i always feel so terrible when i see posts about indoor/outdoor cats and how letting them outside is bad for them cause its dangerous and everything. we have four cats, and three of them are indoor/outdoor. the fourth one just doesnt like to go outside anymore cause shes really old so she never does.

anyway, i always feel bad cause they're family pets and when we got them my parents didnt really know just how bad it is to let them free roam outside when they want. ive never had control over whether or not they go outside and i still dont, so theres nothing i can do about it. its why i hate it when people will get so agressive and be like "youre a fucking terrible person for letting your cats outside and i hope people steal them and give them a better home cause you fucking suck and clearly dont care about them" etc etc. like. i do care about them! i do love them very much! i do my best to keep them safe and healthy and well-cared for with all of the resources i have available to me. but at the end of the day unfortunately that does still mean that they do go outside. and that part is completely out of my control

My mother and father originally didn't want kids, but later changed their minds and had me and my sister. They say they're so glad the have us and I don't doubt their love for us, but I have seen firsthand just how much more difficult their lives have been because of us, physically, emotionally, financially, etc.

I already knew I didn't want biological children (sex-repulsed asexual), but upon realizes just how difficult it is raising children (it's often glamorized in movies and TV and stories told by my relatives) I knew that I just didn't want them overall. But of course, most people can't accept that for some reason (as if it even affects them directly). I'm lucky that my parents have always been supportive of my decisions, but so many of my coworkers and "friends" have consistently told me that I'll change my mind eventually.

One of the most common responses I get is "but you're so kind and caring, and you'd be such a good mother" because I've worked at an animal rescue since I was 6/7 years old. For some reason, people think that because I like taking care of animals (mainly cats, I'm allergic to dogs and they're a bit much for me anyway) I'll like taking care of children, which is absolutely NOT TRUE. Taking care of a few cats or having a pet cat is nowhere close to the level of responsibilty it is to take care of a human child. Not to mention, a few cats is a lot less expensive and stressful compared to human children, especially because cats don't have the same level of complex thought that humans do.

My ideal life is one in which I'd have a good job after college and a solid amount of money (not too much but enough to live comfortably on my own). I'd have 1 or 2 cats and only get married if i found a partner that I truly enjoy being around and that has the same outlook on life as me (not wanting kids).

It's not that difficult to accept that other l people's dream lives don't always involve being married with kids. I'm still fairly young (average college student age), but I truly don't think im ever going to chamge my mind, and if Im being honest, everybody telling me I'll "change my mind" just strengthens my conviction that I won't.

Now don't get me wrong, I love taking care of others, but only to a certain extent. I want to have a cat or 2, who aren't too playful and are great companions without being too much work. I want to take care of my friends when they're occasionally a little too drunk. I want to help my parents out whenever I can as repayment for all they've done for me. If I get married (not when, IF), I'd want to take care of my partner when they're sick or sad. These things are what fulfill my "urge to take care of others". There's no space for children in here, and that's not to say I hate kids, I just don't want my own.

Not to mention, I don't even think I could handle a child, people think that because I take care of cats, that somehow, I'd be great at taking care of human children and that I'd be a super loving and patient mother. But that's not true. Cats (for the most part) happen to be a lot quieter than kids, and as someone who doesn't do well with loud noises (sensory issues) I wouldn't be able to handle a baby or child screaming anytime they're hungry or angry. Cats are usually a lot cleaner than kids too, I'm able to have my cat in my tiny college dorm and have minimal things to clean up for him. I don't even have to clean the litterbox every day. With one cat, I can do it every other day, unlike children, who get very messy and honestly don't get much better even as they grow up (again, for the most part). And don't even get me started on diapers for babies.

Also, as someone with pretty severe texture issues, if a child got sticky or dirty at any point (which is often with young babies), I would not do well at all. My cat cleans himself and has actually never needed to be bathed (he's indoor only) which I prefer to having to wash a baby. Another big thing is that i don't like physical touch, which, as I've learned many times in many psych classes, is necessary for a child's development. I actively shy away from most physical touch, even with my parents, who I love very much and have a very good relationship with. I know I wpuldnt be able to give a child the physical touch they need to develop properly. These are just some of the reasons I know for a fact make me unfit to be a mother. And I haven't even started to unpack my other shit. It's to a point where even if I wanted a child, I wouldn't have them because of how poorly I would raise them.

And somehow, even after explaining all of these reasons why I don't want a child (which shouldn't even be necessary, people should just accept the fact when I tell them), people still think I'll change my mind. It's truly baffling to me how stubborn these people can be and I can't wait until I'm on my deathbed and am able to prove everyone wrong by saying "I don't regret anything, I'm glad I didn't have children".

im taking care of my cat, Tiger, whos been basically the neighborhood stray for about 6 years.

