'A gift I will give you. For I am the daughter of Elrond. I shall not go with him now when he departs to the Havens; for mine is the choice of Lúthien, and as she so have I chosen, both the sweet and the bitter. But in my stead you shall go, Ring-bearer, when the time comes, and if you then desire it. If your hurts grieve you still and the memory of your burden is heavy, then you may pass into the West, until all your wounds and weariness are healed. But wear this now in memory of Elfstone and Evenstar with whom your life has been woven!' And she took a white gem like a star that lay upon her breast hanging upon a silver chain, and she set the chain about Frodo's neck. 'When the memory of the fear and the darkness troubles you,' she said, 'this will bring you aid.'
I know it would have been yet another ending in a movie that people complain has too many endings (which I fervently disagree on), but I really wish we could have gotten this scene in the movie. Especially since Arwen's necklace played such a huge part in the movie.

"Ada…no, I cannot believe thee, Aragorn cannot be dead. I would feel his breath leave him, feel it inside my heart.”
Arwen’s ashen grey eyes glimmered with renewed tears, upon looking at Elrond’s solemn face.
"I want to stay, wait for him once more.”
She knew what his next words were; she could read it in his eyes, normally so stern. “The light of the Evenstar will leave you, my child, it will diminish over time.”
And, so she spoke again. “…But…if he still does not show up after another month, I will heed thy’s words, and go back...to safety out of Middle Earth until the war will surely be over.”
I will always love him, though. This kind of love does not falter so easily.

Aragorn was dead, his cold body now resting on a slab, hair the colour of snowy white.
The mourning shawl she had put on hid Arwen’s teary starlit eyes. The pain she felt was unimaginable. He outlived her, a mortal to her immortality. She had turned mortal now, yes, but it would take quite a lot of years, until she would grow as old as him.
My dear Aragorn…he can now only come to me in dreams…

❝ Granddaughter, I have all the time in all ages for you. Whatever else can wait. ❞ While Arwen sat with her book in her hands, Galadriel came nearby and put a palm on her arm while sitting as well. ❝ The first elves, as you probably know Imin, Tata, and Enel awoke before their spouses, and the first thing they saw were the stars, for they woke in the early twilight before dawn. And the next thing they saw was their destined spouses lying asleep on the green sward beside them. ❞
Arwen loved how her grandmother was always willing to listen to her.
She smiled at feeling Galadriel’s palm on her arm, and she in turn, placed a hand on Galadriel’s.
She breathed an happy sigh, at the image her grandmother painted of the First Elves.
❝That sounds truly beautiful—surrounded by starlight being the first thing their eyes are bestowed with, and romantic, with their next sight being their true and cherished loved one they will spend their own personal eternity with. ❞
It hadn’t been that way for her and Aragorn, not at all—well, except sort of the last part, which she felt every time she was with him.
There had been conflicting forces, with her being a Royal Elf / Evenstar of her Sindarin people and him being a chieftain Ranger of the North—two completely different leading paths of life. Her being immortal and him being mortal, it had raised much uproar with her ada, upon first hearing about it.
Their love was too powerful to be quenched, however—they found, from each and every meeting with each other.
And, finally, she had made the most life-changing decision of her life—to be MORTAL, to stay and die with Aragorn.
Such knowledge bestowed upon her, but to HOPE was also a powerful thing.

❝ Yes? About what did you study? ❞
Ocean eyes gazed into sky blue and the golden mingled with the raven hair in the blast of the wind. The Morning and the Evenstar, the beginning and the end that together NONE could surpass.
❝ No history book can besset one who truly lived those events. Any questions that you have, ask me. ❞
"The First Elves; Imin, Tata, and Enel…"
Arwen knew how wise her dear Grandmother was, brimming with knowledge, as befit the norm of one whom was older than her, and had seen much of this World, she anticipated.
"I know—but it holds true that there is a lot of detailed History written here. And I do not wish to be bothersome with all the questions I may ask you."

