i love the foreshadowing in yellowjackets, i love how mundane things or simple dialogues can have a heavy weight. i rewatched a few weeks ago and found this:
so on ep 7 s1 we follow taissaās group and their adventure to find help and get out of the woods and we have this conversation
then, in episode 10 jackie refuses to thank the wilderness for the dead bear. it didnāt mean that she was going against shauna or any of the girls, she was skeptical at first and the seance session was a joke to jackie
this always gets me into thinking, what if the wilderness does choose and the only way to find forgiveness and get a chance to survive is by believing in it. because we know what happens if we go against it
and when they see the consequences, the skeptical ones turn into praying, thanking and asking for the help.
whether you feel like it saves you from the infinite torment
ep 5 s2
or because it shows you just how powerful and loyal it can be
ep 9 s2
i donāt know if anyone has mention this before but i wanted to write about it and give my take on it. if you have any theories about it im all ears eyes
#yellowjackets#yellowjackets analysis#van palmer#taissa turner#jackie taylor#natalie scatorccio#lottie matthews#sorry for the awful screenshots#jjās thoughts

OK, now that I finished Beyond Evil, after I catch up on the backlog of all the airing dramas I put aside to watch this, what should be my next kdrama binge watch or rewatch?
Candidates:
The Nokdu Flower - it's dark and grim and period and I love the cast and I've loved the first two eps and I keep meaning to watch forever.
Circle - clearly I am on a Yeo Jin Goo kick, so why break the streak? Honestly, the kid hasn't made a drama I didn't love except for Absolute Boyfriend (I loved that manga but it made a terrible drama for three separate countries so perhaps it's just not a story that can ever be adapted, pls leave it alone people.) Also it seems scifi and I love the rest of the cast.
That Winter the Wind Blows - I got to ep 5 in my rewatch ages ago and got sidetracked but that exquisite cast and romance and intensity and angst and I've been a Jo In Sung fangirl since forever.
Padam Padam - once again a rewatch and that angst and romance and second chances and that cast. Also, it's been so long I genuinely don't remember, but perhaps the ML should join that whole "accused of murder but innocent" list I made.
Mawang - a rare perfect kdrama, the one I meant to rewatch before being dragged into BE world.
Hello Monster - to keep up with being on a tormented detectives and serial killers kick, plus I meant to watch that forever.
Fates and Furies - old school melo and I watched first few eps when aired and adored it. Plus a rare drama where JSW plays the good guy and I am a sucker for the whole "woman is hired to wreck the man but falls for him" set up.
Whisper - rewatch of one of my all time faves, where a fallen cop and a fallen judge fight each other but then fight together to take down the evil and powerful and there is tension and UST and dysfunction and perfection.
(why yes, she's muffling his moaning from his wounds with her mouth)
Nine: Nine Times Time Travel - I remember it being mega acclaimed and it's from the writer of Queen In Hyun's Man and W so...
You Are My Spring - I love me some Kim Dong Wook
Find Me In Your Memory - I love me some Kim Dong Wook AND Moon Ga In and the set up is such angsty melo.
The Girl Who Sees Smells - to keep up with the whole detective who lost family to serial killer getting involved with someone who is also tied to it set up, plus I love the leads.
Anyway, here is your chance to vote and provide input and then see me freak out about whatever for a week straight. (Beyond Evil won last time and you saw how insane I went.) So POLL:

LITA Ep. 5 Rewatch Thoughts Part 1
(edit bc I started writing this post like 6 months ago - hi! I'm gonna finish going through the rest of the phayurain episodes of LITA finally! I've lost all sense of shame so these posts are just gonna be love letters to Eul, hope that's ok) Hi hi hi! I find it absolutely hilarious that the notes on the final part of my episode 4 rewatch post (which contains my best screenshots of That Scene) has like triple the notes of the rest of the parts. I love the thirsty LITA fam <3 I think I kept it mostly clean for the first 3 episodes but LITA brainrot is real and from here on out I'm putting down all my deranged thoughts into words so enjoy
Onwards to episode 5!! Ok so y'all should know by this point that BossNoeul sang the opening right? I added it on spotify and have listened to it on repeat so much over the last week that I could probs (badly, bc my singing voice leaves much to be desired but I can and will belt it at the top of my lungs) karaoke it now. If y'all haven't heard the full version check it out bc they rap a few bars and Noeul has this line "shake your bo- shake your bo- shake your body" that makes me lose it every time
The recap sees us revisiting some rather adorable moments from the previous episode including PhayuRain in the rain and tub. Imagine if they stuck the leg kiss in the recap >.<
We open to sunlight pouring in through the curtained windows on the morning after. I kind of wish the last episode had ended with this scene bc it would have been a soft transition after the intimacy PhayuRain shared rather than the abrupt cut to credits. But I digress.
Phayu's hair looks glorious out and I wish we'd gotten to see it like this more. In fact I think we should've seen Rain push his hands through it and grip it during episode 6's NC scene. Also the definition of that bicep? Sir pls.
I ADORE how sweet Phayu is towards Rain all the time, and this is yet another example. I love it when characters look fondly at their lover (I finally get to use that word for them!!), cover them with a blanket, and then give them a forehead kiss before sliding out of bed. SO FOND
I just think it's really attractive when people do this. Rain was really missing out by snoozing.
The state of Rain's neck and chest sends me into hysterical giggles every time. Phayu you did not have to go that hard with the marking bestie (let's be honest though, looking at the state of Phayu's neck post episode 6 they both have marking kinks) - everyone's gonna know Rain's officially yours soon enough. Also throwback to how like two months ago (or something like that idk the exact timeline) Rain was like hmph I never want anything to do with P' Phayu ever again. I didn't hear any complaining from you last night hmm??? Also I love how confident Rain was in his abilities to seduce Phayu, so true of him
I'm DECEASED
OK WAIT I think I finally get the whole yellow-blue thing. It literally is just that yellow is Rain's representative color and Phayu's is navy blue. So by making Rain put on Phayu's navy blue shirt for the "morning after" they're just reiterating that Rain belongs to Phayu now. Mystery solved :)
Obligatory shot bc he's worked hard for these gains and I think he deserves some appreciation ft. Rain who's making the same face as all of us. I think they spent like 30 whole seconds on Phayu's shoulders and that's so valid of them
Sir, do you have a good reason for striding in here shirtless and sweaty to wake your new bf up? Methinks someone was hoping for round 2
Ok, and we're back to Rain in a yellow t-shirt looking very feverish. He's holding his teal green phone (case) up though which is a combo of yellow and blue, isn't it? I'm sorry my color theory is lacking. His eyebrows look really nice here and I don't know why I noticed. I hope he has a good nap! But oops he misses calls from Phayu...