He has an infected wound on his eyelid (healing wonderfully with the help of anti biotics) and this whole process made me realize how little my neighbor, who accused us (mostly my mom, whos the one who insists on keeping cats outdoors in the first place) of being horrible owners, actually cared for this guy when she was claiming she did.

He’s covered in fleas, not even outdoor cat levels of covered, just straight up feral cat levels of covered in fleas and flea poop. somehow his sister, Kitty, who was put down last month, didnt have any fleas for YEARS despite also being an outdoor cat. Youd think the lady letting this cat sleep in her bed would notice such a flea infestation??? I bathed him mostly because his fur was sticky and absolutely reeking from him spreading the mucus from his cough and pus from his eye all over himself with every grooming but the absolute ammount of flea poop that came off of him was insane.

He’s currently on daily flea baths and anti biotics so he’s a indoor only cat for the time being. He’s timid in the house due the dogs being fairly vocal but hes getting more energetic for sure, though only staying in the bathroom where im treating him with occasional wanderings into the office because i give him treats here. He’s pretty emaciated as well which is most likely from being as sick as he was and i think hes gaining weight again, he doesnt look as sunken in as he did on his first flea bath 3 days ago at least. Though theres still a ton of work to be done with getting him back his muscle condition he had just 2 months ago. 

I didnt plan on getting another cat after Kitty died, but if Tiger keeps doing this well indoors and starts coming out of his shell more, I think im going to keep him fully as my own. Hes 13 years old in August, and with kitty having gotten cancer i dont think hes gonna be living to 20, but i think i can give him a longer and healthier life than he would get if i just let him outside again to be fed and “cared for” by my neighbors.

I feel like y'all will own like this lil' domestic cat family together. Like 2-3 cats max and you'll have these designated times when to play with them together. (You definitely have a video of Kenma just flopped upside down on your bed with a worm on a string in their hands just swerving it around and your cat chasing it. goood it's sooo cute and you definitly have it saved in memories.)

Y'all would play video games together and it could be either one of two ways. One: you could either be building a cute cottage core minecraft world together with your minecraft beds beside each other and/or help Kenma help build a absolute GOD TIER animal crossing island (when I envisioned this I mean like you would visit their island and hopefully you can make your own house on it??? ngl idk I never visited a friends island before on the game so idk) or Two: Y'all would get hella competitive with Mario kart or Smash Bros while your cats are in the corner fearing for their lives. (mostly because of you while Kenma has either stoic face ever or just a stupid ass smirk as they watch you throw the controller)

I bet Kenma would be really good at eyeliner and maybe just makeup in general. Like they would be really good at different techniques and just have a really steady hand. They would teach you if you want and you can teach them what you know. (ooooff just imagine kenma in like a business suit with a lazy low bun with baby hairs out and eyeliner... HMMMM) (I also have this headcannon for Suna too)

On the subject of cosmetics, they would also allow you to paint their nails but probably only in the neutral/darker shades. Their favorite color would either be black or red. (ha ha see what I did there?)

Y'all would go on lil' thrifting dates together. I feel like Kenma would wear one of the oversized sweaters where the arms are too long and their hands are covered while on the date. Y'all would definitely buy wayyyy much more than needed and get some much needed boba afterwards. (Or whatever drink you want)

You would need to help them get a decent sleep schedule and even hear them get snacks at like 3am after a game (that they'll probably get back too but you're not having it cause look at the time)

Instead of picnics outside, I feel like y'all would have lil' indoor movie dates with a blanket fort and takeout with lil' snacks here and there. There can be fairy lights (if you put the effort idk) and it can just be all cozy with all the blankets cushions and the warm atmosphere! (hopefully the cats don't play with the lights too much...)

Hi i need help :)

Tldr: My sister’s boyfriend is trying to stop me from eating and i need money so i can afford to eat when im not around so i’m trying to sell characters i own, plz click readmore for more info and/or links to my characters i have ufs

I’m schizophrenic & living on disability and right now i live in a bad place with my sister & her boyfriend. Her boyfriend absolutely despises me and verbally abuses me when she isn’t around. I’ve told her about this and she has used my trauma/hallucinations against me, saying it’s caused me to have something against men and that i’m just paranoid. 

Recently he has started taking my groceries and either leaving them out so they go bad or eating them/throwing them away to prevent me from eating. I typically only eat when I visit my mom (which I just can’t do every day, since HER husband hates me too) or when i eat rice at home which i’m running low on!

My mom is worried if I tell my sister about what her boyfriend is doing, i’ll be kicked out. I don’t really have anywhere to go, so I can’t do that. My mom is also offering to buy me food but she’s physically disabled & very sick, and almost all of her money is going towards hospital visits and medication. (She recently has a ct scan & a separate chest x-ray. She’s been to the ER twice this month. She has COPD and currently has pneumonia, as well as potentially a blood clot. She’s on a number of medications, including blood thinners & steroids) I do not want to touch her money.

