France as a young girl in men's clothes, hearing the voices of angels, and gets put on trial as a heretic by the very same Church that would later burn her at the stake. The very same institution to later saint her. Only in death does she get to become a holy martyr, no longer ambiguous. She is the hero with a thousand faces; Catholic saint, patriotic icon, queer symbol.

Unlike Joan, however, Sam's narrative is a horror story on failed martyrdom. He is the saint who never gets to die. His sacrifices never end in closure, not really. he's either stopped at the last moment, or retrieved from the depths of hell. He's denied the certainty that comes with dying, the nobility that comes with becoming immortalised as a memory. His faults are laid out on the altar, time and again, but he's not granted the crowning reprieve that death would afford him.

He holds onto hope and belief in others, clings onto faith in a higher power, whether that power be God or his family - his brother. He keeps faith in others in order to keep faith in himself. And he's let down over and over by that faith. His brother betrays him like a man; his visions come from a demon, the voice of God is really Lucifer in his ear. His own story turns on him like a pillory, trapping him before a jeering audience, unsympathetic to his suffering.

Sam, the heart of it all, more scapegoat than sacrificial lamb. In the end he only gets to exit the story by choosing to trust himself, and live.

Lisa won her third title in Norwegian League and second title in Champions League. Her career looked like a dream. She was just a 22 year old girl who’s winning everything she can. Despite the bittersweet end of the Olympic Games, she felt great with how her life looked like as an athlete. Right after the end of the season, Lisa decided to spend her vacation in Switzerland with Lottie. She needed to heal after the breakup and celebrate her season.

Visiting her best friend was the best idea. She and Lottie were partying almost every single weekend. Lots of wine and gossip were happening. This is exactly what she needed. Charlotte had a great idea how to make Lisa even happier. She knew that Nico was back in Switzerland for the summer break and she implemented her plan. 

Step 2: Invite Nico for the weekend.

Lottie wrote him a message with an invitation for a weekend if he will have a time to hang out with her. She hadn’t told Lisa that she invited him and Nico didn’t know that Lisa was with her. Lisa was casually making coffee for herself in the kitchen when she heard the ring bell. She went to open the door since Lottie was at work. She hadn’t expected to see Nico in front of her.

“Um, hi. What are you doing here?” Lisa asked, surprised.

“I could ask you the same question. Lottie invited me to spend the weekend with her” Nico casually said.

“She hadn’t told me that and I've basically been living with her for the past month” You joked. “Come in, do you want coffee?” 

“Sure. How have you been?” 

And this is how their conversation started. They spent the whole day sitting in Lottie’ living room catching up with their lives. They’ve been texting almost every day but this was different. Finally they could see each other and talk in person. After three years, they reunited face to face. They had plenty of laughs and learned a lot about each other. 

“Okay admit to me, why did you stop talking with me during the pandemic?” Lisa asked.

“It’s embarrassing” Nico nervously chuckled. “Maya went through my phone and she was mad that we’ve been talking. I told her that you’re my friend as much as you’re hers but she didn’t listen and I stopped. Later I wanted to reach out but I felt bad with writing to you after couple of months so yeah” 

“I knew it! I knew that’s Maya’ fault” Lisa said and Nico looked confused at her. “I was suspecting this because the same problem had Sander”

Around 6PM, Lottie got back home. The first thing she heard when she opened the door was Lisa’ laugh. She quietly went into her apartment and looked at them. They’ve been in their bubble and didn’t even notice her. She was standing in afar and watched their interaction. She could tell that they're a perfect match. After a couple minutes, Nico finally noticed her. 

“You have a lot of explanations to make” He stood up and went to hug her. 

“What? I just wanted to spend the weekend with my two friends” Lottie laughed.

“Well it would be nice if you would tell me that Nico is coming” Lisa said.

“First of all it’s my apartment” Lottie stated and made them laugh. “Also, you two look very comfy with each other so you’re welcome” She told them and went to change clothes in her bedroom.

“She’s unbelievable” Nico chuckled.

“She really is, but don’t we love her for that?” Lisa said. 

Lottie came back to them and took the wine from the cabinet. Three of them sat down on the couch and spent the evening together playing board games. Lottie was telling embarrassing stories about two of them but also watched them closely. Nico was sitting next to Lisa and their knees were touching each other. She could tell that they feel comfortable and wanted to push it even further. 

“How about going to a party tomorrow?” Lottie proposed. 

“I’m in!” Lisa said excitedly.

“Sure, why not?” Nico answered. “But I’m not keeping your hair if you’ll be throwing up, it’s your duty Lisa”

“Don’t worry, I survived worse with her” She laughed.

Lisa slept with Lottie so Nico could have a guest bedroom for himself. The next morning, three of them went out for breakfast and had an argument over who’s gonna pay for it.

“I invited you to spend time with me so I’m paying” Lottie said.

“That’s why you’re not paying” Lisa argued back. “I’ll pay”

“Not a chance, I’m paying. You invited me to be with you this weekend so I want to spoil you” Nico fought back.

“You’re our guest. You’re not paying too” Lisa answered. 

“Exactly! I’m a guest so let me pay” 

“No! I’m paying” Lisa said and grabbed her card. Lottie knew how stubborn Lisa is and just laughed. 

“Is she always like that?” Nico asked her.

“Yeah, even worse” Lottie giggled while Lisa came back to the table. 

After breakfast, the trio went to a beach to get a little sun before going to a party. They didn’t want to spend the whole day at home and the weather was perfect to chill. They had a fun afternoon of laughing and enjoying each other's company.

They got back home and started getting ready for the party. Nico was sitting in the living room and watched how the two girls were running from bathroom to the bedroom while getting ready. He was laughing at them all the time and they were sending him weird looks with each laugh. They took an uber and arrived at the club. 

Lottie dragged Lisa to the bar to order shots and Nico followed them. Since Lisa and Nico were fresh out of a breakup, they didn’t search for anyone to hook up with. They enjoyed each other's company. Meanwhile Lottie was flirting at the other end of the bar with a guy. They looked at her and she was delighted by the attention. 

“I’m leaving you babes. Me and Felix are coming back to his place so you have my apartment for themselves. Enjoy your night!” Lottie quickly said and went out with this guy.

“So what are we doing?” Lisa asked Nico.

“Since we have her place for just the two of us… I propose to come back and drink there”

“Deal, lead the way captain” Lisa joked and Nico grabbed her hand to not lose her in the crowd. She felt warm raising on her cheeks by the affection.

After twenty minutes, they were back in Lottie’ place. Lisa knew where she kept the alcohol and took it out of the and poured drink for her and Nico. They were casually chatting and drinking. They acted like really good friends and not people who just met for the second time in their lives. Both of them were pretty drunk and started talking about their exes.

“I’ll never forget when I had to fake an orgasm with Sander. That was the most embarrassing thing in my life” Lisa laughed at the memory. 

“Are you serious?” She nodded. “And he couldn't tell that you’re faking?” 

“Yeah, he was bad at detecting this but I miss the feeling you know, I miss having sex but hooking up with random men is not my thing” Lisa drank from the glass. Nico lost in a moment and kissed her. 

Lisa was shocked at first but kissed him back. The kiss was full of emotions but with time became more hectic. When she moaned, he put her tongue into her mouth.