This episode's title is "the Calm Before the Storm" which implies it's gonna be a mostly tooth-rotting fluff episode and that drama is on the way next week. I'm already smiling so wide my cheeks hurt so the title is apt.
Phayu (dressed in navy blue!) is here to make sure his precious Rain is ok and Mama is already planning the wedding in her head.
The first three or four times I watched this, I was paying too much attention to their faces and probably missed a lot so let's break it down a bit. Phayu comes in, Rain's surprised and sits up, and Phayu sits down next to Rain on the bed but facing away. Phayu is slightly upset that Rain went away without saying anything and he was worried that since Rain was sick that him driving home alone was dangerous. The second Phayu sits down this way, Rain reaches out to grab his arm but Phayu pulls away. Compared to couples in other dramas, PhayuRain depend on touch a lot to communicate so obv the situation is quite serious plus Phayu is not immediately making eye contact with Rain.
The next couple of shots are just back and forth where Phayu asks why Rain left and Rain tells him what happened and apologies for worrying him. He looks v v soft and fluffy here
Gonna take a second to appreciate the background music bc it sounds so serious and doom-y right now but they're literally about to clear it all up so it was unnecessary to go that hard. Sound artist I love you
Throughout this conversation, Phayu starts far away (which for PhayuRain means there's like 1.5 meters of distance between their faces instead of 0.15 meters) but he moves closer and tilts his body more in Rain's direction as Rain gives each justification. He also lets Rain grab his arm. It's very subtle but I like the acting choices here.
Phayu, Rain is sick. Can you pls stop staring at his lips bff give him some rest (spoiler alert I counted like 5 lip-looks in the next 10 seconds, Phayu didn't hear me)
OK this hug. Exquisite. The gap has been bridged, all parties are happy again, and they both absolutely sink into each other.
Boss' little shoulder rub here is so soft and gives us more PhayuRain believability. We can see how worried he was and how relieved he is now that Rain is safely in his arms again.
Rain's cheek-smushed nod agreeing to never disappear from Phayu's side ever again is everything to me.
I don't actually think this was what I was supposed to get out of this but there's something about the symmetry of this hug and them being in the shape of a triangle and how technically their first encounter as a couple involved Phayu's triangle tool etc. etc. etc. Also headpat alert!
More subtle and soft gestures from Phayu. Rain is down bad.
HANDS!!!
We really heard the MWAH here and I want to forehead kiss whoever placed the mics
Everyone needs to observe Rain's expression right after Phayu asks this question bc it's very sus
(I couldn't get it in motion but Rain straightens up a bit and raises his eyebrows. Someone thinks they're about to get spanked like before)
Except this is not that kind of punishment and I can't believe Phayu really brought along a rectal suppository. To his credit though, I believe they're supposed to be more immediately effective than oral medicines because they absorb more directly into the body so he just wants Rain to be healthy faster. Although I wish Phayu would've not proceeded to yank Rain's pants off without permission, it's fiction and I hope if Rain had shown signs of major discomfort he would've listened. I do have to wonder if Mama put on headphones though bc Rain was really loud with his protests. I also think this must've been funny to film bc if you look closely before it cuts to Rain's mom, Rain looks like he's holding back laughter.
Uh-oh, Mama it's better if you walk away now
This sequence was actually so adorable and funny. I love purrito!Rain and Phayu is looking way too smug. Mama Rain walked out of there trying to name all the yellow and blue flowers she could for the wedding centerpieces.
omfg Phayu calling Rain's mom "Mama" is so friggin cute and I love how smoothly he just slid into son-in-law position
Rain's like excuse me I'm sick I should NOT be slandered right now
To part 2 with all the cute shots!!

last twilight ep 5 thoughts feelings etc.
eyy actually watched this earlier and rewatching it, so things should be a little less feral and unhinged. actually took notes my first watch through as well (wtf am i doing)
once again i love how stories are our constant companions in this show. i love how they keep playing with the parallels between worlds, it's one of my absolute favorite things in storytelling.
i love the fact that day is now 'invisible' in the world of badminton but he can still experience all of the joy of the game by supporting his friends. badminton was such a big part of his life and he doesn't have to leave it all behind, he just experiences it a little differently now.
film is so fucking pretty even covered in 'sweat.' i do love the show let her be 'sweaty' and disheveled instead of having perfect hair and make up after what was clearly a hard game. GIVE ME SWEATY WOMEN. (god im so gay)
so i said it last week but the only time we've ever seen mhok be violent is when he's been protecting the people close to him. (his garage bro, porjai x 2, etc) and we see him ready to do it again when august confronts day. there is no doubt in my mind that mhok was fully prepared to bury that bitch for even daring to make day the slightest bit afraid.
and god how scary does that have to be? you can't see, you're already nervous to be here, and suddenly someone is shouting at you - and maybe you don't recognize them at first because you haven't heard their voice in over a year but all you know is they're coming closer and they're so angry. i can't imagine anything scarier than that.
ahh, a broken picture frame representing a broken bond, an absolute classic metaphor. an oldie but a goodie.
once again i love that we see day's rage. anger really is such a big part of coming to terms with being disabled. i got some bad news a few weeks ago about my own disease and i've spent the last few weeks so angry and frustrated and then just sad. it's such a complex journey and the show is doing an absolutely brilliant job of showing that.
i do owe day's family a small smidgen of an apology since day is the one that asked it to be kept a secret, HOWEVER, i do think that conversation should have been revisited after a fucking year. how long were they just going to let him live in isolation? like cool for respecting his agency, not cool for letting him waste away in a tomb of his own making.