Basically i would really appreciate some help getting money. I could get myself hospitalized but it’s already happened once this year and 6 times total. If i keep going to the mental hospital eventually they’re gonna force me to take medications i don’t want and/or have a guardian. I really don’t want that! 

I’d offer commissions but i just don’t have the motivation to do that right now since i feel terrible most of the time. “You promise to be good and not touch anything?” Your stepfather asked causing you to roll your eyes just a bit. “Yes, I promise...” it’s not like you weren’t an adult that could regulate yourself, dragged into your fathers lab as he grasped at the last fragments of your missed childhood for ‘bonding time’.

He seemed satisfied with your answer and slipped your guest pass over your head. “Okay, come back to meet me in the lobby for lunch. And try to stay in the indoor environmental biomes, the animals are fun to look at! Super cute!” He said the latter in a mock teenage girl voice before throwing up a peace sign making you cringe. “Yeah, Yeah, I get it dad!”

The added ‘dad’ in place of the usual ‘Tim’ seemed to butter him up enough to finally get out of your hair. You turned to walk towards the environmental areas, determined to see something noteworthy.

Much to your disappointment the glass wall was preventing much of anything from happening. So you couldn’t help yourself when your wandering fingers made it into some sorry saps pocket to nab their official ID. Slipping passed the doors that emblazoned with a massive “AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY” You saw an open supply closet full of lab gear. It was almost comical how easy this was.

Nobody paid you mind as you walked passed the several empty glass rooms, and It was only as you got deeper that you felt sick to your stomach as you saw countless animals that visiting tours gawked at lined up on tables, helpless. You pushed forward, snapping photos discretely. If Tim was still part of you’re family after all this-as long as you didn’t get caught and thrown in some sick government jail, you decided it would be him or you.

A certain window made you stop dead in your tracks. 4 absolutely massive men were strapped to the wall with all sorts of wires and liquids being pushed into their system. “What the fu-“

“And here you’ll see the latest progress in our age regeneration products-“

You decided you wouldn’t stick around to see who the voice belonged to, ducking into the closest room... which happened to be the man room. You ducked just out of view of the window and held your breath as the voice got more distant, breathing a sigh of relief. This was all too much to believe. Yesterday you were playing on your switch deciding what to order on ubereats, now you felt like you were somewhere in between a full on meltdown causing you to retreat into the wilderness and live like a survival guru, or turn this evidence to the media and become the martyr of animal rights before being under government watch for life. Your daydream was brought to a skidding halt as you heard a soft groan causing you to become painfully aware of the nearly naked doped up men.

“Shit, I...” You pondered what you should do, at this point the side of you that figured the likes of you walking out of here a free man were slim to none was winning out and you walked up to one of the god-like men.

You started with the random IVs, pulling them out of the most approachable looking one. A few moments later his eyes sleepily opened before shooting wide as his arm snapped out of its restraint forcefully brought his hand to your neck, lifting you well off the ground.

Your saliva bubbled out of your mouth trying to form words as you scraped at his rock-like hand. “Let..ggo.. set..ting you... free”

This seem to grab his attention as he dropped you to the ground before easily ripping off the rest of his restraints. His feet bounded towards you in minimal steps and as you cowered, he crouched before you forcing you to feel the huffs of his breathing as he...

“Nnnn...nnot like oth-thers”

You looked up as he tilted his head curiously, his long red hair flowing with his movements. You scooted away, grasping at straws. “Nope! Not like others. I’m just an average joe.”

“Joe?” His deep voice rumbled as he pointed at you.

“Joe... wha.. no I’m Y/n”

“Y/n” he mimicked, his voice coming out more like a purr than anything else.

“I sure do hope your friends are as nice as you, let’s get you fellas outta here, big guy.”

He looked conflicted for a second, his gaze following yours to the sleeping men before meeting your eyes once more.

“Wait.” He said, making you look at him.

He got closer to you and you held your breath, jumping as you felt him rub his forehead up against your cheek. “Uhh..” you nervously laughed. “What are ya doin big guy?”

“Smell like me.” He said curtly.

It hit you. He was trying his best so that the others didn’t attack you like he did. You found it rather endearing and couldn’t help the knee jerk reaction of your hand reaching up to stroke at his hair like he was a domesticated animal of some sort. Much to your surprise, he leaned into your touch as more audible vibrations leaked from his vocal chords.