The nis embraced her niece in a warm, typically grandmotherly embrace and then, continuing to smile she gazed deep within her eyes. ❝ I have missed you too. ❞ The two were fondly watched by Elrond who just stood in a corner. ❝ Were you reading? ❞ She asked further, touching her hands, sensing the skin on them and the scent of dust that her clothes carried.
The embrace brought Arwen great joy; she had missed Galadriel so, and her hugs.
She imagined that such great power that her grandmother wielded—even to rival of the Necromancer— could be quite exhausting when spent, but Lothlorien was a place where she seemed to heal.
"I was, Daernaneth. I have learnt a great deal about elvish history.”

Arwen brandishes the sword Hadhafang, starlit eyes flashing bright in the near darkness, as she faces the NazGûl. These riders were unnatural, evil killers, so completely given to greed and a slave to darkness, to the all-seeing Sauron. Yes, many others would be tempted by the one Ring, unable to resist the constant whispering that it seemed to emanate from it, but this, this was too far. The NazGûl were the prime example of corrupted souls.
"You won’t get to him/her…!" She moves in front to protect the innocent person, raven hair swinging about her.
And she spoke the Elvish incantation that her Father Elrond had taught her. It had taken years to perfect such magic, but she’d given every ounce of patience, practice, and reading to make it work. It was a great spell to make the water turn against them.
" Nîn o Chithaeglir lasto beth daer Rimmo nîn Bruinen dan in Ulaer! “
The spell took effect gradually; the first sound was the earth to seemingly rumble, then more and more waves crashing against rocks. This soon brought upon a mini avalanche of thousands of watery waves to rise up in the river, in the likenesses of horses, and crash down upon the unspeakably evil riders. This of course, would not kill them—they were near-immortal, after all—but it would slow them down.
Arwen briefly admired the powerful effect of the spell, before turning to the person she’d rescued, concern present in her eyes.
"Are you alright?"

Rarely did Galadriel ever leave her realm as when she did, dearly did her people miss her. When she went away the light in Caras Galadhon all but faded. But there was an important meeting that she had to attend to and what had to be done, was done.
She has always liked Imladris, the only place in Middle Earth that still carried tokens of her old life, as most of the population were Noldor, that still reminded her of home. Not for nothing it was called “the last homely house” for Elrond always invited within those walls not only those of her kin, but also other races.
Of course the first person she wanted to see upon her arrival was her niece. Besides her husband and her own daughter, Arwen was the one that she loved most and every time she saw her, brought joy to the nis.
❝ Arwen, fwir-nin! ❞ She greeted with the biggest of smiles at the sight of her niece.
As Arwen neared the entrance porch, and saw the familiar face of her fair Lady Grandmother, a smile slowly drew across her face, blooming greater, as she walked closer. Her book was momentarily forgotten, and her excitement at seeing such another familiar and kind presence in her life overshadowed her disappointment at not seeing Aragorn.
“Daernaneth! I have missed you…!”
Oh, it had been too long since she’d seen Galadriel. Arwen had fond memories of spending time with her, back when they were both in Lothlórien years ago.

He listened to her words carefully, letting her speak, and as the sudden silence came the corner of his lips tugged into a faint smile as he heard a sigh of relief emitting from her lips. sure, he might have lacked love in his own life, much like from his father even though it seemed like that, the noble elf knew what love was — even though sometimes he questioned it. what he saw was true love, and yet he couldn’t imagine the pain she was in, and how much he longed for him love to be there with her. how much sleep does she lose, how much time she spends in her awaken moment thinking of him, that feeling must be unbearable as he thinks of it.

"I thank you, dear Legolas. Faith is surely coming back to me that this will be true, and that we will reunite again."
Legolas’ prowess in comforting her was most welcome, as a fellow elf kind of heart.
She had gone hours of time lying down on her bed, lingering between consciousness and sleep, longing for Aragorn’s touch; to hear the gravelly and kind sound of his voice again.
She had never expected to fall in love with him, a mortal, but fall in love with him she did.
Arwen surely hoped that the white star gem of the Evenstar was still hanging around Aragorn’s neck, a light guiding him in his difficult life as a Dunedain ranger.
"I pray that the War is over? And if it does not trouble you, may I ask how you use your bow and arrow? Perhaps, teach me?"
There wasn’t a whole lot of new things left to do at Rivendell, and Arwen was curious to try something different.