FINALLY WE GET MHOK OPENING UP.
so here's the thing with mhok. i love him. no - the real thing is i see so much of myself in him. my friends and family constantly get frustrated with me because i will never tell them when something is wrong or when i'm shouldering a lot of emotions about something. when i got the bad news about my disease i hid in my office and cried at my desk and then cleaned myself up and pretended nothing happened. fuck, i feel like i understand mhok on such a deep level.
not to get too into it but my own habits stem from neglect in my formative years, and i have to wonder if mhok's behavior maybe stems from his isolation in prison? oftentimes people with these behavior patterns will self isolate, either deal with or bury their emotions, and then emerge back into their friend group as if nothing happened. (am i talking about myself again? shhh.) mhok didn't really have a choice - sure you can write letters, have visitors, but a large part of his day was probably handling his grief in solitude. he's probably gotten so good at "handling it" and pushing everything down and dealing with everything in silence that he doesn't know how to handle it any other way now.
to make things worse, it happened over a year ago. he probably feels like he should be "over it" and not make it a big deal. maybe i'm projecting just a smidge (just a lot) but i do think it's something interesting to keep in mind. either way, him finally talking about rung to day is fucking MASSIVE, both for their relationship and mhok's emotional wellbeing.
august is fucking king of mixed signals and i don't super like that he looked for mhok's permission to lead day through the court. why the fuck are you looking at mhok when you could just ask day? if you look closely, as mhok is letting go day curls his fingers around the hand that mhok uses to remove his hand from his arm.
i do love we see mhok pushing day a little more out of his comfort zone as he did in earlier episodes.
porjai is so fucking pretty. is there anything more attractive than a woman in shorts and an oversized band tee? no. no there is not.
and again we see how much time and effort mhok has put into being day's caretaker - and his friend. he did research and learned methods that would make dining out easier for day. i love him so much! i don't know how day could still be thinking about august after that adorable little date.
UGH OKAY SO. HERE'S WHERE WE GET INTO MY BIG FEELINGS.
in my opinion, the theme of this episode has been "being late." here's why.
the boys were very nearly, or were, late to gee's badminton game
you could consider mhok 'late' to tell day about rung
day thinks he's too late to confess to august
mhok realizes he's come into day's life too late to receive his affection
and then we have august's literal late arrival (i still dont know what fucking game this jackass is playing)
this also ties in to a little trend i've been noticing in regards to mhok that oftentimes he's too late in life.
he was too late to save rung, and learned of her death late
he was too late to receive the mechanic job as it had 'already been given to someone else'
he was a late arrival to the interview to become day's caretaker
and again, he's entered day's life too late to receive his affection (or so he thinks)
i genuinely don't know if this is intentional, but i think it's something interesting to draw connections to.
anyway, again, i dont know what the fuck august's deal is but i can tell you if i was day i'd be getting over my feelings for him real fucking quick. i don't super like that august shows up, hears about day's feelings, and asks mhok to keep his being there a secret - but i do understand it and i do understand mhok's side of things. i don't think he does it out of his own selfishness, i think rather he realizes august likely doesn't return day's affection and letting him think august didn't show up is possibly the kinder of the two scenarios. (my only hope is we don't see august return and try to woo day or something later with this knowledge)
i do love that mhok stayed. he was concerned and it might seem a little overbearing but day was clearly nervous for this outing and all in all it's good that he stayed. and then he made sure to salvage the evening for day and take him out on a proper date. maybe it's not the date day wanted but it looks like he had a great time (perhaps even a better time) spending a day with someone he could relax and be himself around.
flowers have so many different meanings across cultures and tbh i'm far to tired to dig into the thai meaning of hydrangeas (if there are any) but i do think hydrangeas are neat. this is prob common knowledge but the color of hydrangea petals is determined by the ph balance in the soil they're grown in. (blue hydrangeas grow in soil with a ph balance of 5.2-5.5, far more in the base range than red hydrangeas that grow in a ph balance of 6.0-6.2, and once the soil reaches acidic levels it tends to produce pink flowers) i guess maybe if you wanted you could draw a connection to how malleable mhok is becoming and how his environment is changing him.
scientifically, sunflowers are also an interesting flower because they are often used to heal damaged and irradiated soil. they're so fucking resilient and help heal the world around them. i think there's a lot of connections we can make there with both mhok and day, regardless of flower symbolism and going purely on science.
anyway sorry to be a science nerd.
that's all ive really got for this episode, i say, as if i have not written you all a novel. this show continues to make me feel so much and tickle my brain in such a delightful way. between this and moonlight chicken p'aof has definitely made me a fan for life.
tag loves: @benkaaoi | @callipigio | @lookwhatihave (once again pls always feel free to lmk if you want to be added or removed)

Recently found the courage to go back and rewatch Kana I wonāt say it didnāt hurt but I stopped before the you know what part and Iām choosing to believe they left together to go travelling.
Ah, man... The ending we could have so easily gotten and SHOULD have.
Sometimes I see notifications on old Kana posts and I look them up and read the tags and ahhhh, they were so good. Nothing can do it like soaps! You just don't get that time with characters outside of them. In fact, nowadays you can't even get 20 ep regular seasons or multiple seasons, your ship better be together by the end of 8 eps or that's it forever.
Actually, I wanted some comfort watching these last few weeks so I started watching the end of the second last Neighbours season, the one that was supposed to be the finale, because I knew they were going to reunite Chelly and I thought at least that'd be a nice ending, though I never did actually end up watching their original storyline. And it ended up being really touching and so amazing what they were able to do with all the cameos and wrapping what they thought were going to be forever endgames. Like, Mike and Jane, who were first together almost 40 years ago and getting a reunion so many years later? Played by the same actors? I adore that kind of thing.
But anyway, I ended up wanting to know more about Chelly and as it turns out, I had downloaded the full eps from the seasons they got together and have slowly been making my way through them and you truly get SO much with soaps! There are all these character and relationship building moments before the romance even starts. It's always been one of my regrets that Kana only got so much interaction before Rana's drunken kiss, but they definitely took their time after!
I was talking to my friend about Chelly and also that other Belgian soap I giffed a little while ago, Thuis, and we were discussing how rare it is that any soap couple gets the literal soulmate treatment Kana got. There are a lot of little moments I've forgotten but this one is burned in:
She was trying so hard not to give in but the mention of soulmate and she's helpless.
Sometimes I think about going back and watching and obviously also stopping before That happens, I might really do it at some point. I rewatch Otalia sometimes, the good stuff near the end of 2008, and it really isn't ruined by the trash that came later.