“You’re not scary at all, huh?” You said scratching lightly causing him to push more weight into you. “Let’s go get your friends, yeah?” You chuckled before getting up and walked over to the long, purple haired man. “No.” The voice behind you cut in. “I get him... last” You side stepped allow it him to stand in between you and the sleeping man. Turning your attention to the other two, your new friend bit at his lip before pointing to the one with ice coloured cloud-like hair “Him... I’ll get the others.”

You nodded and got to work removing the tubes. The man quirked his eyebrow before opening his eyes to look at you. “Human.” He chuckled. “ I see the child doesn’t like to share his things.”

An animalistic growl came from the long haired redhead.

“Oh come on Santana. Grow up.” He chided, condescendingly.

“Esidisi...” the man- Santana, you suppose- bit back.

The straps retaining him melted away before your eyes as he grabbed your chin, inspecting you. “Not bad.” You clenched your teeth awkwardly as you tried to get out of his grip but he pulled you closer, letting out a hearty laugh that you could feel from in between his pecs.

The other 2 men slowly became present and got out of their restraints. There was calm for a moment before red lights and sirens filled the room. Santana immediately covered you as personnel flooded in, guns ready. “Open fire!” Came the command as a wave of bullets was unleashed.

The bullets had little effect as the purple haired one hardly lifted a finger, slicing through the wall of men with a shiny blade protruding from his wrist. A last man, left over attempted to sneak up on him making you grab one of the strewn about guns before opening fire. None of the bullets managed to hit him, but you happened to alert the towering man to the attacker.

A hole through a chest later, the purple haired one turned to you, walking closer.

“Careful Kars, Santana likes this one.” Esidisi warned mockingly.

“Breaking us out of this dormant hell and betraying your own kind in favour of us?” He pondered for a moment before bringing his nose to your cheek, grazing it against you as he purred. “Perhaps you’ll make a nice pet.” As if having a pack mentality the other 3 closed in on you.

What's a reasonably realistic way for a longhaired Clan cat to deal with mats in their fur? Those become painful over a period of time so would they have a way of coping with it, or would they just have to grin and bear it?

So I just did some quick research on it, unfortunately most sources are not official or anything so Im not posting links as they are mostly discussion based sites or articles, but several points came up often enough that I think we can come up with a plausible way to handle the situation.

First of all, indoor cats with long fur have a very different shedding cycle than outdoor cats. Being kept inside a climate controlled home for most of their lives, they are in constant shed mode, where as outside cats would shed before winter (to grow in their thicker winter coat), and in the spring (to grow in a shorter coat for the warmer months). Because cats are in constant shed mode, they have far more loose hairs, and can pick up even more from carpets. Shed hair is a large contributor to matting. Also, many of the long furred cat breeds have had years of selective breeding for the thickest fluffiest coats which contributes to ridiculous issues of matting. A pure bred Persian simply would not survive in the wild with a coat like theirs.

Being outdoors affects a cats lifestyle as well. They will have more chances to be rid of excess shed fur, and have rain and other kinds of weather to help wash it clean. Of course other things like burrs and dirt would counteract that and potentially cause mats in their fur.

Ultimately however, it depends on how diligent they are about grooming themselves. For longer furred cats, it would be absolutely necessary that they groom themselves frequently. This may contribute to a sense of vanity, but in order for them to survive without the pain and misfortune of mats, they would have to spend a significant time grooming. This is likely why sharing tongues and grooming one another is such an important part of clan culture. Its both a health aspect and a social and relational aspect. 

Its possible that if they only have a few mats, they might be able to just ignore it, cats have been demonstrated to have a fairly high pain tolerance level, and they may be able to ignore it for a bit. If not, they might enlist the help of others to try and groom it out, and I have seen even my own cats tug at their fur occasionally to get something out.

Because of their shedding cycles, the hope would be that if they get some mats, when they next shed their entire coat it would go away. Most of this is speculation however, so feel free to take these tidbits of advice and use them how you will in your own stories! See how the clan reacts to long furred cats, how much they need to groom, if they avoid certain places or situations for the sake of their fur, etc.

hey- i'm sure this is annoying and im sorry, but i need help. i really want to keep my cat inside, but she won't let me. and i mean really won't let me. she pees on everything and runs out when anyone opens the door even for a second. if a guest comes or my mom goes to work she's out. my mom yells at me for her peeing on things, too. im chronically ill and physically disabled (i can't even walk without a mobility aid) so i can't chase her or clean the pee. what do i do????

It’s very hard when you live with parents and other people to dictate these sorts of things, I’m sorry. 

However, the peeing on things is likely a different issue than the “needing to go out” one.

Has the cat been to the vet for this issue? Sometimes it is about pain or illness and that should be ruled out first. Urinary tract infections, paw pain, all sorts of things can lead to litter box “misses”. Vet visit should be your first step.