➷ ❛ — I believe I have not introduced myself properly. I am Legolas, prince of the Woodland realm, son of the elf-king Thranduil. ❜ He spoke with a soothing tone, noticing the dried up tears on her cheeks. Oh, if only he could wipe them away, but it seems that Aragorn is the only one who will be able to stop her tears, and yet there is so much that he could do. Without hesitating, he sat beside her, giving her space, capturing her gaze with his bright blue eyes.
❛ — seems that your sorrow has blinded you, for you no longer can sense your loved one. Listen to the voice of your heart, listen to the trees — they speak of his name, an echo of his voice. He is well and alive. I can see him now, he wishes to hold you, his heart is longing for you. A love so strong will not be broken so easily. ❜
"It is fortunate to meet you, Legolas. I am Arwen."
Son of Thranduil… Arwen thought in wonder. He is royalty…
As he sat down beside her, she couldn’t help but be captivated by the pools of his blue eyes. They seemed to be filled with concern, and a great deal of kindness.
That was true, she had seen too much grief and sorrow during her long time that she lived. Sometimes, the knowledge that she had could be a great burden, and it was difficult to not give in into the sorrow.
She nods, listening to the next words he spoke, and closes her eyes briefly.
She breathes in and out, concentrating on the true nature of Aragorn’s presence. She smiled, as she felt a tug in her heart, and a vision formulating of Aragorn safe. “Yes…I can feel him now…”
Too true, their love had grown stronger over the years.
"I yearn for him as well, my heart sings for him at every waking hour. If only it was possible for us to meet once again…"
Arwen was a little surprised that this Legolas seemed so observant; how he knew of the powerful love she and Aragorn harboured. She supposed Aragorn must’ve told Legolas.

➷ the noble elf knew he wasn’t expected to see, but a part of him felt the need to comfort her. His elvish eyes seen many things, some things that no other elf can, but he saw grief and sadness — and that gnawed at his soul. Like a fallen leaf, she was withering, dying slowly, and he couldn’t even imagine to how much burden she must carry upon herself.
❛ — I realise that I was not expected to see, for you yearning for him, I can only provide you comfort and distraction for so long. Not even my bow and arrow will be enough, Arwenamin. ❜
soothing words, the sun had casted upon his milky skin, and as she was standing there tall like the tree — the sun danced upon his skin; he was glowing. The prince slowly approached her when the time was right, his hands locked behind his back.
Arwen’s expression fell with disappointment at seeing not Aragorn, but a fellow elf. His hair was a unique gold, shy close to white, and pointed ears that distinguished him from humans.
She had seen him once or twice before… he was present at the Council of her Father. But, she had not spoken to him yet, until now.
"It is no trouble, dear elven hanar. Is Aragorn alive? I cannot seem to sense him, at this time.”

Arwen carefully sat down on the comfortable, plush bed in her home of Rivendell, long raven hair tumbling about her shoulders as she did so.
She was pulled in, enraptured by this book that her Ada had given her. It spoke of history previously untold, a combination of Elvish history and myth. She could sense how much work was put into it, hours and hours of painstakingly researching the accuracies. The weight and gravitas of what was put into it, was truly one that was present.
There was a sound, her elvish ears pricking up, and she looked up to see Elrond standing in the doorway. “Arwen, my child…there is someone here to see you.”
She glanced up, bright eyes the colour of grey starlight, searching Elrond’s eyes.
“—I’ll be there soon, Ada.”
She folded the corner of the page she was on, so as to keep track of it. Arwen then closed the book, slightly regretting it.
She placed it down onto her bed and walked over to where she could greet the person whom wished to speak to her. There was a part of her that wished it to be Aragorn, yearned for it…

The girl looked up at the person opposite her, dazed from the collision. She’d been on her way back to Lord Tywin with fresh water, which now spattered the floor, pails strewn to the side.

She entered the woods of Mirkwood, saddled on her horse. A ride through tranquillity, she permitted herself, as she passed by it to journey back to Rivendell.
Her elvish ears twitched and pricked up suddenly, as they picked up a new sound, other than the immediate sound of her horse’s hooves clip-clopping on the ground.
Turning, her ebony hair swaying as she moved, she rode quicker, but to the source of the sound.
There, she found a fellow elf, pale white blond of hair, and lithe of body. A sense of curiosity shot through her, as she wondered what he was doing.
"I bid you good morning."