I also started watching this season of Ici Tout Commence, a French soap, after hearing of recent developments there, I'm still just on September but I'm enjoying the ride. Eastenders, I have all the eps downloaded from when Eve arrived but it seems too daunting a ride to get on at the moment. Keeping an eye on 4 Estrellas, I do actually love them but I tend to catch up in batches and I'd like to wait for them to get back together first. General Hospital, still not caught up at all. But yeah, it seems I'm a soap girl now, huh. :)

Written In Smoke - The Inceptive Letter
Now, for the first post of this series I thought Iād begin with something simple, explaining the name - Written, because of course Iām a writer and I adore the clickety-clack of keys (and writing with a fountain pen in a notebook when Iām outlining plot, which is a new little venture Iāve begun doing) and Smoke, because itās a weekly account of events, nothing is going to be completely solid, and my memory will have gaps even if I attempt to note things down, and also because much like the flow of ink upon paper, life is similarly fluid too, in my mind at least, itās very much like smoke - full of substance, beautiful, chaotic, and full of little moments (which I completely adore) and thus the use of smoke, because little moments disappear so quickly but the remnants remain with you forevermore, and thatās as much of an explanation as my mind can conjure, which for me at the very least, composes the introduction to this series!
And now to move on to the main substance of this post - much like the ingredients of a perfect dish, the parts are still a work in progress, so bear with me whilst I work out which to include and how to structure it
Ā (And come up with working titles for each section, which is part of the fun!)
A Glimpse Through TimeĀ - little bits about me and what Iāve been up to this week
This week marked the end of a chapter, a very important one, because I completed (some may say survived, barely) my final three papers and today was my final day of academic normalcy - everything from here-on-out is completely and utterly unknown - no more Lit, Bio, and Chem to worry about for the summer at least, which is very, very daunting but I did it, I made it through and hopefully my work paid off - we shall see in a few months time, but iām not ready to think about that yet - Having to say goodbye to the people who have taught me for the past few years was difficult but I made it through with no tears, a few hugs and cards written, which was lovely, truly, and Iām grateful for every minute of it.
Other than completing the final obstacle toward the free-fall that Is adulthood (I say that as though the feat isnāt impressive, because it sure would be to me two years ago), only a few things have happened this week:
(Iām making this a list because who doesnāt adore lists? Perhaps only me, but thatās more than okay)
Stuff Your Kindle Day was yesterday, and my poor, poor kindle has to suffer with the acquisition of 50-odd books (I havenāt dared to count past that, and it was my first actual SYK day despite owning a kindle for 9 years), and I have no idea if it has the storage for it, so thatāll be fun to work through
I made a bet to watch star-wars, now of course iāve seen most of it (movie-wise, definitely, and 3/4 of mandalorian minus s3 because letās face it, Iām as behind on that as I am with Witcher, which is soon to be rectified but anyway redirecting back to Star Wars) but very little of the shows and itās been so long I hardly remember the plots and such, which Iām very much looking forward to re-experiencing for the first āproper-ishā time - so Iām starting with Solo, then steadily working my way through ANH, ESB, ROTJ, Mando S1, Mando S2, Boba Fett, Mando S3, TFA, TLJ, TROS, TPM, AOTC, Clone wars (movie and plot-vital eps, I was given a list), ROTS, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka - all of this in exchange for my friend to watch The Boys (Iām going to rewatch it all, then finally see Gen V, hopefully in time before S4 ends and I can watch the last few eps as they come out, like I did with S3)
I decided I want to go on a trip over summer, just me, which is frankly terrifying but Iām really excited - Iām thinking of Bath, possibly, because the Jane Austen Museum is there (Persuasion is the love of my life and iāve only read it twice, I also need to read more than simply that and Pride and Prejudice) and a few doors down is Mary Shelleyās Museum too! Itās a trip thatās doable in a day, by train, which is pretty perfect for my first solo excursion - so bear with me since thatās in the works
To end this list Iām slipping in a note about a brief-exchange that my delusional mind brands rom-com noteworthy (only itās not, unless it maybe is? iāll leave that to the reader to decide), I gifted my chemistry lab-partner a chocolate bar and a note of gratitude because itās down to him that I survived the practicals (only kidding, Iām not THAT dangerous, but we were the most successful pair in the class which was pretty awesome), and enjoyed the chem course even more than I thought I would - and on the final day (today, insert anxious and clueless screaming because it feels far, far too soon for everything to be over) on the way out, he gifted me something in return - I never thought a chocolate bar would make me want to cry and giggle at the same time, but there you go (part of me prays he will not notice the existence of my Tumblr, but itās possible, and if he ever reads this - I am so, so, sorry, but either way my appreciation is known, and thatās good enough for me, and heās very, very sweet)
Now, what else is there to include in this section? Oh, I know! The nightmare that is the vast variety of things that entertain me - cough, slightly melodramatic of me, but youāll see what I mean momentarily,
Books - Iām roughly 120 pages into the Wheel of Time, which I already know will become my LOTR (assuming that is an actual phrase and not something my brain has made up, which is highly likely regardless - itās also a slight reference to Ready Player One, since Kira reread LOTR every single year), because who doesnāt love danger, fantasy, and a delicious almost undecipherable prophecy? If I donāt re-read this book every year I will be incredibly, incredibly surprised. Fighting sleep one night this week I sought out my kindle, which had been sorely unused these last couple years, and I started to read Interview With The Vampire, and Iāve spent a couple hours reading it today, Iām about 25% in according to Kindle stats, so Iāll see how it goes. Surprisingly though, I stumbled across Perks of Being A Wallflower on Kindle Unlimited today - and 5 hours later, with a couple of breaks scattered between, I finished it, about twenty minutes before writing this section - and let me tell you, that book was a LOT, but a good lot? i suppose? And Iām glad I finally got around to reading it - Itās also given me the urge to reread All The Bright Places which I read for the first time last summer, and itās beautiful, and so, so good,
Shows - Seeing as itās the weekend Iām making my way through Dexter, Iām currently 3/4 through S4 and loving it, itās INSANE, Iām also watching Shameless US, Iām on S6 and itās actually baffling me how much Iām enjoying it (Lip is my favourite character, and this season HURTS me with how much it hurts him, mild spoiler possibly? apologies if so), Iām also going to start rewatching the Boys as aforementioned, seeing the dark side of superheroes is so incredibly genius, if not disturbing, and thereās plenty of that in the show to look forward to experiencing again, so wish me luck dear reader,
Music - I listen to a LOT. Thatās the honest truth. Lots of genres, lots of people, but Iāll try and pick out some of the things Iāve been listening to this week: Outlander S1&2 Soundtrack (Iāve only seen up to s2, and after reading the first book last month it was perfect timing for exam season), Like That by Bea Miller (I rediscovered this recently and it fits so well with the characters in my head, and even though I havenāt been writing lately, believe me, Iāve been plotting), Trouble by Camylio (it reminds me of the main characters in my currently not fully-written book, as in the work I need to complete/redraft after I finish Ruinās Reprisal), Ludens by Bring Me The Horizon (does this song really need an explanation? Itās just that good) and finally, to finish off this little list of things that Iāve hearing a lot this week, The Other Side by Stephen Sanchez, which is so so good
Spills From The Ink-Pot - writing, writing, and more writing
Seeing as itās Friday, and today is the start of my lengthy, well-needed summer, thereās not an awful lot I can tell you all for writing progress, but so far this weekend I did manage to re-read the chapter Iām editing and the progress Iāve made in it so far, which was super helpful, and by the end of this weekend hopefully Iāll have that chapter all finished, and then afterwards have a lot more to share with you all next week!