Is your kitty declawed? Unfortunately declawed cats usually have litter box issues.

Is your kitty spayed? This is important for both litter box use and bolting.

How many litter boxes do you have? What kind of litter box? Where are they each located? What kind of litter do you use? 

You should have at least one per “level” of your home, and one per cat plus one. Thus if you have one cat in a one level house or apartment, you should have at least two litter boxes. If you have a basement plus a two level home you should have at least three. More is better! If your cat has access to something like a garage, there should be an additional one in there as well. 

In addition, cats can be very picky about litter. Some cats only like fine grained, others prefer pelleted. There are many kinds of litter, so I encourage you to offer a variety of boxes with different litters and see which your cat likes. There’s also a litter called “Cat Attract” that helps some cats like the litter. 

Cats can also be very picky about the type of box. It should be nice and large so they don’t feel constrained (or miss). Many cats do not like small boxes to use. Also, many cats do not like covered boxes, where they might feel trapped (and which traps smells).

Make sure there’s enough litter in the box. Cats generally like it pretty deep.

You should clean the box multiple times a day. Once in the morning and once at night is enough for most cats, but some cats are even more fastidious and need it cleaned three times. 

Scooping should be done multiple times daily; litter should be changed once a month, but more often if the cat seems to start missing as the month wears on.

Make sure the boxes are no where near the food and water. Cats do not like going near where they eat or drink. (Usually water and food should also be far from each other; many cats do not like to eat where they drink.)

These all apply whether your cat is making it to the box for poo but not pee, also. They often have different issues about the things and it is especially important to check the kitty’s urinary health if the cat is only missing the box when it comes to peeing.

As for the bolting issue, I’ve had many door darting cats before! This is a training issue. You can train cats! You just have to find what really motivates them.

There are a few things that can help.

I also know how hard this can be with a mobility aid you have to maneuver through doors, as I use one too. It means the door is open longer. It means you can’t put up physical barriers like baby gates also, because you can’t step over them. 

There are screens that close with magnets that you can put over outside doors. They are not actually a barrier, you can push right through them; but they stop many cats because they think about it as a barrier. It gives you that extra chance to turn the cat away. Another option is simply to hang a sheet over the door.

The most ideal safety option, if you own your home, is a fenced courtyard or “safety catch” enclosure outside the door, fully enclosed or with cat proof fencing. Only open one door at a time, and if the cat darts out the entry way, she can’t leave the courtyard/catch. Unfortunately this requires you own your home (usually) and can be very expensive (though if you know someone handy there cheaper ways to build it). This page has samples of kinds of cat proof fences, though it is oriented towards making safe outdoor enclosures. A fully enclosed safety catch could be built for pretty cheap using not much more than PVC pipe, zip ties, and wire mesh; but it wouldn’t be pretty and some neighborhoods would frown on that.

If you have a house or apartment with multiple outside doors, switch up which door you go through. Make it so your cat can’t anticipate which door you’ll be leaving or coming in through. Or, if you have a connected garage, it’s a perfect built in safety catch. Go out the door into the garage, make sure the cat is indoors and close that door, then leave through the door to the outside or the main garage door. Unfortunately not everyone rents or owns a place with a setup like this. 

Clicker training is an ideal way to train cats, and you can train all sorts of behaviors with it! It is one of the best ways to train a cat not to bolt. Here is a good video about clicker training cats. There is a lot of information available online! I’ve trained my cats to do all sorts of tricks which are both fun and useful.

If there is someone else in the house, then closing the cat into a room while one person enters or leaves is an option.  Some cats will do okay closed into a room while all the people are gone for short periods, others will find this really stressful; don’t do this if the cat would find it stressful. If you do close her into a bedroom or something whenever you go out, I suggest making it a very comfortable and happy experience. Offer treats or food, put a warming bed in there, etc.

Do not greet the cat at the door, or show the cat affection at the door. Make the door an ignore-the-cat-zone. When you come home, greet the cat at the other side of the room. Set up a cat zone there, such as a warming bed and/or cat tree. Give some treats every time you leave or come home, on the tower. If they are high value treats, the cat will learn to run over there when you’re about to leave or when you come home. As you’re leaving, consuming the treats will occupy the cat. (I suggest Pure Bites freeze-dried chicken or turkey, most cats love them. For picky cats, bonito flakes are a good choice. If the cat gets dry food usually, wet food may be a good choice.) 

Catnip works for some cats that aren’t food-motivated. 

If your cat bolts food and giving high value treats won’t keep the cat there long enough to get out the door, you may want to give the treats in a puzzle toy, that keeps the cat occupied longer, whenever you leave.

Play with your cat before leaving. Just swinging a fishing-rod style toy around can help. If you aren’t physically able to swing a toy around, try one of the electronic toys that swing a toy, or otherwise move. Tire the kitty out if possible, get at least a little of their energy out otherwise. You should play with your cat for 20 minutes a day, every day. Cats need to work off energy! If your cat is coming over to the door while you try to leave, or when someone is coming home, try throwing a toy towards the other end of the room, or having someone swing the cat’s favorite toy on the other side of the room. 

Make sure the cat has plenty of different toy options inside the house, so the cat doesn’t seek the outdoors because she’s bored. Rotate the toys regularly so the cat doesn’t get bored of them. Catnip toys can be rejuvenated by storing them in a tub of catnip or spraying them with catnip oil. Catnip toys, ball tracks, kickers, etc. all appeal to different cats. Make sure the cat has choices for places to be and perch, such as tall towers or cat shelves, or window seats.

As counter intuitive as it seems, leash training can help. If your cat knows that when the harness goes on, only then does she get to go outside, then she may run to her harness and leash instead of to the door. (Again, keep it away from the door.) Do not let the cat cross the threshold herself. Make sure she is carried out the door, so she learns bolting does not get her outside. Also this method will only work if she is not allowed to go outside on her own, consistently, so shutting her in a room or distracting her with treats needs to be used for a while first. Be sure to go slowly with harness training, and make it positive! Many cats react poorly to just having a harness put on them and then being dumped outside on a leash. Here is a guide to leash training! 

A catio may also help; an outdoor, fully enclosed area the cat cat enjoy, reaching it through a cat door, window, or similar opening. These can be built or bought. If your cat has a safe option for going outside, she may be less inclined to bolt outside. It is not always an option to build one if you live in an apartment or rent, but many are non-permanent structures that won’t damage the house. You can even make them out of wire cube shelving.

It may help for your cat to associate the door area with unpleasant sensations. These are very mild aversives, and since the human is removed from the equation, they associate the ickiness with the door, and not with their people. A Scat Mat or other electric static mat at the threshold to prevent the cat from waiting right there at the door. Sticky double sided tape on the floor at the threshold is a cheap method but it will need to be replaced quite often, since it will get gucked up quickly with people walking (and rolling) in and out. Many cats will only need to step on it once or twice before they avoid the area, and eventually you would be able to do away with the tape altogether.

In an absolutely worst case scenario... using a squirt bottle may be a valid choice. I highly suggest you try all the other things first, and give them time and consistency to work. I do not recommend squirting cats as a form of training, as positive methods are usually more effective in the long run for cats, squirting can cause trust issues, and they may associate you with the squirt bottle. However, bolting out the door is a safety issue, and sometimes we need to employ aversive methods to keep our pets safe. DO NOT squirt the cat in the face. Squirt on the body, such as the chest. When you come home, open the door a crack, if the cat is there, squirt through the crack, then close the door. Closing the door afterwards and not coming right in means the cat is less likely to associate the squirt with you. You want the cat to think of the door as the source of the negative experience, not you.

Again, I highly suggest the other methods of training and safety first!

⌠ BACKGROUND ⌡

so starting with her parents, where all stories begin, let’s just preface by saying these were awful people. they ran in similar circles during school, a very bad one at that, & fell in love after sharing a joint. in their high daze they saw what their mind was conjuring but not the truth about one another. but for them, it had been enough. thus, their story began. it was a very rocky road but they managed to stay together regardless. the bond they had created blossomed as they partook in illegal activities such as petty theft, vandalism, & it slowly evolved into larger problems. 

after hyeon’s mother, named jung eunbi, stole from her parents for the last time she was kicked out into the street with her boyfriend ( who had also been kicked out ) with no place to go. both dropped out of high school as it wasn’t their “””scene””” & took to the dirty streets of busan trying to turn tricks. they’d do anything they could to get some money to feed their addictions. in the midst of their scrambling for what they deemed as important, they never thought to buy protection. so one fateful night after a good steal, they made love on a dingy couch high as a kite & eunbi got pregnant.

she hid the pregnancy for as long as she could from her boyfriend, he only noticed when there was a rather apparent bump under her baggy clothing. with the weight of the realization they might have to force themselves to become a real family, the couple got hitched & attempted to find real jobs. in some miracle, they managed to find a house to live in & eventually “raise” their child in. 

hyeon was born on the 8th of june, on a dark morning with clouds hanging ove the sky & rain starting to pour. she was premature as her mother did drugs during the pregnancy ( which was really no shocker ) & almost was pronounced a still born before they heard the tiny being crying & gasping for air. her parents had assumed that once she was born, they’d feel that parental love that everyone claimed to have but it never came. they stayed in the hospital a total of two days & hardly let their newborn get the help she needed before they hauled ass out of there. 