But to make up for my absence from writeblr and being unable to post anything these last few weeks, Iāll add this in:
Just a little glimpse into my workspace/theme/whatever you wish to call it on Scrivener - that's right, I'm a Scrivener girlie, and I'm so glad I invested in it last May (take part in NaNoWriMo camps folks, you get 50% off, which is what I did, aka Ā£25 for permanent use as opposed to Ā£50, which is still really good compared to Word etc, in my opinion) - and a sneak peek at some of my Chapter Titles, which I really do love coming up with,
(if it's blurry I do apologise, but you get the gist, hopefully)
Incase itās not obvious, this account was written in parts, over the course of Friday and Saturday (11pm today, roughly), since I lost the battle against exhaustion and fell asleep before I could finish compiling this lengthy post (thatās not a complaint, iām really enjoying writing this) so Iām finishing this very first post a tad later than initially planned, but these things happen, and thatās all right - youāll also notice my battle with autocorrect and its capitalisation, sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but Iād rather not go back and correct things this late at night, so apologies for that slight blunder but I promise the next post will be all properly formatted with headers and capitals (as soon as I figure out how to include headers, and make them, hopefully trusty procreate comes in handy, but we shall see)
So thatās it! The very first Written In Smoke is completed, compiled and heading your way - I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it, this is unknown territory for me and it feels as though Iām baring another piece of myself to the world, but itās worth it, I knew it when this began, and I know it now as I write these last few lines, so if youāve read this far - thank you, and Iāll see you all next week for the next entry in this series!
~ A Girl and Her Quill
p.s. if thereās anything else youād like to know about, let me know! suggestions are greatly appreciated (cough, somewhat desperately needed because I have no idea what Iām doing)
p. p. s. being the utter genius I am, I pressed save as draft rather than post, so this is coming out even later than originally planned - whoops!

Precure Daily's Sixth Anniversary
On April 10, 2018, I posted the first review in the project that became Precure Daily. It wasn't actually on tumblr at that time, but on Facebook. The plan was to watch an episode every day and just post some thoughts, but it evolved into reviews and screenshots and that necessitated a whole blog, and here we are. That was six years ago today!
Six years. It's hard to believe. I honestly, truly didn't think I'd still be doing this. Whether I petered out before the end, or managed to get it all done in the 2-3 years I anticipated, I figured I'd have stopped by now. But somehow I haven't given up yet! I'm still watching, still writing, and still getting new fans to share with, and that makes it all worth it.
The past year was slow, I will readily acknowledge it. I only got about 7 reviews out in that time, including the one that just went up earlier today, but one of those was the Go Go movie. That was a whole undertaking, it took me nine months to get out. Granted, for about 6 of those 9 months it was just sitting there unchanged. I'd open it occasionally to poke at it but then not end up getting much done. Maybe it still wasn't the best it could have been but I'm proud of it nonetheless. It was a good review for a good movie. Also, I got to review the very first All Stars, even if it was a short film. Having recently wached the most recent All Stars brings that experience full circle and it's real nice.
One small hiccup is that, at the time of writing, I haven't yet gotten out the traditional Honoka birthday post. I just haven't had time to sit down and gather artwork for it. Hopefully that'll come out in the next day or two!
Outside of the blog, let's look at the wider world of the Precure series over the last year
I said last year that I hadn't finished Delicious Party, and that's still true. When it was on air, I was watching it with a friend and she was really into it; we are going to resume watching together to finally push through it.
HIrogaru Sky's second half was good, it lacked a little bit of the driving power of the first half and the villain plot never properly came together in my opionion. I still love the characters, I think they're my favorite cast in a good while.
I did not watch Otona Precure. Although I've watched Go Go before, I want to finish this current watchthrough for the blog before I jump into it. Maybe I'll even review it as I go, that remains to be seen. I've heard mixed things about it and I'm not very big on the idea that the girls just go back to teenagers when they transform, but I'll reserve judgment.
Wonderful Precure did not appeal to me when information started coming out, and I fell off it for a few weeks when the first couple eps didn't impress me, but I decided to keep going and it's thoroughly enjoyable. I don't think it's going to crack my top 10 but it should be a solid middle of the road series.
I watched the Delicious Party Precure movie and Precure All Stars F with friends in fairly close proximity, and wow do those movies exist on opposite ends of the spectrum. DeliPa's film was one of the weakest Precure movies I've seen, while All Star F was phenomenal. I need to rewatch it.
I did say last year that the blog would look different when I finish Go Go. That is still true. I should be able to wrap that up in a few months, then comes the next phase of things. Deets when it happens.
And also just because I can, here's some recommendations for shows outside of Precure you should watch that came out in the last year-ish:
Oshi no Ko
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (featuring Wonderful Precure's Tanezaki Atsumi as a monotone elf)
SPY x FAMILY (featuring Wonderful Precure's Tanezaki Atsumi as a psychic toddler)
Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
The Last of Us
And I think that's it for this year's update! Here's to another year of watching and writing about Precure! Thanks as always to my loyal friends and fans for making this project a success: @sailorzombiestar, @vertixscribe, PaintedOutlaw, @hanasaki-tsubomi, yugimon135 (can't tag you for some reason), and my newest fan @nono-bunny.
Here's all my previous sappy anniversary posts if you want to go back and read them.

For the ask game:
If you were a character, who would you be and why?
Very unpopular opinions? Share them here!
Have fun:)
Hi, hello! Thanks for the ask!
This is the list they're from, and I'm still (always!) open to more :)
If you were a character, who would you be and why?
Mulder. Next question...
No, I'll elaborate. For my first reason, I'll quote my own post:
"Imagine. Going through your whole life looking like that." Yeah I can imagine going through my whole life looking like Fox Mulder, it's called gender eurphoria
I spelt euphoria wrong waaah
Apart from the looks, though, he seems to have a pretty cool life. UFO hunting, investigating the supernatural, cool apartment, great partner, fun basement office, action and adventure...of course, there are downsides (missing sister, constant brushes with danger, frequently hunted by the government, paperwork, etc.), but overall it looks very interesting.
However, we're also already not dissimilar. I may not be quite as much of a conspiracy nut as he is (though of course I believe in aliens šø), and I'm certainly not about to join the FBI even if the 'uniform' does look hella cool, but we apparently both have issues with sleeping, eating, trust, fire, and obsession/hyperfixation (e.g. Grotesque and his whole search for the Truth), at least. [Let me know if you think my assessment of his character (and/or mine?!) is unfair or wrong; I can't remember exactly what's in canon and what appears more in fanon.]
The most random similarity is that both of us have used the sound of a light aircraft to locate something. In Mulder's case, during S01E15 'Lazarus', it's a sound caught on a recording that helps him find Scully. For me, I was hiking with a group a few years ago and we were mildly lost. However, when I heard a light aeroplane doing spin training, I knew that it could only being doing that over certain areas in our locality, and from the map we had I could work out our location more accurately, the result being that we made it home that evening.
I can also blame Mulder for my new sunflower seed addiction! Thanks a bunch.
Of course, if I were actually to turn up in a TXF episode, it would probably be as background character #3 who has a couple of lines being questioned by Scully whilst Mulder waits moodily in the background, but hey. I want to believe.
Very unpopular opinions? Share them here!
Look, this show may be a new love of mine, but yes, I do already have some potentially unpopular opinions. Buckle in...
I'm not a fan of MSR. You said unpopular! I've really enjoyed the early seasons of the show for the friendship between Mulder and Scully, and I see that as just continuing. Yes, they get closer, how could they not? But I dislike the fact that they (apparently) actually get together in the end and it's canon.
I will add the disclaimer that, yes, I am only up to S05E09 at the moment, and I suppose that the storyline could lead very nicely into it. However, at the moment from what I've seen in content on here like gifsets and edits, I don't think I'll like it, and I prefer the vibe of the show as it now is.
This marries up (!) with my dislike of many of later parts of the mytharc that I'm coming to now. It's probably because I personally prefer monster of the week episodes, but especially the S4 mytharc eps were among my least favourites, and some of them were bordering on a struggle to watch.
Which leads into my general dislike of S4, definitely an unpopular opinion according to the poll that happened recently. I won't go on too much as I've said this in some tags before, but I find it hard to believe that S4 is a favourite season. Yes, there are some good eps! Demons is my favourite of the season and among my top episodes of the show so far, and Tempus Fugit/Max was excellent. But there was also The Field Where I Died, Never Again, Memento Mori, Synchrony, Zero Sum...some of my least favourite episodes so far, that I would probably avoid on a rewatch.
Ok, rant over. Thank you for this ask, it was great fun to think about the answers! :D
#i guess i kinda expected the first one lol#and the second one gave me a great opportunity to yap >:) lol#so thanks for the ask! :D#ask#x files#the x files

Hey what is murder drones? I see it about, is it on netflix? Sorry to be annoying
You are not being annoying at all! In fact you have activated my hyper fixation trap card!!
It's an indie animated show that can be watched on YouTube, it's made by Glitch Productions who you may know for also working on The Amazing Digital Circus (it's okay if you don't know that I've just spoken to people who only know Glitch via TADC). Murder Drones is a sci-fi horror comedy with robots as the main characters, there are currently 7 episodes out with the final 8th episode on the way. We don't know when it'll drop but I believe it might drop in a few months or so!
I've been fixated on it since the 7th episode dropped like a month ago so that might be why you were seeing on your dash haha. Its a really, really good show and I highly recommend it for anyone who's even slightly interested!! Fair warning though, the horror is not a joke in this. For context, I really like body horror and I'm a big fan of the Mystery Flesh Pit. There's bits in EP 7 of Murder Drones that tickles the same part of my brain that The Mystery Flesh Pit does haha. Just wanna make sure people are aware of that going in.
If you do end up watching it or uh just wanna give me space to gush and info dump about this show feel free to ask about it!!! I've rewatched the show like 7/8 times by now and I've scrubbed through a lot of the scenes frame by frame to analyze it. Fun fact, I started watching the show like a week before EP 3 came out and watched EP 4 when it came out. Then I forgot about it until EP 6 dropped and hyper fixated on it for a bit until that faded because there was a 7 month gap between episodes lol.
Okay, I'm gonna stop rambling for now but thank you for the ask!! I do mean it, if you have any questions feel free to send them in or dm me!!!! I love talking about Murder Drones hehe
#ask#nowonderi-nc#murder drones#GRAHHHHH i could go on and on and on forever about the characters and the music#thats why im kinda trying to write a video essay for it

Hi. I really appreciate your insights on Only friends. I was rewatching ep 10 with some reactors and was pretty frustrated about the comments on the last scene. For me it was the best choice the creators could have made because A) we as the audience should see that Ray genuinely cares about Sand, and the most credible way to show it in a visual storytelling type is to put it in the characters imagination scene, with this one we know that when Ray saying he cares so much and Sand is so caring and Ray is so happy is 100% what Ray really believes. We have seen through the whole show that Ray can be manipulative to keep Sand around so I would have at least a bit of doubt if Sand was actually there for the apology from Ray. B) the screaming from reactors about Ray should try rehab for himself is just such idealistic thinking and doesn't fit the character arc of Ray. We see that he is deeply troubled and although he is selfish he doesn't love himself. So him stating throughout ep 10 that he tries rehab for Sand is the most logical thing for me. And I think in real life addicts motivation to try to get better for their loved ones is also pretty common. Why should this reason be less valid and desirable then the reason "get better for oneself"? What are your thoughts about this whole scene?