the first 3 years of hyeon’s life were better than expected, her parents at least tried to take care of her but once she was able to do everything on her own they left her be to pursue their own happiness. honestly think of matilda but a lot more severe ok

she would often get locked in a closet while there were parties held & her parents were too strung out to remember their child. she could spend days in there before she was released. this was only the beginning.

at 8 years old, her father lost his job ( her mother stayed at home ) due to a random drug test & he of course failed. this triggered her parents to panic as they no longer could supply themselves with their so desired highs. so after a night of scheming, they came up with a plan so sinister not even the devil himself would agree.

random men & women began to arrive to their dingy home as hyeon would be ushered into quiet rooms with them where they would pay to do whatever they pleased with the young girl. this went on for 2 years before hyeon was pulled into the principals office at school with questions about where those bruises on her came from. her mom was picked up for possession & this prompted the police to raid their home to find many illegal substances throughout the place as well as evidence of abuse towards the child.

soon after her parents were placed in prison, hyeon was shipped off to seoul to the biggest orphanage in the country. there she stayed for 4 more years. the time there was quiet, nobody asked her about where she came from & she never spoke about it. in truth, she never knew how to as she was a blank mind essentially. 

luckily when she was 15, after a long & strenuous search, hyeon’s grandparents found her & adopted her into their home in daegu. they were absolutely appalled at this shell of a girl, but could only blame her trauma on their own children. it was here that hyeon was loved for the first time in her life ( & possibly the only time ) & taught how to feel something besids fear. she was still horribly inept at processing emotions or showing them.

two years spent with them & one night as hyeon & her grandfather were sat at the family piano, playing & singing a song as her grandmother recorded them in secret. that same video was sent to an entertainment company without hyeon’s knowledge but was thoroughly surprised & equally as excited when she was recruited. only a measly year in training with her 2 group members before they debuted & they were suddenly the biggest gg in sk.

the group debuted under the name of PTL, hyeon’s stagename was now Tink as she accompanied her members in the ride of a lifetime. they were extremely popular with their girl crush yet enticing vocals with miss tink as the main vocalist & maknae. even so successful as to have a world tour ! the group had their differences, hyeon being the medium for them as the other girls were rather opposing forces. often she was put in the middle of their arguing only to run away when conflict came up. during this time she would write & compose her own songs, bringing a heavy soul feeling to the group with her powerhouse vocals.

with all this being said ( which was a LOT ), there is still more. a year after debut while the group was climbing in popularity, hyeon began receiving texts from an unknown number. she soon found out that the people behind the mask were her parents, somehow having managed to be released from prison & found their new mission in life was to harass their daughter. on an october night, after an argument went down within the dorms between hyeon’s two members, the youngest set out by herself to meet those who hurt her for dinner. 

as expected, it went horribly. at this point in her life, she was extremely impressionable, & witnessed how her eonnie handled things which was with a liquor bottle in hand. so, like an idiot, she went to a club by herself to get fucked up. while sitting at the bar, a random man drugged her drink & took hyeon home with him. the night was a blur but when the young woman woke up she felt familiar bruises & a blanket of rage took over. the man was still passed out next to her.

so as she slipped out of his bed & found the nearest blunt object, hyeon managed to bash his skull in. she blacked out after that only to come to with clean hands & far away from the corpse. this was the reactant to lead her to go blind in rage & come to with blood on her hands. soon enough, she took a liking to the feeling & became two people within one while somehow managing to remain anonymous as a killer ran rampant.

earlier this year, after too much shit going on within the group, ptl disbanded & all went their own ways. which hyeon appreciated. the people she had once called her sisters had become like strangers & only cared about themselves, didn’t have the time to look after their maknae. 

to say that her already pre - existing depression & anxiety sky rocketed would be an understatement. she left music for a while, deciding to stream on twitch & youtube as a gamer. it made her happy for a short time but has been planning on returning to music with hints of a solo debut soon that has fans excited.

I mostly read nonfiction, but I don't seek out series nor standalone books. I read whatever catches my eye either way.

The cover draws my eye to the book first of all, but the summary on the back is more important to me.

Do you prefer books you can really get into or more light-hearted reads?

I prefer books that contain a lot of factual information and not a lot of biases. I don't mind if the author's take is comedic, though. That's the kind of educational book I would consider light-hearted. Some of those are great.

I mostly read nonfiction, as previously stated, but I'll read about a lot of different topics. I love fringe interests, though!

I'm not sure, although I've never been out of the country. I've gone several places when I was too young to remember anything about it later on.

If I were seriously going to die pretty soon then I'd be more worried about spending time with the people and pets I love rather than traveling.

Is there anywhere you've ever visited that you just really didn't like?