Hi! This reminds me of the discourse a few weeks ago (I wanna say around Ep7?) where the big conversation was whether Ray truly cares about Sand or not. And I agree that the final scene in Ep10 is one of the best ways we can be given the answer to that question (although I think there was striking evidence already, particularly with Ep9 and just how heartbroken Ray was during the apartment fight in Ep10).
I cannot see how there can be any question now that Ray loves Sand. As much as I want Sand to hear these words from Ray, I think Ray and the audience needed the Ep10 scene to fully come to terms with Ray's feelings. While his ways of dealing with those feelings have been complex (and not always righteous), the feelings themselves are actually quite simple: Sand makes Ray happy. They've been through a lot of drama, but that basic fact has remained true throughout. It also reminds me of what First said in that interview that came out the other day--Ray has always liked Sand, he just hides it more. And I'd argue that had a lot to do with the RayMew storyline as well as Ray's own perception of self.
I personally hope this means that we can put all the "Ray doesn't really care about Sand at all, Sand should find himself somebody who loves him, etc." comments to rest. Ep10 spelled it out pretty well, I think. This is a guy sobbing on his knees to imaginary Sand, thanking him for coming into his life. It doesn't get much more real than that.
About the reactions to Ray wanting rehab for Sand, not himself...I also completely agree that it doesn't fit Ray's character in the slightest for him to want rehab for himself--at least, not at this point. The only way I can see Ray agreeing to go to rehab is if it's for someone else, because we've been shown time and again that he thinks he's unlovable. It's part of the reason why he gets so attached to Sand, because Sand might call him a burden but he doesn't treat him like one. Sand sees Ray's flaws but he doesn't hold them against him. Sand thinks Ray is worth helping, and if Sand thinks so, then Ray can commit to it.
For me, Sand's love is the only thing that could have possibly motivated Ray to go to rehab. Sand says that Ray should go for himself, but saying that isn't going to make it true. As the therapist states, a lot of people are motivated to get help because of their loved ones, not themselves. I think the process is intended to help one overcome their addictions and learn that overcoming these addictions is about personal growth. Ray's self-worth issues are not going to disappear overnight, but going to rehab for someone is the first step towards going for yourself. Just like recovering from addiction, this way of thinking is a process. (I have faith that Ray could reach this point in his rehab journey, though it will probably take a while.)
Circling back to the last scene...I love it. I think the acting was phenomenal. I think it tells us so much about Ray. I think the dialogue is an excellent summation of his pain and guilt and love when it comes to Sand. Emotion-wise, I think it is the strongest scene in the entire show.

2 weeks ago netflix started playing alchemy of souls without my permission. needless to say down that rabbit hole is where i've been the past 2 weeks. (i knew why i needed to time when to watch this show.)
i know how it's gonna end, but i can't bring myself to watch the last 3 eps right now. although - skirting a depressive episode atm - i probably am over the hardest part having watched the first 4 of part 2... and 18 of part 1. the last 10 min. of that one wrecked me, quite unexpectedly.
i have so many thoughts and a few quibbles where the show could def. have done better, esp. towards (its) female characters. however, having read a lot of what was written about it and the critism lobbed at esp. part 2, it feels to me that people didn't actually engage with the story that was being told and were just mad they didn't get so see what they wanted (or theorized about).
i think it helped being able to binge both parts. part 2 to me has more rewatch value, cause it tells its part of the story differently than part 1. part 1, to me, was more plot driven; i wanted to know what happens next. part 2, is more character driven; the (emotional) repercussions of the happenings in part 1. i normally don't like angst, but idk, maybe knowing the prelude to that angst makes it more bearable...
all i can say is that right now this show consumes my every thought and has me on the edge of tears all the time. i think i'm holding off on finishing cause there's def. gonna be an emptiness after. it's been a long time a show has had that effect...

didn't poast last week so this is a two-week extravaganza post! con: got roped into DMing dnd pro: none of these fools have read mdzs so i can steal plots from there. hope the party is ready to be lead on a quest by a disembodied arm!
listening: oh shit SO many things. i will not be linking to all of them.
depeche mode: basically just their top songs on spotify, not any specific album. strong shoutout to 'shake the disease' and 'wrong' (which featured in my secret samol post!)
disturbed: ditto
franz ferdinand: albums 'hits to the head' and 'tonight'. throwbacks
phoenix: 'wolfgang amadeus phoenix' ditto throwback
inxs: 'x' DITTO throwback. doesn't hit the same as when i first listened to em years ago unfortunately
streetlight manifesto: album 'somewhere in the between'
boy and bear: 'harlequin dream'
sammy rae: 'let's throw a party', 'the good life', and their 'everybody wants to rule the world' cover
hozier: 'wasteland baby' and 'unreal unearth'
paramore: album 'this is why'
grizzly bear: 'veckatimiest' and 'painted ruins'
haken: their newest album 'fauna' because i'm thinking about whether or not to go to one of their shows in feb (leaning towards yes right now)
my SO's pinecore playlist
shosty symphony no 5 (<3)
and, finally, a lot of borodin symphony no. 1 in e flat and the last two movements of rimsky-korsakov golden cockerel because that's what the youth orchestra i'm volunteering with is playing right now haha
for podcasts, i've listened to the new counter/weight prequel eps! i'm so charmed to see these characters again. i still haven't finished millenium break holiday special because i lost my spot when a bunch of an episode played without sound by accident so i finally went and scrubbed back to the beginning of the episode (it's the second to last part) so by next week i will FINALLY be out of holiday special zone.
reading: finished rereading tgcf lol,,, in loving memory of square checkbox:Ā apparently apple is switching to circle ones?Ā hateful wikipedia page for kessler syndrome my friend @celestialtourguide sent me a dm to ask about a few of the characters in this manuscript and i was immediately charmed by it. it's so pretty, i loved the informational blurbs, just really cool stuff. it was already on waybackmachine but i've gone ahead and updated it.
watching: kurtis conner looksmaxxing. weird little subculture peek. rewatched sideways' why the music in cats 2019 is worse than you thought because my roommate was interested. this led us to the same channel's why avatar has the most ironic soundtrack of all time because roommate misread ironic as iconic and she really likes that movie. no accounting for taste, but aight. much more interesting than i thought it would be. that video then lead us to tony hinnigan's woodwind demos because hell fuckin yes. big-ass panpipes.