The names of such places are a lot less memorable to me, but there was this place in Texas that was just covered in mosquitoes. I never want to return!

I prefer staying in hotels or camping either in a tent or some type of camper. We've just bought a new one from my cousin and her fiance too! It isn't a pop-up like our last that we just got rid of, though.

Coffee doesn't do much but make me pee about an hour later. I don't really need it for anything.

I don't drink alcohol.

I don't and what a human needs varies depending upon their own body. If I drank that much water then I would be miserable.

If they gave me time to find something I like better then I'd definitely go for that. If not, I'd pass.

Do you enjoy exercising or do you force yourself to do it to keep in shape?

I'm a hypersensitive and exercising regularly as a kid during PE never did me any favors. It only gave me chronic pain, so I haven't done it since.

There are many sports I'd really rather not participate in, so the list is long. I only enjoy volleyball, kickball and swimming.

I've never played on any kind of sports team. I've never been athletic.

I wouldn't know, but I would assume I've never walked all that much before outside of my PE classes during middle school.

I can go several days without going online at all if I feel like it. I'm not really addicted or obsessed with any sort of activity.

I do most things as needed. Showering every single day would be too much for someone who isn't that active or sweaty.

It's all relative, honestly. Some people might think that taking surveys is unusual. Some people think that only weeaboos are into anime too and that being interested in Japanese culture at all relegates you into that stereotype despite that not being the case with me.

Others might think that I like Funko stuff too much or that I have too many plushies. I don't live my life by what others think, though.

Do you make an effort to make time for your hobbies?

I wouldn't keep a hobby on my list of pastimes if I had no time for it. Sometimes they fall off my radar for a while, but I tend to revisit things.

What's your favorite way to spend an evening alone?

Indoor hobbies work at any time. I might read a book, watch anime online, play video games, watch educational TV shows, etc.

Do any of your hobbies involve expensive equipment of any kind?

My most expensive hobby equipment are my Chromebook and my N3DS right now, but collecting Funko items makes me spend a lot of cash too.

I can't remember it if they have, but that doesn't sound like something I'd care about enough to commit to memory. As I said, I don't live my own life by what others think. I certainly value the opinions of certain people, but pastimes are usually just personal preferences.

Are you more of a loner or a social butterfly?

I'm an ambivert, but I'm not a huge people person either. I have a core group of friends offline and I'm slow to warm up to total strangers like a cat can be. I'm a little less wary online, but I usually let others come to me first. I can do just fine playing the part of a lone wolf, though.

How long have you known your oldest friend?

I'm not even sure since I have long-term memory problems, but I would assume my oldest internet friend is currently Symon G. while the oldest one offline is Miss Cindy.

Would you rather have a few best friends or lots of friends you don't know as well?

As I said before, I have a core group of friends offline. My online friend group is much larger because it's easier to meet people.

But my group of close friends and besties from online and off is made up of about twenty people in all. I feel that I don't get close to people too easily and I'm good with that.

Are you happier alone or surrounded by friends?

As an ambivert, I need both alone time and time with friends to both recharge and relax. Ambis need to soul-search, but they also find guidance from their closest friends. We don't just live life in one extreme on the social spectrum.

How often would you say you hang out with friends?

As needed and wanted. Sometimes I want to just be all by myself and sometimes I seek out company. I don't have a hard time finding people to enjoy life with, but I do find it hard to get enough alone time without interruptions. More alone time would be nice.

Winter's my fave because of the cold weather, snow, snowflake symbology, Christmas and more.

There isn't some kind of preset. I have to feel comfortable enough and I need to have established a real romantic bond with them.

If I don't feel that I'm in love with him, I'm not going to kiss him. There's no point in me trying to initiate that behavior if there's no loving feeling.

Maturity comes with experience and that's most often what you achieve with age, but an 18-year-old's brain still can't grasp consequences that well.

Not everyone who gets hooked on illegal drugs started out on them. I have sympathy for those who became hooked on painkillers because it's such a terrible epidemic these days.

People who pick up other drugs just for fun have made their own beds out of ignorance or stupidity, unfortunately. I don't waste my empathy.

Have you or has someone you know ever smoked more than twenty cigarettes in a day?

I don't hang out with smokers and drug users and people who get drunk. My father had a nasty habit of smoking a few out of stress, though. I think he finally kicked it after his mother and brother died.

Do you think weed should be legalized?

The problems medical legalization has caused need to be addressed first. It needs to be heavily regulated and given supplementary laws.

A lot of potheads just use it as an excuse to self-medicate and there isn't a magical drug that has zero negative side effects. We just don't know all of them yet, but there are some we've learned based on the length and extent of use.

I never really care about the labels on things. Whatever looks good, fits right and reflects my style is what I'm buying so long as the price is reasonable enough for the quality.