i've been keeping up on dunmeshi anime in little watch sessions with my SO, and also am working through kill la kill with him! i've seen it before but he has not so i'm really enjoying that.
playing: fallow.
making: i managed to finish my secret samol gift in time for reveal day!!! comics are fuckin hard dude!!!! i don't know if i'll be doing it again but it was a fun challenge. i decided to use a New App for some reason instead of procreate because procreate has not been hitting right and i wanted comic half tone brushes for this project. app is called sketchbook, it's an orange icon with a pencil on it. shrug! it's fine! i'll probably keep using it for a bit. started working on an english paper piecing project! soliciting tips for that because right now my method is: cut out hexagon using pattern piece i made to be 1/4 in larger all around than the template, gluestick template onto hexagon, baste edges down neatly, whip-stitch right sides together. remove template once all six sides have something attached. i'm sure there's a better way to streamline this process, i'll have to experiment. this will end up as a dice bag i think.
finally, pottery starts again this week! so next week will have some of that in here
eating: ah beans i did not do a good job keeping track of this. uh. made the ground pork & cabbage thing again because my roommate got SO much napa cabbage for making kimchi and we had a shitload left over. napa cabbage isn't as good as a more standard cabbage for this imo, standard cabbage tends to be a little sweeter i think once it's cooked in? idk. had some stage 5 mental illness moments last week trying to cook dinner on a very short time scale with lots of other shit to do, following a recipe because fucking of course my roommate wanted me to cook with a recipe that night. anyways.
misc: like said at the top, somehow i managed to sign up for Another Activity god damn it. so now every saturday evening i run dnd. tl;dr i'm in a group irl that meets biweekly, someone who i give a lift to for that was complaining in the car that their other online group's dm ragequit after his encounter wasn't well-balanced (skill issue) and before thinking about it i just was like oh well i could probably step in if you need! god damn ittttt lol i have missed dming so it should be fun. i vibe checked them for a session 0 last week and they seem chill and honestly shouldn't be too much work on my end, especially if i yoink plots from mdzs ha ha ha. other than that, all is basically well. i've settled back into a schedule, applied for some summer positions (!), and absolutely hate the amount of busy work in one of my two classes. yippee

Helloooo defend in place/mayday anon :) sad to report I did not finish my s4+s5 watch/rewatch this weekend (tall task in hindsight plus anirudh tweets dropped right before I was about to start jinx of all episodes lol) BUT I did finish up to 5x10 which means I got to defend in place yayyy! General s5 thoughts 1. Watched ghost stories for the first time and its not nearly as bad as I thought it would be (although 618 and 710 didnt exist when this seemed to be consensus worst ep. So). I get how this ep might be hard to watch on a weekly basis but its pretty fine while binging and also features crucial henren/karen lore like ā¦ also noooo way chim really said he was going to bring buck near death, revive him with his paramedic skills and then kill him. Did the writers know. Lmao. 2. Taylor kelly stuff is not nearly as bad as I remember it from what I had watched. Its just painfully obvious her and buck should be friends and not even because their physical chemistry is outright bad just their dynamic feels super friend-ish. And they put all that development time into taylor when they should have developed bucktaylor instead, like how karen was developed after henren, for example. Bucktaylor ily scene still hits like nails on a chalkboard though. God forbid we have to live through something like that again 3. Ravi deadass in every episode. When will my sweet prince return in this capacity 4. Forgot about athena hitting harry :( definitely one of the things that I had issues with from before and was just as shocked now as before like why did that need to happen :(
Okay okay NOW defend in place thoughts !!!!!! I really really liked it, definitely a top 3 s5 episode for me probably (the other 2 I really love are 5x11 and 5x12). Michael/grant family proposal montageā¦ genuinely top (fun) montage in the show. Up there with jinx and stuck/chris and poker date montages imo it was so cute. And while I really loved the ep the whole time I was like damn we were robbed of david content so bad ššš he was so good in this ep and the s4 michael bobby ep like I just want more I cant believe weāll never see him again. Okay and the ravi lore. Im going to be honest I spent years thinking the ravi cancer child thing was fanon/ravi begins spec LMAO like I saw gifs of that ravi hen scene a few weeks ago and was like damnā¦ that lore is canonš but yay I wish the show would just once expand on his lore beyond surface level. And the defend in place call was so good although I will say it was giving greys anatomy massively though. Before I kinda wished the show would have done more with david/hen dr stuff but honestly after this Im glad it didnt bc I swear Ive watched this exact stuff happen in greys before lol. But yeah overall what a great send off for michael like so good. On my first watch years ago I was always kind of like okay michael is fun but he doesnt really get to contribute to the main part of the show much outside of being a dad and in that sense I always found his character a bit weak/neglible. But now on this watch Im like why didnt they give us more of this michael!! Copaganda aside, The athena team up when theyre searching for harry was so good and it was probably when I started thinking damn this cast is really missing rockmund in recent seasons. But at least they went this direction with the send off, if theres one thing you can trust 911 for its an eventual happy ending. (And also side note. Amidst the summer of bpreg and domesticverse some of the scene in this episode had me really in my feels. Yay)
hiiiiii bestie!!!!!!! thank you for updating me!!! i also did not watch 5a live (started the show the january between 5a & 5b) so i'm in agreement with you on the fact that it's really not a bad half season when binged!! i can understand the frustration of watching it live though. also ravi being in every episode omg......we used to have it all....(totally forgot about that athena and harry shit too wtf...)
OK YAY DEFEND IN PLACE!!! idk if you saw but i ALSO rewatched it this week (partially in your honor and partially to fulfill the summer of buddie self-care prompt). I have SUCH a soft spot for david, we really don't get to see much of him but i loved their meet cute, loved him in there goes the neighborhood and he's just!!! ugh!!! super hot and so sweet and such a good partner to michael.
lol I've never seen grey's anatomy but i can def see that...anyway yay i'm glad you enjoyed the episode. on my rewatch it really hit home for me how much the episode was grant-nash focused (like you said, with the fun little proposal montage) and it made me realize how much i really do miss them. Looking back, part of what really drew me into the show in s2 was all the family stuff--Buck and Maddie first & foremost (also Eddie & Chris), but also definitely the Grants and how they navigated adding Bobby to their family. It was such a good storyline and they really continued to showcase how special their family is through the next couple seasons!!!
anyway thanks for updating me, let me know how the rest of s5 goes (esp May Day!) š«”
